A/N Kenn, what you're describing is the actual culture, which is different from the culture depicted on the shows. In the actual episode, Buffy's behavior was more in line with modern cultural expectations of how a girl of her 'station' would act in that time period. Which is why I've included the common language aspect, even though they spoke English on the show, because of the modern cultural expectations and combined it with the culture of the show. I think it fits what we saw on the episode itself. 😃

Autolycus/Xander and Queen Cordelia all spotted three men in armor at the same time.

'That's them!' Xander reported. 'The one with grey hair over his ears is Mason, my foster father.'

'That is armor they're wearing, right?' Autolycus clarified. 'Different from what I'm used to seeing, but it definitely looks like it can protect them.'

'Yes, hot and uncomfortable, but it can protect from most weapons and definitely can protect you from a demon's claws.'

"Xander! Thank God you're alright!" A relieved Mason yelled when he caught sight of him. "I was afraid you were caught up in this mess!"

"Unfortunately we are." Autolycus told him. "Autolycus, King of Thieves and Queen Cordelia of the Amazon's, at your service. Xander's here too, by the way, but Cordelia and Queen Cordelia seem to be fused into one being, mentally Queen Cordelia, physically Cordelia."

"Oh, please tell me you're joking." Mason moaned as Queen Cordelia burst into a spate of Ancient Greek. "Oh crap. The others?"

"Faith and Xena are getting along well." Autolycus reported. "Unfortunately, Xena seems to be in control of the body, which is Faith's, same with myself and Xander. Jesse's body has transformed into an actual centaur and Ceridian, the centaur, is also in control, but he reported Jesse is able to speak to him."

"Where are they?"

"Looking for Faith's Guardian Diana, in the hopes that she can track the Magic that caused this. The kids all believe someone named Ethan Rayne is responsible."

"From what I know about him, I'd have to agree. He's done it before." Remembering Xander's knowledge from the other timeline. "But the kid's all got their costumes from Los Angeles. Cordelia had them made up for everyone and there's only one costume shop in town and we thought we checked it pretty thoroughly. Something seems to have changed or Rayne found another way to pull his stunt. Regardless, Diana will call us as soon as she gets a location and we'll deal with him. We've managed to catch and subdue quiet a few transformed kids. The hero ones are watching over the unconscious monster ones, along with Sam. We put them all in one house. Once we get this mess fixed, we'll get them back to the school and their parents."

"How are you speaking English?" Aaron asked curiously. "Especially since she doesn't seem to be able to speak English."

"I'm not sure." Autolycus admitted. "I don't know why it seems familiar to me. Xander has told me a few things that he knows about me, but he hasn't speculated on why we can understand each other."

Mason glanced at the other two men and gave a slight shake of his head. The men got the message, don't tell him he's a fictional character made real who understood English because his character spoke it. Why risk upsetting him unnecessarily? As for Queen Cordelia speaking Greek, they presumed, probably because the legends surrounding the Amazon's were something the Magic could grasp onto. It probably explained why the others could communicate with Queen Cordelia as well, the Magic finding them to have a common 'origin', the tv show, with an implied Ancient Greece. Magic answered to the spoken and the unspoken as well.

"Well, see if she'll help us gather up more kids." Mason told Autolycus. "We need to keep them as safe as we can until this is fixed."

Autolycus spoke to Queen Cordelia, who readily agreed to help. They moved from block to block gathering children into the back of Mason's slow driving truck and when the truck bed was full, he drove to the safe house and with Sam's help and moved the kids inside before returning for more. They'd made three trips when Diana called, the Magic originated at the Party Town costume shop.

"Destroy the focus and the effect will end." She told Mason. "I'll meet you at the High School and try to valuate the children as you bring them in. Stop at my place and grab the powder I'm leaving on the table. Hit whoever's responsible for this with it, it'll put them to sleep until they can be transported out of here and dealt with. If it's Ethan Rayne, he does these stunts because he worships certain gods. He can do that without his Magic."

"No problem, see you in a bit."

'Climb into the back.' Xander told Autolycus. "Tell Queen Cordelia to get in front next to Mason. Don't worry, you saw how they work earlier and Mason's a good driver. We'll get there in a matter of minutes.'

'Xena said we'd been displaced in time as well as location. Transportation methods have changed I guess, oh well, I haven't seen anything that'll bite me yet." Autolycus and Queen Cordelia cautiously climbed into the truck as the two other men joined Autolycus/Xander in the back, all of them ready for this night to be done.
