Brunch & Conversation

Hello again, not much to say this time so it's right to the story, after I say I do not own type-moon. Anyway, here you go.

London, Friday January 26th , 2001

"So why are we here again?" Alexander asks looking around the fairly high-class establishment, drinking his coffee before making eye contact with the brown-haired women across from him. Lorelei grimacing slightly says, "We are waiting for the Kaleidescope, Though I dread to wonder why you are needed for this as well."

"Honestly it's Zeltretch I've stopped attempting to understand the things he does." Alexander remarks. Raising a brow as a gauntleted hand sets down a cup of tea Barthomeloi says. "Not what I would expect from someone who has his personal attention." Shrugging he says "You already know why he brought me in."

"That I do, but the Kaleidescope does not act without reason, especially when he could have had entire departments researching the card. He's done so with other artifacts before." she starts before moving on. "However, I still cannot fathom what discussion requires the directors of the clock tower and you." she says layering condescension on the word you.

"You're trying to annoy me on purpose aren't you." Alexander states as Lorelei narrowing her eyes slightly "As if I would lower myself to attempt to goad you." She dismisses, her face showing clear confusion at the notion. "I cannot tell if you're seriously that arrogant or just messing with me."

"I am not arrogant, my pride is well earned and tested." she says upfronted by Alexanders remark. "Your ability is well earned and tested; pride is never earned." Alexander counters his tone darker than usual. "Clearly you have no sense of pride." Lorelei scoffs rolling her eyes dismissively.

"Thank you." Alexander thanks, as their conversation halts as a waiter stops to serve their orders. Holding a hand slightly over the meal as he mutters "Depend," causing Lorelei to take on a look of minor annoyance. "Rend, End" Alexander says cutting off the flow of prana to the meal fairly quickly. "That paranoid, are you?" Lorelei snarks as Alexander just nods slightly.

"Well yeah, I do this for anything I didn't make, can never be too careful." Alexander says before starting to eat, keeping his eyes glancing around the room. "Are you truly that worried about poisons?" she asks curious. Shaking his head he says "Not really poison I just have a thing about health, so I want to know exactly what I'm putting in my body."

"And why are you worried about your health, according to my reports you are somewhat beyond peak human health." Lorelei questions making conversation until Zeltretch shows up. "My grandpa and dad died of heart failure, and my mom died because of liver failure when I was four, dad died when I was seven."

"My apologies." Lorelei says genuinely sorry for bringing up the topic. "Don't be, I've had years to deal with it, Lizzy was old enough to take care of me, but it definitely stressed her more than she needed." Alexander says reminiscing as he suddenly looks down clearly distraught.

Shaking it off Alexander goes back to focusing on his meal, as Lorelei, uninterested in Alexander's turmoil, does so as well. So, the two eat in silence, both waiting for Zeltretch to show up but disliking each other causing them to prefer silence.

Alexander checking his watch says, "So it's been two hours since Zeltretch said to show up." Lorelei doing some mental calculations asks, "Truly? He told me he would be arriving ten minutes ago." sighing Alexander says "Of course he would, wait if he said ten minutes ago why'd you show up an hour ago?"

"Arriving on time is arriving an hour late." she says simply waving a hand dismissively. "I had believed that you also arrived early." she continues leveling him a disapproving look. "Considering how often I'm given the wrong time, on time is early."

"And who's to say that the Kaleidescope won't start giving you a later time?" Lorelei points out causing Alexander to shrug "I doubt Zeltretch would do that for anything important." scoffing slightly she says "I am baffled at what he sees in you."

"It's really simple I'm entertainment, like you've said he could have had entire departments studying Avenger. It's not like I had his expertise with the heaven's feel, from what I can tell it would take years for me to potentially reach his level." Alexander explains causing Lorelei to tilt her head slightly a expression of disbelief on her face.

"What?" Alexander asks, schooling her expression Lorelei says, "And as I have already said, the Kaleidescope does not act without reason, even if you are unable to see it, he has brought you for a reason." Leaving Alexander to think on her words for a moment.

Still sensing a bit of disbelief in him she says, "Do not forget we are speaking of the man who gathered up every mage in the world under him to battle and ultimately triumph against Brunestud." Alexander turning to look towards the door as the familiar form of Zeltretch enters and walks calmly to the table sitting down and asking "Talking of my old exploits are we?"

"Ah you have finally arrived, I trust something truly important caused your tardiness." Lorelei says as Zeltretch smirking "Indeed traffic was terrible," he says simply before turning to Alexander and continuing "Plus, I had to spend some time looking for Alexander since he wasn't where I asked him to be."

Alexander not wanting to deal with this conversation says "Whatever, I'm guessing I'm not actually needed here?" shaking his head Zeltretch says "No your not, but I do enjoy your company I assume miss Barthomeloi would agree."

"I have not met a more contemptable man in my life." She replies immediately, causing Zeltretch to chuckle. "Truly out of every relationship he had this one is the most similar." Zeltretch says as Alexander standing up out of the chair asks, "Is there anything you need from me, or can I go?"

Zeltretch sliding over a suitcase which Alexander quickly bends over to pick up. "That matter I was investigating has turned up some worrying information, while I'm still determining if intervention is necessary I believe getting you some relevant information Important, read up and determine the best course of action." He advises seriously before turning back to Lorelei.

"Got it." Alexander says leaving the two to their conversation as he exits the establishment. Hailing a Taxi Alexander quickly gives the driver directions as the car drives off, leaving the street behind as Alexander opens the suitcase to assess the contents before arriving home.

London, Saturday January 27th , 2001

Luvia idly closing her eyes taking in the Soprano's voice listening to the story being told as the song hits a high note. Ignoring Alexander blatantly sleeping in the chair next to her uncaring of the dirty looks the box's other residents were shooting him. Enjoying the music as the song cuts away and the currents close done with the current act, she looks over to Alexander as he startles awake, his eyes darting around quickly as attempts to determine his location.

"Alexander are you alright?" Luvia asks concerned by his sudden awakening, nodding as they make eye contact, he raises a shaking hand to his head as she sees the regret in his eyes before they are steeled over with practiced discipline his hand steadying as he says. "I'm fine, what'd I miss?"

Luvia recognizing the wanted distraction answers "You slept through most of the second act, honestly I do not know why I bother to bring you to this." Shrugging as he sits up straighter in his chair as he says, "We're friends going to things that I don't like but you do is apart of that, you didn't enjoy last Saturday."

Scoffing at the accusation she responds, "You had us watch a three-hour documentary on Dams of all things." relaxing a bit more he says, "It was about hydro-electric power not dams and I still think that beats opera."

"Opera is a timeless classic well over four hundred years old, I highly doubt that anyone with a bit of taste would agree with your view." Luvia says defending her choice of entertainment. "All that tells me is that opera is four hundred years past its time." Alexander retorts immediately causing Luvia to sigh deeply.

"Why do I even bother attempting to make you sophisticated." Luvia laments jokingly as Alexander cracks a small smile. "Sophistication is for people with more money than sense." Alexander replies immediately receiving a glare from Luvia as the elderly man seated behind them laughs loudly before catching himself causing the two to remember there not alone.

"Don't mind me son, I've just never heard something I agree with so much said at events like this." He says smiling as Luvia rolls her eyes and Alexander notes. "Sounds like you don't enjoy them." nodding the man says "I don't, there are much better mediums to tell a story than this." gesturing to the still closed curtains with his cane.

"Then why come?" Luvia asks to join the conversation. "My wife rest her soul loved them, I haven't missed one since." causing Alexander to motion in understanding as Luvia falls silent, quietly showing her sympathy.

"Well how about you two sate an old man's curiosity, how'd the two of you meet, not every day an American and Finn? End up together in London." he asks as Immediately both Luvia and Alexander respond, "We are not together." at the same time, causing the older man to chuckle again.

"We met during our studies." Luvia says keeping the conversation going as Alexander continues with "I'm a student researcher and she's just a student." causing Luvia to smack Alexander on the shoulder making an upfronted sound at the description.

"Interesting what do you research?" the elderly man asks as Luvia goes to answer having quickly come up with a lie as Alexander says "Magic." causing Luvia to choke as the man raises and eyebrow. "Or more accurately the belief behind magic and the possible explanations for the many different magical stories of different cultures and societies beyond mass delusion including application of rudimentary science."

Nodding at the explanation the man stays quite for a bit thinking it over as Luvia silently attempts to berate Alexander for his explanation. "Hm, that's quite the subject is it historical research?" the man questions as Alexander motions with his hands in a maybe motions. "Sort of, my area of focus is mythical figures Lancelot, Medea, Billy the kid, and Nordic runes."

"Isn't Billy the kid just a gunslinger?" the old man asks as Alexander nods "He is, that's the thing nothing about him is mystical at all yet because so many people heard of him his legend is exaggerated to the point of impossibility, it's the same principle behind other myths normal stories exaggerated over the years to the point of becoming legend."

Nodding along the man asks. "What's your name son?" as Alexander answers "Alexander Silver." nodding the man says, "I will be on the lookout for any papers in your name, I'm sure they will be a fascinating read."

"What about you miss, I'm curious what you are learning from such an institution preforming such interesting research." he asks as Luvia sharing a quick look with Alexander sighs before saying "I study jewels and their potential for energy storage."

"Sounds expensive." the man says simply as Luvia shrugs "My family has been dealing in jewels for generations, so it is less expensive for us than others." She says as Alexander turns his head to the door as it opens and an unfamiliar man in a suit enters the room heading straight towards Alexander.

Unsure of the situation Alexander subtly activates his circuits as the man hands Alexander a phone before walking off. Confused he takes the call listening to the voice on the other line as his expression tightens and he turns to Luvia. "Sorry I have to go, Zeltretch needs me."

"Is everything alright?" Luvia asks concern clear across her face as Alexander nods "Yeah, I might be out of the country for a while." he says gets out of his seat and walks out of the room, leaving Luvia behind as the curtains open on the stage the third act beginning.

"Is that normal for him?" the older man says as Luvia nods "Yes, this would be the third time he's left the country for work." she answers watching the opera silently wondering about the situation. The conversation dying out as the Soprano starts to sing and Luvia is left alone.

Omake, Servant summoning 3

Alexander finishing his chant blinks his eyes a few times waiting for them to adjust from the bright light of the summoning laying eyes on his newly summoned Heroic spirt he immediately says. "How I shouldn't be able to summon you!"

Gilgamesh raising an eyebrow for a moment says "Do not believe had I wished otherwise I would be here mongrel, you have not summoned me and you are far from a worthy servant for me." Causing Alexander to grit his teeth in annoyance debating on ordering the Caster to die or not shouts. "Then why are you even here?"

Taking a moment to himself before answering Gilgamesh says, "Do not believe you can make demands of me mongrel I am here to test myself against the only worthy foe in this grail war... Myself which shall prove their dominance wisdom or youth!"

"So you're here to fight against the other Gilgamesh already in Fuyuki?" Alexander asks confused as Gilgamesh rolling his eyes says "Yes I understand your difficulty understanding a mind such as mine but do keep up, and I have not given you permission to address me so informally, though you may have it."

Alexander silently pondering on the situation for a moment eventually decides. "Are you going to attempt to use the grail to test humanity?" to which Gilgamesh just rolls his eyes and says "I have no interest in testing humanity against such malice."

"Fuck it I'm in." Alexander says cursing as he throws his hands up completely done with the situation and just wanting to see what's going to happen now.

So next chapter Alexander is going to be getting his new targets so yay story progression though this arc will have less to do with Avenger, beyond that not much else to say. Omake wise a bit more of an interaction between Alexander and Gil which I debated making kid Gil before deciding Caster Gil vs Archer Gil is a cool concept, anyways see you next time.
