FFN Death Fury: Excellent chapter

Response: Thanks, I always appreciate it.

FFN shirkahn: Nice update. And Setsuna's plan really was tamer than I thought. Eager to see the next chapter.

Response: Referencing Midnight as any sort of inspiration for something tends to have that effect on people. If you liked what Setsuna did then just wait till you see what comes next.

IZUKU MIDORIYA POV

Surrounded by enemies I stood shoulder to shoulder with Tetsu and Kendo as we were at the forefront of the pack with my only friend who transferred from 1-A to 1-B with me at my back. Even so I saw no reason to worry for once in my life as I had my classmates, my friends by my side. Giving a subtle nod to Tetsu and Kendo after locking eyes with each of them by means of a sideways glance getting nods and smiles from both of them. "All right everyone… let show them that we are heroes, NOT THEIR PREY!" I told everyone as we ran into the fight before us in groups.

UA TRAINING GROUND ALPHA

DAMAGED BUILDING

THIRD PERSON POV

NINTH FLOOR

Just before Itsuka Kendo could open the door to the eighth floor, she was interrupted by a screaming severed head.

"DON'T GO DOWN THERE!" Setsuna yelled as her head was pressed against the window, with red lines on her face like it was pressed against a vent opening.

"What are you talking about?" Kendo asked her, wondering why she was pressed against the window and not going through the open vents they left for her on this floor. With her lungs being kept separate on the upper floors, they were able to completely seal her head off from the bottom of the neck, and her mouth leaving only her nose exposed. So, she should have been alright with the minimal exposure and her naturally strong immune system due to her partial reptilian DNA.

"They broke a window and spotted me in the vents, I just barely managed to get my arms and head away from Midoriya." Setsuna responded, causing her to remember her narrow escape. She had to break the other window herself with a big chunk of concrete she hid in a corner just in case she needed it to take them down. While doing that she had to press her face against the loosely connected vent to pop it off. Izuku smiling when he made eye contact with her in the vent was enough of a signal to get out before he could capture her as he was recovering quickly.

This news made Kendo think as she opened the window to let Setsuna in before she decided on what to do about the situation. "How many of them did our trap take down so far?" She asked her teammate hoping that the answer would be half of them.

"... Two of them, we took out two of them." Setsuna said with clear disappointment in the results of all the planning they did.

This was far from the news Kendo was hoping for, even assuming a minimum number of two or three people would be left behind to guard the entrance. The result would still mean they have five or six people to fight their way through, not too bad given they also have four fighters on their side. Well in terms of actual combat, they only really have three since Tetsutetsu got taken out already and was supposed to be the tank for their stronger fighters.

"Alright, let's retreat to the tenth floor for now. But first we need to set up some basic traps to buy us more time." Kendo told the lizard girl who now looked confused as to what the martial artist meant.

EIGHTH FLOOR

Quickly stretching his arms and legs, rolling his shoulders, and rotating his waist, Izuku was now ready to move with Yanagi laid against the wall. Before he could go up his back up had interrupted him, placing a hand on his shoulder panting as they just barely made it when running after him.

"Seriously man, how about saving some ass kicking for us?" Kamakiri said grinning as he was panting hard from trying to catch up with them. Hearing more footsteps behind them, both boys turned around to see the others coming.

Awase and Hagakure caught up with only her footprints being able to barely be seen as she ran alongside him. "He's right Midoriya, wait up for us to help you." She told him as she and Awase came to a stop right before him.

Looking between them all Izuku let out a chuckle as he rubbed the back of his still sore head. "All right, all right, I won't do anything stupid like trying to fight them by myself so no need to lecture me." Izuku told them, not knowing he was going to be lectured later by his teachers for clearly attempting just that a moment ago. His classmates on the other hand looked at each other wearily knowing full well he was definitely going to attempt to do so before they arrived.

OBSERVATION ROOM

As three people in the room just witnessed, very few if any plans survive first contact with the enemy made they are intended for. That being said, the sight of Izuku breaking the glass helmet made them all wince, as the three-strike combo he did was devastating. What came after the empathetic pain in their throats was a slightly sobering feeling from knowing it was the end for Tetsutetsu.

"The idea to have a communication system was good, but they neglected to think it through enough." Vlad King said, shaking his head in shame at the sight before, feeling bad for the talk to come after the exercise.

"They came up with it on the assumption that if need be, Tetsutetsu could hold out on his own for a few minutes with ease, underestimating their opponents." All Might responded to finish what his fellow teacher said, making it clear to the third person there.

All three however were greatly impressed with how Yanagi managed to push herself to make her final attack count as much as possible. Rather than trying to protect herself from Setsuna, she chose to sacrifice herself to help Izuku move forward to accomplish the greater goal of the team. What happened next gave all three of them a bad feeling, and it was one that was just narrowly relieved in time.

Was it due to the sight of the panicked and swiftly retreating Setsuna Tokage? No, that was quite frankly expected. Was it the lack of restraint for property damage done by the hero team? No, the damage they did was indeed truly minimal given the danger of the spores in the air of the closed space. Was it the state of Yui Kodai from the hero team and the two students playing the victims? No, well no for two of three as the third would need to be removed by the villain team if they did not open the window when they did on the ninth floor.

It was the fact that Izuku, despite literally just recovering, was intent on rushing ahead by himself. Luckily for them, the others stopped him just in time, however the second to last obstacle lay ahead of them in the form of makeshift traps. With the final fight of the two main threats of Kendo and Monoma to take them down with some light back up from Komori.

"You can do it… Hagakure." They said catching the attention of both teachers as this was the first time that they spoke up since they first entered and were asked why they were there.

NINTH FLOOR

Kamakiri took the front of the line due to Izuku getting hit with the villain team's spore attack earlier. That meant for the future number one hero, he was relegated to the third spot with Hagakure behind him and Awase in front of him. Though not as good as Izuku or Kamakiri in terms of combat, Awase was still far better than Hagakure who was more specialized in stealth or strategy. Also, they all made sure to wear their makeshift face masks to be safe till they could open a window.

Luckily the floor was already ventilated, this raised.

At a first glance it was clear the ninth floor was far more intact compared to the with floor and below due to the number of rooms still standing. As almost all of the walls dividing the rooms on the previous floors were almost completely torn down and flattened when they started. This meant that the tenth floor will likely have more obstacles and sneak attack opportunities for the villain team.

With a raise of his arm, Kamakiri had silently told them all to stop as he turned slightly to show them what he was pointing to while smirking. On the floor was what looked like a small can of oil purposely spilled on the floor with a small piece of clear cloth in front of the spot showing there was no oil underneath. It was right in front of the small room it was placed in front of.

None of them thinking too much about it also smiled as they thought how none of them would be dumb enough to fall for it. But the small room also seemed ideal for a trap victim, or rather someone pretending to be one to hide. So, they had no choice but to go in and check it.

"I will crouch down when I open the door, so keep your eyes on the other end of the hallway in case someone tries to rush or sneak up on me." Kamakiri told Awase who nodded with a purposely silly and incorrect sailor salute.

However, as he brought his second foot over the oil spot and onto the cloth, the ground broke underneath him suddenly without any warning. "SHIT!" Kamakiri exclaimed as he fell through, getting stuck at his thigh height, getting wedged in between the floors.

"WHAT THE FUCK!?" Awase said with his usual cursing, though much less angry and more confused than anything else. No matter how you looked at it, there was no way for the other team to drill through it so quickly without alerting them via noise, except for… "DAMN IT MONOMA! YOU FUCKING COPYCATTING PIECE OF SHIT!" He exclaimed now angry as his knowledge of tools allowed him to realize what happened.

"Awase calm down!" Hagakure told him, knowing they should not panic over this.

"Hagakure is right, you need to tell us what you mean by Monoma." Izuku said to him, placing a hand on his shoulder and giving a light squeeze to get him to focus on them.

"Sorry you two, it's just that it pisses me off that they managed to do this without me or Kaibara to help them. What they basically did was have Monoma copy the solid air quirk to solidify air into a makeshift sharp drill or a stake. Then they probably got Kendo to use her hands to spin it at the top, essentially drilling and breaking up the ground beneath till they felt the tip just pierce through." Awase told them, explaining as best as he could for them.

"But wouldn't we have seen an obvious hole under the white fabric. Also, how could they be strong enough to do so this quickly?" Hagakure asked, unsure if it was possible to miss it.

"No, it isn't, the building was already damaged from a previous class, so it could be possible especially with her strength. If they had carefully placed back any dust or pieces then it would have been just enough to hold his weight up with one foot. And the cloth was thick enough we would not see any of the cracks, just the general colors underneath. Unless we went out of our way to move it then we would have never noticed it, and the time limit forced us to try and speed through as fast as possible." Izuku said, muttering away as usual, in an also as usual amazed tone, at the trap their classmates managed to set.

"I know you really like seeing people use quirks in unique ways, but maybe you could appreciate this AFTER you get me out?" Kamakiri said managing to mostly hold back his frustration so as not to yell at Izuku unfairly. Also to avoid the wrath of Ibara and Kendo for swearing at Midoriya himself rather than just swearing near him.

"SORRY! SORRY!" Izuku said panickily as he bowed his head repeatedly while Awase looked over Kamakiri.

"I got kind of good news and definitely bad news, which one do you prefer to hear first?" Awase asked Kamakiri knowing he would not like the bad news, granted the good news was barely any better than the bad news.

"I doubt I will like either one, so give me whatever one you prefer first." Kamakiri said begrudgingly, remembering to pay Monoma back later due to this trap only he could have made.

"Okay so the first news is that I can get you free, though not easily. As for the bad news… I have to at the very least sprain your ankle to get you free, if not then I need to cleanly break it." Awase said waiting to be yelled at and having his plan being called stupid. But to his surprise…

"I understand, in that case I would prefer a clean break so I could still help carry the last person back down to safety." Kamakiri said nonchalantly, as he was not afraid to take a good bit of pain if they won the exercise. Luckily for them however, Hagakure had a better idea thanks to her being observant of her classmates.

"What if we wedge two of Kamakiri blades on the outside of the hole and have Midori use a little bit of his quirk to put extra pressure on them. He is already plenty strong without his quirk so it should be enough. That way when he pulls them apart, Awase just needs to pull Kamakiri back as Midori does his part." Hagakure said as she noticed the dumbfounded looks from the others. "What's the matter?" She asked them unsure as to why they were staring.

"... Sorry but we just realized that you seem to be naturally overlooked and underestimated." Kamakiri said dumbfounded, unsure of how else to put it in a way that does not offend her.

"... WILL YOU STOPPING GAWKING LIKE I DID SOMETHING ABNORMAL AND JUST GET IT OVER WITH ALREADY!" Hagakure yelled at them in embarrassment, feeling lucky none could currently see her, what would probably be a bright red face.

Doing what she said, they got to work and as she suspected they managed to free Kamakiri without hurting his legs. Granted they now had to be careful of the big hole in the floor, but other than that they could move forward.

"Alright everyone let's get back to it, we are starting to run low on time." Kamakiri said getting everyone back on track as they get back into formation. The room he was going to check that got him caught in the trap, ended up empty making Kamakiri want to punch Monoma even harder.

Going forward they checked more rooms, with each step and opening of a door done with maximum caution after that first try. It was when they were nearly done that they found the person they were looking for… well the person everyone else was looking for. Kamakiri was hoping more to find Monoma first, something that would cause them to pray for the blond copycat's safety despite being on different teams.

It took them several trap evasions to do so, but they finally managed to find and reach Kosei Tsuburaba. Waking him up he was groggy and confused, attempting to respond but failing each time.

"We need to get him out of here, Hagakure you do it and we will go in to finish it. That being said, make sure to send everyone left who can fight up to us just in case." Izuku told her, taking up the leadership role as he has slowly become more confident in doing so.

"... okay." Hagakure said with some hesitation to agree to his order, but doing so nonetheless, deciding to trust in her teammates.

Reaching the staircase to the tenth floor everyone checked themselves once over quickly before going in with a different formation. At the front was Izuku with Awase behind him, both holding makeshift riot shields so as to cover Kamakiri who was behind them. The shields themselves are made using Awase quirk by combining three metal doors. Two doors put together then a third door put in the middle of the two.

Getting a bad stinging feeling as he got closer to the door, Izuku looked back to nod to his teammates. "One, Two, Three!" Izuku softly said the first two with a yell for the three, knowing that the yell before opening the door will get them to use any long-range attacks before opening it.

His idea worked and quite well, as when he halfway opened the door pretending to swing it open, it was then slammed shut. This was done by Setsuna and Monoma hands holding big pieces of concrete in both hands along with Kendo throwing two pieces herself as well to help.

The plan of attack was a success as Izuku and Awase covered the door entrance while Kamakiri pulled out his blades. Growing them to be deliberately dulled he threw them, aiming first for Monoma as he was the second easiest to hit but the third most dangerous of the four.

Successfully taking Monoma down to the ground as the blades got a shallow cut on his shoulder and the other on his forehead. Sending the blond tumbling back into the room behind him, knocking him out before he could even get back to cover.

"SETSUNA! Retreat to the left, I will retreat right." Kendo accidentally yelled her name, suspiciously forgetting or choosing not to mention Komori. The group of four did not expect them to strike so fiercely or so fast, let alone predict the ambush right at the door given the other spaces to hide on the floor. So now they had no choice but to buy time, however there was a chance some reinforcements could get here in time to help the three already here to catch them.

Following orders as she saw Kendo disappear down the hallway with the sound of a door opening and closing the lizard-like girl did as she was told. Quickly retreating she began to get ready to attack them from behind if they went after Kendo.

However, when they did chase after Kendo, Setsuna was unable to do anything as Awase was speed walking along with Kamakiri and Izuku… with his back turned. In other words, they were making sure to not go too fast so he could keep up with them while walking backwards.

A moment passed and Setsuna decided she needed to rush them, blocking as much of their vision as she could. Her flurry of punches, kicks, headbutts, and amusing for her as she saw Izuku face, as she also made sure to use her chest specifically for him. Izuku however, shouted alerting his teammates to her attack before she even was noticed by Awase, shocking her. Her attack accomplished what she intended, so even if she failed, they could still win.
