Chapter Thirty 4
Clair walked along the tranquil path through as she took in the peaceful quietness of the forest as even the natural ambiance was calm.
She stopped walking when she noticed someone walking towards her from a clearing in the forest. At first, she didn't know this person, but when he saw her, the recognition in his eyes made her realize she must know him from somewhere.
"… You… You're back," The man said, as his hands trembled a bit.
Upon hearing his voice, her hearbeat spiked as she held her hand over her heart. It felt as if a piece of her heart that had died began to beat again.
"Who... are you? You cannot be… my beloved...?" She asked, hesitant in her steps towards him with each question.
He chuckled softly in a ghoulish echo,
"… My dearest Clair. Your beauty still compels me to hesitant when addressing you."
Her eyes widened a little and then soften as her tears began to roll slowly to not disturb such a reunion.
"My love... how is this possible? You had died..." Clair said as she approached him and laid her warm hands upon his more colder cheekbones.
"Yes. I had died as you say, and within your arms... but I did not remain that way. Something happened to my body where I was laid to rest, and I rose again. Possibly due to my resting place being the same place where the Monsters were sealed, and there being where the Mages had used their powers... I was sort of… reborn," His expression saddened, as he laid his more boney hands with empty holes through the center palms upon her hands.
"And yet my death that separated me from you was not all that I had suffered... being torn apart through the fabric of space and time itself... being only a distant memory no one has truly been able to reach... but, when the timelines had converged suddenly... I felt parts of myself overlap and my form become more tangible… and I sensed the presence of some being of light as well. I could really feel, and exist once more. Though I'm still tattered, I'm enough back together to be here again, and with my dear Clair... I missed you."
"Oh my darling, I've missed you so much... my heart just tore and tore everyday. It just grew worse without you, and after my mother had passed I… I was alone… I shouldn't have been, but I couldn't face anyone or anything… Oh what a calamity! Caused by such a horrible heartache that consumed my very life in it's chains and darkened abyss..." Clair sniffled.
"Calm yourself, my dear. I know of all that has occurred. I've seen it," He spoke kindly and caressed her cheek.
Clair lowered her gaze as she tried to move away from him in shame, but his hand stood firm as he held her other hand entwined by the fingers. She gently tried to pull away, but she stopped when she saw deep in his dark eyesockets with glowing pupils that he was not going to ever let her go. Her tears came down more.
"Forgive me... we haven't been together in so long. I just... feel so ashamed," Clair said as she moved a little closer to him.
"There there. You were not yourself, and I can say nor have I been… Let us never be apart again, my love," He said as he embraced her comfortingly.
"Never again, my darling," Clair said as she softly smiled in his arms, while silent tears fell from his eyesockets.
"Is there anyway you can come back with me when I go to see them later?" Clair asked.
"I am still recuperating. I'd rather they all met me in a more stable state. Though I will go with you to see them at least once," He said.
"Alright. And then I will ask to live at the chapel so that we can be close. I assume this place is much easier for you to roam in?" Clair asked, and he gave her a nod when they separated enough to look at each other.
"This would be a good opportuniy for me to see the two brothers. I haven't seen my boys in so long. I just hope they haven't forgotten me," He said.
"Brothers? Papyrus and Sans?" Clair clarified and he nodded.
"I made them with my own hands. I hope they remember me, or at the very least remember when I see them," He said.
"Then let us find out. Join me. I shall offer a portion of my strength to stabilize you better for travel to see them," Clair said with a smile, and he nodded with a smile towards her.
The reunited lovers walked slowly through the forest with hands held together as they headed to the town.
Outside the closed school:
"... Frisk?" Asriel whispered as he gently tugged her shirt from the back, and she turned towards him.
"What's the matter, Asriel? You're finally free from becoming a flower, right? You can come home now," Frisk said with a smile.
"Frisk... do you... think Mom and Dad... would want to see me after all that happened? They... they've gone through so much, and... surely they've gotten over me-" Asriel stopped speaking when Frisk turned towards him with her hands gripping his shoulders and staring into his eyes with pure resolution.
"A parent never forgets their child they loved with all of their heart. Asriel... go to them. Don't be afraid to live again... and tell them to too. Come on, I'll be with you," Frisk said.
Asriel couldn't help but tear up and hug her, as Frisk hugged him.
"If you two need a lift, I can provide," Curtain said as she changed into her full Aecan form.
"i never get tired of that," Sans complimented as Curtain hushed him while concealing her blush.
She took the children with Frisk on her back and Asriel in her arms, and Curtain flew ahead to first visit Toriel. Upon reaching close and decending as they noticed she, Asgore, and Gerson were there, the three turned towards them in relief and then surprise. Curtain placed Asriel down as Frisk jumped off her back, and then Frisk and Asriel walked along to greet them. Frisk stood back and allowed Asriel to approach his parents slowly as he said howdy to them.
Their expressions were shocked and if their fur wasn't already white they would look very pale, as Gerson was surprised but also realized that the King and Queen were completely frozen. He approached Asriel first and greeted him as the prince while also welcoming him back, which broke his parents from their shock as their tears from the hole in their hearts came pouring out from their eyes. They ran forth and embraced their son together, as he too began to cry and through their tears and sniffling breaths were able to communicate the events of their lives to this point.
Frisk and Curtain watched for a little longer, and then flew off to pick up Marisol and bring her to their friends to know that they were safe, while Papyrus and Sans spent time with Chance since their hang out time was cut short and to gather their friends together.
Marisol was able to visit and reassure her parents she was safe, and then visited their friends who were about to split into groups to form search parties when the skelbros and Chance stopped them before the girls arrived shortly after. They all were happy to greet each other, and then they went to a more secluded location near a field to discuss in more detail what happened in the other world. Most of the human ones felt a peace deep in their souls from hearing of Clair Voyant.
"So everyone is okay, and she is alive and back to normal right?" Karol asked, and the three girls nodded.
"Oh darlings that is fantastic news! Can't we just tell everyone about it though?" Mettaton asked.
"I think this was more personal business, Mettaton. And surely you'd have to ask Clair Voyant about that," Joseph said.
"Oh dear, you're right. Well! Good thing she happens to be coming here later then," Mettaton said.
"Poor lady went through a lot. Why not ask her another day? I'm sure she's still a bit sad since she's alone here in this world now. No friends of her's alive to talk to…" Karol said, as Mettaton felt a little bad about wanting to ask Clair his question.
"We'll be her friends, so that she never has to be alone again," Frisk said.
"I agree to that, considering what happened and all. And although I don't think she'd ever become that evil corruption she was again, it'd still be pretty sucky to be all alone," Kelvin said.
"So we're all in agreement. We'll take care of Clair and welcome her. Heh. You're all such good kids. It's so cute how kind all of you are," Caroline said with a snicker, as some of them grew bashful.
"W-We just want to look out for a friend. Especially since we trust in our friends here," Nathan said.
"Y-Yes, that's right. If you guys f-feel it's okay for her to come, then I'm with you guys too," Alphys said with a nod.
"Yeah! That's the spirit! We don't let anyone fall behind! Not even our enemies! I know I learned that from Frisk, and I'm grateful for it, or else I wouldn't have such a good friend as them!" Undyne said, and the others agreed.
"Right! And now that we are all together, Chance, Sans, and I can continue our splendid boys hangout!" Papyrus said.
"Woah! You had a boys' night? Why wasn't I invited?" Kelvin asked.
"I wouldn't mind coming to watch over him," Corvin said pointing to him, as Kelvin made a face at his brother.
"That sounds like fun, but l-let's not intrude on them, g-guys," Nathan said.
"Nonsense! It wouldn't be an intrusion! We kind of thought of this in the last minute anyway since the girls had decided to spend time together at Toriel's home anyhow!" Papyrus said, as Chance and Sans nodded.
"Oh! That's so cool! Can I come with you girls too?" Karol asked.
"And how about me?" Undyne asked.
"I'd like to c-come too. I have some anime we can watch together, or s-some manga I found!" Alphys asked.
"Sure thing. We would just need to ask Toriel," Curtain replied as Marisol and Frisk agreed.
"Could always come to one of my places if any of you need more rooms. I don't usually stay in two houses at once so the boys can use one and me and the girls in the other since I'm back in town for a while," Caroline suggested and the girls and guys nodded.
As everyone spoke, Sans and Curtain couldn't help but be drawn to standing next to each other. Their hands met as they exchanged smiles, and Curtain gave a kiss to his cheekbone as Sans couldn't help but blush a bluish hue. Curtain then noticed a figure walking towards them a sort of long distance away. She recognized them as Clair, but not who the other person she was with. Sans followed her gaze and turned to see them, fixing his eyes on the man with Clair. He slowly walked closer in suspicion and familiarity, as Papyrus happened to look towards Sans and then turned to who he was looking at. He was about to speak, but then he stopped when he noticed the man. Both skeleton brothers could feel the sense of famiiarity growing inside of them towards the man as they started walking ahead to meet them, while everyone else followed along behind them.
"… Could that be… someone we know, brother?" Papyrus asked.
"… maybe… they seem really familiar… as if they are someone like really close to us," Sans replied.
"Liiike maybe… a friend…? Or maybe… family, perhaps?"
"like someone we should know… someone we…"
"Should never…"
"forget…"
The brothers felt distant memories that were fogged up softly appear, and although still a bit cloudy, could see some of them. They then hurried along ahead to meet the man, as he smiled to see both of them approaching him. At first, before being seen, he felt a small sense of reluctance to go on, but was reassured by his love that she would be besides him to support him. A sense of relief came over him that he hadn't felt in a long time, as he finally greeted the skeleton brothers after so long.
When all was said and done, and everyone was completely and utterly content and more, they were all able to go to their houses as most went on their sleepovers after the quick wedding ceremony that Captain Caroline held for the reunited lovers. Tuckered out from all that had occurred, everyone was able to enjoy a good nights rest in harmony and peace, ready and eager for the future waiting for them.
The end.
Woo! Finally the origin story is complete!
I hope I was able to put everything in there and present it well.
Thank you guys so much for reading and I had fun being able to finally write out the story and complete it. I didn't have time to make the comic I originally wanted to for this story but I'm glad it is finally written and done. I'm going to start updating my other stories like Multiverse Exchange, and continuing the stories in progress like Multiverse Exchange 2 which is actually titled Cryptic Heart.
