Chapter 13: The Cursed Island Part 2

Let it be known; I do not own Fairy Tail nor Pokémon which fully belong to their rightful owners. The only thing I own is my OC and this stories plotline.

(Last chapter, Mirajane found one of the S class requests, that being about a cursed island, was missing! Laxus told them that he saw Happy take it but didn't tell anyone about it nor tried to stop the cat. Afterwards Jason and Gray were sent to bring back Natsu, Lucy and Happy. He also told Laxus that he was now on thin ice for his actions.) "If they come back safe and sound, you will be given a strike." Makarov said. "Three and you're gone." (About time if you ask me. Anyways, the duo arrived in Hargeon and quickly tracked down Team Natsu. They were about to start fighting since Natsu refused to go back when a man named Bobo that owned a boat learned we were Wizards and offered to take them to the island. Jay was against going at first but when Bobo said that there were people suffering from the curse on the island, he joined.) "I'm not doing this for fame or the reward." Jason said. "I'm doing it for the villagers on the island." (On the way there a whole bunch of things happened. Bobo disappeared, a giant wave crashed on them, they witnessed the curse of the villagers, the village chief asked them to blow up the fucking moon! The group decided to sleep for the night and head out first thing in the morning. When morning came and they started their search for answers, they fought a giant mouse before coming across the ruins of a temple… then Natsu broke the floor causing everyone to fall into an underground cave. After chasing Natsu who ran off ahead they found something. Something Gray thought he'd never see.) "Deliora… is the Demon of Disaster." Gray revealed. (Guess this'll be more than they bargained for.)

(Insert S.O.W. Sense Of Wonder opening here)

(Jason PoV)

Nothing was said as we stared at the demon frozen in a dome of ice. I don't know the reason why Gray hates this thing or what his history with it is, but I can see just how much it's affecting him.

"Deliora…" Gray growled.

"A demon your teacher sealed?" Natsu asked.

"Who gave her very life up to do so." I commented.

"Yes, it's Deliora all right." Gray confirmed.

"So it was transported from the Northern Continent to here?" Happy asked.

"Maybe the island's curse has to do with this demon?" Lucy asked.

"Gray, is Deliora capable of something like that?" I asked him.

"Seems like the obvious conclusion." Gray said without a second thought. "This demon is still alive, after all."

"Alrighty then!" Natsu said as he stepped beside Gray while spinning his arm. "All we's gotta do is bust up this demon!"

"Is force your only solution to every problem?" Lucy asked with a sigh.

"Just watch me!" Natsu said.

Suddenly, Gray decked Natsu in the face! The rest of us were shocked!

"Gray hit him!" Happy exclaimed.

"That's not really that uncommon, but…" Lucy said.

"Gray calm down!" I ordered while getting in between him and Natsu so a fight wouldn't start.

"Hey! What's the big idea?" Natsu demanded while holding where he got punched but stopped when he saw the look of fear on Grays face.

"Don't get near it, you Fire Wizard!" Gray snapped. "If that ice melts, and it's freed, no one would be able to stop it!"

'That's right, Gray said this thing is immortal, so if it got out then…' I thought as Natsu stood up.

"What? Would that ice really melt all that easily?" Natsu asked.

Gray looked at him in surprise then looked down.

"No…" Gray said.

"Are you okay?" Lucy asked while placing a hand on Grays shoulder.

"Hey, I'm the one who got punched!" Natsu snapped. "You're a barbarian!"

"…Says Natsu." Happy commented.

"What did your master do exactly Gray?" I asked.

"My master, Ur, encased the demon using an Iced Shell spell." Gray said. "That's ice that can't melt. No matter what kind of magical fire you use, you couldn't melt that ice."

'Geez, with praise like that, probably not even fire attacks from Legendries could melt it.' I thought.

"If they knew they couldn't melt it, then why move it here?" Gray asked.

"I don't know, but maybe they're trying to melt it somehow?" Lucy guessed.

"But why?!" Gray snapped.

"I don't know!" Lucy whined.

"*tch* Something isn't right here." Gray said. "Who brought Deliora here, and for what reason?"

"Well, it's pretty simple." Natsu said. "We should chase after those guys from before."

"Yeah." Lucy said in agreement.

"No." Gray denied. "We wait here."

"For what?" Happy asked.

"We wait until the moon comes out." Gray answered.

"Then moon?" Natsu exclaimed. "But it's still noon! No way, no how! I'd be bored to death!"

"Gray, what are you taking about?" Lucy asked.

That's when I realized what he was getting at.

"Is this about the "Moon Drip" that Yuka guy was talking about?" I asked and he nodded.

"I think that this island's curse and Deliora are both connected somehow with the moon." Gray said. "And those guys also said, "Soon we'll have collected enough moonlight"."

"I see." Lucy said. "I am curious about what'll happen and what they're up to."

"I can't stand it!" Natsu snapped. "I'm going after them!"

At least that's what he said he was going to do but he fell asleep.

"That was fast." Lucy said.

"At least we won't have to chase after him." I pointed out.

"Aye!" Happy said.

We all sat down at different spots to wait for nightfall with only the sound of Natsu snoring comforting us.

"This guy really just lives on instinct, you know?" Lucy said.

"Aye. That's Natsu for you." Happy said.

"I'm almost kind of jealous." Lucy said.

While Lucy was feeling envious of Natsu, I looked over to Gray. He had a sad look on his face, probably remembering things from his past that were making their way to the surface. It's already obvious that he and Deliora share a history of some kind but it's not my place to ask, at least not yet. I looked to the ceiling of the cave as I began to think to myself. After we first stepped into the temple, I felt it… A Plate. The eighth Plate was somewhere above us, but now was not the time to look for it. *Looks of at Gray* My friend needs me in what's got to be a difficult time for him. Besides, after we're done with all this, I can look for it at my leisure.

"*sigh* Waiting is pretty boring." Lucy complained.

"Aye." Happy agreed.

"That's it!" Lucy suddenly said as she clapped her hands.

Lucy then pulls out a Silver Gate Key. This one had the picture of what looked like a harp on it.

"Gate of the Harp! Open! Lyra!" Lucy commanded.

In a puff of pink smoke came a young girl that looked about Lucy's age. I say "looked" because these are Spirits and they've lived for a long time, no doubt making them older than all humans put together. She wore a long blue dress with yellow heart prints by her waist. Waist length strawberry blonde hair that curls at the end while wearing a pink bonnet on top of her head. Leather shoes on her feet. Small wings and a large blue/greenish harp on her back.

"Heya! Long time no see, Lucy!" Lyra greeted.

"Hi, Lyra!" Lucy greeted her back happily.

"Why don't you call me more often?" Lyra asked. "I want to be lots and lots more helpful to you! Lucy, you're such a meanie!"

"A meanie?" Lucy asked. "But I can only call you three days a month!"

"Oh, really?" Lyra asked with a shocked look.

"How can you forget?" I asked. "You were there when you made the contract with Lucy, right?"

"A Spirit like me has many contracts so I tend to forget sometimes." Lyra chuckled nervously.

"We got another weirdo here." Happy commented.

"So, what kind of song would you like me to sing today?" Lyra asked excitedly.

"Whatever you want. Your choice." Lucy said.

"I'd like a song about fish!" Happy requested.

"Please ignore the talking cat." I said deadpanning.

"Then I'll play whatever comes to mind!" Lyra said.

"She seems really excited." I said.

"Lyra is very good at singing." Lucy said.

"Mira is also a good singer." Happy said. "She sings me songs about fish, too."

'Mira singing, huh.' I thought. 'I wouldn't mind hearing that.'

Lyra took the harp off her back and began to play it. It sounded really nice and soothing. I couldn't help but close my eyes and listen to her sing.

(Lyra singing)

Words given birth…

Words dying out…

The words living on inside of you…

Time seems to stand still, changes into courage…

Now, step out…

You'll become stronger than you were.

Be lost no longer.

Believe in those words back then.

(Song end)

At the sound of someone sniffing my eyes snapped open and I looked towards Gray, who was barely holding back his tears.

"Hey, uh… Gray?" Lucy asked.

"What?" Gray asked, not looking at us.

"You're crying?" Happy asked.

"It's true that Lyra has the power to sing songs that reflect what's in people's hearts." Lucy said.

"Gray was crying." Happy said.

"No, I wasn't!" Gray said.

"That might have been something you could've said before Lucy." I said. "In case it wasn't obvious about how Gray's been acting, but seeing Deliora has brought up some bad memories for him."

"Sing a happier song, Lyra!" Lucy ordered.

"Oh! Then tell me that beforehand." Lyra said.

"Now that I think about it, what if someone comes along?" Gray said. "Be quiet."

After that everyone decided to just sleep until night came. I offered to take the first watch in case someone comes. Soon the only ones left awake were me and Lyra who decided to stay. I looked over to the songstress.

"Is it okay for you to be here?" I asked. "Won't Lucy's magic be drained?"

"She'll be fine!" Lyra waved off. "I'm using my own magic to stay here."

"Alright then." I said with a shrug while turning away. "Though I don't know why cause it's gonna be boring sitting here and doing nothing."

"Actually, I wanted to talk to you." Lyra said. "You're not from around here, are you?"

"Not really, no." I said. "I'm from a land far away from here."

"Like a whole other world." the Spirit stated, not asked.

I froze at what she said. Slowly looked back at her.

"…How did you know?" I asked, tensing up.

"Wait, wait, wait!" Lyra exclaimed while waving her hands quickly in front of her. "I'm not going to attack you or anything like that! I'm not even a combat type Spirit anyways! I just want to talk to you on behalf of our King!"

"Your king?" I asked.

"Yes, the Celestial Spirit King." Lyra answered. "A few weeks ago, in human terms that is, he felt a disturbance in the fabric in Time and Space. When he tried to investigate it, he couldn't find where it came from."

"In "human terms"?" I asked. "Does that mean time flows differently for Spirits, wherever you come from?"

"Yeah!" Lyra said with a nod. "In our time, one day back home equals three months for you humans."

"Wow." I said with eyes slightly widened. 'Meaning time flies fast for Celestial Spirits.'

"So anyways like I was saying, our King couldn't find anything." Lyra continued. "That is until he sensed another disturbance, this time coming from Earthland! After locating it, he finds you and those weird creatures with you."

"They're called Pokémon." I said with a deadpan. "Please don't call them "weird creatures" again or I'll start calling you Spirits "Magic Ghosts".

"U-Understood." Lyra said with a sweatdrop. "Originally, he was going to straight up obliterate you, but then he felt some kind of Divine Energy coming from you and stopped. He chose to watch you to see if you were a threat to our world."

"And I'm guessing he's doing it right now?" I asked while looking up at the ceiling.

"That's right!" Lyra confirmed happily.

"Well, you can tell your King that we're not here for any notorious means." I said looking back at Lyra. "I'm here to make a… "good first impression" so to speak. Also, to make sure your world is safe."

"Good first impression and to make sure it's safe?" Lyra asked. "What for?"

"In case my world faces an event that'd bring it to an end that can't be avoided. If that happens, we'll need a haven to go too." I explained. "To be honest with you, we found your world by complete accident and after doing a bit of observing, it looked like just what we needed."

"Do you plan on invading?" Lyra asked.

"No, we simply want to live in peace with one another." I answered. "I was chosen to show the people of Earthland that the Pokémon aren't bad or dangerous. What do you think would happen if everyone and thing from my world showed up on yours?"

"Both sides would attack each other!" Lyra realized. "But you all want to avoid that!"

"Exactly." I confirmed.

"Okay! I'll be sure to tell my King all of this." Lyra said. "Thank you."

"I just don't want any trouble is all." I said.

"But why do you have Divine Energy?" Lyra asked.

"The God of my world, Arceus, gave me some of their power." I said. "Humans in my world don't have magic, so to better blend in and protect myself…"

"Got it." Lyra said.

Suddenly, the cave started to shake, waking everyone else up.

"What the?!" I exclaimed.

"What's that noise?" Lucy asked drowsy.

"It's night?" Natsu asked, bolting right up.

The next thing we know, a magic circle with light coming out of it appeared on the ceiling right above Deliora.

"Light's coming down from…" Lucy started to say.

"…the ceiling!" Natsu finished.

"Purple light!" Gray said. "It's light from the moon!"

"What the heck?" Happy asked. "What's going on?"

"Is this what those three from before meant?" I asked.

The light from the circle started to focus right on the ice.

"It's landing on Deliora." Gray said.

"This is no coincidence!" Natsu said.

"That's all the proof we need." I said.

"Let's go!" Gray said. "We'll search for where the light is coming from!"

"Aye!" Happy said.

We started to run and search for some way up. Luckily, we found some stairs that lead back into the temple. Upon reentering the temple, we see two more circles, both on the floor and ceiling.

"A magic circle is spread over the center of the ruin!" Gray said.

"It's farther above!" Natsu said.

"If it's light from the moon we need to head to the top of the temple!" I said.

We resumed running towards the top. Making our way to it, we see some kind of cultists chanting the same thing repeatedly in a circle.

"Kuupelar Kulrakar Zeram…sem…Deioluna!"

"What's that?" Natsu asked while we hid.

"Shh." Lucy said.

Following the line of light, we see multiple magic circles that lead up towards the moon.

"The moon!" Gray said.

"They're really collecting the light from the moon." Natsu said.

"What are they trying to do by shining it on Deliora?" Lucy asked.

"Do you have any idea's Lyra?" I asked the Spirit that was still here.

"It's a spell in Belianese… Moon Drip!" she answered.

"Wait, you're still here?" Lucy asked in surprise.

"I see. So that's it." Lyra said.

"What? What is it?" Lucy asked.

"They're using Moon Drip to resurrect that demon!" Lyra said.

"What/Nani?" both Natsu and I responded in shock.

"You're kidding me!" Gray exclaimed. "Iced Shell is ice that can't be melted!"

"While that is true, the magic that can melt it is the Moon Drip." Lyra said. "The collected magic of the moon has the power to undo any magic."

"So that's why…" I muttered. "And it's taken them three whole years to do."

"Oh, no!" Happy said.

"These guys don't know the horror of Deliora!" Gray growled.

'If they have a magic that can melt Iced Shell, maybe they have a magic that makes them think they can control Deliora!' I thought.

"I think the curse that the people believe is on this island is a side-effect of the Moon Drip." Lyra theorized. "The collected magic from the moon is contaminating their bodies. That's just how powerful a magic it is."

"Damn them!" Natsu growled.

I could tell that Natsu was about ready to attack them before Lucy stopped him.

"Hold it!" Lucy said as she elbowed Natsu under his chin and caused him to fall on his back. "Someone's coming!"

Walking towards the group of chanters was someone whom I'm guessing is this "Sub-Zero Emperor" wearing a long white coat with a helmet that looked almost like Deliora's face. Behind them was Toby, Yuka and Sherry. However, while looking at them, I noticed a familiar feeling.

'The Plate is here?!' I thought. 'It's getting closer! Does that mean one of them has it?'

"Damn it, I'm all sleepy after waking up at noon." Yuka complained. "And we never did find the intruders."

Toby started to doze off while Yuka was talking before snapping awake.

"If they even existed!" Toby yelled.

"It is saddening, Lord Sub-Zero." Sherry said. "There seemed to be intruders around noon, but we failed to catch them. I can't express my love like this."

"Intruders…" the Emperor said.

I noticed that Gray's eyes widened at hearing the guys voice.

"So that's Sub-Zero." Natsu said.

"What a big shot…" Lucy said. "He's even wearing a funky mask."

"Really? I think it looks cool." Happy commented.

While those three were talking, I was focusing on the energy from the Plate I kept sensing. Being this close I quickly pinpointed it coming from "Mr. Freeze" himself.

'But why does he have it?' I thought to myself.

"Has Deliora been revived yet?" Sub-Zero asked.

"At this rate, either today or tomorrow…" Sherry answered.

"Which is it?!" Toby snapped.

"That dude needs to chill." I said with a sweatdrop.

"Finally…" Sub-Zero said. "As for the intruders, I will brook no interference."

"Yes. The only other people here should be the villagers on the far side of the island." Sherry said.

"Destroy the village." the Emperor ordered.

"Yes/Understood/*snort*" the three lackies said.

"What?" Natsu asked in shock.

"But the people in the village had nothing to do with it!" Lucy argued.

"Except they don't know about us!" I said. "The only people they do are the villagers and came to that conclusion!"

"That's messed up!" Natsu growled.

"I would rather avoid bloodshed, however…" Sub-Zero said.

'That voice… It couldn't be…' Gray thought.

"I can't stand sneakin' around anymore!" Natsu yelled as he stood up before unleashing flames from his mouth into the sky. "Your "interferers" are right here!"

The group of baddies looked in our direction. The lackies had looks of surprise on their faces, while the Emperor was hard to tell due to his mask covering half of it.

"Well I guess we have to do this now, don't we?" Lucy asked.

"How can I help?" Lyra asked. "Want me to sing again?"

"We could use some battle music." I joked while getting ready to fight.

"You go back." Lucy said with a tick mark on her head.

"Aw, you're no fun." Lyra said. "Bye Jay! I was nice talking with you!"

Lyra then poofs into pink smoke. (Insert *WOW* Fairy Tail version soundtrack)

"When did you two talk?" Lucy asked.

"When you all were asleep." I answered.

"That mark… They're from Fairy Tail." Sherry informed when she saw Natsu's mark.

"I see. So the people from the village requested a guild save them." Yuka said.

"What are you doing?" Sub-Zero demanded. "Eliminate the village now."

"Huh?" Lucy asked.

"Why?" Natsu asked.

"Anyone who interferes or plots against me is my enemy." Sub-Zero said.

"But the villagers don't even know you exist!" I argued. "The only reason we came here is because your big ass rodent chased us to the temple in the first place! We came to this island for an entirely different request from them!"

"Meaning they're to blame for you guild wizards coming here." Sub-Zero said. "Therefore, they need to be eliminated."

"Why?" Natsu yelled before charging them.

Then much to our surprise, Gray runs past Natsu!

"Why you…" Gray yelled as he attacked the Emperor. "I'll stop this crazy ritual of yours!"

Gray unleashed a wave of ice towards the enemy. The lackies jumped away while Mr. Freeze unleashed a similar attack back at Gray. Both attacks canceled each other out and shattered.

"He also used ice?" Happy asked in surprise.

"Guess that's why he's called the "Sub-Zero Emperor"." I commented. "But is it just me, or did their attacks look similar?"

"Lyon…" Gray growled.

"Huh?" Natsu asked.

"Lyon?" Lucy asked.

"You bastard… Do you have any idea what you're doing?" Gray asked.

"How long has it been, Gray?" Lyon asked.

"What's the meaning of this?" Gray demanded.

"I can't believe you were the wizard the village called here." Lyon said. "Did you come knowingly? Or is this just a coincidence?"

While this "Lyon" was talking, I was thinking.

'Uses ice magic the same as Gray. They know each other.' I thought. '…! Don't tell me they're…!'

"Well, no matter." Lyon said.

"Emperor Lyon, you know him?" Yuka asked.

"Go now." Lyon ordered, not answering the question. "I can handle things here myself."

The three lackies ran off to carry out their order without hesitation.

"You think we'll let you go so easily?!" Natsu yelled.

Natsu ran towards Lyon.

"Natsu wait!" I yelled.

"Stop Natsu! Don't move!" Gray shouted.

Lyon held out a hand towards Natsu and unleashed a gust of icy wind. The wind started to freeze Natsu's body!

"Natsu!" Lucy exclaimed.

"Happy! Take care of Lucy!" Gray ordered.

"Get back to the village!" I ordered as I got beside Gray.

"Aye!" Happy complied.

Happy immediately grew his wings and grabbed Lucy before taking to the air.

"Hey!" Lucy gasped.

Lyon was about to let loose another attack, no doubt at Happy and Lucy, but me and Gray wouldn't let him. Gray launched a pillar of ice at Lyon while I attacked with Air Slash, but Lyon blocked both our attacks with an ice shield.

"Damn it, I can't move!" Natsu said as the ice started to form a ball, leaving his head, hands and half of both his legs untouched.

"Happy, are you abandoning Natsu?" Lucy demanded.

"He got encased by magic that freezes air!" Happy explained. "At this rate we'll be turned to ice next!"

"But what'll happen to Natsu, Gray and Jason?" Lucy asked.

"If we're all done in, who'll protect the village?!" Happy asked. "That's why Jay told us to go back there!"

Lucy gasped in realization that this was something Happy didn't want to do, but knew he had to.

"I'm sorry… It took a lot of effort to keep yourself from helping Natsu, didn't it?" Lucy asked.

Happy sniffed to hold back his tears.

"I'm sure Natsu'll be fine!" Lucy said. "You think ice would work against the Salamander?"

"Aye!" Happy said as they flew back to the village.

"So you bought enough time for the woman and cat to get away?" Lyon stated.

"Someone had to warn the villagers what was coming." I said.

"No matter… Sherry and the rest should have no problems against them." Lyon said.

"Don't underestimate Fairy Tail wizards!" Natsu snapped.

Then Gray suddenly kicked Natsu down the temple!

"Aye!" Natsu exclaimed in shock. "What are you doing?" (Insert *WOW* Fairy Tail version soundtrack)

I simply looked at Gray with my jaw dropped.

"Always the one for theatrics." Lyon said. "Wasn't he your ally?"

"Yeah Gray, what the hell?" I asked.

"It's because he could magically explode that ice ball whenever he felt like it." Gray informed.

"So you made sure Natsu's out of his magics range!" I gasped.

"Not bad, Gray." Lyon commented.

"Enough with the elder-student act already, Lyon." Gray said. "You're no longer Ur's pupil!"

"Neither are you, Gray." Lyon retorted.

"Guess I was right." I commented. "You both were taught by the same teacher, Ur."

"So, Gray told you about Ur, did he?" Lyon asked. "Did he also tell you about how she died?"

"By sacrificing her life to seal Deliora using Iced Shell." I answered.

Lyon looked at me before chuckling.

"So he didn't tell you everything." Lyon said. "Not surprising."

"Nani?" I asked.

Lyon then reached up and removed his helmet. Lyon had slightly spiky bluish silver hair and dark round pupils.

"The truth is, Deliora didn't kill our master." Lyon said. "It was Gray who killed Ur!"

I looked at Gray in surprise while said man had a look of pain in his eyes.

"And yet you lived on, unashamed, Gray." Lyon continued.

(3rd PoV)

Natsu had finished rolling down and far away from the temple. Due to how much speed he picked up, Natsu had landed deep in the dirt but had simply shot out fire from his mouth like a makeshift rocket and landed on his feet.

"Damn that Gray! I'll remember this!" Natsu snapped.

Natsu tried to melt the ice covering his body, but for some reason wasn't having much luck.

"What's with this ice, thought?" Natsu muttered. "I can't melt it with fire…"

After a bit he stops trying.

"I don't have time for this! I've got to get back to the village!" Natsu said.

He starts to hobble through the forest due to most of his body being frozen.

"Damn it! It's hard to run like this!" Natsu complained as he almost tripped.

Out at sea, a ship was making its way to the island. This was strange as Bob said no ship, not even pirates, would go to this place. Well, the reason being it wasn't pirates controlling the ship right now. Laying all over the ship was the crew, knocked out. At the wheel was the pirate's captain, who turned back to address the one currently in charge of his own ship.

"Why do you want to go to that island?" he asked. "…Ma'am?

"Shut up and steer." the apparent female ordered.

The crew began to come too.

"Give us a break here!" the captain begged. "…Please? Galuna island is cursed! The rumors say that humans turn into demons!"

"I don't care." The familiar sounding female retorted.

"Uh… Oh." The captain said.

"I am going there to punish some rule breakers." The female said. "That is all."

The female in question was Erza Scarlet herself. Since it was taking Gray and Jason so long to get back, Makarov ordered Erza to get them. After finding out from eyewitnesses (that didn't get headbutted by her) that saw them getting into a boat headed towards Galuna island, she "asked" some pirates to take her there.

"Cool!" pirate member #1 said.

"You're awesome!" pirate member #2 said.

"Let's go, Ma'am!" pirate member #3 said.

"We'll follow you anywhere!" pirate member #4 said.

"Hurry!" Erza ordered.

"Aye, sir!" the pirates shouted.

"Uh, can I join you too? Madam?" The pirate's captain asked.

(Jay Pov)

After Lyon's proclamation, I stared at Gray. The chanting cultists watched the three of us.

"I'll say it again." Lyon said. "Gray is the one who killed Ur."

"Bullshit!" I snapped. "There's no way he would kill her!"

"Then ask him." Lyon said.

"Gray it's not true right?" I asked the ice wizard.

"I…" Gray tried to say but stopped.

"You see. He can't even bring himself to admit. Besides…" Lyon said. "How dare you even speak her name!"

Lyon then sent a pillar of ice at Gray, hitting him into a broken wall. The strange thing is that it looked like a puffer fish.

"Gray!" I yelled.

"L-Lyon…" Gray muttered as he slowly got up.

"What's the matter?" Lyon asked. "Is the guilt stopping you? Then don't get in my way. Let me revive Deliora."

"I won't let you!" Gray yelled.

"More like we won't let you." I said, getting into a fighting stance.

"No Jay!" Gray said. "This is between me and Lyon!"

"Normally I'd stay on the sidelines in cases like this while letting two rivals hash things out." I said. "But not this time! Deliora can't be set free no matter what! Plus, I have my own reason for joining in."

Lyon let go of his helmet as it dropped to the ground.

"So be it." Lyon said with a smirk. "Let's have a match, just like old times. Ice Make: Eagle!"

From Lyon's magic circle came dozens of ice shaped eagles that came at us.

"Double Team!" I yelled.

"Ice Make: Shield!" Gray yelled.

I created clones of myself all around the field. Some of the eagles hit the clones and vanished while the others headed to Gray who put up a shield to protect himself. But just as they were about to hit, they suddenly moved around the shield and hit Gray!

"Gray!" me and my clones yelled so Lyon wouldn't be able to find the real me.

"Your specialty is creating inanimate objects. Static Ice Make." Lyon said. "While my creations are creatures. Moving Ice Make."

'So that means there are different versions of magic types.' I thought while moving behind Lyon.

"Did you forget about ice that can move?" Lyon asked Gray as he made ice shoot up underneath him.

Gray jumped before the ice hit him and put his hands together.

"Ice Make: Hammer!" Gray announced.

Gray launched a giant ice hammer at Lyon, who simply held his hand up.

"Ice Make: Ape!" Lyon said.

An Ape appeared behind Lyon and used its arms to not only block the hammer but shattered it too.

"Pitiful. You still use both hands when you use creation magic? Unlike your friend who created his copies so well that I almost can't tell the real from fake." Lyon said. "Almost."

The ice ape then swung its arms behind it right at me! I jumped past it while swinging my arm and landed beside Gray as he landed on the ground himself. Lyon was looking at us before he felt something off with his creation. Looking at it, he saw it was sliced and fall into two pieces before breaking apart. With his eyes widened, he looks at me in surprise. I stand up and show my hand being coated in Fighting Type Energy, shaped like a blade before fading. While jumping past the ape, I used Sacred Sword to counterattack.

"Impressive." Lyon complimented.

"What can I say." I said. "I put in the work when I train."

"That's what Ur taught us, remember?" Gray said. "If you use one hand to create, it'll be incomplete and off balanced!"

I had noticed when Lyon was casting his magic that he was using one hand to do it.

"You mean using only one hand would make your magic weaker?" I asked.

"That's right." Gray confirmed.

'That doesn't make sense.' I thought. 'I could tell his creatures have a lot of strength, so then how- *eyes widen* Oh no! Don't tell me the Plate he has is…!'

"I'm special!" Lyon stated. "I've long since surpassed Ur's ability!"

"Don't get a big head!" Gray snapped.

"Same to you." Lyon retorted. "I wonder if you'll be able to land even a single hit on me."

"But is that true?" I asked, getting both their attention. "Is it your own power or is it the power from the item you currently have in your possession?"

"How do you…?" Lyon asked, slightly surprised.

"What are you talking about Jay?" Gray asked.

"He has a Plate!" I answered.

"A Plate?!" Gray asked in surprise.

"Yeah, and if what you just said about your magic is true, then I know which Plate he has." I said.

"Is this the item you speak of?" Lyon asked as he brought out something behind him.

Holding up the item in question showed it was the Icicle Plate!

"*tch* looks like I was right." I said. "It's the Icicle Plate."

"So this item is called a "Plate", is that right?" Lyon asked. "Truth be told, I always wondered what it was."

"How does Lyon having that Plate explain anything?" Gray asked me.

"Because the Icicle Plate boosts the power of ice "magic"." I answered him. "Meaning his one-handed magic casting is as strong as or even stronger than two-handed magic casting."

Gray's eyes widened at that explanation.

"Tell me, how do you know so much of this item?" Lyon asked.

"Because it belongs to me." I said. "I've been chosen to gather the Plates!"

"You've been chosen, huh?" Lyon asked as he put the Plate away. "Then I guess since I found it, I've been chosen too."

I scoffed at that.

"More like lucky! You can only just barely scratch the surface of the power from the Icicle Plate, due to being an ice wizard!" I said.

Gray made another magic circle.

"It doesn't matter if you have that Plate or not! Don't think I'm still the same as I used to be!" Gray growled. "Ice Geyser!"

Gray slammed both his hands on the ground and multiple spikes of ice covered Lyon and rose high into the air. The cultists all ran from the ice that broke off falling on them.

"Have a taste of this! Thunder!" I yelled.

A giant bolt of lightning shot down from above and hit the ice tower, shattering it. Sadly, Lyon revealed himself to be fine.

'Seriously?!' I thought. 'He's, okay? That was one of the strongest Electric Type moves! How can he-…wait… oh don't tell me he also gets a boost in defense and resistance like me?!'

"Same as you were." Lyon said. "I'm the elder apprentice. And stronger than you. I could use creation magic with one hand, and you could not. Nothing's changed. We may have traveled different paths, but both of us are frozen as we were at that time."

"Frozen at that time?" I muttered. 'Could he mean what happened with Ur?'

I didn't have any more time to think about it as Lyon raised his hand up and summoned a magic circle. I noticed that ice was gathering underneath us and knew what was about to happen.

"Gray move now!" I yelled at him before jumping to the side.

Unfortunately, he did react fast enough and was hit by the big ice dragon that sprouted from the ground!

"Gah!" Gray cried out in pain.

"Gray! I yelled.

"That's why I'll melt the ice!" Lyon announced. "In order to walk the path that was sealed!"

Gray landed hard back on the ground, and I ran over to check on him.

"My goal was Ur." Lyon said. "Surpassing Ur was my dream. But you stole that dream from me."

'His dream was to surpass his teacher?' I thought.

"I thought I would never have the chance to surpass Ur again." Lyon continued. "But there was one way."

"Deliora…" I said.

"Exactly." Lyon confirmed. "If I could do what even Ur could not: defeat Deliora…"

Lyon then started to gain a crazy smile on his face.

"Then I can surpass Ur…" Lyon said. "I can finally dream again!"

"Are you serious?" Gray asked as he stood up. "That's your goal? You should know all too well the horror of Deliora!"

"And what if you can't beat it?" I asked. "That demon will go on to continue killing people and it'll be your fault for freeing it! Is that what your master would want?"

Lyon just gave us a blank stare. Not even caring about what we said.

"Stop! It's impossible!" Gray begged his old friend.

This seemed like the wrong thing to say cause Lyon went into a rage.

""Stop, it's impossible," you say?" Lyon asked as he summoned a swarm of ice centipedes to strike Gray then another flock of eagles.

'He's completely ignoring me.' I thought shocked.

"That's exactly what we said to you back then…" Lyon said. "You can't have forgotten that. It's because you challenged Deliora that Ur's dead!"

Lyon summoned another ape to punch Gray into the air.

"You have no right to speak Ur's name! Begone!" Lyon said enraged. "Die!"

He unleashed an ice dragon, aiming to kill Gray but I wouldn't let that happen.

"Detect!" I yelled as I grabbed Gray.

Using that move allowed me to dodge Lyon's dragon while in midair. After landing on the ground and making sure Gray was over my shoulders, I didn't give Lyon a chance to launch another attack.

"Smokescreen!" I said as I blew out smoke from my mouth towards Lyon.

Not wanting to breathe in the smoke, Lyon covered his nose and mouth with his cape. This gave me the opening I needed to escape.

By using Extreme Speed to dash away, I got us out of there safely and down the temple.

'Damn.' I thought while running. 'Guess Gray's not the only one with an inner darkness linked to Deliora. Good news about this though, I now know exactly where the Plate is.'
