Chapter Thirteen

"… … I see… This is it, then. Ready?" Asgore said as he turned towards them, and revealed the six human souls in containers along with an empty one.

The child's soul appeared as the battle began.

A strange light fills the room.

Twilight is shining through the barrier.

It seems your journey is finally over.

You're filled with DETERMINATION.

"Human. It was nice to meet you. Goodbye," Asgore said with a heavy heart, and brought forth a large red trident.

With it, he striked the Mercy button, as the child and the positive and negative voices were stunned. Wielding the trident with both hands and his head low to not look directly at them, Asgore stood ready to battle. The child, with the positive voice leading them, began the battle by trying to reach out to Asgore the best she could with Act, which indeed made him stagger a little, but she still had to try to survive against him. Although the positive voice tried not to fight, and did well to survive as much as they could against him, although falling a few times, they soon realized that they had no choice in the matter but to battle. This at first angered the positive voice, feeling fooled into believing they didn't have to fight at all, but at the same time, they were determined to keep the human alive and do what they can to live. The battle became trying to make contact, to now full survival, as the positive voice instructed to attack. Realizing their situation, the child no longer held back as she fought against Asgore to make him come to reason through her attacks their feelings, and to break the barrier that the King had built in himself.

Finally, with a full strike from the human, Asgore fell on his knee as he dropped his weapon with a small bit of hp left.

"Ah… So that is how it is…. I remember the day after my son died. The entire underground was devoid of hope. The future had once again been taken from us by the humans. In a fit of anger, I declared war. I said I would destroy any human that came here. I would use their souls to become godlike… and free us from this terrible prison. Then, I would destroy humanity… And let monsters rule the surface, in peace. Soon, the people's hopes returned. My wife, however, became disgusted with my actions. She left this place, never to be seen again. Truthfully… I do not want power. I do not want to hurt anyone. I just want everyone to have hope… But… I cannot take this any longer. I just want to see my wife. I just want to see my child. Please… Young one… This war has gone on long enough. You have the power… Take my soul, and leave this cursed place.

+Fight Mercy

The child contemplated his words, taking into accouint everything that had happened. The positive voice was questionable.

"After everything I've done to hurt you, you would rather stay down here and suffer… than live happily on the surface?" Asgore asked.

"How could I live happy that I killed someone to get what I wanted? And to leave behind friends I made here… for myself? Alone?" The child responded, and the King felt a sense of ease on his weary soul that he hadn't felt in so long.

"Human, I promise you, For as long as you remain here… My wife and I will take care of you as best we can. We can sit in the living room, telling stories… eating butterscotch pie… We could be like… Like a family…" Asgore said in delight.

However, a circle of pellets appeared around the king…

+ Here he is…

And attacked him…

+ You little jerk… interrupting…

And as his soul appeared, the last pellet destroyed it.

+ Okay… that's it… I'm not playing around with this little freak… this ends now.

Then the little golden flower, Flowey appeared, "You IDIOT. You haven't learned a thing… In this world, it's KILL or BE killed."

The human souls appeared as they circled around Flowey, and the child prepared herself as Flowey absorbed the souls.

Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: HUMANS and MONSTERS.

One day, they all disappeared without a trace.

Upon entering a new world of Flowey, the child reached a save point marked The End. However, it began to crack as it said file erased, and Flowey's big head appeared before them on what seemed to be a screen.

"Howdy! It's me, FLOWEY. FLOWEY the FLOWER! I owe you a HUGE thanks. You really did a number on that old fool. Without you, I NEVER could have gotten past him. But now, with YOUR help… He's DEAD," Flowey monologued as creepily as he could.

+And you're going to be… soon…

"And I'VE got the human SOULS! Boy! I've been empty for so long… It feels great to have a SOUL inside me again. Mmm, I can feel them wriggling…"

+ Ew…

"Awww, you're feeling left out, aren't you? Well, that's just perfect. After all, I only have six souls. I still need one more… Before I become GOD. And then, with my newfound powers… Monsters. Humans. Everyone. I'll show them all the REAL meaning of this world. Oh, and forget about escaping to your old SAVE FILE. It's gone FOREVER. But don't worry. Your old friend FLOWEY… Has worked out a replacement for you! I'll SAVE over your own death. So you can watch me tear you to bloody pieces… Over, and over, and over…"

"+Yeah no, I don't think so. I didn't come this far to be thwarted by the likes of you," the positive child said.

"what? Do you really think you can stop ME? Hee Hee hee… You really ARE an idiot," Flowey responded back.

As his face disappeared, the six souls blinked into focus, as the human remembered each one while her own soul appeared. Then the grotesque of hell beast appeared as the full form of Flowey came forth with gross viney arms, fleshy eyes with an awkward mouth, tubes protruding from all around, and a screen with a disoriented face on it. He laughed like the sicko he is as the battle began, with the screen changing images, while the child dodged each attack along with the positive voice leading them to fight as she did so. The positive voice and the child were both in sync, knowing that no matter what, they were going to survive, and that they would be the ones to tear Flowey to bits, especially the positive voice.

As the battle progressed, a warning appeared on the screen as the atmosphere would change and show a soul. Upon surviving that round of attacks, the human reached forth to Act and call for help. In response, the soul reacted to this call and transformed from Cyan to Orange, giving healing to the child. The battle with Flowey began again, as the child survived the next wave of attacks as through each time, a warning showed a human soul, and after calling out to them, the soul responded and changed to heal the human.

From Cyan to Orange, Orange to Blue, Blue to Purple, Purple to Green, Green to Yellow, Yellow to Cyan.

Upon reaching out to all the souls, the human souls came forth from the screen and gave the human more healing and rushed off, as the human came face to face with Flowey. This time, they were damaging him considerably when his defense dropped to zero. They kept giving it their all as the human souls would drop gifts of healing to them.

Finally reaching the end of Flowey's health bar, the little devil put on his act of dying and just healed himself by reloading.

"You IDIOT."

Flowey then sent a barrage of attacks and reloads against the human multiple times, leaving them worn by the last attack and surrounding them with pellets.

"Hee hee hee. Did you really think… You could defeat ME? I am the GOD of this world. And YOU? You're HOPELESS. Hopeless and alone… Golly, that's right! Your WORTHLESS friends… can't save you now. Call for help. I dare you. Cry into the darkness! "Mommy! Daddy! Somebody help!" See what good it does you!" Flowey taunted.

+Quite specific phrasing…

The human called for help, but nobody came.

"Boy! What a shame! Nobody else… Is gonna get to see you DIE!"

An attempted attack by Flowey only healed the human as she smirked.

"What? How'd you…? Well, I'll just…" Flowey then realized he couldn't reload, his face becoming distressed.

"Where are my powers?" He said.

The Six souls then appeared before him, answering the call.

"The souls… What are they doing?" Flowey said, as they began their attack.

"NO! NO! NO! YOU CAN'T DO THAT! YOURE SUPPOSED TO OBEY ME! Stop! STOP IT! STOOOOOOP!" He screamed out, as the souls attacked and sent a flash of light around.

Seeing a weaken and defeated Flowey, the positive voice only laughed at their despair, as the human was given an option.

FIGHT MERCY

"…. Do you really think I learned anything from this? No," Flowey reacted to the Mercy button being hit.

+ Of course not, but your suffering is grand to me… and your hypocrisy by telling me I learned nothing before.

As the human and positive voice decided to Spare the broken flower, he told them distinctly that he would kill everyone and everyone they love if they let him go as if begging to die. But because Flowey wanted to die, the positive voice would not heed to his whim, for they hated him and would kill him only if he wished not to die.

"… why… why are you being… so nice to me? I can't understand. I can't understand! I just can't understand…" Flowey said and then ran away.

+ Funny… I'm not actually being nice at all

The human then regained her form, and walked ahead to an open door as everything turned white and disappeared. Some time passed by, as a call was received by the human, who seemed unaware of herself and where she truly was. Answering the call, the human listened because she couldn't find her voice as the positive voice also listened in with her.

"heya. is anyone there...? well … Just calling to say. You made a snowman really happy…. Guess I should say something else too, I guess… so… it's been a while..."

Sans then said that the Queen had returned and made a new policy to treat any humans who fell their as friends and not enemies, and that the humans souls collected disappeared. He also mentioned although everyone is sad over the loss of the king, the queen is trying her hardest to give them hope. Papyrus also took hold of the phone when Sans handed him the phone and relayed to them about being the Captain of the Royal Guard and watering plants while Alphys was trying to find a way to get them out of there. Undyne also came over and nugged the phone as she said she quit being the Royal Guard since they won't be fighting anymore and disbanded. Also, Undyne apologized about what happened with Asgore and didn't blame the human for what he did, as she expressed how much she missed him too. She mentioned Alphys is the same but more reclusive then normal, which also bothered the human since she didn't turn back to see her although knowing she couldn't. What bothered the positive voice was that everyone who spoke didn't mention the human on the surface, just wherever they were. Apparently, Toriel was too busy to talk though, but they said for the kid to call anytime. Though Sans mentioned the battery of his phone was dying, so everyone said their goodbyes.

However, the call didn't end with a click, as after the sound of movement, Sans came back on the phone,

"… actually… i think there is one more person who you'd like to hear from… here you go, dear… it's your friend."

The phone was then given to the child's friend, as her eyes widened hearing her voice,

"Hey there… it's been a while… I've missed ya. And… well… I hope everyday that you're doing okay… I'm sure you might be a bit surprised to know that I'm still here, and if Toriel came out of the Ruins, why didn't I go up? Well… I can't anymore…"

The child listened to Curtain carefully, as she could hear such a melancholy that she didn't have before they departed,

"… I… seem to have sustained an injury on one of my wings… and just a little scar on my eye, but I can still see… sort of… apparently a little while after you were gone… Corruption attacked so I went ahead with some monsters to fight her off in New Home, and we stopped her but… I got hurt pretty bad and now my wing is scarred too so I won't be flying… but it's not so bad, I'm getting… getting used to it. Everyone has been nice so far, and Sans too… so don't worry… I still hope one day… that I get to see you again, and my other friends on the surface… bye for now… m-my friend…"

"… well, hopefully you do come back… so that i don't have to see her sad anymore…" Sans added when given back the phone.

Click.

The child felt pain in her heart, as the positive voice felt such sympathy and unrest. Then Flowey appeared again, mentioning that kindness hurts you and those around you, considering the monsters lost the human souls. He questioned their actions, but obviously explaining this to him may not get him to understand since as he said earlier he can't. Then Flowey mentioned that they should reload the save file, and maybe be friends with Alphys to see if that changes anything. After Flowey departed, the human decided to reload the file again.

Reload.

Upon doing so, the child returned to the world of the underground just outside where she would battle the king. Instead of going forward, the child collected herself and made a mad dash backwards to see what she can do with the second chance she got.
