Skye was in Tony's lab working on a suit with Tony. Since Wakanda Skye had grown a lot of interest in suit building and Tony had seen that so when one of his suits needed repairs he had invited Skye to help him with it. He would usually ask Peter for his help but he had been pretty busy this summer.

Tony explained to Skye what he was doing and let her do some of the work with him carefully observing.

"You didn't seem to be interested in any of this until Wakanda," Tony said.

"I don't know. I mean yeah working on my own suit from start to finish was pretty epic. And the suit is epic but I mean I have always kinda love science. Just experiences with people made me think maybe I shouldn't be," Skye said.

"What do you mean? Who?" Tony asked.

"Some guys I was in school with in the past. And foster brothers. Told me science isn't a girl thing. I took it to heart for too long," Skye admitted.

Tony shook his head. "Those boys were idiots. Some of the brightest scientists of all time were or are women."

"Yeah I know," Skye said. "Marie Curie, Rosalind Franklin," Skye said naming a couple.

Tony named several others while they continued to work.

Skye smiled and nodded.

"So, don't let those stupid boys let you think you can't be interested in science," Tony said.

"I won't," Skye said.

"And I have to ask. Tucker isn't one of those idiots is he?" Tony asked.

"No," Skye said. "He probably would have kicked the asses of those boys if he had heard them say that. Tucker's mother was a forensic scientist."

"Really? I'm glad he knows better," Tony said.

Skye smiled, "he is a good guy."

"I know," Tony said. "You ever tell him about how you felt about science?"

"Somewhat. He knows I like it to a degree. Never told him about the idiot boys. He would have been annoyed with me for letting it get to me," Skye said.

"How is he enjoying his summer program?" Tony asked

"He loves it. He tells me every time we talk how he is so glad this worked out and that he is getting this experience. And he tells me that the professors love him," Skye said.

"Good," Tony said. "If he ever needs more experience let him know I can help with that too."

Skye smiled. "I will. Thank you."

"Of course," Tony said.

"Can I ask why you are so willing to help him? I know it can't all be just because of me," Skye said

"Well, you are a big part of the reason Skye," Tony said.

"But not the whole reason," Skye said.

"No," Tony said.

Skye looked at him expectantly.

"Pay attention to what you are doing," Tony said.

Skye looked back at what she was doing.

"This is not something I talk about with a lot of people so I expect you not to share it with anyone," Tony said.

"Okay," Skye said.

"My childhood wasn't great either. Financially I didn't have to worry about anything. But as for everything else I was pretty much on my own and my father was not good to me. I was lucky that I was smart and knew what I wanted to do very early on. If I didn't have the financial help I wouldn't have gotten where I am. Now I don't know the details of Tucker's upbringing but I know his family hasn't been very good to him. And I know the foster care system lets a lot of kids fall through the cracks. I was willing to put in the good word because he didn't have anyone else to do that. And I am willing to help with get experience so that he can get where he wants in life too," Tony said.

"I'm sorry your father wasn't good to you," Skye said.

"Thank you," Tony said as the two continued what they were doing. "And I know you have your dad for the support but I'm also here if you need anything."

"I know. Thank you, Uncle Tony," Skye said as Tony's phone went off with a text.

Tony checked it and sighed. "Sorry Kid. Have to take care of something."

"That's okay. Is it okay if I hang around the lab?" Skye asked.

"Of course. Just don't do anything stupid. And make sure the door is properly closed and locked when you leave the room," Tony said. He wrote down the code to the room. "You are free to use the room whenever you want."

Skye smiled. "Noted. And thank you," she took the sticky note and put it in the back of her phone case.

Tony left the room and Skye kept working on what Tony had shown her.
