Chapter 23
Kid was beyond livid and his crew was sure that he would kill if someone just breathed wrong. He wasn't the only one angry, his crew also feeling their own fumes being lit. They were sure to take action, awaiting their Captain's orders.
Virus came back with a fearful blonde who was filled with bruises and cuts. He informed them of the news and the group were shocked. Kid was quick to take the blonde with them and already started to think of a way to burn down the island. They were messing with the wrong pirate.
"My patience is running very thin, woman. You're going to tell me exactly where they took my Sweetheart or that pretty face won't stay that way," Kid threatened the female, his dark gaze scaring her. She trembled and clenched her eyes shut in fear, almost not able to say anything.
"I-I already t-told you, I don't k-know where the auction house is!" She stuttered as tears fell down the side of her face and veins throbbed out of Kid's skin. He was going to kill her if she didn't tell him where they took Rosalie and it wasn't going to be a quick death.
"Kid," A comforting hand was put on his shoulder and he glared back at his first mate. "Calm down. We'll find her. Scaring her won't get any answers and we're wasting time," Killer tried to soothe the male but his hand was slapped away.
"Don't you think I know that?!" He snarled at the male before storming out of the room, onto the deck of the ship. Killer stared at the male's retreating figure and let out a sigh. They were all on the edge since they arrived on the island, yet it was worse now.
"You said your name was Lydia, right?" Killer asked the female who reluctantly nodded. "We just want to find our friend. I know that you don't know where they went but do you have any idea? Do you know where they have the human auction? Even a possible area?"
Lydia's shaking ceased and Killer's calm tone and she swallowed thickly. She blinked a few times as she tried to think. Her eyes were already swollen and red from the crying, her head still hurt from the beating she took from her aggressors back at thebar.
"I-I'm not sure." This time Wire growled at her, Heat slapping him. "T-They keep the human auction a top secret… Wait, I think I know where she may be!" Lydia stated in a hopeful tone and the males' eyes fixated on her figure.
"I overheard a few people talked about a big show they're having in the auditorium. They said something about buying the 'best prize they were going to offer," Lydia told them, a step further from where they were.
"The auditorium. I know where that is… Did they give a time?" Killer asked, getting fidgety. He knew where she had to be. Now, they had to get her back before it started or before she was sold. There was no way they were letting her become anyone's property.
"Um… I don't think they gave a time… All I know is that they were upset because they wouldn't be able to attend the black market." Her eyes widened. "The black marketing starts at midnight so that means…" She trailed off, Killer grunting in reply.
"It's at midnight," he finished and let out a sigh as he crossed his arms over his chest. It was going to be a problem. They needed to buy something at the black market and they needed to get Rosalie back. They were going to have to split up.
"Thank you for helping us. Unfortunately, we're going to keep you here until we've found Rosalie," Killer told her and she weakly nodded. He turned to Wire and Heat. "We need to find Kid and strategize before we head out again."
"Kid! We know where she is!"
Kid instantly had his first mate by his shoulders, shaking him. "Where is she?!" Killer let out another sigh and took Kid's hand off his shoulders. He could see the panic in Kid's eyes and knew that his Captain's mind was only on one person.
"The auction starts at midnight tonight in the auditorium. We'll have to split up to get that metal you wanted at the black market and the others will concentrate on saving Rosalie. The only problem we have is that we need to find her in an hour before it starts," Killer said and Kid grunted.
"We're splitting up then. Heat, Wire and Poison! You're going to the black market to buy a metal that I need. It's called Magnetum metal. It's very rare but I'm positive that they'll sell it there. Buy it and get out, I don't mind the price," Kid ordered and they nodded.
"Killer, Virus and I will go to the human auction and save the woman's ass from becoming property of scum. The rest of you, keep an eye on the ship. We'll communicate through the transponder snails. Do you understand?" Kid asked, the crew all nodding.
"Aye, Captain!"
Kid then smirked and cracked his knuckles as they walked off the ship, the groups splitting up to execute the plan. Killer and Virus walked beside Kid at a quick pace, knowing very well that the auditorium was quite a walk away from the ship.
"Kid, we have to make a backup plan if we're not able to save her on time. What's your plan when she's sold to the highest bidder?" Killed asked, noticing how both Kid and Virus tensed up at his words. It was a reality none of them wanted to face.
"I'll kill the owner."
"Kid…" Killer's tone showed both his warning and concern but Kid wasn't taking back his words. Killer dropped his shoulders and shook his head. "Alright then. Let's get Rosalie back," he said, the other two males ready for what was to come.
They were getting her back, no matter what.
In a dim illuminated cell…
She felt numb.
Even as she tiredly opened her blue eyes, no strength came to her in her consciousness. It was tempting to close her eyes again and go back to sleep. How long had it been since she had such a deep sleep? She couldn't remember…
Rosalie gasped as her memories flooded back in full force and blue eyes looked around warily. It was almost too dark to make out the cell structure she was imprisoned in. She could feel the coldness encase her wrists and the concrete floor beneath her.
Where am I? She wondered, closing her eyes as she stretched out her senses. She could feel other people, bound like she was, but nothing familiar near her. She heard soft sobs and whines and her eyes opened while narrowing.
"Oh! Look who's finally awake!" A male voice exclaimed as he walked past the cell, looking at Rosalie's figure. "Oi! She's awake!" He called another, both wearing the same grey uniform with glittered edges and derbies on their head, also glittered.
"It's about damn time!" She recognized them now. They were the two who managed to grab her, the blonde male being the one who injected her with the sedate. Her blue eyes darkened drastically and she pulled on her restraints.
"You… Where am I?"
"Looks like you recognize us, then? I must say that I didn't think you'd be out that long. We were worried for a moment!" The blonde smirked. "You're at the Human Auction House, collared to be sold to the highest bidder," he said, watching as realization dawned on the female.
Rosalie felt her blood freeze in her veins, horror washing over her. No… That can't be… She was going to be property sold at this place? She could only sit in her horror and disbelief. She didn't want to believe any of it.
"You can imagine how prided we felt when we found out we snatched the infamous 'Red Menace'! I'm sure the Big Boss will be proud. After all, we'll get quite a price for you," the dark-haired male spoke up and Rosalie growled at them.
"Not if I can help it!" She tried to break free from her restraints but found her strength fading away. She couldn't even activate her armament haki to break the chains. Her body was too tired to respond to her at all.
They laughed at her failed attempts. "There goes your strength! Your body still hasn't shaken off the sedative and it won't anytime soon. There was a bit of muscle relaxant in there as well. You're not breaking out," the blonde said, Rosalie growling at them.
A transponder snail suddenly went off and the male's jumped in surprise. A pink transponder snail was pulled out from the male's jacket, the pink feathers and sunglasses confusing Rosalie. They picked it up and answered slowly.
"Hello, Boss."
"I was starting to think I have to worry. My previous calls were completely ignored. I'm a busy man and I don't appreciate my time being wasted. Especially because you wanted to speak with me," the gruff voice spoke and Rosalie's brow twitched. She recognized that voice from somewhere.
The men broke out in cold sweat and swallowed thickly. "M-My sincerest apologies! W-We were in a bit of a predicament with our latest merchandise… I wanted to tell you that we caught the almighty 'Red Menace'! We're going to sell her tonight," the blonde said.
Silence filled the room and Rosalie stared at the transponder snail, the once grinning snail now frowning deeply. It worried her as to whom they were talking and she felt her body become cold again. She had to get out of here. There was no way she was becoming anyone's property.
"No." The trio's brows furrowed in confusion. "You're not allowed to sell her under any circumstances. She is to stay in her cell," the voice ordered and Rosalie resisted to sigh in relief. She wasn't going to be sold.
"B-But why not? We'll be sure to get an enormous amount of money for her! She's one of the top criminals since she betrayed her previous crews and her large bounty!" The other dark-haired male spoke up.
"I don't care for money. The marketing of humans has become weak. I want her to stay there until I arrive at the island. Be sure not to let her escape or I'll have your heads as the next item on the list," he threatened and Rosalie clenched her fists tightly.
"I'd like to see you keep me here, scum! I'm not being sold or becoming anyone's property, not even yours!" Rosalie yelled at the transponder snail, the two males staring at her in disbelief. The male behind the transponder snail chuckled darkly.
"Fufufu, you're filled with as much spunk as they say. Who would've thought that a little Marine Captain was such a threat? I look forward to meeting you. Even if you do manage to escape, I've always loved a good hunting game." His laughter echoed through the cells as the transmission was cut off.
Rosalie didn't like the unease that washed over her. This male… He knew more than he was supposed to and it made him a dangerous man. This was going to be a problem. Even if she got out, he would still chase her. She would have to travel smart to avoid whoever this male was.
"A-Are you insane?! Do you know who you're challenging?! You want Joker hunting you down?! You're insane!" Great, she had the codename of the male now. Joker? She would find out who he was soon enough.
"Calm down, it's not worth getting worked up now. We need to start the auction. We also have these items to get rid of." The dark-haired male pulled out three items of one was the transponder snail. Rosalie's eyes widening and her heart stopping almost instantly at the other items.
Her mother's dagger…and her journal.
