"It's not enough to simply survive. Survival alone isn't worth it; it's not worth it without love, without people to share your life with."

Eye for an Eye - Prologue: Darkness and Evil

After the raid on the Griffin depot, Sabre team uneventfully exfiltrated from the area. There was an air of unease surrounding the team; nobody knew for sure how much of a success their mission was, but everyone knew better than to continue pressing the question with Night Eyes. Once at a safe distance, Night Eyes took out the communications device from Swiss's bag and placed it on the ground. She stood back and watched the eerie hologram projection of Alchemist's body appeared in front of her.
"Well, it took you long enough, Child of the Night," Alchemist greeted with her signature sinister smile.
Night Eyes didn't respond, instead starting daggers at the projection.
"So, did you complete the mission?" Alchemist asked, clasping her hands together in anticipation.
"…No," Night Eyes replied.
"Did you manage to locate the data drive?" Alchemist asked.
"…No," Night Eyes replied again.
"That's… quite a shame, isn't it?" Alchemist said, still keeping up her smile. Underneath it, however, Night Eyes could sense she was deeply displeased. "To think that even the renowned Sabre team could not complete such a simple task… one does have to wonder how this all could have happened, hm?"
"…They got lucky," Night Eyes replied with a scowl, "That's all there is to it."
"Is that so? Just simple 'luck?' Oh, the humiliation you must be feeling right now."
Night Eyes remained silent.
"You know, that data drive really meant a lot to me. It really threw a wrench in my… personal plans."
"Get. To. The. Point."
"You need to make up for your failure tonight," Alchemist finally said, "There's a Griffin doll who recently escaped from one of my… 'testing' sites. I want you to find her and return her to me. Should be simple enough for even Sabre team to do, right?"
"Is that all?" Night Eyes asked.
"Yes, that is all," Alchemist replied, "Go on now. Do not disappoint me again."
