"But Bert doesn't like loud noises, they can get really upset" Babs whinged as he checked again, worried now that the poor little lizard might die from the shock and horror of fireworks.
"Actually… turning the TV up loud with something he like to watch might be a good idea. Close the curtains and let him watch his telly" Walter offered as a suggestion and Ianto blinked slowly as Babbit swivelled on his heel to look at his brother.
"Actually… that is not a bad idea brother of mine" Babs finally said softly.
"And Tonny doesn't like the loud noises either so he could come into the office and watch in the old armchair too" Fen agreed. "Bert can feel useful watching over him."
"I never knew this parenting thing would be so damned hard. No one told me how much it can age you" Bab sighed softly shaking his head as he reached into the tank to stroke the back of the lizard who blinked slowly "Awwww, look. He likes that idea. Mumma will sort that for ya mate."
Everyone was getting used to him calling himself Mama and really, I don't think anyone really saw a problem with it. He had been Mama to many pets here and there and Berty clearly liked his 'Mama' if slow blinks and occasional tongue flicking is anything to go by.
Ianto was still trying to sort out tanks and equipment, the on-line purchase racking up but now he could see the funny side of things, especially the fact Jonh had no clue in what one even needed but got one on a whim for their mental child. But hey… it's just the one little lizard barely the size of banana. What harm can it possibly do? Well… if Ianto heard Jack say that with his huge shit eating grin one more time he might bottle him and if the web sites were anything to go by… that little one could grow to be a bit of a monster.
Still… in this family does it really matter?
All wild beasties are grown free-range here I guess.
Ianto settled back to ponder the family and their life. All of them mad in their own way and at the same time, fitting so nicely together. With Lisa he would not have not had all of this and as much as he would never admit it to anyone… this was the life he knew he was always destined to have.
And he loved every minute of it.
