Jaune woke up slowly the next morning, as he took in his surroundings he noticed he was in his teams dorm room. Looking at the beds lined up along the wall to his he noticed he was the first to wake out of his team. This was not an uncommon occurrence, his teammates valued sleep greatly and he was used to competing with seven sisters for the bathroom, that was enough said in his opinion.
As he quietly got out of bed and started to make it silently with practiced ease he had to really think of his dreams last night were real or not. Finally he shook his head with a small smile, a woman giving him lottery tickets each day? A one eyed ninja beating him around for six months with plenty of workouts and actual training in hand to hand combat, evasion, deception, chakra, and jutsu? Please that had to be a dream...right?
Just as Jaune finished that thought he accidentally knocked over his pillow. Jaune was about to pick it up when something caught his eye. It was a book, a small orange book...a book given to him by Kakashi-sensei...fuck.
Jaune quickly snatched up the book and as quietly as possible, which was far quieter than usual, made his way into the bathroom. A strange feature about the dorm bathrooms of Beacon was that they had two mirrors. One was a small mirror that would hang over the sink like most normal bathrooms while the second was a larger, slim full body mirror that was built into the wall.
The second was were Jaune was now standing shirtless actually being able to admire his new body. Gone was the lanky, noodley boy that barely passed initiation. In his place stood a young man with well defined muscles and a six pack that could grate cheese if he tried hard enough.
Jaune smiled but soon that gave way to a conflicted expression as he thought over what this meant. The book, the changes to his body, he hadn't been dreaming last night. All of what he experienced had really happened and here it was before him, the physical results of only six months training from Kakashi-sensei. This was major, for the first time since starting Beacon Jaune now felt like he could actually catch up to his friends and classmates.
A thought soon came to mind, if Jaune gained benefits from his physical training then maybe...
He closed his eyes and placed his hands in the now familiar ram hand sign. With only a little focus Jaune could feel the familiar warmth chakra brought as it began to encompass him. The sensation continued to build until, when he opened his eyes, he could see the pulsating blue outline of his built up chakra.
Jaune smiled as he let his chakra dissipate. "I think I'm actually looking foreword to combat class today."
The door to the bathroom was suddenly ripped off it's hinges as Pyrrha, pajama clad, stood at the door with Milo in hand.
"Jaune, what happened!?" She asked clearly worried and in panic.
Jaune looked around the bathroom noticing how items had fallen to the floor and some cracks had formed around him. Jaune looked back to his partner and sheepishly scratched the back of his head. He quickly answered with the first thing that came to mind "I unlocked my semblance."
Pyrrha who had calmed down and was staring at her partner's shirtless form with mouth slightly open answered. "Wha?"
Konoha, Narutoverse
Tsunade Senju, fifth Hokage, one of the three legendary sanin, greatest medical ninja to ever live, and glorified babysitter to an entire village of eccentric loons. At least, that's how she felt listening to one of her jonin, ah excuse her, one of her ELITE jonin, whom claimed to have been whisked away to a parallel dimension in his sleep and trained a teenage boy from another world in the shinobi arts.
"Is this really necessary lady Tsunade?"
She looked up from rubbing her already aching head to see Kakashi restrained with multiple seals on his person and several ANBU surrounding him.
"You have made a claim that, quite frankly, had it come from anyone else would have immediately landed them in a padded cell Kakashi. Yes, this is completely necessary until Inoichi is here to fact check your report." She stated rhetorically.
There was a knock at the door and speak of the devil it was Inoichi.
"You summoned me lady Hokage?" He asked respectfully.
Tsunade nodded. "Yes, Kakashi has made, quite frankly, an insane report. I would like you to enter his mind and evaluate the veracity of his claims."
Tsunade then once again went through the arduous process of giving Inoichi the entire six months worth of report that Kakashi had given her. By the end Inoichi was giving the same unbelievable expression that Tsunade, and most likely the masked ANBU as well, were giving him.
Inoichi looked over the written section of the report once again before he addressed Kakashi. "Kakashi I'm aware that there have been many difficult situations throughout your career. The loss of your teammates, the loss of your sensei, and most recently the defection of one of your students. Then there's not to mention that Naruto and Sakura have both chosen to further their training with two sanin respectively."
Kakashi gave a slight eye smile. "Is there a point Inoichi, because while yes I do harbor some regrets about how I chose to train my students I know this was not a hallucination."
Inoichi gave a small nod, at least Kakashi acknowledged he had made some mistakes with his team. "My point Kakashi is that it's very understandable to perceive a dream where you trained a blue-eyed blonde haired young man without holding much back. However if you believe that this was in fact real then I will go into your mind to verify your account."
"Yes, I am quite sure that this was a real event that occurred." Kakashi answered.
Tsunade sighed in exasperation as Inoichi performed his clans Psycho Mind Transmission jutsu. It wasn't that she didn't trust Kakashi's judgement, but there were already so many unknowns to not play it safe. The entire account could have been an elaborate sleep based jutsu to try and weed information from him. On the other hand a small traitorous part of her wanted to say he suffered from a mental breakdown, and she really couldn't blame him. The circumstances were like those of her own genin team only to a worse degree, and kami knows she had spent far too many years living on past wounds.
Everyone in her office waited in silence that stretched on for at least another forty or so minutes. It was nearing the one hour mark when Inoichi opened his eyes and stepped away from Kakashi with a light sweat on his brow. That in and of itself was a testament to the length of time he had to review, for an experienced Yamanaka clan member days of memories could be viewed within minutes. The fact it had taken nearly an hour was a testament to the validity of Kakashi's report.
Inoichi looked to Tsunade with pure surprise written across his face as he spoke. "Lady Tsunade...It was all true, Kakashi's report is one hundred percent accurate."
Tsunade cast aside her surprised expression and turned serious instantly. "Is it possible this could have been a form of genjutsu or something similar to your clans techniques?"
The man's face now matched his leaders. "Absolutely not, there were no residual traces of chakra or even mental manipulation. I also went through the entire six month period, at least from Kakashi's point of view, and can say for certain that his consciousness was moved to what appeared to be a separate dimension entirely."
Tsunade raised an eyebrow as she folded her hands under her chin. "Is that even possible?"
"It would seem so, the best I can describe it is a spiritual reverse summoning where his mind was called to that dimension and an exact replica of his body was formed." Inoichi explained.
"Ummm" the two looked towards Kakashi who was still sat on the floor restrained. "Can I be released now, please?" Kakashi asked.
Tsunade nodded to the ANBU who promptly released his restraints. "Now Kakashi, I want to know exactly what you taught this Jaune Arc and what occurred during those six months, no exceptions."
With Jaune
It was now lunch at Beacon academy and team JNPR was sitting at their usual lunch table with team RWBY. Jaune sighed contently as he ate his dinosaur chicken nuggets, his morning after Pyrrha had broken into the bathroom was hectic to say the least.
First he had to explain how he inadvertently unlocked his "semblance" to his team, which he wasn't really comfortable with seeing as he was basically lying to his friends. Well not lying per say, but he was definitely stretching the truth. He had explained that it was the result of a really intense dream, and that his "semblance" allowed him to convert his aura into a second energy source. That second source then allowed him to perform a plethora of feats if it was similar to his dream.
That had led to Nora quickly trying to field names for his new found "semblance". It was when he suggested chakra that Ren had raised an eyebrow at him curious to know how his leader knew the term. Jaune had then quickly explained how his uncle, Kakashi, had taught him martial arts before he came to Beacon and mentioned the term.
That led him to the second question from Nora which was obviously if he knew martial arts why did he, in her words, suck so much at fighting. That had caused Jaune to clam up really quickly. During his training with Kakashi the one eyed ninja had shared and asked more than Jaune had originally been comfortable with, but six months with someone forces you to either open up or break down.
Just as he had told Kakashi, he told his team that he grew up on stories of his ancestors doing great deeds of heroism. From the Great War to the Faunus Revolution he heard all manner of stories that inspired him to be a hero. As such he had taken his family's sword and some armor he had scrounged together and set out for Beacon. It was only after his dream, training with Kakashi, that he realized he didn't need to be a knight in shining armor to be a hero. He decided would be sending Crocea Mors back home when he procured a different weapon.
He shuffled his shoulders a bit still a little sore from the bear hug Nora had given him. Ren and Pyrrha had also thrown in their agreement with helping Jaune should he need it and their support regardless of his decision. It had made Jaune extremely happy that he had such supportive friends.
From there the day had flown by through Grimm studies, a class Jaune actually liked considering professor Port hid little details in his ramblings. They had then had history with doctor Oobleck where Jaune was actually able to keep up for once to the shock of his friends. Finally, and most recently, they had dust studies with professor Peach. That was actually Jaune's favorite class and one he had started taking far more diligent notes in, especially considering his new perspective on its usefulness.
That brought him to now, JNPR was seated across the table from RWBY in the cafeteria. Their sister team had asked about the minor tremors that had been felt earlier in the morning, but Jaune had simply stated Nora had smashed her alarm clock. His team quickly agreed as they had already discussed wanting to keep his semblance a secret for now.
"Oww!! please stop!!"
Jaune was brought out of his inner reflections upon hearing a feminine voice cry out in pain. His friends noticed as well and turned to see the commotion. Jaune scowled as he saw the school bullies, team CRDL, pulling on the ears of a rabbit Faunus. The collective teams scowled yet none moved.
"Atrocious, I can't stand people like him." Pyrrha stated.
"He's not the only one." Blake muttered while her bow twitched.
"It must be hard to be a Faunus." Yang stated obviously unhappy.
Jaune shook his head before speaking. "Only if humans make them think they're alone." He stated causing the table to blink. None more so than Blake who eyed Jaune critically.
"We should break his legs." Nora muttered angrily.
Jaune shook his head in affirmation and stood up catching the attention of his friends.
"That's not a bad idea."
He started to move for Cardin and his cronies when Pyrrha stopped him grabbing onto his arm.
"Jaune what are you doing? You shouldn't intervene you'll only make Cardin target you more." She stated in worry.
Her grip however slacked when Jaune looked at her not with a look of understanding, but disappointment. He firmly removed her arm before he made his way over to team CRDL and the rabbit faunus.
"Ha! I told you this things ears were real!" Cardin stated with a smirk.
"Man what a freak." Russel replied while laughing.
Cardin was about to give the girls ears another yank when Jaune grabbed his wrist. Seeing who had interrupted his fun Cardin smirked.
"What is it Arc come to trip over your shield again?" He asked while barking in laughter that was soon joined by his teammates.
Jaune payed him no mind as he wrenched his hand away from the girls ears and pulled her to the side away from Cardin. He looked to the girl who was surprised by the action. "Are you okay?"
She nodded with tears still stinging at her eyes, but He could tell she was in pain. He looked to her ears and saw there was some light swelling and cringed slightly. He had read that Faunus features such as ears and tails could be incredibly sensitive.
However, before he could say or do anything, Cardin had forcefully turned him around.
"Hey I was talking to you Arc, what you some kind of animal lover now?" He sneered.
Jaune just looked at Cardin flatly. Before his training he had actually been the victim of more than a few of Cardin's "pranks" and had honestly come to have a slight fear of the guy. Now though...now he just pitied him.
"Man you really are that pathetic aren't you?"
The cafeteria went silent, so much so that you could hear a leaky faucet in the kitchen. Everyone stared at Jaune in a mix of morbid fascination, the literal worst of Beacons first year class had just insulted his years worst bully.
Cardin grit his teeth as he squared up to Jaune getting only a hairs width away from him. "What was that Arc, I think I misheard you?"
"Really?" Jaune raised an unimpressed eyebrow. "So you can't hear anything anymore, guess that mace is compensation for more that just your lack of *ahem* manliness." That caused a few of the onlookers to snicker.
Cardin snarled "Arc you bet-"
"I mean if you had even a pea sized brain you'd look around and notice literally everyone thinks this is just pathetic." Jaune continued on undeterred.
While Cardin was getting angrier the "RDL" of team CRDL looked around now finally noticing they were being watched by literally the entire cafeteria, and none were smiling at them. They turned back just as Jaune continued speaking.
"I mean who's in here right now?" Jaune asked rhetorically. "Not just first years or second years, but third and even fourth year teams. What do you think will happen when they leave Beacon? They'll be sent on missions by the association, Ozpin, and probably a few council missions."
"You got a point Arc?"
Jaune smirked, it was not a look his friends were used to and for some, mainly Ren and Pyrrha, it was unnerving.
"When they're gone they'll be asked about Beacon. They'll be asked about the up and coming teams by their employers and literally anyone with a remote interest in huntsman life. So what do you think will happen when they say 'Oh most are pretty okay, but you might wanna watch out for team CRDL. They're just as likely to bully you as help.'"
There was once again absolute silence, the later year students were hiding smirks. It was indeed common for some teams to be made or broken by the rumors stared by graduating teams and none of them were very inclined to put in a good word for CRDL. Some faunus upperclassman were even elevating their opinion of the blonde first year.
Cardin was frowning as he took a step towards Jaune threateningly. "Arc-"
"Oh lose the tough guy act Cardin, we both know you're a coward. Because of that we know you won't try anything against me now, because the moment you do...well look around real hard." Jaune stated while widening his stance a bit.
Cardin was not as stupid as most would think and did as Arc had said. Looking around he noticed teams (J)NPR and RWBY were already slightly off their seats, the older teams were on the edge of their seats, and even the rabbit girl was tensed up.
"But don't worry about them Cardin." Jaune stated with a smile as he patted Cardin's shoulder before taking the rabbit faunus hand. "We'll settle this in combat class."
With that last remark Jaune turned away bringing the girl he had helped with him. Cardin scoffed before leaving the cafeteria taking his team with him.
Seeing that team CRDL had left and the other occupants were returning to their own business the girl looked to Jaune.
"Umm, thank you for your help." She Stated shyly.
Jaune gave her a winning smile as he spoke. "Don't mention it, I'm Jaune Arc by the way."
She giggled a bit. "Velvet, Velvet Scarlatina, I'm a second year here."
Jaune looked slightly confused. "If you're a second year why were you eating alone?"
"I took so many electives last year and did so well in my classes that I ended up ahead of my team in some of them. So my schedule ended up with me eating lunch without them." She explained.
"Oh, well if you want you could come eat with my friends and I." He offered.
"I'd like that." Velvet replied without missing a beat.
Jaune led Velvet back to the table he was sharing with his friends and was met by a several satisfied grins.
"Fearless leader. That. Was. Awesome!" Nora shouted excitedly. "Your were a total boss the way you told off Cardin!"
Yang had a smirk as she spoke. "Gotta say I didn't know you had that kinda backbone vomit boy."
Jaune groaned causing Velvet to giggle and the others to look between the two waiting for Jaune to introduce her. Seeing their looks Jaune coughed into his hand while rubbing the back of his head.
"Oh right, guys this is Velvet Scarlatina. I offered to let her eat with us, is that cool with you guys?"
Ruby was the first to agree smiling brightly at the new girl. "Absolutely, hi I'm Ruby!"
The others followed suit and introduced themselves, soon after everyone was now sitting down once again. This time however on team JNPR side Jaune and Pyrrha had traded places so Velvet could sit to his left.
"Soooo vomit boy, think you can actually back up that smack talk earlier?" Yang asked getting everyone's attention.
"I must agree, while the verbal lashing you gave Winchester was adequate your record in combat class is rather...lacking." Weiss added.
"Well considering I'm not going to use my armor or Crocea Mors I should be fine." Jaune stated with a shrug.
There was silence from the table for a few moments before Weiss facepalmed. "I knew this dolt would get himself killed."
Ruby poked her fingers together meekly. "No offense Jaune, but your not really good with your weapon soooo..."
Jaune rolled his eyes in a good natured manner while speaking sarcastically. "Jeez crater face you and ice princess have no faith. Besides I suck because I wasn't trained how to use a sword and shield."
Blake quirked an eyebrow. "So you've been using weapons you were never taught to use? That doesn't make much sense."
"Well I was taught by my uncle how to use knives and martial arts. Crocea Mors is a family heirloom and it's tradition that each son uses it." Jaune stated with a shrug.
Weiss eyes narrowed slightly at his explanation, "If you didn't train with a sword how did you enter Beacon, no self respecting combat school would have sent you here without proper weapons training."
Now the old Jaune would have panicked at that assessment, however the new Jaune had a reply on his tounge before his heart could panic. "I didn't go to a combat school, I was apprenticed to my uncle who taught me. However our family has a lot of old traditions, especially for the sons since they seem to be pretty rare in our family. So that's why even though I had good training I arrived more than just a little unprepared."
"Oh that makes sense." Velvet stated causing everyone to turn to her, she blushed a little in embarrassment before she continued on. "A lot of old huntsman families have traditions dictating how and when their children should be trained. For instance there used to be a family in Mistral that trained martial artists and until you attained a black belt you were forbidden from forming relationships outside the family."
Jaune silently thanked Velvet as Weiss seemed satisfied with that explanation and returned to eating.
Ozpin's office
Ozpin sat behind his desk scroll laid out in front of him as he was in deep thought. You see he had just been watching the events that had transpired in the cafeteria and was growing somewhat concerned.
Those concerns revolved around one Jaune Arc, now Ozpin knew he faked his transcripts. Yes he knew, he had been around for centuries and had picked up more skills and knowledge than any other on remnant could boast. Yet, here he was watching a young man whom he knew had no training period change drastically overnight.
Having watched the young man since approving his transcripts Ozpin was well aware of the boys mannerisms and habits. Jaune Arc was a happy, kind, and compassionate young man...with that said he was also unskilled, lacking confidence, and obviously had some self esteem issues. At least that was the young man he had observed yesterday, today however Mr. Arc had stood up to his bully and given his ever so slight mannerisms held the confidence of a much more skilled warrior.
"He's just going to get himself hurt again."
Ah yes, Ozpin had forgotten Glynda was watching the interaction as well.
"I think Mr. Arc will surprise us Glynda."
The woman gave her boss an incredulous look. "Ozpin, Jaune Arc has not improved an ounce since his enrollment here. He's academically sound in most classes however his combat scores are beyond subpar."
"Ah yes and what has his combat instructor done to rectify that?"
Ozpins remark was met with a scathing glare that was smiled off.
"I have given Mr. Arc adequate advice just as I have all of my students."
Ozpin raised an eyebrow "I wasn't aware 'we wouldn't want you to be gobbled up by a beowolf' was now considered proper instruction."
Glynda sighed as she removed her glasses and rubbed the bridge of her nose. "Ozpin...that boy shouldn't be here."
Ozpin gave Glynda a disapproving look before he sighed. "I image that's all that boy has heard his entire life...perhaps if he actually had some support he could rival myself or his grandmother by the time he graduates."
Glynda made to speak but was stopped cold by the look Ozpin gave her. "You may be a professor here and a professional huntsman Glynda, however you still have much to learn. Pair Mr. Arc against Mr. Winchester in combat class today and watch carefully, Mr. Arc may just surprise you."
Glynda sighed as she nodded and entered the elevator. Maybe Ozpin was right perhaps she was being a bit too unfair too Mr. Arc, after todays class she'll ask him to stay behind to make up for her lack of action.
Ozpin stood and turned to look out the window behind his desk. Yes he had a feeling Mr. Arc would surprise all of them soon enough.
