Arena
"Alright, let's duel!" Chazz declared, activating his duel disk.
"Get your game on!" Jaden returned, activating his duel disk.
(Jaden 4000/Chazz 4000)
"CHAZZ IT UP! CHAZZ IT UP! CHAZZ IT UP!"
"I always will!" Chazz drew. "I'll set one monster and one card before calling an end to my turn."
"My go!" Jaden drew. "I'll start by summoning Elemental HERO Blazeman(LV 4/1200/1800)." A warrior in black, red, and blue spandex appeared. "I can only activate one of his effects each turn, so I'll use the one to bring Polymerization from my deck to the hand.
Then, I'll use that card to combine my fire attributed Blazeman with Elemental HERO Necroshade from my hand. Time to meet the fire hero. Fusion summon Elemental HERO Nova Master(LV 8/2600/2100)." A red, orange, and black armored warrior appeared.
"I'll now have him attack your face down monster." Nova Master blasted the face down monster with flames which flipped it face up to reveal Ojam Blue(LV 0/1000) before it was destroyed. "When Nova Master destroys an opponent's monster by battle, I get to draw a card."
"Ojama Blue far outstrips the power of that fusion since his destruction allows me to add any 2 Ojama cards I want from my deck to my hand upon being destroyed by battle." Chazz declared, as two cards popped out of his deck.
"I'd say overall it's only a little better than what Jaden achieved." Alexis noted. "Jaden did get to add Polymerization and draw on his turn, after all."
"Yeah, but the ability to add any two cards you want is actually a rather powerful effect." Zane retorted. "Given how well Chazz has shown he can play his cards, it would be unwise to underplay his achievement."
"If the name of the game is card advantage, I'll activate the continuous spell Mirage of Nightmare before proceeding to throw down a couple of face downs." Jaden declared. "Your move Chazz."
"Alright." Chazz drew.
"During your Standby Phase, Mirage of Nightmare lets me draw four cards; however, it will then force me to randomly discard the same number of cards from hand if it is still on the field come my Standby Phase."
"What's the point of a card like that?" Mindy asked.
"Jaden plays with his heart, but that doesn't mean he's one to use such cards with a clear drawback." Greg replied. "Given the way he drew attention to that card remaining on his field come his turn, I'd imagine he doesn't plan for it to still be there then."
Chazz stared impassively as he already figured as much himself. "If you want to keep up this card advantage contest, I'll play along with Graceful Charity to draw 3 cards before then having to discard 2. One of those cards was my Ojamagic. If this card is sent from the hand or field to the grave, I can add Ojamas Black, Yellow, and Green from my deck to the hand."
The three cards popped out, so he fetched them, which in turn caused the three transparent spirits to appear around him.
"Guess you need us to ruff this guy up next, boss." Black added.
"Eh, this kid's hair looks like a Kuriboh." Green voiced.
"Now that you mention it, his hair gives me the creeps." Yellow stated.
"Hey, I like my hair!" Jaden called out.
"Can't take a little insult?" Chazz questioned.
"Wait, you can hear them?" Jaden questioned.
"Given one of the people who had to stay back, I figured you would be the same." Chazz declared. "In my time away, I've formed a bond with my card just as you have. My deck is not merely a weapon, they are my loyal soldiers!"
He raised a fist. "With them by my side, we ride to victory! It all starts with my own Polymerization, which I'll use to combine Ojamas Black, Green, and Yellow. Fusion summon Ojama King(LV 6/0/3000)." A large, white Ojama in a speedo and cape appeared.
"Thank you, thank you very much!" King declared.
"CHAZZ IT UP! CHAZZ IT UP! CHAZZ IT UP!"
"Why would he summon a fusion like that in ATK rather than DEF?" Mindy asked.
"Just as Kai or Alexis have the capacity to utilize their monster's DEF stats on the ATK, I can imagine Chazz is much the same." Zane stated.
"Ojama King lets me target three of your currently unused monster zones and shut them down for as long as he's on the field." Chazz declared. "With that, I'll shut down your two end caps slots and the one just to the left of Nova Master."
"Whoa!" Jaden exclaimed, as the specified slots suddenly had red X's placed over them.
"That's just the start as I'm now taking this duel to Ojama Country!" Chazz activated the field spell, transforming the immediate arena to a rural landscape. "So long as I control at least one Ojama, all monsters on the field swap their ATK and DEF."
Elemental HERO Nova Master(LV 8/2100/2600 effect)
Ojama King(LV 6/3000/0 effect)
"Well, that's certainly not good." Kai noted.
"Especially since Jaden only has so many HEROs of his own with a higher DEF than their ATK." Dimitri added.
"Now Ojama King, take out that HERO!" Chazz ordered.
Ojama King lept into the air before coming down with a belly flop, which flattened Jaden's HERO. Rather than lower the Slifer's life points, they ended up higher than where they started (Jaden 4100/Chazz 4000). Additionally, two of Jaden's three back rows were now gone.
"That was a nice one Chazz!" Jaden complimented. "At the last second before impact, I activated my face down Emergency Provisions, which allows me to send any number of other spell/trap cards I control to the grave to gain an extra 1000 life points. I sent away Mirage of Nightmares.
Additionally, the destruction of Nova Master lets me activate my remaining face down Hero Signal. Now, I can special summon any Level 4 or lower Elemental HERO from my deck, and I want Elemental HERO Avian(LV 3/1000/1000 effect)." The white winged hero appeared.
"Then, I'll set one card, to join the first I still got, before ending my turn." Chazz declared.
"So far, Jaden has managed to defend while contending with Chazz's card advantage." Bastion commented.
"Given Chazz seems to fully understand his deck's reliance on card advantage, I wonder if Jaden can truly keep up in that department." Topher added.
"Not to mention this deck is encroaching on the sheer numbers of archetypes used by the likes of Yugi Muto." Greg voiced. "Like him, I don't think Chazz has had a bad draw."
"Jaden will win, he always does." Alexis declared confidently before Zane coughed as well as gesturing down to Kai. "Well, he usually does."
"That King and field spell combo of yours is pretty good Chazz, shame I'm going to break it." Jaden drew. "I activate a second Polymerization to fuse my Elemental HERO Avian on the field with Burstinatrix from my hand. Fusion Summon Elemental Hero Flame Wingman(LV 6/1200/2100 effect)."
A green warrior with a wing and red dragon arm appeared. "Get ready because this HERO is about to take a good chunk out of your life points. Now that I'm mid attack, I can activate Battle Fusion. Whenever a fusion I control is involved in a battle, they gain ATK equal to the ATK of the monster they're clashing with."
Elemental Hero Flame Wingman(LV 6/4200/2100 effect) flew up before crashing down on Ojama King while cloaked in fire. "Guess this is the end of my show."
(Jaden 4100/Chazz 2800)
"As your Ojama King's ATK is 0 within the grave, it does mean Flame Wingman's added effect doesn't go off." Jaden declared. "That sad, I'll be ending my turn with one set card."
Elemental Hero Flame Wingman(LV 6/2100/1200)
"C'mon Chazz, let's take it to the next level! Chazz it up! Chazz it up!" Headmaster Foster, forgoing all decorum, started up the chant again.
The Northerners kept cheering for their hero, undeterred by the life point lead Jaden had.
"Of course!" Chazz declared, bolstered by the support of his people. "At your End Phase, I activate my first face down, Three as One. Since the combined number of cards you control and in your hand is greater than mine, I can special summon three normal monsters from my grave.
Return, Ojama Green(LV 2/1000/0 effect), Ojama Black(LV 2/1000/0 effect), and Ojama Yellow(LV 2/1000/0 effect)." The three Ojama brothers appeared as one. "This once again puts Ojama Country to work, swapping ATK and DEF for all monsters."
Elemental Hero Flame Wingman(LV 6/1200/2100 effect)
"Now, it's my turn!" Chazz drew. "I'll banish Three as One, which allows me to target three monster cards, with different original names, and set any 1 spell/trap card I wish from my hand or deck that mentions those three monsters."
A card popped out of his deck, and he played it. "The card I set was the spell card Ojama Delta Hurricane! As I control Ojamas Black, Green, and Yellow, this spell will wipe your field. Let him have it, boys!"
"Oh no, if Jay can't defend himself from damage, all Chazz will need to do is summon one more monster strong enough to end this duel." Syrus declared, worried.
"I chain my face down, the quick-play spell Flute of Summoning Kuriboh!" Jaden declared. "This flute lets me special summon a Kuriboh, specifically Winged Kuriboh(LV2/200/300 effect) from my deck." Jaden's ever-faithful spirit companion emerged.
The three original Ojamas then levitated before spinning so fast that they generated a hurricane, which decimated Jaden's field.
"With your Winged Kuriboh's destruction, you no longer take Battle Damage this turn." Chazz noted. "In that case, I'll merely go about setting one more card before calling an end to my turn."
"Here I go!" Jaden drew.
"Not so fast!" Chazz called out. "I activate both my face downs, Ojama Trio and Ojama Duo. Trio summons three while Duo summons two Ojama Tokens(LV 2/1000/0 effect) to your field in defense position. They cannot be tributed, and there's an added effect I'll mention later."
"He just filled Jay's field!" Syrus exclaimed.
"For most duelist, that would be a detriment; however, there are ways around this." Saide noted.
"Jaden just so happens to have a good way around this." Bastion stated.
"It's a good thing I drew my Miracle Fusion." Jaden declared. "By banishing materials from the field or grave, I can fusion summon any Elemental HERO. Your tokens are Light attributed, so I'll banish one of them along with Elemental HERO Blazeman from my grave to bring the light.
Fusion summon Elemental HERO The Shining(LV 8/2100/2600 effect)." A radiant, white suited warrior with a golden hoop behind him appeared. Shinning here gains 300 extra ATK for every Elemental Hero I got chilling in the banished zone.
While all I got there is Elemental HERO Blazeman, that's still three hundred extra ATK." Elemental HERO the Shining(LV 8/2300/2600 effect)." The Shining will attack Ojama Yellow with Optical Storm!"
"Why me!?" Yellow cried before being blasted with the light (Jaden 4100/Chazz 1500).
"As my field is full, I'll have to call the turn here." Jaden declared.
"Your school may have gotten that earlier win, but Jaden is on track to take this final duel." Sheppard declared happily. "That prize is as good as mine."
Foster was dismayed hearing that before gaining a determined expression as he stood. "Come on North Academy! CHAZZ IT UP!"
"CHAZZ IT UP! CHAZZ IT UP! CHAZZ IT UP!"
"I'm not done yet!" Chazz drew. "Alright, I activate the secondary effect of Ojama Country by sending an Ojama card from my hand to the grave, like Ojamatch, to revive any Ojama monster from my grave. Return, Ojama King(LV 6/3000/0 effect)."
"If you beautiful people want an encore, I'll give it." King declared.
"Now, I activate Ojamuscle!" Chazz roared. "This card lets me target 1 Ojama King I control and destroy all other Ojama monsters on the field!"
Ojama Green, Black, and the four tokens on Jaden's field all exploaded, which resulted in the Slifer taking 1200 life points worth of damage (Jaden 2900/Chazz 1500).
"Er, that's some card." Jaden commented. "Though, I'm not sure about destroying your own monsters like that."
"I certainly am because destroying those tokens was only a minor reason behind using that card." Chazz declared. "The other reason is that for every monster destroyed through this effect, the selected monster gains 1000 ATK."
"Four tokens plus two Ojama on his own field…equals an increase of 6000." Bastion gasped.
"That's enough to make Ojama King stronger than Zane's Power Bounded Cyber End Dragon!" Syrus exclaimed.
"Ho ho, check out my pecks!" Ojama King(LV 6/9000/0 effect) declared as his muscles expanded, and he flexed.
"This is the end!" Chazz declared. "Ojama King, crush Elemental HERO the Shining!" Ojama King lept before coming down and belly flopping into the hero, obliterating it (Jaden 0/Chazz 1500). "It's over." He raised his fist while turning to his academy. "North Academy, wins!"
"THE KING IN THE NORTH! THE KING IN THE NORTH! THE KING IN THE NORTH!" The North Academy students cried, victorious.
After the chant, the entirety of North Academy was celebrating. It made their prior celebration over Chazz's last victory seem like a quiet tea party by comparison. After being on the back foot no less, their king came back around to take the duel.
Meanwhile, the students of Central Academy, from the lowliest Slifer to the most elite of Obelisks, were equalized in defeat. With the duel now concluded, it was Jaden's turn to approach Chazz, just as Kai had done prior.
"I may have lost, but that was a sweet duel!" Jaden declared good naturedly. "You sure Chazzed it up!"
"Just as with Kai, the score has been settled between us." Chazz retorted simply.
"Just like with him, we'll have our rematch." Jaden returned.
Chazz nodded with a small smile. "Perhaps." He turned away from the Slifer. "Farewell." He started walking away. "Even without the promise of a rematch, I have a feeling we'll all meet again someday."
"Safe travels, Chazz!" Jaden called out.
Chazz only got so far before he was swarmed by his people, who hoisted him into the air and cheered.
"Hail to our King, The Chazz!" Charlie boomed.
"HAIL OUR KING!" The Northerners chanted.
Chazz thought this display a bit cheesy, but he basked in it none the less. Soon enough, his people carried him all the way outside, down the hills, and to the pier once more.
Docks
Chancellor Foster was literally clacking his heels together as he jumped for joy.
"Oh Chazz, I could kiss you right now!" He exclaimed, as the crowd of students finally arrived at a stop near the docks. "But instead, I'll plant the biggest smooch of my life on the angelic Miss Duel Academy!"
Chazz couldn't help but feel bemused at his chancellor's profound sense of joy. He could care less about his chancellor apparently receiving some prize since he already got everything he could have wanted, even some things he didn't expect, out of this.
"Congratulations, chancellor." Chazz stated, as the crowd put him down.
"It's all thanks to you, my boy!" Foster declared joyously. "Oh, she should be here shortly."
Later…
As it turned out, the beautiful Miss Duel Academy was Miss Dorothy. All the first years, especially those who at any point had a stake in this, whether as actual reps or competing for a rep spot, were utterly stunned. As Foster got his kiss, Sheppard could only stare on and cry.
"A kiss was the big prize?" Jaden questioned, stunned.
Despite not caring about the prize, Chazz still sighed and shook his head. "I am boarding the sub already." He called out to his people. "Someone get Foster, so we can depart soon.
North Academy: Days Later…
The trip back to North Academy was an absolute party, one which Chazz joined in on. Naturally, given his want for North Academy to succeed, he did have to, at times, use a firm hand to ensure no one there forgot they still had homework to be done.
Eventually, they returned to North Academy proper. The sky was clear, and the air was cold as every student who couldn't come with were there to welcome back their brethren. Naturally, they had watched the duels live. Chazz had no doubt the school had been partying nonstop since.
"CHAZZ IT UP!" The students and faculty, nearly a thousand strong, chanted in unison.
The academy was a united front before, but this victory only brought them all closer. Chazz, Sergi, and Charlie strolled through the crowd as returning heroes. Despite them thinking they shouldn't, Chazz would not allow the tag representatives any less respect.
"For the first time in years, North Academy has taken the School Duel!" Foster declared. "Let this victory serve as guidance for us all."
"Indeed." Chazz declared. "The past does not determine the future. At long last, I have cut away my old life at Central Academy, and this victory will be the first of many!"
The crowd cheered before dispersing into specific groups or to see certain people. Chazz was no different as he searched out the distinctive teal hair of Jesse Anderson. It didn't take long to find the crystal beast user, and he immediately joined the guy.
"Those were some sweet matches!" Jessie declared. "I wouldn't mind facing Jaden Yuki or Kai Delmar someday. Heck, Dimitri Thompson seems like he'd be a good duel as well. Man, you weren't kidding when you said Central Academy has some skilled duelists."
"You got that right." Chazz nodded. "So, how have things been up here?"
"You know, cold as ever." Jesse laughed. "Anyways, I'll admit I'm a bit fired up from those duels. What do you say to a game or two later?"
"I say we should see if Sergi, Charlie, and Lucien are up for it." Chazz gave his friend a smile. "We can turn it into quite a few duels to sharpen our skills… "
The two continued to talk about the duels as the rest of North Academy went about returning to a new semblance of normalcy. Of course, Chazz had big plans to boost his new home's reputation further, but for now he could rest on the first steps already taken towards that.
The Duelist of Dawn: Chazz has come quite long way, but as a result of his victory, not to mention the character arc I set him on, he will be sticking with North Academy.
Threebranch: It is, in my opinion, the most anime card in all of the TCG/OCG. You got to have special summoned Armed Dragon LV7 and VXXYZ before you can ever bust this thing out. In order to bust of VWXYZ, you naturally got to bust out VW and XYZ to boot. Then, once you get them out, the big fusion pretty much works as ABC and the next XYZ work in that you can banish them from the grave to bust it out.
Vital Info: Well, it's all a matter of picking a choosing how the story should progress. The fact is, Central Academy isn't a weak school in the slightest, as well as the fact that so many students there have only gotten better throughout this year. They've learned the best on the island still has a long way to go, so that pushes them. Not to mention three of the best duelists then gave them all a demonstration of just how far they have to go.
It's advisory which has pushed them all to grow ever stronger. If Seto/Kagemaru had chosen to put the Sacred Beast in North Academy, then that would be a whole other story. At this point, their only dangerous card is the Reaper, and that was just rumored to be on the ice rather than someone knowing for certain it was out there. That said, this victory was all North Academy's in the end. Also, I fixed that line last chapter.
