The Shattered Sight is spread on Storybrooke. Gold meets the Snow Queen into the woods. Gold approaches Ingrid, telling her, "I have an eye for a loophole, and I think I've spotted yours. My wife and grandson will be destroyed by this spell, so I want you to allow them to leave with me. You spare the two of them, I spare you misery. Do we have a deal?"

She agrees to this proposal, and she watches him leave. Then, she is met with a sideburnless Hans and three of his brothers.

"So, you actually came... Tell me, do you wish to be spared from my spell so you can have a place in my kingdom?"

Hans nods, explaining that he wants to finish what he started, he wants to kill the sisters and everyone they ever love. Ingrid says nothing and uses her magic to blow snowflakes in their eyes, turning them blue, explaining it will protect them from the spell.

"Unfortunately, my dear. I do need one of them alive. But if you do want to be part of my kingdom, kill the frozen princess and her ice harvester."

He asks how, "I'm confident you'll come up with something. Now, I do suggest finding a good spot to lay low when this spell takes effect; the first stage is usually chaotic."

Up at the clock tower, the group watches the cloud containing the Spell of Shattered Sight coming closer to town, Elsa realized that Belle had been right all along; her aunt was the one behind it all. Mary Margaret commented on the gravity of the situation, mentioning, "It's the spell of shattered sight." David proposed a plan, suggesting they could find refuge by opening the mines and the vault. Regina, however, warned them, saying, "This is magic. It doesn't care about ceilings. It's started."

Hook asked how long they had, and Regina grimly replied, "By sundown. By sundown, everyone in this town will start... tearing each other apart." Emma, determined to find a solution, stated, "Okay. The answer is simple. Let's not be in town."

They headed to the ice wall. Regina remarked that it was hardly an elegant solution. Emma responded that there was nothing wrong with brute force if it worked. Leroy suggested that if they could get over the wall, they could build a frame to take people over one at a time. Mary Margaret advised David to be careful. As David attempted to climb the ice wall, it defended itself. Emma asked if he was okay while Mary Margaret called out for David. Regina observed that the wall didn't seem to care much for his brute force.

Emma then comes up with a plan, "If we're gonna win, we need to stop wasting time. Mom, dad, Leroy, go tell everyone what's going on. When this goes down, everyone needs to be separated from their loved ones if they don't want to hurt each other. Killian go to waterfront to see if we can use boats to get some people out."

Regina needed to warn Robin Hood because his camp was nearby. Emma agreed and said she and Elsa would talk to Gold for ideas. She asked Henry to come with them. Regina insisted that Henry stay with her, saying she was his best chance.

"These ribbons. If the Snow Queen wants us to be her sisters, then the curse won't affect us."

Emma explained that this meant she should watch Henry closely. Regina argued that Emma was part of the Snow Queen's plan and wanted Henry near her as long as it was safe. Henry reassured everyone that he would be fine with Regina. Emma reminded him to be careful, but Regina urged them to hurry, insisting that it needed to happen right away.

At Gold's shop, Belle and Gold are helping the three learn about the curse, Elsa asked Belle if she had any luck. Belle replied that there was no progress and noted that it seemed to be pretty much unstoppable. Gold then adds, "When one's been affected by the spell, they can be used to reverse it. By taking a strand of their hair, you can create a counterspell—similar to a vaccine—that would neutralize its effects, allowing a vaccine to be made, for only a couple people."

Elsa and Emma look at Anna, asking if they are able to use her hair to make a vaccine now. "Unfortunately, with the condition your sister is now. A vaccine from her would be impossible." Gold responds Emma asks him to explain more.

"All of us here know that each person's magic is unique, but it can change and evolve into something else, transforming into a product of their own." He looks at Anna. "You were cursed in your heart by ice magic—once by your sister and once by the Snow Queen. The first time, her magic harmed you, but this time, it protected you. That's why you retained your memories when the curse was cast, as your sister and Ms. Swan shared information about you. The only magic that can truly harm you is ice magic. This is how the Snow Queen has the power to hurt you and possibly destroy you, but no other type of magic can do the same."

He then goes over to Anna and grabs one of the knives out on display, testing to see if weapons can damage her by trying to stab her in the shoulders, but it results in the blade freezing over and destroying it, leaving only the handle in Gold's hands.

"So, it appears the town won't get any counterspell coming from you." Gold responds, Emma asks him if he has any other ideas, but Gold tells her that he has never encountered this type of ice magic before. Elsa then has an idea, "Well, we know who does." Belle says she will gather the fairies. They can set up nearby and work on the counter spell together if trying to reverse what the Snow Queen did to Anna doesn't work.

The three leave the shop, and Emma asks Elsa where they're going.

"Our future in-laws." Elsa responded as they headed towards the docks.

On the waterfront, Hook used binoculars to gaze out at an ice wall rising from the sea. "No fleeing by boat then," he muttered. Gold, sitting nearby, remarked, "This Snow Queen is good, isn't she? Sit, lad. Don't forget where your heart lies. Now I have a job for you. You remember how this works."

Hook responded, "The hat? Not Emma."

Gold shook his head. "Not this time. I have a better plan. Granny's Diner is being converted into a temporary hive for the vilest of creatures, the pious little fleas. Just like any flying pests, if you wanna eliminate the infestation, it's important to get them all. Doing so will infuse this hat with enough power to allow me to cleave myself from the dagger and then leave this town with my powers intact, a suddenly urgent undertaking. Now will you assist me?"

Hook declared, "You have my heart. You know I can't refuse." Gold replied, "Indeed. But here's the rub, dearie. My wife has just called to inform me that she intends to spend the day sequestered amongst those fleas. So, I need you to stand by while I get her out of the way."

Hook pressed, "The fairies are working to stop the spell. You're killing the cure? If you do this, you condemn the entire town, and even your own grandson, to whatever happens." Gold insisted, "No, I'm not leaving Henry. I will take him, and I will take Belle, and I will leave this town to its fate."

"But Emma and everyone else..." Hook began.

Gold cut him off, "I don't have time for everyone else. And if I have to choose between everyone else and me... 'Me' wins every time. You can clench your jaw and flash your eyes all you wish, because it doesn't change the fact... that we're in this together."

Emma, Elsa, and Anna arrive at the Rolling Stone Bar, which is now empty due to the incoming spell. However, some people were there: some of the now-human trolls, Kristoff, and a brown German Shephard, who ran to Anna, disguised as Ruby, and was licking her face. She checks the dog collar, surprised to see the name "Sven" on it.

"Hey, buddy. It's good to see you here," she says as the dog continues licking her face. Emma and Elsa approach Kristoff and Pabbie, asking for their help. Kristoff sees the disguised Ruby and asks Elsa if it's actually her. "It is," she says. Kristoff approaches Anna, who changes back. They look at each other for a couple of seconds and then kiss.

"Are you okay with this?" Anna asked him.

"It doesn't matter. You're still you." Kristoff tells her, smiling, "I do have something for you." He shows her the other broken half of the necklace and tells her they'll fix it once it's all over.

Elsa and Emma approach them with Pabbie, who tells them that there could be a way to reverse what Ingrid did to Anna, he tells Elsa to try and use her magic to remove the ice as much as she can.

"Focus on the ice surrounding her body speaks to you." Pabbie says, as he leads Elsa's hand, placing it on Anna's chest. As Elsa focuses on the area, Pabbie makes Elsa take a few steps back, allowing some snow and ice to fly from Anna's body, however, as more of them get removes, Anna begins to groan in pain as cracks starts to form around her body. Elsa is too late to notice this when the ice creates a wace strong enough to repel the two sisters back knocking them out. Kristoff and Emma go over the two sisters, wondering why it didn't work.

Gold and Hook arrived at Granny's Diner. Gold placed his orders, instructing Hook, "Go around the back and wait. You'll know when you're needed." He entered Granny's diner. Mother Superior looked at him and asked, "What do you want?"

Gold replied, "Excuse me, but I'd like to borrow my wife. I need her at the shop for a short while."

Mother Superior insisted that they needed Belle. At the same time, Hook entered through the back door, with the hat in his hand, waiting for Gold and Belle to leave to do the task forced upon him.

Belle chimed in, "Mother Superior's right. This is too important."

Gold responded, "Of course. Well, until you can go, I'll just keep you company. Perhaps I'll be helpful." Mother Superior reminded him that they were using light magic.

Gold shrugged and said, "Well, then maybe I'll learn something."

Back at the Rolling Stone Bar, Elsa wakes up with Emma, who was waiting for her to wake up. Elsa asked her where Anna is. She points to the corner where they were. Whatever you tried to do, knocked both of you out, " Emma explains. Elsa then goes over to them and asks Pabbie how Anna, who is now lying on a bar couch, is. "She needs rest. She'll recover soon." Pabbie responds Emma wonders what happened and why it didn't work, something both Kristoff and Elsa want to know, too.

"She is a product of Ingrid's magic, which is why you cannot remove the ice from her. She wants you to remove the ice so you can do what she has been wanting to do, to destroy her, instead of reversing it. Luckily, her ice managed to prevent this from happening."

"So, we can't fix her?" Elsa wonders.

"As long as Ingrid is alive, it's impossible, but once she's gone, you have the power to reverse the curse placed upon her."

David calls Emma, telling her that spell seems to be moving fast as it should be, and Emma believes that the Snow Queen is the one making it fast to prevent any counterspell being made, David tells her that they need to meet with her and Elsa at the sheriff's station to form another plan.

"We need to get back to the station," Emma tells Elsa, who didn't want to leave Anna, but Kristoff comforted her that he will look after her until she wakes up. Emma tells them they'll be affected by the spell once they get back. Pabbie reveals that the bar is covered in rock troll protection magic, allowing those who are or used to be rock trolls and part of their family, meaning Kristoff included, to be immune. "So, don't worry, she'll be safe here."

Emma and Elsa leave the bar, unaware that two people are watching them leave.

Back at Granny's, Belle finishes her call with Emma, telling Gold about how fast the spell is becoming, so Gold suggests bringing her someplace safe and letting the fairies do their job.

"Do you really think they can do it?" Belle wonders.

Gold answers, "Well, perhaps. But, uh, if there's one thing I've learned, it's never trust a fairy. Come. Let's get you to the shop."

Minutes later, Mother Superior was working on the potion when lightning struck. Everyone screamed and ran in a panic, Mother Superior attempts to hide, watching the nuns being sucked into something. Hook finds her, expressing his remorse, saying, "I'm sorry. I truly am," as he traps Mother Superior in the hat.

The two headed to the pawn shop. Gold reassured Belle, "You'll be safe in here." Belle looked at him with concern and asked, "So you... you can keep the spell out?" Gold replied, "No, but we must be separated. As the Dark One, I may be immune to the spell, but you can still hurt me. Go inside and stay in the back room. I'm going to seal it with a protection spell so no one can get to you." Belle nodded and responded, "Okay."

Gold then added, "Look, I... I'll be back soon, and then we're going to be together, and we're going to be fine. I promise." He hugged her before entering the shop, where he began to cast a protection spell over the shop. Just then, Hook arrived, with the box in had.

Gold asked, "Is it done?" Hook gives him the box, "You know, she truly loves you. You could have her forever, or all the power in the world. It's your choice." Gold confidently stated, "I don't need to choose, thank you. I can and will have both."

Hook then inquired, "Now that it's settled, are we done?" Gold responded, "No, no. I'm not going to give up control of you just yet, not until I have everything I need."

Curious, Hook asked, "What's left?" Gold retorted, "That's my concern, not yours. But by morning, all should be complete, including your life. Now run along, dearie, and enjoy your last day in this or any land."

Emma and Elsa head to the sheriff's office, where they find Mary Margaret, David, and Neal. When Emma asks them what their plan is, Mary Margaret responds by handing Emma the keys to the jail and tells her to lock her and David in separate cells, as they don't want to hurt themselves or anyone else when Ingrid's curse takes effect. Emma reluctantly does so and takes her baby brother to protect him. Hook comes in, stating that he had to see Emma one last time, and the two tearfully kiss goodbye before Hook leaves to chain himself to a dock at the marina.

In the mayor's office, Regina tells Henry to stay inside and not let anyone in or out. She locks the door to her office and runs into Robin. He insists he is not afraid of her and wants to be by her side. She responds that no one will be safe when the spell hits, then runs to her vault and locks herself in.

As the indigo thunderstorm approaches, Mary Margaret and David hold hands through the bars, "Don't be afraid. You know, we share a heart, and nothing can come between two halves of one heart. These are just precautions. No spell is strong enough to break what we have."

As the cloud envelops the entire town, shards of mirrors rain down from the sky, causing Mary Margaret's and David's eyes to turn frosty and crack as they release each other's hands and glare at one another menacingly, as they are now under the influence of the Spell of Shattered Sight.
