Izuku's eyes glittered as he realized whose office he had entered. "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh oh my gosh. You're Nezu! The Chimera Hero!"

"Oh, you know my old moniker?" Nezu asked. "None of my hero history is available on my public registry."

"No, it's not. I had to go digging on some old forums. No one's really sure how your Quirk works or what kind of boost it gives. It's not simply an increased intelligence, as that wouldn't account for how you developed a personality. At the same time, your behaviors and thought patterns aren't typical for humans, or any neurological disorders for that matter. It's more as if you tried building a human brain using a rodent's brain as a base."

Nezu grinned. "I haven't heard a theory about my Quirk as thorough as yours before. Most people write it off as an intelligence boost and call it a day. You wouldn't happen to be interested in attending Yuuei, would you?"

"Absolutely! I've always wanted to be a hero like All Might, and this was his alma mater, and-" Izuku froze, his brain simultaneously blue-screening and rebooting. "This is Yuuei. Holy cow, I'm at Yuuei right now."

"Indeed you are! And you brought a few friends."

Izuku blinked, then looked back at the aliens. Half of them still had their guns pointed at Nezu. Moving very slowly, Izuku made eye contact with one and gently lifted the gun until it was pointing at the ceiling. The action snapped the captain out of his shock, and with a barked order, he had the rest lowering their guns, but keeping them out.

Nezu raised a single paw in the air and wriggled his claws. With the captain attentively watching, Nezu pressed a button on the intercom and said, "Fumio Hiraku, to the principal's office please."

Izuku walked up to a window in a daze. From Nezu's vantage point, he could see most of the school from the workshops where support students made gear and costumes, to the miniature city where hero students practiced chasing each other through alleys and up the sides of buildings. An alien next to him watched with equal interest, taking pictures with their wrist computer and jotting down notes.

A knock came at the door. Six guns snapped towards the entryway. Nezu shot the captain a look, and the alien ordered them to stand down.

"Come in," Nezu said. "Very slowly."

The door inched open. A short, chubby teenager poked his head in, looking as though he was about to face a metaphorical firing squad, only to find himself face to face with a literal one.

"Oh," he said. "You need my Quirk."

"That would be appreciated, yes."

Fumio squinted at them. "Weird mutations. Are they Chinese?"

"Aliens."

The student gawked at them. Clearing his throat, Fumio stepped forward and offered his hand to Nezu. After shaking his, Fumio nervously stepped up to the captain. After they shook, Nezu said, "If you could get the boy into the meeting as well, that would be appreciated."

The captain flinched back, staring wildly at the space in front of his eyes. Every rifle and a few pistols snapped towards Fumio, who yelped and put trembling hands into the air.

The captain growled something at Nezu, who replied, "It's perfectly safe and only temporary. Fumio's Quirk is called Subtitled Meetings. He sets up a meeting by shaking hands with the involved parties, who then see all conversation as subtitles in their native language. Once the meeting is over, denoted by him either bowing, shaking hands again, or leaving the room, the effect disappears. There are better translation Quirks out there, but right now, discretion is more valuable. If you have anyone else you would like involved in this meeting, please send them forward."

While the captain explained to his men that no, he wasn't under attack, now could they all lower their guns, Izuku went up to Fumio and shook his hand.

"Oh wow, it's the same font that they use in most televised subtitles. I wonder if it's a different font for the aliens, since they have different preconceptions about what subtitles should look like. Wait, if it's based on the same font for everyone, would the aliens even be able to read it, since the characters for their language don't exist in that font? Does it work on blind people? Is it blurry for anyone near-sighted? And-"

"Midoriya-kun, you're cluttering up the screen," Nezu said. "Your analysis is very interesting, but could you wait until after we've dealt with our first contact with another species?"

Izuku flinched. "Sorry, sir. I, um, get carried away sometimes." Then he glanced back at the subtitles. "Oh, it does names too. That's how you know mine."

The captain cleared their throat. Blushing with embarrassment, Izuku hunched his shoulders and backed away, allowing the captain to approach Nezu's desk.

"Major Desonis, of the Fifth Armada, former captain of the Vigorous. I hereby offer greetings on behalf of the Turian Hierarchy. I'm afraid I am not qualified for any further interactions with your people aside from providing non-classified information about my species and other members of the Citadel Council.

"Principal Nezu of Yuuei Academy. I likewise lack direct authority to decide our nation's response to you and your nation, but I am not without strings to pull. I will do everything in my power to ensure that your people will be able to return home, and will be kept in good health, with all your belongings, and given some freedom to explore during your stay."

"I appreciate your efforts." Desonis turned to Izuku and asked, "Now how the hell did you teleport us out of known Citadel space?"

"Oh, that would be my Quirk." Izuku went to the door and opened it again. The Turians scrambled for cover, but instead of the vast emptiness of space, they found an empty bedroom. "Whenever I open a door, it randomly opens to another one anywhere in the world." Shrinking in on himself, Izuku said, "It's pretty useless."

Nezu and the captain both shared a look. The captain tentatively put a hand on Izuku's shoulder and said, "Kid, that 'Quirk' of yours saved my men. We got jumped by a small fleet of pirates, and they made sure to blow out the escape pods first. If you weren't there, none of us would be alive."

"And that's to say nothing about how useful it would be for trade," Nezu added. "Open the right set of doors, and you could cut the travel distance from half a planet to half a step."

"Or better yet, instant travel across half a galaxy. The Volus would wage wars to hire you."

Izuku felt his ears burning, and he nervously shuffled his feet. "Oh. Um, I never thought of it like that."

Desonis drew away from him and said, "So, your Quirk requires these doors to operate?" He closed it, then opened it again, curiously looking around the empty hallway. "That might be a problem."

"Why is that?"

"The Citadel uses sliding doors, and those became standard across the entire galaxy. Don't have to worry about decompression stopping you from closing a door that way. The only reason that we had a swinging door was because ours went out and my engineer suggested a stopgap until we could get to drydocks."

"What if we made a sliding door?" Nezu asked. "Would that work with your Quirk?"

Izuku shook his head. "Maybe it would with their kind of doors, but the ones we tried didn't do anything."

Desonis examined the door with a perplexed expression. "How does that even make any sense?"

"Quirks follow their own logic." Nezu sipped his tea and said, "No one really knows why."

"Well, do you have anyone else that could potentially bring us home?"

"Teleportation Quirks are very rare, and most have a range limit or other equally prohibitive aspects. Our options are either to try Izuku's Quirk, on the off chance there's another hinged door somewhere in the galaxy, or develop spacecraft capable of faster than light travel." Nezu gave the captain a shrewd look. "With the right information, it's entirely possible we could have you back home within a few months."

Desonis shook his head. "Two problems with that. First, Citadel law prohibits the uplifting of non-member species. Admittedly, you're most of the way there already, but giving you Eezo technology would count."

Nezu mentally filed that word away and nodded attentively. "And the second?"

"We would need to find and activate a Mass Relay, which is also against Citadel law."

"So, that leaves developing FTL ourselves, which would take centuries…"

Desonis shook his head. "We'd be dust by then."

"Or we try Izuku's Quirk. It will take some time to prepare. There are billions of doors, which would make finding the one we need a statistical improbability, but if we have everyone open every door on the planet…"

Desonis grinned. "Then that just leaves the doors that aren't on this planet." Then his face fell. "Sadly, we don't have any rations. Your water should be fine, but our readings indicate you're Levo species. All your food is the wrong chirality."

"Assuming you have chemical formulas and specs for the nutrients you need, we could manufacture it easily enough. We're accustomed to meeting all manner of dietary needs."

The information was on their omni tools, as the aliens called the computers on their wrists. Getting that information off the omni tool involved ripping apart the computer on Nezu's desk, some impromptu programming, and a bundle of wires Nezu gnawed into shape to line up with a port on the omni tool.

"Excellent. I have the order in already, just enough for a taste test so we can calibrate something more palatable than protein slurry.

The captain shuddered. "Flavor would be appreciated."

"As for your living arrangements, there's a reason I keep multiple replica cities on hand. I'll have one of the training grounds closed off. I'm afraid they are built to break, so I would advise being careful on the upper floors."

"What restrictions are there on exploring the area?"

"Until I've secured visas for your visit, I'll have to ask you to remain on school grounds. It would also be appreciated if you didn't roam the grounds carrying guns."

"Can we at least keep our pistols?"

"Japan has a firm ban on firearms. Being seen carrying any around would raise questions."

Desonis nodded unhappily. "Understandable. Is there a permit we can apply for?"

"Certainly, and I'll see to it that such a permit comes with your visas." Nezu set aside their empty mug. "Now that we've gotten your basic needs covered, I have questions of my own. Firstly, who attacked your ship?"

With a scowl, Desonis said, "Batarian pirates. We got word of activity from one of the patrols. We were expecting a few corvettes, not an entire fleet. We didn't even get word out about the attack before they shut down our communications."

Nezu's smile dipped. "Did you tell your superiors that you made contact with Izuku?"

"Yes, but I wouldn't worry. The ship's blackbox had a tightbeam communication with the heavy cruiser leading our patrol. All they'd have to do is check that to know who attacked us and how many there were."

"Would they check that if they heard you made first contact then promptly got blown to pieces?"

Desonis chuckled. "You'd have to be a complete idiot to do that."

One of his soldiers nudged him and muttered something that made Desonis' face stiffen. "Oh Ancestors, not him."

The other Turian in the call, the ship's medic, asked, "He wouldn't be stupid enough to activate a Mass Relay. Right?" They started panicking at the captain's blank look. "Right?"

Admiral Corvac clanked as he walked. Festooned with enough medals to entirely cover his uniform, other admirals often joked that high command gave him all those medals so everyone else would know to scramble out of his line of fire. But Corvac knew the truth. High command gave him all those medals because he was the greatest military mind of his people. No, his galaxy. Of all time. Blowing a hole through the Turian Super-Dreadnought so he'd have a clean shot at those Krogan 'refugee ships' which were clearly out to invade Palaven was nothing short of tactical brilliance, and the ten thousand Turians aboard the Solidarity were a necessary sacrifice to win the war.

As he settled into his padded, high-back swivel chair and turned dramatically to view the display in his bridge, Corvac said, "Situation report, and on the double."

"Yes sir!" The Turian officer gave him a crisp salute and said, "Captain Desonis of the Vigorous claimed to make first contact before the ship went down with all hands."

Those vile, wretched alien scum! Feigning diplomacy, only to stab them in the back. Corvac vowed to personally kill a thousand - no, ten thousand! for every Turian they slaughtered. "There were no survivors?"

"No sir. Escape pods were blown out, but only a few crew members were found amidst the wreckage." The officer consulted their omni tool, and a map of the galaxy flickered into view. "Oddly enough, we did get a signal from the captain's omni tool in the ship's final moments. The signal came from the ship, but also claimed to be from a part of the galaxy just outside of citadel space, hidden behind this Mass Relay right here."

Corvac thumped his hand against his chest, making his entire suit rattle. "A valiant sacrifice, trading his own life away and trusting us with the location of the aliens' homeworld so we might avenge him."

"Uh, sir, shouldn't we check the blackbox first? The wreckage is more consistent with Batarian weapons, and they were reported in the area."

"Bah, there's no time to waste! It's too obvious what happened. The aliens probably wanted us to think it was Batarians. But I'm too smart for them!" He pointed dramatically forward and said, "Our mission is clear. To the Mass Relay!"

"But sir, that's illegal!"

"This is war! The only law in war is you do whatever it takes to kill the enemy."

"At least check the blackbox first? What if this is a mistake?"

"A mistake? I never make mistakes! You must be a sympathizer! To the brig with you!"

The officer didn't even resist as two men dragged him away. Corvac turned back to the blip in the Milky Way galaxy and narrowed his eyes. "You will rue the day you made an enemy of Admiral Corvac."

A/N: a few people expressed confusion about how the door opened so many places. While I believe the chapter had enough context clues to make it clear it was Izuku's Quirk (Bakugo knowing he'd be stuck in there despite it not being locked, Izuku not being surprised by the door opening elsewhere and anticipating it), I would hope that this chapter made it more than plain enough exactly how Izuku's Quirk works, without coming off as being too obvious/blunt by using narration. Having Izuku explain to the Turians in this setting feels way more organic than narrating how it works in the first chapter.

As for the other reviews loving it, hoping for more, thank you, and here you go! This won't be a super long story - I'm aiming for about ten chapters but don't have it set in stone yet. We'll just have to see where the doors take me.
