Mortal Kombat; A Second Chance
~A/N~ Eno-on: So the set up for the first Lin-Kuei mission is complete, Mileena visited the dentist and I asked the readers to choose the last mission member between Jade and Ashrah.

~Chapter 21 The Briefing~
Mileena sat in the meeting room, more then ready for the assignment in question, when Sareena had told her that she was going to help Sub-zero go against the Lin Kuei, Mileena knew she had to help.
Mileena was wearing a new mask again, this one was black with a horizontal jagged pink, giving the illusion of fangs, the rest of her outfit consisted of a long sleeve pink t-shirt and a half zipped black vest, she had new black cargo pants with side pockets being pink, and thick black boots.
Looking over she could see Sareena and Ashrah ready for Sonya and Sub-zero to arrive and explain the mission details, it had upset the hybrid when Jade had refused to participate in the mission.
Sareena was wearing a red t-shirt with black sleeves that stopped at her elbows, she had form-fitting black leather pants with a thick red stripe going down the side of each leg, and similar boots to Mileena herself.
Ashrah was wearing a white gi top with a gold trim and gold wrappings at her wrists going halfway up her forearms, she had baggy white pants with golden wrappings going halfway up her shin, and white boots.
Mileena looked over at the other women in the room for a moment before speaking "why did you agree to this assignment Ashrah?" she asked "I don't think I asked your reason either Sareena"
"Major Blade explained to me that these 'Cyber Lin-Kuei' are kidnapping innocent people, forcing them into slavery" Ashrah clenched her fist tightly "I cannot stand any injustice like this, so I will help stop this 'Sektor' individual"
"My motivations are smaller in scope" Sareena said reluctantly "Sub-zero's brother Bi-Han helped my escape from Quan Chi, so I want to help pay my debt to him"
"I will take your aid, you do not need to justify it to me" said Sub-zero as he entered the room with Sonya at his side.
"Alright everyone, the three of you are here to help Sub-zero deal with the Lin-Kuei" Sonya explained "the reason it was just the three of you is because you are all independent of the Special Forces and have volunteered"
"I'm sorry Jade said no Sub-zero" Mileena apologized.
"I would not force the issue, if she wishes to stay uninvolved, that is her choice" he replied with a raised hand "our first order of business should be Sektor's factory where the cyberization process take place"
"Wouldn't that be heavily guarded?" Ashrah asked.
"Yes, however I remember the layout from when I was forced into the cyber initiative" he answered "thanks to Quan Chi turning me into a revenant I have my human once more, so I cannot be 'reprogrammed' by Sektor"
"What can you tell us about this place?" Mileena asked.
"The factory is built into the side of a quarry, Sektor is using the natural resources of the area to his advantages" Sub-zero explained "while it is not his only conversion factory it is the largest and the one I'm most familiar with, destroying it will greatly reduce his forces"
"We should free any prisoners we come across" said Ashrah, her tone leaving no room for argument, Mileena nodding along.
"I understand your concerns" he replied "however we won't be able to save everyone"
"That doesn't mean we can't try" Mileena said with determination.
"Well said" Sonya smirked "I may put a request forward for this mission"
"Proceed Major Blade" Sub-zero nodded.
"If possible could you capture a couple of the cyber Lin-Kuei" requested Sonya "we could study their programming and learn how to counter it"
"That is a good idea" Sub-zero replied "it could turn those who were forcefully converted against Sektor and help us when we assault the main base"
"If that is everything, I suggest three days to prepare for the mission" said Sonya, pausing to allow them to speak up "dismissed"
As Sonya and Sub-zero left the room Sareena turned to face the youngest occupant "I've been meaning to ask you something Mileena" she said "where were you a couple days ago"
"Well…"
~Flashback~
Mileena sat uncomfortably in the waiting room of the dentist, a clipboard in hand, filling out paperwork, she couldn't help but feel dread pool in her stomach, because she knew her teeth would be on full display.
"I'll be by your side the whole time Mileena" Lewis said from the next chair over "so try to relax please"
"I can't help it" she replied, handing over the finished paperwork "they're going to see my face"
The duo sat in silence as the receptionist looked over the paperwork, Mileena was startled from her thoughts when she was called over and told to go to room 3.
Room 3 had a large reclined chair under a suspended light with an attached sink, Mileena felt Lewis place a hand on her back before she could even attempt to run.
"Mileena, I know you're scared" Lewis said softly "but we have to face what we're afraid of to overcome it"
Steeling her nerves Mileena marched into the room with all the enthusiasm of the gallows and sat down on the reclined chair and looked at the other occupant of the room.
He was a man of Asian descent, with a name tag labelled "Kenji Chen" waiting patiently for Lewis to shut the door.
"Good morning Mileena" he greeted "your caretaker has informed me of your... unusual heritage and tooth pains you've been experiencing" Mileena didn't trust her voice and simply nodded, "now, I'm going to ask that you remove your mask please" he continued calmly.
Hesitantly she complied, if the dentist had any thoughts they appear on his face, he gestured for her to lay back, a reassuring look from Lewis made her comply.
"Okay now open wide" he said quietly, reluctantly she did so, "now I need you to try and remain calm, while I have a look"
Mileena closed her eyes tightly flinching at every slight poke and prod, hours seemed to tick by in her mind.
"Alright we're done" he announced, Mileena's eyes bolted open and looked to the clock, revealing only a few minutes had passed.
"It wasn't too bad was it Mileena?" Lewis asked with a smile.
Mileena was putting her mask back on the cover her face, and couldn't help but feel calmer with it back in place, "...thank you" she mumbled.
"From what I can tell, Mileena's teeth are fusing together" the dentist explained to Lewis "I don't know if this is normal for the species, or if this comes her mixed heritage" he turned to face her "for now, I can only suggest to continue taking care of your oral hygiene and take some mild pain killers if the ache gets too strong"
~Flashback End~
"I don't really wanna talk about it" Mileena sighed "we should get going, Sub-zero is probably tired of waiting"
When the trio caught up with the cryomancer, Sonya was explaining what was happening to the transport.
"Now listen you three" Sonya said loudly "I know that none of you are members of the Special Forces, but please follow Sub-zero's orders, he's leading this mission"
With a round of agreements, everyone climbed into the vehicle, Mileena waved goodbye to Sonya as the door closed.
