Cards & Debt

Okay, not much to say, so other than a slight mention of how I haven't really taken advantage of the way I'm writing this story. I don't own type-moon or any of their works, I only own Alexander... and I guess the characterization of Avenger... anyways here's the chapter.

Louvre's Castle, Norway Saturday October 29th 2000

Louvre looking out onto the calm waters of the lake he perished in long ago, takes a moment to enjoy how far he has come, as he often does when in his lair. When a young-looking man with black hair and red eyes enters the room.

"Has something come up?" Louvre asks not expecting the sudden interruption. The black-haired man nodding says "Pardon my intrusion, but it would seem that Barthomeloi Lorelei, has entered the area surrounding us."

A smile splitting across his face at the news he says "Very well, we possess a great opportunity to prepare, as I doubt even she could find let alone bypass the bounded field in such a short amount of time." turning to the other man in the room he says "Send a message to the coven in a week's time we shall be killing the Queen of the Clock Tower. After you and your sister look through the treasury for whatever you wish."

"I shall see to it Father." Louvre says answering his father, making to turn around before stopping and saying "One other thing, she has another mage with her." the older Louvre caught off guard turns to his son and asks "She brought along another Magus?"

Nodding the son says "Indeed, I believe he is the same one whom killed Elias" the older Louvre shaking his head says "That is not an explanation on why she would act so out of character, she has never brought back up on anything less than an Ancestor. Why would I warrant her bringing this mage."

"I do not know father, should I worry about this magus?" he asks causing his father to shake his head. "No need, if Barthomeloi hasn't gotten rid of him by the time the rest of the coven arrives, then they can deal with him."

"Understood." the younger Louvre says turning around to send off the summons for the remaining coven. Louvre taking a moment to look out over the lake once again, breaks his gaze from the water, and starts heading through the maze of hallways of his castle, till eventually. He arrives at his most secure vault.

Taking a bit of time to open the vault, he takes a few moments to admire the craftsmanship of the gleaming mace, which is the sole item within the vault. Before grabbing it not wanting to be caught without it in case Barthomeloi somehow manages to break through the bounded field before he is ready.

Walking back to his grandiose office, Louvre, lightly resting a hand on his mace. Watches out the window, out to the walls of his castle seeing his children standing on top the walls, weapons recently taken from the main treasury in hand. Addressing the coven currently here on what's to come.

Looking out farther past the clear waters of the lake. Louvre could see, with some Mage-craft, Barthomeloi standing on the shore looking out over the lake, as the Magus accompanying her kneels down and places a hand onto the floor.

Louvre stepping back in shock as he feels, something ripping through his bounded field tearing a hole in the illusion hiding his castle from sight, with him barley noticing his Children rushing out towards the two mages, as Lorelei lifts her riding crop and with a swing sends out a blade of wind that shears through what remained of the bounded field, the wall, and the coven waiting for the order to fight.

"What?!" he shouts, completely shocked by what happened as he sees both Barthomeloi and the magus with her avoiding the hole that appeared under them, and watches as his children starts to engage the two of them.

Rushing to where he has planned to face Barthomeloi, knowing should his children survive, they would lead her there. And as he rushes through the maze-like halls of his ruined lair, Louvre barley avoids the form of a youngish looking women with black hair, and red eyes.

"Father!" the female Louvre shouts in surprise. "What are you doing here where's your brother?" Louvre asks attempting to get a handle on the spiraling situation. Shaking her head, she says "Last I saw he led Lorelei off... I'm sorry father but the magus accompanying her got away from me."

Louvre taking a moment to shake his head asks "How did he elude you?" the female Louvre gritting her teeth says "He's quite proficient with primordial runes, after a dirty trick he ran... and I cannot sense him anywhere."

"Did you say he could use Primordial runes?" Louvre demands shocked nodding the female Louvre says "He used Ansuz, and Isa multiple times during our brief exchange." taking a moment to recenter himself, the older Louvre says "We cannot risk this mage somehow assisting Lorelei in defeating us. Find your brother and hunt this mage down, I shall deal with Lorelei till you're finished with him."

Nodding Louvre hefts up her spear and says "I shall try to make it short." nodding Louvre says "Do so." he says before separating from his daughter in order to find Barthomeloi.

Louvre's Castle, Norway Saturday October 29th 2000

Alexander rushing through the maze-like halls of Louvre's lair, with a lot of reinforcement and runes aiding his rush, searching for Lorelei. Knowing his best chance at survival is to find her before any dead apostle finds him.

Rounding up on a corner he stops just before he could turn, as the completely foreign and unnaturally wrong taste of a dead apostle appears on his tongue. Knowing better than to peak around the corner and shoot the dead apostle likely around it, in case it was the one with the spear.

He grabs a Sowilo carved grenade, one of three on his person since he's left his case behind, and pulling the pin rolls the grenade around the corner. "Huh?" he hears followed by a loud explosion as the grenade goes off, not taking any chances, Alexander quickly runs around the corner to see a dead apostle covered in golden flames, along with much of the hallway.

Alexander crouching slightly while taking out his ritual knife, hastily carves the semi straight line of the Isa rune, and with a quick pull of his prana, the hallway is covered with Ice, almost putting out the solar fire blocking off the hall.

Running past the dead apostle, Alexander as he pasts the burned body, lifts his pistol and fires off two shots both to the dead apostle's head. Alexander jumping back as an ornate spear once again flies over his head, followed by the same woman whom he fought just a few moments ago. Landing where he would have been if not for dodging back.

"You're a hard one to track." she says just shy of snarling in her anger. "But now you're trapped, no more dirty tricks." she says as Alexander very quickly ducks under her brothers axe swing, moments before he made it, causing it to fly over his head.

Alexander quickly shooting off a round into the foot of the male Louvre, barley moves out of the way from the female Louvre's spear it flying right past his ear cutting into it slightly. To which he counters attacks by firing his pistol towards her mid-section. Only to have to move right away as her brother having pushed the fear inducing bullet out quickly slashes out to Alexander once more.

Before the female Louvre kicks Alexander in his midsection, breaking two of his ribs and sending him flying through the door behind him, breaking through it with a rushed failed reinforcement. Alexander ignoring the rush of pain, and increased glow of his arm, rolls back from the overhead swing of the male louvre's axe.

"You certainly are quite competent when it comes to avoiding attacks." the male Louvre starts with almost praise as his sister heals from her bullet wound. "You may be tough to put down, since we admittedly took weapons more suited to dealing with Lorelei than you." he continues lashing out with a slash of his axe, the mystic part of the weapon useless against Alexander.

Alexander having barley managed to avoid the onslaught of quick axe slashes from Louvre, quickly lifts his pistol and goes to fire it, only for the female Louvre to knock his pistol from his hand, and quickly with such speed that Alexander could barely turn his body slightly as she brings her spear down running it across his body.

As her brother comes from behind her and slashes towards Alexander's head, to which he ducks under before punching the side of the female Louvre's spear making it move out of the path to skewer him. Shifting her body slightly she round house kicks him sending him flying as he feels more of his ribs break and blood rush into his lungs. Crashing into the stone wall on the other side of the room, and falling onto his face.

"Let's go assist father with his battle against Barthomeloi." the male Louvre says believing Alexander to be dead. "Yes le- Pathetic!" she starts only to be interrupted by Alexanders shout. "What did you say!" the male Louvre shouts in rage at the insult.

Alexander pushing himself up with one arm the other reaching for something on his belt says. "Not you, me I'm pathetic, he managed this same thing and he did it without this." Alexander starts shaking his head slightly. "He didn't get his ass handed to him; I didn't fail against you." he continues his voice taking a harsher tone partway through as a red magic circle appears underneath him.

"He didn't have to break his promise, even if I didn't make one, or that I'm not truly going against my word." Alexander says having pushed himself up to his knees, with one hand resting on his leg, and the other holding a card to the ground, another magic circle moving upwards from the one below him. "I'm sorry Luvia... Install." sending out a burst of magical energy.

Feeling the burst, the female Louvre in a burst of speed faster than she has previously moved lunges outwards with her spear, as a bayoneted rifle cleaves through the blinding light coming from Alexander, and slams into the spear, sending it into the stone floors of the room, with such strength it imbeds the spear into the ground and knocks it from Louvre's hand.

Louvre attempting to take a step back, is kicked in the stomach, sending her flying back into her brother as Alexander takes a step forwards, his attire and presence having changed drastically. His previously damaged and torn attire, being switched with, a brown jacket with the sleeve bunched up above the left forearm, over a red sweater with a few pieces of black chest armor over it. With a lantern hanging by his right hip, and a flat-cap on top his head.

"You're both dead apostles, right, so tell me?" Alexander asks rushing towards the two Louvres with speed incomparable with his previous self, as Louvre pushes his sister out of the way, and swings out with his axe, as Alexander his left arm hanging uselessly on his side lifts his rifle and swings it at the axe cutting through the mystic code with slight effort.

"Haven't you already learned" he says lifting his rifle with only one hand, as the golden circuit like patterns on his arm, rush down his hand in through the Garand settling inside the barrel of the rifle "la réalité paye toujours ses dettes." he Declares as Alexander pulls the trigger sending a beam of golden light from the barrel.

And as the light dies down, Alexander could only see the destruction left in the wake of the noble phantasm. The remainder of room being only behind him, the open sky after it pierced the many walls of the fortress. The nothingness as the only remains of the two Louvre's. He Lets out a breath of relief, "Uninstall." he says as his clothes change back to his damaged and tattered gear. Falling to his knees exhausted Avengers card barley clutched in his hand. Alexander picking himself up, slowly makes his way to his pistol, and picks it up. Before trying to make his way to the door of the room, only to fall to the ground having passed out unable to stay awake any longer.

Omake, Medea route, part 4.

Alexander quietly enjoying his coffee, as the red headed teen across from him looks dumbstruck at Medea sitting across from him. "Wait let me go through every once again, you knew my dad?" he asks her, to which the caster servant shakes her head no "I did not know your father Emiya-San." she says the suffix new to her.

"I knew of him, I actually based some of how I fight off him, your dad was a horrible screw-up and terrible human being, but a great man." Alexander says to Shirou not seeing a point in lying to him. Shirou rounding himself towards Alexander asks "What makes you say that?"

Shaking his head Alexander says "Listen Emiya, your dad to this day is feared back in the clock tower as the magus killer, a mage so dangerous he was able to not only kill any mage he came across but he was also able to win the Heaven's feel despite being paired with a saber he was not suited for."

"Ignoring that for a second, what's the Heaven's feel?" he asks to which Medea answers with "The Heaven's feel ritual, better known as the Holy grail war is a battle between seven mages, and their summoned heroic spirt over the holy grail, a near omni powerful wish granting device. That usually takes place once every sixty years, but for some reason has sprouted up fifty years early."

"Okay, I knew their where other mages, and from what dad told me this doesn't surprise me, but what does this Holy grail war have to do with me?" he asks looking towards Alexander, shaking his head he says "I knew you were dumb Emiya but this is well beyond my expectations."

"Hey!" Shirou objects, ignoring him Alexander continues "Okay, so basic history lesson, there are three guaranteed positions in the Heaven's feel for the three founders, the Einzbern, the Tohsaka, yes that Tohsaka, and the Makiri, now known as the Matou-"

"Wait are you saying Sakura is a mage?" he asks shocked. Tisking Alexander says "You know Emiya it's rude to interrupted someone when they are giving you advice that could very well save your life. Now as I was saying other than those three, there are two spots reserved for the mages Assocation which Bazett and myself were meant to fill. And finally, the two remaining seats, meant to be given out at random, now quick question which one do you think you fill?"

"Uh the last one?" Shirou asks uncertain if his answer is correct. "Indeed." Medea agrees watching her summoner closely. "Okay why do you think you qualify for that seat?" taking a moment to think he says "Because dad won right? The grail wants me to fight since he's, my dad."

"Inde-so close" Alexander says interrupting Medea before continuing "Your dad is why you're participating but that's not the only reason, and even then, you didn't get the part about your dad right." Shirou taking a minute to let his words sink in seemly comes to a realization, "The fire, the war caused the fire."

"Correct, maybe some deep part of the grail reached out to you to try and fix the damage it's done to you. But I suspect that's not likely. The likely true reason is, because your dad took the Einzbern seat in his grail war." Alexander says explaining a few of the conclusions he's come up with over the years.

"Wait, dad was an Einzbern?" He asks confused, Medea shaking her head says "Not in the way you're thinking, he married into the family." Alexander nodding says "Yep, even though you haven't met her your mother would be Irisviel Von Einzbern, now your sister on the other hand-"

"My sister?!" Shirou asks confused. Alexander nodding says "Yes, your sister is a conversation for a bit latter, but since I can tell you won't fully let it go, you likely got the extra seat since the grail views you as an Einzbern."

Taking a moment to breath in between the long lecture before continuing "Now your sister Illya, first things first, she's Berserker's summoner and wants to kill you." he says as Shirou stands up from the table shouting "Why does she want to kill me?!"

Leveling a lazy glare Alexander says "Do me a solid and sit down." he says to which an angry Shirou begrudgingly sits. "Secondly, she doesn't know you don't know she exists; in fact, she believes you stole her dad from her, and were the reason he never rescued her. Which is a load of bull as your dad tried to save her over and over again, but he was too weak and he died before he could."

Shirou looking at his hands pondering over the information he's just been given before muttering under his breath "I have to save her." Medea reaching over the table smacks him in the head. "No Hero complex during dinner." she chastises Shirou looking up to Medea turns to Alexander and asks "What do we do?"

Shaking his head Alexander says "No idea, Caster your call." Medea looking to Alexander from the corner of her eye and smiling says "Well I would say the first thing to do is fix Emiya, was it? Circuits so he can summon Saber, then we visit Archer and Tohsaka."

"My Circuits?" Shirou asks confused as Medea brings her gaze back up to him a sadist smile on her face as she says "Indeed."

And that's it, wow a lot to go through this chapter, firstly Medea route continuing, which I will now announce something I've been planning since the beginning the Medea route is not just an idea of what would happen if Alexander summoned some servants, it's what happened to the original Alexander during his time as caster's master during the fifth Holy grail war, so it's cannon to the story. Now moving onto Avenger, I did say you haven't seen him in any type-moon work, which you technically haven't since Alexander is not an actually type-moon character I'm sure some of you have seen through it but the original Alexander who I'll be calling Avenger from now on is Avenger. So, to answer the question of how strong Avenger was compared to Alexander, about a servant's difference in strength. To be clear Avenger is not a counter guardian, I will be explaining how he got into the throne of hero's without becoming one latter on in the story. And I would like to be completely clear, Avenger's card is not going to be the main focus of the story, it will be part of the overarching plot of it, but not the main focus that's going to be Alexander not his predecessor, so while the card will be in the story its will not be the main focus, it'll be more of a tool for Alexander to use if he thinks there's no other way out of a situation. And with that said. For those of you whom read my pervious story Shattered I said I would be posting it once I reached a certain point in this story, which I'm glad to say I just have, so if you're reading this, I am happy to say that next month you will be getting the Second part of Angelica journey. To be clear I will be changing to posting both this and shattered, each month, so next month no grave reality and the month after that no Shattered. I'm sorry if that bothers you but I'm currently attempting to get my para-legal and I don't have the time for two stories a month, it has been a pleasure writing for you all and thank you for your support and criticism.
