Some of the melee and ranged weapons listed here are based on the Balkon's Weapons Mod, others come from the Mine and Blade: Battlegear II Mod. If you just got hit with a wave of nostalgia by me mentioning those two mods from simpler times, sorry, not sorry. Haha. Please, enjoy these variants of mine. Thanks.
-::Melee::-
These were Zombies, Skeletons, and Zombie Pigmen, or Piglins, who preferred close-ranged attacks. These are the variants listed below:
-:::Soldiers:::-
These aren't anything special to note here. Being equipped with swords, they were the frontline infantry of the different mobs. Not much to say here.
-:::Warriors:::-
Axes are known for ignoring armor, and Warriors who carry battleaxes can hit through the armor of different miners who come into combat with them.
-:::Brutes:::-
Carrying war hammers that required two hands to wield for winding up and then striking, the war hammer allows them to charge up before releasing a smashing blow.
-:::Knights:::-
Zombies, Skeletons, and Zombie Pigmen who carry a sword and shield together are known as 'knights'. Makes sense, right? With this combination, they're able to defend themselves with their shield, before attacking with their main weapon in their attacking arm.
-:::Pikemen:::-
This one is clear to you. They're mobs who wielded spears, who have the advantage of reach and thrusting power with enough force put into the pike.
-:::Guards:::-
For the sake of convivence, as the two weapons are pretty similar to one another, the ones who use spears are known as 'Pikemen' and these ones who wield halberds are known as 'Guards'. Typically, when you think of a guard, you think of them as wielding halberds. In this regard, the halberd type they have is a poleaxe. The halberd has two modes of attacking: spear mode and axe mode.
While spear mode causes knockback, axe mode does more damage. But like the spear above, they both have the advantage of reach, in addition to power with the axe head.
-:::Guard Captains:::-
Guard Captains wore heavy armor, having a juggernaut physique which makes them strong and able to break through the miners' block. They wield two-handed swords that allowed them to inflict greater damage onto hostiles and opponents.
-:::Dual Wielders:::-
Whether they wield a pair of dual swords, a pair of dual axes, a pair of dual maces, or even a pair of dual hammers, they attack fast and coordinate both weapons to swing one after the other. Not all at once, or attack with just one arm while ignoring the other arm.
And yeah, the name for this variant might not be creative, but it's better than any alternatives I came up with so far. I think the name is good, and that's all that matters.
-:::Tanks:::-
Given that maces can daze mobs, it's no surprise that Zombies, Skeletons and Zombie Pigmen who wield maces are called 'Tanks'. They hit hard, really hard, and that blunt force is enough to daze anyone.
-:::Berserkers:::-
Flails can be swung around to strike with a heavyweight head at the end of the chain, and has a retractable reach. I supposed they could also hit through shields, due to how heavy and hard the head of the flails can hit with enough wind-up force when swung.
-:::Skirmishers:::-
Equipped with a short sword and a set of throwing knives, they attacked up close with their weapon while throwing knives at a distance. So naming them 'Skirmishers' isn't a misnomer.
-:::Beastmaster:::-
These ones are usually flanked with a hostile animal companion who is deadly loyal to their masters, and they were also equipped with a curved sword to work alongside their companion. If you kill their animal pet, they'll fight twice as hard to kill the miner who killed their partner-in-crime.
-::Ranged::-
These were Zombies, Skeletons, and Zombie Pigmen, or Piglins, who preferred ranged attacks from a distance. And while Skeletons are known for wielding bow and arrows as their main weapon, the first variant applies to the Zombies and Zombie Pigmen, or Pigmen, as well. These are the ranged variants listed below:
-:::Archers:::-
Does this one need any explaining? As it was said before: This was the main weapon of the Skeletons, but bow and arrows apply to Zombies and Pigmen as well.
-:::Javelineers:::-
Javelins were spears that were designed for throwing, and they struck harder too, even if the range depended on how long it's charged for throwing in the air.
-:::Marksmen:::-
Crossbowmen are, historically, called 'Arbalists'. Like with the 'Archers' above: The crossbow is the main weapon of the Piglins above, but this weapon also applies to the Zombies and Skeletons too, Zombie Pigmen as well.
Yes, I consider the two different species. The Zombie Pigmen accept Rubies as their currency, if you want to write a fanfic where trading with them is possible, then you can use this idea.
-:::Arquebusiers:::-
'Arquebusiers' are sixteenth century Renaissance wheellock rifles that were slow to reload, but deadly when fired. Zombies, Skeletons, and Zombie Pigmen who wield these weapons act as a sniper from a far distance, taking aim at the miner whose distracted before opening fire.
-:::Bombardiers:::-
These were the Zombie, Skeleton, and Pigmen mobs who used bombs for throwing at the miners.
-:::Slingers:::-
Using slings as weapons and lead bullets as their ammunition for them, 'Slingers' are not to be taken lightly because of their bitingly sharp penetration.
-::Mounted::-
These were Zombies, Skeletons, and Zombie Pigmen, or Piglins, who preferred to attack while mounted on top of a creature. These are the ranged variants listed below:
-:::Cavalry:::-
Wielding either swords, axes, spears, maces, flails, or halberds, the Zombies/Skeletons/Pigmen who rode on zombie horses, skeletal horses, and zombie porquines were named after the soldiers who rode on horseback.
"Porquines" are hybrid pig-horse that were named after the 'porcine' and 'equine' families of both pigs and horses.
-:::Charioteers:::-
War chariots to be specific: one rides, and one attacks with a ranged weapon, like a bow and arrow, crossbow, javelin, sling, or arquebus. They're pulled by either zombie horses for the Zombies, skeletal horses for Skeletons, or even zombie porquines for Zombie Pigmen.
Relying on hit-and-run tactics on wheeled chariots.
-:::Mahouts:::-
Yep, Zombies, Skeletons, and Zombie Pigmen have war elephants now. Notch, Jeb, and the Mojang pantheon help you all.
In specific terms, the Zombies have zombie elephants, Skeletons have skeletal elephants, and Zombie Pigmen have 'Zombie Pachyswines', which was essentially a pig and elephant hybrid, except they're undead. There is another elephant from the Nether however, called the Gajasura, if you must know.
"Mahout" is the term for a war elephant rider.
-:::Dragon Riders:::-
And not the good kind from Berk or the Barbaric Archipelago. These ones ride zombie dragons, skeletal dragons, and nether dragons. No pig-dragon hybrid this time.
-::Magic::-
These were Zombies, Skeletons, and Zombie Pigmen, or Piglins, who preferred to use magical attacks through their attunement, faith, entropy, spells, summons, or otherwise. These are the magical variants listed below:
-:::Wizards:::-
These were inspired by Harry Potter, hence why they use wands to attack with magic.
-:::Mages:::-
Zombies/Skeletons/Zombie Pigmen who rely on casting magic from their hands alone.
-:::Summoners:::-
As their names imply, these Zombies/Skeletons/Zombie Pigmen call for reinforcements in the form of summoned monsters who do their masters' bidding through the use of cards.
You got any Yu-Gi-Oh! vibes from this? That's where I got the idea from, hence why they use cards to summon monsters for reinforcements.
-:::Magicians:::-
Written in these scrolls they use to cast their magic are incantations they recite, evidenced by soundblock notes for audio cues, and Enchantment Table runes for visual cues.
-:::Sorcerers:::-
Their staffs give them better control over casting their sorceries, such as firing bolts, flames and creating cube-shaped barriers to protect themselves.
-:::Spellcasters:::-
With their spellbooks, their spells include different effects like buffs, enchantments, or hinderances and traps they set.
-:::Benders:::-
They were inspired by Avatar: The Last Airbender, hence why they conjure earth, fire, water, and air to use for attacking different miners that come across them.
-:::Healers:::-
Using rods to heal themselves or others in their vicinity, the Medieval War Mod gave me this idea.
-:::Mancers:::-
There are several sub-types like Necromancers who use the undead, Pyromancers who use fire, Brontomancers who use lightning, Cryomancers who use ice, Hydromancers who use water, Geomancers who use earth, and Aeromancers who use wind, all to their bidding with the use of their staves.
-:::Cultists:::-
They cast their hexes through use of their athames that're attuned to their entropy, and could be found in the Abandoned Monastery sections of the Strongholds, where evil men once held rites to give tributes and sacrifices to their evil deity, or Herobrine in my imagination, who reigns over the Nether.
-:::Shamans:::-
Holiness is not always good, and light is not always good either. The light can scorch you. These Zombies/Skeletons/Zombie Pigmen are holy men of their own gods and their beliefs they follow, like that of Notch, Jeb, or the others of the Mojang pantheon.
They wield chimes to cast their miracles, as their faith is the source of their power.
-:::Enchanters:::-
These Zombies/Skeletons/Zombie Pigmen used their magic to enchant their comrades' weapons to cause more damage to the miners.
While the Illagers have their own, this variant is strictly for monsters like the Zombies, Skeletons and Zombie Pigmen.
This can also apply to Husks and Drowned, Strays and Bogged and Wither Skeletons, and Piglins too. Just want to point that out.
-:::Banner Wardens:::-
These Zombies/Skeletons/Zombie Pigmen rally and rile up their comrades to attack with more ferocious swings and harder hitting magic, wanting them to fight with greater ferocity like they're doomed to face their deaths again and make their last stands against their opponents.
The magic banners, which has steadfast enchantments woven into them, worn by these rallymasters is what gives them the power to rally and rile up their comrades.
-:::Drummers:::-
These Zombies/Skeletons/Zombie Pigmen attune their comrades' focus onto their targets and victims, as well as rile them up with buffs through rhythm and frequency.
-::Conclusion:::-
All these mob variants for the main three humanoid mobs were written by me a long time ago.
They were to be used as part of a medieval story based on the 'Dokucraft' texture pack.
That story was called "Minecraft: Order of the Stone", before Story Mode took that name for themselves.
Unlike Story Mode, the members of the four heroes, not five, four heroes were named Jason, John, Richter, and Ken.
Jason was based on the Minecraft Combat Manual, John was based on the Minecraft Essential Manual, Richter was based on the Minecraft Construction Manual, and Ken was based on the Minecraft Redstone Manual.
Hence, why they were known as "Jason, Master of Combat", "John, Master of Essentials", "Richter, Master of Construction", and "Ken, Master of Redstone".
All four of them wore capes based on the Minecraft Manual covers:
Red for combat with a golden sword, green for essentials with a golden pickaxe, blue for construction with a golden shovel, and orange for redstone with a golden redstone dust.
Each of them have black borders with a golden outline going all around.
Jason was the son of a hero who was destined to be the one to save Dokucraftia, John was a miner who had a dog he loved more than life itself, Richter was an architect who gave up his kingship of ruling Aquila City to avenge his people after Herobrine attacked the city, and Ken was a hooded man whose father, CNBMinecraft, was bedridden and cursed by Herobrine but was watched over by the Ender Dragon, who is a male in the fanfic, long before the dragon was revealed to be a female and was named Jean.
All of them were heroes who fought against Herobrine's dark forces. Herobrine's backstory was based on DanTDM's "Legend of Herobrine" video, NinjaCharlieT's "Lords of Darkness", and the duology "Gods Don't Bleed" and "Gods Don't Die" videos by dillongoo.
Herobrine was the main antagonist of the story, but there were other villains like a mad jester, a ghast queen, a fallen hero, a necromancer, a ghost pirate, and more.
There were five seasons in total: Season 1 was called "Herobrine Origins", Season 2 was called "Nether Island", Season 3 was called "Return of Herobrine", Season 4 was called "Curse of Herobrine" and Season 5 was called "Rise of Herobrine".
YouTubers like SkyDoesMinecraft, TheAtlanticCraft (Joe and Cody), etc. were rulers of their own respective kingdoms. DanTDM on the otherhand was presumed to have perished in the Nether by a Ghast and only the skeleton dog Grim survived, so Dr. Trayaurus was a supporting character to the Order of the Stone.
Minecraft: Order of the Stone was a story I thought of and drew back in Art Class during junior high. Now, as I grew older, it's something that was better off being a memory.
The Order of the Stone from Story Mode were to make an appearance in a episode chapter called "Order of the Imposters", where they were imposters, pretenders, charlatans, until they get put in their place by the real deal and then help save the day from Herobrine's forces. Jessie, Story Mode's main protagonist, was supposed to appear as a little kid as well.
It was conceptualized by me out of spite for Story Mode taking 'my' idea. I thought I was entitled to it. I was being a 'Fine Bros.', that's what I was acting like.
But no, being a 'Fine Bros.' means you have to trademark something you can't corner a market on, like reaction channels. You can't trademark reacting to things. I really don't know what the hell I was thinking back then, when Story Mode was popular back then. Back when Telltale Games was still around, before they went bankrupt.
Thanks for listening to me taking this trip down memory lane, and I hope you enjoyed these mob variants I created. Take care.
