π΄ππ πππ ππππππ ππ she sat up on the motel bed, she had taken over. Sam sat with his back to her on the other one as Dean stood beside the table within the room; his face stuffed within his father's journal. After the whole affair with their old home, they decided to start looking for their father once more. Dean had taken an interest in Maeve's runes; to which she reluctantly responded with the truth. She didn't tell him everything, but just enough to get him off her back for the moment. She explained that a man had placed them on her body to control her, if he hadn't then she would've died. It wasn't a lie, if she loses all of her runes; she will turn back into the monster she really was and had a high chance of dying from it. If she didn't, then she would be back to where she was ages ago, a monster on the run. Dean hadn't really said much to her since, he had told her he needed some time to process. It hurt her, but she understood and it has only been two days since. Sam still talked to her, and while Dean did talk to her; it was like he wasn't all there with her.
She made eye contact with her boyfriend from across the room as Sam speaks on the phone. "No, Dad was in California last we heard from him. We just thought.. he comes to you for 'munitions.. maybe you've seen him in the last few weeks. Just, call us if you hear anything." Dean gives her a small nod before looking down at the journal again. "Thanks." San hangs up, and Dean looks towards his brother. "Caleb hasn't heard from him?" Dean asks, his face pulling into a frown when Sam shakes his head in response. "Nope. Neither has Jefferson or Pastor Jim. What about the journal? Any leads in there?" Dean shakes his head, Maeve moves to stand. His eyes scanning her body as she stretches, Sam clears his throat with a smirk. "No, same as last time I looked. Nothing I can make out... I love the guy, but I swear, he writes like friggin' Yoda." Dean replied to his brother, his face pulled into a frown; not because of the journal but because of how he was feeling.
He knew he could trust Maeve, she had saved their lives more than he could handle, but he knew she was still lying to him. That's what he was upset about, he knew Sam knew whatever her secret she was keeping, but she clearly didn't trust him enough to tell him the truth. That's why he was upset, that's what was hurting him; he has grown to care for her, more than he would care to admit, but she didn't seem to care as much as him. "You know, maybe we should call the Feds. File a missing person's." Sam responds with a sigh and a shrug, "We've talked about this. Dad'd be pissed if we put the Feds on his tail." Dean gave his brother a pointed look who scoffed in annoyance. "I don't care anymore." Sam snaps, as Dean's cellphone starts to ring. He moves across the room to answer it, "After all that happened back in Kansas, I mean...he should've been there, Dean. You said so yourself. You tried to call him and...nothing." Sam grumbles out in anger, "I know!" He rummages through his duffel. "Where the hell is my cellphone?"
Maeve snorts lightly at his annoyed grumble, he could be so cute without even trying. "You know, he could be dead for all we know." Sam says, his own eyes watching his brother. "Don't say that! He's not dead! He's β he's..." Dean hesitated for a moment, "He's what? He's hiding? He's busy?" Sam questions with a scoff, Dean finds and flicks opens the cellphone. Maeve and Sam watch as he frowns for a moment before he scoffs quietly, "Huh. I don't believe it." He breaths out with a shake of his head. He really hated his father sometimes, not that he would ever admit that. "What?" Sam and Maeve ask together, "It's, uh...It's a text message. It's coordinates." He moves over to grab Sam's laptop and immediately starts typing. "You think Dad is texting us?" Sam asks as he leans over his brother's shoulder. "He's given us coordinates before." Dean hints with a sigh, "The man can barely work a toaster, Dean." Sam snaps towards his brother with a glare.
"Sam, it's good news! It means he's okay, or alive at least." Medusa frowns as she watches Dean fall back into his soldier roll for his father. "Well, was there a number on the caller ID?" She speaks up, finally gaining their attention as Dean gives her a shake of his head with a sigh. "Nah, it said 'unknown'." He responded to her, "Well, where do the coordinates point?" Sam asks with a raised eyebrow towards his brother. "That's the interesting part. Rockford, Illinois." Sam and Maeve shot one another a look, why was it interesting? "Ok, and that's interesting how?" Sam finally speaks up with a raised brow. "I checked the local Rockford paper. Take a look at this." Dean moves over to them with his laptop, "This cop, Walter Kelly, comes home from his shift, shot his wife, then puts the gun in his mouth, blows his brains out. And earlier that night, Kelly and his partner responded to a call at the Roosevelt Asylum."
"Okay, I'm not following. What has this have to do with us?" Sam asked, raising a brow at his brother as Maeve fell backwards on the bed. "Dad earmarked the same asylum in the journal. Let's see... Here. Seven unconfirmed sightings, two deaths β till last week at least. I think this is where he wants us to go." Sam snorts with a small shake of his head. "This is a job... Dad wants us to work a job." Maeve sighs as she gets up and goes to start packing her bag. "Well, maybe we'll meet up with him? Maybe he's there?" Dean shrugs with a small wince at Sam's look. "Maybe he's not? I mean, he could be sending us there, by ourselves, to hunt this thing." Dean scoffs with a shake of his head. "Who cares! If he wants us there, it's good enough for me!" Dean snaps as he starts packing his shit as well. "This doesn't strike you as weird? The texting? The coordinates?"
"Sam! Dad's tellin' us to go somewhere, we're goin'." Sam makes a bitchface and sighs.
ππππππππ
π΄ππππ πππ πΊππ πππππ Dean head towards a cop, drinking his sorrows away. "Are you sure this is a good idea?" Sam asked Maeve who gives him a small smile in reassurance. "Yeah, just do your part too, ok." She gave Sam a smirk and quickly brought her lips to the beer she held. "So, you gonna tell him soon?" Sam asked gently as they watched Dean get a little rough with the man. "Soon, I'm gonna tell him that I'm supernatural before getting into the whole I'm a snake monster bit." Maeve grumbled out, Sam shook his head with a sigh. "You're not a monster, in every lore, myth and legend I've looked up on you; you were the one that was wronged." She teared up with a small laugh and shake of her head. "You have to much faith in me, Sam Winchester." There was a small pause, "Your up." She pats Sam on the shoulder as he stood up to go help the poor cop out. Sam pushes Dean aside roughly, Maeve snorts into her beer as she looks away. Dean was so going to have a bitch fit about that, "Hey buddy, why don't you leave the poor guy alone! The man's an officer! Why dontcha show a little respect!" Dean pauses, staring, then walks off. He waits a few moments before making a beeline back towards Maeve who was already smirking at him.
"Don't even start, sweetheart." He points at her with a glare, she laughs. "I didn't say anything." She held her hand up, her eyes shining happily towards her boyfriend who rolls his eyes. "You didn't have too, smartass." She hummed as he threw money on the table and stood up. Dean held out his hand for her, she blushed at the gentle look on his face as he pulls her up. Together, they head outside, "Dean. I have to tell you something." Maeve speaks up as they come to a stop in front of the impala. Dean pauses, his head turning to face his girlfriend who he had never seen look so scared. He sighs, deciding to rip the bandaid off, "I know." She froze, her face paling considerably. "What?" She breaths out, Dean clears his throat and shrugs. "I know you're something supernatural, I'm a hunter, sweetheart. Wasn't hard to figure out." She backed away from him with a sad look on her face, "I guess that means this is it. You gonna kill me?" Not like he could, she thought. Dean scoffs with a shake of his head as he moves to pull her closer. "Look, you've been with us for six months now. You've save our asses more than I can count, Sam loves you and I've grown to care for you as well. You're clearly a hunter, supernatural or not." Dean explains gently as she watches him in confusion.
"I don't understand, you should hate me. For lying and for being a Mon..." He shakes his head as he grabs her hands tightly, "No. You're not a monster. When I hunt, I feel it; every bone in my body knows when I hunt a creature. You don't give me that feeling and honestly I don't think I could ever bring myself to hunt you." She lets out a sob, as he quickly pulls her into his chest. The world seeming to stand still as they stood together, "I wouldn't be so sure." She whispers into his chest, he heard her, but still pulls her even closer. He wouldn't hunt her. Ever. "I won't ask what you are, since I know it's nothing like I've ever seen beforehand, but when you're ready. I will be too." She quickly wiped her tears and smiled at her lover. "Thank you, Dean Winchester." She breaths out as he pulls her into a kiss. They continue to make out for a while longer until Sam walks out of the bar.
Dean and Maeve are sitting on Impala, having pulled away from one another as they listened to Sam walk up. "Shoved me kinda hard in there, buddy boy." Dean grunts out towards Sam as he held Maeve, she was sitting between his legs on the hood. "I had to sell it, didn't I? It's method acting." Sam smirks as he looks between them with a shrug of his shoulders. "Huh?" Dean frowns at his brother's face, "Never mind. Glad you two made up." Maeve blushed as Dean helped her off the hood of the impala, his hands trying to wonder. "What'd you find out from Gunderson?" Dean asks, letting out a happy noise as Maeve leans into his body. For a split second he buries his face in her neck, before looking back up to his brother. "So, Walter Kelly was a good cop. Head of his class, even-keeled, he had a bright future ahead of him."
"What about at home?" Maeve asked gently, "He and his wife had a few fights, like everybody, but he was mostly smooth sailing. They were even talking about having kids." Sam explained to the couple, "Alright, so either Kelly had some deep-seated crazy waiting to bust out, or something else did it to him." Dean suggested with a small sigh, his brows furrowing. "Right." Sam nods in confirmation, "What'd Gunderson tell you about the asylum?" Sam smirks at his brother's question. "A lot."
Thirty minutes later, the trio stand outside of the asylum. Maeve crosses her arms, turning to face her boyfriend. "I'm not climbing that." He just smirks at her, "Oh yes you are, sweetheart." He then moves to help her up and over the fence; making sure to enjoy what time he had with the view. "I'm going to kill you." She grunts out as she slips over the other side, picking up shoes that she had thrown over beforehand. Sam and Dean jump over the tall chain linked fence the incloses the asylum; quickly moving after her. "You love me, so you won't." He pecks her lips as he moves past her, she glares at his back grumbling under her breath the entire time. Sam shakes his head with a laugh at the couple, happy for them. "So apparently the cops chased the kids here...into the south wing." Sam indicates a sign over one door. "South wing, huh? Wait a second." Dean brings out John's journal and flips through it. "1972. Three kids broke into the south wing, only one survived. Way he tells it, one of his friends went nuts and started lighting up the place."
"So whatever's going on, the south wing is the heart of it." Maeve points out, her eyes scanning the area with the boys. They all had flashlights within their hands, "But if the kids are spelunking the asylum, why aren't there a ton more deaths?" Sam asks looking around, He notes the broken chain. "Looks like the doors are usually chained. Could've been chained up for years." He points out to Maeve and Dean who nod in response. "Yeah, to keep people out. Or to keep something in." They look at each other, then Sam slowly pushes the door open. They continue to walk down a hallway, Maeve shivers lightly when a spirit brushes past her. "Let me know if you see any dead people, Haley Joel." Dean speaks up, almost coincidentally at the same time. Maeve looks towards him with wide eyes, but he was talking about Sam. "Dude, enough." Sam snips back with a bitchface.
"I'm serious. You gotta be careful, all right? Ghosts are attracted to that whole ESP thing you got going on." Maeve couldn't help but laugh at the look on Sam's face, his frown pulled up in annoyance towards his brother. "I told you, it's not ESP! I just have strange vibes sometimes. Weird dreams." Sam grunts out, "Sam isn't the only one, I've got ESP too or whatever you want to call it." Maeve speaks up, both brothers freezing at her words. They turn to face her and she shrugs with a small smile, "It took me a while, but I got used to it. Like, just earlier one passed through me." They continue to watch her as she closes her eyes and lets her body relax, a calming sensation passing through them. "It wasn't evil, but there is an evil one here and it definitely doesn't like us here either." Sam smiles gently at her, happy she was able to talk a little bit about her powers. Dean, watches in wonder, he really wanted to get to know her even better.
"Yeah, whatever. Don't ask, don't tell." Dean grumbles out with a pout as she gives him a small smile. She was clearly still hesitant on letting him in with her whole supernatural thing she has going on. "You get any reading on that thing or not?" Sam asks, his finger pointing towards the EMF, that clearly wasn't working. "Nope. Of course, it doesn't mean no one's home according to Maeve." Dean smirks at his girlfriend who rolls her eyes with a laugh. She moves forward, "Right, here you go. Sorry about that." With a gentle touch, the EMF reader suddenly comes to life. "I turned it off before we came it, wanted to feel the place out first." She grins, moving around the brothers to continue forwards both watching her with wide eyes. "Awesome." Dean breaths out, quickly shutting it off and heading after her as Sam laughs with a scoff. "Show off."
"Spirits can't appear during certain hours of the day. Only a few are around right now." Maeve explains as they continue looking around, the brothers staying close behind. "Yeah, the freaks come out at night." Dean mutters, his eyes scanning Maeve with a certain glint in his eyes. "Yeah." Sam grunts out with a disgusted look towards his brother who responds with a deadpan look. "Hey Sam, who do you think is the hotter psychic: Patricia Arquette, Jennifer Love Hewitt, or you?" Sam pushes Dean, who laughs. Maeve smiles at the brothers, shaking her head at her boyfriend's dorky self as they continue onwards. They enter another room, Maeve and the boys look around. Dean whistles, "Man. Electro-shock. Lobotomies. They did some twisted stuff to these people." He makes crazy eyes and grins at Sam who ignores him and Dean's smile drops. They look around some more, "So. Whaddaya think? Ghosts possessing people?" Dean asks, Maeve hums gently as she shrugs her shoulders. "Maybe. Or maybe it's more like Amityville, or the Smurl hunting." Sam replies, with a nod.
"Spirits driving them insane. Kinda like my man Jack in 'Coocoo's Nest.'" Dean grins, his face fallen into a confused look as Maeve stares him down with a frown. "I didn't really like him, scared me." Maeve responds, Dean's eyes widening in horror as he starts to pout again. "Dean." Sam starts before he could say anything to her, Dean looks at him. "When are we going to talk about it?" Sam asks, his glare pointed towards his brother. "Talk about what?" Dean asked, Maeve frowns as she bends down to examine something. "About the fact Dad's not here." Sam snips, "Oh. I see. How 'bout...never." Dean growls back in annoyance as he shoots a glare towards his brother. "I'm being serious, man. He sent us here..." Sam started with a sigh, "So am I, Sam. Look, he sent us here, he obviously wants us here. We'll pick up the search later." Maeve watches them, standing up and making her way around the room.
"It doesn't matter what he wants." Sam grunts back as they face one another, "See. That attitude? Right there?" Maeve turns to face them as Dean pauses and smirks, "That is why I always get the extra cookie." He speaks cockily, shooting Maeve a wink who laughs. "Dad could be in trouble, we should be looking for him. We deserve some answers, Dean. I mean, this is our family we're talking about." Sam insists, "I understand that, Sam, but he's given us an order." Maeve couldn't help but scoff along with Sam at his words. He really was a good little soldier, wasn't he? "So what, we gotta always follow Dad's orders?" Sam asks with a scoff, his eyes squinting into a glare. "Of course we do." Sam gives Dean a frustrated face. Dean stares at him then turns away, ending the conversation. He moves around, poking around and picking up a sign that reads, 'Sanford, Ellicott'... "You know what we gotta do. We gotta find out more about the south wing. See if something happened here."
Dean walks away, leaving the sign with Sam, who stares down at it with a bitchface. Maeve gives Sam a small pat on the shoulder, "We'll get there, Sam. Come on." Maeve follows after Dean, Sam groans lightly as he too follows after. He had a feeling, she would be taking his side in a lot of future conversations.
ππππππππ
"πΊπ, πππ πππππ ππ your sexy ass body give you special powers?" Dean asks Maeve as they sit together in the waiting room; waiting for Sam to come out. She lets out a small laugh, "No, they unlock my powers; by using this pen, I can burn them off and use the powers I had been given a long time ago." She explained to him, handing him her pen; trusting him with it. He examines it for a moment with a small hum, "So, you're like a superhero." He grins at her teasingly, she shakes her head with a small forced smile. "No, I wasn't born with these powers. In fact, I never wanted them. They were given to me, a curse put on my life as punishment for a sin I didn't commit." Dean listens to her, his eyes turning dark. "So, these powers hurt you?" He asks her, she gives him a small nod. "Then why use them?" He asked again, she sighs. "I wasn't. I haven't. For a long time I could barely even look at the runes, reminders of what I was. When I was cursed, I spent years running and fighting against many dangers; using these powers within me and every time I did; they would take a part of me." She explained gently, her eyes tearing up as Dean gripped her hands.
"I'm a monster, and I will never change; but when I was given a chance to put down my sword and live my life. I took it. I don't regret it, the man who helped me; gave me a life. I owe him, but that's all I want to say for now if you don't mind." She breaths out, Dean nods in understanding. He wipes away one of the tears that slid down her cheek, before he clears his throat. "Exactly how old are you?" He asked, his face pulling into a wince at the look on hers. "Do you really want to know?" She asked, raised a brow and causing him to laugh awkwardly. "I'm kinda scared now, but yeah. I want to know everything about you." She sighs and gives him a small kiss, "To be honest, I don't remember. I think somewhere around one thousand and a hundred forty five." He let out a breath as he leans against glass windows next to the door, looking shocked. "Wow, I mean; I've always had a small thing for older women." She winces, "I understand if you..." He raises his hand to interrupt her.
"Hey, don't even. I told you. I want this and I'm not giving up without a fight. So don't even." She laughs as he pulls her into a kiss, "You really are something, Dean." She speaks gently against his lips as her hand trails down his cheek. He closes his eyes and leans in with a peaceful look on his face, "I'll take that as a compliment." The pair give each other another kiss as Sam walks past. Dean notices and pulls his girlfriend up after his brother; matching his pace. "Dude! You were in there forever. What the hell were you talking about?" Dean asks his brother, raising a brow in curiosity. "Just the hospital, you know." Sam states, a small pause in his words causing Dean and Maeve to raise a brow at him. "And...?" Dean drags the word out with a small smirk, "And the south wing? It's where the housed the really hard cases. The psychotics, the criminally insane." Maeve scoffs lightly, "Sounds cozy." She mutters out dryly. "Yeah. And one night in '64, they rioted, attacked staff, attacked each other."
"So the patients took over the asylum?" Maeve asked, nodding gently with her own words. It would explain the other feeling she had within the hospital, "Apparently." Sam sighs and nods, "Any deaths?" Dean asked. "Some patients, some staff. I guess it was pretty gory. Some of the bodies were never even recovered, including our chief of staff, Ellicott." Sam explains with a smile, his confidence high at the discovery he made. "Whaddaya mean, never recovered?" Dean asks with a frown of confusion, "Cops scoured every inch of the place but I guess the patients must've...stuffed the bodies somewhere hidden." Sam explained to his brother and his bestfriend. "That's grim." Maeve and Dean grunted out together, both of their faces turned down in grimaces. "Yeah. So, they transfered all the remaining patients and closed the hospital down." Sam responded, "So, to sum it up, we've got a bunch of violent deaths and a bunch of unrecovered bodies."
"And a bunch of angry spirits."
"Good times. Let's check out the hospital tonight."
ππππππππ
π³ππππ ππππ πππππ, outside the entrance, Sam pushes open the door, Dean and Maeve standing beside him. Sam is holding a video camera and flashlight, Dean an EMF meter. Maeve is holding a shotgun with a flashlight, just in case they come in contact with any mean spirits. "Getting readings?" Sam asked, looking between his brother and Maeve who both gave nods in response. "Yeah, big time." Dean breaths out, "This place is orbing like crazy." Sam gestures towards his camera as Maeve nods at their words. "There are multiple spirits out and about." She says with a small sigh, she really wanted to turn it off for now. The feeling of so many people, really bothered her but she didn't want to disappoint her boys. "And if these uncovered bodies are causing the haunting..." Sam starts off, his eyes scanning the area. "We gotta find 'em and burn 'em. Just be careful though. The only thing that makes me more nervous than a pissed off spirit... is the pissed off spirit of a psycho killer." They keep walking, looking around before they move into separate rooms.
After a minute, Sam sees an old woman through the video lens; white haired, one eye bloody and hanging out, moving toward him. "Dean? Maeve? Dean!" Maeve and Dean run into the room, rummaging in his bag at the same time as Maeve points her gun. "Shotgun!" She shouts, "Sam, get down!" Sam throws himself on the ground, Maeve shoots the woman out of instinct. She disintegrates and they all look around, gasping. "That was weird." Sam breaths out in confusion as he slowly moves to stand up. "Yeah. You're telling me." Dean starts moving out of the room, Maeve and Sam follow after him. Dean has taken the gun from Maeve, giving her a small kiss on her forehead as he did. "No, Dean, I mean it was weird that she didn't attack me." Maeve frowns at Sam's words, he had a point. "Looked pretty aggro from where I was standing." Dean grunts out with a huff as he turns to face his brother. "She didn't hurt me. She didn't even try! So if she didn't wanna hurt me then what did she want?"
A noise comes from a room they are passing. Dean immediately raises his shotgun, Maeve grabs her crowbar, pulling it out. Sam flicks on the torch and shines it into the room. They approach a metal bed covered in a ragged sheet, on its side. They see the top of a blonde head behind it, they brace themselves. Sam reaches out and tips the bed over, a girl is crouched facing the corner. She spins around, terrified and gasping. "It's alright, we're not going to hurt you. It's okay. What's your name?" Medusa speaks up as she moves closer to the girl, who immediately responds in relief towards another woman. "Katherine. Kat." The woman speaks with a small sigh of relief. "Okay. I'm Maeve, this is my boyfriend Dean, and this is his brother Sam." She introduces herself and the brothers to the woman. "What are you doing here!?" Sam asks with an annoyed frown on his face, "Um. My boyfriend, Gavin." Kat stutters out as Maeve elbows Sam in the side.
"Is he here?" Dean asks, "Somewhere. He thought it would be fun, try and see some ghosts. I thought it was all just...you know. Pretend. I've seen things. I heard Gavin scream and..." Kat explains with dried tears on her face, Dean shoots Maeve and Sam an annoyed look. "Alright. Kat? Come on. Sam's gunna get you out of here and then we're gunna find your boyfriend." Dean insists with a small fake smile, as Kat shakes her head, grabbing onto Maeve's arm. "No! No. I'm not going to leave without Gavin. I'm coming with you." She speaks up in determination as she pulls herself closer to Maeve. "It's no joke around here, okay. It's dangerous." Dean grunts out, his eyebrows raising at the sight of the blonde hanging on his woman. "That's why I gotta find him." Dean and Sam look at each other, then towards Maeve who shrugs. "Alright, I guess we gunna split up then. Let's go."
Dean and Sam leave together, Dean hesitated when Maeve insisted that Kat and her go another way as him and his brother. "She'll be fine, Dean." Sam starts as his shines a light within an empty room. Dean grunts with a sour look on his face, "Gavin... Gavin?" He calls out, ignoring his brother's words. Down another hall a little further away, Maeve and Kat move along. "Gavin... Gavin?" Kat calls out as well, "I got a question for ya. You've seen a lot of horror movies, yeah?" Medusa asks with a small smirk on her face as she shoots Kat a look. "I guess so." Maeve paused and turns to face her. "Do me a favor. Next time you see one? Pay attention. When someone says a place is haunted...don't go in!" As they move on, a dark shape moves across the inside of the window. Back with Sam and Dean, the longer haired brother sees Gavin on the ground unconscious and crouches to shake him. Gavin wakes and freaks out, Dean sighs with an eye roll at his dramatics. "Hey, Gavin. It's okay, We're here to help."
"Who are you?" Gavin asks as he looks between them, "My name is Sam, this is my brother Dean. Uh, we found your girlfriend." Sam explains as he introduces himself and his brother. "Kat?" Gavin asks as he moves to get up, "Is she alright?" His eyes widen with worry. "Yeah. She's worried about you. Are you okay?" Dean asks with a raised brow, looking at the guy with slight judgmental eyes. "I was running. I think I fell." Gavin frowns as he tries to remember what happened, "You were running from what?" The brothers asked together, "There was...there was this girl. Her face. It was all messed up." He gapped out in horror and disgust as he finally started to remember what happened before he blacked out. "Okay listen, did this girl... did she try and hurt you?" Sam asks, "What? No, she...uh..." He hesitates, looking between the two men with an awkward expression on his face. "She what?" Dean slowly insisted with a raised eyebrow.
"She...kissed me." Gavin grunts out in his own horror as Sam and Dean make faces at his words. "Uh...um...but...but she didn't hurt you, physically?" Dean asked slowly and awkwardly as he looks toward Sam who shrugs. "Dude! She kissed me. I'm scarred for life!" Gavin yells out in angst, "Well, trust me, it could have been worse. Now do you remember anything else?" Sam asks as he tries to change the subject. "She uh...actually, she tried to whisper something in my ear." Gavin stutters out slowly, "What?" Sam and Dean ask in unison. "I don't know. I ran like hell."
Medusa and Kat walked in another hallway, Medusa leading the way. The flashlight fades, causing her to scoff with a shake of her head as she starts shaking the flashlight. "Seriously." She grunts out, reaching into her pocket. "It's alright, Dean gave me a lighter. I told him I didn't need it but he insisted, such a worry wort." Maeve rambles on lightly causing Kat to smile at the woman. She could tell they were in love, Kat turns to look behind them. "Ow. You're hurting my arm." She hissed out in pain towards Maeve who frowns back at the blonde. "What are you talking about?" They turn to look at each other, realize they're too far apart to be touching, and look down. A disembodied hand is clutching Kat's arm. Kat is dragged into a room, the metal door slamming behind her. Maeve races to it and struggles to pull it open, Kat bangs on it from the inside but it doesn't budge. "Lemme out! Please!"
"Kat! Hang on! Dean! Sam!" Maeve calls out as she smashes at the door with a metal pipe, then tries to jimmy it open. Inside, Kat slowly backs up, looking at the door. Someone stands behind her, breathing heavily. When Kat spins around there is no one there, Maeve continues banging on the door. Kat turns again and sees the ghost; tall, heavyset, long dark oily hair, his face a bloody mess. Kat screams and backs up to the door...and backs into him, she screams again. Sam running down hall with Dean, followed by Gavin after they heard Maeve's scream. "What's going on? Are you ok, sweetheart?" Dean asks in worry as he checks Maeve over, she nods immediately. "She's inside with one of them." She explains with wide eyes.
Kat screams again, "Help me!" Her boyfriend, Gavin immediately panics as he pushes past Maeve and beats on the door. "Kat!" Inside, she is sliding down against the door as the ghost approaches. "Get me outta here!" She cries in fear, "Kat, it's not going to hurt you. Listen to me. You've got to face it. You've got to calm down." Dean turns to Sam, astonished. "She's gotta what?!" He asks in confusion, as Kat shout at the same time. "I have to what?!" She yelps in horror, "These spirits, they're not trying to hurt us, they're trying to communicate. You gotta face it. You gotta listen to it." Sam explains to everyone standing there. "You face it!" Kat snaps back through the door, Maeve snorts back a laugh despite the situation. "No! It's the only way to get out of there." Sam insists, "No!" She shouts back in horror and anger. "Look at it, come on. You can do it." Kat, taking deep breaths, turns to face the ghost. He leans in close to her face, "Kat?" Gavin speaks slowly as they all waited for her to respond.
"Man, I hope you're right about this." Dean grunts to Sam who slowly nodded back, "Yeah, me too." They wait outside the door in tense silence, the lock clicks and the door slowly opens. Kat is standing in the doorway with a scared look, "Oh, Kat." Sam goes inside to check out the room. He comes back out, shaking his head at Dean. "One thirty-seven." She utters out, Maeve frowns as she cocks her head to the side. "Sorry?" She questions with a raised eyebrow as they all watched Kat. "It whispered in my ear. 137." Sam and Dean speak in sync, "Room number." Sam, Maeve and Dean crouch against the wall where they can't be heard. "Alright. So if these spirits aren't trying to hurt anyone..." Sam whispers to the couple with a frown of confusion on his face. "Then what are they trying to do?" Maeve and Dean ask together, Dean smirking towards his girlfriend. He liked being on the same wavelength as her, made him feel more connected. She smiled back, she too liked being connected with him in that regard and more. "Maybe that's what they've been trying to tell us..."
"I guess we'll find out." Dean grunts out with a shrug, "Alright." Sam nods with a sigh as the trio stand up once more and face the couple. "So, now, are you guys ready to leave this place?" Dean asks, his face pulling into a small smile. "That's an understatement." Kat laughed in relief, "Okay." Dean turns to Sam, "You get them outta here. Maeve and I are going to go find room 137."

π΄ππππ πππ π«πππ ππππ down a hallway, Dean shines his torch on room 137. He pushes against the door, using his weight to push aside the broken furniture blocking it. Maeve follows behind as they search the room together which is a mess, filing cabinets pushed over, papers everywhere, the walls stained. He shines the torch around, flicks through some folders lying in a cabinet, keeps looking. Maeve moves to another side of the room and starts shifting through old drawers as Dean finds a loose panel and pries it off, behind it is a satchel full of papers. "This is why I get paid the big bucks." Maeve turns to face him at the sound of his voice, moving over to look over his shoulder. Inside is a journal with many notes and hand-drawn pictures of medical instruments. Dean pulls up a chair and starts reading, looking concerned. "Well, all work and no play makes Dr. Ellicott a verydull boy." Maeve grimaces just as a noise makes them look up quickly.
They make eye contact before moving to make their way towards it. A few moments later, they come around a corner only to let out shouts and duck out of the way as Kat shoots a shot from the shotgun in their direction. Dean who is crouching against the wall, looks towards Maeve quickly checking her over before yelling out in annoyance. "Damn it, damn it, don't shoot! It's us!" Dean shouts out in anger as he places his forehead against Maeve's who smiles in response. "Sorry! Sorry." Kat shouts back, "Son of a..." He sighs, standing up and pulling Maeve with her and they come round the corner; looking at the marks left in the wall. "What are you still doing here!? Where's Sam?" Maeve asks in confusion as she looks between the couple. "He went to the basement. You called him." Maeve and Dean make eye contact with one another in confusion. "I didn't call anybody." He breaths out, "His cell phone rang. He said it was you." Kat explains, her face pulled into confusion as well. "Basement, huh?" Dean starts looking around and grabbing some extra weapons. "Alright. Watch yourselves...and watch out for us!"
A few minutes later, the couple is looking around in the basement. "Sammy? Sam, you down here? Sam? Sam!" As they turn, Sam is standing right in front of him. Dean jumps back, automatically raising his shotgun. Maeve frowns at the look on his face, "Man, answer me when I'm calling you! You alright?" Dean asks as Sam slowly nods in response. "Yeah. I'm fine." Sam gives a fake small smile, "You know it wasn't me who called your cell, right?" Dean asked, eyeing his brother after noticing Maeve's look and the fact that she moved away from Sam. "Yeah, I know. I think something lured me down here." Sam replies with a nod of his head, he goes to move towards Maeve but she moves away. "I think I know who. Dr. Ellicott. That's what the spirits have been trying to tell us. You haven't seen him, have you?" Dean asks his brother, raising a brow as he observes the scene. "No. How do you know it was him?" Sam asks, cocking his head to the side. "'Cause I found his log book. Apparently he was experimenting on his patients, awful stuff. Makes lobotomies look like a coupla aspirin."
"But it was the patients who rioted." Sam insists, "Yeah. They were rioting against Dr. Ellicott. Dr. Feelgood was working on some sort of, like, extreme rage therapy. He thought that if he could get his patients to vent their anger then they would be cured of it. Instead it only made them worse and worse and angrier and angrier. So I'm thinking, what if his spirit is doing the Same thing? To the cop? To the kids in the seventies, making them so angry they become homicidal... Come on, we gotta find his bones and torch 'em." Maeve explains to the brothers, Dean nodding in agreement as Sam frowns with a shake of his head and a scoff. "How? The police never found his body." Sam replies, glaring towards Maeve who looks towards Dean. "The log book said he had some sort of hidden procedure room down here somewhere where he'd work on his patients. So, if I was a patient I'd drag his ass down here, do a little work on it myself."
"I don't know, it sounds kinda..." Sam hesitates as he tries to take the attention off the doctor and on the patients. "Crazy?" Maeve asks, "Yeah." Sam laughs in agreement, thinking he had gotten them off the trail. He was wrong. "Yeah. Exactly." Dean opens another door, looks inside, then gestures with his head for Sam to follow. Sam gives Dean a stealthy, sly look; the trio enter the room. "I told you I looked everywhere. I didn't find a hidden room." Sam insisted with a dark look on his face. "Well, that's why they call it hidden..." Maeve and Dean pause when they hear a wind like noise, "You hear that?" Dean asks Maeve who immediately nods in response.
"What?" Dean makes eye contact with Maeve before looking around, crouching and holding his hand out. "There's a door here." He calls out to her, Sam sighs, pointing his gun at Dean. "Dean." A trickle of blood runs from his nose. "Step back from the door." Dean slowly rises to his feet, his eyes going from the gun to Sam's face. "Sam, put the gun down." Maeve speaks up, Sam glares towards her. "Is that an order?" He asks with a mocking voice, "Nah, it's more of a friendly request." Sam scoffs, raising his gun to point at Dean's chest as Maeve watches with a frown. "'Cause I'm getting pretty tired of taking your orders." Sam hissed towards his brother with a glare, "I knew it. Ellicott did something to you." Dean breathes out with a scoff, "For once in your life, just shut your mouth." Sam snapped in annoyance, his eyes rolling at his brother. "What are you gunna do, Sam? Gun's filled with rock salt. It's not gunna kill us." Sam shoots Dean in the chest, his aim quickly turning on Maeve and shooting her too. The shot blasts them backwards through the hidden door to fall on the floor. "No. But it will hurt like hell."

π«πππ πππ π΄ππππ lie on the floor, coming to and gasping for breath. "Sam!" Maeve shouts, her head pounding as blood trickled down the side of it. Her eyes were blurred as she rolled on her side to see Sam standing over him. "We gotta burn Ellicott's bones and all this will be over, and you'll be back to normal." Dean grunts out as Maeve slowly starts to move towards a plank she spotted on the floor. "I am normal. I'm just telling the truth for the first time. I mean, why are we even here? 'Cause you're following Dad's orders like a good little solider? Because you always do what he says without question? Are you that desperate for his approval?" Sam hisses down at his brother with a disgusted look on his face. "This isn't you talking, Sam." Dean says, keeping Sam's attention on him as Maeve moves around behind them. "That's the difference between you and me. I have a mind of my own. I'm not pathetic, like you."
"So what are you gunna do, huh? Are you gunna kill me?" Dean asked with a scoff and a small laugh. "You know what, I am sick of doing what you tell me to do. We're no closer to finding Dad today than we were six months ago." Sam snarls at his brother with a glare on his face before pointing his gun at Dean's face. "You hate me that much? You think you could kill your own brother? Then go ahead. Pull the trigger. Do it!" Sam pulls the trigger, the chamber is empty; he tries again, and once more. As he stands there in distraction, Maeve comes up behind him and smacks him upside the head with the wooden plank she had found. Dean groans as he moves to stand over Sam with Maeve. "Man, I'm not going to give you a loaded pistol!" Sam stares up at couple with blurred eyes as Dean delivers a vicious right cross to knock Sam out, almost falling as he does so. He then pats his brother on the chest, "Sorry, Sammy."
Dean begins looking around the room, pushing back ragged curtains with his pistol. Maeve sees a tuft of something poking out of the corner of a closed cupboard and moves closer. She opens the door to find a mummified corpse and flinches back from the smell, gagging. "Oh, that's just gross." She grunts out as Dean snorts at her before moving to help her salt the body. "Soak it up." Dean drops the salt container and grabs a small tin of kerosene, squirting the body. A gurney comes flying across the room and knocks him to the ground. "Dean!" Maeve shouts as Dr. Ellicott grabs her face with his nasty hands that light up. She grunts out in pain as he starts to burn her, "You son of a bitch!" She brings up her legs and kicks off his chest causing him to go flying back. He looks shocked for a moment, she just smirks in response. "You know how to touch others, it goes both ways, Doctor." Dean struggles to reach his bag with one hand, finds his lighter, flicks it on and tosses it at the mummified body.
Dr. Ellicott who had started towards Maeve again, froze as Dean crawls out of the way and watches the ghost turns black and falls to the ground, crumbling on impact. Maeve lets out a small breath as she turns towards Dean, quickly moving to help him up. Sam wakes up and Dean looks over at him as he flexes his jaw painfully. "You're not going to try and kill me, are ya?" Sam groans, raising his hand to push at his jaw. "No." Dean chuckles lowly with a small nod as he looks towards his lady. "Good. Because that would be awkward." She breaths out, both of them moving to help Sam up as well.
An hour later, Dawn is breaking as the trio and the couple stand outside of the asylum. All of them battered and exhausted, "Thanks, guys." Kat breaths out as she turns to them with a smile, "Yeah. Thanks." Gavin speaks up as well with a clear of his throat. "No more haunted asylums, okay?" They watch Gavin and Kat walk toward their car, then turn to the Impala. "Hey, Dean?" Dean turns to look at him, "I'm sorry, man. I said some awful things back there." Sam hesitates slowly looking between Maeve and Dean. "You remember all that?" Dean asks, grunting as he moves with a wince. "Yeah. It's like I couldn't control it. But I didn't mean it, any of it." Sam explains to his brother and Maeve who give one another looks. "You didn't, huh?" Dean murmurs sarcastically, "No, of course not! Do we need to talk about this?" Dean shakes his head, moving to get in the Impala. "No. I'm not really in the sharing and caring kinda mood. I just wanna cuddle with my girl and get some sleep." He slips into the backseat to pull Maeve into his arms. She smiles gently as he pulls her on top of his chest, holding her close as Sam gets in the driver seat and puts the impala in drive.
The trio on the road again.
