At Naruto's apartment
"Hi, Satsuki!" Naruto greeted.
"Hi, Naruto. What do you think sensei has to say today?" She asked.
"He is probably going to say who we will be trained by. Since all of us can't take Kakashi sensei's time evenly, he would give us to other jonin to train under whilst he would teach the one he is probably the most suited for his training," Naruto stated.
"Oh, who would he teach? You?" She asked.
"Nah, he would probably train you since you have the sharingan," Naruto replied.
"Then who would train you?" She asked.
"I have a few things to train on myself, so I wouldn't require any help," Naruto answered.
He placed his hand on her shoulder and teleported himself to his team's location.
'Ah, so he can use the Flying Thunder God jutsu as he said before. This is truly astounding,' Kakashi thought.
"Sensei, what are you going to teach us?" Sakura asked.
"I am not here to teach you guys now, I have something important to say so listen up," Kakashi said.
Everyone went near Kakashi.
"I will be only training Satsuki for the duration of the break, but don't think I haven't gotten anyone ready to teach you guys, I have Ebisu to teach the both of you. It's up to you both to accept if you want to train under him or not," Kakashi announced.
"What? Why are you only teaching her? She is already strong!" Sakura said with a frown.
"Look here, Sakura, Satsuki's style of fighting is very similar to mine. Not to mention Satsuki is going up against a Jinchuriki with a very powerful defence, so she needs a good arsenal like mine to counter that. Whilst Naruto and you are much different than me," Kakashi said.
"I will train on my own, it's best if Sakura rains with Ebisu alone since he could help her out with the skills she might be lacking," Naruto said.
"Well then, all of you are dismissed, oh wait, here are a few jutsus you can learn in your spare time. They might help you out," Kakashi said, handing them a scroll each.
"Thanks," Naruto said, leaving in a body flicker.
Naruto planned on having the Sword Of Thunder God repaired to its previous glory, so he went to the Higarashi smith.
On the way, he had to go through Konoha's famous hot springs.
A perverted giggle could be heard from the left of Naruto.
'Hmm? A pervert eh,' Naruto thought.
Naruto went around and tried sensing the person who was peeking.
'Ah, this guy must be good in stealth,' Naruto thought after a few minutes of searching.
'At last! I found him! Hmm? He is just some old geezer,' Naruto thought. He tried sending the old man's chakra, and he had his eyes widened.
'This guy has more chakra than old man Hokage!' Naruto thought with surprise.
'He is also on top of a toad, this means he is Jiraiya, one of the 3 sanin, also the last loyal sanin,' Naruto thought with a frown at the end.
"Yo!" Naruto greeted with a whisper.
"Keep it quiet, brat!" Jiraiya whispered harshly.
Naruto grabbed Jiraiya and jumped back to a secluded spot.
"Hey! What's the deal, brat?!" Jiraiya asked with annoyance.
"You're one of the legendary sanin, right? But from what I saw, you are just a pervert," Naruto said.
Jiraiya summoned a medium-sized toad and stood on top of it.
"I am the wise and handsome sage from Mount Myoboku! I am one of the legendary sanin! And I am no pervert! I am a super pervert!" Jiraiya exclaimed with a huge and goofy grin.
"Hmmm, so you are the pervy sage?" Naruto asked with a smirk.
"WHAT! How dare you bastardise my title!" Jiraiya asked with annoyance evident.
"Cause you are a sage and a pervert at that too," Naruto answered with a smirk.
"What do you want from me, brat?" Jiraiya asked, getting to the point.
"I want you to train me," Naruto replied. He knew this would be his chance to get a powerful summon at last.
"Huff, and why should I train a brat like you?" Jiraiya asked,
"Aren't you supposed to be training me? Ya know, since you are my godfather after all," Naruto answered.
"Uh?" Jiraiya blinked.
'Ah, shit! He is Minato's brat! And he knows his relation with him!' Jiraiya thought.
"Ahh... So... what do you want to train on?" Jiraiya asked with a bit of nervousness.
"Don't worry, I don't hold the fact that you weren't there in my life against you. You had your duties as the spymaster for the village. The fact that our village has started preparing for an upcoming invasion is proof of your importance to our village," Naruto stated.
Jiraiya's eyes widened at what Naruto said.
"How do you know that we are going to be invaded?" Jiraiya asked.
"At first, I sent a few shadow clones as spies, but I got more money, so I was able to expand my spy network to a higher extent by getting more spies in," Naruto said calmly.
"Also, I have the ability to see if the person I am talking to is lying or not, so I can easily distinguish between the truths and lies," Naruto continued.
"Damn!" Jiraiya said with shock.
"Tell me what you want to learn from me?" Jiraiya asked again.
"I want to learn how to summon toads," Naruto answered.
"Oh, to summon toads, you must sign your name with your blood in this scroll," Jiraiya said, opening the summoning scroll.
Naruto wrote his name down with blood on the scroll.
"So, how do I summon a toad?" Naruto asked.
"Do the same hand signs as I do," Jiraiya said. Naruto followed Jiraiya's instructions and summoned a toad.
"Hey! Do you have any snacks?" The toad asked.
"What's your name?" Naruto asked.
"It's Gamakichi! I am Gamabunta's son!" Gamakichi replied.
"Woah, you're Bunta's son huh," Jiraiya replied with a bit of shock.
"Here," Naruto said, giving Gamakichi a small candy wrapped in plastic.
"What did you summon me for?" Gamakichi asked.
"Well, I wanted to try out summoning for the first time, and you came when I performed the jutsu," Naruto answered.
"Really? You summoned me on your first try?" Gamakichi asked with surprise.
"Yeah?" Naruto said with a bit of confusion.
"Brat, both me and your father summoned only tadpoles for the first few days of training in the summoning jutsu. You must have a lot of chakra to perform this well. Don't forget that it will get easier as you summon more times, if you get skilled enough, you might summon specific toads based on your needs," Jiraiya said.
"Oh, that's nice to know," Naruto said with a huge smile.
"Oh heard from Kakashi that you know how to use the rasengan, I can teach you how to improve it," Jiraiya suggested.
"Oh yeah! I want to improve it, but I will do it after I have mastered the summoning jutsu to a decent level," Naruto said making a few shadon clones.
"Brat, shadow clones won't help you out with the summoning jutsu," Jiraiya said.
"If I charge them with enough chakra, then they could help," Naruto said.
" You have that much chakra?" Jiraiya asked with a bit of amazement.
"Yeah, I used some of the nine-tails chakra for it," Naruto said.
"Oh, on the point of the nine-tails, I want you to loosen the seal a bit more, I can handle more of its chakra, but the seal is too tight to let the chakra out," Naruto said.
"Oh? How do you know how much of the nine-tails chakra you can use?" Jiraiya asked.
"Because of this," Naruto said, holding a ram seal. Suddenly a small tree came out of the ground, shocking Jiraiya.
"You have the Wood release?!" Jiraiya shouted.
"Shhh! Keep it quiet!" Naruto tried to shush Jiraiya.
"Alright, but from what I know, you aren't a descendant of Lord Hashirama," Jiraiya said.
"Yeah, but I am Lord Tobirama's great-grandson," Naruto replied.
"I know, brat! Looks like that kekkei genkai is a unique kekkei genkai throughout the Senju clan, but it's very recessive since only 2 people, including you are known to have it to my knowledge," Jiraiya replied.
"Yeah, that's reasonable," Naruto replied.
"I will loosen the seal to a level, I will only open it so that you can use up to 5 tails of chakra since we shouldn't risk it too much when it comes to the nine tails," Jiraiya said.
"Summoning Jutsu! Geratora!" Jiraiya exclaimed, summoning a toad with a scroll as its body.
"Why did you summon me, Lord Jiraiya?" Geratora asked.
"I summoned you for the seal's key, I am here to loosen it a bit," Jiraiya answered.
"What? This early? The brat is only about 12 years old!" Geratora responded.
"You don't have to tell me, I want to see his limits," Jiraiya said.
"Alright, I hope you know what you are getting yourself into," Geratora responded.
Jiraiya looked at Naruto's seal and he placed his hand on it, he slowly twisted it open, being sure not to release it too much. After doing it for a few seconds, Jiraiya took his hands off and looked at Naruto.
'Hmm, he isn't showing any signs of aggression, this means he is perfectly under control, that's simply amazing for someone his age!' Jiraiya thought with surprise, but he didn't show it out since he didn't want Naruto to have a big head.
"Good, now you should start practising this jutsu, I will be going out to research," Jiraiya said, leaping off to a nearby waterfall where girls were taking a bath.
"ughh, pervert," Naruto muttered.
6:20 pm,
"Summoning Jutsu!" Naruto yelled, this time around, he used more chakra than he did in his previous attempts since he wanted to meet the toad boss.
In a huge plume of smoke, there was a huge brick-red toad.
"Jiraiya! Where are you? Why did you summon me?" The huge toad, named Gamabunta shouted.
"That old pervert didn't summon you, I did," Naruto said on top of him.
"Huh? How did a shrimp like you summon me? Don't lie!" Gamabunta shouted.
"What he's saying is true pops! He is our new summoner, and he did summon you!" Gamakichi said jumping on top of Naruto's head.
"How do you have so much chakra?" Gamabunta asked with amazement.
"I have access to some of the Nine-tails' chakra," Naruto responded. 'It's been a while since Kurama got up,' Naruto thought while speaking about Kurama. Kurama was resting up so as to gather enough chakra to grow back to his original size. With the seal loosening bit by bit over the years, Kurama was able to absorb both Naruto's chakra and Natural chakra to refill his reserves. Now that the Seal is loosened even more, Kurama can absorb natural chakra a lot more than he previously did.
"You must be my dad's personal summon," Naruto said.
"Yes, I was. You look a lot like him," Gamabunta remarked.
"Yeah, people will get to see my resemblance to him soon enough," Naruto stated.
"Well, to prove yourself to summon me, you should stay on my back for a long time!" Gamabunta said.
"Sure!" Naruto exclaimed.
"You should stay on top of me until the sun rises tomorrow," Gamabunta said.
"Alright! I will prove that I can stay on top of you for the whole time!" Naruto responded.
'Let's see if he is anything like Minato,' Gamabunta thought.
3 am,
'This kid is holding up surprisingly well! I've been at this for nearly nine hours, and there are only two hours left until sunrise. I'm feeling exhausted from jumping around at full force for so long,' Gamabunta thought.
"Come on, Gamabunta! You are slowing down! Are you giving up?" Naruto riled on gamabunta.
"You brat! You will get off of me soon!" Gamabunta roared, jumping around vigorously.
'This brat is holding onto Gamabunta without even sweating! It took me 15 tries and Minato 10 times to succeed, this brat is doing it on his first try!' Jiraiya thought with surprise.
5: 12 am,
"I won! The sun is rising!" Naruto shouted, doing a victory dance on top of Gamabunta.
'This kid got the spunk, he succeeded on his first try,' Gamabunta thought.
"You did well, brat. I will be going now. You can summon me when you need me for any battle," Gamabunta said.
Gamabunta disappeared in a puff of smoke.
"You did great, brat. I took 15 tries to do what you did," Jiraiya said.
"Thanks, pervy sage," Naruto replied.
"Grrr, I told you to not call me that!" Jiraiya said with annoyance.
"Well, I will be seeing you in the afternoon, I gotta go rest up," Naruto said, leaving in a yellow flash.
'Eh? He can use the Flying Thunder God Jutsu already?!' Jiraiya thought with shock.
28th July,
9:00 am,
Training ground 20-S,
"You did well, Satsuki," Kakashi praised.
Satsuki was huffing with exhaustion.
"Not enough, I can't use it that often," She said while huffing.
"You are nearly as good as I am at using the Raikiri already. I planned on teaching it to you as a present when you became a chunin, but you have surpassed my expectations," Kakashi remarked.
"Naruto is still way ahead of me!" Satsuki said with a frown.
"Naruto is ahead of me too," Kakashi replied.
"But it doesn't change the fact that even without the mangekyo, you are probably as strong as most chunin and some jonin from our village. Naruto has been training for a very long time, far longer than you or Sakura. This gives him a natural edge over you, but the gap can be closed through consistent hard training every day. Naruto's strength is limited by his age, so if you add that fact, he is improving only gradually compared to you or Sakura," Kakashi replied.
"Don't worry, you will catch up to Naruto soon enough," Kakashi said trying to get her off of her depressive mood.
"Now, let's train our taijutsu, you are in the final stage of creating the new Taijutsu style," Kakashi said, getting into his pose.
Satsuki got into her pose as well, she still had some stamina left over to fight after all.
10:30 am,
At the Hokage's office,
"Yo, gramps! What do you need me for?" Naruto asked.
"You are finally here, I asked for you regarding your inheritance, you can claim your parent's complete inheritance after completing some paperwork for it. You won't get access to the entirety of the Senju clan's money since you need to become the Senju clan head, and for it, you should be at least a chunin in terms of rank," Hiruzen said.
"Oh, it's alright! I will become a chunin by the end of the exams," Naruto said with a huge smile.
Hiruzen handed over the required documents to Naruto.
"Also, about your cousin, her name is Karin Uzumaki and she has a special ability where if you bite her, you can completely heal yourself. We plan on helping her find other ways to heal someone without harming her. She also has the power to use the chakra chains. We will be keeping her in custody until the exams are over, she is a valuable target which Orochimaru might be after," Hiruzen said.
"Hmhm, I place her under your care for now, I will move her to the Uzumaki estate after the chunin exams are over," Naruto replied.
"Hand me the documents by the end of the day," Hiruzen said, dismissing Naruto so he could continue doing his paperwork. There was a lot of it since the chunin exams were being hosted in Konoha.
Naruto left using the Flying Thunder God jutsu.
Naruto made a shadow clone to do the paperwork whilst he left to do training.
At the training grounds,
"Finally, you are here!" Jiraiya said with annoyance.
"Let's get on with our training already!" Naruto said with a bit of annoyance since he had overslept since Kurama was also sleeping.
13th August,
"Ah you are as fast as your father is in using that jutsu, all you need is experience in using it against others," Jiraiya said, impressed by Naruto's use of the Flying Thunder God jutsu.
"I will ask the old man for a mission for us to do where you can use that jutsu," Jiraiya said.
"Hmm, what kind of mission would that be?" Naruto asked.
Jiraiya frowned.
"You might not like it, but you will have to eliminate a lot of bandits. This is so that you won't hesitate when you use the jutsu against someone," Jiraiya said solemnly.
"Hmm, I have killed before, but I still don't like it," Naruto said with a small frown.
"That's great! You should never feel anything but dislike for it, that's what makes us human after all," Jiraiya said with a small smile.
Naruto and Jiraiya left in a body flicker to the Hokage's office.
At the Hokage's office,
"What brings you both here?" Hiruzen asked with a smile.
"We are here for a mission, preferably a mission which will require us to take care of many people," Jiraiya said.
Hiruzen motioned for his anbu to leave.
"And why is that? Naruto has to train for the exams," Hiruzen asked with seriousness.
"He needs to learn how to use the Flying Thunder God without hesitation like Minato. Naruto has to be proficient with it. If he kills common criminals, it will help him face tougher opponents by removing his hesitation to cause harm, or kill the enemy," Jiraiya said with seriousness.
Hiruzen looked worriedly at Naruto, he knew Naruto was just a child, but a very mature one who was willing to do anything for the village. Naruto nodded solemnly, agreeing with Jiraiya.
"Fine, I got a bandit elimination mission where there is a huge group of bandits, there are at least 140 bandits there. The location is at the northern border, east of the town named Yuni. They are headed by a few rogue Iwa ninjas who are strong enough to be classified as B-rank threats. This mission's ranking would be Low A-rank due to the number of bandits and ninjas," Hiruzen said, handing the mission scroll to Jiraiya.
"The mission will be headed by Jiraiya," Hiruzen stated.
Both Naruto and Jiraiya nodded.
Naruto left in a yellow flash whilst Jiraiya left in a body flicker.
Naruto wrote a note to Satsuki to say he would be away for a day to do a mission and left shortly after packing for it.
At the Northern Gate of Konoha,
"Welcome, Lord Jiraiya!" The guards saluted.
"Here, we are going out on an official mission, sign them up and give it quickly, we need to complete this mission asap!" Jiraiya barked out.
The guards quickly did as he told, giving the papers back to Jiraiya.
"Brat, release some of your seals, we will be going there at maximum speeds!" Jiraiya ordered.
Naruto did a ram hand sign to lower his gravity seal's level, and Jiraiya also did the same.
"Alright! Let's get going!" Jiraiya shouted, dashing off at high speeds.
'Damn! He is fast!' Naruto thought.
After 2 hours of running, they made their way to the bandit camp.
The mission details are as follows:
To eliminate all the bandits and rogue ninjas.
They have hostages from multiple villages from the land of fire, they must all be rescued.
"So brat, tell me how many people are there and their strengths," Jiraiya instructed.
"I can sense about 160 people. 50 of them have around genin level of strength, 12 chunin level, 2 jonin level... and a chakra signature probably as strong as Kakashi!" Naruto said with shock.
"Hmm? That's surprising! I thought at most there would be a jonin level opponent, not an S-ranked ninja," Jiraiya said thoughtfully.
"I can handle them, I just need some shadow clones to eliminate the weaker ones, I will take care of the rogue ninjas," Naruto said thoughtfully.
"Brat! You shouldn't underestimate them! You might be strong, but you lack the experience!" Jiraiya chastised.
"Don't worry, you are there to help me when things go down south," Naruto said.
"Ughh, fine, but don't come crying 'cause you got your ass handed to you," Jiraiya said with a frown.
"I won't, 'cause I will complete the mission myself," Naruto said with determination.
"I will send a few shadow clones to place my markers throughout the place," Naruto said, making 20 shadow clones.
The clones went around placing the seals without being noticed. Some snuck into the tents to try to find where the hostages were held.
"The hostages are secured, I will be proceeding with the elimination," Naruto said.
Jiraiya nodded solemnly.
In a yellow flash, Naruto left.
There were multiple flashes of yellow, many fell dead right after the flashes of light subsided.
Out of the big tent, a rogue Iwa ninja came to see what all the ruckus was about, he was able to sense that multiple people died inside the temporary camp they set up.
"Wha~" He was about to say, but his neck came out rolling. All he was able to see was a yellow flash.
"Check what's going on outside!" A voice came out of the tent.
"Hmm? It's just a brat!" One of the rogue ninjas said with a smirk.
"Hey, Jurotsuchi! Look around!" another rogue ninja said, gesturing around the carnage.
Naruto took out the sword of the Thunder God and stood ready for the battle.
The strongest of the rogue ninjas came out of the tent and looked around at what happened.
"What's going on here?" He asked.
'That's Hisatsuchi Tachibana, an S-ranked rogue ninja from Iwagakure. He is at the lower end of the S-ranked list, but is still very formidable thanks to his speed and strength,' Naruto thought with narrowed eyes.
"Hmm? You have quite the amount of chakra for your age," Hisatsuchi said with an impassive face.
Naruto made a few clones and made them fight the chunin and the jonin.
The shadow clones were all defeated within a few minutes, but a few of them managed to kill their opponents.
"Ah! Do you think shadow clones could defeat us?!" One of the Jonin-level ninjas asked in a mocking tone.
"They have served their purpose," Naruto said.
In a yellow flash, he disappeared.
9 ninjas fell dead, whilst the Hisatsuchi dodged Naruto's slash. But he suffered a huge gash through his chest. Hisatsuchi's eyes widened at what Naruto did.
"You look familiar! I should have known! Those blonde hair and blue eyes! You are the son of that bastard!" Hisatsuchi roared.
'That damned brat knows the Flying Thunder God jutsu and he has marked me! This is dangerous, I can't let my guard down! The only known way to counter someone with that jutsu is to randomly slash hoping you land a strike when he teleports,' Hisatsuchi thought.
"Oh, you think by slashing around you can counter the Flying Thunder God? Well, you are wrong!" Naruto shouted, making a few shadow clones.
'Gah! He can use the Flying Thunder God jutsu with his shadow clones! I completely nullified my counter!' He thought with resignation.
The clones disappeared in a yellow flash, and Hisatsuchi was brutally cut apart, with his face being the only part of his body with no injury to show his identity as Hisatsuchi is real.
"Mission accomplished," Naruto said while panting, he wasn't physically exhausted, but mentally.
"Good job, brat. Let's go back. Don't forget to seal the dead bodies of the ninjas, they have a high bounty on them," Jiraiya said.
"Yeah," Naruto said.
"I have sent some clones with the hostages to help them reach their villages," Naruto continued.
"Use the Flying Thunder God jutsu to teleport us there," Jiraiya instructed.
The whole mission lasted for about 30 minutes thanks to the help of the use of the Flying Raijin jutsu.
"Naruto, I think you should not use the Flying Raijin jutsu until it's necessary. If you don't use it often, people won't expect you to know how to perform the jutsu. All you need to do is engage them in a brief bout of Taijutsu, place the marker on them, and you've won the battle in just a few seconds," Jiraiya said.
"Yes, I agree with you. I can use this as a last resort, more as an element of surprise" Naruto remarked.
"That's right, now since you only have a few more days left, why don't we start practicing with the rasengan? You take about 2 seconds to form a rasengan, but after some training, you can form the jutsu within 1 second. The fastest I can make the jutsu is 0.4 seconds," Jiraiya said, boastfully at the last part.
"After that, you will be learning how to make a bigger rasengan," Jiraiya continued.
"Oh, you can make the rasengan bigger?" Naruto questioned with awe.
"Yes! You can also make the rasengan by using more chakra, but you should discover the secret since I don't want to spoon-feed you," Jiraiya said.
Naruto thought for a while and got the answer on how to do what Jiraiya told him on what he would be training on.
"I have to proportionally increase the amount of chakra around the rasengan to contain its power for making the small and powerful rasengan, and as for the big rasengan, I should increase the surface area of the rasengan proportionally to the increase in the volume of the rasengan," Naruto said.
Jiraiya was dumbfounded.
"Ah~ You are correct," Jiraiya replied.
"Alright, I will get started with it," Naruto said while making 30 shadow clones.
"15 to go make the large rasengan and the other 15 to make the more compact one," Naruto said.
He made 20 more of them to increase the speed to form the rasengan.
26th of August,
7:00 am,
"Satsuki, you should not come to the arena..." Naruto was saying but was stopped thanks to Satsuki lashing out.
"What do you mean I shouldn't go to the arena?!" Satsuki asked with anger.
"Geez! Listen first! I was saying you should come only when I signal you to come! You already know of the invasion, right? Well to give enough preparation time and to make the enemy more antsy and nervous, their signal is Gaara going nuts and releasing Shukaku! If you come late, then they will have to wait until the next match starts! I have already been briefed about this by the Hokage, we just want everything to go right so that we can keep the casualties low! Even a few minutes can help us out by a lot," Naruto explained.
"Fine!" Satsuki huffed.
"Ah, don't get mad! You will probably be promoted if you do well during the invasion," Naruto said trying to calm Satsuki.
"The plan for me is to get into the arena with the help of the marker I have on you, and use that to teleport Gaara to a far-off place so there will be no casualties," Naruto said.
Satsuki nodded at that.
"Here, this is a chakra seal, try filling it up as much as possible when you are waiting," Naruto instructed, giving the tag to her.
"You can use this chakra seal as an extra reserve when you are running low on your chakra reserves, also, you should only do warm-ups since you should be ready for the upcoming battle," Naruto said.
