On one Saturday, Special Clouds School was hosting a school fair to raise money to improve their school to help the students learn and enjoy their lessons even more. The fair took place on the school fields and what a great fair it was. There was a bouncy castle, there was a face paint area, there were some arcades to shoot targets and win prize targets with stuffed toys among them, there was a ferris wheel and there were food and drink vans that served tea, coffee, hot dogs, burgers, fries, candy floss and ice cream among them. There were plenty of people who came and they all had a great time.
Roxanne was a volunteer at the school fair and her job was helping the bouncy castle staff by making sure the children who went into the bouncy castle were okay and they wouldn't hurt themselves or each other, intentionally or unintentionally, such as falling out of it themselves or knocking anyone out of it.
Max was also a volunteer at the school fair and he was a security volunteer and made sure everyone at the fair was safe and sound and there was no danger at the fair.
As for Jimmy, Alice and Diane, they were having fun at the school fair. Despite being six years old, Jimmy was in charge of looking after his sisters because Max and Roxanne trusted him enough to make sure they all had a good time and they stayed out of trouble while they did their volunteering jobs for the fair. They also trusted him with the money they gave to him to pay for food and fun experiences. Also joining the kids was Jimmy's best friend Lucy. It was the last time she could spend time with Jimmy before the orphanage would close in a week and either George Lawton would come to adopt her or she would have to move to a new orphanage, so Roxanne told Jimmy to try and make it a great day both for him and for Lucy instead of dwelling on her having to leave.
Both Max and Roxanne would check on the kids and they were all happy with how much they were all enjoying, especially Alice because they had no expectations at all that she would enjoy this fair. They were all glad that they were behaving themselves very well and they were very proud of Jimmy for looking after his disabled sisters and best friend.
By five o'clock in the evening, the school fair finished. The day had been a complete success. There wasn't a crumb of food or a drop of drink left, a lot of kids had their faces painted, a lot of kids enjoyed the bouncy castle, a lot of people rode the Ferris wheel and there was no bad behavior at all and no one hurt themselves and the fair raised a lot of money for Special Clouds School. In fact, they raised more money than anyone would expect.
Max and Roxanne were very pleased with their own success and each other's success and they were very proud of the kids for behaving very well around the fair while having fun and they were especially proud of Jimmy for looking after his sisters and Lucy. They told the kids to meet by Max's car at five o'clock when it was time to go home but when they got there, they weren't there at all.
"Could they be going to the toilet before they get here?" Roxanne asked.
"Hmm, they could be," Max agreed.
"HELP! HELP!"
Max and Roxanne ran to answer those cries for help. Those cries made them ran back outside to the school entrance and they were shocked to find Lucy all by herself and she was lying on the ground and out of her wheelchair, which was flipped. Roxanne helped Lucy up while Max sorted out the wheelchair.
"Are you all right, Lucy?" Roxanne asked, as she put her back in her wheelchair.
"They took them!" Lucy cried. "They took Jimmy, Alice and Diane!"
That shocked Max and Roxanne. The three kids went missing… again.
"Lucy, take a deep breath and explain everything what happened to you and our kids," Max said.
Lucy explained that she and Jimmy and his sisters were heading to Max's car for five o'clock like they were told to do. But then two figures arrived in front of them. They were wearing black clothing all over their bodies, including hoods and face masks so Lucy couldn't see what their faces looked like. Then they said that the kids had to go with them. The kids tried to run away from them to go and find Max or Roxanne or other security volunteers, but the figures arrived and caught them. They seemed only interested in Jimmy, Alice and Diane. They didn't seem to want Lucy at all. They knocked her down while they kidnapped the kids and ran off. She showed Max and Roxanne the direction they went by pointing to it.
"I'm so sorry I couldn't stop them, Mr. Goof, Miss Roxanne," Lucy said.
"It's all right, Lucy," Max said. "You told us what happened and pointed to where they went and that's very helpful to us."
Then Max and Roxanne saw Principal Samson, who was locking the school up. They went to her and explained everything about their kids and their kidnappers and asked her to give Lucy a ride back to the orphanage so they could go and find their kids. Principal Samson said she would sort Lucy at and wished Max and Roxanne the best of luck to find their kids. Max and Roxanne thanked her, went into Max's car and drove off to the direction that Lucy told them the kids and the kidnappers went.
It had been two hours since Max and Roxanne learned that their kids went missing. Max had been driving around Forksville while Roxanne had been looking through the window while calling Max's family and their friends on her mobile phone in case they spotted them.
Then suddenly Max stopped the car.
Roxanne saw that they had parked in front of Forksville Marina. "Why have we stopped here, Max?" she asked.
"Because we found our kids," he replied.
Roxanne looked through Max's window and sure that he was right. She saw Jimmy, Diane and Alice in the marina and they were being carried by two hooded figures that Lucy perfectly described. The kids tried their very hardest to break free from their kidnappers and call for help, but they kept on failing.
"Come on, Roxanne," Max said. "Let's go and rescue our kids."
"But, but, but, Max –"
But Max went off before Roxanne could finish so she had no choice but to follow him.
