~A/N~ Eno-on: Finally we're going into the next storyline, the in between parts take longest to get written.

Eno-on: Mileena will continue her character arc, and everyone will keep trying to break her out of her self-destructive tendencies, but without further ado…

~Chapter 18 Moving on From the Past~

After Jade had carried the unconscious Mileena to the infirmary, she couldn't help but stare at the hybrid, her assumptions were wrong and she had seen the proof directly, only for Mileena to put herself on the ground, she had no choice but to wait for the doctor, after all she would want an explanation for Mileena's condition.

Minutes would go by before Lewis rushed into the room, "I came as soon as I heard, what happened?" she asked frantically, she stopped still when she saw Mileena laying on the infirmary bed.

Aside from her breathing, Mileena was completely still, her face was uncovered, leaving her teeth on full display, with blood all over the lower half of her face.

"What happened?" Lewis repeated her question, her tone cold enough to make Jade shiver slightly, she reached out and gently brushed Mileena's hair aside, Lewis then turned back to Jade with a fierce look, "well…"

Jade slowly explained how Mileena had worked herself into this state through overusing her magic without proper training, she then explained how it was likely Mileena was using her magic during training all day after she left.

"She should have known her limits" Jade commented "this was stupid and reckless"

"Shut up" said Lewis "it was reckless, but you have no clue on what she does and doesn't know" she then narrowed her eyes at the Edenian "she has no idea about the dangers of using magic, it was your job to train her and make sure she doesn't hurt herself"

"She would have felt pain long before she started damaging her body" Jade argued, denying the accusation "I am not to blame for Mileena's state"

"I told you earlier today, "she has nothing in this world except her goal to save her sister" she'll do anything towards that goal" Lewis bit back "I won't let her suffer if I can prevent it, so just leave for now" the doctor sighed, pulling a pack of wet wipes from the nearby draw, she started cleaning Mileena's face "give me her mask and go"

Mileena woke up with a large headache, as she reached up to rub her head, she grazed her hand over her teeth, realizing her face was uncovered, she snapped her eyes open and bolted upright, only for the room to spin around her.

"Mileena calm down, its okay" came a soothing voice, a hand was then gently placed on her shoulder, her vision was blurry enough that she couldn't make out the figure before her, "just lay back down for now okay?"

"Yeah, that sounds nice" she muttered to the figure, a feeling of safety washing over her "I'll just…"

Lewis stared down at the now unconscious girl on the infirmary bed, she hated seeing Mileena panic like that, but for now all she could do was help her through it, the doctor sighed, she knew Mileena wouldn't accept the idea of stopping her training.

"Mileena, I hope you'll listen to me when you wake up" Lewis tiredly rubbed her eyes "I can't lose you too…"

Over the next several days Mileena adjusted to a new routine, for some reason Lewis had insisted on accompanying her to the Edenian training sessions she had with Jade, the only explanation was that was given was "I need to make you stay safe and healthy"

Mileena was not complaining, ever since Lewis started coming with her, Jade had been acting a lot nicer than their first training session, her understanding of Edenian magic had grown with these altered lessons.

Another thing that had become routine for Mileena was regular meetings with Sareena and Ashrah, the former more so than the latter, the older woman was someone who she liked spending time with, and she really hoped it would be like this with Kitana after she was saved.

However today Mileena broke herself out of the pattern "Hi Sonya" she greeted, she had noticed that Sonya was much more relaxed compared to when they met.

"Hello Mileena, did you need something?" asked Sonya, looking up from some papers.

"Do you have a way to talk to Raiden?" she asked nervously.

"Can I ask why" Sonya replied.

"I feel kinda bad about breaking Jade's staff in the Netherrealm" she answered "I want to talk to Raiden about fixing it, or getting her a new one"

"That's really nice of you Mileena" said Sonya "I'll see about contacting him for you"

"Thanks Sonya" she replied "let me know how that goes" she turned to leave before quickly stopping herself "is there anything I can help you with?"

"No, we're currently on top of everything at the moment, but thank you"

"Okay, I'll talk to you later then" with her piece said, Mileena left the room in search of something to do.

Raiden sat in deep meditation thinking about everything that had happened since the Mortal Kombat tournament, when he received those visions of the future, he believed he could create a good outcome for Earthrealm and instead he nearly doomed it.

He had learned how he was not always right, and nowhere was that exemplified then with Mileena, he like many others had dismissed her as an evil doppelgänger of Kitana, and yet she had chosen to fight alongside them of her own free will.

Kenshi had said "I believe she has always had a good heart and is now in an environment where it's being encouraged" and Raiden had to admit that the swordsman was right, another thing to remember was that the half Tarkatan had brought in a valuable ally from the Neatherream that no one else had even thought of recruiting.

As the thunder god left in contemplative state he noticed the amulet he had given to Sonya as a communicator was glowing, lifting it to eye level he answered her call.

"Hello Raiden" she greeted calmly "do you have a minute?"

"Yes, I am currently unoccupied" he answered "what is the reason of this call Sonya Blade"

"I'm actually making a request on Mileena's behalf" she replied, surprising Raiden by bringing up the subject of his thoughts "she said she feels a little guilty about breaking Jade's staff in the Neatherrealm, so she was wondering if you would be able to fix it?"

"If you have to original pieces we could fix it, if not we would have to build a new one"

"Thank you Raiden, we have the pieces here at the base" she said "before I go, have you heard anything from Sub-zero?"

"I have not been tracking his movements but I can find him if you wish?" he asked.

"That would be appreciated, it would be nice to have a full picture of where our allies are" she replied "anyway thank you Raiden, goodbye for now"

"Farewell" he said as the call ended, with the cryomancer brought up he started thinking about the now cyberized Lin quei, and if they were another threat to Earthrealm's safety.
