Chapter Thirteen: The Sword and The Spear
(Royal Castle, France, August 1558)
"You wished to speak with me?" Madame de Clermont asked as she sat on the chair he conjured.
Madame de Clermont is a plain woman that wore her hair in a design that had it pointing at different ends.
"I have called you here to speak with you regarding your daughter Sophie." Danny said.
"What is concern of my daughter to you?" Madame de Clermont asked.
"There have been whispers that you are looking for suitors." Danny said.
"Have to come to offer yourself among them?" Madame de Clermont asked.
She felt amusement and delight at her assumption.
"No." Danny denied. "I promised your daughter that I would help her when I found her crying in despair."
That amusement and delight turned to anger and annoyance.
"I have no idea why my family, but my daughter believes in the foolish notions that people will marry for love." Madame de Clermont said. "I have told her that people in our position marry for influence."
"I find the only reason people believe that is that they themselves lacked love in life." Danny said. "They then try to crush those who have it. Trying to make their children suffer as they have."
"Do you believe that I will allow you to come and mock me?" Madame de Clermont asked as she rose up.
"I want you to let your daughter see if this playwright is her true love." Danny said.
"That is easy for you to say. You will not have to deal with the consequences if this goes badly. To watch as she cries into her pillow with a bastard child." Madame de Clermont mumbled. "For all she believes it to be my cruelty it is in truth love. I just want the best for my daughter."
"If you are certain that their love will end easily then allow me to set up the courting events in the Dinai fashion." Danny said. "I will come up with the challenges for her suitors."
There were three outcomes. Either the suitor would win, he would lose, and Sophie would run away with him, or their love would shatter easily.
Her face is turning an ugly shade of red as her anger grew.
"Why would I allow you to interfere with my family?" Madame de Clermont asked.
It was cute that she thought that this was a negotiation.
"I have heard you claim that you want the best for your daughter but in truth it looks like all your ambition only serves yourself." Danny said as his eyes began to glow. "I can see the secrets that you are hiding from everyone in court."
"I have no idea what you are talking about." Madame de Clermont denied.
Danny used telekinesis to raise Madame de Clermont's hand and slap herself with it. "Do not lie to me. You won't enjoy the consequences. Imagine my surprise to lean that you are not the true Madame de Clermont. Your real name is Emma Dubois. You did away with the real Madame de Claremont. Not to mention your daughter Sophie is the bastard daughter of an architect that worked at the castle many years ago."
Emma had been a commoner that worked on her lands during her youth. She had rescued a witch named Sadira from a pyre and in return was given a magical transformation that altered her appearance to match the true noblewoman. The two of them had an agreement Emma would get what she wanted as long as she used her power to keep Sadira safe and away from those interested in burning her.
"Please you cannot tell anyone. King Henry and Queen Catherine would execute me." Madame de Clermont begged.
"You are right about that." Danny agreed.
Even before King Henry's madness a crime like this would not have been let go of easily. She would have suffered a bout of torture before King Henry and Queen Catherine gave her the peace of death.
"Can you imagine what the nobles would demand they do to you? The Protestants? The Catholics? I believe we both know it would not end well." Danny said.
"What can I do for you so that you will not tell the king or queen?" Madame de Clermont asked in a broken whisper as she slumped to the floor.
"You know what I want in return for keeping your secret." Danny said as glared at her. "I will know if you fail to comply."
"I understand." She said gripping her dress with her hands.
"Send a message to the witch you saved. Tell her that I want to talk." Danny said.
"I cannot." Madame de Clermont said gripping her skirts. "The witch vanished many years ago."
Of course she had.
It was like the country itself was against him finding a witch. Too bad that even with its best effort that it failed. Thanks to Qetsiyah's information he had found a lead on actual witches. The witches that he is planning to go and see are a husband-and-wife pair. They had been born in Austria but had relocated to France recently.
The only issue might be the bodyguards that they used to protect them.
"You can leave now." Danny said.
She got up and walked through the door.
"Kada." Danny said focusing on the contact orb on his desk.
"You require something my king?" Kada asked.
"I want you to send an Al'kesh towards me." Danny said. "There is a trip that I have to make today. I do not wish to be kept waiting."
That reminded him that he should hand out his gifts before he leaves.
"Do you need guards my king?" Kada asked.
"I should be fine on my own." Danny said.
"Very well my king." Kada said.

"Hello all." Danny said as he approached the King and Queen in the throne room.
Queen Mary and her friends are there as well. They were standing together in a group, and he could feel their anxiety as they saw him come closer.
They were not even paying attention to the Jaffa.
"You do not have to be so suspicious." Danny said as he stopped walking. "I have had a recent string of good fortune and have decided to give you gifts."
"What kind of gifts?" Queen Mary asked in a wary tone.
"You will let us visit my son?" Queen Catherine asked him.
"Not exactly." Danny said snapping his fingers.
The Jaffa placed their chests that they held on to the ground and opened it.
"For Lady Kenna a golden bracelet encrusted with diamonds." Danny said as he lifted the bracelet from the box and put it on her right hand.
He knew that it was the type of present, she would like best.
"It is lovely." Lady Kenna said as she stared at the bracelet unconcerned with the reaction of other people in the room.
He left her to it and turned to the others.
"For Lady Lola and Lady Greer flowers just as beautiful as they are. I have used my power to make sure that these flowers will never wilt or lose their radiance." Danny said as he gestured and the servants behind him handed them their presents.
"For the queen your present is one that you can share. A way to talk Prince/king Francis." Danny said as their eyes widened.
"What?" Queen Mary asked as he presented the contact orb.
"I stole Prince/King Francis's soul and placed it in this sphere." Danny said with a grin as he lifted the orb from the servant's hand. "Whenever you wish to talk to it just say his name."
"What?" Queen Mary asked horrified at the fate of her husband.
Queen Catherine looked like she wanted to choke the life out of him, and he held no doubt she would try if she thought it possible.
"Calm down. I am just kidding. All this does is contact Prince/King Francis on the ship as the cell he is in is connected to that contact orb." Danny said as he felt their extreme worry over what was happing to the prince.
Except the king. For some reason King Henry is worried about something else.
"Would you ladies mind if you left King Henry and I alone for a bit?" Danny asked. "I have something that I want to talk to him about."
They looked reluctant but complied with his request.
"Is there something else that you need?" King Henry asked annoyed.
"I can sense your fear." Danny said. "What is the matter, King Henry?"
"If you must know Bishop Bousset has left the castle." King Henry said.
"Do you know where he plans on going?" Danny asked.
"My best guess would be to the Pope." King Henry said.
"Do you still fear that this will lead to a war?" Danny asked.
"France has many enemies." King Henry said. "They are just waiting for a sign of weakness to attack."
"How many soldiers do you think they can convince to attack?" Danny asked.
"Probably upwards of one hundred thousand." King Henry said. "More if they ask the other Christian kingdoms."
"How many can you bring together from your kingdom?" Danny asked turning to the king.
"Right now, I can call upon thirty thousand men and that is if the nobles decide to follow me and ignore the Pope's demands." King Henry replied.
"That is not that bad." Danny said considering the circumstances.
"It would be a slaughter when the battle started. Many of our soldiers would dessert us when they saw how huge a number their enemy had raised. The Italians Wars have just ended recently, and the Valois line had many enemies before you had come to visit." King Henry said.
"These are men that have simple swords and cannon. My ships move through the skies." Danny said.
"Can your ship's weapons mow down an army?" King Henry asked.
"They would have no problem bringing down an army of that size." Danny said.
Those giant moving crowds of people just made better targets.
"That may save us but there is another problem." King Henry said. "There is the risk that the church may unleash it's weapons."
"What weapons?" Danny asked.
"Lying protected beneath the Vatican they have the Sword of Damocles and the Spear of Longinus." King Henry said.
"Really?" Danny asked surprised.
He had not heard of either weapon existing in the show and if they existed here, they had to be fakes or a result of alien technology.
"Legend says that these are divine weapons that can cut or pierce through anything." King Henry said.
"How did the church find such weapons?" Danny asked.
He wondered if they were enchanted similar to the Spear of Osiris.
"The Sword of Damocles was found during the First Crusade and the Spear of Longinus was a gift to Pope Alexander VI by Jewish refugees." King Henry said. "I have heard tales that when Pope Alexander unraveled the spear from its wrappings the spear started to hum and glow with holy light."
"Have you seen it yourself?" Danny asked.
"I had wanted to visit the Vatican hoping to catch a glimpse of the spear, but they refused me. They claimed it was to keep it safe from those arrogant enough to steal it." King Henry replied with anger growing in his voice.
"That sounds interesting." Danny said.
He would love to add them to his collection. He wanted to start a museum and it would be good to put such items on display. It would make his museum even more impressive.
"It is said these weapons can cut through anything. During the fall of the Roman empire the church used those weapons to slay monsters and demons." King Henry said. "The sword was the weapon used by George to slay the dragon."
The King wanted him to understand the threat that they were under. The risk that the church posed to them all.
"In the end they will lose so do not worry." Danny said.
"Getting soldiers is going to cost money though." King Henry said.
His contact orb activated.
"That is no problem." Danny said. "Though if we are going to form an alliance to protect your country, I will want something in exchange."
"What do you mean?" King Henry asked annoyed.
Danny looked into the king's mind.
"I want to arrange a marriage between me and your daughter Princess Claude." Danny said. "Three years from now should give you plenty of time to prepare."
'The only reason I am under threat is because you have come and kidnapped my heir.' King Henry thought. "Is there anything else that you want?"
"No, I am good with a marriage to your daughter." Danny said. "I want there to be trust between us and the way the people of this land build alliances is through marriage.
It was part of his attempt to gain a harem from each kingdom in this world. So far, he gained Kirche from Germany, Lady Gabirelle from France, Kenna from Scotland, and is planning on getting Rebekah from Norway/North America.
"Very well." King Henry said.
It was very reluctant, and Danny could feel his resentment rising.
"We can continue this conversation another time. I have somewhere to be." Danny said.

Danny walked through the village and looking around.
The people kept their distance but watched his every movement. They were wary of strangers. Probably more so when there were rumors of churches being looted and war on the horizon. Still there was probably one place that had people inside of it. Someplace with people that would be open to talk even if what they knew should be kept secret.
He walked to the town's tavern. The crimson rose.
However, as he was walking to the bar, he saw an easier way to get his answers. A woman tripped and fell to the ground with her shopping bag spilling her fruits to the ground. He walked to help her up.
"Are you okay miss?" Danny asked as he looked at her face.
She is a young woman with tan skin and brown and pink hair.
"Thank you for your help." She said standing up. "I have never seen you around her before."
"I am new to town. I am looking for information and was hoping that someone around here might have some answers." Danny said holding her hand and increasing the sensation of trust.
"My name is Rose. What kind of information?" Rose asked.
"I am looking for a man named Van Hohenheim and a woman named Dante." Danny said.
She gave him the instructions to where he might find them.
The caste system of Dinai was a very simple thing. Humans whether they were bought, traded, or saved from enemies were on the bottom. They held jobs like building structures, finding and selling goods, cleaning building, tending to his farms/animals, and so on. The Jaffa were above them as they were the soldiers, he used to pilot his ships, fight his battles, guard the humans that went exploring either dangerous areas or when they went off world. The werewolves and the vampires once they were welcomed to his forces would be given similar roles.
However, while he was working on that he would not ignore the witches. It would make no sense. They were a rather volatile element. One that could make his plans rather difficult. Their reality warping may not be as strong as his as they did not have a personal dimension to receive energy from, but they could make weapons that could harm him. He was starting with these two because they were the closest.

He moved his hand up the gate and undid the clasp so that the gate that was separating the village from the estate was open. All of the stones were connected so well that you could not see the seams. It was all the same length with no breaks or cracks. He could see that there were gardens around the estate. The plants/vegetables were recently planted.
'I wonder if they noticed that I am here yet?' Danny thought to himself as he walked down the paved path.
"Who are you?" David a.k.a. homunculus 001 asked as he transformed from a bird to a teenager.
Looks like that is a yes.
"I have come to talk with your master and mistress." Danny said.
David is one of the homunculi that guarded the estate and protected the family. A homunculus is an artificial person brought to life through Alchemy. They had intelligence and feelings but because they were artificially made, they lacked a soul. According to Qetsiyah they were unable to reach the Other Side when they perished.
"That's not happening." David said as he ran towards him.
"I know you are stronger than you look but that won't help you." Danny said as he moved out of the way of 001's punch.
He may look skinny, but he knew that each punch could bring a young vampire to its knees or send their head rolling.
Danny jumped back from a kick that David had used his power to elongate.
"That's what you think." David stated as he rushed at him.
He is not unaware that David is trying to get him to an ambush spot. 002 a.k.a Eve was behind him taking aim and waiting for him to land on the ground. She probably planned on piercing through him with her elongated nails.
"I have not come to fight. I just want to talk with your masters." Danny said as he started vibrating his molecules so that 002's nails past right through him and stabbed 001.
"What?" David asked stunned figuratively and literally bound to another tree.
"That's what you get for not listening." Danny said after he moved out of the way and turned solid so they could hear him.
"Do you wish to talk?" Danny asked turning to the woman in the bushes.
"Don't move." Eve said as she pulled back her nails.
"I would hate to hurt someone as beautiful as you." Danny said.
She was beautiful even as she glared at him. Most men would find it hard to look away from her even if they knew the truth about her.
"Then just stand there and let us kill you!" David roared as he shifted into a tiger.
It looked cool but it was still pointless.
"I said I did not want to hurt her. I said nothing about you." Danny said as he teleported in front of 001 put his hand on his head and sent a strong burst of electricity through him until his skin started to char.
"What did you do to him?" Eve asked.
"Nothing that won't heal with time." Danny answered.
The homunculi had been gifted great healing powers beyond that of even a vampire. To kill them you had to destroy the core of their being.
"I will not let you pass." Eve said getting in another stance.
"I mean no trouble. I just wish to talk to the owners of the estate." Danny said again trying to get her to move out of the way.
"I have already told you that is not possible." Eve said.
"Fine then." Danny said with a sigh.
If this was how it was going to go then fine, but they were the ones that chose this path. He drew the sword of Telchak from the sheath. He ignited the blade, and the blade of light came to life and gave off a dangerous him. The original had taken the red and blue blades with him when he returned to Dinai. He had been left with the sword of Telchak.
The original had already scanned the composition of the sword and taken the schematics so they could forge as many as they wanted.
Eve backed away from the weapon.
It would do her no good. As he approached her, he heard a clap of hands and found himself surrounded by golems made of light.
Looks like Hohenheim was finally going to get himself involved.
"This is not going to stop me." Danny said as with a quick spin he cut through them all and turned to the trees trying to hide the man that summoned them.
Theophrastus Bombastus Van Hohenheim is a tall blond man dressed in a simple white shirt and tan suspenders on his matching pants.
"What is your reason for coming here?" Hohenheim asked as he walked into clear view.
There must be a secret passage there.
"This has gotten out of and." Hohenheim said. "David, Eve are you alright?"
"I am fine." Eve answered as she pulled back her nails.
"Give me a minute and I will crush this intruder." David threatened as he began to shift.
"How about instead we go inside and talk like civilized people?" Danny asked turning off his sword and gesturing to the manor that was at the end of the path.
"Very well." Hohenheim said with a sigh as he led the way.
It took about twelve minutes for them to arrive at Hohenheim's house and his wife Dante opened the doors with a scowl on her face as she looked at him. She is a smaller woman with reddish-brown hair that turned to curls at the end.
"I told you to let the homunculi deal with him." Dante said.
"It was not working." Hohenheim said. "It is better that we do not draw attention."
"That is great. I also hope that we can keep things civil and peaceful." Danny said. "I would like for us sit down and have a nice talk."
"Very well." Dante said as she looked at him.
She walked over to a table, and they all sat down.
According to Qetsiyah the two witches in this city are focused on alchemy. The ancient process of turning one material into another. Scientists had been trying for ages to make the process work. Despite their many attempts it all ended in failure. However, Dante and Hohenheim had abilities that let them break past those barriers.
"What do you want?" Dante asked.
"I heard that you two are gifted witches." Danny said. "I have come to ask you for a favor."
"That was what we feared." Hohenheim said with a sigh.
"What do you mean?" Danny asked as he tilted his head.
"You have come all this way to study under us." Dante said.
"From time-to-time witches have come to us looking to be taken in as an apprentice." Hohenheim said. "We have turned them all down."
"Not to mention the lords that have followed us to ask us to create gold for them." Dante said. "We had hoped that we had hidden ourselves from those that might come looking for us."
"We are going to have to do better next time." Hohenheim said.
"I have no idea what you are talking about." Danny said.
He also had no intention of letting them escape.
"No. I have more than enough power on my own." Danny said as he tapped the desk and caused it to turn into a miniature statue of Hohenheim and Dante standing together. "Here as a gift."
He placed it in the middle of the table.
"Then what are you here for?" Dante asked as she moved to touch the statue.
"Most of the witches that I know are among the Other Side." Danny said. "I wanted to make friends with those among the living."
"That is the favor you want?" Hohenheim asked.
"Yes." Danny said.
"You must understand why we find this so strange correct?" Dante asked. "Most witches unless they want our knowledge prefer to stay away from us."
"Yes. The witch I talked to says that the witches in this world find your ideas to be worrisome." Danny answered.
"They are just blinded to what we can actually do when we are not held back." Dante defended.
'Yup she has that streak of Alteran/Lantean madness.' Danny thought to himself.
It was why he was so concerned with the witches. All it would take was a little idea and they could run wild. It was why the Pegasus Galaxy had monsters rampaging through it and abandoned ships full of people trapped inside holographic simulations.
"Well, I want us to get along and for that purpose I have brought the two of you a gift." Danny said pulling two rings from his pocket and handing to them.
"Rings?" Dante asked looking at the object but not touching it.
"The stone in the center is a massive source of energy." Danny said. "You can channel it to increase the power of your spells."
The ring contained a miniscule piece of Naquadah but that small piece was enough to power a twenty-first century city for a decade. For an individual it could last several lifetimes.
He wanted to see if they would take his offer.
Now that he had met the witches it was time to go and see the vampires.

"That was very impressive." Danny said as approached Niklaus Mikaelson.
He had found the original vampire in an archery competition. Many would argue over the legitimacy given that his sense were better than any baseline human competing but that was not important at the moment.
"Do I know you?" Niklaus Mikaelson asked turning to him.
"No, I have just arrived in the city, but I have heard of the Mikaelson siblings that throw very famous parties." Danny said.
There was also word of dead bodies being found in the city more often since the family moved in, but it was too early to talk about that. Most in the city were unaware and just assumed that it was the work of wild animals.
"Our parties are invitation only." Niklaus said.
Esther had warned him that Niklaus had trust issues and a wall of arrogance to prevent people from getting close to him. He used it hide his fear of being alone and his insecurities.
"I can be a very fun guy once you get to know me." Danny said sticking his hand out in what most would assume would be a gesture of goodwill. "I'll buy you a drink and we can see if your opinion of me won't change."
"I never turn down a free drink." Niklaus said. "Though I warn you now that if you bore me, I might kill you."
"Then I have no need to worry." Danny said laughing as the two of them started walking to the tavern that he had taken over. "I am going to take you to this tavern that I hear sells wonderful ale."
"Nik, who is this?" Rebekah asked as she approached them.
"You must be the lovely Rebekah I have heard so much about. My name is Daniel Masters." Danny said as he bowed before her and created a bouquet of flowers before her.
"You certainly try to impress." Rebekah said as she took the flowers from him.
"You never said that you were a witch." Niklaus said surprised.
"You never said that you were a vampire." Danny said right back to him as he turned around.
He did not deny the title. It was right from a certain point of view.
"What do you want?" Niklaus said.
"He means that whenever we run into witches, they either wanted something from us or wanted my family and I dead for being an abomination against nature." Rebekah said.
"Witches are stubborn fools." Niklaus said with a smile. "They have experienced centuries of failure and have yet to learn."
"I said I wanted to be friends." Danny said. "I offered to buy you a drink at the tavern remember."
He needed to find out where the other two Mikaelson were being kept. The only one he had heard of being seen in the city were Rebekah and Elijah. That meant that Kol and Finn were daggered and hidden somewhere in Niklaus's estate. He rarely kept more than two siblings around at a time.
"May I come as well?" Rebekah asked.
"I would love nothing more." Danny said.
Rebekah was a beautiful woman and if he had could not make friends with Niklaus he was more than ready to try with Rebekah.
"So where have you come from?" Niklaus asked. "I do not believe Daniel is a Danish name?"
"I come from a very far place called Dinai." Danny said. "I left because I wanted to see the world and meet new and interesting people."
"What is Dinai like? I have never heard of it?" Rebekah asked.
"It is a beautiful place. I would love to show it to you one day." Danny said.
"Here are your drinks." Chandri said as she arrived in front of their table.
She is a Jaffa warrior that he had gotten the owner to hire once he was under the influence of Nish'ta. The two of them had laced their drinks with the original's blood as they had discovered that when vampires drank it, they entered an intoxicated and euphoric state. Even the smell of the original's blood could cause them to be drawn into its addictive taste.
"This is amazing." Rebekah said as she took a deep sip.
The archduchess had told him that the small drop she had gotten was more delicious than any other person in the castle. The enhanced sense that came with being a vampire only made such a taste more addictive.
"You are right." Niklaus said.
"So, I was wondering if I could get an invitation to the next party your family is throwing?" Danny asked as he took a sip of his drink.
It did nothing to him because the original's blood flowed through his veins.
"Please Nik." Rebekah pleaded with her brother.
"Very well." Niklaus said. "We are having one in at the end of the week. You may come."
"Thank you. I will bring plenty of this with me." Danny said.
"Are you going to be staying here?" Rebekah asked.
"No. I have somewhere to do that requires my attention." Danny said.
He had other tasks that he had to accomplish while the Original was away. He had the Jaffa scanning the world for fossils to be part of his museum he was building in France. Where it was going to be had yet to be decided but he wanted one. Replicas of the treasures from Osiris/Isis's pyramid were waiting to be transported to wherever it would be.

"What have you done?" Queen Catherine asked looking at the scenery around them.
He had shifted her dreams and created the night sky of Dinai.
"I wanted to speak to you without risk of people overhearing." Danny said.
"What did you wish to speak with me about?" Queen Catherine asked him. "Henry has already told me about your demand for Claude's hand in marriage."
"I wanted to talk to you about Diane." Danny said.
"What about her?" Queen Catherine asked.
He saw her fingers beginning to twitch. It was the most obvious physical reaction that she would make but he could feel her emotions and there was a brief rise in distaste. He wondered how Queen Catherine would have reacted to the name in the beginning of her marriage.
"You only know that she has tried to alter the line of succession and get Mary to wed Sebastian, but she has been involved in worse crimes." Danny said. "Crimes that have affected you the most."
"What do you mean?" Catherine asked.
"She was the one who told Count Vincent that King Henry was leaving the castle." Danny said.
"How do you know this?" Queen Catherine asked.
He could not feel her emotion here but even thou her face was composed the light in her eyes had grown colder.
"I have had Sebastian for a while learning what he knew. She paid Count Vincent's men who were holding Sebastian captured in the dungeon to treat him nicely until it was all over." Danny said. "He did not tell to protect his mother and himself for fear of what you would do."
"She will suffer for this." Queen Catherine said. "Francis could have died. She would have thrown the entire country into a war to satisfy her greed."
He would wait before he told her that she is also the reason that your twin daughters died that night in their beds.
It would serve better to save that impact for later.
Queen Catherine had murdered her in the show over that but learning that she put another one of her children in more recent danger meant things were not going to be ending as painless for her.
"What do you want?" Queen Catherine asked.
"That is a topic for another time." Danny said.
He did not know what the original might have wanted at the moment but that was fine. The original also found favors useful to collect.
