After our conversation, Todoroki, Deku, and I went to the cafeteria. I was eating with the two of them when Kaminari and Mineta approached us.
"Hey L/N. Aren't you going to get ready with the girls?" Mineta asked
"I'm eating go away Mineta," I told him coldly. I didn't like the pervert and besides I had to make sure to finish my food. I almost passed out after the race.
"Whoa L/N you shouldn't be so harsh. He just wanted to make sure you didn't get in trouble" Kaminari said.
"Why would I get in trouble?" I asked looking solely at Kaminari.
"Well, I thought you being a class deputy and all you would already know. You're supposed to wear those uniforms" Mineta said pointing at a group of girls I've never seen "for the cheering contest later today. This is coming from Aizawa himself" Mineta finished talking. Deku looked over and started blushing before turning back to his food pretending he saw nothing. Todoroki also looked over but had no reaction.
"Kaminari where are we supposed to get those anyway?" I asked him.
"Oh, Yaoyorozu is already making them. The girls are in changing in the locker rooms right now" he replied.
"Fine. I'll join them after I finish eating" I told them, and they walked away.
'From Aizawa sensei himself. I really doubt that' I told myself as I finished my food.
"Is something wrong?" asked Todoroki.
"I don't think Aizawa would have the girls do this. I'm going to go find him and figure out what's going on." I said while getting up.
"You'll be late for the next round if you do that," Deku said.
"I know but I rather make sure," I say before heading to the teacher's lounge. I knocked on the door before entering. "Hello, I'm coming in. It's Y/N L/N" I announced and opened the door.
Once in I saw All Might surrounded by a small cloud of smoke that quickly disappeared, Present Mic who was spoon-feeding Aizawa since both his hands were bandaged up. Midnight in the back eating by herself. I looked directly at Aizawa whose eyes were wide. I couldn't see his face since it was all bandaged up.
"I apologize for the intrusion, but I have a question regarding the cheer uniforms and why we are required to be in them," I asked directly at Aizawa.
"What are you talking about?" He asked sounding confused and frustrated.
'I knew it was a lie'
I explained everything that Mineta and Kaminari had told me. I was expecting Mineta to be expelled right then and there but because it wasn't considered sexual harassment. It was considered a prank and Mineta was suspended for 2 days and a week of detention, Kaminari was given detention for 3 days since he didn't have a history of doing these things like Mineta. They would deal with those two after the Sports Festival.
I was walking with Midnight to tell the girls what was going on but as soon as I entered the door I was bombarded by the girls without mercy.
"L/N WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG?!" asked Uraraka
"WE'RE GOING TO BE LATE QUICKLY UNDRESS!" Ashido said as she tore off my gym uniform.
"H-hey w-h-what are y-you doing?!" I yelled as I tried to get her off me.
"NO TIME PUT THIS ON!" I heard Youyorozu yell as she tossed a cheer uniform to Ashido and she started to put it on me.
"S-ST-STOP!" I yelled I was so flustered at the situation I lost my voice. I looked at Midnight for help, but she was just standing at the door with an amused look on her face. Before I knew it they put me in the cheer uniform, and I could tell my face was red. I hated this feeling. I didn't like how I looked I wasn't in shape like the other girls. I never let it bother me when it came to train and hero stuff but being surrounded by the girls in something so trivial was finally showing my insecurities.
I was covering my stomach with one hand and pulling my skit down with the other. My legs were so much thicker than theirs and I was always a heavier set than most Japanese girls. This was the first time I wore something so revealing. The girls finally realized what was happening when I wasn't listening to them or even looking at them anymore. I was just looking at the ground ashamed of what I looked like.
"Ok, that's enough. Girls change back into your PE clothes. Mineta and Kaminari lied to you and there is no need for this" Midnight said.
"Why is it that I always end up falling for that little pervert's stupid schemes," Yaoyorozu said sadly. "I even used my quirk to make these outfits"
"Seriously girls," Midnight says while still standing outside of the locker room with the door open, "only L/N thought about asking"
"Well we wanted to but we didn't want to be late" Uraraka answered.
"Midnight" I heard a familiar voice call out to the hero. It was Deku and Todoroki was with him standing behind her. They looked inside the locker and Deku immediately turned red and looked away "I'm so sorry I shouldn't be looking inside the locker room!" he squealed.
I looked up when I heard them, and I made eye contact with Todoroki. He didn't look anywhere else but my face. I was too embarrassed I jumped behind some lockers to hide slamming my back onto other lockers.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU GUYS DOING?! LEAVE!" I yelled out covering my body with my wings.
'Dammit, I need to calm down. The next part is a tournament and I just exposed my damn insecurities' I lectured myself trying to control my breathing.
Everyone was a bit shocked, to say the least. But the boys left with Midnight who scolded them for looking in. Yaoyorozu changed back quickly. I was still changing back when she looked at me as if she wanted to say something but decided against it. Uraraka and all the other girls stayed back to see why I reacted that way. I ended up telling them the truth about how I felt about my body and they seemed to understand. Although Ashido seemed to be angry at my opinions of myself.
"Are you insane?! I would kill to have soft-looking legs like yours!" Ashido exclaimed.
"L/N you're extremely pretty and besides you told me once that you never had actual training. You trained all on your own up until now. Just you wait! Once you can beat some villains up good it'll be the best feeling ever!" Uraraka said.
I was starting to tear up a bit "Thank you Uraraka"
"Ochaco, Call me Ochaco," she said. I looked up at her surprised that she would say that.
"Yeah, you're too formal L/N. We're all friends you know, you need to start calling me Mina" Ashido added.
"Call me Tsu"
"A-are you certain? I-I mean I'm not comfortable w-with my name being u-used l-like that" I told them.
"No no! We don't want to pressure you into letting us call you by your first name! We just want you to use our first name because we're comfortable with it" Mina said.
"Yeah, you don't need to worry about it kero," Tsu said.
"If it makes you feel better I still prefer Jirou"
"T-thank you. You all are truly amazing friends" I said to them. They all changed and left leaving me alone to change more comfortably. I was leaving the locker room when I saw a blond walk by. The anger inside me rose and I flicked my wing throwing ice to encase him along with his tiny friend.
"W-what the heck?! O-oh hey L/N" Kaminari said in a weak tone. I didn't bother to hide my anger from my face. I looked over at Mineta who looked as if he was about to die. He wasn't wrong.
"Listen here, you perverted little runt. Pull another stunt like that and expulsion is not the way you will be leaving this school. Do I make myself clear?" I said while crouching down at his level.
"P-p-perfectly c-cle-clear!" he whispered. I tightened the ice around him while making him levitate throwing him towards the stairs next to our class seats. When I released my ice he ran outside crying. My feathers start to warn me that someone was approaching from behind me. Ignoring my feathers thinking it was a teacher I looked over at Kaminari who looked less scared than Mineta but still terrified.
"I expect this behavior from the trash can but you Kaminari. I thought you were better than this. I had respect for you and your abilities." I said as I released him from the ice letting him step out. Once he was out of the ice I melted it so he wouldn't get wet.
"I'm s-sorry L/N," he said while looking at the ground. He looked up and his eyes went wide as he looked behind me. My feathers had already told me someone was behind me but the heat coming from behind me made me begin to worry. I slowly turned around and saw Endeavor.
'Crap I should listen to my wings more' I thought knowing well he just saw me use my ice of the boys.
"Leave us" Endeavor commanded. Kaminari left hesitantly. I turned around to face Endeavor once Kaminari was outside with the rest of the class. I kept my face composed although I already had an idea of what he was going to say.
"You really thought you could get away with lying to me and Shoto did you? Think you can leech off him to better yourself? I'm the number two hero. I took a better look into you. Adopted at the age of 5 with the quirk of wings and ice. At the age of 7, you burned your family home down when your second quirk manifested, flames. You really thought I wasn't going to find out this information?" he confronted me head-on with all of this.
"Shoto and I started training together because our quirks were similar. You may know details about me but this is the first conversation you've bothered to have with me" I told him flatly.
"So he knew. Hmph. You are to stay away from Shoto. You are only an obstacle he needs to defeat. I will now allow some girl to get in the way of my plans for him"
"No. If Shoto wants to keep training together then that is what we will do. Simple as that" I said to him and started walking towards the arena. I didn't hear anything from him after that.
I walked outside and spotted Todoroki immediately. I quickly made my way toward him and whispered "Your dad knows about my quirks"
He looked down at me "How?"
"He did his research it seems. He knows details about me I haven't told anyone in the class," I told him
"What else did he say?" he asked looking a bit more worried.
"He told me to stay away from you," I said flatly as I looked up at him. He looked a bit concerned. "You don't need to worry I said no. Who you and I choose to spend our time with is up to us, not him," I told him as I crossed my arms to look at Midnight who was at the front.
Midnight began to tell everyone that we could choose to participate in the recreational games that were held for those who weren't going to be in the tournament. From there she asked us to form a line to choose our number to see who we were going to be up against. Just then a hand flew in the air.
"Um, excuse me. Sorry. But I'm withdrawing" Ojiro said catching everyone by surprise.
"Ojiro why?" I asked
"This is a really good chance for you to get scouted Ojiro!" Iida said.
"It wouldn't be right! I don't remember anything from the cavalry battle. I think it has to do something with that guy's quirk" he said as he looked over at Shinso.
'He must have used his quirk during the cavalry battle. Strange but I remember when he used it on me! It must have been a side effect of him using it on multiple people.' I thought. I hadn't told the class about Shinso's quirk. I told no one about it, it was never brought up so I hadn't told anyone.
"Nirengeki Shoda from class 1-B. I'll be withdrawing too. Regardless of how strong I am, I will be withdrawing for the same reasons," Shoda said while raising his hand.
"Listen to these guys they're so manly!" Kirishima said while crying while standing next to Bakugou and Sero. I looked back at Midnight waiting for her response. She just glared at the boys.
"This sort of talk is incredibly Naive my boys. THAT TURNS ME ON!" She exclaimed as she used her whip for dramatic effect. "Shoda! Ojiro! You are withdrawn!"
'D-did she just say, that turns me on?! This is a High School Event. WHO LET HER BE IN CHARGE OF THIS!' I thought. I couldn't help but facepalm at her words.
"Now we will have to move two students from the 5th place calvary team so we have enough contestants." Midnight said while looking at a group of girls from class 1-B.
"We were frozen the entire time. We don't deserve that honor, right girls?" a girl with a side ponytail said. Soon enough the girls behind her nodded in agreement. "You should get someone who deserves it. Someone from the Tetsutetsu team"
'Tetsutetsu? That name sounds familiar'
"KENDO!" I heard someone say somewhere off in the distance. I looked over towards the voice and it was the guy who had crashed into me in the minefield. "Seriously guys THANK YOU!"
"Very well! With that Tetsutetsu and Shiozaki will be advancing to the final round! NOW! Attention to the screen my dears! THESE ARE YOUR OPPONENTS!"
'Great. It looks like I'll be facing off with Yaoyarozu first' I thought to myself as I studied the board. I was worried since Deku and Shinso were going to be facing off first.
"You are Midoriya are you not?" I heard Shinso ask the greenete off in the distance. "I'm excited to be facing off with you first. Are you?"
"Y-ye-" Deku was cut off by Ojiro's tail.
"Not so fast Midoriya," Ojiro said as he glared at Shinso. The class didn't know I knew Shinso and supported him. Only the ones that were there knew. I could feel the tension coming off Ojiro even from a distance. Shinso just smirked and started walking toward me and Todoroki. "You can't say a word to him Midoriya"
"Ojiro what's the deal?" Deku asked. Shinso was now standing with me but I stayed focused on the conversation Ojiro was having with Deku. I was reading Ojiro's lips since he lowered his voice so I wouldn't hear him.
"I think his quirk has something to do with him speaking" was all I was able to get as Ojiro turned to leave with Midoriya.
"You didn't tell your class about me?" Shinso asked.
"No, I didn't. I also didn't say anything about your quirk" I informed him.
"Why? I thought you would like to give them a better chance"
"It would be unfair to you. Besides you don't know my quirk"
"I can see your quirk," he said unimpressed, almost disappointed that I would say something like that.
"HEY, THERE LEGS!" I heard a loud female voice say from behind me. I turned around and saw a pink-haired girl with goggles running up toward Iida that was close behind us.
"Uh hello?" Iida responded confused.
"You're Tenya Iida right," she asked enthusiastically.
"That's correct"
"Oh great. I'm up against you this first round! Oh man, look at those legs! What I could do for those! Your legs are almost like my babies!" she kept going on and on and Iida was starting to become a bit flustered.
"We should get going. They're going to start the recreational games. I rather spend this time preparing for the tournament," I told the guys.
"Agreed," Shinso said.
"I'll be taking my leave I will rather be alone at the moment," Todoroki said and he began to exit, leaving me and Shinso behind. We didn't say anything and I figured he was most likely upset that he may be facing Deku in the second round. Deku made him use his fireside. Something he promised himself he wouldn't do.
"Hey if you want you can sit with me and my class to watch the festival. Since most of the class will be participating I'm sure they'll be plenty of seats open" I offered Shinso as we walked through the hall. Shinso and I were on our way to the resting areas for those in the tournament when my feathers ruffled signaling someone coming toward me.
"Hey wait up L/N!" I heard a familiar voice yell out.
I turned around and saw the guy who had crashed into me. 'Oh it's this guy, what was his name again?'
"Hello" I simply replied.
"I saw you with your classmate and wanted to invite you guys to sit with my class for a better view of the tournament. I also wanted to say congratulations on being the only 2 students from the general studies to make it this far. It's really amazing!" he said. I looked up at Shinso for a moment and saw him scowling.
'Oh no he probably doesn't like the fact that he was pointed out to be in the general studies'
"No thank you I rather be with my class," I told him. The only response Shinso gave was a "tch"
"What are you talking about?" Shinso asked. His scowl focused more on his eyes.
"Well you know you guys are the only two who aren't in the hero course" the other guy responded. Shinso looked down at me almost directing his anger toward me.
"Like I said we'll be sitting with my class," I told him more firmly.
"O-oh uh ok. I just wanted to see if maybe we could get to know each other a bit more" he sounded disappointed. My feathers ruffled up again letting me know more people are coming. I looked up to check who was coming and it was Kirishima and Bakugou walking my way.
"Hey L/N you ok? These guys bothering yah?" Kirishima asked looking at Shinso and the other guy.
"I'm ok Kirishima. Just telling him I rather sit with my class than with him" I explained to him my voice clearly softer when I spoke to him. Tetsutetsu seemed to notice this. He started glaring at the redhead. Bakugou noticed this and his scowl was directed toward the 1-B student.
"Oh, I see! Well, I'll see you later L/N. Also, get ready Tetsutetsu. I won't be going easy on you during our fight" Kirishima said while holding out his fist.
'Ah, so that's his name. Maybe I'll remember it this time'
"I won't be holding back either. I have to show L/N just how great I can be!" Tetsutetsu said while activating his quirk and bringing his two fists together.
"HUHHHH!? Why the hell do you care what Icy bitch thinks?" Bakugou said. I didn't even flinch at what he said. In the small amount of time, I knew him I had gotten used to his personality.
Tetsutetsu flinched at his words "Hey man you shouldn't be calling her that!" he tried defending me.
"Don't bother trying to make him stop. He's been like that since day 1. You get used to it after a while" I said trying to avoid a conflict between everyone.
"Since day 1? You're telling me you hang out with these bastards?!" Tetsutetsu yelled out.
"Well of course I do. We eat lunch together from time to time. I've even trained with Kirishima too. He asked me to help him train by dropping him from a pretty up high. He also helped me with my endurance" I told him.
"Yeah! Having her carry me around while she's flying was really neat!" Kirishima said. Tetsutetsu's face turned angry and he became red.
"JUST YOU WAIT L/N! I'LL SHOW YOU HOW MUCH BETTER I AM THAN THIS CLASS 1-A ASSHOLES YOU HANG OUT WITH" he yelled out suddenly. Then he turned around and left. Everyone was left in a bit of a shocking state but was snapped out of it by Shinso.
"You should probably eat before the tournament. You don't want to pass out," said Shinso.
"No, I ate plenty during the lunch hour," I replied.
~Time Skip~
It was just a few minutes before Midoriya and Shinso were going to fight I was with Shinso at the opening.
"You know I'm rooting for you. But still, I can't and won't choose a side when it comes to this battle. Midoriya is my classmate after all, and he's my friend just like you" I told Shinso.
"I understand. However, I won't be going easy on him just because you and he have shown me kindness. I have to get into the hero course" He replied with determination.
"I don't expect you to. Regardless of the outcome, I'll see you later where class 1-A is sitting at my fight isn't until later so I'll be there for the time being," I told him as I left. I made it to my class section just 2 minutes before the battle. Right across the stairs entryway, I could see that class 1-B was there. Funny enough I made eye contact with Tetsutetsu who had a shocked expression on his face.
"Hey L/N over here!" I heard a bubbly voice call out. I looked over and saw Uraraka waving at me showing me an empty seat next to her.
"Hey, Uraraka. I'm coming" I tell her.
"I told you Call me Ochaco" she reminds me. Before I could respond I heard a voice yell out for me.
"L/N I thought you said you were going to sit with your class?!" Tetsutetsu yelled toward our section. He looked genuinely hurt that I was with Class 1-A. I was beginning to get really annoyed with him trying to get my attention constantly. It took me a while to try and answer since I was trying really hard to not seem annoyed at him.
"She is sitting with her class. She's part of class 1-A" Iida spoke up for me.
"DON'T LIE TO ME! I already met your class! She wasn't there when we went to see you guys!" Tetsutetsu responded.
"That's because she was at the hospital after the villain attack!" Kirishima yelled back at Tetsutetsu.
"THE ONLY ONE THAT WAS HOSPITALIZED WAS YOur class d-deputy" Tetsutetsu started yelling then seem to trail off then turned to face me.
I raised my right hand and waved it slightly to the right "Hello I'm Y/N L/N, deputy of class 1-A. You should know this since it shows on the scoreboard what class I'm in."
Testsutetsu looked at the scoreboard and his eyes narrowed. He looked back at me with a frown but didn't say anything.
"Just like that… the crush you had on me is gone isn't it?" I asked him. He only clenched his fists. "You said that we're a bunch of assholes and we think we're better than everyone. But that couldn't be further from the truth. Bakugou over there yeah maybe he is like that. Yet you immediately changed your mind about me the moment you knew what class I was in" I kept eye contact with him and his eyes softened a bit at my words.
"You would barely talk to me anyways it only proves you think you're better than me!" He yelled back.
"I barely spoke to you because I barely know you! We met today when you crashed into me. Besides if that were true that I believe I'm better than every other class here I wouldn't be friends with Shinso from general studies!" I yelled back my frustration peaking. Tetsutetsu seemed to suddenly remember my purple-haired friend and said nothing. Kendo their class representative put her hand on his shoulder while whispering something.
"I apologize if he caused any trouble," she said gently.
"It's no trouble. I just don't want him believing things that aren't true" I said and then took my seat next to Ochaco. I looked around for Todoroki but his match was the second one so he was probably getting ready. Iida sat next to me while we waited for the match to start. I could feel a pair of eyes boring holes into the back of my skull. My feathers ruffled up a bit so I turned around and saw Ojiro staring daggers at me. Something I haven't seen someone do since I entered UA. I was about to ask if maybe my wings were in the way but I heard Present Mic announce the battle. I turned around and watched intently what was happening.
"Who are you cheering for L/N?" Ochaco asked.
"Yes, I am also curious about who you'll be cheering on" added Iida.
"I'm not cheering for anyone this round. They're both my friends and besides whoever wins or loses I still want to spend time with them during the festival" I answered honestly.
"Well, I'm cheering for DEKU!" Ochaco said.
Both of my friends came onto the stage and it seemed like Shinso was talking to Deku. I couldn't hear or read his lips seeing that he was so far away. As present mic was saying something about putting your morals aside I could see Shinso say something to Deku. Then the fight started.
Deku started running towards Shinso yelling something out. Soon after Deku stopped running and was now standing still. That's what I saw Shinso had a smile and I knew that you had fallen for whatever Shinso said.
"AAAA I went through the trouble of warning him too!" Ojiro yelled behind me. Ochaco and Iida stood from their seats confused about what was going on. I stayed seated knowing exactly what had happened. I kept my face blank. I was conflicted about who I wanted to win, they were both my friends and I wanted both of them to be successful.
"THE MATCH JUST STARTED AND MIDORIYA IS COMPLETELY FROZEN!" I heard Present Mic commented on what was going on in the fight. I heard Ochako murmur about her worries and I let out a breath.
"It's over now, Shinso has won at this point," I said out loud.
"Huh, what do you mean?!" Ochaco asked. She was clearly worried about Deku.
"Just keep watching, you'll understand," I said. My voice was normal but the entire stadium was completely in shock making everyone quiet and making my speaking sound as if I was yelling. The entire stadium heard Shinso tell Deku to walk out of bounds and of course, he easily complied.
"What is he doing? If he walks out of bounds he'll lose the match!" Iida yelled doing his signature hand motions. I kept the focus on Deku and he was just one step from losing when a sudden rush of air suddenly appeared out of nowhere. I brought my arms up to shield myself from the sudden dust when I heard Present Mic.
"MIDORIYA STOPPED!"
'What?!' I sprang up to look at the stage leaning on the railing like everyone else and sure enough, Deku had stopped and had his hands on his knees panting. A big smile appeared on my face.
"He snapped out of it! That's so cool he snapped out of it!" I yelled out. Everyone was cheering. I looked over at Shinso who was shocked and I could tell he was angry.
'He must be so frustrated about the situation. Nothing ever seems to go his way' I thought to myself putting my emotionless face again or at least trying I was now nervous and excited. Shinso kept yelling and Deku covered his mouth as if he almost spoke. Then he started moving towards Shinso while holding his left hand, he had 2 broken fingers.
Shinso was desperately trying to make Deku talk again. It looked like Deku learned his lesson and kept quiet now. He wasn't slowing down, he grabbed onto Shinso and started pushing him back. Shinso kept trying to make him talk; he was stuck on one technique the entire time.
'No Shinso! Hand-to-hand combat! That's your only choice don't you see that! You trained for this! Hell, I even helped you train for this exact scenario. Stop trying to make him talk!' I thought frustrated at him. I opened my mouth to yell out to him but quickly closed it. 'I can't help him. I didn't help Deku. I need to keep this fair'
Soon enough they started exchanging blows. Shinso was still confused about what happened so his reaction time was too slow. In that small exchange of blows, Deku managed to flip Shinso on his back making his legs out of bounds.
"THE WINNER IS IZUKU MIDORIYA" Present Mic announced. I was amazed at what I had witnessed. I knew Shinso was going to be angry about the loss but he still made an impression showing what his quirk was, not just that, he was a general course study student so he would get attention about almost defeating a class 1-A student. I was about to yell words of encouragement as Shinso was walking back towards the hallway when I heard his classmates start to yell at him. I smiled knowing he wouldn't need my words of encouragement. I knew he would be ok.
I left my class and went to look for Todoroki to wish him luck on his fight with Sero.
