Chapter Twenty: Ending the Mummy's Curse
(Hamunaptra, Egypt)
"How is it going?" Danny asked Delphine as he looked up to the moon.
The witches of the other side had found her in a southern village.
"The spell is finished. He is coming." Delphine said. "Are you worried about the monster heading our way?"
"I am calm." Danny said. "Are you sure there has been no issues in the translation? I do not need a mistake made because a word in Egyptian did not translate correctly to French."
He had the relevant pages from the book of the dead and the book of Amun-Ra copied and printed for her to read. The Jaffa had already gathered the supplies that Delphine would need.
"I think I understand how the spells work." Delphine said brushing a strand of black hair behind her head. "The papers in front of me were written in a way I had never seen before, but I understood the words well enough with how clear they were. Whoever wrote these spells was a genius and also a monster."
"Alright then I will trust in your belief but make sure that you stay hidden." Danny said as he walked out of the house he had transmuted from sand.
There were four Jaffa staff weapons on each side that would hopefully hide it from Imhotep's sight. Imhotep for all the danger he posed to the world was still undead and with The Book of the dead in his possession it was easy to look for a spell to call him forth.
"This will work." Qetsiyah said as she appeared next to him.
"It better." Danny said.
It would really suck if the Earth was destroyed before he got time to enjoy it.
He would prefer tossing Imhotep into a black hole to be safe, but he was unsure if it would work. Imhotep had been changed by reality warping so the only way to kill him might be the Book of Amun-Ra. Just like the Mikaelsons and the White Oak stake. Any other earth-based weapon used on them might hurt but they would heal from it.
"The circle will contain Imhotep. It will activate the moment he steps a foot inside. " Qetsiyah said. " The circle is a constant symbol in the Earthling's magic. It is a conduit that directed the flow of energy. The symbols that accompanied the circle added several effects to keep him bound and robbed of his powers."
He was glad that she seemed confident in the magic drawing.
She had watched as he carved the design below the sand into the rock ahead of them.
Danny sat on a pillar in front of the city watching as a sandstorm approached the city. The sandstorm that raged towards him was filled with negative emotion and held very malicious intentions. It had started in Cairo and continued without a sign of stopping or slowing down. It seemed like Imhotep was not fighting the calling. He knew the spell they had used to call him and wanted the entire book.
"He is coming." Delphine said with a tone of fear in her voice.
"I can see it." Danny said.
The storm that was approaching them was twisting and he could see a face that appeared through it. At this time of night, it made for an intimidating sight.
"Who are you!" Imhotep roared at the two people that were standing in front of the sacred city.
"I am the man that is going to send you to the Other Side." Danny said as he blasted the sandstorm with arcs of lightning from his fingertips.
The sandstorm began to shift to glass but it broke apart and reformed back into sand and faster than he could change it. He was not blasting him with full power. He needed the mummy to move forward a bit more so the trap could activate.
"You are going to regret your foolishness." Imhotep roared as he turned back into a somewhat solid form.
'You are a just a whole new brand of ugly.' Danny thought looking at Imhotep.
His face was only half-human the other looked as if his lower face were falling apart due to being a mix of wasp nest and sand cocoon. His chest had huge holes in it that rumbled with the sound of a thousand hornets.
'He is a monster.' Delphine thought as she looked at the body of Imhotep. 'His soul is full of hatred and torment.'
'Do not worry I won't let him do anything to you.' Danny thought to her feeling her fears.
"Whatever you have prepared does not matter. You shall tell me where the thieves are hiding." Imhotep said as he fired arrows of sand at him from the ground.
"That is not going to be as easy as you imagine." Danny said as he projected a barrier that kept the arrows from piercing him like a game of darts.
"You have no idea the power I have. I was high priest to the pharaoh." Imhotep said moving his hand in a slicing gesture. "I have studied the scrolls of Egypt. Learned the ancient magicks that had helped men gain dominion over the land. No one is out of my reach."
"None of that helped you when you were captured by the Medjai." Danny taunted the man and jumped to the side as the sand parted from Imhotep's slice.
"Har-Har Rasas!" Imhotep roared as he launched balls of fire.
"You will not get me that easy." Danny said as he slammed his hand onto the sand and transmuted a wall of earth to rise and block the attack.
He used x-ray vision to see through the wall.
"No one can halt my revenge." Imhotep said bringing his hands together. "Ramz."
A ball of lighting fired at the wall shattering it.
He had already jumped into the air before the strike happened.
"Gurangurango." Imhotep roared.
Large spikes of earth rose from the ground aimed at him.
He thrusted down and hit the ground with psychic manifestations of his fists that shattered the spikes and slammed Imhotep into the ground. Imhotep turned backed into sand to escape his hands but the moment that it did he started punching the ground.
The longer he kept him from reforming the more annoyed he got.
"No one can hold me!" Imhotep roared.
Danny landed on the ground and watched as a circle formed around him. Next the sand turned smooth and tried to sink him underground.
"More like no one wants to." Danny taunted him reforming his barrier as he rose into the air.
"When I catch you your I will make you regret your insults." Imhotep roared. "Thalg Al-salos."
Danny felt the temperature around them begin to drop. He looked up to see that clouds began to form in the sky. Spears of ice rained down from those clouds above.
"You won't stop me with those." Danny said as he used telekinesis to take the spears and launch them at Imhotep.
They passed through him but as they stabbed into the ground, they formed a barrier preventing him from going backwards.
"Let's see how you avoid this." Imhotep said as he raised his arms. "Ugo!"
The sand around him began to shift and rise as it took the form of a man and woman.
They tried to grab the barrier.
"Impressive artistry but you still get a failing grade." Danny said as he flew out of their reach.
As he looked at the golems, he found it hard to believe that Imhotep has yet to reach his full power. He just had to hope that Imhotep fell into the trap before he ran out of power.
"Ala Raqesa." Imhotep said.
Danny felt himself falling as gravity increased around his barrier. The impact from their crash caused sand to rise into the sky.
"You were smart to avoid my golems." Imhotep said. "Let's see how you deal with them now."
The golems giant hands started punching the barrier trying to crack it.
"Now you have two choices. Either be crushed to death or come out and face me." Imhotep said his palm moving into a closed fist.
"It's that type of arrogance that caused you to be sealed away in the first place." Danny said with a smile as he teleported out of their reach.
It was also why from now on the Original was only ever sending duplicates to set foot on this planet. A clever or motivated enough witch and he could meet the same fate.
"You don't have the skill to threaten me." Danny said as he slammed Imhotep with another manifested fist. "Not even on your best day."
"Die." Imhotep roared.
The scream travelled through the sand blasting him backwards. He was too busy protecting his ears, so he was unprepared for it to connect with his body. It sent him skidding backwards.
"That the best you have?" Danny taunted teleporting backwards.
Imhotep raged forward but the moment the majority of his sand flowed inside the trap the circle that had been carved into the ground beneath the sand lit up and forced Imhotep back into his somewhat human shape.
'We got him.' Danny thought to Delphine feeling her happiness.
"What in the world? Let me go!" Imhotep roared as he started punching the barrier around him as if that would do him any better.
"I will let you go the moment that I have what I need." Danny said as he walked toward Imhotep.
As he stood in front of the living mummy, he started scanning sending the information to another memory cube. Imhotep was from a time before the Other Side so he could know more secrets that Qetsiyah was not aware of.
"You dare think you can enter my mind?" Imhotep asked enraged.
"It is no big struggle." Danny said.
He had taken information from Setesh so taking it from Imhotep was much easier.
'Did you get what you needed?' Delphine asked him telepathically from her hidden location.
'I am done with him. Now you can send him to the other side.' Danny told Delphine.
"You cannot do this!" Imhotep roared.
"You say that, but this proves that I very much can." Danny said as Delphine began her chanting.
He could hear Delphine chanting and watched as a giant portal appeared in the air above them. Clawed hands began to appear out of the hole and pull energy from Imhotep. His skin began to dry out as he took on the appearance of a proper mummy. He lost more and more skin as he fell to his knees.
"Please do noy do this." Imhotep pleaded as he felt himself getting weaker and weaker. "I have come so close to finally getting everything that I want. All I needed was the Book of the Dead and I would have the love of my life back with me."
While his pleading was sad it was not going to cause him to stop. Eventually all that was left of him was a skull as his corpse and clothes were reduced to dust.
"What is going on?" Imhotep asked staring at his skull and what used to be his body.
"Now you will join the rest of your people." Qetsiyah said as she appeared next to him.
Then he watched as a portal appeared before Imhotep and he was pulled through it.
'Great now I can move on to my next task.' Danny thought as he took a deep breath.
