It was a seemingly normal day at a normal gas station where Verdona was filling up the Rustbucket. That is until a pair of crooks barge past her. They attach a hook from their truck to an ATM. They attempt to pull it out of the wall by throwing the truck in reverse, only it doesn't budge. They pull and pull but nothing. Exiting the truck they investigate the machine. Only as they do so a pair of blue tendrils with pink patterns on them jut out of them and wrap around the thugs to their shock. The ATM itself becomes a dark blue with pink circuits. "I don't think so!" A girl's voice comes out as electricity glows from the tendrils, electrocuting and downing the thugs.
"Good job hun!" Verdona calls as she approaches clapping.
The blue blob splurged out off the ATM until it reformed to it's base humanoid form. It was a large blobby being with large hands and a third back leg. Its base color appeared to be light blue, with dark blue coating its feet, the back of its hands, its chest, and shoulders up its face, which it's self had a protrusion at the back with light blue on the underside. Pink circuits appear across the dark blue parts of her body and palms. Where eyes would normally be there is instead pink lines with two circular circuit patterns. The watch's badge was placed on her chest with two pink lines pointing to them.
"Alright, Grandma what's next?" Gwen asked as she stretched her new form, her voice sounding like her normal voice put through a filter.
"Next? Next, we're going to your Great Uncle's house!"
The Rustbucket finally enters Vera's retirement village. It drives past old folks' homes and some people out on the sidewalk. Eventually, the Rustbucket pulled into a rather quiet-looking neighborhood, old folk lining the sidewalks as they went about their days. However, the moment was ruined by Ben's incessant scribbling as he worked away on his summer school work drew Gwen's attention. However just as he looked back to the window she swore she saw an old man leap off his roof and land safely, tho she had gotten a good look. Eventually, the RV pulled up to a small but nice-looking house. Stepping out, Ben shielded his eyes with his summer work. "Seriously, why do old people have to live where it's soooo hot!" Seemingly answering his prayers, Gwen tossed a water bottle into the back of Ben's head, nearly knocking the homework out of his hand. Unable to retaliate as Gwen ran towards the door giggling, Ben annoyedly picked up the bottle as he murmured to himself.
However as Gwen sprinted away she took the chance to look around the neighborhood, and as she did so she saw a short older woman staring at them through their window. Seeing the woman, Gwen waved, only for the woman to shut the blinds rather rudely. Tho Gwen decided not to take it too harshly. Turning her attention back to her grandma, she watched as the door opened. Opening the door was an older man, younger than Verdona but older than their parents. He had dark grey hair combed back, a neat white beard, and glasses. He wore a blue button-up with blue jeans and a white cardigan. This, was their Great Uncle Phil.
"Phil!" Verdona cheered as she hugged her brother.
Phil returned the hug with a cheer of "Verdona!" He then fixed his glasses as he turned his attention to his two young guests. "Well, I'll be, if it ain't my not-so-little grand niece and grand nephew!" Phil boasted as he ruffled the duo's hair much to their combined amusement and embarrassment. Turning to walk back in Phil motioned for them to follow. "Well come on in! Ain't paying to cool the outside." Walking in Ben and Gwen found themselves fascinated as they came across all sorts of gizmos and hand-built machinery littering the counters. "Sorry for the mess, been keeping busy and forgot to tidy up. Give me a moment and I'll order us some grub." Ben and Gwen blanched, unsure if the word choice was literal.
Until then though, they walked around looking at all of Phil's nick-nacks and trinkets. Eventually one of these trinkets caught Ben's eye. It was a small box with a few buttons on its front and a pair of antennae on top. "O,h what's this?" Ben questioned as he held it in his hand, bringing it over to Gwen who looked at it curiously.
"Oh, that's just a little battery pack I've been tinkering with." Phil boasted as approached the duo. He then pressed a button on the side causing the pack to spring to life as electricity surged through its attenie. Ben and Gwen ohed at the trinket as Gwen reached over to grab it. However, as she did a small surge of electricity sprung from the trinket and zapped the watch. In response the watch sprung to life, letting out a flurry of beeps as the core popped up and down and twist and turned.
"Opps seems to have set off an alarm on that there watch." Appoligized Phil as he placed the trinket down, "Here let me fix it." He offered as he reached for Gwen's watch.
Nearly panicking Gwen held the watch close, "Oh no, I-I, know how to fix it. Uhm while I do that, do you know where the bathroom is?" Gwen asked stiffly. Thankfully Phil points the way, allowing Gwen to awkwardly scamper to the restroom, locking the door as she turns to the watch. "Come on shut off shut off!" Gwen quietly yelled at the watch as she twisted and turned the dial, pressing the button on the side, hoping something would work to no avail. Eventually, though her absence must have been noticed as she heard a knock on the door.
"Everything alright in there kiddo?" She heard her great-uncle call from the other side of the door.
Panicking, Gwen frantically tried to fix the watch. "Yeah, don't worry; everything's just—" Trying to stop the watch, Gwen frantically forced the faceplate down, causing a transformation.
Transformation
Gwen's skin became paper-thin as her eyes became large and boibous, white markings tracing around her face as saif face began to sage and inflate. Eventually, her face engulfed her body as it began to morph into a white and blue jellyfish-like alien.
When all was said and done she floated as a small white and blue jelly fish like alien with six tentacles with bulbous black eyes with cyan slits. The omnitric sat on her face where her mouth should be.
"-Fine… Ahhhh, no no.!" Gwen finished, her voice now high-pitched and and slightly raspy. Staring at herself in the bathroom's mirror she studied her now 2-foot-tall floating form. Luckily as she silently freaked out she heard Phil walk away, allowing her to think aloud.
"Ok, Gwendolyn calm down. You're fine you're just.. Uh… what did Ben name this one? Em-Amp-Amphibian? Ampfibian!" She gazed at her tendrils, "Ok, ok, let's see, according to our test, Ampfibian can fly, swim, shoot out bolts of electricity, and…travel through electric currents!" Looking around, her attention was brought to a nearby outlet. "Well, here goes nothing." Jabbing one of her tendrils at the outlet she tried to focus on the electric flow of the currents in the wiring, and with some effort, her body began to glow a bright blue before turning into an electric form as she flew into the outlet.
Back out in the living room, Ben sat and fiddled with a suped-up radio Phil had been working, when suddenly some strange static began to form. Continuing to turn the dials of the radio, a voice came through, "B-Be-Ben!" Suddenly the radio's face began to glow slightly before Ampfiibian came flying out. "Doofus!" The tinny alien yelled, annoyance clear in her tone.
'Dweeb? What happened?" Ben yelped as he stared at the floating creature.
"Shh, is Phil out here?" She inquired as she floated close to Ben so as to not be seen by anyone else.
"No, he went to show Grandma something."
Visibly relaxing Gwen backed away and took a breath before explaining, "Ok look, when the watch started acting up I accidentally turned myself into… this. I can't stay here and risk being seen by Uncle Phil. Can you cover for me?"
"Uh, sure I guess. What do you need?"
"Just wait for an opening and when it could be believable tell him I went off to do something." Gwen explained as she started floating back to the radio.
"Do something? Do what?"
"I don't know! Just think of something!" She ordered, frustration clear in her pitched voice. Before they could continue tho they were interrupted by the sound of approaching footsteps. Not risking being caught by Phil, Gwen zapped back into the radio and rode her way through the wire, leaving behind a baffled Ben.
Outside the house, Gwen zapped out of the electrical box. "Well, since I'm already out here I might as well bide the time while I wait to time out…" Noticing some nearby telephone wires she zapped over to them, using them to traverse the neighborhood unseen.
She spends her time traversing the wires, occasionally popping out to look around. After a while, she spotted a very exciting sight, "Apple pie!" She flew down from the pole and to a freshly baked pie sitting at a windowsill. However, as she investigated the pie she looked into the house. Inside she watched as an older fellow attempted to swat at a fly, only to miss repeatedly as the fly flew from out of reach. It would have been an amusing sight, had said old man not then sprung into the air, landed on the ceiling, and ate the fly himself.
"What the hey!" Gwen yelled as she held back the need to hurl. She quickly flew away, no longer interested in the pie. However, as she did so she saw Phil's neighbor emerge from her house and begin driving away in a golf cart, rug in hand. Curious, and wanting to distract herself from the fly eating, Gwen opted to follow. Eventually, the neighbor came to a gated off-dumpster site. They left the cart, rug in hand, and to Gwen's surprise, their legs stretched till they were able to step over the gate. They then approached a dumpster and pushed to the side, revealing a trapdoor. However just before Gwen could see what they were doing she was met with a BEP BEP BWOP and transformed back right then and there. The word neighbor's head whips the background, their body not turning, a predatory glare leveled at Gwen. They're body finally turn around to match their head as let out an inhuman roar and begin charging at her, leaping back over the gate with ease as Gwen scampers away. Gwen yelps in fright as she hops into the same cart the neighbor had used. She speeds away, only to her shock find the neighbor nearly matching the speed by foot. They then extend their arms forward, managing to latch onto the back supports of the cart roof. As the neighbor begins pulling the cart back to her Gwen continues to lay on the gas, to no avail. However, it was then that she noticed a set of golf clubs in the cart. Taking one out she mustered all her strength and with a determined "Hiyah!" swung the club at the arms, slicing through them like gelatin. No longer being held back, the cart speeds ahead, and looking back Gwen sees not a trace of the neighbor. Believing them dead or gone she speeds along, only to be proven mistaken as she hears a thump on the cart's roof. The neighbor's head suddenly pokes out bellow as they let out a terrifying hiss. Gwen in shock and fear causes the cart to swerve hard, causing it to capsize. With a daze, Gwen steadily climbs out of the cart. Looking around she spots the neighbor lying on the ground absolutely mangled. It was a gruesome sight and for a moment guilt panged in Gwen's stomach, fearing what she'd just done. But she could only be so fortunate. The neighbor stumbled to their feet, their body shifting and snapping into place. Like a zombie, she lumbers for Gwen, and in her panic, Gwen stumbles and lands flat on her back. But just when all seemed lost, the sprinkling system started. To Gwen's shock as even just that little bit of water hit them they screamed in pain and panic, running away, Gwen forgotten as she lay in confusion and relief. "What."
At sundown, Gwen finally gets back to Phil's. She rushes to Ben and Verdona in the kitchen. Chowing on pizza as Ben sifted through his schoolwork. "Grandma!" She cried as she burst through the door.
"Shhh, your Uncle Phil's in bed!" Verdona hushed firmly.
"Really? The folks at the retirement center went to bed early too, didn't realize it was an old people thing." Gwen gawked, remembering her time volunteering at a retirement center for an extracurricular.
"Well, I insisted after he said he'd been working on a project for a week straight with two hours of sleep a day. Plus I figured it'd keep him from asking about your flower scrapbook." Verdona explained
"Flower scrapbook?"
"Hey you wanted an alibi you got an alibi," Ben interjected defensively as he chowed down on a pizza slice.
"Nevermind. Listen, this whole place is way creepy. First, this old man ran up a wall - and then munched a fly! Then another neighbor, became bent and stretched like he was… well, an alien!"
"And you're sure you saw all that? Didn't hallucinate anything?" Verdona inquired, taking the claim seriously.
"Oh yeah, I totally hallucinated someone stretching their arms a yard long and holding a golf cart in place!" Gwen retorted defensively.
Sighing, Verdona motioned for Ben to stand, "Show where you saw what you claim and we'll see what we can find." She then walked out, motioning for Ben and Gwen to follow.
"You know, ever since you've had that watch, you're like a magnet for the weird." Ben snarked at Gwen with a glare.
"No kidding." Gwen sighed. However, a smirk quickly formed across her lips as she wound back her arm. She then swung the Omnitrix into the back of Ben's head, knocking him down
"I admit I walked into that."
They then investigated the house of the neighbor that attacked Gwen, only to find a standard old house, with the only discernibly out-of-place thing being the clear imprint of where a rug once was. They checked some other areas in the neighborhood but found nothing by the time it was nightfall. However, with nothing else of note, the Tennyson's resigned themselves to a night's rest, agreeing to continue investigating in the morning. "You two sleep well."Verdona said as she tucked an ever-anxious Gwen into bed, "I'll be in the guest room if you need me."
"But, Grandma-!" Gwen whined, not thrilled at the prospect of sleeping when those things were still out there.
"There's nothing more we can do tonight." Verdona soothed as she patted Gwen on the head. "I'm going for an early walk in the morning, but once I'm back, we'll check things out again. Now get some rest." She reassured as she stepped into the hall, closing the bedroom door behind her. However just as Verdona closed the door and Gwen closed her eyes to go to sleep, she could swear, for just a moment, she saw an amorphous form crawl across the floor.
The next morning, Ben sat at the kitchen counter while Gwen opened Phil's fridge to get a drink. "Prune juice, prune juice, and- oh, what a surprise -more prune juice." Gwen sighed in expected disappointment. Earning a humous look from Ben.
"Why does it seem old people were always old?" Ben snarked, earning a muffled giggle from Gwen. However, they were soon interrupted as their Great Uncle Phil entered the kitchen.
"Morning, Uncle Phil! Sorry, I walked out yesterday." Gwen apologized with a bow.
Phil for his part gave Gwen a confused look before turning to a kind-looking smile, "Oh it's just fine, hun." However, something about the way he held himself, and the way he talked seemed, wrong to the ever-absevent Gwen.
However, in hopes of making the previous day up to Phil, she grabbed a nearby tray of coffee and water and brought it over to her Uncle."I went ahead and made you some coffee!" She cheered.
Gwen brings her a tray with a mug of coffee and a glass of water, However, halfway there she trips and ends up spilling both the coffee and water onto the floor. Luckily no one got burnt by the coffee and neither the coffee mug nor the glass broke. However Phil's reaction would have you assuming otherwise, he jumped onto the table, with seeming ease, just barely missing Ben's papers as he grabbed them away. "CLEAN IT UP! CLEAN IT UP RIGHT NOW!" Phil barked, his kind voice now sounding almost monstrous to the kids.
"Sorry, I'm sorry!" Gwen cried in a mixture of fear, confusion, and hurt at the harsh tone. She quickly cleaned the mess and Phil hopped back down. He appeared to not register his strange behavior until after he caught the baffled expressions on the grandkids' faces.
Sorry, uh my profession has me very nervous around water." He explained half heartedly, tho it was clear that Ben and Gwen didn't fully buy it. Coughing, Phil attempted to change the subject, "Where did your grandmother go?"
"She said she was going for an early walk." Gwen replied, still in shock at the whole ordeal.
"I see…" Phil replied with an inquisitive tone. He then smiled before heading to the door. "Well, I'll go see if she's near, see if she needs a walking buddy." He then left, not bothering to wait for a response.
Baffled, Ben and Gwen looked at each other, "Those things you saw yesterday. They didn't happen to have a fear of coffee did they?" Ben half joked as he gave Ben a concerned look.
"Not of coffee…"
A few minutes after Phil left Ben and Gwen left too. They duck in and out of alleyways, hiding behind trash cans, and staying comically close to walls. "So, where we headed? Ben questioned as he looked around for seniors.
"The dumpster site." Gwen answered as she rolled over to a large tree. "There's a trapdoor underneath one of the dumpsters. Whatever these guys are doing it has to be in there!" They continued down to the back of a building, holding out an arm to stop Ben as they approached an alley.
"Is the food supply ready for transport?" She heard her Great Uncle's voice in the alley.
"The pods are in the final stages of gestation. What about the young ones?"
"Too chewy! They need to age more before they get nice and tender…"
"I'm not talking about eating! The gurl knows too much."
She and Ben looked at eachother, faces pale. Luckily though, they soon heard footsteps leaving the alley as the voices became quiet and distant. Steeling their nerves, the two continued, eventually finding the site just in the distance. "It's right over there!" Gwen cried in glee and relief. However as they sprinted for the site they came across two old inconspicuous ladies, innocently playing street curling. Only as they passed and glanced at the ladies their expressions turned monstrous with yellow fangs for teeth. They struck the pucks with such mighty force that they flew to the duo like bullets. "Duck!" Gwen cried as she just barely managed to roll under a puck.
"Run!" Ben cried as he sprinted forward, a puck whizzing just behind his head. They sprinted with all the strength their legs allowed, to the point that for a moment Gwen forgot she wasn't XLR8. However, the distance was still too great and the pucks just kept coming. With no other option, they ducked behind a corner, catching their breaths as they heard the pucks slow to a stop. They were about to muster the will to continue forward when a voice came from behind.
"Children? What's wrong?" They heard their grandma ask sweetly.
Blinded by relief and trust Gwen let her guard down, "Grandma!" she cried, half tempted to hug her, but she knew she had to stick with the plan. "You have to come with us! These alien guys are everywhere!"
Verdona chuckled as she hid her mouth in her hand, "Oh I know dear." She raided her head as she extended her arms, stretching them as her teeth were revealed to be fangs. "Don't worry. I'll protect you." She then let out a ferocious roar as she tried to swipe at them.
"Come On!" Ben yelled as grabbed Gwen's arm and pulled her away, knocking her out of her stupor as she raced forward. They race to the site only to find Phil and the other neighbors holding up a car above their heads. They hurl it at the duo, with Ben and Gwen just barely being able to jump out of the way. Fake Verdona though, wasn't so lucky. "Grandma!" Ben cried, forgetting for a moment that it wasn't really his grandma.
However to their relief and horror, Verdona is revealed to be in fact some strange slime creature that reassembles back into Verdona's shape, save for her right eye, which remains slimy and alien. Soon after Fakedona and the other seniors charge at Ben and Gwen. "Trapdoor's over here!" Gwen cheered, only to realize that the dumpster was too heavy for Ben or her to move. Looking at the dumpster and back at the alien old people, Gwen held up her watch and, with determination, readied a new transformation.
Seeing this, Ben lets out a smirk, "Looks like it's hero time." Followed by a flash of pink light.
Cannonbolt Transformtions
Veins appear over Gwen's arm as it visibly callouse and grows going up her arm to her face
The back of Gwen's shirt lifts up to show an orange growth form on her back as her body bubbles and inflates
as her arms get larger her hair turns into a shell as her skin pales and black marks appear over her eyes and mouth
She then curls into a ball before unfurling into Ricoshell
Now transformed into Ricoshell, Gwen grabbed the dumpster before hurling it at the elders, sending them flying. Taking the distraction as his chance, Ben swung open the trapdoor, only to find that inside was an almost assuredly unsurvivable fall. However, just as he heard Gwen approached, he found himself hoisted into the air. He readied to fight back, only to find it was Ricoshell holding him. She then held him close to her body before curling up around him and plunging into the tunnel below. The fall was rocky, Gwen audibly bounced off the tunnel down, causing Ben to get queasy, and being this close was far from comfortable. Luckily the ride seemed to come to an end as they finally landed at the bottom, bouncing around a bit before Gwen finally uncurled, laying on her back as Ben groggily lay on her stomach. "Ugh, comics make that look way more fun." Taking a moment to recuperate they were unfortunately unable to rest for long as the other elders began making chase downwards. Not one to hesitate, Gwen grabbed Ben again before rolling back up and racing away. Ben only being able to utter a quick, "Not again!"
Eventually, they made enough distance that they were finally able to stop for a moment. "What's the plan?" Ben wheezed as he eased his stomach.
"Ricoshell is able to see even in ball form, I'm not sure how I do this, but I'm hoping to do the same thing now, see if I can feel anything," Gwen replied as she held her hand to the wall. Letting herself breathe and relax her senses she did indeed begin to feel something, something close something, right behind her cousin. Rolling into her ball form, she charged at the wall, using it to loop back around, and slamming into Verdona's alien duplicate who had been sneaking. This blow sends them into a nearby wall, making a good dent in it too. Unfortunately, it wasn't nearly enough, for Fakedona almost causally stepped out from the rubble. Fakedona's arms turned to slime as she sent them flying across the cavern and at Gwen. However, Gwen quickly curled up and responded by ramming through the arms and at Fakdona again. They through a few punches as Gwen lords over her grandma's imposter. Ready to end the ordeal, Gwen raised a giant fist at the alien, only for it to morph its face, looking just like Verdona.
"You wouldn't wanna hurt old Granny Verdona, now would'ya?"
Ricoshell winces in hesitation allowing the fake Verdona to kick her away and twist back onto her feet. Seeing this Ben runs up to Ricoshell as she gets to her feet, "Hey, Dweeby, Rule 1: that's not Grandma, that's an alien! Rule 2 You kick alien butt! Now get to it!"
With those words of encouragement Ricoshell charges at the fake Verdona, ramming her into a wall causing a wall of rocks to crumble on top of them. Ricoshell suddenly uncurls. "Woah"
"Woah, What?"
"No time!"
Gwen yelled as she grabbed Ben and curled up before bolting off in that direction. "Not again!"
As Ricoshell raced down the tunnel Ben found himself being tossed around as he got increasingly dizzy. However, the spin was the least of his issues as the watch began beeping green and beeping loudly in his ear. Ricoshell hearing the beeping too, revs up and charges through a boarded-up passageway "Brace for impact!" Gwen yelled. They just barely managed to crash through before Ricoshell turned back into Gwen in a flash of green.
Flying out of the tunnel the cousins groaned in pain, Ben shooting Gwen a glare as he held back nausea. " Hey, super nerd! What do I look like, a crash test dummy?!"
"Listen, I don't know what it is, but I was able to feel something about the cave this way." Gwen explained as she massaged her head. Once they got to their feet they began to walk further into the cave Gwen barged into, eventually finding themselves in a large cave. Pods littered the floor as what appeared to be a giant spaceship sat in the middle of the room. Both cousins are left slack-jawed as they walk around the room, looking into the pods where they see Phil's neighbors unconscious inside.
"It's like everyone in Retirement Village has been podded up!" Ben whispered in awe.
As they looked around Gwen spotted a pod a familiar-looking occupant. "Grandma!" She sprinted up to the pod that held her grandma, who appeared to be floating asleep. Not wasting time, she tugs at the pod and manages to crack it open.
As the pod cracked open Verdona fell out limply. After a moment she began coughing up pod juice and grudgingly waking up. "Oooh, what? What happened? I was out for a walk, and then...can't remember what happened next."
Seeing her grandma's safe awakening Gwen attempted to open another pod, only for a slimy hand to whip at her. The hand then retracted back into Phil's imposter "I wouldn't do that If I were you!" He chuckled as a group of other old folk approached from behind him.
"Well, it's a good thing you're not me!" Gwen snarked angrily.
"Not yet, I'm not!" The imposter Phil chuckled. Then he and the other old folk began before morphing into their true forms, green slime-like aliens with orange eyes and visible organs.
"You can fill me in later." Verdona cringed as she scrambled to her feet.
As the family backed away Ben accidentally ends up bumping into a button, causing a doorway to open. As it did so the family was shocked to find a large room consisting of hundreds of pods filled with various old folk. "They got Uncle Phil!" Ben yelled as he spotted Phil floating, asleep in one of those pods.
"They're loading them into something" Gwen pointed out as she noticed a large building surrounding the eggs.
"It's a ship!" Verdona realized.
"They found it!" One of the aliens hissed, "Do not let them escape! Not when they could expose the Limax race!"
"Our prey have marinated long enough!" another one of Limax's hissed in agreement. Much to Verdona's concern and bafflement.
Taking in the scene Ben looked into the ship and noticed a familiar-looking old folk in a pod on a wall. "They've got Uncle Phil!
Having had enough of these aliens Gwen activated the now recharged watch, selecting Heatblast. "That's it! Time to fight slimmer with Fire!" She then slammed down as she was surrounded by a bright pink light.
HeatBlast Transformation
In the pink void Gwen floats in the void as rocks begin to appear across her arm, tracing up her hand and fingers
Her head gets covered with rocks, with said rocks making their way to her eye before said eye begins glowing a fiery yellow as it causes cracks to appear
Her entire body becomes red and rocky, with her hands, feet, head, and various cracks around her body being lit ablaze.
As she she flexes in her new form, Gwen is now a tall red rocky woman. She has large hands and two roed feet, both covered with fire. Cracks across her body show fire underneath. Her head is too, surrounded by fire, with only her mask-like face being viable. The watch's badge sits on her chest.
"Now, I'm going to return the favor!" Heatblast boasted as she lit her fist. Channeling as much fire as she could she unleashed a giant fiery blast at the Limax, only for them to morph around it with ease. They let out a disturbing cackle as they allowed themselves to turn to a liquid state as they wrapped around each other, eventually combining their mass into one giant Limax
"You just made a terrible mistake!" The Limax boasted. "Us Limaxes live for the heat! Why do you think we came to the desert in the summer?"
Heatblast cringed at the call out, sure that Ben would have a laugh at such an obvious blunder. Still, she had little choice but to fight as is. So instead she simply fought the Limax by trying to use of the concussive force of her fire's explosions to keep it off balance, while Verdona and Ben secretly attempted to carry the podded seniors out of the ship.
Unfortunately, their attempt at secrecy was in vain as they were quickly spotted by the lording Limax. Said Limax, in retaliation, launched two smaller Limax's from its back, landing in front of Ben and Verdona, cutting them off from the rest of the pods. Upon landing one of those Limax's attempts to swing at Ben, only for him to safely dodge out of the way. However, as he dodged the swipe the Limax had managed to hit the bag, spilling its contents out.
And, though she was busy being molly whooped by the giant Limax, Gwen was able to notice as the two Limax visibly paused as they saw the water bottle spill out of the bag and roll on the floor near the. It was at that moment she fully pierced it together, the sprinklers, the glass, that bottle, "Guys they're weak to water!" She exclaimed in Heatblast's raspy voice.
Ben, hearing his cousin remembering the fiasco from that morning, grabbed the bottle and tore off the cap, spraying the aliens with its contents. In reaction, the Limax began to screech a dreadful cry before collapsing into a liquid puddle on the ground.
Heatblast, seeing the display as the giant Limax watched the act in horror, smiled at her cousin's victory. She then took the Limax's diverted focus to plan her escape. She looked around the cavern, there were rocks galore, but just above she saw it, a water pipe. She charged up a fireball with all the energy she could and fired it at the water pipe, blowing it to smithereens as water gushed out, getting all over the Limax which struggled to keep its form as it screeched in pain. In that pain they unthinkingly dropped Heatblast as they fled to their ship, falling into a large green puddle. "See ya, slimy!" Gwen quipped in satisfaction.
As the sentient puddle fled to the ship Ben and Verdona managed to get the last few pods out, Verdona snarking at the Limax, "Sorry slimeball, but these aren't to-go!" The ship then whirled to life as it rose from the ground and blasted upwards, breaking through the ground above, and eventually left their sights entirely.
After the ordeal settled down the family surveyed the sheer amount of old folk pods littering the floor. "We should put them all back in their condos, so they'll think they never left." Verdona thought aloud.
"That could take hours." Ben pointed out, looking around at the pods.
However, as they discussed the issue their attention was stolen by a sudden BEEP BEEP BWOOP as a green light filled the room, Gwen standing where Heatblast had. "Don't worry guys." Gwen assured as she held aloof the watch, "Gimme a few minutes, I'll see if XLR8 can help out."
Spending the rest of the day and night taking care of the old folk, the Tennyson's eventually found themselves having to depart from, a now-free, Phil, feeling awfully too soon.
"Don't be strangers!" Phil cheered as he hugged Verdona.
"We won't." She replied with a chuckle.
Ben was next to give his goodbyes. But just before he could board the RV Phil stopped him as he fished around in his pocket."Oh son, here, it's that gizmo you seemed interested in." Phil then handed the battery pack that had caused the whole fiasco. Just keep it a safe distance from the watch will you? Don't want to cause your cuz any more grief, ey?
"Woah, thanks." Ben cheered as he grabbed the device and sprinted into the RV with a smile.
Gwen was next, approaching shyly, "Sorry I didn't get to see you much Uncle Phil." Gwen apologized, her head held low.
Phil good-naturedly just patted her on the head, "Oh it's not a big deal, I know you were busy." He replied kindly.
Gwen paused in confusion before remembering Ben's lie to Phil, "Oh-Oh, Yeah, with the scrapbook hehe."
Phil let out a chuckle, "Ah yes the scrapbook." He pat Gwen on the head once more before begging to walk away, but not before winking back at her and saying, "I'm sure it's… out of this world."
