Chapter Eighteen
Later:
Curtain and Frisk found an inn in the Curtain's hometown to stay for a while. The innkeeper knew Curtain and was glad to let the two stay the three nights for free. They walked around the town as Frisk saw that it was a pretty big place though still nice and town-like with the few monuments that remained there as part of the old town's history. Considering Curtain's speed of flight, the Monsters took a while to get there, though Curtain decided to help introduce the town to the Monsters since Frisk asked her if they could try there since the town knew her and her father. She then brought the human a little aways from the town to the more rural side and found a lovely patch of land with a garden and plant farm nearby. They descended and walked ahead as Curtain sent a text message before landing. Frisk was examining the green house they were walking to and saw a lady walk out from inside.
Her hair was a lovely red that reached just below her waist with bangs and a few curled hair amoung her hair. She wore a white sundress with grey stockings and kneehigh bronze boots and a grey open jacket since the wind was a bit chilly that day, and orange gloves with puffy white tops on them. Her eyes were shimmering orange like a sunset, and she had a light pink lipglosss on that shined in the light. Her skin was tanned lightly since she was working outside more often, and she had a small blue heart choker with a grey band around her neck.
"Curtain! Hello! I'm so glad you're back!" She called out as she ran over.
"Marisol! It's been too long my friend!" Curtain said as she ran to her.
The two hugged and patted each other on the back pretty hard, as they parted and laughed.
"How have you been, Curtain? I saw you flying! You flew here! I'm so glad you found what you were looking for! I take it you did, right?" Marisol asked.
"Indeed I did, my friend. It wasn't easy and pretty crazy, but we made it through! I also made a good friend down there, and friends with the Monsters too," Curtain said, as she pointed to Frisk while she approached.
"Hi. I'm Frisk. It's nice to meet you," Frisk said as she offered her hand.
"Hello Frisk! I'm Marisol. It's so very nice to meet you. And seeing as your a good friend of Curtain, you must be quite a person, huh?" Marisol said with a sweet smile, as Frisk nodded.
"You must be too, I take it," Frisk said.
"Heehee. Aw, that's sweet," Marisol said.
"Yep! You won't find a sweeter gal then Marisol here. Even plants love Marisol. Sunflowers turn to her when she walks by from how bright she is" Curtain said.
"Stop, that's too nice of you, Curtain," Marisol said with a laugh.
"So you guys have known each other for a long time?" Frisk asked.
"Heck yeah. All out lives almost. Since we were kids," Curtain answered.
"I've also met Curtain's parents as she has met mine, so we definitely know each other well. Our parents were friends too," Marisol clarified.
"Oh wow! So you met Curtain's mom and dad," Frisk said.
"Heehee. Yeah, they were really kind and friendly people. And most importantly loved Curtain. Which who wouldn't love Curtain? She's just as great if not greater then they were. My heart goes out to them for having my best friend in the world," Marisol said.
"Aww dang… don't get me emotional, Marisol!" Curtain said with her hands on her hips.
"Hey, you gave me a nice complement. I have to give one back! Also, are you two hungry? I made some avocado chicken rolls if you'd like some," Marisol asked.
"Oh heck yes, you make the best and freshest food. I mean, you do grow it and your parents so its really the best," Curtain said.
"Thanks. I'm sure they'll be happy to see you too. Come along, and you too Frisk. Let me introduce you," Marisol said as she lead them to her house.
"Oh! Mari! We would like your help with something," Curtain said, and nudged Frisk.
"Yeah, we were wondering if you could help us by introducing the Monsters to the town? You know, to get everyone situated and to live peacefully. I got to know all of them so I'm sure everyone will get along. I would like to have like maybe a gathering or something. If they can live here peacefully, then we should be able to expand too," Frisk said.
"Oh wow, that sounds great. As long as they are nice, I have no problem with that. And I'd love to help out," Marisol said.
"Nice. We'll have you and our closest friends meet them all first. So the gathering will purposely be for them to reel in curious folks," Curtain said.
"Ahh, I like it. Good strategy there," Marisol said.
"Sounds great. We can talk more about it as we eat," Frisk suggested with a smile, as the two ladies nodded.
Later on, at a rented catering place:
"Thanks for letting us rent this place, Joe. I owe ya," Curtain said to the kind, burly man with short black hair and black suit.
"I'm just glad to help, Curtain. Hope this all goes well for you and the Monsters on their return," Joe said with a smile.
Curtain went along to see her friends among the small crowds of people. One guy noticed her and waved with his big blue eyes and mohawked black hair in a dark blue suit.
"Hey Curtain! Nice to see you! You look good," Kelvin, the guy, greeted her.
"Hey Kelvin. It's been a while since you've been here huh?" She asked.
"Yeah. And you still look as pretty as ever. It's a shame you don't like me," Kelvin said.
"What can I say dude? We're better as friends," Curtain said with a shrug.
"Yeah. But now you got a boyfriend I heard. Is he nice to you? He better be! If he's going out with you, he should be," Kelvin said.
"Yeah, he's on his way. Be nice to him, I really like him a lot," Curtain said with a pointed finger.
Kelvin lifts his hands up and said, "I will, I will! Don't worry. I had my sleepness nights to cry over you a long time ago."
"Hey, don't bother her, Kelvin," Another voice came in as they turned to see two people approach them.
One was a female human with brown eyes and curly medium long light-brown hair, a white blouse dress with a yellow belt on her waist that reached the floor, and a green translucent scarf on her neck with a green clutch. The other was a human male with green eyes covered with dark blue shades, brown messy hair that was styled that way, and a green vest suit with black pants and a black jacket he held over his shoulder.
"Karol. Joseph. It's been a while," Curtain said with a smile as she greet the girl, Karol, with a cheek kiss, and the guy, Joseph with a strong handshake.
"It's nice to see you again Curtain. Everyone missed having you around. You were always joking or helping someone, and everyone really missed that. Even the pranks," Joseph said, with a smile.
"Yeah! Everyone is so happy you returned safe, especially us here! We're glad to help out with the introduction of the Monsters and all," Karol said, gleefully.
"Best girl finally came back home," Kelvin added.
"Hey! I heard you bothering her! You know you shouldn't, Kelvin!" Karol once again scolded.
"Whaaat? I'm not doing anything! I'm just talking," Kelvin said.
"Well, let me check on the others and Frisk. You guys met her right?" Curtain asked.
"Swell kid," Kelvin
"Oh she's very sweet," Karol
"Funny too," Joseph
Cutain nodded and then walked along, though not used to wearing heels even though they were only half an inch high purple boots. Nor was she used to wearing a dress as Marisol was, who she happened to see talking to two other people. Marisol had another sundress of orange with a green sash and white heeled boots with white gloves and orange manicured nails and lipstick, along with a green bow clip on the side of her head. The two others who were with her was two human males: One looked like Kelvin but taller since Kelvin was short and had regular spiked hair with half covering one of his hazel eyes and wore a black suit with a green tie. The other had blue-green eyes with light blue hair that reached his shoulders if not for the natural curves that made it curl up, and he wore a black suit with a purple tie.
"Hey Corvin, Jonathan! How you two have been? Been keeping Kelvin out of trouble, Corvin? How's your collection been, Jonathan?" Curtain greeted as she shook their hands.
"Been very good, Curtain. My little bro has been doing better. Less trouble and more responsible," Corvin replied.
"It's great to see you, Curtain. And it's been expanding. Since I moved to a bigger place I finally have room to display it all," Jonathan replied.
"I've been telling them about you're time underground with the other monsters," Marisol said.
"Nice. So everyone met Frisk and is informed, yeah?" Curtain asked.
"Just one more person, though by how long her and Frisk have been talking I think she knows now," Marisol said as she gestured to where Frisk and a tall woman were talking.
Curtain's eyes brightened as she walked over to them, as Marisol waved at the guys and followed her. Frisk was happily speaking to the lady, especially from how patient and kind she was to the child. When Curtain and Marisol came over and said hi, Curtain hugged the woman as she hugged back. The woman had blonde hair up to her shoulders that was curly on the bottom along with long bangs that reached the tip of her nose but was cut for her gold eyes to see. She had an atheletic built as Curtain and Marisol did though less so to her, and she wore a black one-shoulder dress with a gold heart pin on the shoulder as the dress reached down to her ankles. She had a gold sash on her waist with gold heels and white gloves that reached her elbows and a white bag over her empty shoulder.
"Ah there's my little Curtain," She said as she hugged her back.
"Caroline… I'm so glad to see you. Heh, since calling me little?" Curtain said as they backed from the hug.
"Of course. You'll always be little to me. Well, I mean everyone is, but to me I'll always remember you since I remember seeing you as a baby," Caroline said with a smile.
"I didn't know she took you in, Curtain. That's so nice," Frisk said.
"Heh. She's been the best godmother I could ever ask for," Curtain said with a smile.
"And I see you've learned well to take care of someone. Judging by Frisk here and how cleancut and cute she is, I'm glad to know a good part of me rubbed off on you," Caroline said with a wink.
"Hehehe. You're the best though, Caroline. And thanks," Curtain said with a nod.
Caroline went ahead to talk to the others, as the three girls stood waiting at the doorway for the Monsters to arrive. Curtain and Frisk walked outside to show the Monsters they were there as Marisol waited inside. The Monsters chosen to attend headed over there nicely dressed for the occasion, as they say the two waiting.
Curtain had a black dress that reached her knees and black stocking under with the halfcalf white boots, as she let her hair loose with a feather pin of multiple colors in a flower shape rested on the side of her head. Her black dress had a purple sash and shoulder straps, and had little designs of multiple colors that matched the flower but was mostly purple. Frisk wore a blue dress that a pink sash and brown small heeled shoes along with white stockings and a golden flower on her head.
The Monsters greeted them and gave their complements as they returned them. Even a certain skeleton wore a suit his brother told him to wear, which catch the eye of a certain hyrbid as he too couldn't keep his eyes off her. The two then walked in to tell Marisol that the Monsters arrived as she nodded and waited by the door to be the first to greet them. Curtain stood next to her as Frisk led each Monster one at a time inside.
Asgore and Toriel were first led in, as they tried to be at peace attending together and Toriel was making sure Asgore was careful with his words and being around the humans. They greeted Marisol respectfully as she greeted them with warm smiles. Next was Undyne who tried to be as friendly as possible though nervous, as Marisol greeted her. Upon shaking hands, Undyne felt immense strength in Marisol's grip as she gripped harder to confirm if this was true. Marisol followed through as both had crushing strength in their grips while staring down and adding more strength. Curtain watched in awe as Frisk was a bit worried, but then the two stopped the power match as they laughed and Undyne gave her a pat on the shoulder. Next Alphys came in as Marisol greeted her and told her that she heard she liked anime and pointed her to Jonathan who was an anime fan, which Alphys ran to immediately. Mettaton entered as glamourously as possible, which Marisol was surprised by. He bowed to her and gave a kiss on her hand, as Marisol smiled and bowed with her dress to him. Then the skelebros entered together, as Sans greeted Marisol first.
"hey there, Marisol, right? Curtain told me about you. nice to meet ya, i'm sans, sans the skeleton," He extended his hand towards her.
"Hello Sans, it's nice to finally meet you too, and yes I'm Marisol. I'm glad you can make it to the party. I hope you guys enjoy it," Marisol said as she used her opposite hand to shake his hand, knowing her had a whoopie cushion in his hand.
"… Curtain told you about me too, huh?" Sans asked, as Marisol laughed and nodded.
"I find you to be funny, but I won't be pranked this time. Maybe later," Marisol said with a smile.
"heh. Sure thing, Marisol. I'll to think a little harder for you since you seem to be very smart," Sans said as he returned his hand to his pocket.
"Heheh. Thank you. Enjoy," Marisol said, gesturing to the crowd as Sans nodded and stepped to the side since he was waiting for Papyrus.
"Oh Wowie! I can already tell this was such a great idea of yours, Frisk and Curtain! I can't wait to meet everyone!" Papyrus said, as Frisk nodded and brought him to Marisol.
"Hello there, sir. Very nice to meet you, I'm Marisol," Marisol said, extending a hand towards him.
"Hello there, Marisol the human! I am the Great Papyrus!" Papyrus said as he gave her his hand.
"Ah! You are the Great Papyrus I've heard about! I can see that you indeed are quite great already," Marisol said with a sweet smile.
"Why thank you, Ms. Marisol, and I can already tell that you are quite great yourself!" Papyrus said with a grin as they shook hands.
"I'm glad to have finally met you! Enjoy the party," Marisol said.
"Shall you be joining us as well, Marisol?" Papyrus asked.
"Why yes, I am. I just wanted to meet you guys first," Marisol replied.
"If I may ask, is there anyone here waiting on you, Marisol? A friend or possible interest of yours?" Papyrus asked.
"Well… not really. I came alone with Curtain and Frisk," Marisol answered.
"Then allow me to be your partner! A lovely person such as yourself should definitely have an escort to such a great party, and why not with a great person such as I?!" Papyrus said as he offered an arm to her.
"… That… That's so very nice of you, Papyrus… I accept," Marisol said, as she wrapped her arm around his while her eyes glistened towards him.
"E-Eeee! You actually… accept me?! We just met and already I'm accepted?!" Papyrus said as he sweated a bit.
"Of course I do! You're not only nice but so thoughtful and… I wouldn't ask for anyone else," Marisol said as she smiled sweetly at him while he blushed a light orange.
"Y-You flatter me, Ms. Marisol! In that case, let us join in the celebration at once!" Papyrus said, and then they headed to the others.
Curtain was surprised by how well they seemed to get along, as Sans was equally surprised.
"well, they seem to hit it off already," Sans said.
"Yeah, like… I mean I told them a lot about each other since they kind of reminded me of each other, but like… I didn't think they'd just get together on their own like that," Curtain admitted.
"…" Sans stared at Curtain for a moment as she looked towards him.
"What?" She asked.
"well, from what you told us about her, i think they'll get along just fine. my bro seems pretty happy now," Sans replied.
"Heh. Yeah, I'm not worried either," Curtain said.
"welp, ready to join them, my girl?" Sans said as he offered his arm to her.
"Don't mind if I do, my guy," Curtain said as she took his arm, and they walked together to the party.
As Frisk was about to walk, she heard someone come in and turned around. It was a boy about her age with black hair just over his white eyes and a small scar on his cheek in a little white suit and a purple flower on his pocket.
"…"
"…"
"H-Hello. Is this the party with the Monsters and Humans?" He asked.
"Yes it is. What's your name? Mine is Frisk," She replied.
"Oh! Hello Frisk. I heard about you from the others around town. I came in their stead to meet everyone. My name is Chance," He said.
"Nice to meet you, Chance. I like you name," Frisk said with a smile as she offered him her hand.
"I like yours too," Chance said with a smile and took her hand.
"Come on! Let me show you around!" Frisk said and tugged on his hand.
"Okay, thanks!" Chance said, and the two joined the others in the great celebration.
More people and Monsters came over, as even outside the Humans and Monsters began meeting each other on their own. Not one fight occurred, as even when the sun was gone from the sky laughter and fun still hung over all of them.
Underground:
Asriel was still in his regular form, surprised by how long he has lasted, but thankful to be because he was able to sense that everyone was getting along and everything was going well. He then sighed and felt something behind him, as he turned and stared into the darkness around him, as she stared back.
