Ch 3 Path to Power part 2
Summoner Home. Upon entering the house he noticed that the summoner was not around. He announces his presence and continues to walk down the hall.
"It's quiet, too quiet." He thought to himself. Vergil turned into an open room and found a horrifying scene. There was a person crucified upside down and cut open. The person's intestines were hanging out with blood everywhere. Vergil cautiously enters the room and examines the scene.
"The body was none other than the summoner, but what exactly happened here?" Vergil wondered. The next moment a priest walks into the room.
"The devil finally shows up."
"And you are?"
"I am Father Freed. This is both a greeting and farewell to you, filthy devil." Said with a sadistic smile.
"Why did you kill this person?"
"Oh him? We warned him about having interactions with you devils but he chose to ignore our warning. So we are here to dispose of him."
"And you call us monsters? You're no different from us demons at this point."
"Wow, Hahahaha, even a devil is lecturing me. Can you believe this? Oh well it doesn't matter, cause you will be dead here soon anyways." Pulls out a gun and fires without warning.
"!"
*Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!*
Vergil reacts by shifting his body to the left, then to the right, ducks under and shifts back to the left again.
"Oh ho, you got some pretty nice reflexes for a devil filth."
"Such a distasteful weapon of choice." The next moment he felt a sharp pain on his side and dropped to one knee. Vergil checks and sees that he has been grazed. He may be a half devil, but even holy bullets are slightly effective, even against him. Vergil then remembers Rias telling him about the exorcist and their abilities. Father Freed moves closer to Vergil.
"Hmm. That took longer to take effect on you than I thought. Usually the effects are instant…" The next moment Vergil activated his boosted gear and did a reverse roundhouse then a regular roundhouse kick (Rising Sun) launching Freed into the air sending him spinning backwards into the wall.
"You hit me. This fucking devil hit me. Now you're seriously dead!" A furious Freed barked and pulled out his light swords, charging at Vergil.
Freed thrust his sword towards Vergil. Vergil ducks and blocks the attack. Then he punches Freed in the gut and shoulder bashes him into the wall.
"Get outta my sight!"
Freed staggering to get back up and even more furious.
"Ahhhhhh! This filthy devil! I will kill you slowly!" Continues to bark and charges toward Vergil again. This time a young nun got between the two of them, extending her out to protect Vergil.
"Father, please stop this!" Asia pleads.
The next moment Vergil's head began to hurt and fell to one knee. He began to have flashbacks of his mother doing the exact same thing before she was killed. Vergil forced himself to snap out of it and regained his focus.
"Asia-chan, that is quite dangerous, you shouldn't do such a thing like that."
"The Lost Nun girl, what is she doing here?" Vergil thought to himself.
"Father please stop this, there is no need to kill him." Asia pleaded.
"Asia-chan, that guy is a devil and the devils are the enemy. Get away from him before he stabs you in the back." Asia turned and looked at Vergil with a confused look. Vergil was prepared for a 2 on 1 until Asia did something he wasn't expecting, she continued to stand her ground and protect him. She had a determined look on her face.
"I used to think all devils were bad but then I realized that there are some good devils out there."
"Well, that was unexpected." Vergil had a small confused look on his face.
"Haa? Not all devils are bad you say? What the hell is wrong with you? Asia-chan move outta the way!"
"No!"
"*Sign* This is why I work solo. People are always getting in the way of my work." Freed cuts open Asia's shirt, punches her in the gut before throwing her to the ground. Asia tried to catch her breath.
"Oneesan said I can't kill you, but that doesn't mean I can't have some fun with you. Eheheh. *licks lips*"
"How repulsive." Vergil was disgusted with the way Freed behaved.
A magic circle appeared next to Vergil. It was the Greymory Crest. Akeno, Yuto and Koneko appear out of the circle.
"Raiden-kun, we are here to help." Akeno informed Vergil.
"More devils for me to kill. Oh man, they just keep on coming, don't they? God will surely be done tonight." Freed struggled to stand up, now filled with excitement. Akeno sees that he didn't hesitate to attack his own allies.
"He even attacks his own allies? How distasteful." Akeno had a serious look on her face.
"Even more devils are lecturing me on how I do things Hahaha. Doesn't matter cause you all will be dead soon." Freed slightly recovered, charged in, but Yuuto intercepted him.
"Oh ho, this devil's got some sword skills. Play with me."
"Such a vulgar exorcist." The two clash swords back and forth. Clash* Bang* Clash*
Akeno moves in to check on Vergil who is back on his feet, however he is still holding his side.
"Let me see your wound."She narrowed her eyes as she analyzed the wound and gave her report.
"The wound isn't serious but it needs to be treated immediately."
" Oh he is a tough one I'll give him that. Hehe."
"So you're the one who was taking care of my servant." Rias walks into the room.
"Man, I'm quite popular tonight. Yeah that was me. I took good care of your servant. Hahaha…" The next moment Rias shot a massive destructive blast past Freed. Freed was in shock as he looked at the aftermath of the blast.
"President, enemy reinforcements!Alarge group heading this way!"
"Akeno, prepare the transportation at once!"
'Understood!"
"Oh no you don't. You're not getting away. The fun is just getting started." As he charges in. Freed makes it past Yuuto. Koneko throws two couches at him. He slices one in half.
"Where are you looking?"
"Huh? What the..?" Freed looks down and sees Vergil. Freed tries to attack, but Vergil sweeps him off his feet, then kicks him in the gut sending flying back into a wall and lands on the ground.
"President, transport is ready."
"Everyone, Retreat to the circle at once!"
"Damnit, they are escaping." Freed struggling to get up. Vergil made it to the circle holding his side. He looks back and sees Asia smiling at Vergil, while leaning against a wall sitting down still holding her gut. Vergil began to have flashbacks and his head hurt a bit. Coming back to his senses, the transportation began, Asia was still smiling like she knew she would see Vergil again. The next moment they were gone.
Occult Club
Vergil standing in shower pondering over what's just happened recently.
"Got to the summoner's house with no one around, ran into a mortal enemy, a nun that believes not all devils are evil and a vulgar exorcist that seriously needs to be put down. That's quite a night I'd say." Vergil thought to himself.
The next moment he felt something soft on his side.
"Hmm? Oh, Club President? Why are you in the shower?" Vergil is not sure what's going on.
"Giving you first aid with my power. It's much quicker when our skin comes in contact. There, that should patch things up a bit. Try not to move it around too much."
"Understood." Vergil finishes up in the shower and gets dressed. Most dressed now, Rias came in with some questions about what happened.
"By the way, what's the story with you and that nun girl?" Rias asked with her arms crossed under her chest.
"Hmm? The lost nun girl? I just so happened to be passing by and killed some demons that were attacking her. She was lost, so I escorted her to the nearest church and parted ways. A strange coincidence running into her again."
"WHAT? You rescued an enemy and took her back home?" Backing him against a wall. Vergil is not bothered by it.
"In the eyes of the demons, she is no different than another person they prey upon. Besides, I was not aware that she was our enemy at the time."
"Then how do you explain bumping into her last night?" Closing off his escape.
"That was unexpected."
"Raiden, you must break off whatever relation you have with her, she is an adversary." Placing her hands on the side of his face, expressing concern.
"I'm well aware of that. There must be more to her than we may know." Vergil points out.
"What do you mean?"
"While battling the vulgar priest, she stood between myself and him. Pleading with the priest that not all devils are evil. Shortly after he attacked her for her beliefs."
"Why would she do that, to protect her mortal enemy?" Rias steps pondering Asia actions.
"Perhaps due to me saving her from the demons and then finding out I'm a devil." Vergil explained.
"Do you think she fell in love with you or something?" Rias asked while smirking at Vergil
"President, surely you jest?" Vergil had a stern expression on his face.
"Ahem. Sorry, I got sidetracked there. There must be more to her than we currently know."
"She is the least of my worries, I would be more concerned about that priest who attacked her."
"Is that so? We will continue to discuss this later. It's time to start the day." They parted ways and started the school day.
Downtown from school
After school, Vergil had some spare time before he had to be back at the occult. He stopped by a Japanese restaurant he enjoys eating at from time to time. While waiting on his food he spotted Asia outside the window. Vergil, not wanting to get involved with her, grabbed another menu and pretended to not notice her. Asia walks off outside the window's view. Vergil checks to see if it is clear and drops the menu.
"I've finally caught up to you Raiden-san. Hehe" Asia smiled at Vergil, as she stood in front of her.
"The Lost Nun girl. Tsk, well you found me. What business do you have with me?" Looking away and out the window.
"My name is Asia, please try to remember it." Looking at Vergil with a pouting face.
"Yes, yes. By the way, this is a restaurant where people eat. So, sit down and don't draw attention to yourself."
"Ah yes, excuse me." She looks at the menu and places an order.
The waiter comes back with their food and they begin to eat. Vergil knew that Asia is not a threat to him which is why he allowed her to stay. They finish their meal and leave the restaurant soon after were passing through a park, while Asia for some reason was still walking next to Vergil.
"So what business do you have with me?"
"I have not properly thanked you for saving me."
"You can thank me by staying out of trouble and moving on with your life." He turned around and walked away. As he walked he still felt a small sharp pain from his battle last night.
"I can help you with that." She points at a bench. Vergil, a little curious, sat on the bench.
"No funny business, understand."
"No worries. Left up your arm please." Asia closed her eyes and placed her hands above the injured area. A green light appeared and began to heal Vergil injury. Vergil was no longer in pain.
"Impressive. Is the power of your Sacred gear?"
"Yes, it has the power to heal injuries."
"A power like that would be useful in the church."
Asia had a sad expression on her face and began to have teary eyes.
"My apologies, I said something unpleasant."
"No, no, I get like this sometimes when I think back to how things were before all this."
"Before all this?"
Asia went on and told him about her. She told him about the time of her powers awakening at a young age and then being taken in by the church. While at the church many people would come see her, asking for her to heal them. Later on, they call her a saint for all her wonderful work for the people. Asia had a comfortable life while living at the church. One day a mortally wounded devil came by. Asia being the good nature person that she is healed the injured devil and he shortly after killed an exorcises pursuing him. After that incident, they banished and condemned her, saying that she was a demonic girl. Afterward she would be taken in by the Fallen Angels and was sent here.
"So it's in her nature to help friend and foe. In addition to being condemned for simply helping an enemy. The church people are something else. Now she is involved with the Fallen Angels. I don't have a good feeling about this." Vergil thought to himself.
"It wasn't a bad life, but I was lonely a lot of times at the Church. I just wanted to make friends, go shopping, talk with people and have a normal life." Asia started to cry a bit.
"If that is something you wish for, you won't find it with the Fallen Angels. You're better off cutting your ties with them."
"I wish it was that simple for me."
"Unfortunately, that is not possible." Raynaire looked down from a light pole.
Vergil recognized that voice, but he was not pleased to see THAT person. Raynaire lands a few meters in front of Vergil and Asia hides behind Vergil shaking in fear. Vergil looks at the shaking Asia and then looks at Raynaire and knows nothing good will come for Asia by remaining with the Fallen Angels, specifically Raynaire.
"My, my, Raiden-kun, you survived and now you were devil? A weak one too. It would have been much easier if you just let me kill you and end your suffering. How disgusting."Raynaire looked down on Vergil.
"I hoped to never see your face again after that night."
"But Raiden-kun, we had such a wonderful date that night. Hehehe" Raynaire had a twisted look.
"I think we have a substantial difference in opinions on that." Vergil looked at her with a disgusted expression.
"Anyway, Asia, I've come to pick you. Hurry it up and don't waste anymore of my time here."
"N- No, I don't want to go back and help you k-kill anymore people and me."
"!" Vergil turned his eyes to Asia and then back at Raynaire.
"Asia, you are important to us, you do understand right?" Raynaire moved forward a little bit.
"You won't take no for an answer?" Vergil stared down at her.
"She seems to be quite attached to you."
"So it appears that way."
"Oh Raiden-kun, how could you forget me after such a wonderful night? Shall we revisit that moment? Hehe" smirking with a menacing look and drawing out a yellow spear.
"I can't say that it was a wonderful night, however I do need to settle the score with you. Get back Lost Nun." Activated sacred gear and took a basic fighting stance.
"Ummm, My name is Asia, please try to remember my name at least."
"So that is your sacred gear. The higher ups were quite concerned because there was no information about it. Looking at it now, there is nothing special about it. They were worried for nothing." Raynaire examined it from a distance.
"Anyway, I'm in a hurry here." Throws the spear at Vergil.
Vergil does a cartwheel with no hands (Flint Wheel) and reflects the spear back at her, grazing her face.
"Tsk. Devil scum!"Raynaire throws a few more and again Vergil deflects them back at her.
Raynaire gets impatient and takes to the air, she is getting serious now.
"Asia, return to me now or I will kill this devil in front of you." Looking menacing at her.
"You sure say some funny things." Vergil had a small grin on his face. Asia walked past him.
"Good girl."
"I'm sorry Raiden-san for causing trouble. I was hoping we could at least be friends." Asia looking back at Vergil. Vergil, slightly puzzled by her words, just gave a small chuckle.
"Unfortunately, we are on opposite sides. I am not really sure how well that would turn out. But.." Vergil was interrupted.
"I hate to break up your love talk, but that is unlikely. "Raynaire interrupted and Asia wanted to hear the rest of it.
"Raynaire-sama?"
"Don't worry after the ceremony tonight all your pain and suffering will be over."
"Ceremony?"
"Be grateful I'm letting you off with your life intact this time. If we meet again, you will not be so fortunate. Farewell."
"Goodbye Raiden-san and thank you." Tears coming from her eyes
Raynaire floats up in the air with Asia, activates a magic circle and disappears. Vergil standing there looking up. The next moment images of his dying mother flashed in his head. Vergil, a bit irritated, heads back to the occult club. Vergil saved Asia from trouble before and now she is being taken towards certain death.
"Seriously, what a foolish girl."
The Occult Club
Vergil returns back to the occult club and informs the president of the action he was about to take on the Fallen Angels while Rias is getting dressed.
"President, I have some unfinished business with the Fallen Angels that needs to be settled."
"I can't allow you to go. Your actions will greatly have an affect on the relations between the Devils and Fallen Angels. It could even start another war."
"I doubt they could take on another war, given how the last one ended."
"Raiden, please don't make me repeat myself! Don't you understand? If I let you go into their territory you will most certainly be killed. I can't put my precious servant in that kind danger. I would be very saddened if I lost you." Pinning Vergil against the wall while partly dressed expressing her concern. Vergil still maintained his composure.
"The Fallen Angel Raynaire mentioned something about a ceremony taking place tonight?"
"A ceremony tonight? Raynaire the Fallen Angel?" Akeno comes over and whispers something to Rias.
"You are certain of this?" Rias asked and Akeno gave her a head nod.
"A important matter has come up that requires Akeno and myself. One more thing." Rias explained the mechanics of the pawn and the promotion to Vergil.
"Another thing, I noticed that your gear responds to your desire or will. The stronger that is, the more power it gives you. On the downside it will take up some stamina, so use it wisely."
"My desire? What I desire is… power. I need more power." Clenching his fist. Rias makes her way out the room.
"Yuuto, I leave the rest to you."
"Understood." Yuuto gave a small nod.
Yuuto turned to Vergil and began to discuss how they would approach the church. Vergil pointed out that they have the element of surprise and they should make good use of it for as far as they can go. Yuuto agrees that is their one advantage and once that is gone things will be difficult from that point on.
"That is why if we can make it deep in their territory I can use the promotion to increase their odds of surviving."
"Are you sure you want to do this? There is no going back once we get there."
"Yes."
"Wow, no hesitation at all. I got to admire that fearlessness of yours. Though personally I'm not a fan of the Fallen Angels and priests."
"We should head out soon."
"I will also go with you two. I'll be worried if it's just the two of you." Koneko walked towards them.
"Hoo?" Vergil was surprised that Koneko would join them.
"Oh, that very reassuring Koneko chan." Yuuto smiling at Koneko.
"Looks like we are ready to go." Vergil looked at both Yuuto and Koneko. The three head out to the Fallen Angel territory. Meanwhile at the church, the ceremony had already begun.
Fallen Angel Hideout-Night time
The three make it to the outside of the church. After looking at the building closely they knew they were in the right place. The building had some of the holy relics and statues destroyed, something only Fallen angels would do. They went over the plan one last time before entering. The plan was to rescue Asia and get out quickly. Everyone checked to make sure they had everything they needed before going in. They made their way to the gate that had a chain and lock on it. Koneko breaks them like twigs and they progress forward up some stairs and make it to the entrance to the building itself. They opened the double doors and went inside the building. When they got inside they were in a large room where church service would be held however no one was inside. They walk down the center idle until they are greeted by a familiar person.
"Greetings lowly-devils, thank you for saving me the trouble of looking for you. I will make sure your death is a slow and painful one." Father Freed announced his presence.
"Let's just cut to the chase shall we. Where is she?" Vergil calmly asked.
"Oh that shitty demon loving nun? She is downstairs under this altar." Freed answered. The three were surprised he answered.
"I was not expecting him to tell us so easily. He must seriously be looking down on us." Yuuto commented.
"Oh no it's not that at all. You all will be dead soon, so it really doesn't matter." Freed pulls out his sword and pistol and a fight breaks out. Koneko throws a few chairs. Freed slices up the chairs.
"This same trick ?"
"Don't forget about me."
Yuuto and Freed continue to clash swords.*Clash* Clang**Clang* Bang* Bang*. Freed puts some distance between him and Yuuto and fires off some bullets. Yuuto was able to dodge and block most of them. Freed continues to fire off his bullets, Koneko jumps in front of Yuuto covering him. The bullets just bounced off her. The bullets just felt like a little sting to her.
"You're pretty tough for a little kid."
"Little?" Koneko began to throw lots of chairs at Freed.
One of the chairs knocks over the altar revealing the hiding stairway. Freed points his gun at Koneko and attempts to fire, however he is out of bullets. Koneko Yuuto and Vergil surround him. Freed drops a smoke bomb and escapes. They checked the area one last time before heading down just to make sure it was clear. They head downstairs and it leads them to a double set of doors. Vergil and Yuuto line up against the door. They both nod their head, open the door and move in. They entered another large room where the ceremony was being held. Inside the room was Raynaire, Douna Shiku, a masked man, Asia, and five minions. Freed also rejoined them. Raynaire was holding a green orb and Asia was breathing heavily.
"Raiden-san?"
"Welcome devils, you just missed a wonderful ceremony."Raynaire pushes the orb into her chest.
"Since you all came this way, we will entertain you a bit before we kill you." Douna grinning at the devils.
"I'll give you small fries a chance to leave, I have no business with you."
"Is this devil serious?"
"He doesn't realize the odds are in our favor. Hehe."
"Leave the blue haired devil for last." Raynaire commanded the minions.
"I have a score to settle with that one." Douna moving forward.
"Fine. This shall be your grave. Promotion Rook. '' Also activates his sacred gear (Boost x 4) , receives the strength and durability of a rook then assumes a fighting stance.
Two minions charged forward at Vergil. Yuuto and Koneko intercept them. Douna flies towards Vergil with a spear in his hand and begins his attack. Vergil dodge like a pro boxer and punches him in the gut knocking the wind out of him. Douna, getting irritated, looks at Vergil who had no expression on his face. Douna catches his breath again, and starts to attack. Vergil blocked and dodged the attacks as they came. He found an opening, and stepped in to punch Douna in the face with the back of his fist, causing him to drop his spear and then further shoulder bashes him, sending him flying into a wall. Douna struggles to get up to his feet. He just yells curses and insults at Vergil, but it doesn't phase him.
"Fucking little shit, now I'm pissed."
He charges towards him. He throws a series of kicks and punches. Vergil blocks them and then throws a hard roundhouse to his rib cracking it and a hook to gut then a series punches all over his upper body and one hard hook sending him to ground.
"Sweet dreams." Vergil's fists began to glow white and he punched Douna still on the ground.
"Go to hell!" A flash of white light emits.
Douna screams for a moment and then it was silent. When the light was gone there was only a crater and black feathers. The other minions were shaking after what they just saw. They regain their composure and charge at Vergil. Vergil's fist glows white and shoot the on coming minions and blows them away sending them flying back into the wall hard.
Vergil walks up to where Asia and Raynaire are. Raynaire gets in the way and blocks his path, but Vergil slapped her out the way and she hit the ground to the side. Vergil pulls Asia off the cross and places her on his shoulder and starts to head for the exits.
"Yuuto-san. Koneko-san. I have the package. Let's go."
"You hit my beautiful face, don't let him leave." All she sees is Freed fighting Yuuto and Koneko. One minion charges in on Vergil thinking he got him. Vergil notices another small fry coming at him. He turns around, kicks him in the knee and side kicks the minion sending him flying into the wall. Vergil walks up the stairs back to the first floor. He lays her down carefully on a chair and takes a knee. Asia is breathing heavily and grabs his arm.
"It may have been a short time, but I was happy to meet a kind devil like you."
"I'm not the kind person you think I am."
"Hehe. If I'm born again, would you be my friend Raiden-san?"
"Sure Asia." Vergil replied. Asia eyes widened and filled with tears.
"Thank you." As she closed her eyes and passed away.
Vergil clenched his fist and stood up looking down at Asia. She was a good girl who didn't deserve the unfortunate life that was handed to her. Yet she remained kind and cheerful to the end.
"This girl didn't deserve this kind of life. How can she still smile through all that?"
"She would not have had a happy life either way. People like her will never have that kind of life." Raynaire at the entrance of the stairs her wounds all healed up.
"What do you mean?"
"Those who possess strong powers or special talent are consequently persecuted. Trouble will follow them no matter where they go."
"That is just the cries of those without power."
"Yes and there are plenty of them out there. Do you think you can take them on?"
Vergil just gave a small grin.
"Enough of this. The time for talking is over. This time I will finish you off."
"For once we agree on something." Vergil re activates his gear. *Boost* x 6. Vergil took his fighting stance. There was a bar that appeared under the number.
A Beautiful Song-Nier Automata
"*Exhales* Power… I need more power."
A blue fiery aura surrounded Vergil andt he bar began to fill. Raynaire unleashes a massive amount of spears at Vergil. He dodges the incoming attacks and kicks up one of the chairs for some extra cover. It gets destroyed and Raynaire appears right as it's destroyed. She is holding two spears like daggers and begins to thrust at Vergil's head. Vergil blocks the incoming attack with ease. The two went back and forth with their attacks. Raynaire was putting up a better fight than Douna did. She goes for another thrust, but Vergil punches her in the wrist causing her to drop her first spear. She tries to go for a slash, but Vergil blocks it, punches her in the gut then shoulder tosses her to the ground hard enough to make a crater. Raynaire is spitting up blood.
Vergil boost count drops to five and his stamina starts to drop, after using the gear for a long time. He knows he will need to finish this fight soon. Raynaire goes for a kick, Vergil blocks it and returns with a roundhouse. Raynaire catches it and tosses Vergil. He regains his composure and kicks off the wall. The gear drops to three and his stamina drops again but the bar is completely full. Vergil gets irritated due to his stamina drop but keeps his composure. Raynaire smirks and charges in with a yellow dagger in her hand. Vergil holds his stance, Raynaire closed in, Vergil cocked his fist back and delivered a iron punch to her gut cracking her ribs *POW*. Raynaire goes flying back through a wall, her body twitched a bit from that last attack. *Boost Reset* Vergil drops to one knee, trying to catch his breath. He looked over to where Asia was and there was a masked man there for a second and then he disappeared the next moment.
"I really need to do something about that stamina issue with this gear." Vergil looking down at the gear.
"That was a really impressive victory. You took out two Fallen Angels and most of their minions." Yuuto commented.
"Have you finished downstairs?"
"Yes. President told me to let you handle the Fallen Angels since you had a history with them."
"Well, I'm not quite done with that one but she can't move for now."
"You still defeat her and the other one nonetheless. As expected of my adorable servant." Rias walking into the room.
"President?"
"Quite the battle you had here." Akeno making her way into the room.
"As long as we don't destroy it, we should be fine. In the meantime we should ask her what exactly have they been up to?"
"President, I have the person in question." Koneko drags Raynaire over, who is still knocked out.
"Thank you Koneko, Akeno."
"Understood." Akeno makes a large size of water and drops it on Raynaire and wakes her up.
"*Cough*Cough*"
"Greetings Fallen Angel."
"I haven't lost just yet, reinforcement will be here any minute and take care of you all." Raynaire struggles but manages to stand up.
"You just don't know when you're beaten." Vergil looks at her with a disappointed look and slowly stands up.
Rias shows Raynaire two black feathers from two of her other comrades.
"No way, you're lying."Raynaire in shock.
"We met up with the other two and had a talk. They told us that yours and their actions were separate from the Fallen Angels. " Akeno informed her.
Vergil can somewhat imagine how that conversation went down.
"One other thing, the President is the daughter of the household that has the power of destruction that is even feared by some of the other nobles. She is also known as the "Crimson Haired Princess of Ruin."
"The sacred gear of Raiden, information about it is little to none. The only information about it is that it comes from the Legendary Black Dragon also known as the Grim Reaper of Dragons. It has only been seen twice. Once in the Great War and the other time in the Demon world."
"There was such a dragon yet no one has ever defeated it."
"Only one person has fought the dragon and survived. The Legendary Dark Knight Sparda."
"The demon that betrayed his own kin fought such being."
"Yes indeed. Enough about that, you've caused my servant enough trouble, it's time for you to disappear. I'll be taking that scared gear of yours as well." Rias unleashing a red aura. Raynaire shook in fear.
"Raiden-kun, please save me from her! She is trying to kill me! I love you, I like you, please don't let her kill me!" Raynaire begging and trying to plead for her life.
"Not very classy for someone's dying words." Vergil looked at her with disgust and disbelief started to walk off slowly.
Rias charged up a destructive ball. Raynaire kept on pleading and begging for her life.
"Someone, anyone please save me. Ah, Lord Mundus, please save me!"
*Sparda theme Devil Sunday ost cue*
"Mundus?" Rias paused for a second after hearing a strange name.
The next moment there was a chill in the room and a massive killing intent was felt. Just like the Grim Reaper himself, something dash passed everyone and came for Raynaire. Vergil just stabbed Raynaire in the gut. She spits up blood and everyone was in surprise at what just happened.
"How do you know that name?" Vergil's eyes were glowing blue and had a blue aura around him.
*Spits up blood*"The Emperor of Darkness, even us Fallen Angels have heard of him. He will return and take over the humans and demons. Hehe. He will rule all the worlds."
"Is that so? Unfortunately you won't live to see that world." Vergil steps back and pulls Yamato out, spins sheaths his sword and fires several Perfect Judgement Cut at Raynaire.
"Down you go!"

"Fall like scum!"

Raynaire had horrible cuts all over her body from head to toe. Parts of her flesh were missing, bone parts were exposed and parts of her inside were hanging out and then she fell to the ground and disappeared. The only thing that was left was Asia's sacred gear. The room was silent, and Vergil picked up the green orb that originally belonged to Asia and placed it back into her body.
"Hold on Raiden, you won't want to miss this." Rias pulled out a Bishop chess piece.
"Is that?"
"Indeed it is. It would be a waste to not put that gear of hers to use."
"Understood."
The other members drew the magic circle and placed Asia in the center. Rias places the evil piece on Asia chest and it descends in. Rias began the chant to make Asia a devil. It was a successful reincarnation and Asia slowly began to open her eyes. She looked around and was a little confused as to what was going on. Rias explained the situation to Asia and she took it pretty well, surprisingly. She did have one question for Vergil.
"Umm. Raiden-san. Do you remember what I asked you before?"
"Hmm? What of it?"
"Well, what's your answer?" Asia had a serious face staring at Vergil.
"I already gave you a proper answer. Don't make me repeat myself." Crossing his arms and looking elsewhere. Asia started to pout and everyone gave a laugh. Vergil thought to himself about Raynaire words, and knew he must gain more power if he wanted any hope in defeating Mundus. The subject about him will come up again someday. Mundas is a threat that must be destroyed but that won't a simple matter.
Vergil's Home
It was late and Vergil returned home exhausted from his battle with the Fallen Angels. He went to sleep as soon as he could because he had training in the morning with Rias, so it was best to get some rest. Vergil went to sleep and again the nightmares continued. It starts by showing the loss of everything he had from his previous home to his mother and the two he meant to protect. The nightmare went a step further and showed the dead bodies of the occult members. Nelo Angelo was at the center of it all. Vergil was irritated and saddened by this loss. He prepares to battle with his dark self. The area turns dark and then a voice talks to him.
"A rather unpleasant past you have there, Vergil, Son of Sparda?"
"Who's there? Show yourself!"
"Well that's the whole point of this meeting here partner." A large jetblack dragon appears before Vergil.
"I am the one who rests in your left hand. The one known as the Grim Reaper of Dragons or the Shadow Dragon in this case, but you can call me Kurayami(Deep Darkness) There has been a lot of interference, but now I finally made contact with you."
"Partner you say."
"Indeed. I've seen all your thoughts and things in your mind. I see the power of a God of Death (Yamato) in you. I could not ask for a better hoist. That also includes things you may not be aware of Mfufu."
"It's quite reassuring to know I have you by my side. The Legendary Black Dragon."
"Indeed. I must go now. Let's talk again, partner." The dream ends and Vergil wakes up and looks at his left hand.
He looks at the clock and realizes that he is late to meet with Rias and the others for training today. Vergil rushes to get dressed and heads outside.
Track Field at school
Rias and the others were waiting on Vergil. They were all in their tracksuits ready to go. Rias had her arms crossed and had an irritated look.
"President, I overslept just a little."
"Oh don't worry, I haven't been waiting here too long. I hope you're ready to start your training today." Her arms were still crossed and a red aura started to develop around her. Vergil knew he messed up and accepted whatever punishment Rias had for him. Vergil was not prepared for the extreme training routine she had in store for him. Strength and Endurance exercise from hundreds of laps around the school, thousands of sit ups, hundreds of pull-ups and many more. The last exercise was 500 reps of weighted push-ups with Rias and Akeno on his back.
"480.. 483..486.."
"My, my, you're much more resilient than I thought. I'll have to make future adjustments just for you. Mfufuf." Rias with a smug expression.
"I didn't think you would make it through most of her extreme exercises. Such endurance is indeed praiseworthy." Akeno with a cheerful smile.
"490…. *huff*…493..*huff* Who would have thought that the President was such a Demon when it comes to training."
"What's that? You can do 150 more? You're so full of energy." Rias had a cheerful smile.
"Tsk."
Vergil had completed his training with the President. He has never been this tired and sore from training before. Vergil was lying on the ground completely worn out. Akeno brought over a sports drink and handmade Onigiri for everyone.
"I made enough for 2nds. Eat up and recover your strength." Akeno said with a cheerful smile. Vergil looks up at his portions.
"Akeno-san, you will most certainly make an excellent wife someday." Akeno blushes a bit and slaps him on the shoulder.
"Ara, ara, you shouldn't say such lovely things. Mfufufu." Akeno lets out a bashful smile.
Vergil grunts from being hit on his sore shoulder and everyone else got a laugh out of it. He glances over at Rias who is sitting behind everyone and notices she had a sad expression on face for reasons unknown.
"Wife huh?"
Occult Club
After training Vergil cleaned up and sat on the couch. He was still sore from his training, so he decided to kill some time by reading one of the books from the shelf. While reading he found it difficult to stay awake and fell asleep hunched over while sitting. Rias walks in the room and notices Vergil sleeping. She gave a smile and walked over before giving him a kiss on the forehead and then headed to her desk. Akeno walks in with some tea for everyone and catches a rare sight of Vergil sleeping, giving a small smile.
She sets the tray down for the others when they arrive and takes one over to Rias. Vergil wakes up and notices Rias and Akeno were giggling because they saw him sleeping. Vergil didn't mind it and helped himself to some tea. The other members made their way in. Tonight Asia will make her debut as a devil, so she will be passing out flyers to start out. In addition she will be teaming up with Koneko. Rias did not have much for them that evening so she sent them home and wished them a good night.
Vergil home evening time
Vergil returned home, still tired from the day. Tio greets him and notices he looks quite worn out.
"Ara, working extra hard today are we?"
"The President can be quite strict in her training."
"I'm sure she wants her servant to be in the best shape possible."
"I'm sure there is more to it than that."
"I've placed your plate in the microwave."
"Thank you Tio."
Vergil had dinner then went up the stairs to his room. He walks towards the bed that's next to the window and drops onto it. He turns around and begins to stare outside at the full moon. He pulls out his amulet from under his shirt and stares at it. As he stares at it, images of his mother and the life he had before pass through his mind. He holds the amulet close to his head and closes his eyes. More images of two girls appeared in his head but they were blurred out. Vergil cannot recall who they were. The next moment, a red circle appears in the middle of his room. Vergil looks over and recognizes the circle as Greymore and tucks his amulet back inside his shirt. Rias appears out of the circle. Vergil stands up and is curious as to what could bring her here at this time of the night. Rias walks over to Vergil with her head tilted down.
"President, is everything alright?"
"Something troubling has come up." Pushes Vergil on the bed and mount, while pinning him down.
"What's troubling you?" locking eye with Rias.
"Take me." Rias udder
"?"
"Take me now, become one with me Raiden." As she moved closer to his face and caressed it with her hand. Vergil raised an eyebrow.
"It's simple, just put your tool inside me."
"You do realize what you're asking me do?" Vergil raised an eyebrow.
"I know, but if it's you then I don't mind." Rias begins to take her top, skirt and bra off.
"Well, we are master and servant."
"No, it's something else. For some reason I've been having this nostalgic feeling from you. I can't explain it." Leans back in to pin Vergil.
"A nostalgic feeling?" staring in her eyes, Rias now leaning her head on Vergil's head.
"Is this your first time? It's mine as well. Here let me ease the tension."
*Light kiss on lips*
"Hmm, not bad." Vergil grabs Rias and now the positions have switched. Rias's hair covered part of breast and spread out on the bed.
"Are you finally getting in the mood?" Rias gave a small smile.
"No turning back now." Vergil slowly pulls her black lingerie panties off.
The next moment another circle appears in the middle of the room. It's another Gremory symbol.
"Raiden, this kiss doesn't count, understand?" Holding his head and looking him in the eyes. He nods in agreement. Vergil quickly grabs a sheet and covers Rias. A maid began to appear from the circle.
"Ojou-sama, do you think by doing this, the engagement will be called off?" Grayfia now standing in the middle of the room.
"I refuse to marry someone who I have no love for. My father and brother have no say in the matter. Did father forget his promise?"
"By giving your chastity to a lowly and unknown devil, will not change anything." Grayfia picking up Rias clothes.
"I promise myself I will give it to only one person."
"OJOU-sama!" Grayfia glaring at Rias. She turns and notices Vergil sitting on the bed.
"Pleasure to meet you, I'm Grayfia servant of the Gremory family." Looking at Vergil with a serious look.
"Raiden. Pleasure to meet you." Not even bothered by her piercing gaze.
"Raiden? Then you're the one.."
"Yes, he is the one who possesses the gear of the legendary Grim Reaper of Dragons and is my pawn." Rias finishes getting dressed. Grayfia continues to intensely stare at Vergil.
"Grayfia, what brings you here to the human world?"
"That discussion will be held at your stronghold."
"Is that so? Is that coming from the household or my older brother."
"Both."
"I see. Then we shall head to my stronghold and continue this. I will have my Queen with me during our discussion."
"Naturally."
"Raiden, I showed you a rather unsightly side of me and wasn't thinking clearly. Let us forget everything that happened tonight."
"As you command, President."
Rias walks over to the center of the room and leaves with Grayfia. Vergil in the room by himself. Pondering about the things that just happened and the meaning behind them. It all points to one thing. "Engagement? No, it's more accurate to say an arranged marriage. But to who and why? What are their true intentions?"
The Occulte Building
Vergil heads to the club after school, still wondering about the events from last night. Yuuto and Asia greet Vergil and they all enter the room. Yuuto and Asia are surprised to see a silver haired maid in the room with Rias. Akeno and Koneko were also there in the room. Vergil sat on the couch and grabbed some tea and snacks that Akeno had placed on the table. It appears that there is an important announcement to make.
"I see everyone is now here. Before we begin I have an important announcement to make."
Before Rias could even make her announcement, a fiery circle appears unleashing heat waves. A man in blazers appears from the circle.
"The human world. The air is still distasteful since the last time I was , my lovely preparations are nearly complete." Making his way to Rias invading her personal space.
"Riser, why are you here?" strikes a hard elbow to his stomach.
"I always did enjoy that harsh and fiery attitude of yours."
"President, who is this man?" Vergil asks Rias.
"What, there is actually someone who has never heard of me? Rias, did you not tell them about me and us?" turning his attention to her.
"I was getting to that before you came barging in." crossing her arms.
"Everyone this Riser Phoenix-sama of the Phoenix household. He is soon to be Ojou-sama's husband." Grayfia announced.
Everyone is shocked by the news. Vergil breaks the handle of the tea he was drinking.
"I still refuse to marry you."
"Rias, you're the next in line to lead your family. Ever since your brother left, your family has been concerned that the family may go extinct like the other great families. This is for the future of pure Devils. I will bring you back to the Underworld, even if I have to burn all your servants here." Riser's fiery wings appear.
Akeno gets irritated by Riser's comments and disrespect, Asia gets a little scared, Yuuto and Koneko put on a serious expression and Vergil puts down his cup of tea.
"What a terrible match up." Vergil take a sip from his tea then puts it down.
"Riser, I won't marry you, even if you were the last of the great families left. I have already decided on who I will marry long ago."
"You're still holding on to that pipe dream of yours. Look Rias, the Sparda household was the dream any devil could wish for. They were the most powerful house until tragedy hit them. After he left, the demon world was a mess for quite some time. He decided to go and marry a human bitch and enjoy life in the human world. As for your half devil childhood friend it's unfortunate what happened to him and the last of his house members. If he somehow survived the attack, he has probably gone far away somewhere and forgotten about you or dea-"
*SLAP!* Rias delivered a hard slap to Riser's face.
"Don't you ever disrespect the Sparda family or threaten my servants. Lastly, don't you EVER talk down about my childhood friend. He will come back, I know he will." Rias staring down Riser ready to fight to the death.
"You stupid bitch!" Riser raises his hand to slap Rias when suddenly.
*Trick SFX*
Everyone was in shock as to what just happened. Vergil catches the slapping arm and stands in between Rias and Riser.
"What the hell is up with your servant-" Riser begins to grunt in pain as Vergil squeezes his wrist.
"Riser-san was it? It's not very gentleman-like to hit a woman." Squeezes his wrist more
*Riser grunts*
"Secondly, you disrespect the President and her childhood friend." Adds more pressure to Riser arms causing him to drop to one knee.
Rias had a small smile on her face watching Vergil from behind.
"Lastly, you disrespect the Sparda household that saved the demon world and the human world." Vergil adds more pressure to his wrist.
"Scum like you, are not worthy to stand by the President's side." Vergil looking down at Riser.
"Wha-What did you say to me, you lowly devil from nowhere?" Riser getting furious.
Akeno gave a smile, impressed by Vergil's actions.
"Ojou-sama, restrain your servant. You too Riser-sama. If you act foolishly here, I won't hold back for either of you." Giving off an intense glare.
"Raiden." Rias puts her hand on his shoulder.
"As you command." Vergil lets go of Riser's arm and he immediately backs up while holding his wrist.
Vergil was not even bothered by Grayfia's intense gaze.
"It was anticipated that something like this would happen, so a rating game was prepared as a last resort."
"So they even prepared against my refusal."
"What's wrong, Rias? Are you afraid you will lose?"
"Absolutely not. I will crush you and this arranged marriage."
"That's cute coming from someone who has not officially debuted yet. I have already competed and won every match I played in. I'm undefeated.
"Well, we can always change that."
"You're on, but when I win, you will immediately marry me after the game."
"So both parties agree to settle things in the unofficial Rating Games."
"Yes." Both agreed.
"Then I shall inform both households."
Riser looks at the number of servants Rias and shakes his head.
"I hope you have more servants than the ones here, otherwise this game won't be much of a challenge. As they are now, they won't win against us. Better meet up in 10 days so that you can at least put up a fight. Here is why." Riser summons all his servants to the room, a complete chess set.
All the servants he summoned were women. Riser was also known to be quite the womanizer. Rasier greets his servants with passionate kisses..
"How repulsive." Vergil looked at Riser with disgust.
"Lowly devils like you can only dream of doing this kind of thing."
"I highly doubt that." Vergil crossing his arms
"Enough, I'll hear no more of this. Mira do it."
"Yes Riser-sama."
Riser servant Mira charges in for a thrust to Vergil gut. Vergil activated his gear *Boost*x2. He steps to the side, grabs her staff and throws her against the wall. Mira hits the wall and then the ground. She struggles to get back up.
"Tsk, so you got a skillful one there. What is he?"
"That is my prized Pawn."
"A pawn! I thought he would be your Rook. Well this might be an interesting match after all, however you can't win with just one chess piece. We will meet in ten days. One last thing about the rating games. It's not about giving pretty speeches to motivate your servants. It's about how well the king can draw out their servant's power, talent alone cannot achieve this."
"I'll remember that." Rias replied.
"You, Rias's Pawn. I look forward to crushing you in 10 days." Riser then leaves with the rest of his servants.
Vergil just gave a small smile while his arms were crossed .
"You're welcome to try."

Ch 4 A Reason to Fight.
Rias went into more detail about the phoenix and its relation to the Riser family. Vergil was looking at the papers and book Rias had out. There was one book that caught his eye, a book with a V on it. He opened it and turned to the back of the book. "From Vergil to Rias. Always together, not even time can separate us." Images began to fill his head from when they were kids.
"President, do you believe your childhood friend is still out there?" Slowing closing the book. Rias looked at Vergil and gave a warm smile.
"Yes, I do. He is the son of the Sparda. He won't be taken out so easily. I was originally promised to marry him. The first time I met his son was on a rainy day similar to tonight."
"A rainy day?"
"Yes. Our time there was wonderful, it was sad when we parted ways. He left me his favorite book to read and told me to hold on to it and that he left a part of himself with me. A few days after myself and Akeno returned home, we received word that there was an attack at his house and that there were no survivors. Father and mother were deeply saddened and mourned for them. Father would not allow me to go to the house, saying it's too dangerous and the attacker could still be there. I don't blame father, he was just looking out for me like any father would. I believe he is out there and something has keep him away all this time."
"I believe he will come back for you." Vergil standing up.
"Thank you Raiden." She grabs Vergil's hand. Then Vergil leaves the area to let Rias continue her studying.
Vergil walks down the hall that leads downstairs. While walking, he saw Akeno by the window staring outside. She had on a short white robe and her hair was in a ponytail.
"Ara, Raiden-san, good evening."
"Good evening Akeno-san."
"Rainy nights like this take me back. It helps me ease my mind." Akeno gave a smile and looked out the window.
"Akeno-san enjoys the rain?" Vergil notices Akeno wearing a chain necklace that looks similar to his.
*Itachi theme OST-Naruto Shuputten cue*
"Akeno-san, that's a nice necklace you have, may I take a look at it."
"Sure, I don't mind. It's a very precious item to me." Akeno pulls out the amulet that was tucked away. Akeno tells Vergil of how she met the Son of Sparda, and that she was with Rias when they met him. She also mentioned that he would marry both of them.
While leaving it on her neck, Vergil held it in one hand and examined it. He turned it over and saw writing on it saying " Vergil and Akeno til the end of time." Images from when he was a kid fill his head again. This time the images were complete. Vergil now remembers everything and his promise to both Rias and Akeno. Akeno grabs Vergil hand that is still on the amulet.
"I too believe he is out there somewhere and he will come back to us. A Son a Sparda doesn't go back on his word." Akeno smiles at Vergil then tucks away.
"I know he will come back for you as he promised." Vergil gave a small smile and placed his hand on Akeno's shoulder. Akeno also gave him a smile back. Vergil then heads down stairs. Vergil pulls his amulet out, looks at it and then tucks it away.
"So Rias and Akeno have been waiting all this time for me. Looks like I'll need to step up my training a bit."
"Now do you remember who they are and who you must protect?" Kage asked Vergil.
"Yes, however it's still not safe to tell them yet. As long as Mundas is out there, he will use that against me in some way. That I cannot allow."
"They are not weak, Vergil. Trust in them. You know they're going to be pissed when they find out you've been here right under their noses."
"I know. But It's for their safety."
"Good, as long as you explain that, I'm sure it will be fine."
Vergil heads outside to the front of the manor. Carrying a wooden sword in his hand. Tio was outside in a blue kimono waiting on Vergil.
*DMC3 Prologue OST*
"Tio, I remember. Both of them and what I must do."
"Good. Now you can expect your training to be much harder from now on." Tio smiled.
"I'll be in your care." Giving a small bow.
Akeno still by the window notices Vergil and Tio outside in the rain training. Her suddenly widened.
