Fairy Heroes Academia 7
Mock Battle Assessments
After having some medbots escort Midoriya on a stretcher to the nurse's office, and having All Might calm Bakugo down, they reconvened with the rest of the class to review the results of the test.
"Well, despite the results..." All Might began as the score displayed the Hero's win and the Villain's loss. "The MVP of this exercise is Young Iida!" All Might declared to the surprise of the other students.
"Shouldn't it be one of the heroes instead, since they're the winners?" Tsu asked, confused at his decision.
"Mm! Valid question." All Might hummed, repeating it, "Why didn't I choose one of those two? Who has a guess?!" He raised his hand!
Yaoyorozu wasted no time, "Sir! I can tell you why!" She also raised her hand, "Iida embraced this challenge. He was the only one who truly adapted to his assigned role."
"I'll explain." She continued, "Bakugo's judgment was clouded by a personal grudge against Midoriya. As you pointed out earlier, launching a large-scale attack indoors was a foolish move." The students all stood there listening to Yaoyorozu's analysis, impressed with her meticulous observations.
"Similarly, Midoriya's plan was also poorly thought out, considering the amount of damage that he received. He had a decent beginning but rendered himself helpless. Not smart. As for Uraraka… she let her guard down mid-battle, and her final attack was far too reckless given the hypothetical stakes. If she treated the fake weapon as though it were real, she never would've risked using such an imprecise move." She critiqued the Hero team.
"Iida was fully prepared for his opponent's arrival. He had a strategy and never lost sight of his mission to protect the dummy weapon." Iida quivered with excitement at the girl's preening, "Even if he was foiled in the end." She finished and Iida gave a humble, yet goofy smile at the recognition he received.
"Technically, the hero team won, yes, but they took advantage of the fact this was training. They didn't respect the spirit of the trial." Everyone stared at the girl unable to speak, Iida was moved to the point of tears.
'This girl has a really good eye on her.' All Might was slightly scared at this girl's ability to tell that much just visually and with a set of rules established prior. "Yes… Well, you overlooked a few things."
"Yeah, like Iida could've loosened up a bit more!" Levy laughed, slapping the boy on the back.
"All right, now you've pretty much nailed it!" All Might gave a supportive thumbs up, 'Man these kids might as well be teaching me…'
"One must always start with the basics and devote themselves wholeheartedly to learning. That's the only real way to become a top hero." Yaoyorozu said with a confident voice that matched her poised demeanor.
Lucy couldn't help but gaze at the girl a little sadly, her chest panged with sorrow as she was reminded of Erza. She was shaken out of her thoughts quickly as All Might pulled out the next set of Heroes and Villains.
"Now then. Time to blow this joint. Let's move on to the next match!" All Might said, "Think of everything we saw and discussed as you tackle this training for yourself."
"Yes, sir!" The students replied.
. . .
"Match two! Team B will be our heroes!" All Might's voice announced as Shoji and Todoroki stretched outside a building, "And Team I will be the villains!"
Ojiro and Levy were both preparing for the match as well. "Hey Ojiro." Levy called to the tailed boy as he stretched.
"Huh?"
"I really want to try to win this, so our best bet would be to take any kind of measurements we can against their quirks!" Levy suggested as she began to bend down and moved her finger along the floor, confusing Ojiro. "How're we supposed to counter their quirks if we don't know how they work?"
"Oh, there's a way to tell just from Mr. Aizawa's exam and their appearances!" Levy said, causing Ojiro to pause, "Like Todoroki is encased in ice, and Shoji got a particularly high score on the strength portion of the exam."
Ojiro thought about it, "I was so focused on trying not to fail that I hadn't really thought of it as an opportunity to gauge other people's quirks."
"Look alive, kids! Show us you're the embodiment of good." All Might's voice interrupted their conversation from proceeding, "Or evil! Let's go!" He hastily added as the alarm blared, signaling the beginning of the match.
Shoji expanded his arms and formed ears to listen throughout the semi-abandoned building. His Quirk, Dupli-Arms allows him to replicate different body parts on the tips of his tentacles.
His eyebrows furrowed and the ear shifted into a mouth, "It's strange, but I can't hear any traces of people in the building." He spoke to his partner, "They may be planning a sneak attack, but I wasn't aware either of their quirks could be used for stealth to evade detection like this."
Todoroki took a few steps forward, "For your own safety, go outside." He advised, "I'm sure our opponents intend to fight a defensive battle." He lifted his right hand, a cold haze radiating from his body, touching the wall with his right hand and the floor with his right foot, he encased the area with ice, "But we've already won."
The ice traveled down the hall, Shoji took that as his cue and walked out of the building, watching as the ice covered the outside of the building at a quick rate. He gasped softly at Todoroki's raw power.
'They should be stuck for now, but unfortunately, I don't know where they are…' Todoroki thought to himself as he ascended the stairs, 'If the last match is anything to go by, the bomb may be up on the higher levels, so I should check there…'
Before he could go any further he felt something hard slam into his back, "...Urk!" Feeling his body being sent forward he flipped around, clawing his hand against he ice as he slid back. He glared at Ojiro who had just slammed his tail full force into him.
"I'll be honest, I was expecting you to be frozen to the ground." Todoroki commented to the strangely quiet boy, upon further inspection, he could see strange purple symbols on the tailed boy's chest. 'What the…'
. . .
"Man, that guy's quirk is no joke!" Kirishima said, shivering from the effects of Todoroki's quirk being felt in the observing room.
"It seems McGarden was able to counter it with her own Quirk though…" Tokoyami commented as they watched the girl by the 'FIRE' she created, by her place next to the bomb.
"Yeah, but what's with the weird thing she did to Ojiro?" Sero said from behind his mask, as the students all looked at the purple symbols.
Lucy's arms wrapped around her body as she tried to regulate her it's temperature, silently wishing she could summon horologium. "Since when was she able to do that…" She said aloud thoughtfully, catching Jiro's attention.
"You know what those are?" Jiro asked through chattering teeth. Lucy nodded, "Levy's Quirk is based on letters, back home there were people who had similar letter-type Quirks, they used symbols called runes… I knew Levy's Quirk let her rewrite them, but I didn't think she could write with them!"
Everyone in the room was still confused with the explanation, "R-Runes?" Ashido's teeth chattered from the cold.
"Yeah, Levy's Quirk lets her usually materialize whatever word she wants, but runes work differently." Lucy explained, "The way she's using them on Ojiro, seems as though he's been given a command."
"Wait, seriously?" Kaminari gaped, "Isn't that a bit overpowered?"
"It s-sorta sounds like that American Hero, Star and Stripe." Uraraka chipped in, "Do you know what it says Heartfilia?"
Lucy looked closely at Ojiro, trying to read the words on the screen to the best of her ability. 'It's just like Freed's magic, but where did she learn how to do that…?" She closed her eyes thoughtfully, before remembering their first day in this world, 'Could it be from that book Crux gave her?'
. . .
"Ojiro I'm setting up some traps, just in case they do arrive here. Todoroki doesn't seem like a pushover, so watch out, alright?" Levy's voice spoke through Ojiro's earpiece, as he eyed the scarred teen.
'Her Quirk is canceling out the effects of the cold, but she wasn't sure how long it would last.' Ojiro thought to himself, 'For someone so small she's a smart girl, with a powerful quirk.' He didn't fully understand the girl's Quirk, but it came in handy to keep them warm, and had helped them stay off the hero's radar with her Solid Script, 'SILENT'.
Todoroki wasted no time lifting his right palm and sent a wave of ice towards Ojiro. The tailed teen leaped over it, flipping as he attempted to strike Todoroki with his tail, the icy teen raised his hand creating a wall of ice, he jumped back to put distance between them, as Ojiro's tail shattered the ice wall.
"This would be a lot easier for you if you just gave up." Todoroki said as he flicked his wrist, creating a column of ice under Ojiro, sending him toward the ceiling. Ojiro, while caught off guard twisted his body, jumping off the ceiling and flipping down to the ground, unfortunately, the still frozen floor affected his landing as he slipped hitting a wall.
Todoroki took this opening to send another wall of ice toward the boy, successfully hitting him this time. Ojiro's body flew through the air, frost lining his clothes, he slid across the floor, catching himself with his hands and feet, his tail steadying him.
"You truly have skill." Ojiro commented.
"You've lasted longer than I thought you would." Todoroki replied, "Tell me… Is McGarden's Quirk keeping you warm?" Todoroki asked, his eyes narrowing on the purple symbols. "It seems in line with how her Quirk works."
Ojiro nodded, "I don't feel the effect of the cold, it's a bit strange, to be honest…" Although he could clearly see and feel the ice, it was as if his body was protected by some sort of barrier, protecting his body temperature and keeping him warm, almost like magic. The ice that Todoroki had been shooting at him had certainly hurt on impact though.
"Ojiro! I got a plan if you can manage to lead them both back here." Levy informed him. Ojiro hightailed it to the door, leaving Todoroki no choice but to pursue him.
"Unfortunately, it seems as though only Todoroki entered the building." Ojiro replied to the girl. "So he did leave him behind… Ok that's fine, I had a backup plan in case that happened." Levy assured her teammate, who tried his best to outrun the other teen.
. . .
"He's crazy strong!" Kaminari exclaimed, "This is th-the kind of guy w-we have to compete wi-with?" He shivered.
"He's one of the students that got in on recommendation, isn't he?" Jiro said watching as the icy student chased after his tailed opponent.
. . .
Ojiro finally made it back to the room with the bomb, which had formed puddles from the fire Levy created. "Quick come over here!" Levy beckoned him to her side.
'The magic boost I received helped me do this, I'm nowhere near Freed's level, but I can take a few pages out of his book.' She slammed her finger down, the runes flashing before disappearing into the ground.
"What's that going to do?" Ojiro asked, eyeing the door for any signs of the teen.
"It should stall him, at least for a bit." Levy answered, "Now hurry and warm up by the fire, you're all frosty." She said as the door swung open.
"There you are." Todoroki's eyes widened as a purple barrier formed in front of him, "What is this McGarden?"
"It's simple hero, as long as you're in the space you have to follow the rules." Levy explained, "All we have to do is wait until time runs out, then we win." She smirked as Todoroki pounded against the barrier.
Todoroki gritted his teeth slightly before relaxing, "Clever strategy, villain." He thrust his right arm forward, encasing Ojiro and Levy's lower halves of their body. "I'll release you if you release me."
Levy and Ojiro both frowned as they struggled against the ice.
A crash sounded through the ceiling as Shoji entered, avoiding Levy's Jutsu Shiki. "Todoroki, I came to assist you. I've been listening in on everything. I'll apprehend them while they're still frozen."
"Not so fast."
Levy smiled, "This lines up with my original plan." She waved her arm dispelling the runes, before another set began to glow, trapping both Shoji and Todoroki. "I laid these out when I thought you'd both come charging in here."
The boys took defensive stances, as they focused on Levy who calmly spoke, "Only the hero who proves himself strongest can get past this barrier, those are the rules…"
The boys turned to face each other, "What is that supposed to mean?" Shoji asked, clenching his fists.
'The battle of Fairy Tail, it was the only villainous thing I could think of…' Levy thought to herself, "It means one of you will have to defeat the other in order to get past." Levy informed them before creating some heat to thaw herself out. 'Hopefully, they don't actually fight and just surrender or run out of time…'
"I see…" Todoroki muttered, before turning to Shoji, "If that's the case, don't take this personally." He placed his hand on the floor, his ice snaking its way toward Shoji. The tentacled teen jumped, finding it slightly difficult to dodge in this small space.
"Todoroki! There must be a way past this!" Shoji said, Todoroki shook his head, "We've wasted enough time already."
Todoroki froze the other teen's arms and legs, leaving him unable to move. Before he had a chance to react he was hit with a gust of wind.
"Sorry Ojiro, I didn't have time to unthaw you." Levy apologized, her body dripping with water. "It's fine, I can't even feel the cold thanks to you, I can't say the same for him though…" Ojiro nodded towards Shoji, who stood frozen and shivering.
"I didn't think they would actually fight." Levy admitted, before the room was encased in ice, the puddles freezing over once more.
A wave of ice approached Levy quickly as she raised her two index fingers, "Solid Script: Fire!" The fire strongly raged from her fingers, melting the ice. Todoroki rapidly approached, reaching out to grab Levy, the girl lept back, recasting her spell with Todoroki blocking his face with his arms, the fire heating him up.
Todoroki smirked slightly at his body heating up, raising his hand and sending chunks of ice at the girl. Levy frowned, Solid Script: Shield! Solid Script: Fire!" The words combined creating a flaming shield, making Todoroki's ice useless, while also heating him up from the heat emitting from the words.
Levy charged at him, slamming her leg into his side. Todoroki caught her and slammed her into the wall. Levy slid down, crouching to the floor before pouncing at Todoroki, he caught her fist mid-punch before slamming her back to the ground. Twisting her body off the ground she uppercutted Todoroki, who stumbled back at the impact, she quickly followed with a kick in the gut, knocking him back.
"Solid Script: Stone!" Levy's spell collided with a wall Todoroki barely managed to bring up last second. He rushed forward, "That's enough!" He grabbed her arms, freezing them to her sides, and she kicked him away.
"You need your arms to use your Quirk don't you?" He asked the girl who struggled against her icy restraints, "You noticed…" She replied, "Well I'm still not giving up!"
She rushed forward kicking at him, but he blocked most of her kicks before freezing her legs as well. "I should've done that from the beginning…" Todoroki muttered, thawing out Shoji, and returning his body heat to normal, the teen sighing in relief.
Levy and Ojiro both stood frozen, unaffected by the cold, but still stuck. Levy frowned as the Hero team was announced as the winners, 'We were so close to winning…'
Todoroki walked over to the bomb and began emitting heat, melting all of the ice he had created, which included thawing out his classmates.
. . .
The rest of the class shivered as they watched Todoroki work, Lucy's eyes were fixed on her downed friend, 'I hope she doesn't take this loss too hard.'
When the participants returned no one was injured enough for an immediate visit to Recovery Girl, but they did look sore and scratched up. It was once again time for class evaluations.
"That was a phenomenal display of your abilities children!" All Might boasted, before looking at the class, "Now then, would anyone like to critique or evaluate your classmates?"
"Todoroki pulled a total power move by turning the whole field into ice to disorient them!" Ashido declared with a wide smile on her face, "But McGarden also laid some traps that were totally out of this world!"
"Levy did end up having a major advantage with the control she had over the area." Lucy nodded, "But she ended up holding back out of fear of badly hurting her opponent." She added.
Lucy recalled their training together with Recovery Girl, Levy had used more force then, and had actually been utilizing more aspects of her magic. Levy's eyes widened slightly at Lucy's assessment. "She probably didn't realize she was holding back because she was focused on winning without any major offense, she was using a defensive strategy."
Levy sweatdropped at the explanation, not expecting Lucy to catch on to that. "As for Todoroki, he was overreliant on his strategy to trap them and ended up sidelining his teammate…" Tsu added, a finger to her chin, "He was a little overconfident, but he did end up winning and subduing everyone."
"Yeah, including his own teammate…" Kaminari muttered under his breath, he suddenly shuddered, feeling an icy stare coming from the scarred boy, "Not that he was really given much of a choice! Heh…" Kaminari quickly waved his arms, as Todoroki simply turned away.
"Ojiro put up a heck of a fight!" Kirishima gave a thumbs up, "Those were some manly techniques! I kinda wish I got to see you and Shoji fight." He admitted, curious of how the martial arts would match up against the tentacled boy's strength.
"Shoji shouldn't have rushed in and been more aware of his surroundings." Mineta shook his head, "He could've avoided being trapped by McGarden and being frozen by Todoroki."
All Might nodded at his students' information, "Hopefully they don't say anything too out of hand." He raised his fist, "You kids make excellent points! Young Todoroki started off strong by trying to incapacitate his opponents without damaging the bomb as well, an excellent strategy!"
The kids all nodded along soaking in All Might's words, "But as young Asui said, his overconfidence in his plan led to unforeseen consequences. It's good to always have a backup plan. And while confidence is a good quality to have, remember that everyone has their strengths and should not be underestimated." The teacher explained.
"As for Young Shoji, while it is good to follow a fellow hero's plan it's also beneficial for you to take more action, and while it is commendable that you rushed in to save Young Todoroki, you unknowingly rushed into a trap as well." Shoji found himself thankful for his mask, otherwise his light blush would've been obvious to the class. How could he let this happen when he wanted to be a stealth hero? He nodded thankfully to his teacher, reflecting on his latest performance.
"Young Ojiro and Young McGarden worked well as a team. They had delegated tasks, split the work, and had control of the situation a majority of the time." All Might's smile was directed at the pair before wagging his finger, "That being said, the quirks they were up against countered their's fairly well, though the same could be said vice versa." He nodded to the other team.
Levy nodded in understanding at the hero's explanation, 'Thinking about this logically it all makes sense why we lost, perhaps if we weren't given a time limit, or if this were more serious the results would be different…'
She vacantly scanned Todoroki as she was absorbed in her thoughts, 'It still wouldn't have been easy, the way he fights… It's almost like he's been training for this for years.' Her eyes fluttered to his face, focusing on his left eye, 'I wonder how he got that scar…' Todoroki glanced over at Levy, who whipped her head away from the boy.
"Many of the choices made were calculated, and some of the choices made failed." All Might started, "But that's why we do these simulations! To help ourselves grow and learn from our mistakes, a hero can adapt to a situation, and should always be prepared to face the unexpected." He flexed as he explained, "We must go beyond Plus Ultra!"
Everyone nodded, hanging on the number one hero's every word. Everyone, except Bakugo that is. He ground his teeth as he stared at his classmates, particularly McGarden and Todoroki, while he was ready for a challenge, he was pissed at the idea of them showing him up. He had barely made it on the top 5 of Aizawa's test, and by the looks of it, these extras meant business…
"Let's jet onto the next round!" All Might announced, the class agreeing quickly. "Yes, sir!"
. . .
Team J consisted of Kirishima and Sero as the villains, the latter of whom used his tape dispensers to surround the area around the bomb while Kirishima hardened his skin in preparation for his opponents.
As this went down Team H found themselves entering the building, Tokoyami sprouted two shadowy clawlike hands from his back, while Tsu crawled on the walls of the corridor.
. . .
Team C barricaded the door with iron bars. Well… Yaoyorozu barricaded the door as Mineta leered at her flirtatiously, causing the academic girl to glare are the grape gremlin.
Team G determined the faux villains' hiding spot by connecting the jacks that hung off Jiro's earlobes to the wall. She pointed toward the ceiling alerting her partner Kaminari of the other team's location.
. . .
Ashido slid into the building on her acid, "Surf's up!" She cheerfully called out as she gained speed, droplets of her acid splashing onto her teammate Aoyama's cape, causing the sparkly boy to weep internally. "Oops… My bad!" Ashido apologized, bashfully.
Team E continued with their ascent up the building to where they believed the bomb and Team F were hiding. Having seen the pair from a window outside they headed towards them as fast as they could. "I for one am not excited to be up against Heartfilia's insane-looking quirk, it sure is pretty to look at though…" Ashido told her teammate, Aoyama nodded his head in agreement.
"Oui! Heatfilia's quirk is très jolie!" Aoyama posed as if to punctuate his sentence, "Almost as sparkly as m-" As he started to twinkle he was cut off as Lucy kicked him in his face, donned in her Taurus outfit.
"Talking about me heroes? How flattering!" Lucy grinned as she swung her arm at Ashido, who blocked the attack but slid back to join Aoyama who was recovering by the wall.
Ashido immediately swung her arms at Lucy, the acid spraying Lucy and the area around her, "Stand down hero! And tell us where the bomb is!" Ashido played along, getting into hero mode, though she wasn't entirely eager to fight the other girl.
Grinning to herself despite her odds Ashido used the acid to slide over to the girl, she lowered her body and extended her leg, spinning rapidly, she swept Lucy off her feet, sending the girl into the acid. She had made sure the acid wouldn't be lethal and would be more of a slimy hindrance if anything.
Lucy got up, only for Ashido to bounce off the wall and repeat the same move, causing Lucy to grumble as she fell back into the acid. "If you do that one more time I might lose it!' Lucy got up quicker this time, her skin tingling from the acid, but not burning.
Ashido had given Aoyama enough time to recover from the kick he received, he relaxed his arms behind his head, his belt lighting up, as he winked at Lucy, "Sorry ma cherie, you won't be winning." He fired his navel laser at the girl, who slid clumsily out of the way.
Lucy was sweating slightly, not expecting this outcome, as Aoyama fired at her again. She slipped and slid avoiding his lasers, knowing that she just had to endure it until Aoyama tired himself out.
"It won't be that easy heroes!" Lucy grit her teeth as the laser nicked her leg, tearing her pants. Now that she noticed the tear she realized her clothing was emitting a small stream of smoke.
"Is the acid burning my clothes?!" She shrieked, her Star Dress was laced with magic, and protected her, despite how it covered her, but Ashido's acid wasn't something to scoff at. Aoyama hunched over, the stomachache becoming to unbearable for him to continue any more.
Ashido barraged the girl with her acid once again, Lucy decided enough was enough. Her body glowed as she activated her magic, she felt her clothes fade away and be replaced with another outfit.
Her hair was now tied up in pigtails, and she gained a bikini top with a zigzag design. Frilled, dark sleeves secured around her upper arms by a ribbon, along with a matching frilled, dark miniskirt tied with a ribbon styled in a bow to keep it secure. "Star Dress: Aquarius!" She announced, her collarbone proudly displaying Aquarius' zodiac sign.
. . .
"That's such a flashy quirk!" Uraraka's eyes shined as Lucy literally shined through the monitor. "I agree, it's quite interesting!" Iida chopped the air around him, "Each outfit gives her a different set of powers, it's phenomenal!"
"Her outfits are pretty cute, to be honest." Jiro admitted with a blush, "Not exactly a style I'd personally go for, but she makes them work."
"I'll say…" Mineta said plugging his nose despite some blood already leaking out, Jiro's earlobes extended to slap the short boy.
Yaoyorozu nodded, ignoring the pair's action, "She wears the outfits with confidence, and uses them wisely, such as when she picked up the bomb." She tilted her head towards the monitor, "Or like right now…"
Lucy twirled as she manipulated the acid around her, stopping it from hitting her body, and scooping the excess amounts off the floor, causing Ashido to stop her assault and visually wince while Aoyama lifted his head as he clutched his stomach.
"Man where does U.A. get girls like these!" Kaminari whistled, before shifting his gaze towards Levy, "Speaking of which, are you and Heartfilia from Japan, McGarden?"
Levy's heartbeat rapidly increased at the question, "What do you mean Kaminari?" Levy smiled in a friendly manner. "Well I didn't want to assume anything, but your surnames aren't exactly Japanese, so I figured I might as well ask." The electric teen scratched the back of his head.
"Oh! I see, that's completely fair!" Levy laughed, before she stared distantly, "No me and Lu aren't from here…" The rest of the class and even All Might found themselves listening to the bluenette.
"I don't know if she mentioned it, but we're suffering from a form of amnesia that left us with some blank areas in our memories." Levy explained, sticking to the story Granny created. Smiling softly she continued, "We remember coming from a small European village, where we're behind on technology, it's nothing like where we are now. People primarily communicate with letters and don't even know what a text is!" She laughed to herself.
The class couldn't believe what they were hearing, even without memories, they had demonstrated smarts and skills. Levy had even gotten the highest score in the written exam! "So how did you end up here, ribbit?" Tsu asked, curious about the situation.
"Lu and I have always wanted to help people, for as long as we could remember." Levy said, "We remember some of our friends, basically our family." Levy suppressed the sadness seeping from her heart, instead focusing on the bonds she formed, "They were like heroes to us, we can't remember the village where we came from, we don't have any leads either, we woke up in Japan and discovered the differences made here and the heroes who protect anyone in need."
The class hung onto every word that came from the girl's mouth, some sensing the underlying sadness in her tone. What could you even say in a situation like that?
"On our first day here we got into a little… altercation with a villain and we were saved by All Might himself!" She gestured to their teacher who beamed back at the girl, though he too was sympathetic to the girl's circumstances. "We were checked out by Recovery Girl who took us in and helped train us to enroll to become heroes, really we owe her for a lot."
Now the class was reeling. This was like something straight out of a movie! Or a very ambitious story…
'It's better to cement the story straight at the beginning so we have an excuse for questionable behavior, although it is crazy when I lay it all out like that.' Levy reflected on the events that led up to this point. "Even if we don't fully know what's going on, we want to help people, and Recovery Girl told us the easiest way to do that was to be heroes, so we're gonna be the best heroes we can be!" She finished determined, the somber atmosphere fading and being replaced with positive energy.
"That's so manly!" Kirishima wiped a tear from his eye.
"Yes, very well said." Yaoyorozu smiled, nodding in approval.
"It will be an honor to join you both on this journey McGarden!" Iida adjusted his glasses, "Please feel free to ask for any assistance if you have trouble remembering or adjusting to things."
Almost all of the class chimed in support of Iida's suggestion, leaving Levy touched, "Thanks you guys, there has been a little bit of a culture shock, but I'm sure we'll all get strong and become heroes together!"
Bakugo, being one of the two silent this whole time along with Todoroki, clenched his fists finally recognizing the girls from the day with the Sludge Villain. He didn't think he would ever see them again, the girls who rushed in with Deku… He practically snarled as he brooded in the back of the room. He couldn't stand the thought of being shown up by anyone.
. . .
Lucy gathered all the acid thrown at her and redirected it back at Ashido and Aoyama covering them in the acid. She smirked, relieved that her idea worked, although the pair remained somewhat unaffected.
Ashido surfed forward, hurtling herself toward Lucy, "That didn't even phase me!" She grinned, jabbing at her pretend enemy. Lucy blocked it with her palm. Using her other arm to block Ashido's acid-covered arm arcing towards her. She kicked Ashido away and lept back, narrowly avoiding a laser shot by Aoyama.
'That was close…' Lucy softly panted, "You two aren't bad." She grinned, "Too bad you aren't getting any closer to the bomb."
The heroes both found themselves agreeing with her, though not verbally. Ashido took charge again kicking at Lucy with her right leg, making Lucy skid towards the wall. "Aoyama, go on ahead and head to the bomb, I'll keep her busy!" Ashido called to the boy who took off at her order.
"And what makes you think I'll let him get away?" Lucy teased, gathering the acid in the room once again, sliding towards Aoyama, who had bolted up the stairs. Her sandals were smoking as they kept themselves together with magic, though her feet tingled once again, she gained sight of Aoyama who's outfit was also smoking, although also seemingly keeping together, some of the material looking slightly melted.
Aoyama dramatically leapt as he kicked a door down, "Arrêt! I am here to stop you villai- Quoi?" Aoyama scanned the empty room, "Where's the bomb? I was sure it was here…"
Lucy laughed behind him, causing Aoyama to swiftly turn around, "What have you done with the bomb, canaille!" Aoyama pointed at the girl. "Oh, that?" Lucy checked her nails, "We moved it at the beginning of the match to a more secure location, lots of open space."
"My Taurus dress gave me the strength I needed to lift that bomb no problem." She grinned, "It was pretty tricky moving it carefully actually… It's pretty big." She slightly sweatdropped.
"Don't forget about me!" Ashido tackled Lucy which crashed them into Aoyama leaving them all stumbling into the room. The three quickly rushed back up to their feet, and the heroes felt themselves stumped while Lucy stood there with a victorious smile.
Now deeper into the room and getting a closer look they noticed a hole in the corner of the room that was around the size of the bomb. Aoyama shot lasers at Lucy, while Ashido ran up to the hole, examining the area outside, looking down at the ground and looking up, she suddenly thought of something.
"Aoyama, they couldn't have gotten it that far, it must be outside!" Ashido called over to him, Lucy pouted, "You don't know that…"
"Ah, you must be right!" Aoyama agreed, "We didn't hear anything on the lower levels, so perhaps they went up higher, non?"
Ashido's eyes lit up, "The roof! She said that there was a lot of space for it! They must've taken it up there!" She grabbed Aoyama dragging him with her as she surfed directly towards Lucy, attempting to shoulder charge her, but Lucy sidestepped the attack… allowing them to slide directly out the door.
Lucy face palmed at herself for letting them get passed her, watching Aoyama flail his arms to avoid slipping did make her feel better. She stepped on the acid and allowed the liquid-like material to propel her forward utilizing her Star Dress' power.
Ashido sprinted as she dragged Aoyama up the stairs as fast as her legs could take her. Eventually making it up to the roof where Koda nervously stood pressing his hands together in front of the bomb.
"There you are Villain! Prepare to lose!" The pink teen stepped forward, ready to win when Aoyama yelped behind her. She turned around and noticed some birds perched on him, "Huh?" She stood confused as more came and began to swarm him, hindering his movement.
She looked up and noticed more birds circling them. One suddenly stopped flapping its wing, diving straight for Ashido, she gasped and ducked, watching the bird flap and retreat to the flock after missing. "What's going on?"
"Koda's quirk is Anivoice, he can communicate with animals and even give them orders." Lucy made herself known to the group as Ashido turned to face the girl, "While I distracted you he's been talking to some pretty birds!" She chirped, surprised that this had worked out so well.
A few birds took those moments to swoop down and strike Ashido, while she was focused on Lucy. First one hit, another, and another, Ashido threw up her arms coated in acid to shield herself, but she ended up stumbling and tripping over Aoyama's feet exposed in the cloud of birds restraining his movement. The birds stopped attacking as Ashido fell off the edge of the roof.
'So much for working out well!' Lucy frantically thought as she dived off the edge with no hesitation, Ashido was waving her arms as she tried to slow her fall in panic. Lucy hurled down to her as her clothes once again lit up. Engulfed in light, she reached out for Ashido's hand. Stunned, Ashido watched mesmerized, almost as if she forgot she was falling, and grasped Lucy's hand. "Star Dress: Aries! Wool cushion!"
Spirals of pink wool sprouted from Lucy's free hand, safely allowing them to land unharmed. "Ashido are you okay? That wasn't supposed to happen! I'm so sorry!" Lucy apologized as Ashido patted the wool, humming with how soft it was.
"Are you kidding me? That was a total accident!" Ashido assured her, "You totally just saved my butt a trip to the nurse!" Ashido beamed at the other girl brightly.
Lucy laughed in relief as the timer went off, "TIME'S UP! The villain team wins! Please return for evaluations!" All Might's voice concluded.
Both girls nodded at each other as they hopped off the clouds, "It's a shame, I really wanted to win. But I'm not mad that I lost to you, that's a wild quirk you have girl!" Ashido laughed good-naturedly. "It was a good fight Ashido." Lucy giggled.
"Call me Mina."
. . .
"Excellent work students!" All Might complimented the kids upon their return. "What a fantastic display of adaption, utilizing your quirks to fit your surroundings as well as communicating effectively with each other."
"How did you come up with that plan anyway?" Sero questioned Lucy and Koda, surprised by their tactics.
"Well after I learned what Koda's quirk could do, I figured we should get to an area where he could talk to some animals, and leaving the bomb alone didn't seem like a great option." Lucy explained, as the class followed along, "We decided I would buy us some time by intercepting Mina and Aoyama, by the time they got up there the birds were supposed to be ready to restrain them like they did Aoyama so we could win easily, but some of the birds were aggressive…" Lucy trailed off.
Koda apologetically bowed to Mina, who waved him off, "I already said it's fine Koda, there was no harm done!" She smiled cheerfully, as Koda rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
"Speaking of which, fantastic save Young Heartfilia! Although, it wasn't very villainous." All Might teased the girl who laughed. "Very cool!" He praised.
Todoroki and Bakugo both knew this girl's outfits gave her strong abilities, but to see her use them interested them more. They both wanted to be the best, and this girl surprisingly seemed to be someone to watch out for.
. . .
"That's a wrap! Super work. You really stepped up to the plate." All Might had gathered the class back outside once the final evaluations were over. "And we didn't have any injuries except for Midoriya. You should be proud!"
"Excellent first day of training, all around!" All Might gave a thumbs up.
Tsu raised her hand, "It's nice to hear some encouraging words, after our homeroom class." An image of Aizawa Sensei's crazed eyes and smile flashed through their heads, "Mr. Aizawa was kind of a buzzkill." Tsu plainly stated.
"I'm happy to bring such positivity to my alma mater! That's all for, now folks." All Might waved, "I should go and check on Young Midoriya's progress! Now watch how a pro exits. Like he's got somewhere to be!" He bolted off, causing the students to gasp at his super speed.
"Okay, you guys that is a hero!" Kaminari grinned.
"Aw, I'll never be able to run that fast." Ojiro pouted.
"Super awesome!" Mineta shook with excitement.
All Might continue to run while reflecting on today's events, 'Young Bakugo really is overflowing with pride. His ego may be justified but a school like U.A. is bound to shatter it. As his teacher, it's my sworn duty to counsel him well.'
'Young Heartfilia and McGarden, their intentions seem noble, and they have no malicious intentions, but with their amnesia, they're a mystery…' His body began to smoke as he coughed slightly, 'But that thought will have to wait.'
Finally escaping everyone's view he allowed himself to slip, 'I can't hold this form any longer!' His body shrunk in on itself, leaving him skinny once again and panting in exhaustion. 'I barely have enough time to teach a class. Shit.'
. . .
"Soo when did you learn how to do runes?" Lucy asked Levy as they sat in the classroom with the other students who were discussing amongst themselves in groups. Midoriya walked in and some of the students rushed to talk to him, leaving the girls with some privacy if they talked low and semi-vague.
"Crux gave me a book on it, and with all this magic in the air basically shooting out of us I didn't think it'd hurt to try. Being stuck here I had the time to study it, …and it's really useful." Levy explained, pulling the book out.
"Dark Ecriture though?" Lucy asked, slightly curious, "That's pretty crazy."
Levy bit her lip slightly, nodding, "I was waiting to tell you until I got a better hang of it, I'm still a novice, so I can't do anything crazy like Freed, but maybe with practice…"
"Just please don't tell me you want to follow Laxus around." Lucy joked as Levy playfully punched her shoulder. "You have some really good friends Lu." Levy said putting the book away, as Lucy softly clutched her keys, "I know…"
Uraraka and Kaminari entered the room carrying books and having a conversation, "So, anyway, wanna grab a bite sometime? Kinda stuff you like?" Kaminari asked with a grin.
"Anything sweet." She answered politely, before perking up, "Hey Deku!" She rushed over to said teen leaving Kaminari groaning at his failed date attempt.
"Why didn't she heal your injuries?" She asked in concern.
"Well, it has to do with how much stamina I'm using." He chuckled at his own explanation, having heard it more times than he should've at this point.
"Stamina?" Uraraka tilted her head in confusion.
"Oh yeah Granny's quirk requires stamina to heal injuries, the more serious the injury the more stamina required." Lucy spoke up, "And Midoriya did look pretty rough."
"He almost had him too!" Levy shook her head at the memory, "What a fight."
Midoriya's eyes wandered over to Bakugo's empty desk, "Where's Kacchan?"
"We tried to stop him from leaving. But he wouldn't listen. You just missed him." Uraraka explained, as Midoriya turned and ran out the door.
"Whoa, Midoriya you shouldn't exert yourself!" Lucy called, before rushing after him, with Levy tailing the blonde girl.
As Midoriya ran to catch up to Bakugo he couldn't help but replay the scene in his head…
"Hey! You tricked me, didn't you?!" He yelled out loud enough for Midoriya to hear, "Was it fun tricking me all this time?!"
From where he was running Midoriya flinched as he heard Bakugo's questions, realizing he wasn't just talking about the match. "Huh?!" Bakugo's voice reached his ears, "You've got a flashy Quirk there, don't you?!" Midoriya's teeth clenched as he listened.
"Try and get me with it!""
Midoriya finally saw the front gate of the school, and Bakugo's figure steadily walking out. "Kacchan! Wait up!" Midoriya called.
Bakugo paused, slowly turning his head and growling "What?"
Midoriya shut his mouth, 'I haven't told anyone this secret. Not even my mom.'
"I have to tell you something. Maybe then, you'll understand what's been going on." Midoriya spoke seriously, "I wasn't hiding my Quirk from you. It was given to me by someone else. Recently."
Bakugo turned with a small hum, and Midoriya tensed up, "But I can't tell you who I got it from, so don't ask! Sounds crazy, I know. It's like something out of a comic book. Only it's real."
"The thing is, I'm still figuring out how to control this power." He explained, "I thought I had it, but I haven't figured out how to make it my own, but I'm trying. That's why I tried to refrain from using it at first against you in the exercise. In the end… I lost control and put too much into it so that I had a better chance at winning."
Bakugo was seething at this confusing explanation from the shitty nerd, "I've still got a lot to learn. I know that. That's why I'm here." Midoriya admitted, "You'll see. I'll work until I have more control of this borrowed Quirk."
"And I'll finally beat you with my own power!" Midoriya vowed, leaving Bakugo looking absolutely flabbergasted. Noticing Kacchan's expression made Deku gasp in complete disbelief at the words he just uttered.
'Oh, crap, what am I saying?! I only meant to tell him that I wasn't tricking him!'
"How dumb do you think I am?" Bakugo turned to fully face Midoriya, "Borrowed Power?"
"Don't talk to me like I'm an idiot. You already made a fool out of me in that damn training exercise. So?" Bakugo's voice became frustrated, "Did you come here to rub it in? I lost. And to make matters worse, it was to you."
"I came first in the exam, but that's not enough!" He exclaimed, "When I was watching that ice guy, I realized I couldn't beat him in a head-to-head fight."
"Launching a large-scale attack indoors was a foolish move." Yaoyorozu's assessment came to mind, as he gripped his head, "Crap! I even agreed with what that girl said. My attack was so stupid! Even those girls with amnesia are making better choices than me… Damn it!" He flashed to blondie's battle where she was on top of it the whole exercise.
"Damn it, damn it, damn it!" He clenched his fist, "Enjoy that win, Deku. You won't get another!" He lifted his head, his face angry as tears threatened to spill from his eyes, "I'm just getting started! Got that?! I'm gonna end up the number one hero no matter what!"
Midoriya stared at his old friend with determination as Bakugo turned away, "You'll never beat me again, you bastard. Don't even try. You better treat me seriously from now on."
Midoriya sighed in relief, wondering how the hell he was still alive. "There you are!" All Might's voice called as he sprinted.
"Baku-Go! I found you!" He proudly placed his hands on the teen's shoulders, "Just so you know, pride is an important attribute to have. But while you certainly have abilities to become a pro hero, there's still plenty you have to learn!"
Bakugo wiped at his eyes, "Let go of me, All Might. Right now."
"Hm?" All Might's gaze lowered to meet the angry teen's eyes. "Save your speeches. I'll be more famous than you, and I'll do it without your help." Bakugo announced.
"Uh… Right." Sputtered All Might, 'I guess he's already over it. Man. Being a teacher is hard.'
A couple of classmates had been watching from the window, but hadn't been able to hear a word of the two's exchange. But two heads poked from behind a nearby pillar, and looked at each other in confusion. "Did you hear all that Levy?" Lucy asked as they both hid behind the pillar.
"I did, but what does it even mean?" Levy questioned receiving nothing but a shrug from her best friend.
Hey gang, it's me! Sorry about the long wait, real life got in the way and I psyched myself out with this story and my ideas for a moment, but then I realized I have time to commit to this, and I want to see it through. I know it was kinda wild to give Levy more magical abilities, but my girl deserves it, and honestly, I'm planting so many seeds right now and I'm just gonna continue to plant them as time goes on. I don't remember if I said it, but the excess magic in the air is similar to Elefsaria in FT the 100-year Quest, except since there's hardly anyone accessing it, their powers are enhanced using the power of fiction and creative liberties. I didn't proofread this as well as I could've and there are probably mistakes but I'm eager to post this. Expect an update sooner rather than later. ALSO thank you all so much for the 100 favorites on here, I was not expecting that, and I hope you enjoy the story!
