Ruby watched the strange woman aim her weapon at her while the other behind her waited. This was it for her. A few tears fell down her face as the woman's index finger began to squeeze the trigger. The little girl closed her eyes remembering how she got here.
REMNANT
40 MINUTES EARLIER FOR RUBY
Ruby was playing around in the yard of her family's house on Patch while yang and her father were inside when something glowed which caught her attention.
"Ooh. What's that?" she pondered as she saw a ball of light in front of her. Casting caution to the wind, the little girl touched the object before vanishing from the face of the planet, quite possibly to never return.
What had followed was ruby waking up and getting soaked to the bone in a ruined city.
CURRENT TIME
Ruby flinched as the sound of gunfire assaulted her ears. Risking a peek, she saw that the strange woman's back was facing her, spent bullet casings on the floor.
"You may be human… but you're just a child. I will not accept spilling the blood of children." The woman said relaxing whilst lowering the rifle into a one-handed carry. The barrel of the woman's gun smoking and the bodies of the other women on the ground.
REAPER POV
Reaper narrowed her eyes before extending her scanners for any more Sangvis drones. If they were to find them and realize that she'd gone somewhat rogue. It would result in not only her deactivation, but also meant the little girl's death. That was something she couldn't let happen.
"Are from a human colony beneath the surface?" the T-doll asked turning to face the little girl. "No, I'm from an island called patch in the kingdom of vale." the girl said. Reaper immediately checked her onboard navigational map for a Patch or Vale. she frowned when nothing came up.
"What world do you think this is miss…?" Reaper asked. "I'm Ruby. What's with that question. It's remnant silly." The little girl said with an uneasy smile which faded at Reaper stoic stare. "Ruby, you're currently in the ruins of a city residing in the Neo-Soviet Union on Earth." The T-doll super soldier said
5 MONTHS PRIOR TO PRESENT DAY
Reaper and Ruby watched the battle between M4A1 and executioner. Sadly, M4 was losing badly and the nearby G&K dolls were still too far away. "Think you can shoot from here Scarlet?" Ruby asked handing Reaper a sniper rifle scope. "Really? That thing's an assault rifle, not a DMR kid." Came a voice from one of Ruby's arms. "Look who's awake." Reaper said with disinterest as ruby raised the object revealing it to be the head of Sangvis Ferri Ringleader Scarecrow.
Scarecrow frowned. "Why won't you let me transfer to a fully functional body?" she said. "Because we wouldn't be able to find you again." Ruby said. Scarecrow rolled her eyes. "That and I need someone to watch me while scarlet does recon."
"Once again her designation is Reaper, a prototype Sangvis Ferri T-doll super soldier. Not some child's bodyguard." The disembodied head yelled. "Well, I call her Scarlet because of her red eyes okay!?" Ruby yelled back tears in her eyes. The silver-eyed girl dropped scarecrow's head and ran a little ways away, but not leaving the elite T-doll's field of sight.
"I'm not her bodyguard scarecrow." Reaper said stoically as she aimed her now scoped M16. Scarecrow, however, could tell there was a hint of anger in her voice. "I'm merely helping her find a way to get home. No matter how long it takes." Scarecrow looked at the super soldier as best she could while raising an eyebrow. "What's that supposed to mean?" she asked as reaper shot the handgun out of executioner's hand. "She's not from earth. She's from a place called Remnant."
"Remnant? I recall Dreamer messing with interdimensional travel regarding a dimension we called R3M-8T, but we thought it to be a failure. It was a world with a shattered moon." Scarecrow mused loud enough for Reaper to hear. The T-doll's eyes widened.
"What did you say?" she asked. "I didn't think you'd hear me. also, why would you care?" Scarecrow asked as Reaper picked her up. "Because on her first clear night here on earth, ruby freaked out when she saw the moon saying hers was shattered."
Scarecrow's eyes widened. "So, while the experiment was actually a success, it's our fault she is stranded here?" she said. "Yes." Reaper said. Scarecrow bit her lip. "Ok, I'll help you get her home and won't report you for insubordination. Can you set me down next to her so I can talk to her."
MID-CHAPTER A/N: did you honestly think I'd kill off a main character before the main story began? Nah, I'm not like that. Also, as for why scarecrow is still active as a head… that'll be explained shortly.
Reaper picked Scarecrow up and headed for ruby. "I can't believe this happened. We originally were hoping for a mere object instead of a living being." The bodyless ringleader ranted whilst mentally facepalming.
"Ruby," Reaper said as she walked up to the little girl. "Yeah Scarlet?" Reaper sighed at being called that name. "there's someone that wants to talk with you." She said holding up scarecrow's head.
"Before, you say anything kid. I'm sorry for yelling." Scarecrow said. "And we really need to talk." Reaper handed her to ruby and left to give them some privacy.
PRESENT DAY
Reaper continued to aim at the two G&K dolls alternating between the two if one moved. "Identify yourself drone." The one dressed in blue said. The prototype T-doll closed her eyes. "I'm no drone." Reaper ground out. "Fuck, think it's a new ring leader?" the T-doll super soldier laughed. I'm no ring leader either. I'm Sangvis Ferri's only T-doll Super soldier." She said with a sinister tone
SOPMOD and AR-15 began to panic. They had heard rumors about a Sangvis soldier that looked like their sister M4A1. This must be her. SOPMOD backed away hoping to call for evac when the Sangvis doll laughed.
"You should see your faces." The doll said. "As long as you don't give me a reason to shoot you, I won't kill you." This caused the two G&K dolls to look at each other in confusion. "Why?" SOPMOD asked. "I have a promise to keep." Reaper said before turning. "Where are you going?" AR-15 asked. "To get the rest." The M4 look-a-like said. "Rest?" AR-15 looked at SOPMOD. "I have two people I'm travelling with."
The Sangvis Ferri T-doll walked off motioning for the two to follow. "Ruby, I'm back." It said as they neared a collapsed building.. "Was it trouble." Came a young voice. "Not exactly."
SOPMOD and AR-15's eyes widened as a five-year-old girl wearing a gas mask and wearing a backpack came out of hiding.
"She's the person I'm keeping the promise to." Reaper said glancing at the two. "Where's the other person?" AR-15 asked. "she's in here." 'Ruby' said jerking a thumb to the backpack before taking it off and unzipping it.
"You awake?" the girl asked "am now. What's up?" a groggy yet eerily familiar voice said. "We've run into some other t-dolls." Reaper said. "And I don't think you're going to be pleased as to whom they are."
"Why wouldn't I be they're Sangvis Ferri aren't they?" the two G&K dolls took a step back as Ruby took out a head out of the backpack. A T-doll's head. "Uh. Auntie… if they were Sangvis Ferri. They would be sparking piles of scrap by now." Ruby said using her eyes to gesture towards Reaper.
"Good point. Wait, if they aren't Sangvis Ferri then… Ruby turn me around please." Ruby nodded and rotated the head.
SOPMOD's eyes widened as both her and AR-15's mouths hung open. "SCARECROW!?" they both yelled. Scarecrow's face shifted into a deadpan stare. "Get any and all head jokes you may have out now. I don't much care ranting about them anymore." She said flatly. "Plus, I think I've heard plenty of them already.
"Auntie Scarecrow you know them?" ruby asked. "Sadly, yes." The bodyless ringleader said. "Meet SOPMOD II and AR-15 members of Griffin & Kreuger's' elite T-doll squad called Anti-Rain. SOPMOD's the one in black, AR15 is the one in blue."
Ruby looked at the T-doll named SOPMOD and squinted her eyes. "SOPMOD's teeth look pointed like a Blade Jaw's teeth." Reaper looked towards the girl. "that's a type of Grimm correct?" the T-doll asked. "Yes." Scarecrow frowned. "Why would comparing…" she looked up at ruby. "Jaws?" Ruby nodded with a cheeky grin.
Ruby, Reaper, and (to the G&K dolls' amazement) Scarecrow laughed at Ruby's newly minted nickname for SOPMOD. "What's so funny?" SOPMOD asked "Nothing Jaws." The black clad G&K T-doll blinked owlishly while AR-15's face struggled to contain a laugh. "I don't get it."
Screen goes black
"She called you Jaws due to your pointed teeth SOPMOD." AR-15 said losing composure and laughed.
PROLOGUE PART 2 END
A/N: Thus, ends chapter 2. Can't say if I'm going to continue the prologue past a third part or not, but we'll see. Next part will have Reaper, Ruby, and (a very reluctant) Scarecrow aiding SOPMOD and AR-15 in finding M4 and riding M-16 of a certain infection before ruby returns to remnant ending the prologue.
