Chapter 20

They fought for a while as they were destroying bits of the castle, and Sans even took a hit to prove his health was high as shown, which startled CorruptedFrisk and helped him land a hit back at her. However, she cackled as he stood before her with five blasters ready.

"I must say Sans... you are strong. So much stronger now... but, I've been planning this whole time. I wasn't just destroying and having fun as I have shown. I'm quite... meticulous, especially with my stronger and new acquired abilities. As an example, even if you were to save Frisk... that wouldn't bring her back, you know. I made sure that you can never go back," CorruptedFrisk said as she staggered on her feet.

"...what do you mean?" Sans asked, though suspiciously.

"Hehehehe Hahahahaha! Take a look, Sans! Let your hope plummet!" CorruptedFrisk said as she brought a flickering yellow light before him, and from that came a particular button.

Sans' eyesockets widened as distress and despair began to fill his empty eyes. CorruptedFrisk only widened her grin as she showed him the broken Reset button that no longer shined gold, but instead was rusted and had dark strands leaking from it.

"You can NEVER go BACK. You can NEVER SAVE her. You can't SAVE Frisk either... her soul will wither more and more until she finally dies once and for all. There IS no going back anymore... even if someone else were to take this after the child dies... I'll be a part of them too! I'll NEVER be ERASED! Now you ALL can forever live in HELL with ME! Hahahahahahhaha!"

Sans shoulders slowly slumped, as the blasters' beams lowered in their charge.

"You lost already. I just didn't say yet because I wanted you all to believe you can win, and then show you this... isn't it great, Sans? You lived with hope... and now you get to die in despair!" CorruptedFrisk lifted her arm up as a large dragon sprung up from her shadow towards him.

"Goodbye Sans," The dragon and CorruptedFrisk said in unison, and the dragon charged up her fire breath in her mouth.

Sans was caught off guard, and although he could dodge, to him, was there really a point?

His love and his friend whom everyone fought for were lost to him.

Everything they went through, every battle until this moment to finally defeat the demon was all for a hope that she planned.

Then should he have even tried at all? He worked so hard to obtain this power, even if a reset would probably take it from him, he was willing to do it in order to go back.

But for all he did, and all the work he put into it, and all the hope that he and everyone had...

Should they have just given up a long time ago?

Was there really any reason t-

"AHHH!" CorruptedFrisk hollered as a purple arrow had shot her arm.

The dragon turned quickly to see what had happened while quickly cancelling her charge, as Sans instinctively shot his five blasters at the beast, feeling a rush of power enter his being upon seeing the arrow. Screeching in pain from the strike, the dragon lost a part of her face from the concentration of the attack being solely there. She then rushed out and burst through the wall outside to try to escape from another hit. CorruptedFrisk tried to pull out the arrow but couldn't as her hand stung from the arrow itself being dangerous until it disappeared, though the wound remained towards Corruption.

"Eerr! Sans! What did... you... noo..." CorruptedFrisk said as her eyes widened when she looked up at the window.

Sans looked towards the window as his eyesockets widened and blue tears started forming on them.

"Hey Corruption. Why don't you let my friend go, huh?" Curtain said, wielding a ghostly bow and arrow that was as ghostly as herself.

"Why… why couldn't you have just died?!" CorruptedFrisk screamed, as a tear fell from one eye upon seeing her.

"And while you're at it, why don't you leave my punster alone," Curtain added as she aimed at her with another arrow.

Curtain's ghostly form was a more translucent form of herself that had a more purple glow and her hair was loose and flowing beyond gravity, while her legs were non-existent except for a ghostly tail. Her only clothing missing was her scarf, but she was proud to see that Sans still had it since she gave it to him last.

Sans couldn't help but smile at her while rubbing his eyes as his hp raised a little.

Growing frustrated and sensing Sans' hp go up, CorruptedFrisk spat back,

"Grrr… why don't you pry her from my cold, dead hands with you're own, Curtain!"

Narrowing her eyes at her comment, Curtain then shot another ghostly arrow, as CorruptedFrisk knocked it away with her dagger. A smile appeared on Curtain's lips, as CorruptedFrisk noticed this and was distracted.

"Finish her, Sans," Curtain said, looking towards her punster.

"no prob, babe," Sans said as his eye glowed and he raised his hand up.

CorruptedFrisk jumped away as a blast shot from another gaster blaster, and right when another blaster shot, her hand that was shot with the ghostly arrow froze before she could use it to defend herself.

"What?!" CorruptedFrisk yelled as she was shot directly by the blast.

"GAH! Wha-NO! You did this… you freaking ghostly pest… you reached this kid!" CorruptedFrisk realized as her arm mostly reverted back to normal Frisk.

The hand balled into a fist as it reached to her soul and started attempting to rip at the darkness of Corruption.

"Don't think because I'm hurt you can fight me ba-!" CorruptedFrisk was interrupted as Sans bopped her head with a bone.

"you really need to stop talking so much. you get so fired up over little things. I mean, it must be infuryating for you, but why don't you sit back, relax…" Sans said while Curtain held back a laugh as did CorruptedFrisk since Frisk was gaining more control.

"...and get dunked on," Sans said as he fired three blasters directly at her face.

Although eighty five percent of CorruptedFrisk was normal, Corruption was still not giving up her hold on the child as the swirling eye was fading.

"I won't give in… I won't give up… I won't let any of you win… I can't ever… let anyone go… no one can… go… no... mercy," Corruption said through the child as she stood her ground.

"you're really clingy. that's not healthy. you know, sometimes… you just got to let go. especially when you're hurting someone, you know? you don't look very good yourself… honestly. you never did, but it's just sad now… what do you say, huh corruption? let the kid go already. it'll make this a lot easier, even for you. you look like… you're really in pain there," Sans said, sparing her.

She lowered her head as her hair blocked her expression.

"you can't understand… how this feels," she muttered.

Sans waited for her next response, and his eyesockets widened as she jumped at him.

"You can never understand! Why you all must die!" She hollered.

"ENOUGH!" Curtain yelled out as she flew straight towards her passing through Frisk while pushing Corruption right off of her.

Curtain slammed Corruption at the wall with a blast of a strong wind strike after separating her from Frisk. Seeing that Corruption's hold was completely torn off of her, Frisk stepped forward as she smiled weakly, but then she fell forward as Sans caught her.

"i got ya, Frisk. i got ya," Sans said as he comforted her when her shoulders began to shake from her tears.

Curtain flew back towards them, as they looked up at her.

"Cur-Curtain!" Frisk reached out to her weakly, and Curtain knelt next to her.

"I'm here, Frisk. I'm right here," Curtain comforted as she hugged her and the child cried, feeling chilly but comforted.

As she petted Frisk's head, Curtain looked up at Sans and smiled as ghostly tears formed, while Sans knelt on one knee next to her while resting one arm around her shoulders and using his other hand to wipe her tears.

"you came back… you really came back," Sans said as his eyes glowed softly towards her.

"It was surreal… but I knew I couldn't stay away. I HAD to come back, especially after what happened and… my poor little Frisk. I could feel her pain… and yours too, Sans, especially yours," Curtain said as she caressed his cheekbone.

"… i really thought i lost ya for good. i missed you both," Sans said as he hugged both of them.

"Me too. I missed you all," Curtain said, as she held them.

"I-I'm so glad you're both here… she's coming back!" Frisk said, as they quickly turned to see Corruption staggering out of the wall that she was shoved into.

"… You would think I would be upset by all this, but in actuality, I am not. It would have been boring if you all gave up and died. Hope helps you stay strong. Hope gives me a challenge. Your hopes, your dreams, your feelings… that resolution… that determination… Hehehe. And now that it's built up so much… breaking it apart, watching your faces change to anger or fear… it'll all be worth it… for us," Corruption said with a smile.

"… us?" Curtain inferred.

"If you last, then you'll see," Corruption said as she sent flaming blades towards them.

However, bones deflected the blades away along with a kick, as Papyrus and Marisol stood guard in front of the trio.

"nice timing, bro. she was monologing all cryptic and evil again," Sans said.

"As always, brother! Now! Take care of Frisk and Curtain while we deal with our dark neme... Curtain! You're aliveish?!" Papyrus said as his eyes widened.

"C-Curtain?!" Marisol said as she turned towards her friend.

"Marisol… it's been so long," Curtain said as she teared up.

"You're actually… oh Curta, I'm so sorry," Marisol said as she teared up in guilt.

"Mari, I went on my own underground. Don't feel bad about that. I'm sorry for not coming back sooner," Curtain said, her ghostly tears falling.

"Don't apologize for that! It isn't your fault. I'm just so glad to be able to see you... I'm just so sad it has to be this way since you've already..." Marisol said as her tears fell.

"I know..." Curtain said with a soft nod.

"Oh my aching non-existent heart. This mush is too much," Corruption said as she rolled her eyes.

"Shut UP!" Marisol yelled, as she drew her long sword and slammed it down as the ground cracked, startling everyone there even Corruption from the high energy and strong aura emitted from her being.

"T-Tsk. Whatever then. Let's just get this over with!" Corruption said with annoyance as she changed her hands to red shining fire blades.

"Nyeh heh heh! Same old trick, Corruption? Well we have a few new ones!' Papyrus stated as he stood ready for battle with a bone sword.

"… Hee hee. Do you think I was going to fight you two? With these blades alone? Oh nooo, I couldn't handle the Great Papyrus and Marisol the Great! You're much too strong for me…" Corruption said, as she faked distress.

Papyrus and Marisol eyed her suspiciously.

"If not for us, then why are you armed?!" Papyrus asked.

"For this…" Corruption said as she threw the blades outward to the walls.

On impact, the walls cracked and started breaking along all the walls and the ceiling. The cracks began to glow red as they started blinking faster and faster.

"WATCH OUT!" Papyrus grabbed Marisol as he rushed over and huddled all of them together.

"Papyrus!" The girls yelled in worry, and Sans' eye glowed.

The whole top of the castle exploded, which alarmed those down below in the battlefield. A group of gaster blasters and bones encased the group, as they moved away when they realized the explosion had finished erupting. They looked around as they saw that only the ground under their feet remained, but what caught their attention was that Corruption was no longer where she was.

"Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! How easy it all is!" Corruption yelled out from above, as they all looked up in shock to see a large red dragon skull in the sky, as she stood on top of it while wearing a red crown on her head.

"You want to still fight me?! You want to still challenge me?! Well then! Let it begin! On MY new turf! Sans! Frisk! Curtain! Papyrus! Marisol! COME FACE ALL OF ME!" Corruption yelled out, and the large red dragon head opened its mouth wide, revealing a swirling mass of darkness and colors.

It began to inhale, as the five tried to stay on the ground to not be sucked up. The others below fought harder as they tried to save them, but the red bloody head became as powerful as a tornado. The five each grabbed one another to hold each other from going up: Frisk, then Curtain, then Sans, then Marisol, and then Papyrus.

"Frisk! Hold on!" Curtain said as she held onto her.

"Curtain! Let me go! She's been after me for so long and if she kills me… I deserve it after everything all of you have been through…" Frisk said.

"Frisk… I'll never let you go again!" Curtain yelled out, as Frisk's tears fell upward.

Curtain turned towards Sans, Marisol, and Papyrus.

"… I won't let you go alone, Frisk… And I won't let them suffer against her again either!" Curtain said, as she made her lower half faze through Sans' grasp.

"Curtain no!" Sans called out, as the two flew upward.

Sans also looked downward at Marisol and his brother.

"… take care of him, Marisol," Sans said as he slipped out of her grasp.

"Frisk! Curtain! SANS!" Papyrus called out in panic.

"NO! You're not leaving without me again!" Marisol screamed out.

"INDEED THEY WILL NOT!" Papyrus screamed out as he held Marisol and jumped upward.

"Eeeeeeeeeee!" -Marisol

"NYEEEEEEEH!" -Papyrus

"wooooah!" -Sans

"Waaaaaah!" -Curtain

"Aaaaaaaaah!" -Frisk

The five were sucked up into the shadowy portal as the blood dragon clamped her mouth shut.

"Finally… heheheheh… now, begone," Corruption said, as she turned around and snapped her fingers.

The blood boned dragon skull flipped upside down and opened it's mouth as it used a scream that shrouded the world in complete darkness.

I took a little longer with this one because I was writing the chapters ahead of it.
