CHAPTER 010 – BATTLE TRIALS PART 2
"Alright everyone, time to continue with the trials. 'E' teams, you're up!" announced All Might and the next group left the observation area.
XXXXXXXXXX E TEAMS' TRIAL XXXXXXXXXX
Heroes – Tsuyu Asui & Yuga Aoyama
Villains – Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu & Reiko Yanagi
Class 1B's team quickly came up with a plan together as soon as they entered the building. They decided to take the fake bomb to the fourth floor by Tetsutetsu. As he did that, Reiko used her quirk to bring many objects from throughout the building to the room to use. Once she gathered enough items, she used them to board up the windows in the room with her quirk. The remaining ones she would use to protect the bomb.
"Everything done?" asked Tetsutetsu.
"Yes, our defenses are prepared and my offensive items are readied," replied back Reiko.
"Awesome! I can't wait to start! I hope the ones we're gonna face give us a good fight."
Reiko glanced at her partner with her neutral expression. "You enjoy altercations with others to test your battle prowess?"
"Of course! Don't you?" asked Tetsutetsu back.
"It's not for me. I'm aware that there are situations that call for aggressive behavior but I'd rather attempt to deescalate situations or find alternatives to fighting in order to stop someone."
"Hmm." Tetsutetsu thought about that for a bit as he held his chin with his right hand. "Yeah, it would be good to be able to do that. But we don't live in a perfect world so we have to be ready for a fight that could happen at any time. With these practice battles, it'll help us prepare. And the stronger we get and the more experience we have, maybe in the future just our presence alone will stop those from doing bad things. Plus, how else would we be able to improve or keep our skills sharp?"
Though Reiko was surprised over his rather thoughtful words, her expression remained stoic. "I see. Your words do have merit. I shall remember them and use them to further my training. You have my gratitude for helping me see things in a different perspective."
Tetsutetsu chuckled as he rotated his shoulders to loosen up a bit. "No prob Yanagi. I'm always happy to help." Moving towards the door, he started pounding his fists together. "Oh, man I can't wait. C'mon! Start this already All Might!"
Seeing her teammate get anxious for the battle to start, Reiko felt it affecting her as well. Though she became excited as well, her expression remained stoic. "Yes, let us do this."
Right after she finished speaking, All Might signaled the start of the match. "Alright!" Glancing back at his teammate, Tetsutetsu grinned. "That's the spirit Yanagi! Remember the plan and if you need help, just call me! I'm off!" Without waiting for a reply, the metal quirk user left the room.
Somewhere else on the second floor, Yuga was doing his best to remain calm. Though he would always display a confident display around others, inside he was actually quite nervous. Sure, it was a practice battle at UA, but it was the first time that he would be using his quirk against an actual person. Blasting apart the robots at the entrance exam was different compared to living beings that can act and think for themselves. Plus, even with his limit of firing his naval laser for only a single second at a time, he was worried about hurting someone if he used too strong a blast during that second.
All in all, Yuga kept calm by focusing on the match and what he agreed to do with his partner Tsuyu. He was glad that the two of them were able to communicate with each other well and come up with a plan. While he checked inside the building, she would quickly climb up the outside wall to see if she could spot the bomb through the windows.
After checking through another room, Yuga closed the door quietly behind him and continued down the hallway. A second later, he heard his partner saying his name through the communicator. He reached up to his ear and pressed the button. "Oui, mademoiselle?"
"I think I found the bomb. Fourth floor has the middle room's windows boarded up, kero. Could be there."
Yuga quickened his pace. "I shall meet you there mademoi…"
"Gotcha!"
Yuga practically shot up into the air from the sudden shout as he jumped forward. His reaction saved him from a right cross that ended up hitting the wall next to him. Turning around, Yuga's eyes widened over what he saw; his opponent had a metallic sheen to him. "What brutish strength! And, are you made of metal?!"
Tetsutetsu struggled for a second because his fist had sunk into the wall before pulling his hand out of it and faced Yuga. "That's right and thanks hero but compliments alone won't save you from me!" Pounding his fists together at first, he then dashed towards him while bellowing out a battle cry.
Reacting from fright, Yuga let loose a blast from his naval laser. Tetsutetsu didn't react in time and it connected directly against his chest that sent him flying back. Crashing against the floor, Tetsutetsu was able to get back up rather quickly.
Seeing that happen, Yuga was surprised and when Tetsutetsu ran towards him, he let loose another blast. This time the blast barely sent him back a few feet because the metal user braced for it and covered up. Startled, Yuga used the communicator while he kept firing blast after blast. "Tsu-chan, I require help. This brute is not affected by my dazzling light!"
Static for a second until he got a response. "Aoyama, I can't. I'm fighting his teammate who caught me before I could slip in. She's defending the bomb room, kero and won't let me leave."
Panicking, Yuga didn't know what to do. His stomach was starting to hurt with all the lasers he fired off. My dazzling light can't shine like this! Deciding to run for it, Yuga sprinted away as fast as he could from the metallic male after firing one last laser.
Tetsutetsu tanked the blast again and held his ground. When he was able to, he lowered his arms and found the area empty. "What the…did he just run away?! That's so unmanly!" He suddenly heard his name being called and he answered his communicator. "What's up Yanagi?"
"I'm at a stalemate with one of our adversaries who found the bomb room. I'm able to keep her at bay however I heard her speaking. She more than likely called for her partner and I require assistance."
"I'll be right there!" Tetsutetsu immediately made for the bomb room while going as fast as he could while maintaining his metal form.
In the bomb room, Tsuyu was moving as quickly as she could. She was jumping around the room, moving along the walls and using her very long tongue to block incoming projectiles or throw her own. As fast as she moved, it wasn't enough to reach the bomb however. Each time she got close, she had to abandon her attempt because the one protecting it wasn't letting up.
"You're quite agile," complimented Reiko while sending another chair hurtling towards the frog like girl with her telekinesis. "But what of your stamina?"
Tsuyu dodged the wooden furniture that ended up breaking apart as it crashed into the wall. "Thanks and don't worry. I still have plenty to use," she replied back as she landed on the floor. Immediately afterwards, she shot her tongue out towards the ghostly girl.
Reiko had dodged several of her tongue attacks before but this time decided on something different. Standing her ground, she used her telekinesis to bring multiple items in front of her as a shield to block the attack. Expecting the shield to take the hit, she was surprised when the green haired girl's tongue went around the makeshift shield and wrapped around her right foot. "How di-"
She wasn't allowed to finish when she was suddenly pulled forward and lost her balance. She let out an involuntary yelp of pain when her back hit the floor but that wasn't it. She was lifted up into the air and brought back down onto the floor before she was suddenly thrown to the side. Colliding against the wall, Reiko dropped to the floor and groaned while disoriented.
At that moment, the door opened and Yuga ran in a few steps before stopping. "I-I'm here to…" He trailed off and panted a bit while taking in what he saw. The room was littered with broken items and furniture that was thrown around in an attempt to hit Tsuyu. And by the far side, the grey haired girl seemed to be down for the count. "Huh, mademoiselle did well."
"Thanks, kero but let's finish this. I'll capture her and you get the bomb before we start celebrating," advised Tsuyu as she began moving towards the down girl.
Yuga nodded in agreement. "Oui, that sounds excellent. We shall-"
"METAL PUNCH!"
Yuga was cut off thanks to loud shouting that made him turn his head in time to receive a metallic right hook straight to his cheek. "Aaahhh!" yelped the blonde male in a high pitch tone while flying several feet through the air and landed roughly against the floor. He whimpered and remained on the floor.
Tetsutetsu didn't let up and continued towards the green haired girl. "You're next!" he shouted, making a beeline towards her.
Tsuyu jumped up to the ceiling and clung to it to give herself some space. While the new arrival whined about her action being unmanly, she quickly thought some things. We were so close. This guy seems to be made of metal. He'll probably just walk off being thrown around. Aoyama doesn't seem like he'll get up anytime soon. And the psychic user seems to be out too. Time's running out and my only chance is to get to the bomb. Making a decision, Tsuyu shot her tongue towards the metal user.
Tetsutetsu dodged out of the way while the tongue kept going. "Ha, you missed me!"
"That was the idea!" replied Tsuyu as she leapt from her spot.
Confused over her answer, Tetsutetsu looked at where her tongue went and found that it had wrapped around a pillar near the bomb. His eyes widened in shock and realized his mistake. "Shit!" he exclaimed as he saw the frog girl land near the bomb and he was too far away to tackle her away.
Right before Tsuyu could touch the bomb however, several items hit her from the side and she was sent flying away from the bomb. Quickly adjusting, Tsuyu flipped in the air and landed onto her feet. "You're still in this, kero?"
Reiko had composed herself in time to stop Tsuyu touching the bomb but her head was starting to hurt. She was nearing her limit and the beating she took before wasn't helping her growing headache. "Yes," replied the grey haired girl as she struggled to her feet. "I may be injured, but I won't give up."
"So manly!" Both girls turned to look at the metallic male with peculiar expressions. "It's a compliment!"
Both girls gave blank looks as Tsuyu made a comment. "You should talk to Kirishima from our class, kero. You two would probably get along." She then noticed something from the corner of her eyes. "But for now, we have a trial to win." Before they could reply back, she shouted out; "NOW AOYAMA!"
Yuga had gotten back up without anyone noticing thanks to being behind everyone and his opponents' attention on his teammate. He was readying a blast to fire at his opponents and let it loose when his teammate told him to do so. "Take my dazzling light!" shouted Yuga as he fired it.
Tetsutetsu turned around while bracing himself to tank the laser again like he did. But he was still turning as the laser struck him and that caused the beam to reflect off him. The beam ended up hitting the fake bomb and destroyed it.
"VILLAIN TEAM WINS DUE TO THE BOMB EXPLODING!"
All four of them were stunned over what just happened. Until they slowly came out of it and reacted in different ways. Tsuyu let out a disappointed sigh. Tetsutetsu allowed his hardened metallic form to fade back to normal and shrugged at his teammate. Reiko nodded back at him. Yuga whined loudly before he hung his head and walked towards the door. The other three followed after him and they all headed towards the observation room.
When they arrived, all four of them had their classmates go up to them and spoke about their trial. Advice and praise were given while commenting and questioning some of their actions. For class 1B, a few began gloating about their class's second win in a row who were mainly Neito and Togaru. Most of class 1A however ignored them except for a certain blonde bombardier who was letting them wind him up into exploding. Tsuyu, after letting Yuga know that she doesn't blame him for their loss and that it was just bad luck, was with her friends now who were doing their best to cheer her up. Even though he knew it was an accident, Yuga still felt responsible and sulked because of it.
"All right, good job out there," praised All Might as he entered the room and walked up to the four. "Both teams did well until the end where things took an unexpected turn. But even before that, there were some things to improve on and change." His gaze fell onto the Tsuyu and Yuga. "You two did well as a team. And you both did well in dealing with the other team. You used your quirks to the best of your abilities. But each of you had your own good and bad performances."
He looked fully at Tsuyu. "Asui, your plan of searching through the windows while your partner checks inside was good. When you were discovered, you quickly adapted and kept things at a stalemate. Even when you were asked for assistance and you couldn't leave, you came up with another plan to help out your teammate." Tsuyu tried to keep herself from smiling too much because she knew that her mistakes were going to be brought up. And they were. "However, you had several chances to overpower your opponent but you didn't take them until near the end. You even had a couple chances to reach the bomb but you didn't take it. Why?"
Tsuyu let out a sigh. "I know Sensei. I was being too cautious and was trying to come up with a way to capture the other team without hurting them too much."
All Might nodded in understanding. "True, you must use only enough force to subdue villains. However, that doesn't mean to be overly cautious. You must be more assertive because sometimes, you don't get more than one chance to do something." Tsuyu said she understood and the number one hero faced Yuga. "Aoyama, you did well in holding off your opponent and when you realized you couldn't take him down on your own, you did the right thing in calling for aid. But, you were also easily distracted and kept doing the same thing when you knew it didn't work. A true hero can't be just a one trick pony. Not only that, but due to unforeseen circumstances, your own quirk was turned against you. Now, this was a practice battle and it was an accident but in the real world, even an accident can cause major consequences. You must not allow things like that to happen. Or at least come up with a way to prevent it from being used in unwanted ways."
Yuga looked down at his feet. "Yes Sensei."
All Might gave his sullen student an encouraging pat on the shoulder before turning to face the other team. "Now, for class 1B's 'E' team. Both of you did really well with your planning and teamwork. You trusted each other to do your parts and when it was needed, worked together to prevent the other team from winning. But there were some things that you can definitely improve on." Both Reiko and Tetsutetsu were glad for the praise but also were ready for their criticism. "Tetsutetsu, you did well in handling Aoyama's laser but once you realized that you can withstand it, you merely kept taking his lasers without trying to overcome them or move forward. You caught up with him later on but you still took a while in doing so. When you encountered Asui, you only saw the obvious and didn't think of possible trickery from her. I suggest you work on your speed and to think outside the box more."
"Yes Sensei! I'll do my best!" replied Tetsutetsu.
All Might smiled before turning to Reiko fully. "Yanagi, your cooperation with your teammate as well as your defense of the bomb was outstanding. Your use of your quirk for both defense and offense was great to see. However, I noticed a distinct lack of assertiveness that could've allowed you to capture your opponent well in advance. Also, you seem to rely entirely on your quirk since there were a couple times where Asui was near you while barely evading your attacks and you did nothing yourself to take advantage. I would suggest learning how to physically fight as it will allow you to take advantage in the future as well as help in shrugging off stronger hits like the ones you took from Asui."
Reiko knew All Might was right and couldn't argue against it. "Thank you for your suggestions and advice All Might Sensei. I shall incorporate them into my future training and practices."
All Might nodded at her and faced all of his students. "All of you should learn from this last battle trial. Sometimes things happen that we didn't mean to happen. You must be prepared for anything and everything that happens out there. Along with that, you should learn of how your own abilities might be used against you or have unintended consequences. Learn how to either prevent them from happening or to limit the amount of damage they cause. Understood?"
"Yes Sensei!" answered both classes.
Smiling at that, All Might spoke afterwards. "Good. Now, 'F' teams are up!"
XXXXXXXXXX F TEAMS' TRIAL XXXXXXXXXX
Heroes – Tenya Iida & Toru Hagakure
Villains – Manga Fukidashi & Kojiro Bondo
"Okay…what's our plan?" asked Toru as she looked at her partner.
Said partner was thinking with his right hand on his chin. "Hmm, I'm not sure of what quirks the other team, the villains, will have. But with my speed, I should be able to find the bomb quickly. Then, I can relay the location to you and you should be able to sneak in from the fire escape while I distract them and touch the bomb," explained Tenya.
"Okay, not bad. I like the plan."
"Alright, then we'll stick with that. Just be prepared in case they find you." Tenya turned to look at her. "You do know how to fight, right Hagakure?" he asked her.
"Hmph! I'm more than just a bubbly girl you know!" whined Toru. She started taking off her gloves and shoes.
"What are you doing?" asked Tenya in confusion.
"What does it look like?" asked Toru back rhetorically. "I'm going full stealth mode. Without my gloves and shoes, they won't be able to see me at all and I'll make even less noise."
A thought suddenly entered Tenya's head and he blurted it out without thinking. "Wait, you're naked?!" he asked. Even though he couldn't see her, he turned away from her while reddening. Not waiting for a reply, he kept on speaking while chopping his right hand in the air repeatedly out of habit. "Don't you have any shame?! That's so irresponsible and as a student of this great institution, you must find a way to…"
"Whoa, whoa, relax there! I'm not naked!"
Tenya stopped and glanced back at her in surprise. "What?"
Toru let out a sigh. "I said I'm not naked. I have a special costume that's made from my hair that I wear. Don't you think that I'd be freezing my butt off right now or how self-conscious I'd be around everyone even with them not being able to see me? Or did you really believe that UA would let me walk around naked, even if I was invisible?"
"I see. You have good points," said Tenya slowly. "But, what about the gloves and shoes?"
"It's to show that I'm there unless I need to completely disappear. Plus, it's fun messing with people," said Toru with a giggle.
"Hagakure, that's not what a hero in training should do! You should refrain from doing such pranks on others!" lectured Tenya as he chopped his right arm again.
Toru let out a sigh. "Let's just focus on the trial." He agreed to it and the invisible girl watched Tenya put on his helmet and face the building. He's not bad looking but he really needs to stop being so uptight about everything. That's really downgrading his attractiveness. I don't think I can deal with that. Oh well, there's still others to choose from. While waiting for the trial to start, Toru mentally debated about crossing Tenya Iida off from her list of potential boyfriend…
Inside the building, both Manga and Kojiro were waiting for the trial to start while staying with the bomb. Kojiro had used his quirk to make many web-like barriers throughout the building on all floors. The very sticky substance would last the entire trial so he didn't have to worry about that. He only hoped that it would stall them long enough so they wouldn't have to deal with them. But he knew that was wishful thinking and tried to keep his nervousness in check while trying to stay on good terms with his partner.
Manga could tell that his partner Kojiro was nervous because of his stuttering and slight shaking. He did his best to help his teammate by being supportive and encouraging. He even praised Kojiro for creating all of the sticky barriers in the building. And now, with the trial about to begin, he did his best to portray confidence so his teammate would behave the same as well.
"Alright, we got this! We'll show how the dream team handles things!" stated Manga, his voice somehow being heard while his speech bubble head displayed a grinning smiley face.
Kojiro nodded and did his best to reply back confidently. "Y-Yeah, we'll w-win."
"BATTLE TRIAL STARTS NOW!"
After hearing the start of the match, both class 1B students jumped because of it. One of them chuckled while the other felt his anxiousness rise. However, they still readied themselves and they looked at one another. Sharing a nod, they both turned to look at the door that led into the room they were in. And then they waited…
What seemed like a knight in shining armor was speeding through the hallways of the building. He was now on the third floor with only a couple minutes passed. Slowed down considerably when he first encountered the sticky web-like barriers on the first floor, Tenya found a way to overcome them. And that was by running right through them at high speed thanks to his quirk with pointy objects that he found inside the building.
Checking the rooms on the floor, Tenya found nothing and headed towards the staircase. He tore through another barrier at the foot of the staircase and while going up the stairs, he contacted his partner. "Hagakure, how's your status?"
"All good here. Haven't found anything while going up the fire escape," replied back Toru.
"Alright. Stay focused as I'm on the fourth floor. I have a feeling they're on the fifth floor but I'm gonna quickly check this floor first since we have time."
"Okay."
Going through the next floor, once again Tenya was able to overcome the defenses thanks to his speed and random items that he found. Checking through the rooms, he found nothing and headed towards the final floor. It would seem I was correct in thinking they'd be on the top floor. They had good defenses and probably have even more readied for us. I have to remain vigilant and on guard. And we should have enough time to either apprehend them or get to the explosive device.
Once he reached the fifth floor, Tenya quickly found the where the opposing team was and contacted his partner. "Hagakure, I'm on the fifth floor and found where they are. They're in the last room on the left."
"I'm coming up the stairs now. Wait for me."
Agreeing to her request, Tenya didn't have to wait long until he could hear very light footsteps behind him. Turning around, he couldn't see her but knew she was coming closer to him thanks to the barely increasing loudness of her steps. "Wow, I can barely hear you. You really are light on your feet," commented Tenya.
Unknown to him, Toru raised her eyebrows. "You should know better than to comment on how heavy a girl is."
Tenya's eyes widened and he sputtered. "I-I didn't mean it l-like that! I w-was merely…"
"Hehe, relax, I was just kidding," interrupted Toru.
"Hagakure! Now is not the time for joking and shenanigans! We should take these lessons seriously!" chastised Tenya seriously in a low voice.
"Yeah, you're right. I'm sorry," said Toru. Yup, too serious for me, she thought while deciding to cross him off the list completely.
Tenya turned around towards the door. "Alright. While waiting for you to arrive, I was thinking of the best course of action for us. I will enter first and try to overwhelm them with my speed. Once you have an opening, get inside and touch the bomb."
Unable to come up with anything of her own, Toru decided it was probably the best plan for them. "Okay, sounds good to me. Try to stick to one side of the room if you can so I can have an easier time slipping through," requested the invisible girl.
"I'll try to do so," replied Tenya. Getting into a running position, Tenya readied his engines once more and got ready to smash through the door at high speed. "Three…two…one…" His calf engines ignited and with a burst of speed, he shot forward and kicked open the door. Or more like completely broke through it thanks to his armor and speed.
"ZAP! KA-BOOM! WOOSH!"
The moment Tenya entered the room, he heard those words shouted before those words appeared out of thin air all around him. Immediately afterwards, he was being assaulted from all angles. A burst of electricity from one side. A large explosion coming from another. A gust of wind that came from the front. Doing his best to avoid all those attacks, he sped down the left side of the room. He wasn't able to use his highest speed due to the small area but it was enough. The explosion missed him completely and he wasn't too affected by the wind thanks to his armor. But he was still hit by some electric bolts that caused his muscles to spasm for a second but he was able to power through it and kept moving.
"I need a few seconds Bondo! Get him buddy!" shouted Manga, needing a little bit of time to rest his throat before he can continue.
"O-Okay!" Bondo sprayed his quirk at the speedster but he missed. Realizing he wasn't going to hit him directly, Bondo began spraying the sticky substance all over the floor around the armored person.
Seeing what he was trying to do but also knowing that his partner was sneaking towards the bomb, he decided to get all attention onto him. "You won't be able to catch me villains! I'm too fast for you both! You might as well surrender now!"
"Never! Don't give up Bondo, keep going! BANG!"
Manga's encouragement along with his next onomatopoeia word that threw their opponent off his feet, allowed Kojiro to keep shooting his glue at their adversary. And this time, he was able to make a direct hit since he wasn't able to dodge it. Becoming immobilized with his feet sticking to the floor, Tenya could do nothing but wait to see what would happen next.
"Nicely done!" complimented Manga.
Kojiro rubbed the back of his dispenser like head. "T-Thanks."
"One down and one to go. We just have to keep his teammate away and we win," commented Manga and Kojiro agreed. "Who was his teammate again? Oh right, it was the girl who's…invisible…" It was at that point that both of them realized that they had forgotten about that.
"BOMB HAS BEEN CAPTURED! HEROES WIN!"
Whirling around towards the bomb, they heard giggling sounds coming from near it. "Sorry boys, but we win!" cheered Toru happily.
"Ah, damn it. I thought we had that," complained Manga with his shoulders sagging.
"I-I'm sorry," said Kojiro in a low voice.
Manga shook his head. "Don't take all the blame buddy. It was a team effort. We both should've paid more attention. We'll get them next time." After letting his partner know they'll do better next time, Manga and Kojiro helped free Tenya from his binds. Then they all headed back to the observation room.
Once back amongst their peers, they too received some comments, suggestions and praise. Tenya wanted to give long explanations of his decisions but he kept getting cut off. Toru was given praise from her classmates, her close friends and even from some of the other girls from class 1B. Manga and Kojiro were at first hounded on by Neito for their loss and not continuing their winning streak. But thankfully, Itsuka saved them quickly but chopping him against the back of his head and knocking him out for the moment. Most of the rest were much kinder in their conversations with the two, which Manga and especially Kojiro were thankful for.
The door to the side room opened and All Might walked in. "Well done 'F' teams. I saw a lot of good but of course, there's always room for improvement." He moved towards the class 1B team first. "Bondo and Fukidashi, your teamwork was great and your decision to stay and guard the bomb was a good idea. Also, your defensive strategy suited your abilities so that too was a good decision." Both of them said their thanks but didn't get too happy since they knew what was coming next. "Bondo, I suggest finding a way to make your glue stronger. They slowed down the other team, but I believe they could've stopped them completely if they were stronger. Also, you need to be more confident of yourself. You have good skills and a versatile quirk that can help in many scenarios. But it won't do you or anyone else any good if you're not able to act or react due to your nervousness and lack of confidence."
Kojiro tilted his dispenser like head down towards the ground. "I-I know and I'm s-sorry. I…"
He stopped talking when he felt a large hand grasp his shoulder gently. Raising his head, he saw the number one hero giving him an encouraging smile. "You can do it Bondo, I believe in you. So believe in yourself and do your best. Go beyond. Plus ultra!"
Hearing that from the Symbol of Peace made Kojiro feel better and motivation filled him. "I-I'll do my best All Might!"
All Might smiled at him. "Good!" Removing his hand, he turned towards Manga. "As for you Fukidashi, you did well in supporting your teammate and encouraging him. Your quirk is formidable as well and you almost overwhelmed your opponent easily. But, you needed to rest after using your quirk just a few times. You must train your endurance so you can use more words at once before resting. Another thing I noticed is that you seem to focus on just one thing at a time. In some situations, that would be fine but during battles, you must be aware of everything. Especially if others are looking to you to lead them."
"Yes Sensei! I'll keep that in mind and do better!" replied back Manga with a thumb's up picture in his speech bubble.
Smiling at his declaration, All Might turned to face the other team. "Iida and Hagakure," he started while walking up to them. "You came up with a plan quickly that played to both of your strengths. You also kept in communication and worked well with one another." He moved his gaze to Tenya. "You did well in using what you could to overcome your obstacles. You also took on the brunt of the work knowing that your teammate was better suited to stealthy infiltration so that was wise. However, at the end, you made several mistakes by entering the bomb room forcefully with no real plan. If Fukidashi's ambush had taken you out, your teammate would've been left on her own and she would've had a difficult time getting things done. And your speed was also limited in a confined area. You should work on that as well as being able to turn and corner at tighter angles swiftly."
"Yes All Might Sensei! I shall do as you advised and will work diligently on those aspects!" declared Tenya while chopping his right hand. Several of his peers either shook their head in amusement or chuckled at his behavior.
"And you Hagakure," started All Might as he faced where a pair of gloves was floating. "You worked well with your partner and understood your part in the trial. Removing items that would've exposed you shows intelligence and your ability to stealthily infiltrate is top notch. But, I must say that I was disappointed in some things. For one, you weren't serious all the time during the match. Even being off course for a second could cause dire consequences in real life. Also, you're lack of options when it comes to offense is concerning. What if you weren't able to sneak in or the other team had found you before you could reach the bomb. What would you have done then?" Toru remained quiet and All Might continued. "It's good to excel in something but you should always have a backup plan. Alright?"
"I get it. I'll do better and get better Sensei!" exclaimed Toru.
"Good." All Might turned to all the students. "We're almost done. Just a handful more trials. I hope you've all been paying attention to them. They could give you ideas about how to improve yourselves. And now, it's time for the next group. Get out there 'G' Teams!"
XXXXXXXXXX G TEAMS' TRIAL XXXXXXXXXX
Villains – Mashirao Ojiro & Denki Kaminari
Heroes – Pony Tsunotori & Jurota Shishida
"So, do you have any ideas?" asked Mashirao.
Turning to face his partner, Denki gave him a quizzical look. "I thought we already made the plan. Isn't that why we brought the bomb here?" he questioned back.
Mashirao gave a deadpan look as he replied. "Yes, but don't you think we should do some more things besides just bringing the bomb to the highest floor and both of us guard it? Shouldn't we make some defenses or traps?"
"Hmm…how should we go about it?" Looking around them, Denki didn't see anything that they could use with their quirks. He turned to look at his partner before continuing. "I can't really aim with my electricity either. And no offense, but your quirk and martial arts isn't gonna help us with using any of the stuff here either."
Looking around himself, Mashirao found that he had a point. "So, you're like a human stun gun then huh? Have to get in close?" Denki nodded. "Okay, well, can't you channel your electricity through something? We could put something together and use it. Kind of like-"
"Like an electric fence or baton!" interrupted Denki excitedly, finishing for the martial artist. He looked around again but more carefully this time in hopes of finding something that he could electrify. But his excitement quickly faded when he found nothing that he could use. "Damn it." Sagging his shoulders, Denki started mumbling. "If only we had some water…could've made the ground electric or something…"
Mashirao heard him but said nothing. Instead he focused on what they could do. "C'mon, help me move around some furniture. We can at least make it harder to reach the bomb."
"Alright." Denki let out a sigh before helping.
Outside of the building, while the two class 1A students were doing their best to come up with some sort of defenses, the two 1B students were coming up with a plan of their own. Pony was at first quite intimidated by her beastly looking partner but did her best to not show it. As they continued to discuss plans with her partner taking his time to articulate his words so she could better understand, she realized she was being silly. As a result she was able to relax and focus more on the match.
When they first started their discussion, Jurota did notice that the blond girl with horns looked a little nervous but believed it was due to their first heroics lesson they were about to do. He decided it would be better to keep things going so she could become more comfortable. After speaking a bit and coming up with a plan together, he decided to remark on what he saw before. "It's okay to be nervous Tsunotori-san. I am too," stated Jurota.
Pony gave him a surprised look over that while feeling a little ashamed. "Really?"
He nodded. "Yes. Our classmates and sister class have done well and it being our turn now, I don't want to display a poor performance."
She didn't quite understand every word he said but she got the gist of it. For someone who looks dangerous, he's rather gentlemanly. Thank god he didn't realize why I was really nervous. But I really do need to get better with Japanese. "I understand. Let's our best!"
Jurota knew what she was trying to say and smiled back. "Let's do our best," he said, saying it in the proper format.
Pony smiled brightly at that. "Yes! Thanks!"
"BATTLE TRIAL STARTS NOW!"
Upon hearing his voice signal the start of the battle, Pony was momentarily startled and jumped in her spot. "Scared the crap outta me!" she said in English, which made her partner give her a confused look and she noticed it. "Oh, sorry! Got scared," she explained.
Understanding her even with her broken Japanese, Jurota merely nodded and turned towards the building. "We should head on in. Unless you have a better idea, I believe we should go in together and head straight towards them once I catch the scent."
"Okay!"
Leading the way into the building, Jurota was quickly followed by Pony. Once inside the building, he began sniffing the air. Catching a whiff of something, he signaled to his partner quietly that he got it. Understanding him, she nodded and the two of them made their way through the building quickly and quietly.
Back inside the room with the bomb, both Denki and Mashirao were feeling multiple different things. From anxiousness to even slight fear, they wondered how things were gonna go. Especially since they had no idea what quirks the other team could use. They had some ideas but weren't sure about any of them.
A couple minutes of tense silence passed until Mashirao heard a faint sound and signaled to his partner. Denki was about to say something when he was prevented in doing so when his partner gave him the universal sign to remain quiet. Communicating with hand gestures, Mashirao reminded him of their plan and Denki nodded. The two positioned themselves on either side of the door and slowly pressed up against the wall with their backs and waited.
They didn't have to wait long. Barely a minute passed after they got into their positions when it happened. Instead of the door opening, the wall next to Mashirao broke as a large beastly looking man literally charged through it and made to grab the one closest to him.
"What the hell?!" yelped Denki in shock.
Mashirao was able to dodge the attempt and back flipped away before taking up a fighting stance. "Snap out of it! We need to take work together and take him down before his partner comes too!"
Before Denki could even reply, multiple horns flew into the room and went after the two. "Hi, don't me forget!" declared Pony while making her way in.
"Shit, look out!" yelped Denki, jumping to the side to evade the horns.
Mashirao did the same and was about to retaliate when he was grabbed by a large fist. Lifted up into the air, he was then thrown roughly to the side. Yelling in fright at first, Mashirao composed himself quickly and flipped in the air to land with his feet against the wall. Pushing off against it, he shot towards Jurota and landed a punch against his face.
"Aargh!" Stumbling back a few steps from the hit, Jurota caused the room to slightly shake from his size and weight, making the others try to keep their balance. After recovering, Jurota locked his sight onto his opponent and swung his huge arm at him to clothesline him.
Mashirao saw the attack coming and ducked underneath it before maneuvering in closer. Once close enough, he began pummeling the beastly man's torso with all the strength he could muster. Jurota growled in agony before throwing up his leg and hit Mashirao against his side. The martial artist was forced back and evaded more strikes before he saw another opening and charged in.
While Jurota and Mashirao were fighting, Pony and Denki were having their own little clash. Pony was keeping Denki on the defensive with her flying horns while he kept trying to evade and get in closer to her so he could shock her with his electricity. A few times he had gotten close but was hit at the last second from her horns and he was starting to get frustrated from all the cuts caused by the horns.
"Damn it!" growled Denki after getting hit again. Looking at the small girl, she had a grin on her face. "That's it, this is over!" Denki started charging up and small bolts of electricity were starting to shoot off of him, making Pony back up with her already big eyes widening. "As cute as you are, I'm gonna have to stop you right here!"
Even though she understood what he said and made her blush slightly, she backed away. "Uh oh, this bad," said Pony before yelling out her next words. "Shishida, need help!"
Hearing her, Jurota broke away from Mashirao after hitting him with a right clawed strike that tore away his karate uniform and made him stumble back a few steps. "I'll be right there!" yelled Jurota with a deep voice.
But he barely took a few steps when Mashirao leapt onto his back and put him into a chokehold. "No you won't!"
"Get off me!"
Mashirao tightened his hold as much as he could while doing his best to stay on his much larger foe. "Damn it, I can't hold on forever! Kaminari, do it now!"
"You got it dude!" Denki had a large smirk form on his face while even larger stray bolts of electricity shot from him.
Pony shook from fear while remembering some bad memories that involved her getting shocked. No, not again! I don't want to get shocked again! But I'm trying to be a hero! I have to do something! Doing her best to stay in control of herself, Pony was about to launch her horns again.
But it was too late. Raising his hands above his head, Denki prepared to unleash his ultimate move. "It's time to end this! Indiscriminate Shock, one-point-two million volts!" Slamming his hands down against the ground, the strike caused his body to let loose dozens and dozens of electric bolts all over the place. They struck the others in the room and the makeshift bomb as well.
"AAAAH!"
"AAAAH!"
"AAAAH!"
Mashirao, Jurota and Pony were all struck from the electricity and the intense pain made them scream out in agony. It went on for a few more seconds until it ended and the three of them collapsed onto the floor unconscious.
"Whey!" cheered Denki while holding two thumbs up and walking a few steps before stopping and circling his thumbs up in the air before walking again. He was the only one left standing but with his ultimate move came a heavy cost. His brain had short circuited with the amount of electricity he let loose. It would take a while for his mind to reboot in a sense and until he did so, he was stuck in this…mode where he would be unable to behave properly. "Whey!" cheered Denki again while he kept doing his thing.
"HEROES HAVE BEEN KNOCKED OUT AND BOMB HAS EXPLODED! VILLAINS WIN!" came All Might's voice but nobody in the trial building heard him due to their current states.
A short while later, the two classes in the observation room were waiting for All Might to come back. He had left to go take the four students to Recovery Girl since none of them were able to get there on their own. And he needed to make sure that they'd be alright.
While he was gone, the two classes couldn't help but talk about the latest trial they just watched. They were impressed with the martial arts skills that Mashirao displayed with even Itsuka commenting on how she would like to spar with him. All of class 1A was shocked by Jurota's transformation with only two keeping their shock from being noticed. Pony's long distance strategy was praised and they even commented on how she looked really scared from the lightening. They wondered if she had any past experiences being shocked or something. The last thing they talked about was how Kaminari basically got his team the win with a sacrifice play.
They were about to argue about that due to certain people not liking how things went but then the door opened and the Symbol of Peace walked in. Taking advantage of the sudden silence, Itsuka raised her hand while speaking. "Sensei, are they alright?"
All Might nodded with a smile. "They'll be just fine. Recovery Girl will get them up in no time. Let's continue with the trials."
"What about the post trial discussion?" asked Tenya.
"Well, most of it is gonna be for them so they can improve and I'll tell them later in private. But I do have something for you." While taking a moment to gather his thoughts, his students waited for him to explain. "As you saw with this last trial, even if you think that you have the fight won, be prepared for any last ditch desperate actions. Even though I mentioned that villains help each other if within a group, they also won't hesitate to sacrifice everything just so they can win or get away. Understood?"
"Yes Sensei!" / "Yes, All Might!"
"Good. Time for the next trial."
XXXXXXXXXX H TEAMS' TRIAL XXXXXXXXXX
Heroes – Hanto Sero & Minoru Mineta
Villains – Shihai Kuroiro & Kinoko Komori
"Alright, this is good."
"Yeah, I'd like to see them get past this!"
"You know, you actually have a pretty decent quirk."
"No shit Sherlock, or I wouldn't be here!"
"Who was about to get last place in the tests?"
"Shut up! Plus, I'm not last place, remember?"
"Oh right. Wonder who's gonna join us later."
"I hope it's another hot ass girl."
"Can't argue with that. Anyways, we should get ready for the trial."
"Yeah, we should. Plus, I can't wait to see that girl in action! Did you see her? She almost looks like Uraraka! Damn, both of them have nice legs and asses and their tits aren't bad either!"
"Mineta!" snapped his partner.
Minoru looked at him with a puzzled face. "What?"
"All Might can hear us you idiot! And remember how he was annoyed with the other teams about stuff they said?!"
The short boy had a terrified look on his face before whirling his hands around nervously. "Ah, h-hey All Might! J-Just guys b-being guys, you know? W-We'll focus on the match now!" he said out loud before chuckling awkwardly.
Sero let out a long sigh. "Idiot. Let's just hope he's not too angry with us. Let's just focus on the fight." Barely a minute later and they heard their sensei start the trial. "Alright, let's get into position," said Sero and the two moved to where they planned their ambush.
Before the match started, outside the building, the hero team was discussing the best way to handle their trial. Well, more like Kinoko doing her best to communicate confidently while Shihai was having a hard time not staring at her.
"S-So what do y-you think Kuroiro?" asked Kinoko while looking at her hands that were clasped together in front of her. He's kind of scary!
Shihai didn't immediately respond due to a certain thought going through his head repeatedly. She's too cute! She's too cute! She's too cute! When she asked him if something was wrong while stuttering, he shook his head slightly. "Apologies, the abyss had taken my attention but I am back. We shall enter and be one with darkness together as you suggested."
Kinoko's eyes widened at his words. I never said that! I don't wanna be in darkness! "Ah, K-Kuroiro, I-I…"
"BATTLE TRIAL STARTS NOW!"
Interrupted by All Might that also made her jump in fright, Kinoko didn't say anything else. Even when her partner asked her in his rather peculiar way of speaking if she was alright, she just nodded and said they should start.
Entering the building, they quickly and quietly made their way through while checking everything. Kinoko did her best to stay on guard and to keep herself from getting frightened. Okay, this is it! I can do this! I want to be a hero! I just need to stay calm! She kept up her constant mental encouragements while keeping her face as serious as possible.
Shihai noticed the look on her face and he couldn't help but have his own thoughts over it. Wow, she's too cute! Even with that serious look! I can't! She's penetrating the darkness! Okay, enough! No more, have to focus! Composing himself, he went serious and spoke with his teammate. "We've checked through the lower floors and we didn't find anything. We don't want to waste too much time. I shall become one with the darkness and use its embrace to scout ahead and I'll be back soon."
"O-Okay." Kinoko watched her partner dive into the shadows and vanished from sight. She shuddered in her spot and hugged herself. "C-Creepy…" she whispered to herself. She waited about a minute when her partner came back and practically sprung from the shadow he had dived into and Kinoko let out a yelp of fright.
Realizing he scared her, Shihai took a step closer. "Apologies for frightening you. Are you alright?" he asked her. Stupid, idiot!
Kinoko took in a couple deep breaths in order to calm down. When she finally did, she looked up at her partner. "Y-Yeah, I'm f-fine. Did you find t-them?" she asked in a low tone of voice.
Realizing she was doing her best to move on, he decided to not say anything more about her being scared. "Yes. Third floor. Let's go." Leading the way, Shihai was mentally arguing with himself over scaring her while Kinoko followed him. After reaching the third floor and walking down the hallway a short distance, they carefully rounded the corner before Shihai signaled for his partner to stop. "Be cautious."
Kinoko stopped next to him and looked ahead. She could see many purple balls on the floor as well as several strands of what looked like white duct tape crisscrossing down the hallway from the walls. "How a-are we gonna g-get through?" she asked him.
"With the embrace of darkness, I shall get through. But for you, the abyss will not be kind," answered Shiahi while turning to look at her.
Kinoko shook her head. "N-No, that's okay. I'll think of s-something. M-Maybe my shrooms…" An idea came to her and her eyes lit up as she clapped her hands together. "That's it! I'll use my wonderful mushrooms to get across! It'll be shroomtastic!" she said with sudden enthusiasm and confidence.
Shihai had his eyes widen and he was staring at Kinoko as if seeing her for the first time. Her sudden change in demeanor gave him whiplash and yet, he couldn't help but feel something strongly inside. "Amazing…"
Hearing him say something, Kinoko moved her gaze to her partner and saw him staring at her in wonder. She blushed heavily and quickly went back to her shy self. "S-Sorry, didn't m-mean to be l-like that…"
"No, it's…"
"GOTCHA!"
Sudden yelling from above along with sounds of moving metal made both Shihai and Kinoko to look up and found a very small person throwing purple balls from within the ventilation shaft.
Before the two got there, Minoru had entered the ventilation shafts from the bomb room and stopped right at the start of their defenses. He waited for them to arrive so he could ambush them from above. He was ready to go when they got there but he was waiting for Sero's word. He didn't mind though, since he was using the time to stare at the brunette with his lecherous eyes.
When he finally got the go ahead from his partner, he grabbed two balls from his head and pulled them out with some pain since he was nearing his limit. He kicked the vent screen open and threw the two purple balls in his hands before reaching up to grab more and throw them.
"AMBUSH!" Shihai yelled while raising his hands to push Kinoko out of the way. Kinoko was at first startled but quickly overcame her initial shock and was now taking out her spray bottles to help her use her quirk faster.
"I DON'T THINK SO!" yelled Hanto after jumping into the building from the fire escape window and quickly started firing tape from his elbows.
Shihai was prevented from helping Kinoko and dodged the initial bombardment of purple balls and tape. He was about to dive into the nearest shadow so he could quickly get to one of their opponents. But then a piece of tape caught his foot and wrapped around his lower leg. "Shit!" yelled Shihai as he was pulled out of the shadows and slammed against the wall hard. He was then thrown against the layers of crisscrossed tape in the hallway. He became stuck from their glue like substance, suspended in the air.
Kinoko didn't have much luck either. She was able to dodge the first few purple balls and was about to counter attack. But then the other one showed up and started firing his tape at her and she became overwhelmed. A purple ball landed on her shoulder and she tried to remove it but then her hand got stuck as well. "Why's it sticky?!" she cried. While distracted, she was wrapped up with tape and prevented from moving. Losing her balance, she fell onto her side and let out a pained yelp.
"HEROES HAVE BEEN CAPTURED! VILLAINS WIN!"
"Hell yeah!"
"We won! Yes! Girls will think I'm cool now!"
Probably not, thought the other three.
"Um…ex-excuse me but can y-you please get us out of h-here?"
Both Hanto and Minoru turned to look at Kinoko with sheepish looks. Though Minoru also had some dirty thoughts go through his head at the way the brunette was all tied up. Hmm, I wonder if she likes doing bondage stuff?
"Ah, yeah sure. Sorry." With a slight blush caused by the cute brunette being tied up in a rather provocative way, Hanto moved towards her to help her out. Minoru also helped her get free after controlling his thoughts though he was very tempted to 'accidently' cop a feel but kept himself from doing so since All Might was watching. After helping her, the three of them helped Shihai get free and they returned to the observation room.
Once they were with everyone else, they spoke with their classmates who were giving them their thoughts and comments about their trial. Hanto and Minoru received praise with some even stating how they were surprised over Minoru's actions, making him become upset over how they had underestimated him. Kinoko and Shihai were consoled on their loss by most of their classmates except for a couple who were grumbling about their class losing. They all stopped and went quiet when All Might stepped inside. "Well done 'H' teams. You all did well but of course there can be improvement."
He turned first towards Minoru and Hanto. "I'm impressed that you two came up with a great defensive strategy while also taking the fight to them. Your quirks have great synergy and few would've been able to get through that area with ease." Both of them grinned at that and felt elated. "However," began All Might seriously, which made the two stop grinning. "There were things that I didn't like. Mineta!" The short purple hero in training stood straight at the sudden attention on him. "Some of your comments were not appropriate and you didn't remain focused on the trail all the time Plus, you gave away your position while yelling out 'gotcha' and made too much noise by kicking open the vent. You should learn to be quieter and do things stealthily. You have a great quirk to subdue villains without doing much damage but you won't be able to do that if you're being loud and easily distracted."
"Yes All Might! I'm sorry! I'll do better!"
Nodding, All Might turned to Hanto. "Sero, your planning and collaboration with your partner was superb. But you also took too long before springing your trap. Your opponents were just about to start on their plans. And you were also noisy just like your partner. Learn to better determine the timing of things and be more silent in your ambushes."
"I will Sensei!"
"Good." Turning to face the other team, All Might began speaking. "Kuroiro and Komori, you had a good plan in the beginning and you both seemed to work well together even though your quirks are very different. But there were some things that need to be worked on."
All Might turned to face Shihai fully. "Kuroiro, you took it upon yourself to lead and barely listened to your partner. I don't blame you too much on that since Komori seemed to be frightened but you should've tried to get her focused at the very least. You also seemed to be stuck in a trance sometimes and not paying attention. And when you were ambushed, you tried to get your partner out of the way first before acting. That's noble but you should trust in your partner since she was getting ready to act herself. That action cost you the time to use your quirk and subdue at least one of your adversaries since both were near darkened areas. That is not how a hero behaves. Learn from this and do better."
"Yes Sensei."
"Komori," started All Might as he turned to look at her now. She was looking at her feet and whirling her hands. Placing a hand on her shoulder, he waited for her to look up at him and he started speaking. "You did alright but you know you must do better. You did great in the entrance exams but you didn't display that same determination today. Why is that?" Kinoko didn't say anything but her eyes started to water a little. Noticing that, All Might decided to move on with his words so they wouldn't dwell on it. "I know that you are shy and nervous but you have potential to be a great hero. Learn to be more assertive and confident in yourself and your abilities. And don't let things bother you and keep you down. Alright?"
"Y-Yes Sensei," replied Kinoko softly before looking down at her feet again. Setsuna and Itsuka came up to her and tried to comfort her by rubbing her back and telling her that she'll get better and that they'll help her.
Smiling at that, All Might turned to his students. "Remember everyone that we all start from somewhere but the important thing is to never give up and to always do our best. Go beyond!"
"PLUS ULTRA!" said the first years.
All Might's smile grew. "Let's finish things up! Two more to go! 'I' teams, you're up!"
XXXXXXXXXX I TEAMS' TRIAL XXXXXXXXXX
Heroes – Koji Koda & Mezo Shoji
Villains – Yosetsu Awase & Sen Kaibara
"You sure this is a good idea?" asked Sen after they finished setting up their defenses.
Yosetsu smirked. "Yea, man. They won't know what hit 'em!"
"You sure? We don't know what their quirks are. And they're both kinda big man."
"It'll be fine. Haven't you heard of the bigger they are, the harder they fall?"
Sen couldn't help but snort at that. "Yeah, alright."
"Then quit your bitchin and let's do this!"
"I ain't bitchin. Let's just make sure everything's ready to go, you douche bag."
While checking on their traps and going over their plan, both Sen and Yosetsu continued trying to one up the other with their name calling. The two weren't really trying to insult each other. They were just doing so in good fun as friends would do. And the two had become good friends already, especially after hanging out together yesterday. They learned that they shared similar interests that involved heroics, games and girls. That was more than enough to quickly solidify their friendship.
After checking everything, Sen let out a breather. "Alright, everything's good to go. You ready?"
"Hell yeah!" replied Yosetsu. "Let's kick some butt, impress the girls and have some fun at the arcade with them!"
Sen nodded in agreement while grinning. "Sounds like a plan!" The two waited until they heard All Might start the match and they began their plan.
Outside the building, both Koji and Mezo were waiting for the trial to begin. At first, they had some difficulty speaking with one another since they were both the silent types. Fortunately, they quickly learned that they had to communicate in order to work together. So they discussed their quirks and how they could use them to win the match. Well, it was mostly Mezo who spoke while Koji said a few words here and there.
Mezo realized that Koji was even more of the quiet type than he was and that he was shy on top of it. He did his best to help his teammate be comfortable, which was noticed by Koji. The animal loving giant didn't want his teammate to think negatively of him and decided to get more involved. Mezo was appreciative of that and their mutual desire to help their teammate allowed them to work together and come up with a plan.
"TRIAL STARTS NOW!"
Mezo stretched out two of his arms and had a large ear form on the ends of them. Directing them towards the building, he concentrated for a little while until he heard something. "They're on the fourth floor but they're moving around. Probably have a plan of attack for us." Mezo turned to look at his partner. "You ready Koda?"
Koji gulped nervously and gave a small nod. He then took in a breath and yelled as loudly as he could. "COME TO ME MY FEATHERED FRIENDS!" Nothing happened for several seconds. Until the two of them heard it; dozens of wings flapping and they looked up towards the sky. A large flock of ravens had heard his call and were flying towards them. Thank god I was able to reach them. I didn't want to use the rats in the area. "Follow us and protect us please when needed!"
Agreeing to his request, the ravens followed after them as the two made their way inside the building. Mezo took the lead since he was tracking the other team using his quirk. "Fourth floor still. Let's go and be prepared to fight." Glancing back at Koji, he was given a nervous nod and Mezo faced forward before he started to run.
Koji hesitated before following after him and the ravens followed after him. How is he so calm and cool? Koji wondered as he did his best to keep up with Mezo. He focused on the trial and tried to keep his breathing under control.
Reaching the middle of the staircase that led to the fourth floor, Mezo stopped. Using his quirk, he listened for where they could be hiding and found their location. "They're nearby and waiting for us midway through. You ready Koji?" he asked as he glanced back.
Taking in a few deep breaths while leaning against his knees, Koji took a moment to answer back. "Y-Yeah, I am." Straightening out, he looked at the ravens with him. "Can you flush out the two waiting for us please?" he asked. Cawing in response, the flock moved passed him and Mezo as they continued up the stairs and flew down the fourth floor towards their targets.
Barely ten seconds passed until they started hearing surprised shouts and screaming from above. A short while later, the birds started screeching along with the shouting. Many loud and different sounds were then heard before the yelling stopped but the cries of the birds kept going.
Mezo and Koji exchanged looks of worry and concern before the two of them went up the stairs and entered the fourth floor. What met them made Mezo stop in his tracks with a shocked look forming on his face while Koji was horrified.
All of the ravens were cawing in distress due to the state they ended up being in, which was not a pretty sight at all. Looking like they were merged with one another or to the walls, the entire flock was grounded or up against the walls.
In the middle of them stood the two they were supposed to be battling against. Covered in scratches and claw marks, they didn't look happy at all.
"What…the fuck…was that?!" asked Sen while hunched over and breathing heavily with his entire body aching. Using his quirk to gyrate himself completely, Sen deflected the birds' attacks as much as he could but still ended up wounded.
"You sent fuckin birds after us?!" hissed Yosetsu with his hands trembling from using his quirk so much. He was thankful for Sen acting like a shield to deflect most of the damage but he had to move faster than he ever did before to stop the birds' assault.
"No! What did you do to them?!" cried Koji after seeing the ravens in such pitiful and somewhat gruesome states.
"Same thing I'm gonna do to you!" snapped Yosetsu in anger. He shot forward with surprising speed, ready to weld both of them to the wall in an instant with Sen hot on his hells.
"Koda, get us some back up!" ordered Mezo with urgency in his tone before barely being able to evade the initial strike from their opponents.
Seeing his teammate about to get overwhelmed, Koji did his best to overcome what he was feeling and stood up. He started calling out for help. "COME TO ME, MY-"
"DON'T LET HIM CALL OTHER ANIMALS! STOP HIM!" shouted Yosetsu, roaring over Koji so he wouldn't be heard. Sen broke away from Mezo and went towards Koji to keep him from calling for aid who stumbled back a few steps in surprise.
"No, you don't!" yelled Mezo as he struck Yosetsu and turned to go after Sen. But he was only able to take a couple steps when he became stuck. He stumbled and caught himself before looking down and found his foot merged with the floor. "What the hell?!"
"You can't break away," informed Yosetsu, making Mezo look at him. "I've welded your foot to the floor. There's no escaping and the only one who can free you, is me."
"Damn it!" lamented Mezo as he struggled to get free but it was no use. He then tried to strike the one who trapped him by lengthening his arms.
Yosetsu wasn't able to dodge most of the strikes but he was able to weld his arms together and then to the closest wall. "Damn…you hit…pretty hard…big guy," panted Yosetsu.
"KODA HAS BEEN CAPTURED!"
Mezo yelled in frustration and tried to get free but was unsuccessful. A moment later, he heard All Might saying that he was captured. Letting out a disgruntled sigh, he looked back towards his partner and found him wrapped up in the capture tape. "It's alright Koda. We'll get them next time," said Mezo as kindly as he could but Koji didn't respond back. Instead, he looked down at the floor, disappointed with himself.
"Hey, animal whisperer." Koji barely raised his gaze up and found the one with black hair talking to him. "Can you make your birds calm down so I can set them free? And tell them not to attack me in any way or I'll weld them to the wall again." Koji let out a sigh and did as he was asked. After freeing the birds and letting them out the building through the window, they then freed Mezo. The four of them headed back to the observation room.
Once there, they waited for All Might to come and tell them how they did. Class 1B was praising their classmates while class 1A was comforting theirs. When All Might stepped into the room, they all went silent. "Nicely done out there. Each of you impressed me but there is definite room for improvement."
He faced class 1B's team first. "Your initial strategy of preparing defenses using your quirks to make booby traps and thicker walls and doors was good. Also, you quickly adapted to the surprise attack and came out on top by working together. Kaibara, you shielded your partner from the surprise attack as much as you could while still staying in the fight. And Awase, you were able to quickly determine who the biggest threat was. You both did extremely well." Sen and Yosetsu shared a first bump over the praise but remained quiet, because they knew they had some critique coming. "The only thing I can say for you two to concentrate on for the moment is to work on your endurance. The ravens almost took you out of the fight because you became exhausted."
"Yes Sensei!" replied Sen and Yosetsu together.
Smiling at them, All Might turned to look at class 1A's team. "Koda and Shoji, you did well in the beginning. Using your quirks to scout out the other team, bringing back up and using that backup as your initial attack. All of that was good thinking." All Might fully faced the slightly taller one of the two. "Shoji, you also didn't give up until the very end and did your best to work with your partner. However, your worry for your teammate, though understandable and expected, clouded your judgment and made you act rashly. Plus, you seem to be limited in your fighting repertoire as you tend to focus on overwhelming your opponent. You must be able to adapt to faster and more agile foes."
"Understood Sensei," replied Mezo in his usual stoic tone of voice.
"Good." All Might faced Koji, who he could tell was nervous. "Koda, I understand that seeing a horrible sight made you lose your composure. But you cannot allow that to keep you from doing what needs to be done. Also, you must not rely solely on your quirk. You have an impressive physical presence and you should learn to use it properly. You should've been able to put up some fight against your opponent instead of being unable to do much. But don't worry about it too much, since we'll help you get to that point. Sound good?"
"I understand, All Might Sensei," said Koji in a low tone of voice.
All Might nodded before facing both classes. "I know many of you were also disturbed by what you saw during this last trial. All of you must be prepared for those kinds of things unfortunately. The path of a hero isn't always pleasant and sometimes, one must deal with certain things that can easily overwhelm others. You must be adaptable and be able to learn on the fly. Got it?"
"Yes All Might!" / "Yes, Sensei!"
"Good. Now, time for the final trial. J teams, you're up!"
XXXXXXXXXX I TEAMS' TRIAL XXXXXXXXXX
Heroes – Fumikage Tokoyami & Rikido Sato
Villains – Ibara Shiozaki & Nirengeki Shoda
"You sure this is a good idea?" asked Ibara.
Turning to face her, Nirengeki nodded and looked away rather quickly before replying back. "Yes. I overheard some of their classmates talking about each other's quirks during the trials. And one of the things I heard was how the one with the bird head has a sentient quirk that seems to like the darkness. Kind of like Kuroiro. If that's true, then that means being closer to the windows will be beneficial to us." He glanced at her after explaining and looked away quickly once again. I know her costume is meant to portray her faith in her religion, but why does it seem inappropriate?!
"I see." Bringing up her right hand to her chin, Ibara looked to be deep in thought and was oblivious to her partner's inner turmoil. "So you learned about a possible weakness to our adversary. And it's actually rather obvious now that I think about it. Of course anyone or anything related to the darkness would be weak under sunlight, the Lord's light." Lifting her gaze back to her partner, Ibara frowned however. "But I must say that I don't like using this knowledge against them. It seems unfair and makes me think that we're cheating in some way in this test."
"I understand but even with this being a test, it's still a battle. In the real world, we must use every advantage we can. Even if it means using unfair tactics to gain an edge," countered Nirengeki seriously while doing his best to keep his eyes from roaming while facing her.
Ibara didn't say anything for a moment before letting out a sigh and turned towards the door. Bringing up her hands in front of her chest, she held them in a prayer position and closed her eyes. "Lord, please forgive us for taking advantage of this knowledge," she said as a bright light shined down on her.
Okay, is that seriously part of her quirk? Or is her faith really being rewarded by… Nirengeki didn't finish that thought since he had a shiver go down his spine all of a sudden when Ibara stopped praying and the light faded away from her. Taking an involuntary step away that thankfully wasn't noticed by his partner, Nirengeki swallowed the spit in his mouth before facing the door. Okay, note to self; don't think of Shiozaki badly.
"I'm ready. Are you?" asked Ibara.
"Uh, yeah, I'm ready," answered Nirengeki, doing his best to remain composed after what he felt just now. "Hopefully our plan will work."
"I'm sure it will. We have God Almighty watching over us," remarked Ibara with a smile.
"TRIAL STARTS NOW!"
Not saying anything about what she said, Nirengeki focused on the beginning match instead. "Let's do this," he said and Ibara agreed, using her quirk to set up their defense.
Outside of the building, right before All Might started the trial, both Fumikage and Rikido were ready to go. They had quickly come up with a plan and were just waiting for the start of the trial. Neither wasted time with small talk and once they agreed on something, they merely waited for it to begin. As soon as it started, they sprinted towards the building.
The moment they got inside, Fumikage called upon his lifelong partner. "Dark Shadow! You know what to do!"
"Hehehe!" cackled his sentient quirk as he popped out from his abdominal area. The dark, shadowy creature flew forward with incredible speed while quickly checking for traps, the other team and for the bomb.
About a minute passed when Rikido turned to his partner. "Should we be worried?"
"No. If something happened, I would know and Dark Shadow knows what to do," answered Fumikage.
"Alright."
A short while later, Dark Shadow withdrew back to Fumikage. "Nothing on this floor, Fumi."
"As expected. Come, we go further into the abyss."
"Alright, lead the way, Tokoyami," said Rikido.
Heading up to the next floor, they had Dark Shadow check the area and when he found nothing again, they went up to the third floor. On this floor, they found opened doors and furniture blocking their path in certain places. A couple of the rooms were locked and they forced them open by breaking them but found nothing.
"They're messin with us," remarked Rikido with an annoyed tone.
"Yes, but regardless, we must go through these trials of the abyss," stated Fumikage.
"Ah, okay. Do you always speak that way?" asked Rikido.
"Don't mind Fumi, he likes being an emo edge lord," spoke up Dark Shadow, preventing his host from answering the question.
Fumikage was fortunate that his head was covered with black feathers; otherwise Rikido would've seen him blushing slightly out of embarrassment. "Do not speak of things you don't understand!" snapped Fumikage while Dark Shadow cackled.
Rikido raised an eyebrow. "Shouldn't we continue?"
"Yes, we shall! Let's go!"
Hurrying to the next floor, they did the same thing. Dark Shadow checked everywhere and they were met with the same thing. Locked doors, furniture blocking their path and still nothing. Glancing at one another, Fumikage and Rikido nodded before heading to the last floor.
Dark Shadow did his thing and after checking around and clearing a path for them at the same time, he found what they were looking for. Ah ha! They're in the middle room on the right. Going back to the two, Dark Shadow told them what he found.
Moving quickly to the room, they stopped in front of it and took a couple seconds to get ready. "Alright, we got this. Just like we planned, I'm gonna go in first and then you back me up," said Rikido and Fumikage nodded.
Fumikage had Dark Shadow get ready to follow after Rikido who was getting something from his utility belt. Taking out a pack of sugar from it, Rikido tore it open before eating the contents. Immediately, his quirk took into effect and his muscles bulged from it.
Feeling his strength increasing, Rikido pounded his fists together. "Alright! Time to take them down!" He kicked the door hard, causing it to fly off its hinges and soar into the room. Entering the room, Rikido found the villain team standing in the middle of the room with the bomb nestled in the right corner behind them. One of them was looking right at him while the other seemed to be praying while standing up. And the one who was praying had long green hair that was touching the ground. The other thing he noticed was that they were in a rather bright room due to the many large windows to his right.
Damn it, that's gonna hurt Tokoyami and his quirk. I gotta keep them from getting overwhelmed. He decided to keep an eye out while following through with the initial plan. Straightening out, Rikido spoke with as much confidence as he could. "Surrender villains!"
"No, I don't think we will," replied Nirengeki as calmly as he could but he was sweating a little out of nervousness. Ibara remained quiet though her eyes opened.
"Alright then, plan B it is," remarked Rikido before charging towards Nirengeki. He got within arms' reach of him and was about to throw a right hook when a thought entered his head; why aren't they moving?
His question was answered when he was suddenly struck by a vine from the side. "Ack!" Rikido grunted in pain while pushed to the side a short distance but he remained on his feet. He didn't notice the vine retreating back into the floor. "It's gonna take more than that to st-AAH!"
He was struck again but much harder and this time he was thrown off his feet. He landed roughly on the ground but was able to get back up quickly. Rikido glared at the two. "What the hell was that?!" he yelled at them, not knowing what he was struck with and where it came from.
"You should refrain from using such language," chastised Ibara with narrowed eyes. "You can't beat us. Now where's your partner?"
"RIGHT HERE!"
Dark Shadow shot towards Ibara from the doorway with his right claw readied for a strike. Nirengeki shouted in alarm but Ibara was still composed and unmoving from her spot. When there was barely a few feet distance between them, multiple vines shot up from the floor and wrapped around the charging shadow creature.
"Creature of the night, you have no power here! You can't fight against the Lord's light!" declared Ibara with conviction.
"Get off me!" roared Dark Shadow as he struggled to get free while being moved towards the windows where the light was strongest.
"Dark Shadow!" yelled Fumikage in concern, realizing that they know his quirk's weakness to light. "Come back to me!" he ordered but the sentient quirk was struggling to get free.
"Damn it, hold on!" shouted Rikido as he ran to free the shadowy creature.
"No cursing!" chastised Ibara while having her vine like hair shoot up from beneath the floor.
Rikido dodged most of the vines but one was able to grab onto his right arm. "Aaaggh!" Pulling with all his might, Rikido was able to get free and kept going to free his comrade. But then another few vines shot up from the floor and tried to strike him. Evading the first two, Rikido was struck by another from the left this time. A second later, an even stronger attack struck him that sent him stumbling away. "Seriously, what the hell is going on?!"
"Language!"
"Maybe I'll explain it later," remarked Nirengeki.
"Oh, you think you're being smart huh?!" Not waiting for an answer, Rikido dashed towards Nirengeki who took up a fighting stance. But he was barely able to go a short distance when vines wrapped around his feet, causing him to trip. "Oouf!" grunted Rikido as he fell face first onto the ground.
Before he could get up, multiple vines sprung up around him from the floor and wrapped around him. Pressed into the floor with his arms and legs forcibly spread apart, Rikido wasn't able to use his enhanced strength to get free. "This…won't…stop…m-"
"SATO HAS BEEN CAPTURED!"
Rikido let out a disappointed sigh after hearing All Might's voice. Well, this sucks, he thought as he waited to see what happened next. But he had a feeling it wasn't going to end in his team's favor.
Because during all this time, Dark Shadow struggled to get free from the vine trap and wasn't listening to Fumikage anymore since he was both furious and embarrassed over being subdued so easily. And the fact that he was under direct sunlight from the windows, Dark Shadow wasn't able to use anywhere near his full power and strength. But he wouldn't give up. I can't stop! I have to keep going! For Fumi!
Ibara couldn't help but be impressed over how the dark creature was struggling still. "You're strong, entity of darkness. But the Lord is stronger!" declared the faithful young woman. More vines shot up from the floor and wrapped around Dark Shadow as well as Fumikage who couldn't react in time to evade them. Both of them were pulled to the floor and prevented from moving.
"TOKOYAMI HAS BEEN CAPTURED! VILLAINS WIN!"
After All Might declared the trial over, Ibara released her prisoners. Fumikage and Rikido got back up onto their feet while Dark Shadow retreated back to his host. But before he went back into his body, he turned around and locked his gaze onto the green haired girl. "I'll get you next time!" Without waiting for a response, Dark Shadow disappeared inside Fumikage.
"Are you not worried that creature of darkness might take over you?!" she asked him with worry.
Cocking an eyebrow up, Fumikage glanced at Rikido who shrugged in response. Letting out a sigh, he returned his gaze to Ibara. "No, for we are one. Dark Shadow has always been there for me and though his powers grow under the embrace of darkness, he will never intentionally hurt or betray me." Without waiting for her reply, Fumikage turned and left the room with Rikido following with him.
Ibara was stunned at his answer. She wanted to say something else but couldn't since Father John's words echoed in her mind at that moment. Remembering what he said about having an open mind about things, she let out a sigh and looked at her partner. "Should we go?" she asked.
"Yeah, let's go," replied Nirengeki.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
When they were finally back in the observation room, just like with the other teams, they were greeted with their classmates. Given comments and praise over their performance, they conversed with them for a little until the door to the connected room opened. Quieting down, they all turned to face their teacher who walked up to the final teams.
"Alright 'J' teams, you did well. Both teams worked well within their groups and I'm glad that you acted seriously in your roles." All Might turned to face Ibara and Nirengeki. "Your agreement to stay with the bomb and just play defensively was a good plan as well as staying calm in the face of advancing opposition." He turned to Nirengeki. "You did well by using information gained in advance of facing your adversary, which was a good tactic. And you capitalized using your quirk to remotely attack the other team after Shiozaki's attacks. However, you waited on your partner to do most of the work. You shouldn't rely on others for everything since anyone can be overwhelmed. What would you do then, if they were taken out of the fight?" finished All Might with a question.
Nirengeki nodded. "I understand All Might. I'll work on coming up with something."
"Good." All Might moved to Ibara. "Shiozaki, you handled the heavy lifting and you did superbly. The control, technique and strength of your vine like hair is amazing." Ibara smiled at that and she was about to say something when he cut her off unknowingly. "However, you shouldn't remain in one spot all the time. If either of your adversaries was able to get close to you, you would've been in trouble since both of them could've overwhelmed you. Try to move around some. Also, have a backup plan in case you do get cornered."
"Thank you All Might for your wise words. I shall work on my shortcomings," stated Ibara, deciding to let go of the question she wanted to ask.
Smiling at her, the Symbol of Peace walked towards the other team and stopped in front of them. "Tokoyami and Sato, as far as teamwork goes, you both did well. Both of you communicated with each other and quickly came up with a plan. You also used your quirks wisely." He faced Rikido before continuing. "I applaud your attitude in trying to protect and help your teammate but that also opened you up to attack and led you to become captured. You must be aware of what's going on around you all the time." Rikido nodded slowly while having an expression of extreme exhaustion. "Are you alright?" asked All Might in worry.
"Yes…Sensei. It's just…after using my quirk…I experience a crash," explained Rikido, taking a couple more breaths before continuing. "The more sugar I use…the stronger the crash after. I didn't…use too much…so I'll be alright in a bit."
"I see. If you need anything however, let me know." Rikido nodded and All Might smiled before looking at Fumikage. "Tokoyami, you also used your quirk wisely, having Dark Shadow check for you while you remained out of harm's way. However, you rely too much on him. And you also remain stationary while having him do things for you. That is no good. Learn to be active and to do things yourself."
Fumikage nodded. "I will All Might."
Smiling at the raven headed student, All Might walked to be in front of both classes and stood in front of them all in the center of the room. He planted both his fists on either side of his waist and smiled his signature smile. Opening his mouth to say something, he was prevented from doing so when the observation room door opened.
All Might and both classes turned to the door and saw four people walk in. Mashirao, Denki, Pony and Jurota walked in. Three of the four looked to be well while the fourth had droopy eyelids. Even though the school nurse helped Denki recover as much as he could, the stamina cost and overusing his quirk left him feeling pretty exhausted.
The four were welcomed back by their classmates. After some quick exchanges made between them that consisted of comments on their battle trial and some jokes made on Denki's expense, they all finished up when All Might cleared his throat loudly. Quieting down, both class 1A and 1B went silent as they faced the Symbol of Peace.
"Welcome back," said All Might facing the four and making the returning students smile slightly. "I'll give your trial analysis now but it'll be quick since we're running short on time." Understanding that, they nodded and didn't argue. Well, I'm running short on time but they don't need to know, thought All Might, glad that they weren't being pushy about it. "Both teams did well in working together. Use of your quirks and planning together was great. All of you kept going till the end. Nicely done."
Denki, Mashirao, Pony and Jurota all felt happy over the praise but didn't get too excited since they knew the drill. "However, there's some notes I'd like to make. Shishida, you smashed through a wall instead of using other openings, like the door or windows. What if it was a support wall and you going through it, caused the ceiling to collapse? Tsunotori, you did well but then got frightened due to your opponent's electricity. If it's because of natural fear or bad experience, you must work to overcome it. Ojiro, I don't have much for you except to be more aware of your teammates' actions and surroundings so they don't go overboard. And Kaminari, your actions brought victory but at a cost. You must learn to use your electricity better so you don't short circuit and find new ways to implement them so you have more options. Understood?" he asked them all.
"Yes Sense!" / "Yes All Might!"
"Good." All Might turned to face all of his students once more. "Alright you zygotes, you all did well for the most part. I'm very proud and even though there were mistakes made, this is why you're here. To learn. To get stronger. And ultimately, to become great heroes in the future. So go beyond…"
"PLUS ULTRA!" shouted all the students in the room.
All Might smiled widely at them. "Good. And that's it for today. I'll have reports ready for your homeroom teachers and they will have access to your battles since everything was recorded." Some of the students there became nervous, wondering what their homeroom teacher would do and say to them after viewing their trials. "Go ahead and head back to the locker rooms, change out of your costumes and head on home. We'll see you tomorrow. And now I must leave before I'm…"
"Sensei!"
All Might stopped talking and looked at the one who interrupted him. "What is it, Iida?"
"Weren't you supposed to tell us about our classmate who's not here if everyone did well? Didn't we do well enough to get answers now?" he asked, reminding everyone about that.
"Hey, that's right!"
"I completely forgot about that."
"We did good right?"
"So you'll tell us?"
"Well, who is it?"
"Are they a guy or a girl?"
"Why haven't they joined us yet?"
Seeing most of his students firing off question after question, All Might was stunned. "Alright everyone, quiet down!" Going silent at once, they waited for him to say something. Glancing at his watch, All Might grimaced internally. Shit, I only have about fifteen minutes left. But they did do good. Well mostly, but there was some issues…I think a compromise is in order.
Turning his gaze back to his students, All Might started speaking. "Alright, I did say that. Even though you mostly did well, there were some…issues and mistakes that shouldn't have been done. So, I will only answer some of your questions and only for the next few minutes." Some of them grumbled about that while others commented that seemed fair. "Okay, who's first?" he asked.
Minoru shot his hand into the air and spoke without waiting. "Are they a girl?" he asked.
"No, male," he answered and Minoru grumbled about that.
"What's his name?" asked Mina as she raised her hand.
All Might shook his head. "Sorry, but that's one of the questions I won't answer."
Mina pouted but before she could say anything else, Neito asked a question with his hand raised. "What's his quirk?" he asked.
"Nope, can't answer that either. It won't be fair since you all know each other's but he doesn't know any of yours," explained All Might and most of them accepted that.
Neito frowned at that however but then Tsuyu spoke up. "Is he strong, kero?"
All Might nodded. "Yes."
"How strong?" asked Tetsutetsu.
A large smile spread on All Might's face. "Very." That answer caused several of them to glance at one other and even comment about his answer to each other. Finding another person with their hand raised, All Might almost missed them since she was shorter than most of her classmates who surrounded her. "Yes, Komori?"
"I-If he's strong, w-why isn't he h-here?" she asked.
The whispering and comments between the other students stopped and they all turned their attention onto the number one hero. All Might let out a long sigh before answering. "It's because he got heavily injured the day before UA started."
"How'd he get injured?" asked Hanto.
All Might didn't answer right away since an image that would haunt him all his life popped up into his mind at that moment. He willed it away and refocused on the first years in front of him. "He was injured thanks to a dangerous villain who could manipulate matter itself that he happened to cross paths with. He was able to subdue the villain long enough for a pro to show up but was stabbed through the abdomen with a concrete spike."
Shocked yelps and surprised gasps were let out by several while some even let out a curse or two after hearing that. "Is he alright?" asked Ibara with concern, even though she didn't know him.
"Yes, he's recovering in the hospital. He's doing well but it'll be some time before he can join us," said All Might. Even though they didn't know who he was, several of the students let out relieved sighs, glad to hear that their future classmate was alright.
A few of them however, had a different thought. And one of them spoke up. "Why the hell would someone who's barely starting their hero training at UA, even if they have a strong quirk, get into a fight with a villain like that and get injured so heavily?" questioned Togaru.
Before All Might could answer, another did. "Because he's a dumbass, that's why!" snapped Katsuki, making everyone look at him with some sporting astonished expressions on their faces. Even All Might was stunned into silence over what he just said. "If he has such a strong quirk but can't handle a petty villain like that, then he shouldn't even be trying to be a hero! I bet if I was there, I would've destroyed that villain without-"
"Enough." Katsuki went quiet at once. He and everyone else in the room had their gaze locked onto the Symbol of Peace due to the serious tone of voice he just used. He was looking directly at Katsuki who couldn't help but feel an overwhelming weight being pressed down on him. And so did everyone else there. "Insulting and down playing another's actions for trying to do the right thing is not something a true hero would do, young Bakugo."
Katsuki swallowed the spit that accumulated in his mouth with difficulty and was barely able to nod. Immediately after he did that, the overwhelming feeling of pressure vanished. That allowed him and the other first years to let out a relieved breath.
Calm down Toshi. They don't know and they're still young even if they are considered adults now. "I apologize. I just don't like it when people are bad mouthed by others for trying to do the right thing." The first years in front of him remained silent, with many thinking about how frightening the Symbol of Peace could be. All Might let out a sigh before continuing. "And as for the villain, he was anything but petty. Even a seasoned pro would've had trouble against him."
That information made them break the silence with several commenting on that. One of them put their hand up into the air as she spoke. "If that's true, why even get involved with the villain? Shouldn't he have just called the emergency line and let the police and heroes know?" asked Itsuka.
Right as All Might was about to answer, the door to the observation room opened with someone shouting his name. "All Might!"
The number one hero and his students turned to face the new arrival and found it to be Nemuri Kayama, aka Midnight. Several of the guys from both classes couldn't help but stare at the rather provocatively dressed woman as she went straight to their heroics instructor. A few of the girls, namely Mina and Setsuna, were taking notes on how the mature woman moved.
"What is it?" asked All Might.
"Your phone! Pick it up, damn it!" snapped Nemuri with a growl, surprising everyone there with her less than respectful tone to the number one hero. "I've been calling you the last fifteen minutes!"
Tilting his head slightly, All Might brought out his phone as he spoke. "What's going on? You know that I'm teaching a class right now so I had it on silent so it wouldn't bother us. If there was an emergency, you could've contacted me through the PA system." Nemuri opened her mouth to say something but then stopped and closed her mouth. "You forgot, didn't you?" he asked her with a slight smirk.
Several sniggers and chuckles were let out by the students. "Quiet!" snapped Nemuri as she looked at them, making them go silent at once though her cheeks reddened from the embarrassment. She turned to face All Might again. "Just look at your phone!"
Looking at his phone, All Might's eyes widened. So many missed calls and messages?! And some from Aizawa?! Yeah, he's pissed. "Is this about Aizawa being angry about…"
"No but that's another day's problem," interrupted Nemuri.
"So what else could it…" All Might trailed off as he scrolled through his notifications. Aizawa. Gran Torino. Aizawa. Aizawa. My secretary. Nezu. Aizawa. Inko. Nemuri. Nem… He stopped reading as his brain just registered whose name he read and his eyes widened.
All thirty nine of the students there noticed the expression on the number one hero's face and they all wondered what could've caused that.
The R rated heroine realized he found her missed voicemail due to his expression and she gestured to his phone while speaking. "Well, what she say? She called me too saying she tried to call you and left a voicemail but her phone died before I could find out what she wanted to say."
Glancing at her, All Might then faced his phone again before selecting the voicemail that Inko had left, started the playback and placed the phone against his ear.
"Hey Toshi, I'm sorry for calling you during the day. You're probably teaching your class right now. But I wanted to keep my promise of letting you know if something changes. And something did change. And it's something good! You won't believe it, but Izuku's awake! He woke up all by himself! Even Recovery Girl was shocked and couldn't believe it. She even said that he's healthy and doing great!"
A few happy half-sobs mixed in with some chuckles were heard for a little bit before Inko continued speaking.
"She said that he could even attend UA by the end of the week if everything continues like this! I'm so happy! And Eri is practically glued to his side. I can't blame her though since he saved her from that awful villain. Such a sweet child and she's opened up to him and a little to me too! Anyway, I just wanted to let you know cause I promised to keep you updated. I know you're busy so whenever you can, feel free to visit since I know Izuku will be happy to see you. Okay, I'll talk to you later. Have fun teaching your first class and good luck!"
A beep was heard after her last words, signifying the end of the voicemail and All Might was frozen for a moment, thinking about what he just learned.
"Well? What she say?!" asked Nemuri again.
All Might slowly turned his gaze towards Nemuri. "We gotta go," he answered. Not waiting for a response from her, All Might went up to her while speaking. "Alright everyone, that's it for today. We'll see you tomorrow." Without another word, All Might picked up Nemuri who yelped at the sudden action but didn't stop him and the next second, they practically vanished from sight as he sprinted away.
Class 1A and class 1B were momentarily stunned over what they just saw. Until they snapped out of it and glanced at one another. Some shrugged, others made comments and few made jokes about it all with some of them being rather inappropriate that made several from both classes give disappointed looks over it. Soon enough, they began heading out of the room with most of them chatting amongst themselves, having becoming friendly with each other thanks to the trials they just had together. Only a handful didn't participate in the conversations as they all left.
Well, almost all of them. One had remained behind in the room with a shell shocked look on her face while frozen in place. Many thoughts were flowing through her mind and she was feeling so many different emotions that she couldn't process any of it.
She was still stuck like that when a group of girls came back into the room about a minute later and called out to her. Hearing her name made her finally snap out of it that led her to realize something and that made her react. Dropping to her knees, she clapped her hands to her mouth to stifle her sobs and her eyes started letting out tears.
"JIROU!" shouted the girls, moving quickly to her and knelt beside her.
"What's wrong?" asked Mina worriedly.
"Are you alright?" questioned Toru softly.
"Did somebody say or do something to you?" asked Tsuyu seriously.
"You can tell us. We're here for you," stated Ochaco in a supportive tone.
Kyoka closed her eyes in a vain attempt to prevent more tears from escaping before she hunched over a little bit while within the girls' embrace. She didn't care that they saw her like this because there was something else that was much more important right now. Something that she just learned recently thanks to her quirk. And while the girls around her tried to find out what happened and help her, Kyoka kept thinking the same thing over and over.
Midoriya…it was Midoriya!
Author's Notes - So what you guys think? We finally have the battle trials done and both classes got some info about the missing classmate with Kyoka being the only one knowing who they are and why they're not here. Stay tuned to see what happens next. There'll be another chapter focusing on everyone before the next one brings the focus back onto Izuku for the moment. Remember to review, fav and follow!
Also, the next chapter, chapter 11, is already up for pa tre on members! I'd really appreciate it if you can become a member and if not, that's fine. You'll just have to wait longer to read. To become a member, just add /silentplayermc03 to the end of pa tre on's website.
Also, the writing has started for "Tale of the Forsaken" and editing has continued for "The Blue Spirit". One last note, maps and outlines have been started on my all original story. So there's a lot of work that I'm doing and working on multiple projects at the same time because apparently my brain is wired that way.
Also, I would greatly appreciate if you can take some time and answer the questions on my profile with a PM. It would help a lot and thank you in advance.
Hope all is well, that I hear from you all and take care!
