Chapter 32
Blake let out a loud yawn as he stretched out his arms and exited his room. Tears formed in the corner of his eyes but they were quickly blinked away as he continued on. He was sure that Ryusei was still having a lookout and would probably switch soon.
Blake let out another yawn as he came onto the deck, the sun's beams almost blinding him. He briefly winced and then looked up at the cockpit where Ryusei was standing. The dark-haired male glanced down and received a wave.
"Morning, Ryusei! See anything interesting?" Blake asked and watched as Ryusei gracefully jumped from his spot, landing on the deck without any troubles. Ryusei shook his head and tossed the binoculars towards Blake.
"Nothing interesting," he replied and then pointed at the kitchen. "Captain said we should go eat as soon as you woke up. Let's go," he stated in his usual monotone and Blake blinked a few times before he sweat dropped.
"You know, you should probably stop calling her Captain since she isn't anymore. She told us to call her Rosalie, remember?" Blake pointed out and received a glare from Ryusei, paling slightly at the male's sudden anger.
"She's still my Captain."
Blake let out a sigh at the male's stubbornness and nodded. "Okay, okay. I won't bring it up again, I promise," he said and Ryusei grunted before entering the kitchen. A wonderful aroma hit their noses and their stomachs' immediate reactions were to growl.
Rosalie's laughter filled the room and she turned towards them. "Looks like I was right on time. Breakfast is served, boys." Rosalie put the last of the plates filled with toast and egg on the table with the rest.
"Holy… This looks amazing, Rosalie-san! Let's eat!" Blake exclaimed loudly and was quick to sit down at the table. Ryusei lazily followed the male and sat down next to him before starting to plate up, keeping his opinion to himself.
"I'm glad that you like it. I thought that it would be useless to start the day without any fuels and Ryusei needs the extra bit of energy after last night's watch," Rosalie stated as she too went to sit down and plate up.
"It's no extra effort. I'm used to doing it." Ryusei simply replied and then continued to eat. Rosalie smiled and nodded, knowing that he wasn't the talking type. It was strange though. He and Blake were both very outgoing at a time but they changed as the times did.
She was thankful for what Law did so long ago despite being very angry at him in the beginning. It was very ironic indeed. She wanted to kill him for what happened but in the end, he did save two of her crew's life.
She felt a chuckle bubble up but refrained from making any noise. She glanced at the two males who sat diagonally across her while conversing. She made a mental note that she would thank Law for what he did.
"Ah, I almost forgot. Where are we heading to exactly, Rosalie-san? We agreed to come along but we don't know where exactly you're headed to," Blake sheepishly stated while Ryusei stared at her as he waited for her response.
"My destination is Dressrosa."
"EH? W-w-why there? You know that's a very dangerous place, especially for men." Blake held his hand by the side of his mouth and glanced around. "I heard the woman can stab the men if they cheated on them," he said and Rosalie raised an eyebrow.
"It's the man's fault if he cheated on a woman. I don't see the problem." Blake gave her a disbelieving look. "He can be lucky all he gets is a stab. I would've done much worse with him," Rosalie nonchalantly stated.
"You're as dangerous as ever, Rosalie-san," Blake stated, swallowing thickly. He was glad to see that she was still the same after all these years. The only thing that differed was her hate for pirates that seemed to vanish since the last time they saw her.
He wondered what happened that made her change and through how much she had to go for her to reach that point in forgiveness. Was it Law? Was it Eustass? He didn't know. He only hoped that she was happy and they would be there for her no matter what.
"Captain, may I ask you why you're headed for Dressrosa?" Ryusei's monotone voice reached Blake's ears resulting in Blake snapping out of his thoughts. Ryusei had his usual blank expression plastered on his face but his eyes gave away his curiosity.
"I'm going to get my Captain back."
Everything in that sentence sounded wrong and it made both men frown. They knew very well that they owed Law for saving their lives but still...it hurt their pride. Not to mention, they were shocked to see Rosalie's determined response.
"I know what you're thinking," Rosalie pointed out and let out a sigh. "Just like you, I owe Law my life and he is a very important person to me and the crew. I'm going to bring that idiot back no matter what." Blake and Ryusei's facial expressions softened.
"Well, we said that we'd follow you anywhere, Rosalie-san, and that's not going to change any time soon," Blake stated and a wide grin formed on his face. Rosalie blinked a few times in uncertainty. She expected them to disagree with her.
"Atom's right. You're stuck with us."
"Huh? Who are you calling Atom, Mr. Vibration?!" Blake snapped at Ryusei and all seriousness dissolved in the air. Rosalie watched as they continued to bicker and couldn't help but laugh. Blake and Ryusei watched as she laughed and blushed in embarrassment.
"Despite being an amazing duo, you still argue," Rosalie pointed out and then a thought crossed her mind. "That reminds me. I never asked what you're devil fruit powers were or even when you got them. If I remember correctly, you didn't have any powers when you were marines."
Blake and Ryusei gave each other a glance before Blake smiled. "I ate the Atom Atom fruit while Ryusei here ate the Vibration Vibration fruit." Blake answered. "We bought them on the black market a while back and we were lucky enough to find a good deal."
"We've only had our powers for about a year now. Our limitations and other possibilities are still unknown to us," Ryusei added, while sitting comfortably back in his chair, arms crossed behind his head. He stared at the roof, deep in thought.
"That really is a perfect combination but you should try to use your powers individually as well. You won't always be at the same place at the same time and that way you can spare your triumph card," She stated and saw both of them gave her blank looks.
"Oi, haven't you thought about it?"
"As expected from the Captain. You're always giving us amazing advice," Ryusei stated and Rosalie sweat dropped at their amazed reactions. They were physically much older but they still had a long road to go when it came to maturity.
Rosalie stood up and made sure to tidy up, Ryusei quickly joining in to help her and Blake going to sit at the bird's nest. The sea was calm and quiet, a very strange appearance in the New World. However, neither one of them complained one bit
They day was lovely as well. The sun was out, a few specs of cloud giving shadow as they continued to sail. Rosalie could feel a slight breeze as she stepped out onto the deck, the sun kissed her skin softly and the water gave a calming effect.
She missed the rowdiness of the Kid Pirates and they had only traveled for a little bit. She even missed the Heart Pirates' cheerfulness today. It was strange how her mind and heart longed for everyone she was far away from on a quiet day.
Rosalie...
The red head's eyes widened at the familiar voice and she spun around. Her eyes darted around to find the voice but she was met with an empty deck. It was strange. She could've sworn she heard his voice...or was it her imagination?
She then felt a shiver run down her spine followed by a strong, suffocating presence. She could feel the murdering intent, sweat trailing down her face and she swallowed thickly. What was this? It felt like it was right there next to her and she feared to turn around. She was frozen in place.
She felt this killing intent formerly. It came off from her dagger before it was sheathed. Yet, this time, it was different. It wasn't the dagger's. It was someone else's. Rosalie growled and managed to spin around to face the threat but was met with darkness.
"You're being hunted." Ah, it was that voice again.
Rosalie sighed and glanced behind, a familiar painted face coming into view. She watched at Corazon stared at her, faint smoke coming from the cigarette in his mouth. So, it was him who called her. She knew that she recognized his voice.
"You know, for someone who is supposed to be dead, you sure appear a lot. I'm not even sure this is my premonition powers anymore." He said nothing and it resulted in her groaning. It was always this way. He barely even spoke and when he did, it was once or twice.
Maybe she was finally going insane. She was losing it completely and it was to an extend that she saw dead people. How was she supposed to deal with this? No one will ever believe her and she didn't want to explain the entire situation to anyone.
Seeing as there was no solution, she decided to push her thoughts aside and looked back at Corazon. "Why do you always appear in my premonitions?" She asked his directly and was replied with silence, a vein throbbing out of her head in agitation.
"Fine! You don't have to tell me! At least enlighten me about who I'm being hunted down by!" She snapped at him. She watched as the smoke coming from his cigarette changed shape into a familiar pirate symbol. She was once again painfully reminded of the pirate she declared war to.
"Alright, but that still doesn't help. I have no idea who that symbol belongs to," Rosalie pointed out and crossed her arms over her chest. This guy...he was utterly useless. Couldn't he give her a name? It wasn't that difficult! Just say the name!
She watched as the smoke changed shape once again and reformed a map. It was a map of Dressrosa that she recognized easily with Bepo's drawing skills. Rosalie raised an eyebrow. He was obviously trying to tell her something but she didn't...
Wait, Dressrosa. Why did Law go to Dressrosa? That was a question she hadn't asked sooner. He wanted to get revenge, that was simple but who exactly was the one to kill Corazon? There were a lot of people on Dressrosa. It had to be simpler...
Something in her mind clicked as she recalled her Marine days. She knew that symbol. That Jolly Roger only had one specific owner and as realization dawned upon her, she paled. She turned towards Corazon but was greeted by the scenery of the sea.
"Captain, are you alright?" Ryusei's voice made her jump slightly. Rosalie glanced back and let out a breath she unconsciously held in. She gave him an assuring nod followed by a smile. Ryusei grunted and walked off, leaving Rosalie with her thoughts.
Rosalie looked back at the ocean and ran her hands through her hair. She couldn't believe this. How couldn't she see this sooner? She knew very well what this meant and she was in trouble. No, Law was in trouble and not only that.
She declared war to Doflamingo Donquixote!
She felt a lot of mixed emotions bubble up in her chest and one that oddly stood out was the thrill of being hunted. She could feel excitement and worry mix together, finding it very strange. It seemed that she was in for a lot of conflict.
She knew about Law and his past, the minor details he managed to tell her, but the missing piece was finally in place. To think that he was the one after all Law's suffering. Not to mention, he was the cold-hearted bastard who killed his own brethren.
She clenched her fists to the side, her brows knitting together as she thought about Law. It didn't matter who it was, they were going to pay for imprisoning Law in a life of revenge. She was going to free him, after all she made a promise.
"Sorry, everyone. It looks like I won't stay out of trouble after all. I promise to bring him back, no matter what," Rosalie softly spoke, the wind carrying away the words. Somehow, it felt like her voice reached them and averted her eyes to the sky.
"I hope you're all still doing well. I miss you…"
"Rosalie-san! There's an island up ahead!" Blake's voice reached her ears and she glanced up at the male sitting in the bird's nest. He pointed towards east with one hand as the other hand held a pair of binoculars.
"What are your orders Captain?" Ryusei asked as he leaned against the mast, his eyes half lidded and his arms crossed over his chest. Rosalie held her chin as she pondered on the thought before she sighed deeply.
"We continue! We still have enough groceries to last us another week. If we come by an island by then, we can dock," Rosalie stated and received confirming nods from both males. She was glad that they were making good traveling progress and didn't want to stop now.
Especially not when that murderous sensation still ran down her spine. She knew that she couldn't avoid it for long but she hoped that she would only encounter him on Dressrosa. That way, she can get Law and get out of there.
Then again, she could only hope.
