"Short and Sweet. Rolls of the tongue."

"I see."

"One particular scary lady loves it."

"Uh-huh."

As Neptune watched as the very expressive young man was talking about his family, he eyed him carefully. Despite the rough dusty edges of his coat and the holes that were tearing up his vest, he was more interested in the thin veil of aura which was golden in color.
As he looked over him, he noticed something odd.

"Hey uhh, not that I need a reminder that my clothes are messed up but don't you think we need to get off the street ?"

Neptune then looked over the young child who was looking at them warily.
Despite the dangers today, the child at least was able to trust them.

"Yes, you're right. Come with me."

Around 1 am, they were able to get the kid in a shelter, one that was watched by the proper authorities. The head government of the 3rd region had made several shelters for humans and their offsprings to ensure the survivability of the species. Not only that, it had been declared illegal for vampires to hunt humans for the past 50 years and laws were made to that effect.
Police forces were made up of both species and to ensure that there would be less casualties for humans as well as reduce racism.
Safe to say, the 3rd region is considered the second most safest place in the world for humans and a place for humans and vampires to coexist.

"Welcome to the office, well it's a recent addition to Junior Detective and I am Neptune Vasilias the Junior detective."

As he said that he sat down on his chair, the only chair near the table crossing both legs as he looked at the newcomer.

Jaune Arc stared at the newly furbished room and noticed the lack of many things that were supposed to be present in the office.

There was a chair and a table in the center of the room. A fan was rotating overhead and there were a couple of windows on the side, then there was a door which lead to the other room.
A sink was attached along with a mirror at one end of the room.
A small chest was present but was under the table.

Turning around he noticed another chair right near the door and so he sat on it.

"Well, umm, nice place but isn't it a bit empty ?"

Neptune just closed his eyes in response.

"Yes. It is empty because I just rented this place out."

"Oh. So Junior detective, huh ?"

"Yep. It was a passion of mine, a childhood dream."
He sat up straight, straightening his frock coat as he adjusted his black scarf around his neck.

"That's kind of amazing. Mine was to be a hero, like my father and his father before him."

"Really ? What was their profession?"

"Beast hunters. My great grandfather was a war hero though."

"Huh. Interesting."

As he replied, a cup of chocolate was floating on a cloud of mist that had arrived next to him like a shrunken taxi and another cup had come towards Jaune as well.

"Woah, thanks."

"It's alright."

"MMmm. It's..."

"Bland. I know, i didn't have much lien so we'll have to make do."

"I see."

They both drank in silence.
Afterwards Neptune went to the other room while Jaune began to roam around the office. As he went closer to the windows, he noticed some newspaper clippings on the table as well as some pictures of various locations of the 3rd region.

'The Glenn mountain massacre'
'Merlot industries shut down'
'Human trafficking circles near...'

There was even a note with a list of names crossed out.
As the door opened, Jaune quickly went over to the window to check out the view.
'Wait, why am I sneaking around ?' he thought to himself.

"Well hopefully, this will fit your size." Neptune called out as he handed him an intricate blue suit vest.
Jaune just raised his brow when he replied, "Well it was kind of my fault that your clothes got wrecked while helping out, so think of it as compensation."

"No need, I wanted to help."
With that, he began changing while Neptune went to grab his top hot and began recharging his mana.
After that, he turned around and saw that his guest had finished dressing up.

"Alright, thanks but I got to go now."

As he waved, Neptune looked around the room and took out a file.
As he locked the entrance, and walked downstairs, a loud yet motherly voice called out to him.

"Hey there, miss Fria. I know it's late but I have some work that needs to be done so..."
As he turned around, the landlord Miss Fria was there watching him with a motherly gaze. Her customary nightgown with the intricate bow was being worn meaning that she hadn't slept yet and was keeping watch all day and all night.
Unlike the other vampires, she had decided to age like the humans meaning that her form was that of an old lady confronting her grandchild.
And given their relationship, it was.
After all, it was her where he had learn most of his water and ice based spells from and it was mainly due to her that his fear of drowning had greatly reduced.
"Neptune, I know that your profession requires you to go to these lengths but you should know, vampires aren't as different as humans. Deep down, we are the same as them."
"I know, Miss Fria. It's just... I'll sleep once I get a lead, alright. I promise I'll sleep for 3 whole weeks when I solve the case."
She just sighed.
"Do what you will but be sure to not harm yourself, alright."
He nodded.

Meanwhile near the town square,
As Jaune Arc was walking towards the hotel he had booked earlier in advance, he noticed the noises and whispers of the crowd.

Despite it being around 1am, the nightlife was very popular for vampire folk and less so for humans.

It was at that moment he heard a shout around the corner.

"Hey, get that human!"
Running around the roofs of the various buildings was a well-athletic spiky blonde man who was carrying a small metallic box in the palm of his hands carefully as he maneuvered the chimneys and pipes as he jumped over them.
His legs had already started moving while his mind was still processing what was going on meanwhile some others in the crowd had noticed him.
As the spiky blonde had jumped from a roof to a low level building, he took a left turn and ended up near the pipes where he then began to hop on one to another before jumping on a ledge and then leaping off it and into a fire-escape. As he climbed down it and he ended on an alleyway where he immediately ran towards the exit only to nearly have a collision with a well-dressed individual with a rather shiny top hat.

"Woah, almost got you there."

"Yes, it could have been dangerous and a nuisance as well."

"Yes. Well, if you could, if anyone asks, you have not met me. Like at all."

"Ex-excuse me ?"
"Well got to go. Thanks."

And with that the spiky haired human immediately ran towards the left he entered a small building and disappeared into it.
Neptune just watched the weird guy leave.
"Tonight might just be...

30 minutes later, Neptune had reached the place where the last victim was found spotted. As he inspected the area, he felt the floorboards feeling light and as he knelt down and grabbed it, he realised that the floorboards were not pinned down.
'Something happened to the floor. This was a well-known public spot so something or someone broke the floor and replaced it.'
As he removed the boards using levitation until he made a large enough hole for him to fit in.
'A tunnel ? Someone made a tunnel under the floor and it leads to...'

As he kept on walking through the passage he reached a closed door.

'Looks like someone made a door specifically for this. Seeing as this tunnel has been made more than a few months ago makes this seem like it had been planned much earlier. So does that mean that this door leads to..'

The moment he touched the handle the door swung open and he found himself face to face with the human he had met just nearly half an hour ago.
Eyes wide, mouth forming a surprise, the human stared at him with equal astonishment.

This truly was an encounter with fools.
