Chapter 24
Kid's group…
As the trio arrived at the auction, they found that it had already begun and the auditorium was packed with people who wanted to buy. As always, the stage light was lit and each person was brought out with their own number and then the bidding started.
"Shit! They already started! That woman better not have been sold already!" Kid snapped, feeling his nerves and his anger both unstable. They were currently at item number #7, a boy who wore a sailor uniform that was being sold.
"Sold! 50 000 Beli for the gentleman in the back!"
"I doubt it, Boss. She was brought in at the last minute and since she's worth a lot, they'll make it the Grand Finale. That usually how these scums work," Virus concluded, trying to convince himself that she was still fine.
"Then we better get her out of here now. We don't know how much time we have left… Virus, we need a distraction," Kid told the male who smirked. His eyes gleamed, his piercings twitching as he felt excitement boil in his veins.
"You know the drill," Virus told them and the other two pulled out medical masks, attaching them to their faces. Virus grunted and took a deep breath, closing his eyes as he started to activate his devil's fruit power.
It was one of the strongest devil's fruits that the Kid pirates had in their possession and he was quick to master its techniques. It was ironic. A doctor that could kill by infecting thousands with a disease and cure them at the same time.
"Infect!" He exclaimed, not loud enough for the backrow people to hear. A green substance oozed out from Virus's skin as he released his devil's fruit. The smoke forming from the substance spread throughout the entire auditorium.
"That should be enough. Killer, let's go!" Kid ordered and his first mate grunted. The took the smoke as cover as they ran to their destination. They were aware of the merchandise being held behind the stage, ready for sell and that was where they would find her.
The male who was busy announcing started to cough and fell to his knees. He suddenly felt very weak and his body started to heat up. Sweat trailed off the side of his face and the crowd in front of him reacted the same way.
Virus stepped forward, grabbing the microphone and tapped it to make sure it was working. He watched his masterpiece. He always enjoyed how worthless scum would squirm underneath him, filled with sickness.
"I apologize for the inconvenience everyone! It seems like you've all been infected with a dangerous illness! I would recommend going to the nearest doctor…" A sick smirk came onto his lips. "Since you'll all die soon," Virus stated in a dark tone, the people screaming in fear.
Virus inhaled deeply, sighing at the smell of fear. He let the microphone fall onto the stage, the scenery of the crowds all running out to save their lives amusing him. They got what they deserved and he didn't have an ounce of regret.
That's done. Time to find Rose.
Meanwhile…
Her mother's dagger…and journal.
Rosalie's eyes snapped down at her belt in dread finding that the items were indeed missing. The transponder snail she needed to contact Kid was also missing. They had everything of her their possession.
"There are a lot of people who would kill to have that journal of your mother. There lies a bunch of secrets that not even I know."
"Hey! Give that back! It doesn't belong to you! Those are mine!" Rosalie yelled, her voice laced with panic. The two males looked back at her, then grinned evilly. The dark-haired male held the items in the air in a way to mock the female.
"What? These? Too late! We can't have you calling your friends to come rescue you or we'll be in trouble. We're not stupid, you know?" The dark-haired pointed out and Rosalie gritted her teeth. It didn't matter to her to call Kid now.
"Then just the journal! You can even keep the dagger! Please, I want the journal back. You can do anything to me as long as I can get that book back!" Rosalie begged them, their eyes widening slightly at how desperate she was.
Mother, please forgive me. I promise that I'll get your dagger back somehow but your journal is of greater value. Rosalie bowed her head and clenched her eyes shut. She silently prayed that they would listen to her plea.
"I like the sound of that… Too bad we're not allowed to do anything to you…" The blonde male spoke and Rosalie resisted to make a disgusted face. "But we can't! We have to follow protocol. All items must be confiscated on our precious merchandise."
Terror filled Rosalie as she watched them find joy in the way she was suffering. She couldn't lose that book. It was a letter from her mother, the only true evidence about her mother's life. It was worth more than her own life to her.
"Anyway… We should probably throw these away and burn the journal. We need to make sure that no one finds out about the auction. We have to clean up after ourselves," the dark-haired male stated, the blonde nodding in agreement.
"NO!" Rosalie struggled against the binds, the metal cutting through her skin as she thrashed with strength she didn't have. She tried to stand up and gritted her teeth in pain. She needed to get the journal back.
"It's no use." Rosalie fell to her knees, breathing heavy. "Don't try anything funny. You have a remote-control collar on you. One press of this button and kaboom!" The Blonde held a small remote with a red button.
"I don't care… Please… Please give me back the journal… I beg you…" Rosalie bowed once again, her forehead touching the cold floor beneath her. She could feel tears form in the corner of her eyes. She didn't want to lose that journal.
"No can do. We're burning all evidence. Stop begging already! Geez, all women are the same. So much for someone with a big bounty. You're just all talk. Let's go. I don't have time to stare at a disgrace," the dark-haired male said, the blonde following him out.
Rosalie felt her heart ache and she stood up, trying to get out of her imprisonment. She had to get out before they burned that book! She couldn't lose it! The thought filled her with despair… She couldn't lose her mother…again.
Rosalie felt numbness taking over her body, her eyes clenched as tears poured from her eyes. They were taking away her mother's last memory. She slammed her head against the floor, blood trickling down the side of her face.
Kill them.
Rosalie's eyes darkened drastically, blue becoming a dark shade, lighter than black. The numbness vanished and strength flooded through her veins. A flex of her wrists made the cuffs break into pieces and a smirk covered a pair of plush lips.
Kill them.
A yelp came from the dark-haired male and he let the dagger fall from his grasp along with the journal and transponder snail. The blonde glanced back, his eyes widening when he saw the burn mark on the male's hand.
"What the-?! Shit, that thing is scorching! What the hell is going on?! That looks bad… Let's go. We'll clean up after we treated that wound," the blonde said and the dark-haired male nodded. He glanced up, only to pale and the blonde raised an eyebrow.
"What's wrong? You look like you've seen a…g-ghost…" The blonde's words died in his throat as he turned around and saw a pair of dark eyes stare at him. He yelled out in surprise and stumbled back, his body shaking in fear.
Take the dagger. Kill them.
The dark red-haired female bent down to pick up the journal first. She tucked it by her side and then picked up the dagger, the heat giving her more power. She glared back at the two males who couldn't find the strength to run away.
Die.
"Get that remote! She's going to-Agh…" A dark blade pierced the dark-haired male's throat, stopping him from saying anything else. The blood splattered on the blonde's face and he yelled out in horror. The other male was thrown to the side, his lifeless body hitting a cell's bars.
The blonde watched as she licked the blood that stained her face. He felt sick and erratically tried to pull out the remote. Tears blurred his vision and he struggled greatly. He managed to pull it out and went to press the red button.
"Teleport," she said coldly and vanished, the collar exploding without her body attached. The blonde waited for the smoke to clear before he felt a soaring pain in his chest. He spat up blood, glancing back at a murderous look. The dagger pierced his chest, the blood dripping from the dark blade.
He fell forward when she pulled out the dagger, her laughter echoing through his dimming mind. He managed to look up at her as she touched the blood, a smile on her face. She looked back at him, her eyes gleaming with darkness.
"It's beautiful, don't you think? I absolutely adore red. After all, blood is the most perfect thing in this world…" She suddenly sneered and kicked the male away with much force. "Yours is disgusting. You should bleed more for trying to take her away from me!" She snarled.
"In here! There was an explosion!" More men burst into the hall, all armed with weapons as they looked at the female covered in blood. They saw the two bodies of the men, the future slaves all cowering and screaming in fright at the scene.
"Fire!"
She cocked her head to the side as she looked at them, a sickening grin coming onto her face. All the bullets flew past her, not even grazing her skin as she took steps closer towards them. They tried not to back down and continued to attack her.
"What colour is your blood?" She asked, appearing in front of the leader of the group. He was about to say something but his throat was slit. The men who shot her readied their weapons, but found that their limbs were missing and all laid on the ground.
Kill them all.
Kid's group.
"I got the keys! They said we need to follow the stairs that leads downstairs. They keep all the prisoners there!" Virus called as he arrived at the two males who got rid of the guards. He tossed the keys to Kid who smirked.
"We should find her there since they haven't sold her yet. We asked them before they painfully met their fate," Killer stated as he threw the unconscious male to the side and came in next to Kid who gripped the keys tightly.
"Let's go!" They were quick to advance and found that there were no guards to slow them down. The hallways were empty and so were the stairs that led downstairs. It was strange. They expected the prisoners to be guarded.
"I'm not liking this…" Virus said as thoughts flew through his mind. They could've possibly taken the prisoners elsewhere since the commotion. He hoped that they didn't because then their chances to find Rosalie would be zero to none.
"Suck it up," Kid snapped at the male who nodded, not wanting to anger his Captain more. The trio headed downstairs, ready to find an ambush waiting for them. It didn't matter to Kid. He was going to kill anyone that got in his way.
What they found though…was not expected.
"Holy shit…" Kid murmured as they entered the basement room. They found their ambush all lying died on the ground. They were cut and even sliced up. Blood seeping onto the surface of the concrete floor, the scene horrifying.
"What happened here…?" Killer, who had seen many things in his life, felt sick and his instincts screamed at him. Virus was speechless as they continued, not one guard alive or moving. They were all dead.
There were slaves inside some of the cells, all of them cowering away the darkness. Kid looked around, not minding the bodies he stepped on. He was looking for one person. He didn't have time to think about who did this.
"You, over there. Can you tell me what happened?" Killer asked one of the prisoners but they were too shaken up to utter a word, mere sounds leaving their mouths. "Do you know if any of the prisoners were harmed?" No answer.
"It was a monster." Killer and Virus glanced back at an elder male in the opposite cell. "We didn't see much, only broken, half limbed bodies falling to the ground. The monster did it all while laughing. You better escape before the monster comes for you," he warned them.
"Oh shit!" Kid cursed and the other two rushed to his side, their eyes also widening. Against the wall were two men, one blonde and one dark-haired. Above them was a familiar pirate symbol, crossed out and all painted in blood.
They snapped around when they heard something crack, their eyes narrowing onto a figure in the shadows. Killer prepared his blades, Virus clenching his fists and Kid's hand went to his gun strapped on his chest.
"More guests… I wonder, how does your blood look?" That voice had Kid's mind immediately reeling. He knew who that was and he knew exactly what happened. They messed with the wrong person and made her snap.
"Rose? Is that-Gah!" Virus cried out when a piercing pain exploded from his side. Red hair came into his vision followed by a sick smirk. Kid and Killer's eyes were wide as the male crashed into the wall, a deep wound in his side.
"Virus!" Killer yelled and then blocked the next attack coming from the female. Her strength was overwhelming him completely. She was hit harshly from the side, breaking the walls from one of the cells as she landed.
"What the hell is happening? Why is she attacking us?" Virus asked as Killer quickly appeared by his side. Virus put pressure on the stabbed place while Killer tore off some of his shirt to tie it. They had to stop the bleeding somehow.
"There's no time to explain! Get Virus out of here, I'll deal with the little monster." Kid looked back at the female as she brushed the debris off her. She looked back at Kid, her eyes widening and teeth grinding.
"You!" Great. She remembered him.
He stared at her, taking in her complexion. Her clothing was splattered with blood from the deceased, the colour much lighter than her dark red hair. Her usual bright blue eyes were dark, almost black and piercing through his.
"Did you miss me, little monster?" Kid asked, smirking as he saw her anger flare. She attacked him, using full force with her dagger and he barely had time to block it with his metallic arm. The dagger cut through but only came halfway before he threw her off.
"You made such a mess. It wasn't long until that bloodlust took over you completely. I don't mind you killing them all but I do mind you hurting my comrades." Kid's tone was low as he outstretched his hand, the metal flying straight towards Rosalie's dark form.
"He had such a nice colour!" She laughed as she dodged and pulled out the sea prism sword that she found earlier. Kid's eyes narrowed and he dodged the weapon by moving to the side. In a flash, she appeared next to him and he cursed.
"Die-"
"Not today!"
Killer hit her hard, sending her crashing in the opposite direction. She coughed up blood from the impact and her hand holding the dagger twitched. Kid blinked a few times at his first mate, glancing at Virus who sat still and his wound still bleeding.
"Idiot! Get Virus out of here!"
"And leave you with…whatever that is?! Virus said he'll hold on. Let's get Rosalie back in her right mind and take him to the ship. We won't be able to escape here without her coming after us anyway," Killer snapped back and Kid scoffed, nodding silently.
"Fine! We need to get that dagger away from her. It's cursed and it's causing her to change like that," Kid said and Killer grunted. There was a growl that brought their attention back to her as she glared at them.
Kill them.
She gasped as she fell to her knees, her right hand letting the dagger slip from her grasp as a burning sensation crawled on her arm. Black swirls crawled beneath the skin and made her cry out in pain, her bright blue eyes flashing in the dark orbs.
Stop resisting.
"Now!" Kid activated his Devil's Fruit and the dagger shot towards him. He managed to controlled the weapon to pierce the ground. Killer ran towards Rosalie, his blades retracted. He had to knock her unconscious. It was the fastest way.
Kill them.
He was about to touch her but was knocked back by a large wave of haki that she expelled. Kid growled and his eyes darkened as he released his own haki. The two Conqueror's haki clashed wildly, red sparks flying around them.
Kill.
"You better snap out of it, Sweetheart! Don't let it possess you, idiot! Aren't you supposed to be strong?!" Kid yelled as he approached her slowly. He watched as blue eyes returned to their normal state and tears streamed down the side of her face.
Help me.
Her haki vanished, the darkness on her skin stopped spreading and her body became numb. Kid was fast to catch her falling figure. Her body felt cold, her limbs drooping by her sides and her blue eyes were dimly staring up at him.
"Goggles…?"
"Yeah, it's me. Welcome back, Sweetheart," he said, and watched as more tears fell from her eyes. She closed her eyes as she went into unconsciousness. He could feel the blood on her clothing stain his hands and held her tighter.
She was back.
