-Chapter 44: The Old Religions

(Paris, France)

"How do you feel?" Danny asked Rebekah as she stepped out of the Chappa'ai and walked into his hands.

This was her first trip through one given the last time had been when she had been put into an enchanted sleep by the Brotherhood's daggers.

"I have never experienced something like that before." Rebekah said before pulling back and looking at the chappa'ai

"I am sorry that I had to place you at such risk, but I need to find out where Mikael is." Danny said.

Truthfully, she was at no risk. Still, he had to pretend that she was. Their enemies would be drawn out if they believed that Rebekah was vulnerable.

"Do you really think Mikael is going to come out of wherever he is hiding just to find me?" Rebekah asked.

"I hope so." Danny said. "Mikael had spent centuries hunting Nikalus. That kind of obsession did not disappear easily."

Especially now when he learned that there is a lead to find him.

"How do you plan to spread the word that I am back?" Rebekah asked.

"I believe that they are keeping an eye on me so as long as you are around me then they will find out." Danny said. "All we have to do is walk around and enjoy life."

"That sounds like fun." Rebekah said. "Do you have any place that you would wish to start with?"

"I am glad that you asked." Danny said as they left the room and started walking through the castle. "I plan on having Queen Catherine prepare a feast to celebrate your return."

"It has been a long time since I attended a French feast." Rebekah said.

He wondered whether she is talking about the actual food or the nobles that would be attending.

"It has been centuries since you were in France." Danny acknowledged.

He wanted her to enjoy everything at French Court.

"Are you staying here?" Rebekah asked.

"I have been sleeping in different kingdoms depending on my mood." Danny said as he ended in front of the door that Rebekah could sleep in during her stay. "Here is your room."

"Do you wish to come in?" Rebekah asked.

"I would love to, but I am rather busy at the moment." Danny said as he kissed Rebekah. "I will be back later."

"Can I help?" Rebekah asked.

"You already have." Danny said and teleported away.

"How do you plan to teach the Halliwells?" Qetsiyah asked as she appeared before him.

"I made a promise to their grandmother about how they would learn." Danny said. "I am going to start them with herbs and potions."

"That is going to require constant attention." Qetsiyah said. "When mixing potions recklessly there have been known to be explosions."

He could understand her worry. From his talks with Delphine he learned that most of her knowledge were ticks she picked up from druids during her travels and pages that she managed to buy from suspicious markets.

"That is why I will be giving them the potions recipes of witches that have come from before." Danny said. "I am also hoping that you will call their ancestors so that they can learn from them."

That whey when they are learning they will have constant supervision by more experienced witches that can warn them before they make too costly a mistake.

He was uncertain of whether she would comply with his request. Qetsiyah for all that she enjoyed talking with him was not related to any of the witches that he was teaching. He had no idea where her descendants were if she had any.

It was almost like she didn't want him near them.

"It will be easy enough to spread the word to individuals you want." Qetsiyah said.

"I hope so." Danny said.

"In regard to your question earlier I believe I know what Sybil wants." Qetsiyah said.

"Yes?" Danny asked.

"Depending on ow you kill Arcadius a power vacuum would form. Unless someone were to step in and take his place." Qetsiyah said.

'She wants to become Queens of Hell?' Danny thought.

It was ambitious. The problem was that Arcadius for all his gifts was trapped in a psychic dimension unable to escape and affect the world at large trapped on this planet. Letting the siren sisters' rule could place him and the galaxy in great danger.

He heard footsteps coming down the hall. He shifted his vision and saw through the floor that it was the eldest Halliwell sister.

"Good morning, Prue." Danny said shifting his vision back as he watched her walk down the steps.

"Are my sisters awake?" Prue asked.

"They are still asleep." Danny answered her. "How are you feeling?"

"I don't feel any different." Prue said with a frown. "Did the machine fail?"

"It worked exactly as it was supposed to." Danny said. "You have the abilities now all you need is to learn how to use them."

"How would I start?" Prue asked.

"After your sisters wake up and we eat breakfast I plan on taking you to a place where we can begin training your active power." Danny said then turned to Qetsiyah who walked into the room. "Would you like to come and watch?

"It sounds fun." Qetsiyah said.

"Who is this?" Prue asked looking at Qetsiyah.

"This is Qetsiyah. She is the witch that created the other side." Danny said.

"Where are we going?" Phoebe asked.

"I want it to be a surprise." Danny said as he walked into the Tel'Tak.

Elizabeth of York in gratitude for saving the life of her granddaughter had told him of an island off of the coast of England. She had learned of it from her mother Elizabetgh Woodsvlle.

Back when the Celtic traditions had ruled, and the witches of the land were free they worshipped the Triple Goddess.

The Maiden Huntress, The Mother Goddess, and The Death Crone.

All of those were titles given to the Goddess Morrigan.

Morrigan like most of the ancient gods and goddesses of humanity is a Goa'uld. Morrigan is the daughter of the Goa'uld Queen and System Lord Danu. During the Goa'uld reign on Earth she had been an underlord to the Goa'uld System Lord Balor. She grew ambitions of rising to the position of System Lord herself. It did not come to be as Heru'er invaded and took much of her desired territory. It reduced her to a minor leveled Goa'uld with a single planet to her name. In the millennia that passed she had risen up to become a mid-level Goa'uld.

Her story could be seen as a precursor to Nirtti's.

He had scouted the place out with B.I.R.D.S. beforehand and learned that it was still abandoned. It would be the perfect place for them to get started.

"Hello my king." Delphine said as she saw them.

Delphine had been picked up from the inn she had been residing at.

"Hello Delphine." Danny said. "These are the Halliwell sisters."

He gestured to the three sisters that sat opposite of them.

"Hello." Delphine said with a wave. "It is nice to meet you."

"Hello." Piper said in response.

He had hoped that the witches could put the rivalry between England and France behind them to learn but it seemed that it was not going to be easy.

"Delphine has the power of healing." Danny said. "She is one of the other witches that will be learning along with you."

"How many witches are you planning on teaching?" Prue asked with a frown.

"Right now, counting you, Phoebe, Piper, the Stillman Sisters and Delphine makes a total of seven." Danny said.

The original believed that it was a good number for their goal.

"Are you going to let us read from the Golden Book of Amun-Ra?" Delphine asked.

"No." Danny denied her. "That would be too much too soon. "

"Many witches lose themselves when they try to use their power for selfish gains." Qetsiyah warned.

"Are you certain that you have time to teach all of us?" Prue asked.

"Yes." Danny said as he felt the Tel-Tak rise into the air. "I have the ability to teach all of you with plenty of attention."

(Isle of the Blessed)

"This is the place that you wanted to show us?" Margo Stillman asked as she left the Tel'Tak and took a look around. "There is nothing but broken walls and overgrown trees.

"This place is a ruin." Mabel said.

"I wanted the lot of you to see what this place looked like before I fixed it." Danny said as he looked around the castle walls that were clearly losing the fight against nature. "Before Uther's purge this isle used to be a center for magic. English witches came to learn from the high priest and priestesses and heal those that came with ailments."

Now vines and moss were wrapping around the castle walls. The wooden doors looked rotten and seemed to be close to breaking off of the hinges. There were fragments of skulls and other bones of the dead lying around.

He led them through the castle to the courtyard and to the dais in the center.

"This is where the High Priests and Priestesses celebrated their festivals and ceremonies." Danny said.

"This history lesson is nice and all, but I was thinking that you were going to show us something more impressive." Mitzy said.

"I plan on teaching you how to use your powers but also your history." Danny said and caused the Rouen book to appear on the dais. "All of you come here."

"Whose book is this?" Delphine asked as she looked at the book.

"This is something that belonged to their ancestors. I figured it would be better for the group if you were to start with this." Danny said.

"May I touch it?" Delphine asked as she looked from him to the others in the group.

"Yes." Danny answered letting her move forwards.

"It is amazing my king." Delphine muttered as she placed her dominant hand on triquetra atop the green book. "I can just imagine the history that this book carries."

He was glad that someone is appreciating the history of the things in front of her.

"Now I assume that you all want to know what your active abilities are?" Danny asked.

"Yes." Phoebe answered moving forward from the line the rest of the women were standing in.

"Prue you have the gift of Telekinesis." Danny said as he walked in front of Prue. "You no longer have to touch something to move it. You just have to will it and your mind will make it a reality."

"With how much is in her head that would be a deadly weapon." Phoeve whispered to Piper.

"Phoebe you have the gift of Levitation." Danny said. "You have the potential to soar the sky free as a bird."

"That is so awesome." Phoebe whispered as he passed.

He wondered how she would feel when he started training her in it. He hoped that she did not have a fear of heights.

"Piper, you have the gift of molecular manipulation" Danny said as he stood in front of her.

"What does that mean?" Piper asked.

"For right now It means you can slow objects down." Danny said wanting her to start small.

Depending on her progress she would be able to slow objects to the point that they would appear frozen in time or accelerate them to the point that they exploded.

"Mabel, you have the gift of Apportation." Danny said.

"What does that mean?" Mabel asked.

"It means that you can teleport objects from one place to another." Danny said.

He wanted Pure and Mabel to eventually start training together when they got better with their gifts. Pure could send objects away and Mabel could bring them back. It would be a rather interesting game of catch.

"Mitzy, you have the gift of Vocal manipulation." Danny said. "You can sound like anybody that you have heard."

"That's good because her voice could do with an improvement." Mabel said with a smirk.

Mitzy glared at her sister.

He moved on.

"Margo, you have the gift of Shapeshifting." Danny said. "You can look like anyone you want."

"This is so unfair." Mitzy complained "Why did I get such a lame power?"

"Your gifts are just beginning to manifest." Danny said turning back to her. "With time as you get stronger you may develop more."

He created six duplicates and walked in front of each of his students.

Now that he told them their gifts it is time to start teaching them how to use them.

"How are we going to start?" Prue asked.

"Let me give you something to focus on." Danny said gesturing to the branch in front of them.

He used his power to cut them into even shaped blocks. "Now try to use your gift."

"Nothing is happening." Prue said looking at the blocks. "How do I move them?"

"Calm down. You are just beginning. You have to match emotion with intent." Danny said as he walked to her and put his right hand atop hers. "Feel how my energy flows through you and then use it to lift the first wooden block."

He wondered how the girl's personalities led to the powers that they developed. Each gift was a result of mixing heritage and personality.

Prue is determined and headstrong. She would not let anything stand in her way and so she got a power that allows her mind and her determination to be her most trusted ally. Piper desired control and received a power that was both offense and defense allowing her to decide how she wanted to respond. Phoebe wanted freedom and so gained a power where she could travel wherever she wanted.

The Stillman sisters however confused him.

Their powers were more like issues that they had to overcome than enhancements to their personality. Mabel had intense greed and gained a power to take what she wanted. Mitzy was very vain. Now she a power that would allow her to sound however she liked. She could send people into despair if she felt like it. Mabel despite her attitude is deeply self-conscious and now gained the power to change what she looked like.

His work was definitely cut out for him.

Prue lifted the hand the was holding and pointed at the wooden block.

The wooden block began to wobble and rise from the ground.

"You are doing it." Danny said as he stepped back and let her focus. "Now let's see how long you can keep it floating in the air."

It was three minutes later when he noticed that the wooden block was starting to come back down.

After the wooden block landed Prue fell to her knees in exhaustion.

"Not bad." Danny said.

"I can do better." Prue said looking at him with determination in her eyes.

"Good I like that determination." Danny said backing up from Prue so she could focus. "Now let see how long you can hold it before we have to go back."

He glanced at the castle walls when he noticed a new presence appear on the island.

"Prue, I have something that I am going to check on." Danny announced.

Prue signaled that she heard him.

He walked past the training rooms that his duplicates are teaching in and walked to the arboretum that is at the center of the island.

The newest guest is staring at the center tree. It was so tall that it looked like it was going to start reaching above the room's walls.

"What happened to my people here was a tragedy." Elizabeth Woodsville said as she walked past them and placed her hand on the tree. "They killed my ancestors then robbed them of their gold and relics."

"If you give me some place to start looking, I can try and find them." Danny said.

"Those treasures could be anywhere in the world." Elizbeath Woodsville said.

"Ask your ancestors for leads and I will try." Danny said.

"My ancestors were either gone or dead when our treasures were stolen. " Elizabeth Woodsville said.

One of the few downsides about the Other Side. Their knowledge was limited by what they or the other inhabitants had seen.

"I came to tell you that I found a spirit that want to help teach your coven." Elizabeth Woodsville said.

"Great" Danny said. "Who is it?"

He felt another spirit appear behind him. He turned and saw she had dark blonde hair that reached past her shoulders.

"My name is Morgause." The blonde spirit said with a smile.

No way.

According to his research Morgause had been the daughter of Vivianne and the older half-sister of Morgana or as history remembered her as Morgan Le Fey.

What history did not know is that Morgana had actually been an incarnated ascended Lantean named Ganos Lal.

"Are you the same Morgause that tried to take over Camelot during the time of Uther Pendragon?" Danny asked. "The Daughter of Viviane and Gorlois?"

"The very same." Morgause admitted with pride.

"There is so much that I want to talk to you about." Danny said.

"Do you have the time?" Morgause asked. "My story is a long one."

"I have a couple hours before I have to be somewhere else." Danny said transmuting a broken piece of rock into a table and chairs.

There were many questions that he had about Camelot. Questions about stories that did not survive the passage of time. Events that the spirits did not know about because they were focused elsewhere, or the events were hidden from their sight.

(Rome, Italy)

"Hello Seline." Danny said with a smile as he looked at the older siren sister.

"What are you doing here?" Seline asked. "Arcadius had not said anything about him coming to pay us a visit."

"I came here because I have an issue and wanted to talk to you and your sister to see if the two of you had the answer." Danny said.

"Sybil is not here at the moment." Seline said as she gestured for him to go inside.

"Where is she if you do not mind me asking?" Danny asked.

"She is in the Centro district. A merchant is selling painting and Sybil wanted to see if any interested her." Seline said as she took a seat on her sofa.

"Then I guess I can ask you." Danny said.

"What is troubling you?" Seline asked.

"I wanted to know whether you or your sister knew the location of the city of Troy." Danny said.

"Troy? As in The Trojan War Troy?" Selene asked.

"Yes." Danny answered.

According to Qetsiyah expression had been involved in the battle of Troy. The "gods" had blessed the soldiers they favored and harming those they disliked. They used the war to their advantage to amass power through the sacrificed soldiers.

The people suffered through ten years of war for it.

He had come here because Seline and Sybil were two of the oldest beings on the planet. He had hoped that they had the information about the location.

"I do not know." Seline said. "We left our island long before the first boat arrived for the battle."

"You are the sirens." Danny said. "The ones that tempted Odysseus during his journey home."

Seline clenched her teeth.

"No, we are not. Human mythology has gotten more wrong than right. Stories have been forgotten, altered and changed as they passed from mouth to mouth. There were more than one Nemean Lion, more than one Pegasus. People changed stories so that they could have a better story. For a time, people thought we were half bird." Selene denied before she settled with a scowl. "That was Agalope and her mermaids."

Danny understood.

In this timeline the story of the Goa'uld Zeus and his siblings eaten by Kronos is different from mythology. In this reality the other Goa'uld snakes did not come out of Kronos's stomach alive. They just gave his living siblings that backstory to be more impressive.

"Agalope?" Danny asked.

"A daughter of Triton and granddaughter of Poseidon." Seline said. "Mythology has combined the two of our species to the point it is difficult for the ignorant to tell us apart."

Clearly there were issues between the two.

He would try to move back to topic.

"Even so you and your sister have traveled the world. Surely you must have seen a map of the kingdom." Danny asked.

The art that she and her sister had collected over the millennium could only be gathered if they traveled far and wide around the planet.

"That is true." Seline said moving her finger to the side of her face as she gained a thoughtful expression.

"So, you can help me." Danny said hopeful.

"The world has changed a great deal since then. Some places are gone. With not even a whisper of what they once were." Seline said.

"Not what I wanted to hear." Danny said.

"You are trapped between Scylla and Caribdis." Seline said. "I know one thing that might help you."

"Really?" Danny asked.

"Maybe but what is in it for me?" Seline asked.

"What do you want?" Danny asked.

"Luckily what you want is stored inside of what I want." Seline said.

"Interesting. Tell me more." Danny said.

"Queen Nefertiti of Egypt is said to have had a scepter. A magic scepter able to find anything she wanted." Seline said. "If you were to find tis scepter you could take the spell and I would take the artifact."

"Where is it?" Danny asked.

"It was said the scepter was buried in her tomb in the Valley of Kings." Seline said.

"No one has found her tomb. No one knows where it is." Danny said. "Unless you have a map."

"There is a group of people that are responsible for watching over the tombs of past pharoses." Seline said.

"Do you mean the Medjay?" Danny asked.

"Good you have heard of them. Find one such person high enough in the group and they could tell you." Seline said.

"Thank you." Danny said as he turned to the door.

'I want to tell you something.' Selene thought to him shifting the conversation to one of telepathy.

'What?' Danny thought.

'You may think that Arcadius is the lesser of two evils, but he is not. He wants your soul as well. He is unsure how to do it right now, but he is looking for ways to take it. Eventually he will turn on you.' Seline thought to him.

'Good to know.' Danny thought to her.

"There is another way for you to find the tomb and the method is simple. All you need to do is tap into the Earth's memory." Selene said going back to their original conversation topic.

"What?" Danny asked.

"Witches believe that nature has its own will. I once knew a witch that believed the planet is alive and has desires." Seline said.

"Who was this witch? How much knowledge did this witch have?" Danny asked.

"She is well known. The daughter of a titan and a nymph. She is well known of her game of turning men who visited her island into animals." Seline said.

"You mean this witch was Circe?" Danny asked.

"If her words were true, then it also means that the planet has memories. Memories that have recorded history since the planet was born." Seline said.

Danny was not sure how true that was given that Aunt Oma was described as mother nature. Though he was interested in the idea of a planet as a sort of bio-organic computer. If it was true and could be accessed, the knowledge would be immense.

The problem would then be storing capacity.

"Thank you for your help." Danny said rising.

He had some witches to talk to.
