The fight was incredible, but overall it made Izuku look bad because he was essentially just provoking him for most of the match. I got up to stretch my legs; after that fight, my muscles were tense. I looked up and saw Ida and Ochako heading out. Ochako saw me and waved me over.
"We're heading to check up on Deku do you want to come with us?" she said.
"Of course!" I told her I looked over at Shinso. "You want to come with me?"
With a big sigh, he got up and started to follow us. I know he wasn't exactly friends with anyone besides me, so I was surprised to see that he got up to even check on him. As we walked, we noticed up ahead that Tsu and Mineta were walking over too.
"Deku!" "Midoriya" we all yelled once we entered the room. We noticed a blond man who was very skinny and almost skeleton-looking. After greeting him, Recovery Girl scolded us about being too loud.
"Everyone…. What about the next match?" Deku asked.
"Since there was a lot of damage to the stage, they're taking a break to repair it," Iida explained.
"That was one scary match, No pro is going to want that," Mineta said, which earned him a punch from me in the head.
That's when Recovery girl ended up kicking us out. "Everyone get out. I have to do surgery now."
"SURGERY?!" we all yelled in unison. We kept asking questions, but she ultimately slammed the door in our faces.
Afterward, we decided to head back and check in on Deku later in the tournament.
Once we got back to our seats, Iida was back on the stage, ready for his battle. However, there wasn't much of a match.
All Iida had to do was get behind Shiozaki who had an incredible plant-based quirk and essentially he just pushed her/ guided her out of bounds.
Then it was my turn. I was fighting against Tokoyami.
I quickly make my way to get to the stage. I noticed Tokoyami was already gone.
Once on stage Present Mic did his usual dramatic introductions.
"On one side we have our Prince of Darkness Tokoyami Fumikage and on the other side we have UA's Angel L/N Y/N!" He boomed through the system.
"Ready? START!" Midknight announced. Just like I had thought, he sent out dark shadow right from the start. I wanted to see how long his shadow could get, so I took off to the sky until his shadow was completely stretched. It must have been almost 15 feet up in the air, but his shadow was still zig zagged slightly, which made me suspicious.
"L/N you are not allowed to fly higher than the height of the stadium, this will be your only warning!" Midknight announced. I took a better look at my surroundings and sure enough, I was slowly floating away out of the stadium. I gave her a thumbs up letting her know I understood.
I wanted to try and see if maybe I could capture dark shadows with my ice. But when I tried, he could make himself smaller and escape the restraints. I have to either push him off the stadium or immobilize them both. Immobilizing seems to be out of the question so I have to figure out how to get him out.
'I guess I have to go Todoroki on him'
With that thought, I spun and sent ice spikes flying to distract him. Once I was able to land I sent a wave of ice in his direction. There wasn't much dark shadow could do about it and he was able to hold on to the ice so I quickly melted just that portion he kept trying to hold on to.
Finally, he fell out of bounds.
"Tokoyami is out of bounds! L/N proceeds to the next round!"
Cheers exploded, and I was so excited I jumped up and down with my hands over my head. I walked over to see that Tokoyami was just fine and dusting his clothes. I started to walk off stage when I heard "L/N. The stadium" I flinched at Aizawa sensei's voice booming suddenly.
I flicked my wings and melted the ice away and headed over to the locker rooms. When I walked in, I saw Iida on the phone and decided to walk a little more quietly not to disturb him.
He saw me and quickly hung up.
"Who was that, if you don't mind me asking?"
"I was calling my brother Tensei to see if he was able to watch any of the matches, but he is on a mission right now" he responded.
"Oh, it's too bad he can't see how well you're doing," I said trying to offer some comfort. I know he admires his brother and would like to hear any feedback he may have.
"Thanks, L/N. We should go see the next match."
"Oh shoot, you're right! Whoever wins the next round will be my opponent," I said as I quickly jumped up and started walking out with Iida following me.
"Hey, Iida, if you don't mind me asking… did counselor Cece ever contact your brother." I carefully asked.
"She unfortunately did….. They're dating now."
"Wow, that was surprisingly fast," I add.
"I know. Perhaps meeting with her now will not be ethical since she is dating my brother," Iida added.
"Oh, you're meeting up with her too?" I asked.
"I believe most of the class is since the attack at USJ."
'That does make sense it was traumatic for many of us. I can only imagine the hopelessness they felt when they saw Aizawa fighting on his own or when I was in pain with my wings'
"Midoriya," Iida's shout to Deku snapped me from my thoughts. "I see your surgery went well. I'm glad."
"Yeah, thanks. And congrats Iida" Deku said.
"Thank you, Midoriya. Both L/N and I seemed to have made it to the semifinals."
A surge of pride rippled through me as I held my wings a little higher. "It's all the training we did together."
"As true as it may be, I will be using Midoriya's fight with Todoroki to learn more," Iida proclaimed.
Deku just nodded, acknowledging it. "Is your brother watching your progress?" he asked.
"I called him earlier, but he was working."
"Oh, so you called him?"
"Yes, but I think it was for the best. Now that I've made it this far, I need to be able to tell him I'm number one."
'Iida truly is admirable. He looks up to his brother to follow in his footsteps
A blast interrupts my thoughts. I look down, and sure enough, Bakugou is giving Kirishima hell. Blasting him over and over. 'Kirishima isn't going to last much longer if this keeps up' and with a final "DIE" from Bakugou, Kirishima has blasted away and is immobile.
"Looks like my opponent is going to be Bakugo. Oh man, I can't wait to give him hell," I smirk.
I looked up at the chart and saw the table for the next rounds.
"Well, I'm off. My fight is next," Iida announces.
"Do your best!" I yelled after him. I followed Deku over the back to our class. I tried to get him to rest, but he insisted on watching the fight.
"THE FIRST MATCH OF THE SEMI-FINALS! BOTH COME FROM HERO FAMILIES. IT'S A BATTLE OF THE ELITES," Present Mic's voice boomed over the arena. I could see both of my classmates getting ready to face off with each other.
"From the hero course Tenya Iida, versus, also from the hero course Shoto Todoroki!"
My heart fluttered a bit as they mentioned his name. What is wrong with me? I can't be thinking about these things while I'm about to start fighting myself soon. Both of them stare at each other with so much dedication to winning.
"BATTLE START"
There they go. Todoroki wastes no time and sends off his ice toward Iida. Of course, Iida easily dodges it with his incredible speed. He runs to the sides, but Todoroki keeps a close eye on him and creates another wave of ice toward him. Iida could dodge it by jumping back but ended up trapped between two ice walls. With another ice wave coming his way, it was all over for him, and it looked like it would be another win for Todoroki.
Iida, the all-or-nothing guy, jumped straight up and avoided the wave of ice, heading straight towards Todoroki using his leg engines to give him a boost and possibly get a K.O. But it wasn't enough to get Todoroki off guard. He dodged it easily, but Iida, with no hesitation, roundhouse kicked the fuck out of Todoroki, slamming him into the ground. I gasped audibly.
"He got a pretty heavy hit in," I hear Sero say behind me.
"That kick was way too fast!" Kaminari adds.
I watch in stunned silence. We see Iida pick up Todoroki as he's trying to get up and start booking it towards the edge of the arena to toss him off, but he suddenly stops. Todoroki freezes Iida in place.
"Iida is immobilized! Todoroki Wins," Midnight announces.
'Iida… I'm sure he's going to end up being hard on himself because he might feel like he left his brother down.'
Without a moment to lose, I started heading toward the arena. My match against Bakugou was about to begin.
The clean-up happened quickly, and I waited for the green light to start walking into the arena. I was ready to beat up Bakugou but wasn't stupid enough to believe it would be easy.
Present Mic had already presented us to the crowd, but I was so nervous I didn't pay attention. My only attention was on what was right in front of me. 'Deep breath in… and out'
Counselor Cece helped me regain some confidence after the attack on USJ. These battles weren't triggering since they were classmates that I didn't perceive as threats. They were my classmates who helped each other improve. This one, however, wanted to punch everyone to the ground because he wanted to come out on top. How much more cliche can someone be?
"Ready?" I heard Midnight call out. Both Bakugou and I nodded. "Begin!" she swung her whip down, signaling us to start.
Nothing happened. We both eyed each other daring the other one to move first.
"FINE, SINCE YOU WON'T MOVE. I WILL," Bakugou yelled from across the arena. I knew my face not giving emotion would trigger him. I would hope his frustration would make him lose a bit of his planning. But from what I saw today. That doesn't happen.
He blasted himself towards me, and I knew he expected me to fly, so I iced the ground and slid under him. I did this while trying to encase him with an ice ball that I could throw off the arena. Of course, he broke out instantly.
"NICE TRY, ICY BITCH"
He blasted away the ice I made towards me as some projectiles. I only moved them to the side and made Ice spikes to force him out of bounds, but he kept blasting them away. We were at a standstill.
"COME ON! WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING?!" Bakugou started yelling at me.
'What the hell is he on about?'
He started running towards me. I threw an ice wave at him to slow him down, but it never did much since he just blasted them away. 'Damn his stupid quirk,' I iced the floor, and he quickly adjusted to just sliding on the ice while blasting away to give him a boost. 'Dammit, that was stupid for me to do that'
I took to the air and did what I did the same as I did for Yaoyorozu. Of course, it didn't work and he kept getting riled up. Even from the air, I could hear him growling. The longer we fought the more frustrated he seemed. The heat from his blasts wouldn't exactly hurt me since my fire quirk made my skin more resistant to the heat. Yet the blast wave is the most dangerous part of it.
Before I knew it he was blasting himself in the air to reach me. ' for fuck sake, not even the sky is safe from this menace' My breathing was becoming heavier. I knew I was getting tired.
I created an ice barrier to slow him down. Really I was trying to buy myself time since I've been flying so much that I knew I was burning calories like crazy at the moment. If this kept up I wouldnt last much longer.
I swooped above him and made an ice bat. Just like I thought he would he blasted right through it and when he did I smashed the bat right on his back as hard as I could. I used the force and started letting myself fall to see if I can make him crash onto the ground.
I managed to stop myself before I hit the ground with him. He wasn't moving. The silence was so loud. Everyone was waiting to see what would happen.
Midnight raised her whip "Baku-"
She was unable to finish Bakugou blasted himself into a standing upright position.
"Like hell I'm losing like that" Bakugou said more to himself than anyone else.
Once again he was flying through the air 'FUCK'
He was faster this time. He started blasting me relentlessly and just like I assumed the heat didn't bother me.
"WHY AREN'T YOU USING YOUR FIRE ON ME?!" Bakugou started screaming.
"You can't be serious!?"
"I SAW YOU PRACTICING IT! WHY ARE YOU HOLDING BACK?!"
OH HELL NAH BITCH
I encased him in ice faster than I thought possible. "I CAN'T CONTROL MY FIRE BLOND BRAIN" I punched him square in the jaw. 'Fuck that hurts'
"I won't put anyone in danger!" my hand was throbbing with pain from punching him but I didn't have time to dwell on it. He blasted out of the ice and blasted straight for me.
'Fuck it's now or never' I thought to myself. I had practiced doing the whip as I did during the USJ attack but it was so difficult to control. Ice isn't meant for these kinds of movements. I extended my dominant hand behind me and started to create the whip one chain at a time, but I was too slow. Bakugou reached me before I could finish it. He blasted me 3 times and I lost all sense of direction or sense of where I was in the air.
"STOP HOLDING BACK ICY BITCH" I heard Bakugou scream from behind me just before he blasted me on my back… right in between my wings.
It burns. My back is burning. I can't explain the feeling even if I tried. 'I'm passing out. This is different, I can see something. It looks so blurry, why do I feel so panicked?'
My heart felt like it was pounding harder in my chest but not faster. Breathing feels like I'm drowning. 'I can breathe I know I can but why can't I stop myself from panicking? What's happening?' at this point, I'm falling to the ground. I'm aware of what's happening but my body won't move. The world is getting blurry. Then I hit the ground.
