The group began their trek to the Royal Palace, the dense forest gradually giving way to rolling hills and golden plains. Adam strode confidently at the front, occasionally glancing back to ensure everyone kept up.

"This way," Adam said, gesturing toward a narrow path that veered off from the main trail. "It's a shortcut. Faster and safer."

Duncan sighed, crossing his arms. "Your shortcuts tend to be neither, Adam."

"Have a little faith," Adam replied with a smirk, unfazed.

Adora quickened her pace, catching up to Adam. "So, is it always this lively between you two?" she asked, glancing over her shoulder at Duncan, who shook his head in resignation.

"Pretty much," Adam replied with a chuckle. "Duncan's like an extra parent sometimes. Overly cautious."

"Someone has to be," Duncan grumbled from behind, eliciting a small laugh from Teela.

As they continued along the path, Adam and Adora fell into an easy rhythm of conversation.

"You mentioned Etheria earlier," Adam began, his tone curious. "What's it like?"

Adora hesitated, unsure how to encapsulate her homeworld. "It's...beautiful and chaotic. For the longest time, it was controlled by the Horde, this massive intergalactic empire ruled by a tyrant named Horde Prime. My friends and I fought to free it, and now it's finally at peace."

Adam frowned, the name unfamiliar. "Horde Prime? I've never heard of him."

"I figured as much," Adora replied. "According to what we've learned, the First Ones—the ancient civilization that colonized Etheria—also colonized Eternia. They left behind technology and knowledge, but their war with Horde Prime ended in disaster. If any record of him existed here, it must've been erased."

Adam nodded slowly. "The First Ones... We don't call ourselves that, but there are old stories. Ruins and carvings show ships like the one you described, the one you and your friends arrived in. People have always suspected our ancestors once traveled to other worlds."

Adora's eyes lit up. "Then it's true. Eternia really is the homeworld of the First Ones."

"Maybe," Adam said with a thoughtful shrug. "It's hard to say. A thousand years have passed. A lot can change."

Adora smiled. "Yeah. But it's still incredible to think our worlds are connected."

They shared a quiet moment, each marveling at the sheer vastness of history. Despite the differences in their lives, a strange connection seemed to pulse between them, as though they'd known each other forever.

Trailing a few steps behind, Catra's heterochromic eyes narrowed as she watched Adora and Adam chatting animatedly. Her ears twitched in irritation at the sound of their easy banter, her tail flicking back and forth in agitation.

"Great," she muttered under her breath. "She's already acting like they're best friends."

She caught a faint scent from Adam—something strange yet oddly familiar. Her nose wrinkled as she tried to place it but came up empty. It only added to her growing unease.

What is it with him? she thought, her claws flexing instinctively. She muttered softly, "I don't trust him."

The words were barely audible, and she sighed heavily. Deep down, she knew Adora could handle herself. Catra's mind spun as she tried to push down the growing sense of unease. She couldn't afford to let herself get jealous. Adora had her own path to follow.Just trust her, she reminded herself. Don't be clingy. Don't let your emotions get the best of you.

But as the two of them continued talking ahead of her, Catra's frustration only deepened. Something about Adam was... off. She couldn't put her finger on it, but it was there, gnawing at the back of her mind.

Still, her gaze lingered on the two as they walked ahead, the faint hum of their voices blending with the rustle of the forest around them.

The path to Eternos gradually widened, the lush forest giving way to well-trodden roads that hinted at civilization just ahead. The Etherians exchanged curious glances as they drew nearer to the towering outer walls of the city.

Eternos loomed before them, its massive gates intricately carved with designs that seemed both ancient and advanced. At Duncan's signal, the guards stationed above pulled levers, causing the heavy gates to groan open.

"Welcome, to the city of Eternos." Duncan said as he held his arm out towards the entrance.

As the group stepped through, they were met with the vibrant chaos of the city. The streets teemed with life—merchants peddling their wares, children darting between stalls, and citizens bustling about their daily routines. Towering spires and domed buildings gleamed in the sunlight, the architecture a blend of elegance and ingenuity.

"This is... amazing," Bow said, his voice laced with awe.

"It really is bigger than Bright Moon," Glimmer muttered, though her tone carried reluctant admiration.

Adora barely heard them. Her eyes swept over the streets, taking in every detail—the bustling marketplaces, the sound of smiths hammering metal, the faint smell of exotic spices in the air. This place was alive, pulsing with energy in a way that Etheria's settlements never had been.

"Wait a second," Bow said, his voice sharp with realization. "Adora, look! All the writing—it's the same as on Etheria. That's First Ones text!"

Adora blinked, her attention snapping to the signs and carvings scattered across the city. Bow was right. The angular, geometric script was unmistakable, though here it was seamlessly integrated into daily life.

"It's not just the writing," Adora said softly. "This whole place...it feels connected to the First Ones somehow."

Teela frowned, looking between Adora and Bow. "You keep mentioning these First Ones. Who exactly were they?"

Adam turned to her. "I think... they were...us."

"What?" Teela responded in surprise.

Adora hesitated, unsure where to begin. "The First Ones were an advanced civilization—a people who traveled between worlds. They colonized Etheria, but their homeworld was Eternia. That's what brought us here in the first place."

The group exchanged uneasy glances. Glimmer crossed her arms, her brow furrowing. "So… this planet is their origin? Where they started before all the conquering and colonizing?"

Adam frowned thoughtfully. "If that's true, they're a part of our history too, but the First Ones as you describe them are not how we think of our ancestors. Our stories say they were explorers, dreamers who reached for the stars."

"Unfortunately, that is not the case. Our ancestors brought harm to thousands of worlds in the past, and it costed them dearly. After they abandoned space travel, their technology and knowledge faded. No one on Eternia has left the planet in generations—we don't even have the means to try anymore." Duncan said.

"They lost their way," Bow said, nodding slowly. "After retreating here, they probably stopped innovating, and their tech regressed. It's similar to what we've seen on Etheria."

Adora looked around, her gaze lingering on the busy streets and the carved inscriptions. "A thousand years of change… things have shifted so much.

"That's right, and we're not who we were back then, either." Adam claimed.

"I know a thousand years is a long time, but it doesn't mean people change that much." Catra stated, eyes narrowed.

"Catra..." Adora began.

"You... don't trust easily, do you?" Adam remarked with an uneasy smile.

Catra shrugged. "It's one of the many things I'm working on."

"Honestly? It's a wise policy. Trust is a risk, it has to be earned. Trust blindly and it could cost you." Teela admitted, making Catra smile a little in appreciation.

"But you can trust us! Really!" Orko insisted.

"Indeed. You've more than earned our trust when you defended us in battle against Skeletor's forces." Duncan added.

Teela nodded in agreement, her approval evident. Adam returned her smile, grateful for her acceptance of their newfound alliance.

The group continued their tour through the breathtaking city, taking in the remarkable architecture and the daily life of its citizens. They'd passed from bustling markets into residential districts, where children played on the streets and families gathered around fires to share meals.

Adora looked around again, her heart racing. These people...all of these people...are my people. My family... they must be somewhere here... Right?

She felt a hand slip into hers and turned to see Catra watching her with concern.

"Hey," Catra said quietly. "You okay?"

"I…" Adora tried to speak, but her throat tightened.

"It's a lot, isn't it?" Catra guessed

Adora nodded at her girlfriend. "Yeah, it is."

Adora gazed at the endless expanse of Eternian life. It felt both alien and familiar, all at once. Home and yet lost in a sea of faces she didn't recognize. It was a strange dichotomy that left her heart feeling heavy and hopeful all at the same time.

"I just-" She swallowed hard and let go of her friend's hand. "I never expected to find Eternia like this. There's so much... so many people here. I thought if I ever found my family, it would be a village secluded from the world-not a metropolis like this."

Catra's gaze lingered on her. "We'll find them, Adora. I promise. And if not..."

Adora frowned, her eyes betraying a fierce determination. "I'm not giving up. Not without a fight."

As the group continued on, Adam reddened slightly as yet another passerby stepped aside, bowing and murmuring, "Your Majesty." He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "You'd think they'd get tired of doing that," he muttered.

Teela smirked. "You're the prince of Eternia, Adam. Try not to look so bashful about it."

"Yeah, yeah," Adam said, visibly uncomfortable. "Doesn't mean it isn't weird every time."

The Etherians exchanged amused glances. Adora noted the way Adam's humility contrasted with the grandeur of his title, making her smile slightly.

The winding streets soon opened into a grand square, where the structure of the Royal Palace came into view. Adora's pulse quickened at the sight. Somewhere inside, answers to questions she didn't even know she had were waiting for her.

As they drew nearer, Adora was swept up in a tide of both anxiety and exhilaration.

Stepping into the palace grounds felt like stepping into a history book. The grandeur of Eternia's thousand-year-old lineage weighed heavily upon the space, an invisible monument to all that came before them.

The palace's outside looked a lot like the city around it, featuring a circular shape that resembled a giant dome, with parts that kind of looked like the spokes of a appeared to be signs of old architecture close to the palace entire complex exhibited a warm, orange tint reminiscent of terra cotta.

The entrance gate was twice the average person's height and fashioned from some mysterious red stone, replete with intricate symbols and signs. The group strode through the entrance, and the tall iron-wrought doors scraped slowly shut behind them, eliciting an ominous rumble as a heavy locking mechanism engaged, signifying their entrance into a world steeped in sacred traditions and secrets.

As Adora and her friends ventured further into the palace, they were astounded by its stunning architectural design.

The walls were intricately carved with symbols and texts depicting Eternia's rich history spanning thousands of years.

Adora couldn't help but feel awestruck by the sheer scale and elegance of the place. Her eyes wandered over the towering walls adorned with intricate tapestries and ornate carvings until they fell upon a large portrait hanging in one of the corridors.

She stopped in her tracks, her gaze locking on the image of a man with a striking resemblance to Adam. The resemblance was so uncanny that it sent a jolt through her.

"Who's that?" Adora asked, pointing to the painting.

Adam followed her gaze and smiled faintly. "That's King D'Vann Grayskull, the first ruler of Eternia's Royal Family. He's...well, he's my ancestor."

Adora blinked in surprise. "Grayskull? Did you say Grayskull?"

Teela nodded. "Yeah, why? Does that name mean something to you?"

"You bet it does." Catra stated.

"It's..." Adora hesitated, trying to process her thoughts. "It's part of the words I say to transform into She-Ra. 'For the honor of Grayskull.' And—Mara! Mara's squadron was called the Grayskull Unit!"

The group exchanged startled glances. "Mara?" Duncan asked, curious.

"She was the She-Ra who came before me," Adora explained. "She was a First One—a pilot and a warrior. She turned against them when she realized their plan to activate the Heart of Etheria would destroy the planet. To protect Etheria, she transported the whole world to the dimension of Despondos."

Adam raised an eyebrow. "A First One who rebelled to protect her world? Sounds like she had a lot in common with King Grayskull."

"Who was he?" Glimmer asked, her curiosity piqued.

"King Grayskull was a warrior and leader who defended Eternia against great evils," Teela explained. "Castle Grayskull, one of the most powerful places on Eternia, was once his home.

"It's said his spirit still watches over Eternia, guarding its secrets and its power." Orko added.

Bow stared at the portrait, the pieces beginning to fit together in his mind. "Do you think...could Mara have named her squadron after him? Maybe she felt the same way he did about protecting her world?"

"Maybe," Duncan said thoughtfully, stroking his chin. "Or it could be the other way around. If the First Ones came back to Eternia after being defeated by this 'Horde Prime,' maybe King Grayskull was named after Mara's unit as a way of honoring her stand against them."

The possibilities hung in the air, heavy with meaning.

"Either way," Adam said, stepping closer to the portrait, "it's clear that Grayskull is a connection between our worlds. Maybe it's why you're here, Adora. To uncover what it all means."

Adora nodded, her thoughts racing. This wasn't just about finding answers to her past—it was about understanding the legacy of the First Ones and the role she was meant to play. Whatever the truth was, she felt certain that Castle Grayskull held a part of it.

And as much as she wanted to venture there immediately, she knew she couldn't ignore the royal welcoming she and her friends were about to receive.

The group continued to walk through the grand halls of the Royal Palace, admiring the lavish decor before stopping before a massive set of doors.

"Beyond this door lies the throne room, where King Randor and Queen Marlena reside." Duncan paused, turning to face the group.

Teela stepped forward. "As a member of the royal court, I implore you to treat this experience with the respect it deserves. There may be certain dining habits, greetings, and cultural norms that will be unfamiliar, but I expect all of you to conduct yourselves accordingly." Her gaze lingered on Catra and Adora for a moment.

The two nodded in response, as did Bow and Glimmer, all acknowledging Teela's instruction.

With a final nod of his head, Duncan pushed open the imposing doors.

The group entered a space that was nothing short of awe-inspiring. It wasn't simply a throne room; it was the epicenter of Eternia's political power and history. The high vaulted ceiling bore elaborate frescoes of grand battles and valorous heroes, while walls adorned with resplendent tapestries told tales of unity, peace, and prosperity.

At the far end, elegantly placed upon a raised platform, sat the enthroned couple—King Randor and Queen Marlena, their regal presence commanding attention. As the Best Friends Squad entered, flanked by Duncan, Teela, Adam, and Orko, the air was thick with anticipation.

Adora stepped forward, her sword sheathed at her side but her posture radiating determination. She felt the weight of the King and Queen's gazes upon her, their expressions unreadable.

"Your Majesties," Duncan began, his voice steady, "we bring visitors from beyond Eternia. They claim to have come in peace."

Randor's eyes lingered on Adora. There was something familiar about her—something he couldn't place. Marlena, too, found herself drawn to the young woman, her heart inexplicably aching as though she'd rediscovered something precious she'd lost long ago.

Glimmer moved to the forefront of the gathering and performed a courteous bow.

"I am Queen Glimmer of Brightmoon, hailing from the planet Etheria," she introduced herself. "We appreciate your warm welcome into your home."

"I am King Randor of Eternia," Adam's father responded, advancing to greet Glimmer and shaking her hand. "Allow me to introduce my wife, Queen Marleena."

Marleena also extended her hand to Glimmer in greeting.

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Queen Glimmer," she said warmly.

Bow stepped forward. "I am Bow. I'm uh the... Queen's consort," he said with a blush, which made Glimmer blush as well "It's uh... nice to meet you both."

He quickly bowed his head.

Catra offered a small wave. "Hey. I'm Catra. Nice to meet you too... I guess."

Glimmer quickly teleported over and shoved Catra's head down with a nervous smile. "Sorry about her!" she said. "She's... never been a fan of authority figures. Especially not royal ones."

"Get off!" Catra spoke up in annoyance as she raised her head and lightly shoved Glimmer back. "I told you, I'm working on it."

Catra grumbled under her breath.

Randor hid a bemused smile before turning his attention to the young woman who had initially caught his eye. "And you are?"

Adora glanced nervously at the group standing beside her before stepping forward. "I'm Adora. I... I was told I was born on Eternia. I've come here to learn about my origins and about the First Ones. All I know is that I was taken from this planet as a baby."

Randor stiffened while Marlena gasped softly, her hand flying to her chest. "Taken...?" she whispered, her voice trembling.

Adora nodded, unaware of the storm of emotions her words had unleashed. "Yes. I don't know by whom or why, but I was raised on Etheria. I only recently learned that this is my birthplace."

Marlena's eyes started to glisten with unshed tears, something that did not go unnoticed by anyone.

"Mom? Are you ok?" Adam asked in concern.

Marlena took a deep breath, trying to compose herself as she looked at this grown young woman in front of her.

"I'm fine, Adam," Marlena managed to say, blinking back her tears and forcing a weak smile.

Randor remained where he was while Marlena approached Adora, as if in a trance, her gaze never leaving her.

"You said you were taken as a baby," Marlena said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Do you... remember anything? Any details at all?"

Adora shook her head, confused by the Queen's reaction. "No, but I've been told it was around twenty to twenty-one years ago."

Randor's face became pale as well. "Twenty years..." he murmured, exchanging a look with Marlena.

Everyone else in the room shared looks confusion and began to sense something strange in the air. Like, that there was more to this reunion then they first thought.

"Uh... what's going on?" Catra asked, slowly.

"I wish I knew..." Teela replied.

"I've never seen them like this..." Adam admitted.

Duncan's eyes started to widen a little as well. "Wait... Could it truly be...?"

"Dad? What's wrong? Do you know something?" Teela questioned, though it seemed the Man-at-Arms was hesitant to answer.

"Uh... does anyone else feel like something big's about to happen?" Orko inquired.

Cringer gulped. "Uh-huh..." he said before lowering himself and hiding his face behind his paws with a whimper.

Catching on to the Queen and King's reactions, Adora began to feel more than just curiosity. The words "you were taken as a baby" were lingering in her heart, creating butterflies she couldn't shake.

Marlena turned to her husband, tears streaming down her face. "Randor, it's her. It has to be her."

Adora's heart pounded. "What are you talking about?"

Randor stepped closer, his voice breaking as he spoke. "Twenty years ago, our infant daughter was stolen from us."

"What?!" Adam responded in shock. "You mean... I had...?"

"A sister. A twin sister." Randor confirmed. Almost everyone gasped in response.

"It is true, Adam." Duncan added.

"But... Why didn't you say anything?" Teela questioned in disbelief.

"Why didn't you two say anything?" Adam asked his parents, his voice raised and full of emotion.

"We believed it was it best that you never knew." Marleena explained. "We wanted to shield you from the sorrow that we have been bearing for so long."

"And along with swearing me to secrecy, they asked the Sorceress to remove all memory of Adora from the minds of the people." Duncan added.

"Sorceress?" Glimmer echoed in surprise and confusion.

"She's the mistress and guardian of the Secrets of Castle Grayskull, one of the most powerful beings on Eternia." Duncan explained before smiling fondly. "And my wife."

"She's also my mother." Teela added, surprising the Best Friends Squad.

"What uh... happened to her? My sister?" Adam asked his parents. He felt a mix of emotions swirling within him: shock, confusion, and a newfound sense of loss that was hard to put into words.

The room grew silent as King Randor and Queen Marlena exchanged a glance, the weight of unspoken memories hanging between them. Marlena took a steadying breath and began to speak, her voice soft yet laced with pain.

"It was a night much like any other," she said. "The twins were only a few months old. We'd just gotten them to sleep, finally able to rest ourselves after what felt like an eternity of sleepless nights. They were everything to us, our little miracles."

Randor continued, his voice rougher, the pain still fresh despite the years. "We had barely laid down when it happened. A sound unlike anything I've ever heard—it was like the castle itself was groaning in agony."

Marlena nodded, her gaze distant as the memory played out before her. "We rushed to the nursery, our hearts pounding. The door... it was blown clean off its hinges, and the room was bathed in this strange, pulsing purple light. The air was thick, heavy, like it was alive."

Adora's chest tightened as she listened, the description of the light and energy unsettlingly familiar.

"We could hear the babies crying," Marlena said, her voice trembling. "Our sweet, helpless little ones. We ran inside, but... it was chaos. Furniture overturned, blankets everywhere. And then we saw it."

Randor's hand clenched into a fist, his knuckles white. "A portal," he said, his words clipped. "A swirling vortex of purple light, crackling with energy. And in the center of it... our daughter. Suspended in mid-air, as though the portal itself was pulling her in."

Marlena's hand pressed against her heart, her voice breaking. "She was crying, reaching for us. I ran to her, but something—some force—knocked me back. I couldn't get close. I could only watch as she was drawn closer and closer to that... that thing."

Adora swallowed hard, a cold dread creeping over her.

"I tried to fight it," Randor said, his voice thick with emotion. "I tried everything I could, but the portal's pull was too strong. And then, in one final flash of light... she was gone. Just like that. No trace, no explanation. Just silence."

Marlena's eyes glistened with tears. "We searched for years. Used every resource, every connection, but we never found anything. No answers. No sign of her. All we had left was Adam... and the ache of knowing we had failed one of our children."

Adora's breath caught in her throat, her heart pounding as their story resonated deeply within her. The way they spoke, the grief etched into every word—it wasn't just a story. It was her story.

Randor's gaze softened, filled with a cautious hope that made Adora's chest tighten. "And now... seeing you, hearing what you've been through, we can't help but wonder—"

Adam suddenly looks at Adora, his eyes narrowing slightly as the pieces start to click. "Wait a minute..." His voice falters, and he stares at her more intently. "You mean you're my...?"

Adora looks back at him, her breath catching. She doesn't finish his sentence; the weight of the realization hits her like a tidal wave.

She turned to Marlena, who reached out hesitantly, her hand brushing against Adora's cheek. The touch was so gentle, so warm, that it nearly broke her.

The simple touch breaks Adora's composure. A single word escapes her lips in a choked whisper: "Mom?"

Marlena's tears spill over as she wrapped her arms around Adora in an instant, pulling her into an embrace that felt both foreign and achingly familiar.

"My daughter..." she whispered, her voice trembling with joy and sorrow.

Adora slowly embraced the other person, her tears streaming freely as a surge of emotion overwhelmed her.

Randor steps forward hesitantly, his gaze locked on Adora. They share a moment of tearful recognition before he too pulls her into an embrace.

Adora, overwhelmed, sobs quietly as Marlena and Randor hold her tightly.

As they sank to the floor together, Adora extended her hand to Adam, who stood frozen in shock. He hesitated only a moment before she pulled him into the embrace as well.

Around them, the room blurred with emotion. Teela and Duncan held each other close as they watched the scene unfold with moist eyes, Glimmer wiped at her tears with trembling hands while Bow openly sobbed alongside Orko and Cringer.

Meanwhile, Catra lingered at a distance, her arms crossed and ears lowered. Her tail flicked, betraying her conflicted emotions. She was happy for Adora but couldn't help feeling left out and uncertain about her place in Adora's new family.

Ultimately, she forced a small smile and stepped closer, just enough to be near Adora, silently offering her support.

Despite the whirlwind of feelings, one thought anchored Adora: after years of wondering where she came from and if she had a family, she had finally found the answers she had been searching for and already felt lighter because of it.
