November 26th, 2060 - 11:58 CET
A Heli Pod swoops down into a valley, with tall mountains towering either side of it. Their peaks disappearing into the clouds above as the thick snow lays fresh after it had fallen overnight, muffling the world into a serene silence. The only sound is the occasional gush of wind that howls through the Swiss Alps.
The landscape stretches out before the Heil Pod, a canvas of pure white, untouched by human hands. A few trees stand tall and stoic, their branches laden with snow that glints in the morning light. The sky is a brilliant blue, the kind that only winter can paint, and the sun kisses the hidden peaks with a warm glow.
"Commencing landing sequence. Standby for final approach," Alan informs.
"There it is, Alan," Brains points, to a large circular building in the distance that is covered by a large glass dome, "QUARC. Quantum Research Centre. Home of the Supreme Hadron Collider. It's like a giant theme park of science."
"Cool. Where are the rides?" Alan asks.
"Don't be a child Alan," Kayo scolds.
November 26th, 2060 - 12:00 CET
Alan lands the pod on a small landing pad that is located near the entrance of the building. The group hop out and head through the large sliding doors into the main building. They pass through security with some difficulty as Kayo is forced to give up several pieces of her gear, such as her gun, with the promise of getting them returned to her later. The security guard then passes them their visitor badges and they enter a large research room. Brains takes them over to the centre of the building where a large sphere rotates, surrounded by two rings.
"This is the epicentre of leading edge research into spin-two bosons," Brains explains.
"Spin-who-Watson's?" Alan exclaims.
"Gravitons I think," Kayo muses.
"Exactly," Brains nods, "The superglue of the universe. My old lab partner at C-Cambridge, Professor Moffat is leading the team. It's been years since we've seen each other. We've got so much to c-catch up on."
"Oh great, I have to listen to you and some nerd buddy reminisce about Bunsen burners and advanced algebra," Alan complains as they walk away towards one of the research labs. There's a noise, of the door in front of them hissing slow open and Alan the gets a whiff of something. "Wait... Brains, is that cologne?"
"Wha—" Kayo starts and smells it as well.
"Oh?" Brains asks before the door opens to reveal a women who instantly walks towards Brains.
"Hiram!" Moffy cries and envelops him into a hug.
"Nice to see you again, Moffy," Brains blushes.
"Looks like someone just spun your bosons," Alan whispers causing Kayo to let out a small giggle.
"I know how busy you must be with International Rescue, but I'm so glad you could come!" Moffy beams and turns around to lead them into the room she'd just been exiting, "There's simply so much to show you and I need to pick that big brain of yours about some questions we've been having."
"Well... p-pick away!" Brains says rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment and following on, "It really is lovely to see you again."
"Hi. I'm Alan, by the way. 'Oh, hi, Alan. Lovely to meet you'," Alan complains with a sigh and follows the pair though to the main workspace.
"Don't take it personally," Kayo smiles, "It's kind of adorable when you think about it."
"Ohh!" Brains says in amazement.
"Well, here it is," Moffy points giving Brains some time to look around at the pieces of equipment that are being safely stored in protective tubes that are dotted around the lab.
"You've got the TR-4500!" Brains explains, "And an Intersecting Synchrotron." Brains marvels over what he is seeing when something catches his eyes causing him to jog over. "Wait... is that a..."
"Yes! A Thurbilapse Impulser!" Moffy says.
"D-76!" they shout in unison looking happy.
"Yawn," Alan sighs as the pair walk off again, "I thought we were gonna smash some atoms. You know, pound some gluons, crunch some neutrinos? Boom! Crash! Kapow?" This comment earns him a slap from Kayo. "Ow!"
"Yes, let's see the Collider in action," Brains states.
"Of course!" Moffy nods and leads them over to where they were earlier in front of the large rotating sphere. Moffy turns on the collider's control panel and a holo-screen lights up in front of them with the controls to the collider. She proceeds to play with the screen, moving a few things around.
"Graviton generator operational," a female voice says, "Building up injection reserves."
"Who would like to do the honours?" Moffy asks.
"Ooh, ooh! Me! Me! Me!" Alan calls, raising his hand and jumping around like a child. Moffy smiles and flings the start button over to Alan on the holo-screen which Alan presses. The button turns from grey to green.
"You're such a child sometimes Al," Kayo says.
"Initiating atomic collision," the voice says, and they wait a minute.
"Ur... maybe it's broken," Alan says.
"Atomic collision complete," the voice chimes in again.
"What? That's it? No mushroom cloud? No mega boom? Nothing?" Alan asks, and Kayo shakes her head.
"Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it isn't p-powerful," Brains replies in admiration, "Some of the greatest forces in the universe are completely invisible."
"And completely boring," Alan says blowing a raspberry, "Just when I thought physics was gonna be fun."
"Come on Al enjoy yourself a bit," Kayo smiles, "I mean who's kidding I'm here." Kayo laughs at her own joke as Alan's cheeks go slightly pink.
November 26th, 2060 - 22:18 NZDT
On board Thunderbird 5, the meteorite warning suddenly goes off with no explanation and John charges over to the mission control centre. He turns on the large holo-map of Earth that wraps itself around the room and tracks the decent of the meteorite.
"Calling International Rescue," John announces, "I'm tracking a magnitude three meteorite passing through the Earth's atmosphere." He follows the path on the holo-screen when it mysteriously starts to change course. "Hold on. Standdown, IR. It's heading for an unpopulated region in Southern Berekhstan." However, the meteor changes course again causing John to look around in confusion, "What? Scratch that. International Rescue, we have a situation."
5... 4... 3... 2... 1... Thunderbirds are Go!
John observes the crash site of the meteor. He manipulates the hologram to show a snowy valley and a large fire that is in the centre. Several buildings are depicted in and around the valley.
"The meteor has impacted in downtown New Geneva," John explains.
"Sounds like this is going to take some heavy lifting," Virgil says, who had just finished on another job and was preparing to head back to Tracy Island.
"Copy that Thunderbird 2," John says, "Just the person for the job."
"Until local authorities ask for help I'll access and report back," Virgil states.
"F-A-B, Virgil," Scott acknowledges, "I'm ready if you need me. I'll go and inform Marion."
"There's something highly p-peculiar about the trajectory of the that meteorite," Brains muses.
"Brains is right," Kayo says, "Giant hunks of space rock don't just change direction on their own."
"Thunderbird 2, I advise you to t-take care," Brains nods.
It is fortunate that Thunderbird 2 had been in the local area and it doesn't take long to divert off its original course and head over to the Swiss Alps. Soon, there is smoke upon the horizon and the town of New Geneva comes into view.
"Arriving in New Geneva now," Virgil announces, "It looks like they've got those fires under control."
" Local emergency services are taking care of evac, but they need someone to go into the impact zone and check out that meteorite," John relays, "Can you see where it impacted?"
"Yeah, I think I've got a pretty good idea," Virgil says as he circles the town a couple of times, "I'm going to put her down and go in on foot." He starts to prepare Thunderbird 2's landing sequence.
"Okay, Thunderbird 2. You might want to take a little extra muscle of the mechanical kind," John says.
"F-A-B. Well ahead of you," Virgil responds. Thunderbird 2 lands on the edge of the town as Virgil gets out of his seat and rushes down into the module where his exo-suit is stored. He grabs in off its hanger and swiftly puts it on before rushing out of the passenger elevator. The town walls lie in ruins, which allows Virgil to run straight through and into the impact zone. Rubble and dust covers what would normally be a busy high street. Several small fires are still going on with the local authorities working their way round to put them out. They also help remove the trapped bodies of those caught under the rubble as well as remove the dead. As Virgil gets towards the resting place of the meteor, he beings to move heavy bits of material out of the way — an it isn't rock. "Are you guys seeing this?"
"Coming in loud and clear," John informs.
"We're right there with you, Virgil," Brains replies.
Virgil starts getting closer to the meteorite, and pushes away some of the rubble. His confused in only confirmed at what he continually sees the close he gets. "Er, do meteorites usually have antennas and solar panels?"
"Not typically. Can you get a closer look?" Brains enquires as Virgil pulls some of the rubble away, moving into the centre of the wreckage to reveal a panel with GDF printed on it.
"Holy shit!" Virgil says.
"Well Brains, what do you think?" John asks.
"What is it?" Alan asks and the holo-screen in front of them changes to display an image of what the GDF satellite should look like.
"It's a satellite!" Kayo says.
"A satellite? Crashed to Earth!" Moffy cries.
"Why?" Alan asks, "Did it run out of gas?"
"No. Something must have caused it to fall out of orbit," Brains muses.
"Something or someone," Alan thinks, "I'm calling sabotage. And if you look up sabotage in the dictionary you'll find a picture of The Hood."
"I don't think so," Kayo says as a shiver goes down her spine, "It's not his type."
Suddenly, they all hear an alarm go off through John's hologram and they see him turn around. John frowns as he listens into another distress call that is coming in the local vicinity.
"Mayday! Mayday!" a voice calls, and John manipulates the hologram of New Geneva to show the current trajectory of a falling plane, "This is Flight VT-G45 out of Tokyo. We're losing altitude fast.
"Another falling plane? What are the odds?" John mutters.
"The controls aren't responding," the pilot informs, "I've tried everything. It's like something's grabbed hold of us."
John takes a closer look at the trajectory of the plane. "And it's right above Alan, Kayo and Brains at the collider."
"Thunderbird 1 responding," Scott says.
"We've got this," Marion adds as she had entered the room moments earlier.
"Flight VT-G45, this is International Rescue," John calls, "We're on our way."
5
Scott descends and gets suited up.
4
Marion is brought into Thunderbird 1's hold and take a seat in the back.
3
Scott retracts the chair inside Thunderbird 1 and closes the hatch.
2
The launch pad starts to move.
1
Thunderbird 1 comes to a stop as the swimming pool above starts to retract.
Thunderbirds are Go!
November 26th, 2060 - 12:47 CET
Inside QUARC, Alan is pacing the room, deep in thought, when an idea pops into his head and he walks over to the rest of the group. Kayo with a concerned expression displayed on her face.
"Thanks for the visit, Professor Moffat, but we really gotta go," Alan says.
"B-But we only just got here," Brains complains.
"Brains, The Hood crashed the satellite and now he's trying to bring down a jet plane," Alan cries, "We have to get where the action is!"
"Alan, as I've said I've been following leads on him for over half a year now," Kayo states, "This isn't his type."
"Besides, I haven't shown you the results from the lead nuclei test," Moffy says, "They're truly fascinating. Hmm?"
"Ah, okay. You can look at your numbers, but then we are out of here," Alan sighs.
"Fantastic," Brains smiles.
"Spectacular," Moffy beams and the couple walk off, leaving Alan and Kayo by themselves in the collider room.
"Oh, brother," Alan says, facepalming and Kayo places a hand on Alan's shoulder.
"At least you've got me," Kayo jokes.
November 26th, 2060 - 12:56 CET
In the skies above them, Thunderbird 1 arrives on the scene of the falling plane.
"It's no use, it's not responding," the pilot strains as he desperately tries to work at the controls, "Flight crew initiate emergency protocol. Prepare for full impact."
Thunderbird 1 bursts through the thick clouds and pulls up alongside the falling plane. Its red nosecone now visible through the cockpit windows of the plane.
"Did someone call for a tow?" Marion jokes.
"International Rescue, thank goodness," the pilot sighs.
"Thunderbird 1 to Thunderbird 5, I'm going to try to grapple the jet and yank it out of its dive," Scott explains. He pulls Thunderbird 1 overhead of the plane and opens Thunderbird 1's under carriage. Scott tries to line up his zipline lock with the nose of the plane as the lock light turns from orange to green, he fires the clamp. However, his attempt misses. "Argh, I almost had it," he groans, "I'm going in again." He reals in the zipline and does the same thing again. Marion looks through the bay doors of Thunderbird 1 and acts as the second pair of eyes for Scott. Once Scott has lined up perfectly, Marion gives him the thumbs up and this time they succeed in attaching the zipline to the nose of the plane. "Got it!" Scott celebrates and pulls Thunderbird 1 ahead of the plane in order to drag it along.
However, before Scott and Marion can celebrate, Marion notices the warning systems starting beeping. "Er... Scott, we've got a problem." She brings up the holo-system image of Thunderbird 1 which has turned red and the beeping becomes incessant.
"Shit! I'm losing control," Scott shouts, "Thunderbird 1 is going down!"
Thunderbird 1 suddenly starts plummeting towards the Earth along with the plane. They circle around in circles as if they are in some sort of vortex. John observes this on his holographic projector.
"Thunderbird 1, give me your situation," John orders.
"Altitude boosters are ineffectual. Retros firing at maximum. Controls aren't responding," Marion relays as Scott desperately tries to regain control. The warning system starts beeping incessantly again which was starting to get annoying. "Thunderbird 1 is in serious trouble."
"The Hood's got Scott!" Alan yells, which earns him another slap on the head from Kayo.
"That would be a negative. The diagnostics scan shows all systems operating as normal. If The Hood had something to do with it there would be a sign of sabotage," Kayo says.
"Then it's the jet. It's dragging Thunderbird 1 down," Alan says.
"It doesn't compute. That's a Botchily Skyliner," Brains says as he and Moffy re-enter the room and he brings up a hologram of the jet on the holo-screen, "Which if I recall correctly has a gross operating weight of 318.7 metric tons. Thunderbird 1 is in an incline dive of approximately 6.7G." He adjusts he glasses before continuing. "But it has a vertical thrust of 47,000 pounds, which is enough to tow 6.4 skyliners."
"In English please?" Alan says rolling his eyes causing Kayo to turn to him.
"Something really weird is going on," Kayo summarises.
"But if it's not The Hood and not the jet then what is it?" Alan asks.
"Gravity!" Moffy exclaims.
"Of course, why didn't I think of that?" Brains says, "The j-jet weighs 318 tons under normal Earth gravity. But what if gravity isn't normal?" He pauses and contacts John. "Thunderbird 5. Please run a gravity scan on Thunderbird 1."
John runs his hand over the holo-screen to do the scan. "Already on it," he says and when the scan finishes it displays a well, "That's strange."
"Guys, you're caught in a gravity well," Brains says to Thunderbird 1.
"How improbable!" Moffy gasps as John forwards his hologram to the QUARC for Brains and Moffy to view.
"A gravity what?" Alan asks.
"A gravity well," Brains reiterates, "It's like a whirlpool sucking him down to Earth."
"Sounds really mean, but what do we do about it?" Marion asks as Scott grips tightly to his steering.
"I calculate you don't have enough engine thrust to climb out of it," Brains says as Thunderbird 1 and the Skyliner continue on the incline dive.
"But gravity can make him go faster," Alan realises pushing himself forward, "It was like when Kayo and I were in space and slingshot Thunderbird 3 around the sun."
"Of course," Kayo nods, "That will give him the thrust he needs to break free."
"Thunderbird 1! Accelerate to Nine G's!" Alan says.
"In an incline dive?! Are you crazy?" Scott asks.
"Trust him Scott," Kayo interjects, "We've done this before."
"Of course that was in space and we weren't towing a jet plane, but..." Alan trails.
"F-A-B, I guess," Scott frowns.
"Flight VT-G45," Marion calls, "Set thrusters to full. We're going for a ride."
"Wait 'till you reach Nine G," Alan orders.
Marion nods to Scott and Scott increases the thrust of Thunderbird 1. As they get closer to the ground, they can almost make out the whirlpool of air that is pulling them down to the ground. Scott grimaces as they quickly accelerate beyond six G.
"Seven point five," Marion notes as they get closer and closer to the ground at a rapid rate, "Eight point two... point six... point eight..."
"Nine G!" Scott exclaims.
"Now hit it!" Kayo calls and Scott flies both Thunderbird 1 and the Skyliner out of the well, missing the research centre by only a few hundred metres.
Marion releases the zipline and watches as the airliner flies off in the opposite direction to them and she breathes a sigh of relief. "Looks like you're good to go guys."
"Thank you, International Rescue," the pilot responds.
"Any time," Scott says, "Ah! That was close."
November 26th, 2060 - 13:06 CET
"YEAH!" Alan celebrates and hugs Kayo in relief that their plan worked. Kayo blushes but returns the gesture. They break away but still keep an arm around each other as they use their free hand to hi-five both Brains and Moffy.
"That was some quick thinking, guys. I'm impressed," Moffy says.
"Ah, it was Brains. He taught us all about it," Kayo states, "International Rescue would be nothing without him, you know."
"By the way, have you ever seen him without his glasses?" Alan asks.
"Oh, stop it!" Brains says and laughs nervously before clearing his throat, "Well, all we need to do is f-figure out what caused this gravitational anomaly."
"I think I can hazard a guess," Moffy replies grimly and walks them over to the collider, "Ever since we got the Collider up and running, we've been registering localized gravitational anomalies. That's why I asked you here."
"But the idea of graviton inducing a gravity well is only a theory," Brains muses.
"Okay, imagine for a second that we all don't have PHDs in particle physics," Alan interjects.
"A gravity well is like a giant vacuum cleaner," Moffy explains, "Sucking everything down to earth, but it's only a theory."
"Until now. When you activated the c-collider, there was just the right conditions to generate a g-gravity well and it p-pulled down the satellite," Brains says.
"What, so this wasn't The Hood?" Alan cries, "This was my fault!"
""Well, you did touch it last," Kayo deadpans.
"Then shut it down! Shut it all down!" Alan cries as Moffy runs over to shut it down.
"Supreme Hadron Collider offline," the voice says. However, several alarms are now ringing around the building and most of the scientists inside are running towards the emergency exits. Lose objects around the group start to float up as make there way towards the collider as if it were a giant magnetic.
"That should do it." Moffy winces
"Thunderbird 5, please rerun the gravitational scan," Brains asks.
"Bad news," John replies as he does another scan of the well, "The gravity well is still active and it's growing."
"But.. But we shut it down?" Alan says.
November 26th, 2060 - 13:23 CET
They are forced to take cover as the glass roof that makes up the cylindrical dome above the collider starts to crack under the pressure of the extra G-Force. Several panels even break away and come crashing down around them. Shards of glass scatter across the floor before floating upwards and heading through the sky like tiny bullets towards the collider. The whole room shakes.
"It's become self-sustaining," Moffy realises. They struggle to balance as the whole room shakes as if it's being hit by a large earthquake. "It's out of control."
"I'll be looking for something to grab onto," Brains states, "John scan the area overhead for potential hazards."
"You got it Brains," John responds, "How far up?"
"All the way," Brains orders.
"Clear up to twelve-hundred metres. Stratospheric region is a-okay," John replies as he continues doing his scan upwards. However, there is a sudden alarm as something large is picked up. "I've got something. And it's big. Oh, no. It's the Worldwide Space Station." John quickly turns around and tries to establish contact with the station. The is a couple of tones before his call is picked up. "WSS, this is International Rescue. Are you experiencing any problems?"
"Howdy there, neighbour. Negative," a female responds, "Everything here is a-okay— aaargh!"
"Shit!" John groans as he watches as the orange warning system is alerted as the WSS enters the gravity well, "International Rescue, we have a whole new situation."
"International Rescue," a man, with a recognisable voice, calls from the WSS, "We're being pulled out of orbit."
John watches a bright glow coming in the distance of Thunderbird 5. "It's gonna burn up like Grandma's cooking."
"I'll tow it out, just like I did with the jet plane," Scott suggests.
"N-Negative, Scott. It's too massive, it will take you down with it," Brains explains, "We need to stop the Supreme Hadron Collider physically. That's the only way to restore g-gravity to normal."
Suddenly, the group inside the QUARC feel themselves getting lighter and before they knew it, they find themselves floating into the air. Moffy and Brains' glasses come flying off and into the collider as it is sucked in along with pretty much everything else loose in the room. Alan and Kayo share a look of worry.
"We can't do it by remote. We'll have to do it on site. From there," Moffy says pointing to the Collider.
"That's fine, I'll go do it," Alan says determined.
"No. Gravity may be lessening here, but out there it's increase a hundred fold," Brains explains.
"Maybe I could get to it in the pod?" Alan asks.
"The p-pod's hull probably won't be able to survive the gravitational pull," Kayo says, "We would be sitting in a tin can."
"What about Thunderbird 3?" Alan questions.
"Thunderbird 3 is built for space flight. A procedure like this would require a vehicle that's been structurally reinforced. Something compact, b-built to withstand environments of extreme pressure," Brains says and pauses when an idea comes to mind, "I know just the thing!"
November 26th, 2060 - 14:18 CET
Thunderbird 2 arrives on scene of the gravity well. The well is now clearly visible as snow from the nearby peaks have been sucked into it creating a large white vortex that can be clearly seen coming out of the clouds. On board Thunderbird 2, Thunderbird 4 has been loaded into Module 6. Module 6 can store Thunderbird 4 just like Module 4, however unlike Module 4, Module 6 has an underside hatch and can store other pieces of equipment. It is the least used Module out of the six.
"The gravity well is like a tornado," Brains explains to Virgil, who prepares to enter the well, "It's calmest in its centre. You've got to make sure that Thunderbird 4 doesn't deviate from its p-path."
"You ready, Gordon?" Virgil asks.
"You do know Thunderbird 4 is a Class C Submersible, right? That means it operates best un-der wa-ter," Gordon says.
"Thunderbird 4 is the only with a chance of withstanding the intense forces you'll encounter," Brains explains.
"Did you say 'a' chance?" Gordon asks concerned.
"But first we need to get inside," Virgil says looking at a hologram of the gravity well, "Okay, here goes nothing." He enters the gravity well where Thunderbird 2 begins to struggle through before making it to the centre. "We're though. Thunderbird 2 is in position. Preparing for payload drop."
"It will be like fishing in a barrel," Alan explains to Gordon.
"And I'm on the end of the hook," Gordon says as Thunderbird 4 is lowered from the bottom of the module via a zipline, "I'm glad my suit's able to counter the pressure of the gravity. I must weigh three tons." Thunderbird 4 reaches a section of roof that hasn't been brought away yet and extends its mechanical arms, which Gordon controls using the joist sticks on his chairs arms. He uses one with the laser and fires it towards the section of roof to break away a small metal beam. This creates a hole large enough for the yellow submersible to fit through.
Inside, the group celebrate. However, Thunderbird 4 is swinging violently from side to side and Gordon is thrown about in his seat. He is glad he made the decision to put his helmet on beforehand. He spots a large wheel on top of a large metal canister and tries to grab it using the other mechanical arm that has a claw attachment on it. Eventually, he gets close enough to reach out and grab onto it.
"Bad news guys. I'm caught in the gravity well!" Virgil informs as Thunderbird 2 starts to get pulled towards the roof of the QUARC, "Increasing to maximum vertical thrust."
"HEY!" Gordon complains as his grip on the canister is ripped away. Thunderbird 4 is swung violently backwards, and almost crashes into the wall of the collider room, "Keep it steady up there!"
"I might not be able to fly into the heart of that gravity well, but at least I can help Thunderbird 2. I'm taking the pod," Alan says.
"Alan, the p-pod's thrusters won't provide enough lift," Kayo says.
"Well, it's better than being stuck here," Alan shrugs and starts to swim away. He holds down on the International Rescue logo on his red sash. "Hold on guys. I'm coming."
"No!" Kayo yells reaching out but Alan had already gone, "Fucking idiot."
"Hiram, I'm scared." Moffy admits.
"I find that in moments like this it's best to recite my fractal tables," Brains says.
"You're such a nerd. I like it," Moffy gushes and the two starts reciting them.
November 26th, 2060 - 14:23 CET
Alan quickly gets back to the pod and gets into the pilots seat. He takes off from the small landing pad and manoeuvres his pod to position it over Thunderbird 2. "Hey, bro. Thought you could a little help."
"Ha! From that tiny thing?" Virgil scoffs.
"Hey, you're not in a position to be choosy," Alan says and grapples onto Thunderbird 2 and does nothing to stabilize the craft.
"HEY! Watch it. Thunderbird 4 isn't insured," Gordon jokes.
"Awe, it's not working," Alan groans.
"I told you. That thing is too tiny," Virgil says.
"Huh, maximum thrust!" Alan says and as he does this Thunderbird 1 arrives on scene and grapples onto Thunderbird 2, this time stabilizes it, "Whoo! It's working! I did it!"
"Nice try little bro," Scott says, "Nice try."
"Thunderbird 4, what's your progress?" John asks.
"Okay I'm here. What now?" Gordon asks. He doesn't get a response and both Brains and Moffy start to argue on what would be the best way to shut it down. "Oh! We don't have time for a debate," he complains as Thunderbird 1 starts to struggle, pulling everyone further down again, "We gotta do something fast." Knowing that the WSS is burning up as they speak an idea suddenly pops into Gordon's head. "I know, maybe this will work." He fires a set of three missiles at the Super Hadron Collider, much to the horror of Brains and Moffy. They completely destroy it, stopping its spin and destroying the gravity well. The Thunderbirds fly away and head over to the landing pads at the entrance of the building.
"Good work. The gravity well has dissipated. Normal gravity is restored," John says.
Everyone lads their birds and head into QUARC and the guys and Marion walk together with Kayo running over to check if Alan was alright.
"Boy, I'm glad that's over," Gordon says, "I thought I was going to be squashed."
"Now that you mention it, you do look a little shorter," Alan says with an arm around Kayo. Gordon narrows his eyes at Alan when motions with his hand that he had shrunk. Gordon looks himself over while the group laughs.
"Oh, Hiram, the Supreme Hadron Collider is ruined," Moffy says, "My life's work."
"Don't worry Moffy, I've been thinking and I'm pretty sure I've worked out where it went wrong," Brains says, "With a few improvements it can be rebuilt even better than before. And of course, I'll help. It'll be..."
"Ultimate Hadron Collider," Moffy says.
"Well, I was thinking the Superlative Hadron—" Brains says and Moffy kisses his cheek, "Oh." This causes them to both giggle.
"I'm glad you're alright," Kayo whispers to Alan.
"What was there to worry about," Alan whispers back.
"You running off and trying to be the hero again," Kayo sighs, "Sometimes it's best just to know when you're at your limits."
"I promise not to do it again," Alan says causing Kayo to raise her eyebrows, "Okay, maybe not in the near future again."
"What you guys whispering about?" Scott asks.
"Nothing!" the pair say.
"If you're sure," Scott says with a questioning look.
"Come on Scott, lets head home," Marion says walking over and dragging him away. She turns to Alan and Kayo and throws a wink leaving the pair blushing slightly but Alan mouths a 'thank you' anyway.
It had been a long year.
END OF SEASON 1A
