Fairy Heroes Academia 6
The Curriculum of U.A. High's hero course felt like a regular school at times, at least that's what Lucy and Levy were told, they had their regularly required classes, such as English in the morning with Present Mic. They honestly loved that class, having been well-versed in literature themselves they were excelling.
They had Lunch in the main cafeteria, where they were able to buy gourmet food for reasonable prices. What really impressed them was the Cook Hero, Lunch Rush being there to serve the food. While they had wanted to sit with a couple of their classmates, they promised to sit with Yui, who invited along Reiko Yanagi, another girl from Class 1-B.
"I heard Aizawa was a rough teacher, but I can't believe he threatened expulsion on the first day." Yui said, taking a bite from her tomatoes, "Mm!"
"Yeah, we definitely weren't expecting it." Levy responded, taking a bite from her white rice.
Reiko shook her head, "Vlad Sensei didn't try anything like that, but what an interesting way to claim to draw out your quirks..."
"It was demented, but it did work, I'll give him that." Lucy conceded, taking a sip of her juice. To be honest, Reiko kind of gave her a creepy vibe, but she figured it was the girl's ghost-like attributes from her quirk, the girl herself was pretty nice.
"Pushing us on the first day…" Levy said aloud, "You have to wonder what else he'll try to do." With that thought in the air, the girls continued with their lunch, happily chatting about their new classmates they've encountered so far.
. . .
The afternoon was the part of the day each student in Class 1-A looked forward to, Hero Basic Training. The students took their seats and waited patiently for their teacher. Levy sat in the front of the class in front of Bakugo, while Lucy ended up in the back next to Uraraka and a boy with half-red and half-white hair.
"I am…" All Might's distinct voice rang out in the classroom, all the students excitedly turning their heads to the entrance, "Coming through the door like a normal person!" All Might exclaimed, hanging on the sides of the doorframe, leaning into the room.
The students all murmured in excitement and Lucy and Levy both brightened up. Granny had told them on their very first day here that he was the best of the best, if anyone was going to help them complete their mission, it was him.
"It's All Might!" Denki Kaminari gasped.
"Wow, he really is a teacher!" Eijiro Kirishima said stoked.
Tsu noticed his outfit, "That's a costume from the Silver Age isn't it?"
The tailed boy, Mashirao Ojiro, chimed in next, "It's style is so different, it's giving me goosebumps."
All Might proudly stood before the class, holding a powerful pose "I teach Hero basic Training. It is a subject where you train in different ways to learn the basics of being a hero." The students soaked in his words, "You'll take the most units of this subject!"
All Might began to flex, showing off his back and obstructing the view of his front, "Let's get right into it! This is what we'll do today-" He turned around revealing he was holding a card that said 'BATTLE' and showed it to the class, "Combat training!"
"Combat!" Levy heard Bakugo behind her whisper excitedly with Midoriya's voice following weakly, "...training."
"And to go with that are these!" He pointed to the wall, which 'whirred' with a robotic noise as they extended to reveal numbered storage components, "Costumes made based on your Quirk registrations and requests you sent in before school started."
The class screamed in excitement, thoroughly pumped at the idea of getting to wear an outfit tailored to their needs.
'Oh man, me and Lu didn't submit any specific requests, hopefully she's not too disappointed in not getting to decide what to wear.' Levy thought, knowing about the girl's love for fashion, 'Then again her magic changes her outfit anyways, so maybe she won't care what she wears.'
'Now that I know I could've designed my costume I'm kinda sad I didn't have a chance to…" Lucy silently cried to herself at this missed opportunity.
"After you change, gather in Ground Beta!" All Might instructed as the students jumped out of their seats. "Yes, sir!"
. . .
All Might stood alone at ground Beta, steps filled the air as the students walked out each donning their new gear. All Might's trademark smile really shined in his voice, "They say clothes make the man, young men and ladies. Be fully aware, from now on…"
The students stood proudly in their hero outfits, each feeling content in their new suits, "You are heroes!"
Lucy and Levy were unable to design their costumes due to how busy they were getting proper documentation, knowing none existed on them. Shuzenji used many of her connections that many probably wouldn't consider "legal" but she had enough pull to get away with it, as long as she didn't have to do it again.
All that being said, they had to register their Quirks at the courthouse, along with other proper documents, and paperwork that would allow them to live as properly as two amnesiac girls with no clear discernable past could.
They did remember sending out their measurements along with a description of their Quirks, though at the time along with all the other paperwork and tests they went through it hadn't seemed so weird. They had even learned that they had blood types were AB and B respectively, through these tests.
Levy's costume consisted of a lime green turtleneck-type top, with the back opening rto reveal her guild mark, with armored plates decorating her shoulders. A gold utility belt hung around her hips, having several storage compartments, right now she hadn't filled them with anything. The bottom half of her outfit included gray shorts, knee pads, and low red gladiator-heeled shoes. Her whole outfit was completed with a green bandana and matching green gloves covering her hands. She also opted to wear her gale-force reading glasses.
Lucy's hair was tied up in pigtails by two blue bands, her top was a blue vest that she opted to leave open revealing her almost skin-tight crop top made out of elastic fabric underneath. Disconnected wide sleeves went along her arms. She wore a blue short skirt, which had slits going down the sides, and a white trimming. Underneath were skin-tight shorts made of a similar material to what the crop top was made out of. Her outfit was finished off with brown boots and her pouch of keys that she wanted to keep with her at all times.
"That's great, everyone. You all look cool!" All Might gushed. "Now shall we begin, you zygotes?" He teased his students.
"Wow, your costumes look great!" Uraraka complimented the girls, who grinned back, "Thanks, yours looks good too!" Lucy said as Uraraka placed a matching pink visor on her head.
"Honestly we didn't really put down too many details, so they had full control over what we wore." Levy gave a twirl, "But they did come out looking pretty great!" Lucy nodded in agreement, smoothing out her skirt.
Uraraka's gaze flicked over to the entrance and lit up, "Oh, Deku?"
"Uraraka!" Deku acknowledged nervously.
"You're calling him Deku now too?" Levy asked, overhearing Bakugo mentioning the nickname in a couple of classes.
"Oh yeah! It sounds sorta like the Japanese word for "You can do it!" so I thought it was cute!" Uraraka brightly revealed.
Midoriya was blushing, but her compliments didn't stop, "Your costume is so cool, really down to earth." She began to sheepishly rub the back of her head, "I should've written what I wanted… Mine ended up being a skintight bodysuit. It's embarrassing."
"I don't think Midoriya minds that too much." Lucy teased with a small smirk.
"The hero course is the best." Minoru Mineta gave a thumbs up from the side. Lucy still had to resist the urge to kick him, she'd get her chance on day…
All Might looked at Midoriya's costume, the ears, and the smile, how his fanboys honored him… He did still find it somewhat amusing, "So obvious." He mumbled into his hand muffling his laughter.
Recollecting his bearings, All Might continued, "Now, it's time for combat training!"
"Sir!" Iida piped up now decked out in a suit of armor that hid every trace of the teen, "This is a battle center from the entrance exam, so will we be conducting urban battles again?" He inquired.
"No," All Might responded, holding up two fingers, "We're going to move ahead two steps!"
"Most of the time, fighting villains takes place outside, but if you look at the total numbers, atrocious villains appear indoors at a higher rate." The teacher explained, "Imprisonment, house arrest, backroom deals- In this society filled with heroes, truly intelligent villains hide in the shadows!" He informed the class.
"For this class, you'll be split into villains and heroes and fight 2-on-2 indoor battles." All Might revealed with gusto.
"Without basic training?" Tsu probed.
"This is a real battle to understand those basics!" All Might figured first-hand field experience would serve better, favoring the decision over a basic lecture.
This battle was going to differ from the exam, "The key this time is that there's no robot you can just beat up." He informed the students.
"How will wins and losses be determined?" Yaoyorozu asked.
"Can we beat them up anyway?" Bakugo interjected.
"Will the punishment be expulsion like with Mr. Aizawa?" Uraraka chimed in.
"How are heroes and villains going to be picked?" Lucy wanted to know.
"How shall we be split up?" Iida raised his hand.
"Isn't this cape super crazy?" Aoyama twinkled.
All Might internally groaned with all influx of students all questioning him, "I'll answer all your questions!"
He pulled out a small booklet, "Now listen here."
"A script!" Midoriya muttered.
"The situation is that the villains have hidden a nuclear weapon somewhere in their hideout. The heroes are trying to dispose of that. The heroes need to catch the villains or get the nuclear weapon back in the allotted time." All Might explained.
"The villains need to protect the nuclear weapon for the whole time or catch the heroes." All Might pulled out a box labeled, 'Lots,' "Teams and opponents will be determined by drawing lots!"
"They're being decided so haphazardly?" Iida wanted to clarify, shocked at the decision.
"Don't you like the mystery Iida?" Levy asked the taller boy with a small laugh.
"Pros often have to create makeshift teams with heroes from other agencies, so maybe that's why?" Midoriya suggested joining in the conversation.
"I see. The discernment to look ahead…" Iida reflected, "Please excuse my rudeness!" He bowed in apology.
"That makes more sense than what I suggested." Levy rubbed the back of her head shyly.
Lucy thought back to the Nirvana incident that happened with the other guilds. 'I'm not new to teaming up with strangers, but it will be the first time where I won't intentionally summon my Spirits to help…"
All Might took control of the class again, "It's fine. Let's do this quickly!" He pumped a fist in the air.
Team A: Uraraka & Midoriya
Team B: Shoji & Todoroki
Team C: Mineta & Yaoyorozu
Team D: Bakugo & Iida
Team E: Ashido & Aoyama
Team F: Koda & Lucy
Team G: Kaminari & Jiro
Team H: Tokoyami & Tsu
Team I: Ojiro & Levy
Team J: Sero & Kirishima
"Wow, it must be fate! I'm counting on you!" Uraraka grinned at Midoriya.
"Seriously?! I have to speak properly, or else-" Midoriya gripped his mask in anxiety, trying to steady his heart rate.
"Nice to meet you, my name is Mashirao Ojiro." The tailed boy bowed to Levy. "Hi! I'm Levy McGarden, I'm looking forward to teaming up!" She bowed back.
"Hello, Koda, right? I sit behind you in class! I was told you don't really talk…" Lucy said to the shy boy who towered over her, "My name is Lucy Heartfilia, let's win this okay?" She winked at Koda who nodded back at the girl, politely.
All Might stuck his hands into two separate boxes marked 'Hero' and 'Villain' respectively. "The first teams to fight will be…" Holding up his hands, he revealed two balls marked 'D' and 'A' "...these guys!"
"Team A will be the heroes, and Team D will be the villains." All Might announced.
'Yikes, this is gonna be a scary matchup.' Levy thought to herself, eyeing the explosive teen.
"Everyone else, head toward the monitor room." All Might told the non-participating students. "Yes, sir!" They all replied going towards their designated areas.
Midoriya turned to the side, only to be met with the sight of Bakugo glaring at him. 'After the conversation yesterday I feel more confident about using my quirk, but I still haven't tested ou my theory in fear of breaking my body.'
If he had tried practicing at home and it went wrong, he would have been hurt until Recovery Girl could heal him, and he didn't want to willingly hurt himself, he's not even sure if he's completely got the hang of it anyways…
Midoriya's fist clenched with a newfound intensity, returning Bakugo's glare with an even look. Bakugo scowled at the freckled teen, not liking this response.
"Villain team, go in first and set up! In five minutes, the hero team will break in, and the battle will start!" All Might commanded Iida and Bakugo, who followed his instructions without a word.
"Young Iida, Young Bakugo, learn to think from the perspective of the villains." All Might stopped them for a second, "This is pretty close to a real all out. Don't be afraid to get hurt." He advised.
Iida nodded, "Yes, sir!"
"If things go too far, I will stop it." All Might made clear.
Bakugo's mind was still on Deku, how dare he hide his Quirk all this time. Did he think he was less than? It's always been that way. Bakugo's teeth clenched in anger as he walked into the building.
. . .
Iida approached the bomb, he and Bakugo were tasked with, "Even if this is training, it pains me to become a villain." He stepped closer to the bomb, "So our job is to protect this?"
He knocked on it, testing the material, "It's paper-mâché." He determined based on the texture.
"Hey!" Bakugo called, getting Iida's attention, "Deku has a Quirk, right?"
"You saw that extraordinary strength, didn't you?" Iida answered as if it were obvious, "It appears to carry a lot of risk, though…"
"However, you seem to be especially angry when it comes to Midoriya…" Iida mentioned, but his words fell on deaf ears as Bakugo tuned him out, lost in his own thoughts, 'Did he dare trick me?! That damn nerd.'
. . .
Mirodiya and Uraraka stood outside of the building. "It's a lot of work to memorize the building's floor plan." Uraraka mumbled looking at the sheet she was handed, "But All Might is just the same as when he's on TV."
She turned to Midoriya her face showing only traces of joy, "Unlike Mr. Aizawa, it looks like there's no punishment so we can relax-'' She finally noticed Midoiya's nervous posture and the sweat dripping off his mask. "You're not relaxed at all!"
"Well, it's because… we're up against Kacchan…" Midoriya croaked out, "And there's Iida too, so I feel like I need to be on guard…"
Uraraka suddenly understood, "I see. Bakugo's the one who makes fun of you, right?"
Midoriya's trembling ceased, but his gaze was distant, "He's amazing. He's a piece of work," He admitted, "But his goal, his confidence, his physical strength, and his Quirk are way more amazing than mine." He went quiet, thinking on it…
Midoriya stood up proudly, "But that's why right now I don't want… to lose…" He placed his mouthpiece back over his mouth, connecting it to the upper part of his mask,
"A fated battle between men, huh?" Uraraka asked, with a small smile.
Midoriya waved his hands realizing he must've been rambling, "Oh, sorry, this isn't your problem, Uraraka."
"It is! We're a team aren't we?" She countered, throwing her fist in the air, "Let's do our best!"
Midoriya couldn't help but be infected by her enthusiasm, smiling back at the girl.
...
"Now let's start with indoor person-to-person combat training with Team A and Team D!" All Might's voice spoke over an intercom.
"Okay, everyone, you all should think as well." All Might recommended to the students not participating in the round, knowing they could learn a thing or two by watching their peers. All Might's eyes traveled to his successor.
'Young Midoriya! Here, you are no more than a single student.' He reminded himself as he put an earpiece in, 'I'll grade you strictly, without playing favorites.' Although he wanted his student to thrive, he couldn't let his bias show, he was molding several heroes, not just one beacon of hope.
Lucy and Levy stared at the large screen, never seeing one so big. The closest thing was the lacrima that displayed live feed from the Grand Magic Games, but this was technology, not magic. It served as a distraction but they had lingering feelings of worry for their friend, especially after how Bakugo reacted to Midoriya's throw.
'Hard to believe someone like that wants to be a hero…' Lucy was pulled out of her thoughts by a tap on her arm from Levy.
"Do you think Midoriya will be able to use his Quirk?" Levy asked a in hushed voice, not wanting anyone to overhear her. "Do you think our conversation helped him at all?" Levy clarified.
Lucy tilted her head, watching on screen as the green and pink heroes snuck into the building through a window. She hummed thoughtfully, "He's gonna have to, whether he likes it or not if he's gonna deal with Bakugo. I don't see any other way around it, I guess we'll find out then."
'Young McGarden and Young Heartfilia gave him advice?' All Might's ears picked up on the girl's conversation, 'He did seem excited when I talked to him, has Young Midoriya figured it out?' All Might couldn't let his own excitement show as he watched the screen in concentration. He wouldn't show bias, but he was interested, if that was wrong then sue him…
. . .
Midoriya and Uraraka walked through the halls of the quiet building, carefully scouting as they went. 'I have a better idea of what I want to do with One For All, but I don't know if I want to use it against anyone, untested at least...' Midoriya reasoned with himself, his anxieties creeping up on him, what if his idea didn't work?
'For now, we'll have to use the power I have now and Uraraka's Zero Gravity.' The teen decided, not wanting to risk it yet.
'I've got to use my head… Those notes on indoor battles… battles in tight spaces…' Midoriya checked around the corner before motioning Uraraka forward. His Hero Analysis for the Future, the notebook that Bakugo ruined, had logged tons of information that would benefit him greatly right about now…
'Remember!' He tried to will himself, but his attention was immediately on Bakugo who jumped out in their path with his hand igniting and heading straight for Midoriya. Midoriya swiftly dodged it, tackling Uraraka to cover her from the explosion that ended up crashing into the walll.
"Uraraka, are you all right?" Midoriya fretted, quickly regathering his bearings.
"Yeah, thanks." Uraraka gratefully responded, she noticed half of his mask had been blown off, "Deku!" She called concerned.
"It's just a scratch." He assured her, keeping his eyes on the cloud of dust Bakugo's attack left.
Bakugo having had enough swiped his arm, sending the dust concealing him away. "Come Deku, don't dodge." He said threateningly, looking down on Midoriya.
Kneeling Midoriya looked at his childhood friend, "I figured you'd come for me first." He rose up, standing face to face with Kacchan.
Bakugo couldn't stand Deku's confidence, "I won't do much damage that this fight gets stopped," The explosive teen charged at the duo, "But I'm gonna get close!"
He reeled his arm back and then arched it forward, charging a blast in his hand, his intent to rough them up, but was caught by surprise when Midoriya intercepted his attack by grabbing Bakugo by the arm. Uraraka's eyes sparkled as she watched, "Wow, he's like a martial arts master!"
Midoriya flipped his stance, shifting his weight to pull Bakugo over his body, 'What's with this guy?' Bakugo was surprised by the nerd who almost never fought back. 'Did he read my moves?'
Midoriya swung with all of his might, and a strained yell escaped his teeth as he slammed Bakugo to the ground. "Kacchan…" Midoriya panted as Bakugo silently sat up, "You usually start with a big right swing. How much do you think I've been watching you?"
Bakugo grunted as he turned to look at Deku still positioned in his throw, "I wrote an analysis for all the heroes I thought were amazing in my notebook." Midoriya explained with his head bowed. "In the notebook you blew up and threw away."
Bakugo's glare intensified when Deku stood up and looked him in the eyes, "My "Deku" isn't always going to mean "useless!" Midoriya said defiantly. "Kacchan, my "Deku" means "You can do it!" Midoriya decided, screaming his resolve to his childhood bully.
Uraraka remembered when she told the boy those exact words, now watching the exchange with a deeper interest.
Bakugo stood to his feet, and Midoriya put his guard up. "Deku…" Bakugo growled as he looked at him, his anger rising as he recalled seeing this attitude before, 'If you keep going, I'll never forgive you!' A younger Deku flashed through Bakugo's mind, trembling as he defended another kid.
Now here Deku was, all grown up… and nothing's changed. "Even though you're scared…" Bakugo trailed, the blasts in his palms becoming more frequent, "That's what I hate about you!" He yelled, his fury overtaking him.
. . .
"What was Bakugo saying?" Kirishima's eyebrows furrowed, "Can't tell with just the cameras in a fixed position and no sound." The rest of the students were curious to know the answer as well.
"He's talking to his partner over the wireless radio." All Might enlightened his students "You can bring that plus the building's floor plan, and this capture tape!" He pulled out a roll of tape, "Once you wrap this around this around your opponent, it shows you've captured them."
There was a timer counting down, "The time limit is 15 minutes, and the heroes don't know where the weapon is located, right?" Ashido questioned.
"Yes!" All Might confirmed.
"The heroes are clearly at a disadavtange here!" Ashido commented, realizing how unbalanced the odds were.
"In a real world scenario, heroes aren't always going to be aware of when a villain will show up." Lucy spoke up as she studied the screen, "They don't play fair and a hero's job is to adapt to the circumstances." She recollected her time on Tenrou island when Grimoire Heart attacked them when they were sure they'd be safe, only to be entrapped on their own sacred ground.
All Might gave a thumbs up satisfied with the answer. The expression left of her face did strike him as odd… "That's correct! Heroes should be able to turn the tables on whatever predicament they're in. That's life. Even when the odds aren't in our favor, we fight!" He encouraged.
"Here we go…" The teacher's fist triumphantly raised to the air, "Plus Ultra!" The students said in unison with the teacher all to varying degrees of excitement, but each raising their fists.
"Bakugo's making a move!" Levy pointed, as everyone whipped their heads to the screen to watch the fight.
. . .
"Uraraka, go!" Midoriya commanded as Bakugo used his explosions to boost his momentum, sending an overhead kick towards Midoriya, which the nerd blocked. Uraraka didn't need to be told twice as she bolted away from the conflict.
"Looking away? You must be sure of yourself." Bakugo taunted, driving his leg further into Midoriya's shoulder, his eyes focused on Deku and saw his leg about to be bound, "The capture tape?!"
'Hero notebook number 10, page 18!' Midoriya thought robotically about his study of Eraser Head, even using yesterday's experience to guide him, "I'm glad I got to see Eraser Head's moves in person!"
He was hoping that he could capture him here and end this, but he knew it wasn't gonna be that easy. 'What's next?' His eyes darted over to Bakugo, 'If it's Kacchan, he'll be impatient and swing with his right again!'
Bakugo did exactly as Midoriya predicted, allowing Midoriya to successfully evade him, with Bakugo's attack colliding with the wall. 'I was right!'
The attack had once again formed a smokescreen of dust obstructing Midoriya's view of Bakugo, allowing him a second to breathe, 'He kicked first this time to keep me from predicting his moves.' The dust settled allowing Midoriya to see the glowering teen. 'He's being cautious now.'
Bakugo's stance shifted as he prepared to blast his way towards Deku. Midoriya noticed this and decided to tactfully retreat. Bakugo saw this as running away, "Come back here, Deku!" He called as he pursued the boy.
'I can't get close to him so easily anymore.' Midoriya sprinted away not wanting to engage yet, 'I need a plan. Should I try and test out my theory?' He thought urgently as he shook Bakugo off his trail.
Bakugo didn't know when he took a wrong turn, but he had lost Deku, "Hey! You tricked me, didn't you?!" He yelled out loud enough for Midoriya to hear, "Was it fun tricking me all this time?!"
From where he was running Midoriya flinched as he heard Bakugo's questions, realizing he wasn't just talking about the match. "Huh?!" Bakugo's voice reached his ears, "You've got a flashy Quirk there, don't you?!" Midoriya's teeth clenched as he listened.
"Try and get me with it!" Bakugo challenged, his hands igniting, "'Cause I'm better than you!" Bakugo was relentless in his pursuit, not letting anything get in the way of his target, literally smashing down doors to achieve his goal. 'I'm gonna find that damn nerd!'
Midoriya crouched around a corner, trying to calmly catch his breath. 'He completely ignored Uraraka and shot me. I knew it. If they were going to send an advance guard, it would've been better to send Iida, who has better mobility, and I'm sure Kacchan knows that.'
Midoriya knew that Bakugo was no slouch, and he could back up his talk. With equal amounts of bark and bite, his childhood friend had the brains to match, but his anger was blinding him. 'That probably means he's running wild on his own, and the two of them aren't working together.' Midoriya deduced.
'In the first place, our chances of winning are lowest if we have a head-to-head battle with those two.' Midoriya gathered, as of right now Uraraka's Quirk was the only functioning one that they have, and he didn't like their odds against Iida's high speed and Bakugo's precise explosions.
'If Uraraka and I both went to the hideout, that's what would happen.' Midoriya's thought continued, he pictured a couple of scenarios in his mind, 'And even if the two of us stayed here to fight Kacchan, we're in danger of running out of time.' He considered the time limit that they had to abide by.
As of right now, this is one of the better possibilities, having a higher rate of success if the fake villains stayed split up. 'This is fine. All that's left is for Uraraka to find the weapon and Iida, and then I'll head over for a 2-on-1 fight.'
'That's how we can win.' He visualized victory, 'That's assuming I can beat Kacchan, though. And there's only one way I have any chance at that…' He clenched his hand into a fist. 'It's fine. As long as I'm careful of his palms, I can do this.'
The explosive teen grew frustrated when he couldn't find Deku, "Where are you?! You damn nerd!" His voice bellowed throughout the area.
. . .
Meanwhile Uraraka peered her head out from behind a pillar, trying to be as subtle as possible 'Found it. Now I just have to tell Deku and hide until he gets here.' She decided just as she heard Iida talking to himself.
"Bakugo is a natural at being bad, but that fits this training perfectly." Iida commented from his spot by the bomb, "Then I must also devote myself to being a villain."
Not wanting to bring shame to his family in any form Iida took his role seriously, trying to become one with his part to maximize his learning, "Be dyed with evil in order to become a hero!"
"I am extremely evil!" Iida snarled with his most intimidating voice.
The heroine hidden behind the pillar struggled to keep in her laughter at the boy's commitment to his role, with Iida mostly coming off as harmless. Unfortunately for her, she didn't do a well enough job and her stifled laughter gained the armored boy's attention.
"Have you arrived, Uraraka?" Iida immediately questioned, alert. Figuring she was busted Uraraka stepped out of her hiding place with a nervous smile.
Iida pointed at the girl with conviction, "I knew you would come here alone the instant Bakugo ran off by himself." With Bakugo's obvious disdain for the freckled teen, he figured Uraraka would slip by, but no matter, he had already seen her in action.
"Your Quirk allows you to make the object you touch float. That is why I put away all the things on this floor before you arrived." Iida gestured to the spotless room around him. True to his word, it was completely empty, the ground sparkling with how meticulous he was in making sure the girl had no ammo. "Now you cannot play your little tricks!"
Iida laughed evilly at the girl, knowing he had the advantage here. Uraraka no longer found the situation as humorous as she had before, staring at her classmate in fear.
"He's starting to look… like a villain!" Uraraka gulped.
. . .
"Deku!" Uraraka's voice came through Midorya's earpiece.
"Uraraka! How's it going?" Midoriya asked.
"Iida found me. Sorry!" She reported. "I'm evil!" Iida's voice was faintly in the background.
"Right now, he's slowly…" She trailed off.
"Where are you?" Midoriya urgently pressed, needing the information in order to help.
"The middle of the fifth floor."
Midoriya looked at the ceiling as soon as the words were said, "Almost directly above!"
The green hero realized that they still had a chance but they were running out of time. Even if this battle was just a simulation he wanted to prove himself. He grabbed the capture tape, readying it. "I can't lose this fight!"
Bakugo's gauntlet hissed and Midoriya's head whipped around to see Bakugo standing there. Bakugo lifted his right fist up, his green grenade-like gauntlet taking focus.
"They're loaded." He said almost too calmly.
"Kacchan…" Midoriya uttered.
Bakugo still wasn't impressed, "Why won't you use your Quirk?" He was pissed, his pupils shrinking as he stared at Deku, "Are you saying you can win even if you don't use it?"
"Are you underestimating me, Deku?"
Midoriya gripped the tape tightly in his hands, 'I have no choice but to do it.' He decided, 'I can do it. I can!'
"I'm not scared of you anymore!" His body trembled as he spoke before his body steadied and emitted a slight glow. 'They called it a full-body takeover.' He focused his power spreading it throughout his body, 'Instead of just channeling the power where I need it, I should distribute it evenly throughout my body.'
Bakugo watched as Midoriya called upon his Quirk, his expression unreadable as the freckled teen powered up. Finally, the nerd was gonna use his Quirk, he had waited long enough, and his hands were itching to take action, but he wasn't going to act if his opponent wasn't serious.
'Now to lower the wattage like All Might said…' Midoriya lowered his power output not wanting to kill Kacchan or accidentally knock the building down.
His body glowed continuously as his muscles bulged slightly from the strain, 'I wish I had better control, but this is the first time I'm using it like this…' Midoriya felt the energy coursing through him, his power increasing without breaking any bones in his body.
'This is my One For All 1% Full-body Takeover.' Midoriya thought as he reflected on his teacher's advice as well as Lucy and Levy's memory. He could feel the potential of this power, he had only tapped into it in a way that wouldn't cripple his body, 'My muscles are still tense and I'm not sold on the name… but I'm doing it! I'm using my Quirk!'
Bakugo gave a cruel smile as he watched the elated boy, pissed that he's been holding back. "With your stalking, you probably already know…" He pointed his gauntlet at Midoriya, the boy slightly wavering, being brought back into the situation.
"My Quirk, Explosion, lets me secrete nitroglycerin-like sweat from the sweat glands on the palm of my hand and make it explode." Bakugo placed his opposite hand on his gauntlet revealing a hidden compartment with a pin.
"If they made it the way I asked, then these gauntlets will store the nitroglycerin inside them, and…" His finger looped around the pin.
. . .
While All Might wanted to jump for joy at watching Young Midoriya calling upon his Quirk, his joy was quickly replaced with concern as Bakugo revealed his ace, 'Don't tell me that's…'
"Young Bakugo, stop!" All Might demanded immediately over his intercom, hoping to end this before anything disastrous could happen.
. . .
"Are you trying to kill him!" All Might's worried voice rang in Bakugo's ears. He didn't care.
"If I don't hit him, he won't die!" Bakugo rationalized, fully pulling the pin out. The collected sweat mixed with the condensed blasts he sent through the gauntlet created a powerful explosion that traveled across the hall directly toward Midoriya.
"Consider this a warning shot! You better use your full power on me Deku!" Bakugo threatened the other boy as the blast closed in on its target. 'You're not gonna get me this time Kacchan!' Midoriya thought as he jumped over the beam towards Bakugo.
He laced his hands together and slammed his fists into Bakugo, the boy still in blasting position, "I'm not holding back anymore!" Midoriya cried as Bakugo was slammed into the opposing wall with a grunt, not expecting the attack.
Midoriya's muscles were on fire, practically screaming at him to stop, still not used to the foreign power, but his body wasn't broken… he could do this. He could stand up to Bakugo and finally even the battlefield a little.
"Bakugo, answer me!" Iida called as Bakugo cracked his knuckles, finally ready to get into it. "Did you do that? What in the world did you do? Explain yourself!"
Iida's voice cut out as Uraraka used that distraction to her advantage, using her quirk on herself to float towards the bomb, only to be foiled by Iida hastily grabbing the bomb and moving it away from the girl who upon her descent harmlessly rolled into the wall.
"Uraraka what's the situation?" Midoriya decided to check, worried about his partner and the objective. Bakugo's eye twitched at the boy's audacity.
"Ignoring me again? I can't believe him!" Bakugo was ready to get serious now.
. . .
"Sir you should stop them!" Kirishima pointed to the screen, as the footage displayed the massive damage Bakugo had caused with his attack.
"Yeah! Isn't this going too far for an exercise!" Lucy agreed with the spiky-haired redhead, having felt the quaking from where she was standing in the building.
"No…" All Might said softly, remembering that Bakugo promised not to do enough damage to stop the match, or how he opted to not actually hit Midoriya with his gauntlet's blast, even if the boy did dodge. 'Strangely enough, part of him is still sane. I don't know if it's small-minded or what, but anyway…'
"Young Bakugo," He pressed the button on his earpiece, "The next time you use that, I'll stop the fight, and your team will lose."
. . .
"Huh?" The blond teen frowned in response. "To attack on such a large scale inside is inviting the destruction of the stronghold you should be protecting." Both Midoriya and Bakugo paused to listen.
"That is a foolish plan for both heroes and villains! You will lose a lot of points for it!" All Might scolded, although he was torn, knowing that he should stop the battle, but his curiosity won the best of him.
"Go to the pillar by th-" Midoriya used this chance to speak to Uraraka, but he was silenced with a kick to his side, Bakugo's angry eyes fixed on him. "I thought I made it clear to take this seriously Deku!"
Midoriya's feet skidded across the floor as he tried to slow his momentum. 'That would've hurt way more if my Quirk wasn't activated…' Midoriya noted, regretting letting his guard down in front of Kacchan.
"I told you I'm not holding back anymore!" Midoriya yelled as he ran towards Bakugo, his speed slightly faster than usual, Bakugo was faster as he used his quirk to send him flying forward. Midoriya weighed his options and decided his best chance would be a counterattack, he punched forward, hoping his fist would connect with Bakugo.
Bakugo however anticipated this and used his Quirk to quickly change his course, flying over Deku, sending another blast to steady himself, and having had a decent amount of sweat sending a large explosion into Midoriya's back, the blast knocking off the other half of his mask.
. . .
The students cringed at Bakugo's blatant brutality, not realizing how Midoriya's attack didn't land. "Even with his Quirk, he missed! Bakugo's crazy! What was that just now!" Kirishima said with a mixture of horror and astonishment at his classmate's abilities.
A student with half his body covered in ice couldn't contain his thoughts, "He doesn't look like the type to think, but he's more subtle than I expected."
The students turned shocked, not having heard the boy really speak up before. "What do you mean?" Lucy asked, curious as to what her desk neighbor could be thinking,
"He changed his course in a blast that doubled as a smoke screen and then did it again immediately." He recounted his observations, causing Levy to see where he was going with this.
"He fought against inertia while simultaneously hitting his opponent, it takes a lot of skill to do one of those things, but to do both at the same time is impressive…" Levy admitted, to the group of students, "He needs to have a really good grasp on his Quirk to move like that."
"He's too talented… Too talented…" Kaminari droned, "Ugh…"
"It IS kinda scary…" Lucy confessed as the monitor showed Bakugo readying up for his next attack.
. . .
"It's your favorite right swing!" Bakugo called out, from behind Midoriya who was still trying to recover from the blast. Being warned beforehand due to Bakugo's cockiness helped as he braced his right arm, feeling the pain from being hit.
His Quirk allowed him to absorb more damage than usual. Still feeling the pain from the attacks mixed in with his tense muscles, he fought through it crouching down and avoiding Bakugo's grasp, just barely. Seizing the moment Midoriya's elbow connected with Bakugo's stomach sending the other teen stumbling back.
. . .
"Wow, Midoriya's actually able hold his own!" Ashido gushed as she watched the boy catch his breath, "And his bones aren't getting totally gross!"
"It does seem as though he's gained more control over his Quirk, although his technique is quite sloppy." Tokoyami commented, "It's understandable to see why he was admitted to U.A."
Levy watched Bakugo continue his assault on the boy, with Midoriya crossing his arms to absorb the blasts, "Bakugo clearly has the advantage of being so well versed in his Quirk…" She said as they watched Midoriya try to punch his way through Bakugo's defenses only to be countered.
"I thought Midoriya was pretty amazing, too." Kaminiri scratched his head, "But in terms of combat power Bakugo is definitely a ball of natural instincts." Kaminari relented, recognizing the boy's ability.
'I'm impressed… Young Midoriya picked up on One For All quicker than I thought he would…" He thought to himself relieved. He could tell that the boy was still struggling with his new Quirk, but now he had taken the first few steps to make it his own Quirk and All Might couldn't help but feel proud of that.
. . .
"I thought I told you to fight at full power." Bakugo said, slightly scratched, but overall fine. "Are you underestimating me?!"
"No…" Midoriya said trying to keep his power stable, second guessing his decision to test his theory during a fight with Kacchan, but he also considered that he'd be hurt worse if he hadn't.
Bakugo didn't believe him, "You've been like this ever since we were kids… Have you been underestimating me like that since then, you bastard?!"
Midoriya grits his teeth in frustration at these words, "That's not it…" Memories of Bakugo and him growing up together flashed through his mind, as he remembered his time as one of Bakugo's followers, watching his back… literally.
"You're…" He lifted his head as tears pooled around his eyes, his expression stern, "You're an amazing person, so that's why I want to beat you!" He revealed. Bakugo scowled at seeing that familiar defiant expression once again.
"I want to win and surpass you, YOU IDIOT!" Midoriya screamed as the red glow in his body intensified with his surging emotions.
"Don't look at me like that!" Bakugo hated how much that expression seemed to taunt him, "YOU DAMN NERD!"
Midoriya and Bakugo rushed towards each other. Bakugo's hand flowed with steam, as his palm charged up gathering heat. Meanwhile, "Detroit…!" Midoriya's body glows with a ferocity that shocks his classmates watching, his right arm began to bulge more as he directs more power to it.
The boys were both releasing battle cries as they accelerated towards each other, "Both of you sto-" All Might grew too nervous over the escalating battle and was ready to stop them before they killed each other, but someone had another idea in mind.
"Let's go, Uraraka!" Midoriya called into his earpiece, with Uraraka taking her cue and bracing herself against a pillar, "Okay!"
'I don't have enough control to beat you one-on-one…' Midoriya realized that he had to push himself, even if he couldn't win this fight against Kacchan, "...Smash!" Channeling his power into his arm and aiming his attack towards the ceiling the shockwave plowed through the building effortlessly, the force of the blow destroying windows and floors along the way. Unfortunately, this meant he left himself defenseless against Bakugo's attack which directly hit him at the same time.
The force of Midoriya's attack caused the debris to be swept upwards towards the sky. Several floors above them Iida and Uraraka both stood safe from the attack itself, but there was a gaping hole in the room. Uraraka used her Quirk on the pillar she was holding, easily able to dislodge it from the unstable structure "Sorry, Iida!"
She held the pillar like a baseball bat, "Improvised special move, Comet Home Run! Swinging with little effort due to canceling out the effects she swatted the debris passing through, scattering the pieces which rocketed towards Iida.
"You call that a home run?!" Iida used his arms to cover his face from the oncoming attack, and Uraraka used his lack of sight to evade his detection and soared over him using her Quirk.
"Release!" Uraraka canceled out her power, with a queasy tone, landing and wrapping herself on the goal of their target. "Retrieved!"
Iida sputtered as he looked at the apprehended bomb, "No! The weapon! The weapon! The weapon!"
Bakugo heard Iida's wailing, his gaze had already been glued to the ceiling ever since Midoriya launched his attack, "That's what…" Bakugo was pissed as he realized his plan, "From the start, you were…"
"You are underestimating me, aren't you?!" He roared, seeing how much power Deku held back.
"I tried to control it…" Midoriya's arm was still in the air, unfortunately, it had been mangled as he tried to keep up with Kacchan, "I overdid it… because I can't use it well yet… My body can't handle the impact when I use it too much."
Bakugo grit his teeth as he listened, the dust settling and giving him a view of Midoriya's useless limb. "Mr. Aizawa said so, too… I thought I figured it out." Midoriya croaked out, his body feeling the aftereffects already.
The dust continued to settle and Bakugo's eyes widened in surprise as he saw Deku's drained appearance. His nondeformed arm was slightly crisped from where Bakugo's attack had hit, his eyes staring distant as if in shock.
"...but this was all… I could think of…" Midoriya admitted, revealing this was only a last resort. The timer ticked its last few seconds before announcing time was up.
. . .
Everyone spectating the round was stunned over the exchange, not a single person being to utter a word at the events they just witnessed between their classmates/students, wishing their had been sound to hear the exchange leading up to such circumstances.
"Hero…" All Might broke the silence, speaking into his microphone, "Hero team… wins!"
It's 3 AM and i'm metaphorically crying as I finish typing this, believe it or not I thought that I was gonna be able to include Lucy and Levy's battles in this chapter as well, but it's definitely already long enough.
Anyways the changes to canon I mentioned before are making themselves known! So let me explain something, Izuku is basically using like a muuuch weaker version of full cowling. It's not exactly full cowling as he's just starting out, but it'll allow him to actually use his Quirk, but I didn't want to make it that easy for him, hence why he's using 1% of his power and the "takeover" for a name, he'll eventually learn how to do full cowling, but i figured i'd give him a chance, he hasn't exactly met the people necessary to inspiring the full colwing, but he'll get there, dint worry.
Can you tell I'm slightly sleep-deprived? I've never typed a fight scene that in-depth before, hopefully it was satisfying enough, cause honestly I'm taking liberties.
Anyway, every one of these characters still has room to grow, Levy will probably fight Todoroki next chapter for her round when I type it, but I have toooooooo proofread this a bit, and maybe edit these notes before posting…maybeeee...
Like always, thank you for reading and alllllllsooooo remember we're just here to have fun, so like let's all stay chill.
