I've always felt like Aang's firebending training was rushed and cut too short. We also don't get any of the inner turmoil Zuko must be going through with leaving everything behind, so this is my retelling of the second half of season 3.

Azula's life is upended when Azulon orders Ozai to kill her as punishment for what he said about Iroh. With no other choice she runs away, and finds herself on a ship where she meets a certain group of water tribesman from the Southern Water tribe...

After the events of the show have concluded Azula ends up in a terrible state and needs unwanted help.
