Chapter Twenty 2
Another dream:
"..." He pulled his hood over his skull, the numbness within his soul more cold then the snow under his feet, as he looked at the piece of red fabric that remained along with a small patch of dust.
He slowly looked up hearing crutching footsteps as Curtain stood next to him and looked at the pile.
"... I'm sorry about your brother."
"..."
"Let me go-"
"no,"
Sans couldn't allow her to take on such a task, especially since the 'child' was proven merciless to someone like his brother, who didn't even attack.
"What?! But why not?! They killed him... If they could kill someone that noble when he didn't even fight..."
"... they could bring him back too."
"... wh-what?"
"i made a promise...
and i'm not going to let you face them and get caught up in this, especially since we don't know what would happen if someone like you and them interacted... if they keep going the way they're going... someone will stop them or i'll take care of them."
"… Sans... do you believe they'll stop? Or that the monsters are strong enough? Do you believe in
all of them?"
"... i can only hope so. i can only hope this... anomaly's hung
er can be satiated," Sans admitted, as Curtain's eyes narrowed when he said 'anomaly.'
Then Curtain knelt down to the red fabric and took a piece that was sliced off from it as she brought it up to her right shoulder. The fabric glowed as did her jean jacket and wove itself into the right shoulder, mirroring the left one but in a slightly different way. Sans' eyesockets widened to see this, and then Curtain looked up towards him and said,
"
In fondest memory, I'll keep a part of him with me too... So what else do you know about that… anomaly, Sans?"
"... i can see
you... alright. let's exchange information then," Sans said as he offered his hand to her in friendship.
"… Okay,"
Curtain said as she took it.
:Dream end
Curtain woke up with a gasp as she noticed she was near the base of a mountain that was blue with a few trees nearby. She looked around and then smelled the air, realizing the scent here was different then when she had fallen asleep.
"… What? Where even am I? Where… Where is Marisol? Frisk?" Curtain thought out loud as she quickly got up.
"What the heck?! Orange clouds? A blue mountain? What even is this? It can't be a dream, I was just dreaming…" Curtain twisted her fingers on her arm to pinch herself.
"Nope, not a dream. That might not be a good thing though… Where is everyone?" Curtain said as she then took to the skies to check.
Curtain grew tense as she felt like she was being watched by a cold glare, though it seemed like it came from the top of the mountain she was near. So she dived down and quickly traveled through the tree tops, until she heard a sound as she followed it and found a tall skeleton sitting on the ground while rubbing the back of his head.
"Papyrus? You're here too?" Curtain asked as she jumped down in front of him.
"Curtain! It's so nice to see you! I… don't suppose by what you asked me that you know where we are? I know you and Frisk and Marisol were at Toriel's home for a girls' night hangout while my brother and I and Chance were also having one too! But a boy version!" Papyrus asked, as he took Curtain's hand to stand up.
"I don't, but… this doesn't feel right. And it seems like we were separated from the others," Curtain replied.
"Indeed it does! But at least me and you found each other! Now we just have to find our friends… and our significant others!" Papyrus said with a small orange blush as he thought of Marisol.
"Yeah. Let's go find them then!" Curtain said, while just a tint of purple filled her cheeks as she thought of Sans.
And Another Dream:
"..." Curtain stood behind Sans as he was about to get ready to challenge the 'child,' especially after they killed Undyne and where off in the Core to take care of everyone else.
"... came to see me off?" Sans asked, as he looked at her and noticed a black piece of armor on the bottom left of her jean jacket and a white piece on the right side, though he didn't see the one burgendy piece on the lower back.
"Let me come with you," Curtain asked but seemed more to beg as she gripped the two bottom patches of her jacket.
"no."
"Darn it Sans! Stop trying to do things on your own! Let me help you!"
"Curtain, please, just... stay alive. if i can't stop them here, then... just go."
"Sans... please. I don't want anyone else to die... my people up there... i can feel it, when she…" Curtain gripped the armored piece of her jacket.
"… when this happened it felt like the world began to fall apart. Like everyone, even up there, began to fall and disappear…" Curtain watched him as he took his hood off and turned around.
"Please Sans… if I stay then… don't die," Curtain almost whispered although he could hear her clearly.
"... i hate making promises... but for you, i'll try," Sans said as he looked towards her with a soft smile to ease the pain in her eyes.
"..."
"bye, Curtain."
"... bye, Sans."
:Dream end
"Eep!" Marisol jolted awake as she sat up and looked around.
"Huh? What… What even… what is this place? Huh?! Curtain? Frisk? Toriel? Is anyone there?!" Marisol called out.
"No… it's just me actually. But I do want to talk to you," a voice that sounded like her own said as she emerged from the forest.
Marisol's jaw dropped to see the other Marisol, who wore armor and carried a sword on her side and back.
"Who… Are you me?!" Marisol asked, and the other Marisol smiled a little and offered her hand to her.
"Yes… let's take a moment to talk. I'd like to see if you can help me figure out what is happening here and I'll do my best to help you too," The other Marisol said.
"… Okay, me! Let's figure this out… because I'm extremely confused, surprised, and downright astonished," Marisol said as she took her hand and stood up.
"Right back at ya," other Marisol said with a small giggle.
And Now Another Dream:
"..."
She lifted up the blue piece of clothing cut off from his clothes when the second blade attack finally landed on it's mark. Clutching it in her fist, she brought it up to her jacket as it blended and weaved into the fabric at the front, mirroring the piece on the back that was now pink.
"... I won't let this be in vain..."
She said as she stood up and walked ahead to find another article of clothing that was a torn piece of robe.
It was larger then the other pieces so she placed it across the back of her shoulders as it weaved a bit and blew along with her scarf while she continued forward.
:Dream end
Sans opened his eyes as he felt a sense of familiarity with his surroundings, though no recollection to back up the feeling. He sat up and noticed he was on a tree laying on a branch as he stretched and then got up. From the grey tree he was in, he could see out from a clearing in the bunches of leaves and noticed a blue mountain in the distance and a small field of grass below. Sans teleported down to the ground near the tree and saw two stumps near the base, as he noticed etching on them while tilting his head to the side.
"… i must have slept too long, i guess… but this… doesn't seem like a dream. maybe a nightmare…" Sans thought outloud as he walked behind the grey tree and then appeared with the other trees ahead of himself.
"heh… I should probably stop leafing around and maybe i wouldn't wake up like this," Sans said as he walked by another grey tree and stopped when he heard a small laugh.
"… heh. You should probably branch out in your hobbies then," the voice in the tree said, as Sans chuckled.
"hehehe. i don't know if i'm barking up the wrong tree for advice, or if I should continue logging around," Sans said with a wink as the tree rustled with laughter.
"beleaf me, i know what I'm talking about. i have more then just bark to my bite. and I even have a truck card too," the voice said as they both laughed.
Sans took a moment to settle down from laughing, and then he looked up and said, "alright. come on down, me."
"alright, pal. just… don't be too shocked. i'll explain it all to ya in a bit," the Other Sans in the tree said, and then teleported down in front of Sans.
The first thing Sans noticed was the purple scarf and he already felt a pang in his chest.
A good day for editing apparently. I got two up at one time. I'm trying to keep at that.
Hopefully the layout is okay.
