it's a nice sunny day in the east blue. The sun is out and the birds are flying in the sky. Everything is at peace.
on a island called dawn island, there is a young boy, a boy, who dreams of freedom, joy, and a life of adventure.
shame his grandfather thinks differently. Garp wants his 4 year old grandson to be a strong Marine someday.
who is this young boy you ask?... his name, is monkey D Luffy.
'Luffy!, stop fighting my grip, ya know good and well it's for your own good'. Said Garp. Garp is holding Luffy by the collar of his shirt.
'but I keep telling ya, I don't want to be a dumb marine, i want freedom!'. Screamed Luffy fighting the power grip he's in.
'you don't know, what you want. The marines are a great place to be strong. You'll see when you are done climbing up this big cliff'. Said Garp.
'wait, grandpa don't, I'll die this Time for sure'. Screamed Luffy afraid of falling down the cliff.
'stop being a baby, it's going to be one hell of a fun way to become stronger'. Said Garp with a smile.
just like that Luffy is thrown down the cliff, and falls down.
'GRANDPA!!'. Screamed Luffy as he falls.
'he'll be fine, he's my grandson after all'. Said Garp to himself.
[down the cliff]
Luffy managed to survive by hitting a lot of branches down.
'I need a better grandpa'. Said Luffy to himself.
as Luffy gets up and dusts himself off, he finds himself near a river stream. He then follows to find a way back up.
during his trip he finds a wrecked boat near by. Onboard it was a lone skeleton of a human person. Not sure where the boat came from, Luffy finds a key around the skeletons neck.
he then spots a small chest near the skeleton. Not knowing what was inside, Luffy decides to use the key, hoping it opens the chest.
to his surprise, it does. After opening it, Luffy becomes puzzled by what's inside.
it's a strange looking fruit, that's the shape of a star, plus it's yellow with brown swirls around it.
confused, Luffy started getting hungry. Not knowing what to do with the strange fruit, Luffy being Luffy, he eats it.
after swallowing, Luffy begins feeling defeated by the bad taste it had.
'the heck was that fruit??'. Asked Luffy.
just like that, Luffy started feeling lighter in both body weight and mind.
just like that, the boat started moving to a water fall. Feeling fear, Luffy didn't know what to do... until his body began to turn into Light, and disappeared off the boat before it fell down the water fall.
not knowing what to think of the fact, that he just teleported off the boat, and back on land.
he then saw his hands glowing with Light. He has Light powers.
'I don't know how this is possible. But I like it. Now that I have this ability. I think it's Time I get back at grandpa for the fall'. Said Luffy still upset about falling a deadly cliff.
[Garp's camp site]
Garp was cooking a big boar he found. As he cooks it he spots his grandson returning.
'there ya are, how was the climb?, pretty fun huh??'. Asked Garp.
Luffy was silent for a few minutes until speaking...
'I'm going to beat you up now grandpa'. Said Luffy.
'I'll be the judge of it. Show me what ya got Luffy'. Said Garp showing no fear at all.
'gladly'. Said Luffy smiling before giving a blinding bright light from his left hand to Garp's face.
Garp quickly closed his eyes shut. He then took a breat in and out.
just like that, Luffy used his Light teleportation to get behind in case Garp hits from the front.
just before Luffy could land a hit in the back of Garp's head... Garp quickly turned around and sucker punched Luffy into a crater in the ground.
'i may be old, but i have a faster and stronger reflex then you Luffy. Ya to slow to beat me boy'. Said Garp grinning victoriously.
'but... how??'. Asked Luffy confused.
'it's simple. Your not using your new powers for the right way'. Said Garp.
'you know of this strange power i have now?!'. Asked Luffy completely surprised.
'yep, you ate a devil fruit. It's called that, because it grants the user a power, but takes away the ability to swim forever'. Said Garp.
'what else can you tell me about them?'. Asked Luffy.
'have a seat Luffy. I'll explain everything to ya about devil fruits'. Said Garp with a happy smile.
just like that, Luffy learned about devil fruits and their abilities.
after learning he ate a Logia type devil fruit, Garp began training Luffy ten times harder then before.
this was just the beginning.
