Request Cave
Now Brad started his day by going to the Bulletin Board. Now Brad took five jobs for the journey which he thought would be enough for the journey. One was to defeat a Vulpix that was bullying passing trainers. Another one was to bring a item to a trainer that was deep in the cave. The third was to clear debris from the cave so that trainers could pass more easily. The last two was to defeat outlaws. There were two separate out laws in the cave that they needed brad to capture, and force teleport them either to Kirkland or Wheeler. He only brought his Eevee that he got from Kimber back in Bonham. He had not really trained it yet. So he thought that the cave would be a great situation to train the Eevee, and catch multiple different Pokémon in the cave.
Brad got to the entrance of the cave and there was the Vulpix without even trying Brad had got his first task. Vulpix jumped off the rock that he was sitting on and used ember at Brad. That is when Eevee used quick attack to fight back. Vulpix was caught off guard because most trainers just fled into the cave. That is when the Vulpix used wil-o-wisp. This made Eevee feel the burn. That is when Eevee got close with quick attack and threw Vulpix on its back with a bite attack. In the moment that Vulpix was stunned by this Eevee used sand attack to rub in the loss. Vulpix started to shoot Ember everywhere, and Eevee easily dodged all the attacks that were coming for it. That is when Eevee hit quick attack again on Vulpix. Which made it fall down and Vulpix seemed like it was going to faint. The sand fell out of the eyes of Vulpix and kept attacking Eevee. Vulpix broke out with flamethrower attack. Eevee jumped through the attack and landed a quick attack on Vulpix. Now Vulpix got up very slowly and used quick attack on Eevee. Eevee caught on and countered with its own quick attack. This worked about as well as it could have worked with both Pokémon falling over, and looking worse for the wear. Finally Eevee got up, but Vulpix did not get up. Brad threw a Pokeball, and captured Vulpix.
Now Brad walked into the cave and immediately got ransacked by Zubat. Now Brad thought that he wanted to use his new Vulpix and Eevee on this horde of Pokémon. The Zubat numbered twenty Brad thought it was fair to use two Pokémon. Brad used Vulpix to take down some Zubat with flamethrower attack. Eevee weaved in and out with quick attack, and knocked out three Zubat. Then one of the Zubat landed a confusion ray on Eevee. Which made Eevee jump in and out the flamethrower attack of Vulpix. Which made Eevee to eventually get knocked out, but all of the Zubat were eventually defeated. Brad caught two of the Zubat for his living Pokédex.
The Brad walked for a long time in the cave without being attacked. He saw this trainer that was probably ten years older than he was. Then he noticed him from the item need on the bulletin board. "Hey, I heard you ordered a antidote. The way out of the cave is this way. I brought this extra map for you as well." The trainer was ecstatic "Thank you for the map, and the antidote. When I left from Kirkland, I did not grab a map from the Trainer Club. I was trying to get out of Kirkland if you know what I mean." Brad laughed one solid laugh and said, "Yeah I put Phoenix's head in a Charizard I was so mad at him." The man looked at him with great concern because that was a wild statement to make. Brad gave him the context of what happened in Kirkland, and the man was glad that Phoenix had been sent to prison for his evil deeds. Brad asked "Hey why did you need the antidote anyways?" The man said "My team was attacked by a horde of Zubat that poisoned my Pokémon. I really need a full restore. I am trying to make it to Wheeler for my Pokémon journey." Brad joked "Why did you leave without enough provisions? That is crazy man! Hey just remember next time to make sure that you prepare for your journey correctly. I do not want to have to come save you again." Brad might have felt a bit to self-righteous in this save. The two guys left ways, and Brad continually thought about the man that did not fully prepare for his journey into a cave.
Now after this Brad put up a hologram of the map through the cave up on the match. It seemed like one of the outlaws that he was meant to face was near where he currently was. He went around the corner and this bald man was talking to himself. "I must find the treasure. I must. I must. I must find the treasure." Brad then said "Hey may I ask what treasure you are looking for?" That is when the man used his Parasect. That is when Brad used his Zubat. Brad started the battle off with a swift attack. Parasect started to run but Swift cannot miss so the stars followed Parasect. Then Zubat hit Parasect with two wing attacks. Parasect used poison powder but that did not affect Zubat. Parasect was soundly defeated with another wing attack. Then the outlaw said "I am going to use the Pokémon I use to dig for treasure. I love treasure. Treasure. Treasure. Treasure." The outlaw tried to get Sandslash to use rollout on the Zubat, but Zubat kept using air cutter to knock the Sandslash away. Every time the Sandslash attacked it landed on his back. Finally, the Sandslash fainted, and Brad sent out a call to the Trainer Club in Kirkland. That is when a teleport squad came in and took the outlaw back to Kirkland.
Now Brad found the obstacles that were in everyone's way. He saw that the obstacle was a combo of plants that went from the ceiling to the floor. That is when Brad used Zubat to cut the plants up, Eevee put the vines into a pile, and Vulpix used flamethrower to destroy the vines. Unfortunately some rocks had fallen which made it impossible to pass through to Wheeler. A group of Diglett passed by, and Brad used air cutter to knock all ten of the Pokémon. Brad caught two of the Diglett. When the two Diglett had been healed Brad used it to destroy the many rocks by digging through them. After the rocks were cleared the team had just a little way to go before they made it to the next town of Wheeler.
The light from the fire attracted a Venonat. The Venonat attacked Zubat because it was its natural prey. Unfortunately for the Venonat, Zubat had grown to be a strong Pokémon. Zubat used air cutter to get the Venonat off of itself. Venonat attacked back with a confusion attack. It was a very hard-fought battle between the two with many super effective hits. Venonat then used a psybeam attack that nearly defeated Brad's Zubat. Then Zubat started to glow, and it evolved into Golbat. It was not a battle after the evolution. One hit with air cutter and Venonat fainted and was caught by Brad.
Now Brad was about to exit the cave, but Brad was wondering where the last outlaw was. He was feeling confident that he had helped people, and he caught a lot of Pokémon. Right before the exit Brad saw a scientist and the scientist was mumbling to himself. "I have to learn about these Pokémon. I am doing experiments on these Pokémon. I think that we will gain a lot knowledge from this experiment." It looked like he was just hurting his Pokémon and abusing them.
The scientist started off with a Muk. Brad used his Venonat. Venonat started with psybeam attack. The psybeam attack was brutal towards the Muk. Even though the scientist abused his Pokémon they still seemed to fight by his sided. When Muk used sludge bomb Venonat jumped out of the way of the attack. Then a explosion of psychic power hit Muk with a confusion attack. Muk used minimize to make it harder for Venonat to hit. Then Venonat got Muk with another psybeam. Muk got even smaller, and Venonat still hit its target. The little eyes in Venonat's eyes made it easier to hit the Muk when it got even smaller. Finally, Muk got so small that after a confusion attack the little Muk fainted, and was unable to battle. Its trainer met the Muk with a slew of expletives. He was not happy that Muk lost the battle with what he called a common Venonat.
Then the scientist use a really weak Nidoking. Venonat used psybeam attack which knocked the Nidoking down. It was not a battle that Brad could really stomach. It was hard for him to battle a Pokémon that was already weak. The Nidoking charged for a weak Megahorn attack, but Venonat put Nidoking into the dirt with a confusion attack. While it was on the ground Venonat used psybeam on the back of Nidoking. After that attack Nidoking fainted.
The next Pokémon was a weak Arbok. Venonat then used Psybeam to hit the Arbok. The Arbok used poison tail, but it was not nearly as effective. Then Brad saw the massive scar it looked surgical. Then brad realized that the mad scientist had cut the head of the Arbok from the body. The Arbok had grown back its entire body, and even grown back some of its tail. That is when Venonat hit Arbok with confusion right beneath the head. It was not like Venonat knew what it was doing when Brad gave the order. Arbok fainted from the pain. The scientist said "My rehabilitation had not exactly worked for that Arbok. I might need to get rid of him." After he said this Venonat evolved into Venomoth.
Brad returned the Venomoth to his Pokeball because he thought that his new buddy Diglett would like to battle. That is when the scientist used his Weezing. The scientist cackled with laughter because he knew that Diglett's attack would not be effective against his Weezing because of Weezing had levitate ability. That is when Diglett started to use scratch by rubbing his hard body against Weezing. Now Weezing used toxic against Diglett, but Diglett burrowed underground with dig. Then Weezing used belch which still did not do anything because Diglett was still underground. Now the scientist was frustrated because he could not hit Diglett. He was cursing his Weezing. He was talking bad about Brad, and Diglett. He was saying things that in general inappropriate for a ten-year-old boy to here. That is when the mad scientist did it. Weezing used explode and that is how Diglett beat out the Weezing.
Then the scientist used Magneton. This Magneton did not have levitate awkwardly enough. Brad has not seen many Magneton that did not have levitate. Now this is when Diglett chose to finish the dig attack, and that was a great attack against the Magneton. That is when Diglett use magnitude on the Magneton. The power of the magnitude was a ten which knocked out the Magneton.
Finally the scientist used Grimer of a different color. It was green, and seemed like something that you would not find in this region. "I caught this Pokémon on vacation I was studying its difference from one Grimer from Manji." That Grimer was not much of a threat to Diglett. A magnitude attack to Grimer was all that was needed to take out the special Grimer. Now when the Grimer had fallen the call went out to the teleport squad. He was sent back to Kirkland. After that Brad heard a Pokémon cry "Trio. Trio. Trio." Apparently Diglett evolved into a Dugtrio after the battle during the drama of teleporting the bad mad scientist.
Now Brad made it out of the cave and went straight to the Trainer's Club. Before night fell all of the four had made it to the Trainer Club. Now the children discussed how many tack they had been able to complete, and how many Pokémon they got. Hayden and Michael had both captured two Pokémon. While Kimber caught three Pokémon. Brad said it depends on how the group wants to count it. He captured two Diglett, and two Zubat. Did the evolution count as two Pokémon. They decided it would only count for Diglett, and Zubat but not Venonat since he did not catch two. So, Brad got Vulpix, Diglett, Dugtrio, Zubat, Golbat, and Venomoth. Hayden did three tasks for the people in the cave. Michael had done eight good tasks for the people of the cave. Finally, Kimber did six good tasks for the people of the cave. So, with all of the Pokémon, and task done Brad and Michael were seen as the winners. Kimber gave Brad and Michael an item. Brad got a fire stone from her. With much encouragement for all of the party Brad evolved Vulpix into Ninetales. Now the whole group knew that this was a major step for Brad to defeat his fear of the bad things that happened to him in the past. The Ninetales immediately touched brad nuzzling its head into his arms. It seemed like a very friendly interaction between trainer and Pokémon. This was a milestone that the group would never forget because it was leap forward for Brad.
Ninetales Trail
Then Brad decided that he would go back to the cave with only his Ninetales. When explaining this to his friends he wanted to gain understanding of the thing that he feared. He had decided that he wanted to use his new Ninetales to defeat the gym in Wheeler. Brad took multiple different tasks to help out the local people in the cave system.
First Brad went to the part of the cave that needed debris cleared this was simple enough. Ninetales used flamethrower on the vines that grew up in the caves. Brad worked hard with Ninetales. This led to a understanding that Ninetales could work hard, and be a useful Pokémon to have. Brad grew in friendship with Ninetales through the hard work that they did together. Brad fed Ninetales when they were done and even played a game of fetch.
Then a young boy ran by and looked like the outlaw that was on Brad's task request. That is when Ninetales galloped up to the boy and caught it in a fire spin attack. It was simple enough for Brad when he caught up. Brad learned that Ninetales could detain a person or Pokémon with near accuracy. That is when the kid used a Rattata to attack Brad. The Rattata used quick attack to hurt Ninetales. Ninetales returned the attack with flamethrower defeating Rattata. That is when the kid in tears used Drowzee. The Drowzee did not look interested in fighting Brad. That is when Ninetales used flamethrower on Drowzee. The kid explained that he stole Drowzee to make his team better. Brad called the teleport squad and sent him to Wheeler.
After the outlaw was reprimanded by Brad. He found the Rhyhorn that was supposedly rampaging. Ninetales trapped the Rhydon with fire spin. Then Ninetales used Psyshock to hit Rhyhorn for special attack damage. Then the Rhyhorn galloped out of the fire spin with a bulldoze attack. When Rhyhorn got close Ninetales jumped up and walked right over Rhyhorn. When Ninetales jumped off of the Rhyhorn one of Ninetales tails grazed Rhyhorn. After the attack Rhyhorn fell down and looked very tired. That is when Ninetales used Psyshock to defeat and capture Rhyhorn.
Now Brad was relaxing at a underground lake. He had found it after the battle with Rhyhorn. A Exeggcute walked up to Brad. The Exeggcute started to seed bomb Brad. That is when Brad told Ninetales to go for it. That is all that was needed for Ninetales to defeat the Exeggcute. Brad captured the Exeggcute after that. Then a Psyduck walked up behind Brad and saw some Pokeballs. That is when the Psyduck hit the center button on the Pokeball and got captured. Brad laughed because he was not expecting to catch three Pokémon today. That is when Brad called it a day and went back to the Trainer Club.
The Dream
Brad took Ninetales out of its Pokeball and chose to do some enrichment with Ninetales. So he first fed Ninetales a hearty meal. Then Brad got a ball and played fetch with the Ninetales. Then Brad started to scratch the head of Ninetales. The Ninetales thoroughly enjoyed all of the attention that his master was giving him. Now Brad was starting to understand that all of one species of Pokémon were not to be feared just because of just one of the species. Brad played and played with his Ninetales. Then Ninetales playfully tackled Brad. The Pokémon put its head on Brad's head an nuzzled its head to his. The Pokémon seemed to really like Brad. That is when something happened. Ninetales grabbed Brad's leg with one of its tails.
Brad was whisked away to a world that was not unlike his own, but thousands of years in the past. Now the building was made of wood, and the people had no Pokeballs. There was not tech, but many a good time around the fire. People were using wagons to move. They would use swords, and bows to fight. Some fortunate few bonded with Pokémon to do their battles that way but this was not as common in this day. Brad thought about how much he would have disliked living in this day because he truly loved his Pokémon companions.
In this day their seemed to be an abundance of grass Pokémon some that Brad had never seen before. Now the grass Pokémon were tormenting the towns people. It was a siege, but the townspeople did not starve because the grass Pokémon fed them the food that they grew. The townspeople did not like the grass Pokémon though because they were not allowed to explore the countryside, and all that they could do is live in the city. Cities were quite fun sometimes, but the people believed that they would have better health living outside of the city.
Nine sages met at the wall of their city. They had met to discuss what was going to be done about the siege. The men talked about all of their options. "We have forty swords. We also have arrows and bows. We could rain down a arrows on our enemies. Then we can take the swords and fight the ones that are left." said the first sage. The next one said "How do we even know that that the Pokémon are evil. Follow me here they feed us. They keep us from the dangers that come from the countryside. We have greatly learned about science while in this sort of lockdown. We should keep this going until the day that we have the power to use these Pokémon comes." Another said "Ha Cornelius I know you love doing your experiments but there is more to life than just your books and learning. I think that we need to win battles, romance women, and be great men." Cornelius chuckled "I do not know what about that is so great. It is just what you father. grandfather, and all your ancestors have done to be so great."
Now Cornelius stood up and said "Even though you jeer at my studying and hard work. I have done I have found a way to capture the Pokémon that have kept us captive. With this item we will be able to capture the Pokémon that entrap us and make it easier to befriend Pokémon. So, all of that fighting will be a lot easier when we have the Pokémon by our side. We will have Pokémon help us and live beside us." Another man said "Do you think that is safe/ we have seen Pokémon take down many different armies. Back in our homeland we were defeated by that one that says Salemance. We lost one hundred men to trying to defeat the Pokémon. What are we going to do." Cornelius said "Well I have an answer for that to but some of you might not like the idea. In this myth it was clear that if we dedicate our lives to this gem, we can become a force to defeat the grass Pokémon outside." This is when he produced the gem from his robe.
The men seemed skeptical that the gem would make them a fighting force. "Oh, a pretty little jewel is going to save all of us now is it." The other men asked questions to Cornelius. "How does it work?" "What does it mean that we have to devote our lives to this gem?" The men all agreed that it was not worth the risk at this point. They were not ready to leap into something that they could not get themselves out of. Now one man said that Cornelius was such of a little coward that he would never make anything of himself. This is when the man saw a Exeggutor and thought that it would be quite brave to fight the Exeggutor with his sword. He ran at it with his shield up which made the seed bomb attack unaffected against him. As the mad was about ten yards away from the Exeggutor it used psychic to control the man. The Exeggutor made the man punch himself multiple times in a row. Then the man pushed him against the wall. Then the man ran inside the gate of the town. He was very afraid of Exeggutor now. All of the men started to change their tone about Cornelius's ideas. That is when they all were interested in the gem's power, and what it might do.
Cornelius explained first the item that would let them capture the Pokémon. He suggested the nine sages would get together and name people to use this device. It was not certain that at what cost the sages would have to give their lives. They all agreed that the myth made it sounds like they would not be able to use what Cornelius called a Pokeball. So all of the men spent one hundred days building a stock of Pokeballs to be used upon the Pokémon.
Then the day came for them to do the spell to give them the power to defeat the grass Pokémon. The man came together when the sun stood high in the sky. They took out a knife and cut the palms of their hands and bled on the gem. The nine sages were consumed by the gem, and a Pokémon came out of the gem. Now that Pokémon was a mixture of all nine sages. The Pokémon galloped towards the front lines and defeated the number of grass Pokémon that were holding back the people of the city. The people with the Pokeball caught all of the grass Pokémon. Now the nine sages were not able to return to their old form. Now every day on the date of the end of the siege the villager hold a holiday to honor the men that gave their lives.
Then Brad got a good look at the Pokémon that the men turned into. One tail for each of the sages. The men had turned into a Pokémon to defeat the grass Pokémon. The town that they had saved was later called Anderson. Brad then realized that the story that they had watched was about the first Ninetales thousands of years before. This Ninetales was still alive until this very day. It lives in the graveyard and was the very one that had cursed Brad on his adventure a few months before. The Pokédex said they lived a long time. Brad thought that it was not this long of a time though. Brad understood that this was most likely because the magic of their becoming Ninetales. Brad pondered the great sacrifice that the men gave up. They were technically a Pokémon, and that Pokémon had many eggs. Now if it were not for them Manji might not be a region. Also, there would not be a Pokémon named Ninetales.
Brad was then transported back from the dream. He realized why Ninetales had given him this dream. Until this day Brad was afraid of Ninetales, but with knowledge comes understanding. When understanding comes acceptance is much easier. Then Brad was not afraid of any Ninetales anymore because he understood. He understood that every tail stands for a sage that gave his life. Every tail was sacred because it was paid for with the life a person that gave us the current Manji.
Edgar's Folly
Now that Brad had no fear of Ninetales Brad was going to challenge the gym. Brad thought that he could have some fun with this gym. He made it there and Edgar challenged Brad to a one-on-one Pokémon battle. "There is only one ghost Pokémon Family in Manji so a one-on-one battle is perfect for this region." Brad responded I have been training with my Ninetales so I would love to battle with it." Edgar said "Sounds great we fight a one-on-one battle. My Pokémon will be my Gengar, and you will be fighting with your Ninetales. Let's begin as soon as possible."
The two made it to the battle grounds and they summoned their Pokémon to their sides. Gengar started out with a shadow ball attack. That is when a dark aura formed around the mouth on Ninetales. Then Ninetales shot out a pillar of darkness towards the shadow ball attack. Brad had taught his Nine tales Dark Pulse right before the battle to get the edge on the Ghost type Pokémon. That is when Gengar disappeared into Ninetales shadow and used confusion ray. Ninetales dodged the attack, and returned it with a wil o wisp attack that burned Gengar. Then Brad hit Gengar with flamethrower that made it ache in pain with the blistering burn on its back. Finally, Gengar got at confusion ray attack on Ninetales. Ninetales just kept blowing up its flamethrower attack every time it tried to attack.
After about the third time it blew up in Ninetales face it snapped out confusion. That is when Ninetales hit Gengar with another dark pulse attack. Gengar then executed a stealthy shadow sneak attack to hurt Ninetales. Then Gengar grabbed a tail of Ninetales' the Gengar got eyes the size of serving plates. It was if Gengar saw every possible reality all at once. He saw horrors that not even Gengar could imagine. While Gengar was a scary Pokémon he could not imagine what Ninetales had showed him. Gengar was immobilized by fear because of grabbing the tail of Ninetales. That is when Ninetales attacked with Dark pulse this did not change the Gengar, and how it felt. Gengar repeatedly got hit with dark pulse without attacking back. That is when Gengar fell over and was knocked out.
Edgar yelled "Hey Gengar did not attack. He was not even listening to any of my commands. What did you do to Gengar?" Brad said "I did not do anything to your Gengar. He pulled the tail of a Ninetales. What did you expect to happen?" Edgar checked his Pokédex and realized that this was true that when you touch the tail of Ninetales bad things happen. That is when Edgar gave Brad the Specter Badge. "You have earned this. Even though I have got defeated by my own incompetence. I did not know about the curse of the Ninetales, and I was defeated. I think that I will have to get a better understanding of my Gengar." Brad explained how he was once a afraid of the Ninetales then overcame fear through understanding. Edgar then realized "I might need to spend time with my Gengar to heal its mind from the fear that your Ninetales caused it. My Gengar is the most feared Pokémon in Wheeler, but clearly you have beaten me in a match of fear. I think that you will do a great job in getting the rest of the gym badges. One for every type of Pokémon in Manji. Well, You can win it all and become the champion if you continue to work hard. Also remember to stay spooky you won this battle because you scared my Gengar into submission. You might could keep that up!"
Up a Creek
Now Brad went tot the bulletin board the next day and saw a mission to save a boy that was stuck on island in the middle of the river. The river was found at the bottom of the valley that led back towards Kirkland. Brad took his Psyduck back down the valley hoping that he would be able to evolve it to Golduck. Now brad made the mistake of only bringing his Psyduck to the bottom of the valley. Now Brad wanted to use Psyduck to swim to the island upstream from him. Now it was impossible for him because he did not know that his Psyduck could not swim.
Brad decided to attack the Geodude that was near it with water gun attack. Psyduck hiw the first Geodude with water gun. Then a second one attacked with a mega punch attack. This Geodude punched Psyduck's head directly and caused a giant confusion which took down four Geodude, and three Machop. Then a Geodude attacked with rock throw, but this attack got beaten out by a water gun attack. Then the last one attacked again with mega punch but this time it missed the mark and was taken out by another water gun. The battle attracted the attention of another Pokémon around it. That is when a Lapras came near and it was clear that it wanted to battle Brad, and Psyduck.
Brad thought that the Lapras could obviously swim because it was in water, so he decided to capture the Lapras. Psyduck started with a confusion attack that wrecked Lapras because of the massive headaches that it was starting to get from all of the exercise. That is when Lapras started to attack with an ice beam that got the feet of Psyduck. That is when Psyduck attacked with confusion again. Then the blast of the confusion attack let Psyduck gain control of its feet. That is when Psyduck's head lit up, and hit Lapras with a Zen headbutt that got even more effective every time that Psyduck used it because it hurt its head even more every time.
Brad succeeded in his goal of weakening Lapras enough to capture it. After capturing Lapras, Brad then rode to the island on the back of his new buddy Lapras. When he made it the beach of the island Brad did not see the kid that he was supposed to be saving. That is when he got off on the beach, and. called Lapras back to it Pokeball. That is when Brad got attacked by a squad of Rattata on the beach. Psyduck to the first three out of squad with water gun. Then dodged the hyper fang attack and hit that one with Zen headbutt. The last three attacked Psyduck with a quick attack barrage. Psyduck then met them with a Zen headbutt the next time they all tried to use a quick attack barrage. That was the end of the Rattata squad, and Brad searched the island for the boy that was abandoned on the island.
That is when Brad hears a voice yelling. He screamed "Help me I am up a tree. My bag is on the ground and group of wil Pokémon are stopping me from getting to it." When Brad made it to the voice he was shocked to see a full grown man in shorts, and a lab coat. "all of my Pokémon are in my bag, but these Caterpie, and Weedle started to attack, and now I am up a tree!." Brad tried not laugh at the fact that this obvious scientist or professor got put up a tree by such small bug Pokémon. That is when Psyduck attacked each of the little Pokémon individually. Psyduck knocked five with water gun. Then another tree with a Zen headbutt. The problem was the very last one screamed so loudly Buterfree, and Beedrill attacked Brad. Psyduck handled the Beedrill pretty easily with a super effective Zen headbutt attack. While Psyduck was attacking Buterfree with water gun it happened Psyduck evolved into Golduck. That knocked out Buterfree. The man from the tree came down and thanked Brad for helping him in his time of need. "I am Professor in a different region that is quiet far from here. I hope that you will come visit one day." That is when Brad called the Abra squad and the Professor was sent to the Trainer Club to rest, and get back to health after spending days in that tree.
Patrolling for Baddies
Now it was a normal day and nothing very exciting was happening. Brad looked on the bulletin board and decided to go patrol Wheeler for the day to help out the local people. There had been a patrol since the attacks on Kirkland and Cabell Town. That was when Michale and Hayden walked up behind Brad and scared him. They both threw him over their shoulders as a joke. They were really just excited to see them. Now Brad said that he was going to patrol the town. All of the boys agreed that they would patrol the city.
While patrolling the outskirts of the city the boys got very bored. They started to talk about anything and everything. That is when they heard three howls of a pack of Growlithe. They all wanted to check why the Growlithe were growling. That is when the boys saw Tyrus who had been known to steal Pokémon. Then the Brad and the gang joined the Growlithe. Tyrus had just stolen a Venasaur from its trainer, and it seemed to be going berserk. Now the boys threw Pokeballs at the three Growlithe to capture them and help the Venasaur by defeating it. When all three of the Growlithe were caught the three boys started the attack on Venasaur.
The Growlithe stood tall against a Pokémon that was twice their size. All three Growlithe started to use ember to fight of the Venasaur. Then the vines grabbed one of the Growlithe while the other two took the opening to bite the Venasaur. The Venasaur thrashed but the Growlithe were not moved from their fierce grip on the Venasaur. Then all at once the Growlithe mouths started to spout out flames and it was clear that all three learned flamethrowers at the same time. Later the boys would theorize that this was because the eggs were all laid at the same time. The Venasaur did not stand a chance after that, and was easily subdued by the three Growlithe. Tyrus cursed at the boys because he said that he had it under control. The Venasaur had beaten his Dragonair, and his only Pokémon left was Lickitung.
Tyrus then chose to fight the boys with his Lickitung. He hated every minute of it because he detested his Lickitung for its great ugliness. Tyrus thought the tongue of Lickitung was the most disgusting thing in all of the Pokémon universe. Now Tyrus attacked the Growlithe with a sweeping lick attack. The attack hit all of the Growlithe, but when it hit the Pokémon, they all bit the tongue. Now this is a very disgusting thing to do to a person, but very effective to make a Pokémon not want to battle anymore. Lickitung screamed like it had just ate a mouthful of wasabi. That is when the Growlithe lit up their teeth and burnt the tongue with fire fang. This made the Lickitung scream all the more. That is when the Lickitung fainted, and Tyrus called the Lickitung back. Then Tyrus used a smoke ball, and ran from the boys.
The boys decided to finish the route with the loss of the Venasaur on their minds. "How could we not get Tyrus to give back the Venasaur? We defeated him quickly. We should have been able to capture him finally." Said Hayden. Brad then questioned "Have we heard anything about the legend of these legendary birds?" Hayden and Michael "We did not tell you. It is on Challenger's Way. We are slowly headed there, and catching the Pokémon that we need to summon them. We need a strong electric type, a strong fire type, and a strong ice type. Honestly, we were thinking that you should capture all of them Brad. You have caught many different Pokémon so you would have the power to control all three of them."
"Now that is your plan to defeat the king!" That is when a pair of grunts jumped out the bushes that were near the boys. "We are Team Ancients greatest scouts, and we are here to scout Wheeler, and we are going to kidnap you to get an extra bonus." Now the scouts used Rattata and Pidgey to attack the boys. It was clear that they were not the best scouts for Team Ancient. The boys defeated all twelve of the Pokémon without breaking a sweat. Then the grunts we herded to inside of Wheeler prison by the Growlithe.
The Great Race
Now on the bulletin board was that it was tournament day. It was going to be a race tournament. Brad had an idea that he wanted to enter in the tournament. Brad really wanted a good chance to win so Brad chose to evolve his Growlithe into a Arcanine. Arcanine were known for their stamina and speed. It said in the Pokédex that a common Arcanine could run two hundred fifty eight miles per hour for a twenty four hour period. For those who are not good at math a Arcanine can travel six thousand two hundred mile in a single day. Now Brad saddled Arcanine and strapped his legs on the Arcanine to practice the race. After the practice Brad was still not confident, he could safely hold on at top speed. The top range that Brad could hold on was about seventy miles per hour.
Now the first race was going to take place between four people and they would need to clear three obstacles. Now the Pokémon that Brad was up against was a Venasaur, a Machamp, and Slowbro. The Slowbro seemed like that it was not up for the race. After that day Brad would question what kind of nincompoop brings a Slowbro to a race. The Race was started with a bang and Brad immediately gets up to seventy miles per hour. Then vines wrapped around the legs of Brad, and the body of Arcanine. The Venasaur sucked the life out of Arcanine that is when Arcanine slowed down and let Venasaur pass it. That is when Arcanine roasted Venasaur which made the vines on Arcanine disappear. Then Brad made it to the first obstacle. It was five grass Pokémon that were meant to stop the racers. That is when Arcanine used a flamethrower to knock out all five of the grass Pokémon without Arcanine going under seventy miles per hour. Then Brad saw Machamp carrying Slowbro, and the riders. Machamp seemed to be confused. That must have been the other guys strategy. Then Brad made the second trial which was giant Poliwrath. That is when Brad felt a great shock coming from Arcanine. Arcanine hit Poliwrath once with Wild Charge, and it fell. Machamp and Slowbro were just behind them. That is when Slowbro used psychic to stop Arcanine. Arcanine broke out of the psychic attack he hit Slowbro with Wild Charge. That is when Machamp took a great lead trying to get away from Slowbro. Arcanine sped up but it only saw a fainted Machamp. All Arcanine had to do now was finish. Brad then saw Alakzam blocking the way, and Arcanine used bite to take down this Pokémon. That is when Arcanine trotted to victory, and on to the next race.
The next race was to take place between four people and would have four obstacles. The four Pokémon on that Brad was up against was Pidgeot, Rhyhorn, and Beedrill. The pistol was sounded, and the race began. Beedrill started off by attacking Rhyhorn with Twineedle which hurt Rhyhorn greatly. Then Brad made the first obstacle which was a pack of Scyther one for each trainer to defeat. Arcanine defeated all five of them with flamethrower and kept running on. Rhyhorn was right behind them when Arcanine made it to the second obstacle a Hitmonlee, and Hitmonchan. The choice was to choose which one to fight. Brad chose Hitmonchan and got close and used flamethrower. Hitmonchan used sky uppercut back on Arcanine. Then Arcanine sped up t dangerous speeds for Brad. Then Arcanine hit Wild Charge on the Hitmonchan. Hitmonchan then was knocked out and Arcanine slowed down to start for the next obstacle. Beedrill pooped up and shot poison stings at Arcanine and Brad. That is when Brad returned fire with a flamethrower attack. The next obstacle was a lake it was a boat with a treadmill to power the motor. The Pokémon would have to move extra fast to even move this boat. Arcanine hit its top speed on the treadmill Brad and Arcanine zoomed across the lake. That is when Pidgeot flew overhead at Mach 1. Then a Raichu was the last obstacle that got roasted by Arcanine but Pidgeot did not make it through this obstacle. This is when Arcanine trotted towards the goal and won the race for Brad allowing Brad to go to the next round.
The last race had many familiar faces. Kimber was there with her Dodrio. The second trainer was Hayden with his Snorlax. Michael was the last trainer, and he was riding his Tauros. Brad nearly cracked up when he saw Tauros again from the adventure that he had with Michael to get that Tauros and save Hayden. Now the race started, and the contestants speed across the track. Now the announcer had said that there were no obstacles in this race just a pure race. All Pokémon were very capable of winning the race. Arcanine started out in front of the pack, but Dodrio quickly took the lead from him. That is when one head turned around and shot a tri attack at all three of them. She winked at them after that and let a loud giggle. Now Brad then did not feel bad for attacking her since she started it. Hayden's Snorlax was much faster than one might think because it was under the assumption that there was food at the finish line. Snorlax went for a giga impact on Tauros which missed, but Arcanine got a flamethrower on Snorlax. Brad was deep in third place with Kimber far ahead. Snorlax then used yawn on Tauros which made it go asleep. Arcanine went at speeds that could possibly make Brad get hurt. Then Arcanine finally got to its peak speed of two hundred and sixty miles per hour. Somehow Brad hung on while they were passing the lead Dodrio. That is when Arcanine slowed down, and hit Dodrio with a Wild Charge attack. Kimber was not mad, but she knew that she was going to lose. Arcanine galloped to victory in the race. Brad was the victor in race tournament of Wheeler.
Brad was awarded a small trophy that was promptly sent back home to his mother. His ranking in the trainer club went up from this tournament of races. The old ranking was three thousand five hundred sixty. This went all the way up to three thousand four hundred and thirty one for winning the tournament. Brad was overall glad about this he was still hopeful that one day he was going to make it to the number one spot at the Trainer Club while being the Champion of the Manji region. He wanted to be the very best that no one ever was.
Prison Break
Now that night the two men that were scouts tried to break out of the prison in Wheeler. This caused all of the attention to go towards the prison. What they did was while they were at the café they started to fight each other. They were both thrown into cells that were next to each other in solitary confinement. Then when one of them was let out to shower he knocked out the guard. The first grunt took the keys of the guard and that obviously was not that easy. The other guard called on the radio to get backup. That is when all hell broke loose when the grunt let out his friend and all of the other prisoners. Now no one in the whole town was sleeping because of all the lights, and the people going through their houses to find the escaped prisoners.
This is when a helicopter flew over the Trainer Club. The helicopter landed right next to it, and a group of policemen ran out looking for the artifact to keep it safe from Team Ancient. That is when Brad heard a voice that sounded very familiar it was Ponos and Thana talking to one another. Then Brad went outside to see two people dressed as police officers. This is when Brad understood the plan of Team Ancient. The two grunts would purposefully get caught to cause a great distraction to make Team Ancient to be able to attack the ancient item of the king. It was a classic misdirection. That is when Brad yelled for Hayden, Michael and Kimber. They all came out of the room in their pajamas. They quickly understood what brad understood they must be the ones to stand and fight for Wheeler. Ponos and Thana both used their normal ancient Pokémon. Omastar and Kabutops were quickly defeated by Brad's Venasaur. Michael used Tauros to pin Thana to the wall, and Kimber pinned Ponos with Rapidash. That is when they used a Alakzam to attack which was new Pokémon for their parties. This gave them enough time to escape via helicopter. That is when Brad saw Morrim with the boots that were hidden in Wheeler. With the breast plate, boots, crown, and scepter he really looked a king.
Now all of the prisoners were making a final stand at the prison. Most times when someone takes over a castle or a prison it does not go well for them. This is when the officers, and police made a siege wall around the prison. This made it where none of the prisoners were going to make it out to the community. There was no Pokémon in the prison because of the danger that would cause if the prisoners could bribe the Pokémon. So, they did not have any source of food, escape, or attack. That means that they had only to eat the food that was already in the prison, and then they were out. They were out of luck unless someone had a helicopter. Some might assume that Morrim would attack the prison to save the grunts. The difference between him and most people is that Morrim did not care for the people under him.
It was an eventful few days, and then the prisoners surrendered to the police, and the town of Wheeler. The grunts that were the main contributors to the riot were separated in isolation cells underground in two different cities. The other people that had participated in the riot were treated very harshly in the maximum prisons that they were sent to. The city was brought back to normal but took a major hit by losing the ancient item to Team Ancient.
The Wheeler Tournament
Now brad was happy to see that there was another tournament going on today at Wheeler Trainer Club. This was a normal tournament just a roulette on how many Pokémon each trainer would use, and regular tournament rules. There was also losers' bracket in this on very interestingly, but Brad did not think that he had to worry about that to much. Now Brad entered which excited the town greatly because they wanted to watch the kid that beat Edgar battle. Brad had also become a legend for his many battles with Team Ancient. It seemed like everyone in town came to watch Brad fight in the tournament today. With all of this attention it would have been easy for it to go to his head, but it never did.
Now the first opponent that Brad faced was a man that seemed by the look of him that he was good at raising Pokémon. Now the roulette table rolled to see how many Pokémon that they would battle. The ball landed on six Pokémon each. The crowd went wild because in the first match they were going to get to see all of Brad's potential.
Now it was time to pick Pokémon. Brad chose Nidoqueen because Brad though that she would like the attention and the exercise. The man on the other side decided that he would use his Chansey to fight the Nidoqueen. Now people went wild to see Nidoqueen because they had watched the videos of some of Brad's battles in the past, and knew Nidoqueen to be a showoff. The first thing that Nidoqueen did was raise her hands pointed way in the air then drop them for a massive earth power attack. Then Nidoqueen got a shock when Chansey started throwing egg shaped bombs with a egg bomb attack. Nidoqueen was so distracted that Chansey got close enough to use double slap on Nidoqueen. Nidoqueen countered that attack with a meg punch attack. The Chansey fell over, and that is when Nidoqueen launched for a backflip in the air and landed on Chansey for a body slam attack. Chansey was still not out so Nidoqueen got up raised her hands in the air and dropped them for earth power attack. Then after that followed up with another backflip body slam to finish Chansey.
Then the man sent out a Rhydon to attack the horn on the Rhydon was very intimidating because it just kept moving. Now Brad knew if the Rhydon got Nidoqueen with the Horn Drill attack it was all over for Nidoqueen. That was when Nidoqueen hit Rhydon with earth power attack that was super effective damage. Every time the Rhydon got close to attacking Nidoqueen would do a backflip and stop the attack with a body slam. Now this caught the other trainer of guard because he was not able to land any of his hard hitting moves with a Pokémon that was probably his hardest hitter. Eventually Nidoqueen won the fight without getting damage.
That is when the man knew what he was going to have to do to get Nidoqueen off the roll that she was on. He used his Electrode. The Electrode was quite speedy. Now Nidoqueen would try to land an earth power attack, but Electrode was just to quick. Then Nidoqueen would try to body slam Electrode but would hit the ground because of the great speed of Electrode. That was until the last time Nidoqueen did the body slam the man let Nidoqueen hit Electrode. That is when electrode used explosion to defeat Nidoqueen.
"Now that I have got that Pokémon defeated let's get back to the battle." said the man. Now Brad knew that the man was not in a position to talk because he was three Pokémon down and Brad had only lost one Pokémon. Now Brad used a Pokémon that he thought could use more training. He had caught this Pokémon a while back but never got around to using it. That is why he called out his Rhyhorn to battle the man's next Pokémon. Muk was the man's choice to battle. Now Brad had the clear advantage in this match because ground is strong against poison. There was something different about this Muk though it seemed to have all the colors of the rainbow in its gunk. Rhyhorn started the battle of with bulldoze. That is whn Muk opend its mouth and shot Rhyhorn right out. No doubt Rhyhorn did some damage, but it was clear that Muk was not greatly wounded. Now Rhyhorn got distracted by the scent of the Muk. It smelled like barriers, unlike the normal smell of Muk which was pretty much like the smell of rotting berries. Muk then use gunk shot and Rhyhorn becomes poisoned from the attack. Despite the poisoning Rhyhorn presses on and use bulldoze again from the side this time as to not end up in Muk's mouth. That is when Muk started to use stockpile repeatedly. This was very concerning to Brad because that would make Muk able to out last Rhyhorn. When Muk went to heal itself with the stockpile Rhyhorn hit it with one last bulldoze, and Muk fainted unable to heal itself. That is when Rhyhorn also fainted due to the poison.
Now Brad chose his Hitmonchan to take up the next fight. While the man used a Kangaskhan. The match could have taken place in a small circle with the way the two Pokémon fought. Kangaskhan was using mega punch after mega punch to get its opponent to lose the fight. While Hitmonchan would return every mega punch for a sky uppercut. This fight was brutal and hard to watch because it was certainly to titans fighting it out. Now the crowd was starting to bet bored. As anyone would if they were used to watching fire spout from Pokémon's mouths. This when Kangaskhan started to back Hitmonchan into a corner. It was the corner of the arena where they where fighting. That is when Hitmonchan ran for the wall jumped over Kangaskhan, and barreled fifteen Mach punches on Kangaskhan before it could turn around. That is when Hitmonchan won the battle.
That is when a Kingler came out to fight Hitmonchan. Hitmonchan was adeptly hitting the big claws of Kingler away, but it was to no avail. Finally, Kingler hit Hitmonchan with guillotine attack that is an attack that always knocks out your opponents. This was the end of the battle for Hitmonchan that was quickly replaced by Venasaur. Now Venasaur was at the top of its game. Many people would say after that they have never seen a Venasaur as strong, or as healthy as Brad's Venasaur. That is why with one shot of razor leaf Kingler fainted, and the battle was Brad's victory.
Now Brad was ready for the next battle. They two that were going to compete spun the roulette table to see how many Pokémon that they were going to use. It ended up that they were going to fight a double battle with two Pokémon each. This battle would be extremely intense because there would be no substitution for the Pokémon. Both trainers seemed to be determined that they would be the one to win this battle. They shook hands and wished the other luck. Then they took their spots ready for the great battle what was going to happen.
Now the two Pokémon that the opponent chose for the double battle was Poliwrath, and Charizard. While Brad chose Rhyhorn, and Alakzam. Brad started the fight with Alakzam mounting Rhyhorn. While Poliwrath also mounted Charizard for the opposite side. That is when Rhyhorn shot vicious rock throw at Charizard. Charizard did a barrel roll and dropped Poliwrath right on top of Brad's two Pokémon. That is when Alakzam stopped the aerial assault by using psychic and throwing Poliwrath on to the ground. Charizard flew between the legs of Poliwrath and head straight towards Alakzam and Rhyhorn. This plan did not work for Charizard because Rhyhorn got a critical hit with rock throw. This made Charizard fall to the ground and shoot Poliwrath straight towards Alakzam and Rhyhorn which did not work because of Alakzam's psychic move. This made both of the opponent's team faint, and Brad's team claimed the victory.
Now Brad was up against the last battle. He spun the roulette table for the decision of a one on one battle. Brad saw his opponent was the number one Trainer. He just felt like getting his Pokémon some exercise today. Brad knew that he favored big moves. Brad thought of a strategy that might get him a victory against the head trainer in the trainer club league.
The other trainer used a Charizard. According to the studying Brad had done on this opponent he was all out offense. That is why Brad used his Gengar to fight the top trainer. Brad started the fun with shadow sneak. Charizard did not turn around in time to stop Gengar. That is when Gengar also did a toxic attack that gave Charizard a poison aliment. Charizard went for a fire blast attack, but Gengar slipped out with a shadow sneak attack. That is when Brad did something curious. He told Gengar to do curse attack. That halved Gengar's life to make Charizard continually take damage. Now if one moves it Gengar it was most likely going to faint. Charizard used fire blast again but missed for a second time. A heap of damage was given to Charizard for its aliments. The other trainer berated Brad "Fight like a man. You can't win against me head on, so you have to use little tricks. That will never work. My Charizard has been through worse than that." That is when Charizard tried to use overheat on Gengar, but Gengar again hid in it shadow, and attacked with shadow sneak attack. Charizard turned around and tried it again. Gengar successfully dodged the attack this happened two more times. On the fifth overheat Charizard landed a hit on Gengar, but Charizard fell down. Gengar was wincing in pain, but was still able to stand while Charizard had fainted. The other trainer said "You cheated you only landed a few hits against my mighty Charizard. Overheat should have taken you out." That is when Brad explained "Overheat loses power every time you use it. When you used it it was at its weakest. That is why Gengar did not faint."
Brad was given the reward for the tournament and moved up in rank. Since he beat the number one champion of the Trainer Club, he move up greatly in the rankings. Brad moves from the rank of three thousand four hundred and thirty one to the rank of one thousand. Now brad knew this was something to be celebrated, but clearly being in the top one thousand put at a target on your back so that someone could progress quickly up the league. With this win in Wheeler Brad was ready to head back through the caves down the mountain to Twiggs Town the next stop in his journey.
