π«πππ πππππππ ππ ππ stares at his brother and girlfriend (Which they made official a short while back.) from across the bar. Sam was excitedly talking about something, his mouth moving like crazy as Maeve responds back to him. What was bothering Dean, was the frown on her face; she was clearly uncomfortable or upset about whatever they were talking about. He sighs as he looks towards the bartender who just placed the beers down in front of him, he really wanted to talk to her about what he saw two days ago, but he had promised to give her time. Sam clearly knew, which to be honest, upset him more than he'd like to admit. Dean knew Maeve was something supernatural, he figured that out after watching her burn a rune off her body then control the insects like it was nothing. He also knew that she had done so to breathe underwater to save that young boy a few months back.
For some reason it didn't bother him as much as he thought it would, he really thought that he would want to kill her. He didn't however, and Sam clearly knew as well; probably more than him. Dean understood why she was keeping it a secret, not like he's been known to ask first, shoot later; it still hurt though. It also hurt that he had to watch her sleep for hours after removing her runes, it clearly took a toll on her body; not that she would ever admit it. He sighs, grabbing the beers and making his way over to his brother and woman who seemed to be talking about something else now. Dean smiles as he sits down next to her, a small smile of her own making its way onto her lips as she gives him a kiss before taking a beer. He wraps his arm around her neck, leaning back to watch her for a moment. He decided, he would let her tell him on her own time and that's when he would decide.
After all she is a supernatural creature.

π»ππ ππππ πππππππ, while Dean is on the computer, Maeve sleeps on their shared bed while Sam is drawing a picture of a tree. "All right. I've been cruisin' some websites. I think I found a few candidates for our next gig. A fishing trawler found off the coast of Cali β- its crew vanished. And, uh, we got some cattle mutilations in West Texas. Hey." Sam looks up from his drawing. "Am I boring you with this hunting evil stuff?" Dean asks his brother with a raised eyebrow as Sam lets out a small laugh and looks towards the passed out Maeve. "Seriously, she's the one over there sleeping like a log. No. I'm listening. Keep going." Sam mutters out as he laughs, Maeve who had woken up about halfway through Dean's speech turned to look towards the brothers. "I heard that." She grumbled out as she slowly sat up, her hand moving to rub the sleep from her eyes. Dean watches with a soft look in his eyes as Sam looks back down at what he was drawing.
"And, here, a Sacramento man shot himself in the head. Three times." Maeve makes her way to the bathroom with a small yawn, wincing slightly as her faded rune burned slightly. Dean waves his hand in front of Sam's face, "Any of these things blowin' up your skirt, pal?" Sam continues looking at his picture. "Wait. I've seen this." Dean frowns at his brother, "Seen what?" Sam gets up from the bed and goes searching through his duffel bag. "What are you doing?" Sam finds a photo of their family from when he was a baby. He compares the tree in the photo to his drawing. They are the exactly the same one, "Dean, I know where we have to go next." Sam states, looking towards his brother as Maeve returns from the bathroom with a small frown in her face. Her hands move within a towel as she dries them off, "Where?" Maeve and Dean ask at the same time. "Back home...back to Kansas." Dean froze at his brother's words, Maeve watches him with a pained look on her face.
"Okay, random. Where'd that come from?" Sam spins to him and shows the photo to Dean, "All right, um, this photo was taken in front of our old house, right? The house where Mom died?" Sam questions as Dean flinched slightly. "Yeah." He breathed out, "And it didn't burn down, right? I mean, not completely, they rebuilt it, right?" Sam questions as he starts packing his bag, Maeve looking between them with a sad look. "I guess so, yeah. What the hell are you talkin' about?" Dean snapped in annoyance, he was scared shitless right now. Maeve could tell just by looking at him as he starts sweating, she immediately moves over to grab his hand. "Okay, look, this is gonna sound crazy but...the people who live in our old house β- I think they might be in danger."
"Why would you think that?" Dean asks with a scoff, "Uh...it's just, um...look, just trust me on this, okay?" Sam starts to walk away, and Dean follows him. Maeve watching the brothers, "Wait, whoa, whoa, trust you?" Dean asked with wide eyes. "Yeah." Sam breathed out, "Come on, man, that's weak. You gotta give me a little bit more than that." Maeve frowned slightly at his words, she had a feeling he wasn't just talking about Sam. "I can't really explain it is all." Sam mumbles, "Well, tough. I'm not goin' anywhere until you do." Sam sighs. Dean waits expectantly, raising a brow at his brother. "I have these nightmares." Sam starts off, Dean scoffs as he nods with his brother. "I've noticed." Maeve moves to start packing her own bags. "And sometimes...they come true." Maeve pauses for a moment, Dean looks stunned. "Come again?"
"Look, Dean...I dreamt about Jessica's death β- for days before it happened." Dean shakes his head, a sigh escaping his lips. Great, now he has to deal with his brother being something supernatural on top of his girlfriend. "Sam, people have weird dreams, man. I'm sure it's just a coincidence." He sits down on the bed. "No, I dreamt about the blood dripping, her on the ceiling, the fire, everything, and I didn't do anything about it 'cause I didn't believe it. And now I'm dreaming about that tree, about our house, and about some woman inside screaming for help. I mean, that's where it all started, man, this has to mean something, right?" Dean sighs overwhelmed. "I don't know." He responds, as Sam moves to sit down across from Dean. "What do you mean you don't know, Dean? This woman might be in danger. I mean, this might even be the thing that killed Mom and Jessica!"
"All right, just slow down, would ya?" He stands up and begins pacing, his eyes moving to meet Maeve's who had already finished packing her bag. "I mean, first you tell me that you've got the Shining? And then you tell me that I've gotta go back home? Especially when..." Dean pauses, "When what?" Sam asks with a raised eyebrow towards his brother. "When I swore to myself that I would never go back there?" Dean speaks sadly, his shoulders sagging in defeat. Maeve immediately moves over to comfort him, which he takes in with gratitude. "Look, Dean, we have to check this out. Just to make sure." Sam finishes with a sad apologetic look towards his brother. "I know we do."
ππππππππ
π΄ππ πππ πππππππ ππππ of their faces as the pulled up across the street from the old Winchester home. Sam looks towards his brother with a sad look, this was a lot on both of them but Dean was taking it harder. He was older after all, being only four years old when he lost his mother and in some ways his father as well. Maeve places a hand on his shoulder, his own hand reaching up to squeeze it. "You gonna be all right, man?" Sam asks, frowning at Dean who takes in a breath. "Let me get back to you on that." They get out of the car. After knocking on the front door, a woman answers it. Sam looks shocked at the sight of her, which leads Dean and Maeve to conclude that she was the woman from his dreams. "Yes?" She questions, raising a brow at the trio. "Sorry to bother you, ma'am, but we're with the Federal..." Sam clears his throat, interrupting Dean. "I'm Sam Winchester, and this is my brother, Dean and his girlfriend, Maeve. We used to live here. You know, we were just drivin' by, and we were wondering if we could come see the old place."
"Winchester. Yeah, that's so funny. You know, I think I found some of your photos the other night." Dean immediately frowns at her words, "You did?" She nods and steps aside allowing them inside, "Come on in." Inside the house, the four of them go to the kitchen. A young girl is at the table doing homework, her jumpy toddler brother, is in his playpen. "Juice! Juice! Juice! Juice!" The young boy kept bouncing around, Maeve smiles gently at the young one. "That's Ritchie. He's kind of a juice junkie." She takes a sippy cup out of the refrigerator and hands it to Ritchie. "But, hey, at least he won't get dirty." She walks over to the little girl. "Sari, this is Sam and Dean. They used to live here, and this is Maeve, Dean's girlfriend." Sari looks between the trio with a small smile. "Hi." Dean waves.
"Hey, Sari." Sam speaks gently, smiling at the young girl. "So, you just moved in?" Dean asked the mother who nods a little, "Yeah, from Wichita." She answered with a small smile, "You got family here, or...?" Medusa asks this time as she bends down to play with Ritchie who immediately asks to be picked up by her. Jenny raises a brow at the woman, Ritchie usually never wants anyone other than her. "No. I just, uh...needed a fresh start, that's all. So, new town, new job β- I mean, as soon as I find one. New house." Dean watches Maeve with a look of awe and wonder on his face. His heart couldn't help but race at the sight of her with the kid, it didn't even worry him that she was something supernatural. Watching her be so normal, so human and happy, he couldn't even begin to imagine her being some evil creature.
"So, how you likin' it so far?" Sam asks, a small smile on his face as he looks away from his brother. "Well, uh, all due respect to your childhood home β- I mean, I'm sure you had lots of happy memories here." Dean smiles weakly, "But this place has its issues." Jenny winces at their looks of confusion. "What do you mean?" Sam and Maeve ask together as she puts Ritchie back down in his pen. "Well, it's just getting old. Like the wiring, you know? We've got flickering lights almost hourly." The trio make eye contact with one another. "Oh, that's too bad. What else?" Dean murmurs out, "Um...sink's backed up, there's rats in the basement." She pauses. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to complain." Dean doesn't look offended, "No. Have you seen the rats or have you just heard scratching?"
"It's just the scratching, actually." She laughs gently, "Mom?" Sari calls out as Jenny moves to kneel down next to her. "Ask them if it was here when they lived here." Sari told her mom, her voice gentle as she looks between them and her mother. "What, Sari?" Sam asks, looking down at the little girl with a confused look. "The thing in my closet." Sari confirms, "Oh, no, baby, there was nothing in their closets." Jenny looks to Sam and Dean, "Right?" She shot them a pointed look, silently threatening to say anything otherwise. "Right. No, no, of course not." Sam laughed with awkwardness as Dean and Maeve made eye contact with one another. "She had a nightmare the other night." Jenny laughed, "I wasn't dreaming. It came into my bedroom β- and it was on fire." Sam and Dean are shocked, Maeve watches them with a frown.
This wasn't good.
A few minutes later, Maeve, Dean and Sam are walking back to the car. "You hear that? A figure on fire." Sam started as he turned to face his brother, Medusa stood behind him them; her eyes scanning the house with a frown on her face. "And that woman, Jenny, that was the woman in your dreams?" Dean asked, Maeve finally looks back toward them as Sam nods. "Yeah. And you hear what she was talking about? Scratching, flickering lights, both signs of a malevolent spirit." Sam insisted, "Yeah, well, I'm just freaked out that your weirdo visions are comin' true." Sam looks towards his brother panicked. "Well, forget about that for a minute. The thing in the house, do you think it's the thing that killed Mom and Jessica?" Sam asked with wide eyes, Dean shakes his head. "I don't know!" Maeve immediately grabs his hand once more. He gave her a terrified look, "Well, I mean, has it come back or has it been here the whole time?"
"Or maybe it's something else entirely, Sam, we don't know yet." Maeve responded, turning to face him with a pointed look as she took notice of Dean's pained face. "Well, those people are in danger, Maeve. We have to get 'em out of that house." She nods in agreement, "And we will." She response with a sad look, "No, I mean now." Sam snipped back, Dean immediately moves forward with a frown. "And how you gonna do that, huh? You got a story that she's gonna believe?" Dean snipped back, "Then what are we supposed to do?" The trio climb in the impala and take off again. "We just gotta chill out, that's all. You know, if this was any other kind of job, what would we do?" Sam sighs, "We'd try to figure out what we were dealin' with. We'd dig into the history of the house." Dean pulls up into a gas station a little bit further down the road. "Exactly, except this time, we already know what happened." Dean responds with a nod, "Yeah, but how much do we know? I mean, how much do you actually remember?"
Dean hesitates for a moment before he turns to face his brother. "About that night, you mean?" He asks, "Yeah." Sam murmurs back gently with a sad look. "Not much. I remember the fire...the heat." He pauses for a moment. "And then I carried you out the front door." Dean shrugs, trying to play it off as if it was nothing. "You did?" Sam asked with a frown, he clearly didn't know it was Dean that carried him out that horrible night. "Yeah, what, you never knew that?" Sam shakes his head, "No." Maeve watches the two with a small sad smile, she loves to see how much they care for one another. "And, well, you know Dad's story as well as I do. Mom was...was on the ceiling. And whatever put her there was long gone by the time Dad found her." Sam slowly nodded with his brother's words. "And he never had a theory about what did it?" Maeve asked as she crossed her arms over her chest.
The three of them get out of the impala, the boys landing against the side as Maeve moves to pump the gas. She shoots Dean a wink who smirks back, she didn't mind doing it for him and he sure as hell didn't mind her taking care of his baby. "If he did, he kept it to himself. God knows we asked him enough times." Dean responds, "Okay. So, if we're gonna figure out what's goin' on now...we have to figure out what happened back then. And see if it's the same thing." Sam suggested with a small shrug of his shoulders. "Yeah. We'll talk to Dad's friends, neighbors, people who were there at the time." After a pause, Sam speaks up again. "Does this feel like just another job to you?" Dean says nothing for a moment. "I'll be right back. I gotta go to the bathroom." He walks away, Maeve watches with a small frown on her face as Sam sighs. After turning a corner, he stands next to the bathroom door and takes out his cell phone. After making sure no one can see him, he dials a number.
"This is John Winchester. If this is an emergency, call my son, Dean at 866-907-3235."
The beep sounds, "Dad? I know I've left you messages before. I don't even know if you'll get 'em." He clears his throat. "But I'm with Sam. And we're in Lawrence. And there's somethin' in our old house. I don't know if it's the thing that killed Mom or not, but..." His voice breaks. He pauses, barely keeping himself together. "...I don't know what to do." He begins to cry. "So, whatever you're doin', if you could get here. Please. I need your help, Dad." He hangs up sadly, with tears in his eyes.
ππππππππ
π΄ππ πππ, πΊππ πππ π«πππ are talking to the owner of the garage. "So you and John Winchester, you used to own this garage together?" Dean asked the man with a raised eyebrow, "Yeah, we used to, a long time ago. Matter of fact, it must be, uh...twenty years since John disappeared. So why the cops interested all of a sudden?" The man asks the trio, "Oh, we're re-opening some of our unsolved cases, and the Winchester disappearance is one of 'em." Maeve speaks up with a small smile, "Oh, well, what do you wanna know about John?" He looks between them with a small smile, "Well, whatever you remember, you know, whatever sticks out in your mind." Dean starts off with a shrug. "Well...he was a stubborn bastard, I remember that." The mechanic laughs, "And, uh, whatever the game, he hated to lose, you know? It's that whole Marine thing." Dean and Sam nod, Maeve winces slightly at the thought. A mentality like that gets you killed eventually, "But, oh, he sure loved Mary. And he doted on those kids."
"But that was before the fire?" Maeve asked, raising an eyebrow. "That's right." The owner responded, "He ever talk about that night?" San asked this time, the man shaking his head in response. "No, not at first. I think he was in shock." The trio shot one another looks, "Right. But eventually? What did he say about it?" Dean shot his brother a glare for all the questions. "Oh, he wasn't thinkin' straight. He said somethin' caused that fire and killed Mary." The boys immediately tense up, "He ever say what did it?" Dean asked, finally speaking up in this conversation. "Nothin' did it. It was an accident β- an electrical short in the ceiling or walls or somethin'. I begged him to get some help, but..." The man replied once more with a sigh and shrug, his face pulling into a sad expression. "But what?" Dean raised a brow, "Oh, he just got worse and worse."
"How?" Maeve asks, crossing her arms over her chest. "Oh, he started readin' these strange ol' books. He started goin' to see this palm reader in town." Dean raised an eyebrow with a small scoff, he couldn't believe his father would go to a palm reader for shit. "Palm reader? Uh, do you have a name?" Dean asks, as the man scoffs. "No."
Thirty minutes later, the car is parked by a payphone, where Sam is looking through a phonebook. Maeve and Dean stand near, "All right, so there are a few psychics and palm readers in town. There's someone named El Divino. There's, uh..." Sam laughs, "...there's the Mysterious Mister Fortinsky. Uh, Missouri Moseley." Dean frowns and pauses for a moment. "Wait, wait. Missouri Moseley?" Sam and Maeve turn to face Dean. "What?" The asked together, "That's a psychic?" Dean raised a brow towards his brother. "Uh, yeah. Yeah, I guess so." Dean goes into the backseat of the car and pulls out John's journal. "In Dad's journal...here, look at this." He opens to the first page. "First page, first sentence, read that." Sam takes the journal from Dean and starts reading. "I went to Missouri and I learned the truth." Dean shakes his head shrugging "I always thought he meant the state."
ππππππππ
π¨ π πππ πππππππ πππππ is escorting a man out of the house while Dean, Maeve and Sam sit on the couch, waiting. "All right, there. Don't you worry 'bout a thing. Your wife is crazy about you." The man thanks her and she closes the front door behind him. "Whew. Poor bastard. His woman is cold-bangin' the gardener." Maeve snorted lightly at the woman's words. "Why didn't you tell him?" Dean asked her with a confused look, she gave him a smile back. "People don't come here for the truth. They come for good news." The trio stares at Missouri, "Well? Sam and Dean, come on already, I ain't got all day." She leaves the room. Dean and Sam exchange a confused look and follow her into the next room. "Well, lemme look at ya." She laughs, "Oh, you boys grew up handsome." She points a finger at Dean. "And you were one goofy-lookin' kid, too." Dean glares at her while Sam smirks, Maeve chuckles lightly. "Sam." She grabs his hand, "Oh, honey...I'm sorry about your girlfriend." The boys are shocked, Maeve however didn't seem so shocked. From the moment they entered the house, she could feel a connection to the woman. "And your father β- he's missin'?"
"How'd you know all that?" Sam asked her, "Well, you were just thinkin' it just now." Sam raises his eyebrows, surprised. "Well, where is he? Is he okay?" Dean asked in a somewhat demanding tone causing the woman to raise an eyebrow at him. "I don't know." Missouri snipped back, "Don't know? Well, you're supposed to be a psychic, right?" She scoffs at his words, "Boy, you see me sawin' some bony tramp in half? You think I'm a magician?" She turns to face Maeve with a kind sad smile, "Hello, Maeve. It's an honor to meet you." Maeve shivered slightly as they shook hands, Missouri's eyes widening slightly. "Oh, honey." She breathes out gently as Maeve snatches her hand from the woman's with a frown towards the floor. Missouri nods with a small smile, "I may be able to read thoughts and sense energies in a room, but I can't just pull facts out of thin air. Sit, please." Sam smirks at Dean and they sit down. Missouri snaps at Dean, "Boy, you put your foot on my coffee table, I'm 'a whack you with a spoon!"
"I didn't do anything." Dean utters out with wide eyes. "But you were thinkin' about it." Dean raises his eyebrows as Maeve and Sam smile towards him. "Okay. So, our dad β- when did you first meet him?" Sam asks changing the subject, the trio turning to face the woman with confusion. "He came for a reading. A few days after the fire. I just told him what was really out there in the dark. I guess you could say...I drew back the curtains for him." She speaks gently with a shrug, so she was the reason for the boys growing up the way they did; after their own father. "What about the fire? Do you know about what killed our mom?" Dean asks, "A little. Your daddy took me to your house. He was hopin' I could sense the echoes, the fingerprints of this thing." Maeve clears her throat and raises a brow towards the woman. "And could you?" Medusa asks, "I..." She shakes her head. "What was it?" Missouri speaks softly, "I don't know. Oh, but it was evil."
She pauses for a moment before sighing, "So...you think somethin' is back in that house?" They nod in response, "Definitely." Sam breaths out. "I don't understand." She grunts out with a shake of her head, "What?" Sam and Maeve spoke together with frown on their faces as they watched her reaction. "I haven't been back inside, but I've been keepin' an eye on the place, and it's been quiet. No sudden deaths, no freak accidents. Why is it actin' up now?" She questions out loud, her brows furrowing in confusion. "I don't know. But Dad going missing and Jessica dying and now this house all happening at once β- it just feels like something's starting." Sam explained to her, Dean scoffs at his words. "That's a comforting thought."
An hour later, Dean knocks on the door to their old home, Jenny answers it with a panicked look and sees the trio plus Missouri standing there. "Maeve, Sam, Dean. What are you doing here?" She smiles at them tensely as she readjusts her son on her hip. "Hey, Jenny. This is our friend, Missouri." Sam introduces Missouri with a smile, Maeve and the older woman frowning at the scared look upon Jenny's face. Something just happened to her, "If it's not too much trouble, we were hoping to show her the old house. You know, for old time's sake." Dean smiles at her as Maeve elbows him in his side, clearly not getting the memo. "You know, this isn't a good time. I'm kind of busy." Jenny laughs awkwardly, "Listen, Jenny, it's important." Missouri smacks him on the back of the head, "Ow!" Dean yelps in response as he holds his head.
"Give the poor girl a break, can't you see she's upset?" She turns to Jenny with a smile, "Forgive this boy, he means well, he's just not the sharpest tool in the shed, but hear me out." Dean looks stunned as Maeve sighs, "I tried to warn you." Maeve murmured gently as she gives him a pointed look. "About what?" Jenny asked with a frown as she looks between the group of four. "About this house." Missouri answers her, shooting her a look. "What are you talking about?" Jenny laughs fakely as she shifts uncomfortably. "I think you know what I'm talking about. You think there's something in this house, something that wants to hurt your family. Am I mistaken?" Jenny makes eye contact with Maeve who gives her a small smile and nod, "Who are you?" Jenny asks slowly, "We're people who can help, who can stop this thing. But you're gonna have to trust us, just a little." She looks unsure by Missouri's words.
A few moments later, Missouri, Maeve and the boys are in Sari's bedroom. "If there's a dark energy around here, this room should be the center of it." Medusa nods in agreement as a shiver runs down her spine. She winces slightly as one of her runes started to burn, the specific one that meant it was something she didn't want to find out the reason for its warning. "Why?" Sam asks with a cock of his head, breaking Maeve from her thoughts. Her hand, moving to rub the rune for a second as she looks around the room, "This used to be your nursery, Sam. This is where it all happened." Sam glances at the ceiling. While Missouri looks around the room, Dean pulls out his EMF meter. "That an EMF?" Missouri asks him with a raised eyebrow. "Yeah." He nods back with a frown, Missouri scoffs. "Amateur." Dean glares at her, Maeve snorts lightly causing Dean to shoot her a look as well.
He nudges Sam and shows him that the EMF is beeping frantically. "I don't know if you boys should be disappointed or relieved, but this ain't the thing that took your mom." Missouri mutters out as she looks towards the boy trio. "Wait, are you sure?" She nods, "How do you know?" Sam asks her with a raised brow. "It isn't the same energy I felt the last time I was here. It's somethin' different." Missouri explains her eyes turning towards Medusa who she knew could feel it too. "What is it?" Dean asks, looking between the two woman with a frown. "Not it." Maeve speaks up as she opens the closet. "Them. There's more than one spirit in this place." Sam and Dean watch as she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath.
"What are they doing here?" Dean asked his girlfriend with a gentle voice, his body moving towards her. "They're here because of what happened to your family. You see, all those years ago, real evil came to you. It walked this house. That kind of evil leaves wounds. And sometimes, wounds get infected." Missouri speaks up, her eyes scanning the couple. "I don't understand." Sam breathes out, "This place is a magnet for paranormal energy. It's attracted a poltergeist. A nasty one. And it won't rest until Jenny and her babies are dead." Missouri finishes off, Dean grunts as he pulls Maeve in close to his body. He really needs a hug right now, "You said there was more than one spirit." Sam speaks up again, watching them with a small smile.
"There is. I just can't quite make out the second one." Medusa speaks up from Dean's chest as she looks towards Sam with a frown. "Well, one thing's for damn sure β- nobody's dyin' in this house ever again. So whatever is here, how do we stop it?"
ππππππππ
π©πππ ππ π΄πππππππ'π πππππ, the four are sitting around a table. On the table are different herbs and roots, "So, what is all this stuff, anyway?" Dean asks as he picks something up with a disgusted look. Maeve slaps his hand gently, shooting him a look to which he pouts at. "Angelica Root, Van Van oil, crossroad dirt, a few other odds and ends." Missouri responds as she smiles at the couple, "Yeah? What are we supposed to do with it?" Dean asked, raising a brow at the woman. "We're gonna put them inside the walls in the north, south, east, west corners on each floor of the house." Medusa finishes for Missouri who immediately nods in agreement. "We'll be punchin' holes in the dry wall. Jenny's gonna love that." Dean speaks dryly, shooting Maeve a look who leaned forward with a smirk. Dean's eyes immediately focused on her lips, "She'll live." Maeve breaths out as she speaks softly to her man who licks his lips. He goes to lean forward when Sam clears his throat and intrudes on their little game.
"And this'll destroy the spirits?" Sam asks, raising a brow towards Missouri who nods in response. "It should. It should purify the house completely. We'll each take a floor. But we work fast. Once the spirits realize what we're up to, things are gonna get bad." Another twenty minutes later, the trio stand outside the old Winchester house as Missouri walks Jenny and her kids outside. "Look, I'm not sure I'm comfortable leaving you guys here alone." Jenny grunts out with an awkward laugh, her eyes scanning over them with a worried look. "Just take your kids to the movies or somethin', and it'll be over by the time you get back." Jenny, still slightly unsure, leaves with her kids. Missouri meets the trio back inside the house, where Sam goes into one of the rooms with a hammer. He kneels down by the wall and begins using the end of the hammer to hit against the walls. While he is doing this, a plug on the other side of the room takes itself out of the outlet. A lamp begins to move on its own also.
The plug snakes its way towards Sam. Downstairs in the kitchen, Dean is punching the wall with a small ax. Behind him, a drawer begins to open on its own. In the basement, Missouri is looking around. She brings a bag full of herbs to the wall. She hears a noise and turns around to see a table coming towards her. She screams as it pins her against the wall, Maeve who is taking the center parts of each floor isn't having as much fun as the others, but hears her scream and quickly rushes downstairs to help her. Back in the kitchen, Dean also hears a noise. He quickly ducks just as a knife hurls itself into a cabinet. Dean places a table in front of himself as more knives come through it. Upstairs, Sam is chopping a hole in the wall. The lamp crashes to the ground. Sam turns around to see what the noise was, and the cord wraps itself around his neck.
Sam falls to the ground, trying to get the cord off. Eventually, he lays weak on the floor. Dean runs upstairs and into the room, Maeve quickly helps Missouri with her ghostly issue by shoving the bag into the wall. Missouri lets out a small laugh as she nods in gratitude towards Maeve, the woman moving to help her up. "Come on, mind reader." Medusa grunts out with a laugh as she helps Missouri up the stairs. "Sam!" Dean rushes over to Sam and tries to get the cord off, but it won't budge. Instead, Dean kicks a hole in the wall and places the bag of herbs inside. A blinding white light leaves the room. Once the spirit is gone, Dean goes back over to Sam, who is completely weak. Dean unravels the cord from around Sam's neck and pulls him into a fierce hug. The men turn to face the women as the enter the room, "You gentlemen having a moment? We can come back." Maeve smiles as Dean rushes forward to pull her into a hug, Missouri and San watching with smiles.
An hour later, Maeve, Dean, Sam, and Missouri are standing in the extremely messy kitchen. "You sure this is over?" Sam asks, looking towards the dark skinned woman. "I'm sure. Why? Why do you ask?" Missouri watches him with a raised eyebrow, "Never mind." He sighs. "It's nothin', I guess." They hear Jenny enter the house with her children. "Hello? We're home." She comes into the kitchen and looks around. "What happened?" She breaths out in shock at the sight of her messy ass kitchen, Maeve smirks as she takes notice of Missouri's look. "Hi, sorry. Um, we'll pay for all of this." Dean looks confused, "Don't you worry. Dean's gonna clean up this mess." Dean stands there, not moving. "Well, what are you waiting for, boy? Get the mop." He begins walking away. "And don't cuss at me!" Dean walks away, muttering under his breath. A little while later, Missouri and the boys leave the house. Jenny waves and shuts the door behind them, Maeve is ahead of Sam and Missouri with Dean as she teases him with a smile.
He pushes her gently with a laugh of his own as he speaks playfully to her before pulling her into a kiss. Missouri and Sam glance at one another before smiling once more at the couple who were speaking lowly to one another as Dean held her against him.
Later that night, outside, Dean, Maeve and Sam are sitting in the car. "All right, so, tell me again, what are we still doin' here?" Dean asks his brother, turning to face his brother. "I don't know. I just...I still have a bad feeling." Sam responds with a shrug as Maeve rubs her eyes, she was getting tired again. "Why? Missouri did her whole Zelda Rubenstein thing, the house should be clean, it should be over." Dean frowns in response. "Yeah, well, probably. But I just wanna make sure, that's all." Sam grunts out in response as his eyes train towards the house again. "Yeah, well, problem is I could be sleeping in a bed right now." Dean slides down in his seat and closes his eyes. Sam looks up at Jenny's bedroom window and sees her screaming, just as in his dream. "Maeve, Dean. Look, Dean!" They rush out of the car and run towards the house.
"You grab the kids, I'll get Jenny." Inside Sari's bedroom, the figure made out of fire is standing by her closet. In the hallway, Dean rushes to Jenny's bedroom door. Maeve rushes towards the kitchen with a frown as her eyes move across it. Pulling out her pen, she sighs as she hesitates, she really shouldn't. Closing her eyes, she pulls up her right pant leg and starts burning off the rune. "Come on, I know you're here. I felt your presence. Save your damn kids." Maeve hissed out, as Dean kicks down the door and brings her downstairs. "No, my kids!" Maeve hears Dean and Jenny, "Sam's got your kids, come on." While carrying Ritchie in his arms, Sam goes to Sari's bedroom, where she is screaming for help. Sam goes to her bed and picks her up in his other arm. "Don't look. Don't look!" They leave the bedroom. Outside, Dean and Jenny rush out of the house. Inside the house, Sam rushes down the stairs; her pauses for a split second when he notices Maeve lying on the floor and puts the kids down. "All right, Sari, take your brother outside as fast as you can, and don't look back."
Suddenly, an invisible force makes Sam fall to the floor. He slides backwards into another room, crashing into a table close to Maeve. Sari screams and runs outside with Ritchie, they rush to Dean and Jenny. Dean kneels down to Sari's eye level. "Sari, where's Sam and Maeve?" His eyes wide with worry, "They're inside. Something's got him, she was unconscious on the floor and Sam saw her." Panicked, Dean looks at the front door. It slams shut on its own, and he immediately rushes to the trunk of the Impala and grabs a rifle and an ax. He rushes to the front door and begins chopping away at it. Inside the kitchen, Sam gets flung into a set of cabinets while Maeve lays unconscious. He stands up and is pinned against the wall by the invisible force. He can't move any part of his body. The fire figure makes its way towards Sam. Dean continues chopping down parts of the door. Eventually, he makes a hole that he is able to step through. He walks through the house, looking for Sam and Maeve; the woman slowly coming too. She couldn't believe she let a damn poltergeist get the jump on her after she burns off a rune. Stupid.
"Maeve, Baby? Sam? Sam!" He finds Sam and Maeve, who is gently pushing herself back against the cabinets. As he looks at the fire figure, he raises his gun, "No, don't! Don't!" Sam shouts, his eyes slowly filling with tears. Maeve smiles gently as blood leaks down her head, she hated being a human sometimes. "What, why?!" Dean snaps in anger and worry, "Because I know who it is. I can see her now." Suddenly, the fire vanishes. Instead, standing in front of them is Mary Winchester, exactly as she was the night she died. Dean's expression softens. In shock, he lowers his gun slowly as he whimpers slightly. "Mom?" Mary smiles and steps closer to him. "Dean." Tears form in Dean's eyes, Mary walks away from him, her eyes turning towards Maeve for a moment. "Thank you." She breaths out, Maeve raises her hand and waves it with a grunt as Mary moves to Sam. Dean watches her, never taking his eyes off her as he moves over to help his girlfriend. "Sam." Sam smiles weakly, crying. His mother's smile fades. "I'm sorry."
"For what?" She looks at him sadly, but says nothing. She walks away from them and looks up at the ceiling. "You get out of my house. And let go of my son." Once again, she bursts into flames. When she is entirely engulfed, the fire reaches the ceiling and disappears. The force holding Sam to the wall is released. He walks over to Dean, and the two of them look at each other, stunned. "Now it's over." Sam grunts out as he helps Dean pull Maeve up, it was time to move on.
The next morning, Dean is standing by the car with Jenny, looking through old photos. "Thanks for these." Dean grunts out, his eyes turning to Maeve who is still passed out in the backseat. The moment they got her outside, she was out like a light. Dean immediately moving to search her body for another burned rune, which he knew was the reason for her sudden slumber. Sam had watched as he wrapped her leg up with a permanent frown but neither of them spoke of it. Sam knew Dean needed to know, he also had a feeling that Dean already knew something was up with her but he wasn't for sure. "Don't thank me, they're yours." Dean blinks, moving to put the trunk of photos into the car. Sitting on the front steps of the house, Sam is joined by Missouri. "Well, there are no spirits in there anymore, this time for sure." She smiles at the young man, "Not even my mom?" Sam asks gently, looking at her with his puppy dog eyes. "No."
"What happened?" He asked her, his voice gentle. "Your mom's spirit and the poltergeist's energy, they cancelled each other out. Your mom destroyed herself goin' after the thing. Maeve used her rune to power your mother's spirit, making her strong enough to do what she needed to do, save her sons." Missouri explains as her eyes turn towards the impala where Maeve laid. "Why would she do something like that?" Sam asks, both meaning his mother and Maeve. "Well, to protect her boys, of course." Sam nods, with tears in his eyes. Missouri goes to put her hand on his shoulder, but she stops herself. "Sam, I'm sorry." She breaths out with a sad smile, "For what?" He asks her as he takes his eyes off the impala. "You sensed it was here, didn't you? Even when I couldn't." She gave him a pointed look, "What's happening to me?" Sam asked gently as he frowned at her with a scared look on his face. "I know I should have all the answers, but I don't know." Missouri gives him a little smile as she shook her head, Dean turns to his brother and calls out. "Sam, you ready?" Sam nods and goes to the car. Jenny thanks all of them, "Don't you boys be strangers. And tell her that too, I bet she's got some good stories."
Missouri smiles at them, "We won't." Dean smirks with a nod towards her, "See you around." Jenny waves. They smile, get in the car, and drive away.
