Chapter 5: Under a Starry Sky

Shortly after I had disappeared into my bedroom, Maya had gone to sit back down on the couch to piece together her thoughts a bit, trying her best to process everything going on in her head.

Whitney had already finished setting the blanket and pillow up on the couch where she had planned to sleep, laying down under the covers and getting comfortable shortly after before breaking the awkward silence that was filling the room.

"So now that he's out of ears reach, I'm just gonna come right out with it." She said, effectively snapping Maya out of her trance like state.

"Huh-oh...sure, you had something to say?" She asked, her full attention now on Whitney.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but seems to me that you're head over heels for Hayden...like uh...in a romantic sense and all. That about right?" Whitney said, no holds barred at all.

Maya immediately jumps back a bit, fumbling over her words which wasn't exactly helping in her case.

"W...what d-d-do you...I mean, what are you even-"

Whitney just raises an eye at her, completely unconvinced given her reaction.

Maya pauses for a second, before taking a deep breath and letting out a big sigh.

Her entire face had become a deep shade of red as she simply nods in defeat, covering her face with her paws to hide her embarrassment.

Whitney lets out a little sigh herself before getting up from under the blanket, walking over towards Maya and sitting down next to her, giving her a pat on the back to reassure her a bit.

"I uh...I've had that hunch for a little while now, I just didn't want to say anything myself since I didn't feel that it was my place to. Also, that's why you've been getting so aggravated with me when I mess around with him...am I right?"

Without even looking up, she just nods. "Y...yeah kinda...sorry about that." She said through her paws, her face still buried within them causing her wording to be a bit muffled.

"No...um...if anything, I'm sorry. I had no ill intentions or anything towards you like that if that's what you've ever thought. I wasn't trying to make you jealous or anything."

"I feel so stupid for all of this. What am I even thinking...I'm a pokemon, he's a human...how could I let myself even begin to fantasize about something like that?" Maya asked, now looking straight at Whitney.

Whitney heaves a heavy sigh before doing her best to comfort her. "Well, while I will say that it's not super often that you hear things like this on a regular basis, it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. As a matter of fact...it's not exactly unheard of for a trainer to have a personal relationship like that with their pokemon sometimes. I've definitely heard stories of it before."

Maya looks at her almost unconvinced.

"With that being said, I don't think the way you feel is stupid at all, Maya. The way you're feeling is obviously genuine, and I think that's great!" She exclaimed, trying her best to lift Maya's spirit. "In fact, it's the complete opposite of stupid if you ask me...and hey let's be honest, Hayden's got an amazing personality, and he's definitely got the looks part down too, so who wouldn't fall for him?"

"Yeah...he...he definitely does. Um...Whitney...do you...like Hayden too?" Maya asked her directly, gaining a small noise out of surprise from Whitney.

"Ahaha...uh...well, I won't deny that I definitely have always kind of had a huge crush on him...but...in the past few years, I think that I've sort of convinced myself that nothing would ever happen between he and I, so I basically just gave up on pursuing him in that way. I promise you, the two of us are just super close friends now, though...maybe I do tend to be a little flirty with him sometimes out of force of habit." She said with a nervous chuckle.

"I..I see." Maya said, seemingly a bit down by the statement.

"Oh, but I promise it's just all in good fun!" She said, throwing her hands up frantically. "You see...when Hayden and I first met, for the first few months...I can't lie, I was DEFINITELY trying to get him to notice me. I was captivated by him for sure, but...no matter what I did I never seemed to get those feelings through to him, so he would always brush me off and...well, now here we are...just really good friends as I said."

As much as she'd hate to admit it, hearing that from Whitney definitely made her feel quite a bit better.

Suddenly Whitney grabs her hand to get her attention, startling her a bit in the process.

"Look I need to say something. I've known Hayden for quite some time now and you know...that face he made when he heard that you were leaving...I've...never seen him make that kind of expression...ever."

Maya tilts her head a bit in confusion. "What face?"

"I dunno...he just looked so...distraught, I guess."

"But...why? I...thought he would be happy for me now that mama found me..."

"Well I don't necessarily think that he wasn't happy FOR you...it's just...well..."

"It's just...what?"

"I just think he cherishes the relationship you two have built up a lot Maya, and maybe...he feels a little sad that you're...well...that you won't be here with him anymore. I think you guys have become quite close these last few months that you've spent together and he definitely feels it'll all go away now, that's all."

Maya eyes begin to swell ever so slightly as she fights back the brink of tears. "I don't understand any of this...I was so excited to hear that mama was coming and I felt so happy...but now at the same time, I...think I feel more sad now than anything...what is wrong with me?"

Whitney just simply chuckles, patting her paw a bit before letting go. "I think...that may be something you need to mention to him about on your own. Hey, can't give you all the answers now can I?"

"You...think so?"

Whitney just nods proudly before folding her arms. "Wouldn't steer you wrong now would I? I bet Hayden probably wants to talk to you about everything even more than you do...he just needs a little time to process it all. But I assure you, the two of you definitely need to have SOME type of talk, that's for sure.

She ponders for a moment before letting out a breath of air, looking Whitney in the eyes after. "I..I will then...I'll do just that!"

Whitney gives her a big smile and nods. "Atta girl, that's the spirit!"

After the two of them had their little talk, Whitney had laid down back in her spot as Maya went to get herself a blanket and pillow as well, setting up on the other couch where the two of them could have a bit of girl time until they would fall asleep.

Whitney, being a bit inebriated from earlier still, took almost no time at all to drift off...leaving Maya wide awake by her lonesome with only her thought's to keep her company.

"Arceus...what do I do now? I miss mama so much and I'm so excited to see her...but...this tightness in my chest, why am I so...conflicted?"

An hour or so passes as she lay there, staring at the ceiling in complete silence before finally attempting to rest her eyes, though it hadn't lasted very long.

Her eyes instantly shoot open as she heard the turning of the door handle to my room. With a stealthy peek over the side of the couch, she catches a glimpse of me coming down the hall, immediately retreating back to her normal position.

"Crap...do I ask him now? I'm...no it's too sudden...I'm not mentally prepared! Arceus...what do I do?"

"Haah...can't sleep for shit man." I say to myself as I walk into the kitchen to grab myself a drink, briefly peering over the countertop towards Whitney and Maya, who were both sound asleep on the couches.

"Well, at least THEY were able to." I said to myself before glancing at Maya in particular, sighing to myself as I try my best not to get upset again.

I grab myself a coke out of the refrigerator before making eye contact with the last few beers.

"Know what, fuck it." I said, grabbing a few of them as I set the coke back down in the icebox. "Can't sleep anyway, may as well finish these off on the back deck."

I walk back down my hallway to the outside door and walk out to the back deck, setting the beers down in the small mini fridge that I had next to my chairs and table before grabbing the buzzing phone within my pocket.

"Gotta be Frank again." I said to myself as I crack open one of the beers, opening my phone to read the text after.

-I'm just saying man, you definitely seemed off earlier. Didn't want to say anything in front of everyone is all, which is why I keep asking.

I take a sip of the beer, shaking my head a bit at his persistence.

-I mean, what do you want me to say bro? It was just super sudden, that's all. It caught me off guard.

I place the phone down on the table and take a few more sips before it quickly begins buzzing again.

"Oh for fucks sake Frank." I said, scoffing to myself a bit before grabbing the phone again.

-Are you THAT upset that she's leaving? You can tell me about it you know. I mean she HAS been here for a few months now, it would be weird for you not to feel some type of way about it.

"Man, why is he trying so hard at this...he usually just lets stuff like this go." I say to nobody in particular.

-Damn, a bit pushy today are we Frank?

-I'm just worried, never seen that type of look on your face earlier. If I'm being honest it almost looked like you were about to cry. You sure you're okay?

-Look, can't lie that it sucks a little, yeah. I mean her and I have gotten really close these past few months, and I just feel like the time flew by a bit too fast. But it is what it is, I knew this would come eventually but I'm happy for her man, and I was able to keep my promise so that's enough for me.

-Are YOU happy though? If that was the look of a happy man, then I'd hate to see when you're pissed off.

-Ha ha, hilarious. You know what I meant. Besides, this isn't about my happiness, it's about hers.

-Right, but there's something else you aren't telling me, and I know there is.

I mentally facepalm at his frightening ability in pushiness, though I know he means well.

-If there was, I would have told you.

-Bullshit.

-Come on Frank what else do you want from me.

-Jesus Hayden, I'm your best friend. Would it kill you to confide in me at least a little?

I stare at the phone screen after that message, probably longer than I would have liked to. He definitely had a way of convincing you.

-Look, maybe there was something else on my mind, but...I'm still trying to sort that out myself because of how insane it is to even think about.

-Knew it. Well, I'm all ears.

-No man, you don't understand...I'm not sure how to even tell you something like this.

-Uh easy, just say it dumbass.

-Frank, come on.

-Spill it.

I take the biggest mental breath of air before finally gaining the courage to tell him

-Look, if I say what I'm about to say, PROMISE you won't tell a single soul.

-Lay it on me. Hell, I'll even delete the messages afterwards.

-Frank, I swear to Christ bro...I MEAN IT.

-Hand to God I won't. C'mon, thought you knew me better than that.

I take a deep breath before steeling my nerves and preparing myself for what would most likely be the most serious conversation he and I have ever had.

-Look man...thing is...I think I may be attracted to Maya.

-That's it? -_-

I was a bit taken back by his nonchalant answer, causing me to look at my phone a little stupid.

-Fuck you mean "that's it?"

-Bro...I knew that the second you looked at her. You looked star struck. I mean let's be honest, Maya is very attractive for a pokemon, you can't deny that. So I'll say again, that was it?

-I don't know. Seeing her like that made me feel things. I mean shit, I'm ashamed to admit that I was even ogling her a bit, though I didn't mean to. I just feel so weird because this isn't something that just sprung out of nowhere...but I guess, maybe her new look just triggered it and made it all surface?

-Right. So, you love her then?

I had to pause momentarily as I had no idea how to even answer his question. I believe I knew within myself, but my mind wanted to just deny even the very thought itself.

-I mean of course I do, I've grown very accustomed to her presence. I mean I love you and Whitney and all too you know.

-Man, hell no, don't even try and pull that shit on me. I asked if you LOVE her, and don't act like you don't know what I mean.

I sit there, staring at the phone, conflicted with my own thoughts and feelings...but before I could respond to the message, I heard the back door suddenly open, effectively scaring me and causing me to almost toss my phone when I had jumped.

"Jesus!" I said, turning around to see none other than Maya standing in the doorway.

Immediately, my heart began to race due to the events from tonight, on top of the conversation I had just been having with Frank.

She covers her mouth with her paw to stifle a laugh when she realized what she had done.

"I'm sorry...I wasn't trying to startle you." She said in her newfound, more mature voice that I wasn't used to...like at all.

I tried my best to keep my composure as I take a deep breath and steel my nerves.

"Ha...very funny miss." I said, turning back around and taking a large gulp of my beer.

"Um...can I sit?" She asked, gesturing to the other chair. "I...can't sleep. Excitement I guess...hehe."

"Yeah...sure. You don't have to ask that you know. My home is your home...or...well...I guess it WAS now." I said with a nervous laugh at the end, trying my best to keep it light.

She just remains quiet and nods before sitting in the chair next to me.

We both sit for a few minutes without saying a word, listening to the crickets chirping alongside the peaceful ambience of the night.

"Pretty sky out tonight." She said, attempting to make some sort of conversation.

"Oh..um...yeah, it's beautiful..." I said, trying to do the same, seeing as this would probably be one of the last conversations in person that I'd ever get to have with her.

Another couple of minutes go by of silence as she sits there fiddling with her paws nervously.

"Um...sky's...really pretty tonight huh?"

I just raise my eye at her and couldn't help but chuckle a bit as I take the last sip of my beer. "You just said that you know."

"Oh right! Sorry...hehe..."

I could see that she was trying her hardest not to be awkward, so I decided to steel myself and take the lead. No matter how upset I was feeling, I wasn't about to ruin any of this for her.

"It's okay...sure you got a lot on your mind and all with such big news like this. Heheh...TOLD you we'd make it happen didn't I?" I said with a forced laugh before grabbing another beer out of the icebox to take my mind off the whole ordeal.

"Heh...yeah...you did." She says with a smile, though an unconvincing one at that.

"Hey come on now, this should be something to celebrate about, no? I mean, granted...it was a little sudden but hey, that's just how life is sometimes."

"Right...heh...of course." She said before glancing at the bottle on the table.

"Hmm, that's the stuff Whitney was drinking that made her all funny and stuff earlier. Would...I be able to be as carefree as she was?"

Suddenly, she gets a bit amped up as she grabs the beer from the table and begins downing it without hesitation.

"Wait Maya, that's alcohol! I don't think you're gonna like-"

She finishes it quickly before slamming the bottle down on the table and making a bit of a disgusted face.

"Pleh...it that stuff supposed to taste bad like that? Yech...hey...is it supposed to make you...feel like this?" She asked, shaking her head a bit as if she was trying to shake off the feeling.

I couldn't help but to start laughing a bit. While it may have been harmless only having one, I knew from the few times that Frank had given Angie even the slightest bit of alcohol that pokemon apparently had an extremely low tolerance.

"Hey...what's so funny?" She asked, already seemingly feeling the effects.

"Oh it's nothing...it's just that...well, you're just being you is all."

"Oh, and is that so bad mister?" She said, sticking her pointer finger on my chest and poking it a few times. "Well?"

"Actually..." I said, grabbing another beer and taking another sip myself. "I wouldn't change a thing about you Maya...you're perfect the way you are if you ask me."

"Ah...oh...um..." She instantly pulls back, turning away to hide her face from embarrassment. "T-Thanks I guess..."

I sat there for a few more seconds before a thought crosses my mind and I couldn't help but to chuckle a bit.

"Hey, do you remember your first week here with me? We sat out here like this, just the two of us, while I taught you a little about constellations...and you kept messing the names up hahah."

"What? No I didn't!"

"Oh? Old lions belt instead of orion?"

She finally turns her attention back to me with eyes at half mast.

"Ah can't forget the big dicker and little dicker...heh, those were my favorite ones." I said trying my best to keep myself from busting out laughing.

"Oh, well SOOOORRRY that I messed up on something that I never heard of before!" She said, finally smiling a bit as she backhanded my shoulder playfully, seemingly back to her normal self even if just a little.

"And the first time I taught you how to use the grill? Yeesh, you burnt the shit out of that fish for sure. You kept insisting on one more try and next thing you know, you burnt every piece and we ended up having to settle for cup ramen that night." I said, taking another sip of my beer as I continued reminiscing.

"Oh yeah? What about when I tried teaching you how to do the trick with my flower? You tried so many times and got so annoyed at yourself because of how easy it was for me." She said, folding her arms proudly with a smug grin. "What can I say? I'm great at my magic you know!"

"Heh...yeah, you are pretty great, won't deny that...in more ways than one honestly." I said, seemingly letting my inner thoughts seep out a bit easier due to the alcohol.

"Eh...heh...y-yeah! At least you know!" She said, trying her best to keep her composure as her face began getting redder by the second.

"Aw what's wrong?" I said, now taking full advantage of the upper hand I apparently had. "Little bit of praise making you embarrassed?"

"Tch, me? I'm...I'm not embarrassed!" She said, clearly quite the contrary.

"Hmmmmmmm?" I said, staring at her smugly. "You sure about that one?"

"Hayden, I mean it! I'll fight ya!"

"Oh, please what're you gonna do? Tickle me to death?" I said, teasing her a bit to get a rise out of her.

"Don't underestimate me!" She said, glaring at me for a few seconds before reaching out and tickling my sides right as I took a sip of my beer, effectively causing me to spit it out.

"Ah, hey I was...heheh...I was trying to drink my...hah...hey...stop it shit head!...hahah!"

"Too late, you started it!" She said smugly as she continued.

I stood up from my chair at an attempt to break away, though she followed and stood up herself, continuing with what she was doing.

"Damnit Maya...hah...hahah! You...you asked for it!" I said, retaliating and tickling her back under her arms which I had already known was her weak spot. This hadn't exactly been the first time that her and I have done this. Problem for her was that I was almost always the winner in the end every time this kind of thing happened.

She let's out a little shriek before laughing as I began attacking said weak spot. "Hey...hahahh...stop that's not fair!"

"Oh, how so?" I said, continuing to tickle her before moving up a bit behind her ears in an attempt to see what type of reaction I would get from her.

Needless to say, I wasn't prepared at all for the reaction that I got.

"Heh, what about your ears huh? Wonder if you're still ticklish behind your-"

"N..Nyaa..." She suddenly said with a low moan before covering her mouth with her paws.

This effectively stopped me in my tracks, as I had never heard that noise come from out of her ever.

I wasn't sure if it was just the alcohol making me feel the way that I did, but her little moan made a feeling well up inside me that I wouldn't ever admit to her out loud.

"Did...did you just say...nyaa?"

"NYOO!" She said, instantly covering her mouth back up again as she fumbled her word yet again.

I began to laugh a bit again before finally releasing her from my attacks. "Heh...sorry I guess I went too far...guess now you just have to admit that I won huh?"

"Oh, as if! You just caught me off guard and-eh?"

As soon as she stepped towards me, she had tripped over the leg of the chair, causing her to lose her balance and fall forward towards me.

"Maya watch-!"

As soon as I caught her in my arms, I was unable to keep my balance from the force of her falling forwards, causing me to land on my back with a bit of a hard thud.

Luckily I had caught her in the midst of the fall, though nothing could have exactly prepared me for what came afterwards.

"Ah...shit." I said, rubbing the back of my head. "Hey are you o...kay..."

There she was, propping herself up with both of her arms at the sides of my face as she hovered over me, staring directly into my eyes with her now unmasked face.

"I...I'm sorry, I didn't hurt you did I?" She asked, still unaware that her mask had mysteriously disappeared.

I don't know what had come over me, I simply felt captivated by her. I felt like a complete idiot for staring at her in silence for so long.

She finally takes notice of the missing mask, turning beet red before she finally faces away and covers her face with one of her arms.

"S...Stop, you're staring too much..."

"I...I'm sorry I didn't mean to you're just...so...um..."

I stopped myself before saying something purely on impulse on the spur of the moment.

"Ahem...uh...it's..nothing. You didn't hurt your ankle or anything did you?"

She just shakes her head before slowly looking back towards me and hesitantly uncovering her face. "N..no, I'm okay."

I nod before swallowing the lump in my throat. "I uh...didn't actually know you could make your mask disappear like that...heh...pretty cool." I said, trying my best to break the awkward silence.

She remained silent as she sat completely still, her attention focused away from me.

"What's wrong Maya?" I asked her genuinely.

She pauses for a moment before taking a deep breath, still focusing her attention away from my face.

"Hayden...I want to ask you something."

"Oh...uh, okay...I'm all ears.

"Are you...happy about tomorrow?"

"Ah." I simply said, unprepared for such a sudden serious question. "What made you ask that?"

"Just...curious."

I rub my chin a bit in thought as I tried my best to find the right words to say.

"Well...of course I am. I told you, I was happy that I got to fulfill my promise to you and make you happy, so of course I'm happy!" I said with a forced smile. It was as if I myself had been the one that I was trying to convince.

She sits there for a moment without saying anything, as if awaiting something else.

"I mean...don't get me wrong, it's bittersweet of course. But it's not like we'll never talk again or anything right? You do have your phone you know...so just because you're going away doesn't mean we won't talk. You can text me or video call me or anything anytime, it's not like I'm gonna stop paying the service on the phone or anything. I bought it for YOU."

She hesitates for a moment before finally looking directly into my eyes. "Hayden...what...what am I to you?"

I tilt my head a bit in confusion, unsure what exactly she was getting at. "What do you mean? You're Maya. You're...well, you're you of course."

She opens her mouth for a second as if she was about to say something, before quickly closing it and remaining silent.

"Come on...is that the best I can do? For God's sake she's leaving tomorrow and that's the best I can say?"

I take a deep breath before looking off into the distance at nothing in particular.

"I mean...what can I say Maya...these past few months together have been wonderful for me. Just being around you has been enough to make me smile without a second thought. Subconsciously, I think you've given me something extra to wake up and look forward to every day."

Her ears perk up a bit before she turns towards me with a much more serious look on her face now as I had her full attention.

"Don't get me wrong, I know I have Frank, Whitney and my cousin close at hand, so I've never really actually been a loner per se...but...with you here it's been different. With you, I truly FEEL like I'm not alone...like, there's always someone right here at my side no matter what. I know it hasn't been extremely long, our time together, but just in the little bit that we have been, you've managed to somehow brighten the little dark parts of my world up without even remotely trying...and for that...I thank you."

After pouring that out, I just let out a big sigh as if at least a small weight had been lifted from my shoulders.

I glance back up at her before giving her a reassuring smile. "With that being said, you had better keep in touch with me and-huh?"

Suddenly I noticed a few stray tears falling down her cheek before she stares directly into my eyes, sniffling a bit as she wipes her cheek with her paw.

"Maya...I didn't mean to-"

Before I could say anything else, she began shaking her head frantically, effectively stopping me in my tracks.

"No...it's okay." She said before finally standing up. "I promise...I will."

I stand up myself, dusting my back off a bit before shoving my hands into my pockets. "Well uh...I guess, we should probably try to get some sleep then. Gotta...gotta get up early and all." I said, almost wanting to cry now that the reality was all hitting me once again.

She smiles half heartedly and nods before turning towards the door to walk inside, stopping as soon as she had grabbed the door handle.

"Something the matter?" I asked.

She remains silent, hand still on the doorknob.

I tilt my head a bit in confusion before walking up behind her and putting my hand on her shoulder. "Hey, everything okay?"

She just nods almost barely noticeably. "Yeah...I'm okay."

Suddenly she quickly lets go of the door, spinning around 180 degrees and taking a step closer to me.

"Wait..n-no...I'm not okay...I..I want to ask again!" She said, almost pleadingly. "Are you...are you really happy that I'm going?"

I begin to open my mouth for a moment, almost choking on my words as they come up, knowing that I wasn't saying what I really wanted to say.

"I'm happy FOR you, Maya. That's all that matter-"

"That ISN'T all that matters!" She said, raising her voice a little out of desperation. "Just tell me...please..."

I just stood there in silence for a moment, confused to the sudden outburst. "I...I don't...I mean..."

After fumbling my words a bit, I just ended up going completely silent, almost numb to my own feelings.

She bites her lip as if to hold back from crying before her ears go limp. She turns back around towards the door before opening it, pausing for only a moment.

"I'm...going to sleep. Sorry I shouted like that...I'll be ready first thing in the morning, I promise."

Without even missing a beat, she disappears into the house, shutting the door behind her softly and leaving me outside by myself with nothing but the chirping of crickets and the quiet night atmosphere.

After a bit of silence, I finally sit back down in the chair, leaning back as I glance up at the starry night sky once more, now truly feeling empty for the first time in a long time.

With a heavy sigh, I grab the last beer from the mini fridge before cracking it open and taking a sip.

"What is wrong with me..." I said to myself, staring off into the distance before pulling my phone back out to take my mind off things.

3 new messages The phone read.

"Oh, right...probably Frank from earlier." I sigh to myself as I unlock the phone.

Once I went to my messages I saw that only one of them was from Frank, and the other two from an unknown number.

The message from Frank read:

-Look man, if you really don't wanna answer then fine. But just know I'm trying to help. You're my best friend and I just wanna see you happy bro. Just holler if you need anything.

I just scoff to myself and smile. "What a guy."

-Thanks man, I will.

After sending the message, I decide to open the others from the unknown number.

"Who else would be texting me at...huh?"

Midway through my sentence, I open the conversation and my question was instantly answered.

-Hello Hayden.

-It is Angie, Frank gave me your number.

I couldn't help but to laugh a bit at the way she had texted so stiffly.

-Hello Angie, it is me, Hayden.

I texted her back in the same type of tone, jokingly trying to lighten my mood up a little.

Surprisingly she texted back rather quickly.

-Yes, hello there.

-Why are you texting like a robot?

-I do not understand, I am just typing normally. This is how I always type.

I just shrug my shoulders, deciding not to press too much.

-I gotcha, just figured Frank would have maybe shown you how to abbreviate some things or like, use text lingo and all. But I digress, any particular reason you needed to text me? Not that I mind of course.

-Did Maya talk to you about the thing?

-About what thing?

-If you do not immediately know what I mean, then I fear she did not.

-I mean, she came outside and we talked a little before she went to sleep, but that was it. Nothing unordinary.

-So then she did not. That is unfortunate really.

-She...did not what? What was she supposed to be talking to me about? Just about her leaving and all?

-It is not my place to say.

I groan a bit as I hated having things kept from me, especially if it was important.

-I mean...was it something important? She did ask me if I was happy for her. That what you're talking about?

-No it isn't, but what did you say?

-Well...of course I told her yes, I'm just happy to see her happy that's all.

-I see.

-Is THAT what you were talking about then?

-It is not, no.

-Uh alright, well then what else would it be other than that?

-I will not say, that is for her to do when the time is right.

I could feel myself staring to get a little upset now, knowing that the time that she was mentioning, wasn't exactly very lengthy now.

-I mean, she's leaving tomorrow. I'm not entirely sure when else the 'right' time would be. What else should I even be doing at this point?

-You can only wait for her to do so on her own, when she feels it is right.

-Yeah, well...maybe it would help if you at least gave me a hint. Maybe then I could get her to spill the beans herself.

-What would she have beans for?

I couldn't help but to physically laugh out loud a little at her reply.

-Haha, nevermind. Are you sure that you can't at least give me some type of hint?

-I am sorry, but I've said all that I can. I can only hope she tells you soon. Happy night Hayden.

-Oh come on now you can't leave me hanging like that.

-I did not think you were hanging from anything though?

I lower my eyes to half mast, chuckling a bit again at the fact that she wasn't fully familiar with terms like these yet it seemed.

-Ah..it's nothing. Goodnight Angie, thanks for the little talk.

After waiting around for a few minutes, she had never texted me back so I could only assume that she had probably gone to bed herself, once again leaving me to my own.

I sigh after checking the time on my phone before placing it in my pocket. "Jesus, 11 o clock already."

I finish off the last little bit of my beer before stretching out a little bit, propping my feet up on the table as I open the netflix app on my phone. "Guess I won't be sleeping much tonight."
