Chapter 4. A Reason to Fight
Club Room
After Riser and his group left, Rias canceled club activities for the day. While all but Akeno and her stayed behind to assist Rias. Rias caught a glimpse of Vergil leaving and gave a small smile. Afterwards, she began planning for the upcoming battle against Riser. Vergil and the others were walking down the hall heading downstairs.
"Do you believe we can win against Riser-san and his team? We are greatly outnumbered" Asia asked
"It will be a tough fight but I know the President will come up with something." Kiba replied.
"We just need to get stronger and crush them. That's all." Vergil tightens his fist.
"Umu. Well said." Kiba complements.
Koneko was eating snacks while walking with everyone else. Everyone went their separate ways once they passed the school gate. Asia and Koneko went one way and Kiba went another direction. Vergil walking back reflects on the current situation and what is at stake.
"We are indeed outnumbered. Kiba, Koneko and myself being the main fighting force. Akeno and Rias come next and Asia is the main support. Rias is the King and must not fall at all cost. If she falls we fall too. We can take out most of his forces with the right tactics. The question is what are the capabilities of the Queen and King." Vergil pondered while walking the streets.
Later that night Vergil slayed dozens of demons. He pushed himself just enough to be exhausted.
"Not enough. I need more power." Vergil clenched his fist and stared up into the night sky.
Rias's Dream
Rias was back in the demon world at her home. She was in the garden with Akeno having afternoon tea and snacks. One of the maids came and informed her that she had a guest who wanted an audience with her. Rias told the servant to bring the guest to the garden. The maid brought back a well dressed man in blue wearing a hat. He kept his eyes and hair covered so that he could conceal his identity. Rias took one last sip of her tea. During that time the man took off his hat and revealed his identity. Rias turned her head and then stood up in disbelief. Akeno, just as shocked, covered her mouth in disbelief. Tears began to roll down their cheeks, as they saw their long lost beloved. Vergil has come back to them. Rias runs over hugs and cries tears of joy on his chest.
"Kept you waiting huh?" Vergil looked at Rias with tears in her eyes.
"Yes. It's been too long." Rias replied
Akeno slowly and calmly walks over. Vergil and Rias see that crying as much. Akeno gave Vergil a light slap to the face.
"What took you so long!" As she holds her beloved Vergil once again.
"I definitely deserve that." Vergil just brushed the love tap off and just smiled. They sat down and Vergil explained all that has happened and why he has been gone for so long.
Vergil's Dream
Vergil once again battles with his nightmares. Surrounded by a mountain of demon bodies and a bloody mess. The demons have come for him and he welcomes them. He slays all of them mercilessly and without hesitations. The Image of his fallen mother flashed in his head every time he killed the demons. He could not save her and because of that he blames himself for his failure. He wasn't strong enough like his father and he also blames himself for being weak. Vergil is surrounded by darkness and a horde of demons. Vergil is ready to fight and slay the demons that took his mother from him. The next moment a light flashes and the demons disappear. A light deep within him still resided. It comes out and forms two small girls, though their image is not very clear. All he can make out is that they have red and black hair. They walk to Vergil and grab his hand and smile at him. Just for a brief moment he gave a small smile.
"Just who might you be? What are you trying to tell me?" he asked.
Three red circles appeared ahead of knew very well that is. Two giant hands reached out to grab the girls. Vergil steps forward and slashes the hands away. The three dots just laugh at him.
"I will find you, Son of Sparda. I will take everything you love and destroy it."
"Hmph. That's funny. I was gonna tell you the same thing, former Emperor of Darkness." Vergil replied and began to walk towards him.
"Muahaha, are you sure about that?" Mundas taunts Vergil and screams are heard behind him.
The two girls with red and black hair were surrounded by demons. Vergil heads back to them, but he is attacked from behind and pinned down by red demons were closing in. Vergil with all his might, breaks his binds and moves in. While Vergil was running back he saw his fallen mother on the ground. One of the last things she told him was to protect what's important to him. Vergil is now wondering if these two girls have some important connection to him.
"I'm not sure what their connection is with me but I can't allow any harm to come to them." Vergil thought to himself.
"I won't let it happen again! Not this time!" Vergil shouts out.
Vergil was a bloody mess and surrounded by demons. More demons are appearing and begin to move in. In that crowd of demons, Nelo Angilo was there, taunting him as well. If Vergil leaves them behind, he may have a chance at survival, but then he loses the girls to the demon horde. Vergil knew what he had to do but he was not sure why. He draws his sword and prepares to fight the demons and protect the mysterious girls.
Vergil wakes up from his nightmare in cold sweat. The enslavement of Mundus, the mysterious two girls and his fallen mother.
"What does it all mean and who are those blurred out girls I keep seeing?" Vergil pondered.
Vergil gets out of bed, throws some clothes on and then heads outside into the backyard. The sun will be up soon and Vergil is staring out into the distance. He continues to ponder over recent events and upcoming events.
"What troubles you?" Tio making her way to Vergil side. Vergil's looks at Tio then looks out to the horizon.
"The nightmares again?." Tio asked
"Yes." Vergil replied
"Also, your mother and mysterious girls."
"Yes. There is an important game that will determine the fate of President Rias and everyone else."
"Who is your opponent?"
"Riser Phoenix."
"Hoo. A powerful family indeed. One that will not be defeated so easily. Rias will have a tough fight."
"Something else keeps troubling me. I still feel like something very dear and important is missing. All I have left from my family is you Tio." Vergil looking at Tio.
Tio smiles and looks at Vergil and sees that his mind is concerned about a lot of things. There are a few ways to clear up a troubled mind.
"Hehe." Tio pulls Vergil in and hugs him.
"I'm very happy to be a part of your life. Don't worry others will come in time."
"Tio?"
"You've gotten stronger. Even if I was to tell you the answer, it would not be clear to you now. The devils value strength and power above all else. You must become that for Rias. " Tio looks at Vergil.
"Might control everything, without strength one can't protect anything, let alone oneself." Vergil replied.
"Yes, however true strength and power come from here." Tio points at his heart.
"You don't know the truth yet, however in time it will all be clear. I would like you to continue to watch over Rias and Akeno." Tio places her head on Vergil's head.
"I will. I do enjoy their company."
"They are indeed lovely ladies."
The sun was rising and a new day had begun. Tio turned her head and felt a familiar presence approaching the house, then she turned back Vergil's with a small grin.
"Go ahead, get cleaned up. I'll prepare breakfast."
"I'll take my leave then." Vergil heads back inside the house and takes a shower. After Vergil got cleaned up, he got dressed and headed downstairs. Vergil heads to the dinning room where breakfast was set up and to his surprise Rias was there having a good conversation with Tio.
"President? What brings you here?" Vergil asked.
"I've come to pick you up. We have ten days to train. I've also informed Tio-nee-san" Rias replied.
"Training out in the mountains makes a great training environment." Tio smiled.
"I got a bad feeling about this." Vergil thought to himself.
"I'll go over the details along the way. Prepare to head out immediately."
"Understood."
A few moments later…
"President, I'm ready to go." Vergil is packed and ready to depart.
"Excellent, let us depart at once."
They all begin to head out. Vergil noticed that Tio was also going with them.
"Tio, are you coming as well?" Vergil asked,
"Ara, looks like she forgot to mention that. EHehe."
"Raiden, Tio-nee-san will be assisting us in our training for the next 10 days. I plan to crush Riser in the upcoming game." Rias declared.
"I'll provide pointers, the rest will be left in your capable hands Rias-chan."
"Oh, I see." Vergil looked over at Tio who was just smiling.
"Well if it's Tio, then we will have a better chance at winning. If we survive her harsh training." Vergil was thinking to himself.
Somewhere in the mountain area
"It's such a nice day for a walk in the mountains." Tio being cheerful.
"Have you ever been in the mountains before?" Akeno asked Tio.
"This is a first for me. Maybe I will build a place in the mountains someday." Tio getting excited.
"We should be close to the house that we are staying at. Once we get there we will rest up and start training." Rias was looking at her notebook with the training schedule.
"Everyone, hang in there, we are almost at our destination!" Asia cheers everyone on.
Everyone was hiking with a respectable size backpack. Yuuto had a large backpack and was going at a decent pace. The next one on the trail was Koneko who was carrying a few coolers in addition to one her large backpack.
"Raiden-san! Hang in there, we are close to our destination!" Asia cheered him on.
Vergil was bringing up the rear. He was carrying a pack containing Rias, Akeno, Tio, Asia,Koneko and his own pack. Vergil was keeping a good pace but was breathing a little heavy.
"Is Raiden-san going to be ok?" Asia asked.
"Such determination, I wonder what drives him?" Akeno stated with curiosity.
"That is quite a load he is carrying, even by my standards of training." Rias had a concerned expression.
"Oh don't worry, he is more than capable of handling this." Tio had a smirk on her face looking back at Vergil.
Vergil doing his best, keeps moving forward and his clothes were drenched in sweat and a bit exhausted. Vergil knew Tio held him at a higher standard than the other demons, so this amount of training is to be expected from her.
"Tsk. It's been a while since I did this kind of training with her. Tio must have her reasons going this far. Well, let's see what else she has in store for us." Vergil thought to himself.
The trail came to the top of a hill and then turned to the right, straight to the house. The tree branches overlap each other providing shade. They all reach the campsite. It is a mansion with a lake to the side of it and behind the mansion a trail leading up to more mountains.
"We will change clothes and meet back up in one hour." Rias informed everyone.
"Raiden, would you be so kind and bring the bags inside?" Smiling at Vergil.
"Hmnp." Vergil brings the bags in then prepares to change clothes.
One hour later, swordsmanship with Yuuto
The first training session is with Yuuto goin over swordsmanship. Until this point, no one has seen much of Vergil's swordsmanship and other skills. They were all a bit curious on how well he would do against Yuuto.
"Alright, the first thing we will go over is swordsmanship with Yuuto. You will be using wooden swords. Asia will be here to treat any injuries. Remember this is training." Rias explained.
"I'll be in your care Raiden-san."
"I'll be in your care Yuuto-san."
Yuuto and Vergil took their stance and had their wooden swords ready. They charge in at each other locking swords. Yuuto went on the offense and Vergil was defending the attacks. After a few attacks Vergil turned the tide and went on the offense.
"Rias-chan, what do you make of this sparr?"
"I don't have much knowledge on swordsmanship but they look to be even right now."
"If that is how it appears to you then it can't be helped."
"What do you mean by that?" Rias asks Tio.
"This spar needs more flavor to it. Pushing each other, forcing each other to surpass their limits."
"I see, I will keep that in mind during my training session with him."
Tio and Rias turned their attention back to Vergil and Yuuto. They were going back and forth. After a few more attacks their swords locked up again.
"Vergil, are you intentionally holding back?" Tio thought to herself while watching them.
Rias ends the training session and asks Yuuto for his feedback.
"That's enough, Yuuto, please give us your feedback."
"I must say he has solid defense and attack. I don't see any issues with his current swordsmanship."
"Thank you, Yuuto. Let's head to the next training session with Akeno."
Everyone began to leave the area while Yuuto stayed back a bit. Looking at his wooden sword he noticed small chips and his arm was slightly shaken.
"I don't think we are at the same level at all. He was very well guarded and his attacks were just slightly quicker and precise. Next time I'm going all out." Yuuto is thinking to himself.
Demonic Magic Training with Akeno
The next training area was with Akeno, she will be going over demonic magic. Vergil and Asia will be participating in this session. Akeno gave her explanation and followed up with a demonstration. Now it was Vergil and Asia turn to try it out. Vergil concentrated on visualizing his power and giving it shape. A blue sphere began to form. Vergil opened his eyes and saw a sphere the size of a basketball in front him. Asia had also materialized her power as well.
"Wow, Asia, looks like you have a high aptitude for demonic magic." Akeno complements Asia.
"Looks like I do." Asia smiles at Akeno.
Akeno turned to Vergil and his sphere was the size of a baseball.
"Oh, I would have never guessed that you too have a good aptitude for demonic magic as well."
"I'm just as surprised as you are. By the way, Akeno-san, I have a request for you."
"Ara, let's hear your request."
Vergil walks over and tells Akeno about his request. She gave a few head nods.
"I have something that should help you with that. Wait here for a moment."
Akeno left the area for a moment and then came back with a box of vegetables and handed them to Vergil.
"Thank you Akeno-san, you have been a great help."
"Anything for my dear kouhai." Akeno smiled at Vergil.
Training with Koneko
The next training session was hand to hand combat with Koneko. She gives a short brief on hand to hand combat and then they begin to sparr.
"Now I will see where your skills are at."
She tosses Vergil a pair of gloves.
Vergil puts his gloves on and then got some distance from Koneko.
"I'll be in your care." As he assumes a basic fighting stance.
"Umu. I'll be in your care." Koneko assumes her stance as well.
Vergil charges in towards Koneko and goes for a punch, but Koneko steps to the side and counter's with her own punch. Vergil blocks her attack and then puts a little distance between them. Koneko charges in this time and delivers a series of punches. Vergil blocks and dodges her attacks while searching for an opening. Vergil found his opening and went for an uppercut, however Koneko backed up just in time to get out of the way. She does a couple backflips to get some distance.
"You're pretty good Raiden-senpai, but we are not done yet."
"You have some skills as well."
"Then how about this!" Koneko shouts and dashes towards Vergil.
This time Koneko was on the total offense and Vergil was defending. Koneko was delivering punches at a much faster pace this time however Vergil was still keeping up with her.
"What is this? How are you able to keep up with me?" Koneko was wondering.
Koneko continued her offensive punches. After she was about to deliver a straight punch, Vergil also did the same thing and their fist collided. They both continued to exchange blows while Vegil simply matched Koneko punch for punch. A straight, hook and another straight punch was the pattern. Their last punch made a small shockwave that blew the surrounding trees back a bit. They both jump back to distance themselves from each other.
"Looks to me like you have the basics already down. Next time we'll look into some tactics and techniques you can use in battle."
"I look forward to our next session. It looks like it's about time to train with the President. I don't want to keep her waiting. Until next time."
"Umu."
Vergil leaves the area to meet Rias. After Vergil left the area Koneko was a bit out of breath.
"How was he able to keep up with me? Even Yuuto would have a hard time trying to keep up at that pace." Koneko felt her arms shaking.
She looked at them and then looked at the direction Vergil left in.
Endurance training with Rias
The first part would be some basic exercises and movement drills except this time Vergil had a large boulder strap to his back. In addition, Rias would sit on top of the boulder while Vergil conducted the exercises.
"Come on! You can do more than that!"
Vergil breathed heavily and grunting while exercising but he kept pushing onwards. After a moment's rest, Vergil would hike up and around the mountain with the large boulder and Rias on his back.
"The President really is a demon." Vergil breathing heavily.
"What's that? You can do another three laps around the mountain? You're so motivated Raiden-kun" Rias smiled at Vergil.
"I expect no less from my master." Vergil slightly chuckled as he pressed onward.
After he completed his session with Rias, Vergil took a break. He made his way to a tree and sat in the shade there. Tio appeared by the tree to check up on Vergil.
"Ara, I see you are receiving quite a bit of training from Rias-chan." Tio appears.
"Tio. Yes, President is quite the devil when training. I should expect to see some good results by the end of this training camp."
"Ohoo. It Looks like someone other than myself is giving you some good training I see. Perhaps I could fill her in on some trade secrets for some of your future training with her."
"I wouldn't mind that at all." Vergil replied.
"Ara, that was unexpected. I was sure you would be totally against it."
"If it leads me to get stronger and more power then I will do whatever it takes."
"I see, then in that case, come with me."
"What about the others and their training?"
"I've already giving Rias the pointers she needed. The rest will be on her."
Tio began to walk towards the house. Vergil followed behind her shortly after. They came to the front of the house where the next training session will begin.
"Here we will focus on detecting demonic power and your concentration power."
"Concentration power?"
"In summary, the more you focus, the more powerful your attacks will be in battle. You may not have noticed, but your concentration is link to your gauntlet there." Tio explained
"I see."
"Now, come sit over and close your eyes."
"Alright."
"Now, focus on seeking demonic energy in the surrounding area. Do not seek them out with your eyes but feel them out by their power."
Vergil begins to focus on his surroundings. He started off with the area where the house is.
"I feel an incredible power here around the house."
"Whoops, don't worry about that one." Tio adjusted her power.
"Now I can feel the others in the surrounding area. Everyone seems to have a different color and size on them."
"Hoo, very nice indeed. This will help decipher who is who by the color of their power. It looks like you have a talent for magic detecting. This will aid you in battle when searching for opponents or allies. Maybe you will reach a point of fighting with your eyes closed one day."
"This will indeed be useful in battle."
"Be sure to practice honing this skill by searching far out or even something small."
Tio continued with her lesson and also more about his concentration power. She also informed him to meet later on at night to go over his swordsmanship.
Early evening,
Rain clouds were approaching the manor. Vergil and the others have finished training for the day. Vergil was in his room laying in bed staring at the ceiling. He knew the training Rias provided was good, however he needed more. The more he can train, the stronger and more powerful he could become. After all power was everything in the devil society and he needed more power to defeat Mundas. Vergil puts on his training attire continues his magic training. Vergil begin practicing his demonic magic. He was seeking a way he could make used of it while in battle. He has been firing it off on the vegetables he got from Akeno earlier in the day.
"Hmm, visualize your demonic magic and give it a shape or form. A circular shape could work but it could also be dodge. I need something that can be quick while attacking." Vergil analyzing the shots fired.
"Let's try this."
The circular shape began to change. It had two pointed ends making a spike. He fires it off into the vegetable.
"It's a start, I'll need more time to perfect it though."
Vergil looked at the clock and it was almost time to meet with Tio.
After closing the door to his room he runs into Rias dressed in her night attire.
"Can't sleep, President?"
"Why so formal? No its not that. I was just getting more tea and going over some battle tactics and strategies. Walk with me for a bit."
They went down the hall and into a study room. There were a few books and papers on the table where Rias was studying. Rias working on a strategy to defeat Riser. They both sat on couches facing each other. Rias then filled Vergil in on what she has come up with so far.
"I see, breaking his spirit or overwhelming him with power. We would have a better shot if we aim for the first one."
"This is also the same conclusion that I came up with so far. The phoenix is indeed a powerful and formidable beast."
Rias went into more detail about the phoenix and its relation to the Riser family.
"President, do you hate Riser?" Vergil asked.
"No, I don't hate him but he only likes me for my name as Gremory. All my life and everywhere I go it has been my family name that people see me as. I'm proud of my family name, it's just sometimes it can be a burden. That is why I went to school in the human world where no one knows about my family name."
Vergil continued looking at the papers and books Rias had lad out. There was one book that caught his eye, a book with a V on it. He opened it and turned to the back of the book. "From Vergil to Rias. "Hair red like strawberries and a smile warm like the sun. The sun is not shining, if you aren't smiling." Images began to fill his head from when they were kids.
"President, do you believe your childhood friend is still alive and out there?" Slowly closing the book. Rias looked at Vergil and gave a warm smile.
"Yes, I do. He is the Son of the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda. He won't be taken out so easily. I was originally promised to marry him. The first time I met his son was on a rainy day similar to tonight."
"A rainy day?"
"Yes. Our time there was wonderful, it was sad when we parted ways. He left me his favorite book to read and told me to hold on to it and that he left a part of himself with me. A few days after myself and Akeno returned home, we received word that there was an attack at his house and that there were no survivors. Father and mother were deeply saddened and mourned for them. Father would not allow me to go to the house, saying its too dangerous and the attacker could still be there. I don't blame father, he was just looking out for me like any father would. I believe he is out there and something has kept him away all this time. He is the only person who saw me for me and not as a Gremory. I miss him."
"I believe he will come back for you." Vergil standing up.
"Thank you Raiden." She gently grabs Vergil's hand. Vergil leaves the area to let Rias continue her studying.
Vergil walks down the hall that leads downstairs. While walking, he saw Akeno by the window staring outside. She had on a short white robe and her hair was in a ponytail.
"Ara, Raiden-kun, good evening."
"Good evening Akeno-san."
"Rainy nights like this take me back. It helps me ease my mind." Smile and looks out the window.
"Akeno-san enjoys the rain?" Vergil notices Akeno wearing a bronze chain necklace that looks similar to his.

"Akeno-san, that's a nice necklace you have, may I take a look at it."
"Sure, I don't mind. It's a very precious item to me." Akeno pulls out the amulet that was tucked away.
Akeno tells Vergil of how she met the Son of Sparda, and that she was with Rias when they met him many years ago. While leaving it on her neck, Vergil held it in one hand and examined it. He turned it over and saw writing on it saying " Vergil to Akeno, beautiful jetblack hair and gentle as a flower. Be the moon that lights up in darkness."' He brought the amulet to his head and held it there for a second. Images from when they were kids fill his head again. This time the images were complete. Flashback from when they met to the time of their separation. Vergil now remembers everything and his promise to both Rias and Akeno. Akeno gently grabs Vergil's hand that is still on the amulet.
"I too believe he is out there somewhere and he will come back to us. A Son a Sparda doesn't go back on his word." Akeno smiles at Vergil then tucks away.
"I know he will come back for you as he promised." Vergil gave a small smile and placed his hand on Akeno's shoulder. Akeno also gave him a smile back. Vergil then heads down stairs. Vergil pulls his silver amulet out and looks at it and then tucks it away.
"So Rias and Akeno have been waiting all this time for me. Looks like I'll need to step up my training a bit."
"Now do you remember, who they are and what you must do?" Kurayami asked Vergil.
"Yes, however it's still not safe to personally tell them yet. As long as Mundas is out there, he will use that against me in some way. That I cannot allow."
"They are not weak, Vergil. Trust in them as they trust in you. You know they're going to be pisst when they find out you've been here right under their nose."
"I know. It's not because they are weak, but because I don't want to lose them like I did my mother."
"I see, well as long as you explain that to them, I'm sure it will be fine."
"Perhaps there is a way to indirectly tell them."
"As long as the spell is active it will be unlikely, but a indirect method may work"
"There must be a way to leave a clue of some kind."
"There are a few loopholes we could try later. Hmm..Well you're just in luck, because the spell is now partially working on one person. If you can drop a clue for them, I'm sure she will catch on. That amulet does have a few special functions to it as well."
"You mean Akeno-san?"
"Indeed. If she notices some of your habits or things that 'Vergil' does, it will help."
"I do have a few ideas. Also there is something else I'll need to talk to you about later."
Vergil heads outside to the front of the manor. Carrying a wooden sword in his hand. Akeno is still by the upstairs window viewing the outside. Tio in a blue kimono also heads outside in the light rain.

"Tio, I remember who they are now. Both of them and what I must do."
"I'm very happy to hear that. Now you can expect your training to be much harder from now on." Tio smiled.
"I'll be in your care." Giving a small bow.
Akeno still by the window notices Vergil and Tio outside in the rain training. The amulet she is wearing begins to glow. She looks outside the window. Akeno's eyes suddenly widened as she sees a familiar scene in the rain. Flashback from when she met a younger Vergil began to appear as she looked outside. She heads down stairs, along the way the amulet was glowing brighter.
Tio drew a wooden sword and took her stance.
"Watch my movements closely." Tio commanded
Vergil ready his sword. Tio came charging in and her sword left a trail behind does an upper slash attack, Vergil steps to the side to dodge it. Tio then jumps into the air and assumes a modified quick draw stance. She was suddenly glowing, then explosively started spinning back to the ground. Vergil steps back and distances himself, knowing that the attack would break his sword. Tio begins running towards Vergil and he runs towards Tios. They both go for a running strike but Tio ducks and runs past Vergil. Vergil quickly turns around and charges towards Tio. After passing Vergil, Tio quickly turns around and holds the wooden sword over her head with the back of the sword in one hand. She began to glow again, this time she does a slash motion with one hand and a small tornado is unleashed. Vergil, not expecting the attack, is hit and sent flying back near the manor entrance.
Akeno just made it to the entrance of the door to the manor. Vergil was sent flying back and is down on one knee and out of breath.
"Can you keep going?" Tio asked Vergil.
He stood up while still holding his wooden sword.
"I can still fight."
"Good just what I would expect from my student." Tio said with a smile.
Vergil began to focus and concentrated his power. A blue aura began to from around him. While concentrating his amulet began to glow from underneath his shirt.
"Yes that's it. Concentrate more." Tio smiled.
Vergil opened his eyes and noticed his amulet glowing. He looked behind him and noticed Akeno at the entrance. The amulet she was wearing was also glowing. Vergil looked back just enough to not show his glowing amulet to Akeno. Akeno saw Vergil partially look back at her and then turn his attention back to Tio. The flashback from when they were kids appeared again in Akeno's mind. When she came back to her senses Vergil and Tio were not there anymore, but there was the sound of wooden swords clashing and puddles splashing in front of the mansion. The amulet is no longer glowing now.
"What could this mean? The amulet has never reacted like that before. It seems to react to Raiden-kun. The flashback to my dear childhood friend. Could there be some kind of connection?" Akeno is thinking to herself.
Akeno looked up and briefly saw Tio and Vergil for a moment before they disappeared from sight. The two bounce around the area before they distance themselves. Vergil charges forward towards Tio. Tio placed the wooden sword on her hip and assumed another strange stance. She glows purple, then gracefully floats on one leg towards Vergil with insane speed.(Fist of the Raging Demon SF) In a flash the sparr was now over. Tio was the only one standing and Vergil was on his back facing the rainy sky. Akeno looked amazed after witnessing Tio fight.
"You're making good progress. Make sure you keep practicing." Tio said with a smile.
Tio heads back to the house. Akeno watched Tio as she passed by her. She turned her attention back outside to where Vergil was lying. He wakes up coughing and catching his breath. Vergil struggles getting up but he manages to get to his feet.
"What is this feeling I'm getting from you Raiden-kun? Why am I getting this feeling of relief now?" Akeno kept asking herself.
Last day of training
Everyone has been working hard during the camp. Today is the day to see the results of the training.
"Alright everyone, it's now time to see the fruits of your training. Raiden charge up gear for 2 min."
"Understood."
*Boost! x10* and stop
"I was certain it would be a little higher." Rias a bit confused.
"I have a reason for that and you will see why." Vergil explains.
"Yuuto you will be up first." Rias commanded
"Understood." Yuuto replied.
"Raiden, what weapon will you choose?" Rias asked
"A sword will do just fine." Vergil picking up a wooden sword.
"Before we start, Tio if you would." Vergil looked at her.
"Hoo, going all out this time huh?" Tio tease.
"Just do it. I'll explain it later." Vergil replied.
"Are you sure you wanted to do that?" Yuuto asked Vergil
"It will be fine." Vergil replied.
Tio chanted a spell and a purple spell circle appeared in front of Yuuto giving him a boost.
"Nice, with this I wont lose." Yuuto gets excited.
Vergil began to concentrate and a small blue aura appeared around him. *Concentration level 1*
"The aura is much smaller than one he used with Tio-san." Akeno thought to herself.
"Shall we begin." Vergil is holding the wooden sword in one hand with the blade pointed to the ground.
They both got their distance and Yuuto assumed his stance.
"Begin!" Rias shouts out.
Yuuto moved at high speed to the point where he could not be seen. Vergil did not move an inch. Yuuto appears behind Vergil looking to end the match in one strike. Vergil blocks the attack without looking behind him.
"What! No way!" Yuuto shouts out.
Yuuto disappears again. This time Yuuto appears from the side and again Vergil blocks the attack again. Yuuto jumps back then charges in this time. Vergil charges in and both their swords lock. Yuuto tries to push forward but nothing is bugging. Vergil pushes for a slash attack but Yuuto moves out the way. A couple trees behind him were cut down. The two began to exchange strikes. Vergil pushes Yuuto back for a moment, then he assumes a quick draw stance, glows blue for a second and launched as overdrive projectile towards Yuuto. Yuuto was able to move out of the way of the projectile. It hit the mountain at an angle behind them. The other part of the mountain slid down. Everyone was shocked at the display of power.
"That's enough. Yuuto your feedback please."
"I was hoping to end the fight with that first attack, but you successfully block it. That last attack would have done me in had I not moved out of the way."
"If you didn't move out of the way, you would be in a lot of pain right now. You did well to go all out from the start." Vergil replied.
"Guess I got lucky."
"No. If you did not receive that buff from Tio, you would not have been able to dodge that last attack." Vergil corrected Yuuto.
"So that is the way. Next time I will rely on my own power to keep up with you." Yuuto points at Vergil.
"I'll look forward to that." Vergil replied.
Akeno has observed Vergil and noticed a difference between the first day and today. It's like he has begun to be more serious about things and not holding back as much. In addition she has been observing him with Tio to find out more clues to that night outside the house.
"President, allow me to go against him." Koneko requested.
"Eh? This is rather rare for you Koneko chan." Rias was surprised by Koneko's request.
"It's ok President. I'll do it." Vergil answered.
Koneko puts on her gloves. Tio also gave Keneko a buff before they started
Then they started their sparr shortly after.
"Begin!" Rias signal for the match to begin.
Koneko charges in towards Vergil. She threw the first punch and Vergil caught her fist. They pause for a second, then they began to exchange attacks. Koneko was throwing punches and kicks at the start and Vergil was blocking them. After Vergil blocked one of Koneko punches, Vergil delivered a kick that sent her flying back. As they continued, Koneko's attacks were hitting less. Vergil was utilizing a boxing type of dodge for this spar. Koneko went for a feint punch and then follow up with a jumping kick. Vergil blocks that attack, then follows up with a Rising Sun attack that sends Koneko spinning backwards. She lands on her feet and wipes her face.
"That's enough! Koneko gives us your feedback." Said Rias.
*Boost reset*
"Raiden, how long can you maintain that state?" Rias asked.
"I can maintain this level for about 10 minutes." Vergil replied.
"I see." Rias pondering that information.
"Raiden, I am not sure what happened over the last few days but you appear more motivated now and . Your techniques and movements are very impressive."
"Thank you Koneko. After seeing the results from everyone's training, I believe we have a shot at winning. Now let's rest up for the rest of today. We have a big day tomorrow." Rias brief everyone. The rest of time there was spent preparing for the big day.
Vergil's old home
Later that evening Tio took Vergil to his old home to visit his mother's and father's grave. Vergil brought flowers for the both of them. He walks up to the graves and takes a knee and places the flowers there.
"I'm back mother. Sorry it took so long. I will keep my promise to you I made that night. Father, I will settle things with Mundas rest assured. I will surpass you in my own way."
There was a small gust of wind that blew by. Once it settled down Vergil stood up and walked back towards Tio. They walked towards the house that was burned down. Tio opened a portal and they walked through. They returned back to training camp. Tio went inside first while Vergil stayed outside a little longer. He walked out of the lighted area and headed to the lake area. He sat down in the grass and stared out into the lake. A few minutes went by and Vergil received company.
"So this is where you were. This is a very calming area here." Rias admires the scene.
"President?"
"Is this seat taken?"
"Not at all, help yourself."
She sits next to Vergil and gets comfortable.
"The training is now complete and all that is left is the game tomorrow."
"Yes, I must admit it was quite an intense training session." Vergil replied.
"It was necessary, because we are going up against Riser. I care alot about my servants, you know. I must do everything in my power to defeat him and break this wedding engagement off." Rias made a fist.
"That much is certain. " Vergil replied. He turned his head and Rias had an intense stare at him.
"President?"
"I don't know why, but I'm getting this familiar feeling from you. It seems to be getting stronger as time goes by." Rias moved closer.
"Is that so? It could be that we are getting along very well, don't you think?" Vergil teased. Rias put on a pout expression.
"I don't know what it is, I will have to worry more about it after tomorrow. I want to prove my strength to Riser and everyone else." Rias with a determined look.
"That you will. We will show them your capabilities." Vergil replied. Rias smiled at Vergil.
"Come along it's getting late. Let's go back inside." Rias stands up and pulls on Vergil's arm.
"Alright, I'm coming." Vergil looked at Rias and the red moon was behind her. It was a spectacular view that Vergil had not seen in a while.
Day of the Rating Game
Everyone was waiting in the designated area and waiting patiently. They wore their high school uniforms to the game. Yuuto was putting the last of his gear on, Koneko was eating treats, Asia was a bit nervous since its her first game, Rias and Akeno talking on one side of the room and Vergil was sitting down on the couch with his arms crossed and eyes closed. Grayfia entered the room.
"The preparations are complete. Are there any last preparations you need to make?. If there aren't any then step inside this circle. This transporter will take you to the designated area. The devil king will also be watching, so do your best out there." Grayfia explained.
"Nii-san will be watching as well?" Rias was surprised.
"The Devil King is here too?" Vergil is a bit curious.
Akeno explains that when the previous devil king was killed there was a need for a new one. Rias's brother was chosen and had to leave his family name behind.
Everyone made their way to the transporter. Vergil was making his way when Tio showed up.
"Tio?" Vergil is surprised to see her here.
"I came to wish you all good luck in your match today. I'll be cheering on the side." Tio looking at everyone and Vergil.
Vergil gave a head nod to the circle then they all were transported to the area.
The Arena
The setting for the area will be the highschool itself. Vergil looked outside the window and saw the replica of the school.
"An impressive replica of the school." Vergil admired the work done.
"Since we have the home field advantage, we can make use of this." Rias commented.
Yuuto puts a layout of the map on the wall and Rias begins to explain their plan of attack. After going over their attack plan, Akeno hands out an ear piece for everyone to communicate with. The final preparations were complete. Everyone but Vergil left the room to their designated area.
"Before you leave, Raiden lay your head down here." Rias points at her laps.
"Alright." Vergil is not sure what's going on but he follows through anyway. He places his head in her lap. He felt rather relaxed in this position.
"What is this sensation I'm feeling right now?" Vergil thought to himself.
"Fufufu. Well how is it?"
"I'm not sure. I have not experienced anything like this." Vergil replied.
"Well this is a special occasion. I'm going to unseal the power I sealed in you. I was not sure if you would be able to handle the power at the time but it looks like sealing it was the right call." Rias explained.
"How much was sealed away?"
"Half."
Rias began to unseal the hidden power within Vergil. He felt a surge of demonic power within. Vergil stood up and examined himself.
"This is good. Very good."
"We have no time to hold back on our opponent. We must defeat them swiftly." Rias placed her hands on the sides of Vergil's head.
"We will show them the power of Gremory. No, we will show them President's power." Vergil replied while grabbing Rias's hands.
She smiled at Vergil and then he left the room.
Outside.
Everyone was in position. Akeno was on the roof and Vergil, Yuuto and Koneko were outside. Asia was with Rias inside the command room.
"Akeno, please provide us with some cover."
"Understood."
Akeno extended her hand to the sky and created a fog to help conceal their movements.
"I'll be going first. I'll see you at the designated spot." Yuuto heading out.
It was now just Vergil and Koneko. They looked at each other and gave a head nod. They proceeded to the gym, which would be a key point. They enter through the back area. Vergil, testing his energy detection, could sense four people on the other side of the wall. They were Riser Rook and three Pawns.
"We know you're out there come out and face us." Riser Rook shouts out.
"Looks like we will have to fight our way through." Koneko looking at Vergil.
"Time to take out the trash." Vergil replied.
They came from behind the wall and confronted Riser pieces.
"I'll take on the Rook."
"I'll take on the pawns."
The two Rooks began their battle. Vergil began to walk towards the three Pawns.
"Be careful of this one. He can increase his strength a little bit." Miru warns the other pawns.
"Don't worry. We will just chop him up with this." As she pulls out a chainsaw.
"What a distasteful weapon." Vergil activating his gear but not amplifying his strength.
Vergil Vs Three Pawns.
The three Pawns came charging in at once. Vergil simply side steps all three of their attacks. Riser Pawns now surrounded Vergil on three different sides. They went on the offense again, this time Vergil stopped all their attacks then forced all three of them back.
"Did he get stronger from before? This could be really bad." Miru thought to herself.
Vergil, wasting no time, launched three demonic energy balls at them and made his move on the Pawns with chainsaw. He dash towards one Pawn and perform a roundhouse kick sending her flying back. The others tried to catch Vergil off guard and attack him from behind. He dodges the attack then follows up with an elbow strike to her head. Vergil turns around and delivers a barrage of kicks from one leg, then jumps back a few steps delivering a powerful straight punch that sends her flying back. Miru realizes she is no match and takes off running leaving the gym.
"How is a Pawn able to raise his strength so much?" The defeat Rook wondered. Vergil turned around in her direction.
"Trash like you are not worth raising my strength." Vergil replied.
"President, we have secured the gym." Vergil speaking into the comm piece.
"Excellent work. Akeno is just about finished with her preparation, head outside the gym immediately." Rias informed Vergil and Koneko.
"Understood." Both Vergil and Koneko replied.
They both hurried and headed outside the gym.
"We are clear of the gym."
"I'll take it from here Raiden-san. Thanks for buying me time." Akeno replied.
A few seconds later the gym was hit by thunder, completely obliterated.
*Announcement: One Rook and two Pawn taken by Rias-sama.*
Rias team is off to a good start. Vergil and Koneko began to proceed with the next part of the plan. The next moment they begin to head out, Koneko is hit by a powerful bombardment attack. It was quick and came with no warning. Yubelluna was floating high in the sky. Akeno appeared shortly after by Vergil and Koneko.
*Announcement one Rook taken by Riser-sama*
"This fight is pointless. You all and your master are fools. She should stop this pointless fight and just accept Riser-sama's hand in marriage." Yubelluna looking down on them.
"The only thing that is pointless is your master's attempt to marry President."
"Hmph. Struggle all you want. The results are already clear in this match."
"Akeno-Senpai, Raiden-Senpai. Was I useful?" Koneko asked them. Vergil took a knee by Koneko's side.
"You fought well. Rest here, we take it from here." Vergil replied.
Shortly after her body began to light up and then she disappeared.
"When a piece is defeated, they are transported to the medical facility. She will be alright." Akeno informed Vergil.
"It's better for her to rest there then out here." Vergil getting back to his feet.
"Raiden-kun, please meet up with Yuuto ahead. I will use all of my power to defeat Riser-sama Queen." Akeno declares.
"Very well. I'll leave her to you then. Don't pull any punches, Akeno-san."
"Ill give it everything I got. You always understand what needs to be done. I like that part about you very much."
Vergil heads out to the next area, while heading out the two queens create a massive explosion behind Vergil. He made it to the next area where Yuuto should be. Vergil met up with Yuuto who was behind the storage building. Vergil informs Yuuto on their current situation.
"Riser-sama's Queen will be a problem since she can hit us from high above on the battlefield."
"Akeno-san is currently battling her. That should buy us some time."
"We should make haste then." Yuuto preparing to head out.
Vergil and Yuuto head out towards the courtyard. Riser Knight Carmila was waiting there. She greeted them in a knightly fashion and Yuuto answered her challenge. Yuuto tells Vergil to go ahead and meet up with Rias but was stopped by Riser's Bishop, Rook, and more Pawns.
"We can't allow you to proceed any further. All of you deal with him" Ravel commands the other pieces.
"You think you stand a chance. Hmph." Vergil prepares to fight them all.
"After witnessing your display last time we can't risk you raising your strength. So we'll take you down here and now." Miru comments.
"Doesn't matter how many or who you are. I'll defeat all my of master enemies. This time you won't escape." Vergil glared at Miru.
"This guy has some guts. Interesting." Ravel amused.
"Hey kid, you have enough power now to use one of my abilities. It's perfect for these types of situations." Kurayami informed Vergil.
"Perfect."

Vergil vs other Chess Pieces
Vergil assumes his fighting stance. The other pieces close in on Vergil and begin their assault. Vergil was blocking and dodging all their attacks from different angles.
"How is this Pawn so powerful? I've never seen one so powerful and capable." Riser's little sister is curious about Vergil now.
Vergil and the pieces continue their battle. He roundhouse kicks one in the head, Hip toss another, kicks another in the gut, uppercuts then kicks another in the gut and elbow strikes another. The other pieces were down on one knee.
"Come on." Vergil waved his hand for them to come attack him.
*Announcement Rias-sama's Queen retire, Riser-samma takes Queen*
"What? Akeno lost? This queen must be a formidable opponent." Vergil is shocked after hearing the announcement.
Then there was an explosion where Yuuto was fighting the knight.
*Announcement Rias-sama's Knight retire Riser-samma takes Knight*
"Yuuto-san!" Vergil looks in Yuuto's direction.
"Guess this is as far as I go. Haha." Yuuto fell to the ground.
"You see now there are three pieces left. It's only a matter of time now." Ravel smirking. Vergil turned around to face his opponents.
"You're going down!" Vergil declared in a cold tone.

Concentration level 1.5
"What the.. stop him!" Ravel commanded.
Vergil had blue fire around his gauntlets and moved at such speed the other pieces could not keep up. He punches one pawn in the face, turns and does a spinning roundhouse kick on another pawn on the side, turns to another and does Lunar Kick to another pawn. Vergil appears in front of the Knight, does a low kick that sweeps her off her feet, then kicks like a soccer ball sending her flying. Vergil then appears in front of Miru and unleashes a series of kicks (Kick 13) followed by a Rising Sun kick sending Miru flying and spinning backwards.
*Badass*
"I got him!" The Rook shouts out.
Vergil appears below her view and performs a Triple Rising Dragon Uppercut sending her flying back. The Rooks gets back on her feet. She was struggling to stay up but she resumed the fight. She puts up a fight however she was no match for Vergil. All the opponents were struggling to get up. Vergil traced a blue horizontal line and in a flash unleashed a barrage of demonic energy. Riser's little sister was able to find cover in the building where Rias and Riser were fighting on top of. All of Vergil's opponents were on the ground and not moving.
*Sadistic*
Vergil looks up and see Rias and Riser battle on the roof. She had an injury on her arm. Vergil hurried off to meet up with Rias and Asia on rooftop.
"I need to hurry and finish quickly. I won't be able to hold this for much longer." Vergil thinks to himself as he rushes to Rias.
Inside the building
Vergil made it inside enemy territory and was now able to get the promotion.
"Promotion Queen!" Vergil shouts and received the power of the Queen.
"Alright, with this I bought enough time. It's time to end this."
Vergil began to make his way when he was about to pass by Riser's little sister who was leaning against a wall.
"You certainly have interesting abilities, why not stay and chat for a bit. The fight will end soon. We have this healing potion to heal injuries. That is why your team will lose.'' Vergil just ignored her and passed by her.
"Hey, that foolish master of yours can't win no matter what." Riser's little sister yells.
Vergil stops and fires six summoned swords at Riser's little sister, pinning her to the wall.
"I will not tolerate any disrespect towards President from your household. Anymore and I will end you here and now." Vergil glared at her.
She shivered in fear as if she saw death itself. Vergil continued to make his way to Rias.
"So that is why Akeno loss. Items like this can change the tide of battle. I'll save that talk for another day with Rias." Vergil thought to himself.
Rooftop
Rias and Riser were battling on the rooftop and Asian was supporting Rias.
"Rias stop this pointless fight. You will only embarrass your family and brother by continuing. The match is practically over." Riser trying to persuade Rias.
*Announcement Riser-sama Knight, Rook, Bishop and three Pawns retired Rias-sama take Knight, Rook, Bishop and three Pawns*
"Bullshit! How?"
"Raiden!" Rias impressed by Vergil.
"Tsk, he is quite capable, I'll give you that." Riser admits to Vergil's achievements.
"Master, I have returned to assist you." Yubelluna .
"I see their queen forces you to use your item. Your assistance won't be necessary. I'll do this myself so that Rias and her servants will respect me."
"Fuck You!" Rias shouts and blasts Riser's head.
"*Sign* This match was a mistake." Riser getting bored.
"Not as serious as yours." Vergil replied and made his entrance.
"Raiden-san." Rias and Asia turned towards Vergil as he made his way.
"It's about time we ended this President." Rias agrees with Vergil and Asia heals Rias.
"Yes." Rias standing next to Vergil
"Worse case, you will need to do the finishing blow. We can't let the King fall." Vergil explained
"Alright." Rias replied.
"I'll support you." Asia volunteering.
"That's not happening." Yubelluna traps Asia inside a barrier.
"Let's not stand on ceremony here Riser-san." Vergil walk towards Riser
"I'll deal with him and finish this." Riser walks towards Vergil.
Riser vs Vergil
Riser and Vergil walk up towards each other. Riser starts with a kick to Vergil gut, then backhands him in the face. Vergil was not affected by that attack. Riser goes for another strike but catches it.
"Complaisantly has cost you your strength, victory has defeated you." Vergil then punches Riser with the same hand he caught.
The two exchange blows, Vergil roundhouse kick Riser into a wall. Riser simply healed from his injury. The two continue to exchange blows. Vergil then jumps backwards, spins in a complete 360 degree and punches Riser in the head and he falls to the ground. He recovers from his injury again, gets up and tackles Vergil to the ground. Riser mounts Vergil and begins to punch him in the face. Vergil traps Riser's punching arm, drags him down and head butts him, Rias fires a demonic ball that hits Riser and throws him off. Vergil slowly gets up. Rias launched her supporting attacking whenever there was a opening.
Riser realizes that Vergil's attacks pack a serious punch and is not sure how many more he will be able to take before his phoenix healing power begins to slow down. He looks at his Queen and give her a head nod. Vergil closes in on Riser, looking to end the battle after another boost when suddenly he senses a large demonic power building up high over Rias area.
"Oh Shit!" Vergil thought to himself.
"Kurayami! I need more power!" Vergil shouts into his gauntlet as he runs towards Rias.

There were multiple explosions that went off in Rias area and no one could see anything.
Unconscious Rias dream
Rias was briefly dreaming of her beloved Vergil. She is running towards him in tears. Vergil opens his arms to welcome her. Suddenly she hears her name being called. She looks around and does see anyone else around. Vergil begins to fade.
"No! Don't go!" Rias yelled out in tears.
Rias hears her name being called again and again. Then she finally wakes up.
The rooftop
Rias begins to open her eyes after Vergil calls out to her. When she opens her eyes she is in shock to see Vergil a bloody mess, hair is not pushed back and clothes are torn up. Vergil protected her from six bombardments that took out her other Chess Pieces and was hit by the backlash of his gear for overusing it.
*Vague Hope- Neir Automata cue*
"President, thank God you're alright." Vergil relieved and slid the back of his hand down the side of her face.
"Why Raiden? Why would you go so far for me?" Rias getting a little teary eyed. Vergil slowly removed himself from on top of Rias onto his side.
"My master can be a handful sometimes, but that's one of the things I like about her. Haha. I wouldn't be a very good servant if I can't protect my master." Vergil replied. Vergil gently holds some of Rias hair and lets it fall out his hand.
"Ah, strawberry." He chuckled lightly and struggled getting up to his feet. The smoke started to clear up.
"Eh? Wait, what did you say." Rias was a bit confused and shocked cause there was only one person who said that phrase but she can't remember clearly.
"No time to talk now. We got a Rating game to win." Vergil looked at Rias with one eye open, brushed his blue hair back and gave a small grin.
"Let's dance." Vergil grinned.
Medical Recovery Room
Akeno was in a bed in the medical facility. The nurse just left her some tea and she began to slowly drink it. She turned on the monitor to watch what remains of the game. She saw the beginning of Vergil and Riser fight and was amazed by it. She was even more amazed by how Vergil protected Rias from that bombardment.
"Raiden-kun can be so manly. I wish he would protect and mount me like ." Akeno stated while drinking her tea.
Suddenly she saw something while drinking her tea. Akeno dropped her cup of tea on the floor.
"No way. No way." Akeno in disbelief after what she just witnessed on the screen.
Akeno's eyes glued to the screen after watching Vergil push his hair back. This was something one other person she knows has done and no other guy has done this. Akeno began to have tears roll down her eyes.
The rooftop
Riser is waiting for the smoke to clear up.
"That should be a checkmate. No one could withstand that." Riser stated while looking at his Queen.
Vergil came dashing out of the remaining smoke. Riser and his Queen in complete shock and disbelief.
"What are you some kind of monster?" Riser had an irritated expression.
Vergil closed in and delivered a hard punch that sent Riser crashing to the ground. Vergil then turns his attention to Yubelluna. He punches her in the gut, then hits her with the back of his fist so hard her whole body is spinning like a log. Vergil then grabs her ankle and throws her against the wall by the entrance. The queen still stuck to the wall, Vergil delivered a flying kick to the chest that pushed her back into the wall.
Vergil turns his attention back to Riser who is slowly getting up and back on his feet. Riser charging in towards Vergil. Vergil walking slowly towards him just gave a small grin. Riser closing in looking to strike first. Vergil dropped to one knee and elbow strikes Riser in the gut, then Vergil off balances Riser leg and then kicks him in the chest sending him rolling backwards. Riser healing is starting to slow down. Riser realizes he is in trouble now. Vergil is gathering what demonic power he can to finish the fight. Just as Vergil was about to deliver a decisive blow the ground under his feet collapsed. Vergil turns around and see that Yubelluna still had some fight in her. Vergil's drops summoning swords on her before falling.
*Announcement Rise-sama's Queen retires, Rias-sama takes queen.*
Vergil was now falling and starting to lose conciousious. The last thing he saw was Rias calling out to him and it also look like she was crying.
"Damn. Is this my limit?" Vergil asked himself.
Unknown location
Vergil woke in a location he was not familiar with.
"Where am I?" Vergil was wondering and looks at his surroundings.
"You fought well, Son of Sparda." Kurayami appeared before.
"Kage, you're here. What happened?"
"After you fell your master retired the match." Kurayami explained.
"Damnit. If only I had more power." Vergil getting frustrated.
"More power huh. It's ok to lose, just be sure to win the next time."
"Next time?"
"If you lose then come back stronger and win the next time."
"..."
"Tell me Vergil. Do you desire power to fight or do you fight to gain more power?"
"I never thought about it like that now that you mentioned it." Vergil replied.
"One thing I do know is that you turned out to be this way. You use your instincts to find more battles because there is no other way to get that power you desire. So pick up your sword and move forward. If someone stands in your way then you cut him up to pieces. Use that overwhelming power to slaughter your enemies. There is no other road that exists for you. All that is in front of you and everything that is behind you them out, all of them."
"..." Vergil's speechless.
"..." Kurayami speechless.
"Was that supposed to motivate me?" Vergil asked.
"Yes, did it work?" Kurayami asked.
"Heh. Now I'm feeling a little motivated."
"Good. Now go out there and show them your true power and the power of the dragon."
"My true power?" Vergil was curious now.
"I'll explain more later, right now you have someone waiting for you outside. Go now." Kurayami informed Vergil.
Vergil room
Vergil wakes up and is greeted by Grayfia.
"I see you're finally awake."
"How long have I been out?"
"A day and a half." Grayfia replied
"I see. Where is everyone?"
"They are in the demon world preparing to attend the wedding reception. All but her stay behind." Grayfia points over to a sleeping Akeno.
"Akeno-san?" Vergil
"Ever since the end of the game she has not left your side."
"I see."
"I was also informed to give you this invitation from the demon king.
Vergil opens the letter
Dear Dragon-kun,
I was very moved by your performance and how you protected my little sister. Unfortunately due to my position I can't interfere with the family affair. I've made arrangements for you to come to the party. If you want her then come and take her. Please save my dear little sister.
Sirzechs.
"This is a perfect chance to settle the score. I won't hand her over to anyone." Vergil declare.
"You truly do speak your mind." Grayfia amused.
"Might control everything and t without strength one can't protect anything, let alone yourself. Society values power and strength above all."
"So you're familiar with the ways of demon society."
"If President Rias does not have the strength to break free of this family problem then I will become her strength."
"You truly are an interesting devil, with that being said I will see you at the party then. Until we meet again Raiden-san." Grayfia stood up, gave a bow and took her leave.
Akeno began to wake up and saw Vergil. She immediately hugs him and holds tight.
"I wasn't sure if you would wake in time." Akeno sinking her head in Vergil's chest.
"I'm here now." Vergil held Akeno in his arms for a moment. While being held by Vergil, Akeno felt something under his blue shirt. Akeno looked at Vergil and he did not look at her. Akeno, curious, reached under his shirt and felt his amulet that was exactly like hers. After feeling the amulet her eyes widened and were teary. She felt her body pushed closer to his chest.
"Raiden-kun ..."
Akeno did not ask anything else about it. She simply hugged Vergil and he gave a little tear. Vergil knew this may be a bit painful for now, but he can only drop small hints. He let out a small tear. Vergil cleared his tears, he can't rest now because Rias needs him now more than ever. After all, he promised to rescue her if she was ever in trouble. Tio was at the door and smiled at Vergil.
"Raiden-kun the wedding reception?" Akeno asked him about it.
"I'm going and I will bring her back here." Vergil declare.
"I'm going with you."
"I'll need to make some preparations before I go."
"I have just the outfit for you on this occasion. It will be ready before you leave."
"This time there won't be any interruptions." Vergil made a fist.

Chapter 5 preview
The wedding reception
Vergil and Akeno walk I to the reception where everyone is located. (Vergil wearing DMC3 attire.) Akeno was wearing a black kimono. Everyone stopped and wondered who this handsome young devil was. Rias sees Vergil was impressed by his attire. Vergil and Akeno walk in towards Riser.
"Damn you! You really are a monster! Couldn't you have waited til after the ceremony?" Riser slightly impressed.
"I've come to retrieve my master. You can't have her."
Battle Area
"Kid the armor won't be ready for a while. You will have to use "that to finish this. I save the remaining power. You will have to finish him with the remaining power." Kage explained
"Riser, you will be the first to witness a power not seen in a long time. A power greater than you can ever imagine."
"Really, it looks more like you're about out from where I'm standing. haha"
"Hmph. Don't get so cocky." Vergil activates his devil trigger. A dark blue sphere of demonic energy surrounds Vergil.
"Raiden?" Rias' eyes widen as to what she has seen.
