PROLOGUE 07:

House Lamentation with Actual Lament

It wasn't that long when Yuki and Crowley searched for information about the Devildom in the library and Yuki was convinced that the blue flaming head ruler of the Underworld is nothing like Diavolo. All of the flames of the Devildom are mostly a shade of red after all.

In the middle of the night, Crowley brought Yuki to a European Haunted mansion on top of the hill with stone brick staircases and lanterns guiding the path. with leafless trees filled with cobwebs and tombstones sprouting in the front yard. It has a similar feel to the houses in the Devildom but yet has a different feel nonetheless.

"This place is…interesting…" Yuki commented as she saw the sign board at the front gate plastered Ramshackle Dormitory.

"Delightful isn't it, Follow me. This is where you'll be staying until we find a way to get you home." Crowley said with a smile as they went inside.

Yuki blinked but grumbled as she took a peek at the interior. It was all garbage and dark. There were cobwebs everywhere, broken glass and peeled wallpaper and portraits she barely know tilted improperly. At least the floorboards were intact and furniture just needs dusting. She didn't react a lot but is she even allowed to complain?

"Lovely…" she said looking around the lounge. She chuckled as her mind wander.

If this is actually House of Lamentation or House Lamentation 2.0, It really lives up to its name...this is really just sad.

"Stay here for a while…keep yourself busy. I have a lot on my plate." Crowley said and immediately closed the door as he left, leaving Yuki behind.

Yuki, however, clicked her tongue. Crowley kept mentioning about his generosity and kept praising himself only to just throw her in this dusty house but this narcissism is much different or yet annoying in comparison to Asmo. At least, even if Yuki is a stranger, she has no doubt that Asmo will provide a much more luxurious or at least decent sleeping quarters.

She sighed deeply once again. She's back to having no one in the house. Just like her life in the human world. She's alone. There's no one that she knows, no place that's familiar. It was late at night and she's indeed tired even if it's just a few hours of being in this pathetic school.

She dragged her feet and took off her leather coat and hung it on the nearby chair. She untied her ribbon and unbuttoned the top button of her dress shirt. She stared at the sofa, standing in front of it.

"Yawnn…I think not even Belphie can sleep with this much dust…" She muttered talking to herself as she took the table cloth and used it to dust off the dirt and dust in the sofa.

"Achoo!" She exclaimed, rubbing her nose. She took her coat and folded it and used it as the pillow to lay down on the sofa.

Yuki just laid there, staring at the dark hole of the fireplace. She can't cry. She's not used to crying over something like this. Soon, the rain poured heavily.

"Sigh…at least the skies were crying for me-dammit Asmo…your narcissism is rubbing on me." Yuki said, humoring herself as she heard the rain pouring outside.

PROLOGUE 08:

Bucket

"Gwahh! Brr…it's so cold!" The familiar squeaky voice was heard after the sudden slam of the door.

"Huh?" Yuki looked in the direction while lying on the sofa. She saw Grim running towards her and shaking its body making it rain inside. Of course, Yuki didn't flinch as she let the drips of water sprinkle on her.

"You're not that expressive are you, human? You look like an old hag bwahaha!" Grim snickered.

"I thought you got kicked out?" Yuki asked, sitting up from the sofa.

"Huh, as if I wouldn't let myself get kicked out that easily. You got no idea what I'm capable of." Grim said with a snicker, both his paws at his hips. "I ain't given up on going here. I always come back y'know!"

"Why are you even so determined?" Yuki asked.

"Feh, Isn't it obvious, I'm a prodigy! I got what it takes to be the greatest mage to ever lived!" Grim said happily, raising its paws up and spinning. Yuki just smiled with such enthusiasm as she listened attentively.

"I've been waiting and waiting for the black carriage and everything and yet I just came here!…pweh, that mirror has no eye for magical talent." Grim complained and Yuki sighed as she smiled sheepishly.

"Yeah…I agree…that mirror was bull." Yuki muttered after a long sigh.

"You humans, don't understand not havin' me! It's such a great loss!" Grim continued.

Yuki giggled. "Hey…I'm not saying anything about you being such a waste, Grim." Yuki said reassuringly.

"Ah, you remembered my name." Grim said smiling. "I mean, you better not think I'm useless!

Yuki just chuckled, didn't say anything at all. Of course she would remember, he was named after the money she used everyday, plus Grim speaks all high and might as Mammon. There's no way she would forget that.

"You know…If my mentor were to see someone like you…I'm sure he would be interested in taking you." Yuki said.

"That seems shady since you don't have any magical abilities…err…Yuki." Grim said smirking, scratching the top of his head remembering her name. "Myah!" Grim flinched as he immediately backed away when a rain drop dropped on his head. "My flaming ears will get doused, these are my trademark y'know! I can't let them get doused." Grim cried, as he scooted over next to Yuki on the sofa.

Yuki grinned looking down at Grim with a smug look. "Well good luck, the ceiling's riddled with a lot of holes-Fine, let me find some buckets." Yuki couldn't help on helping Grim especially with his flaming ears down like that. Satan probably rubbed on her as well. They are both fond of cats after all.

"I dunno why ya don't just magic those halls away instead, it'll be fixed in a jiff-ha! That's right…you can't use magic, pfft…you're so useless!" the cat said tauntingly as he shake his head wit satisfaction.

Yuki suddenly gripped the bucket she found. After finding Grim beig a cute cat, she kind of regret thinking like that since the attitude is not cute at all. However, she remained composed putting the containers for the dripping holes

"Then why don't you do it? Since you're supposed to be the greatest mage ever lived, huh?" Yuki grinned looking at Grim as she gathered more buckets and containers.

"Ha? You got the wrong idea, I'm just a stranger takin' shelter from the rain, You ain't the boss of me…" Grim continued with a smug grin and Yuki was getting a bit irritated deep inside. Making fun of her for being magicless is tolerable but being a jerk is something she dislikes but she remained silent because Grim is a cat and she don't want to hurt will feel bad spending time with Satan in the future if she knows she hurt one.

"If ya had some tuna to trade, that's a different story. I don't work for -"

"Oh my… it seems like the bucket has holes as well…" Yuki said slowly, glaring down at Grim as she was about to pour the small amount of water in the bucket on the cat's head.

"Eeekkk! I'M JUST KIDDING OKAY? JUST PLAIN JOKING-" Grim began to tremble as his voice went high as if crying, waving his paws around begging for dear life. "DON'T POUR IT! PLEASE! MYAHH!"

In the end, Yuki didn't do it ad put the bucket on its place.

PROLOGUE 09:

Busting with Tuna

Yuki and Grim decided to walk to the dorms since Grim wanted to sleep on the bed and not on the rug as Yuki suggested. The hallway was filled with cobwebs and broken lanterns and shattered glass on the floor. Grim was walking in front of Yuki checking every door they passed. Some doors are locked and some doors

"Hehehehehe….."

Soft yet multiple laughter filled the empty and dusty hallway. As Yuki looked around, the moment she faced forward, she was met by a spooky white silhouette in front of her. She immediately fell back hearing the direct menacing laughter she was hearing a while ago.

"Hello!"

"We haven't had visitors in ages!"

"Oh…new friends wowie!"

Three ghosts revealed in front of her, three bundles of smoke with shiny blue glow for eyes and all of them wearing top hats and dusty capes. Each of them have different sizes, one ghost is a small patch of steam, the other has a thin layer and the last one has a large amount.

The ghost continued to laugh. Yuki's eyes were wide as she was still lying on the floor. She has seen ghosts before, but they were mostly invisible and not some smoked creatures with some fashion sense.

"Hey, even I don't want to sleep on the-G-G-GHOST!" Grim shouted in fear as he turned around and saw the three ghosts. He immediately climbed on Yuki ending with her cradling him like a child.

"Hey! Human! It's time to use your demonic glare okay! Go and scare them away!" Grim commanded as his voice was trembling. Yuki took a quick glance at Grim.

How can she have a glare like that? She's human…not a she ignored his words regardless when the ghost spoke.

"All the people who used to visit here always get scared and ran away."

"We just want a new ghost playmate…what do ya say buddy?"

Yuki blinked and turned pale immediately at that sudden question. She wasn't scared anymore but what she heard was indeed frightening without Lucifer or anyone to protect her like usual. All she has is an annoying Mammon-like cat. "D-do you want us dead?"

"Oh heavens no…but maybe…"

Yuki gulped but they seemed friendly. They were just floating in front of them with a thin curve on their aces representing a line under their glowing eyes.

"Do you perhaps have unfinished business you want me to help you with?" She asked. This is always the case for ghosts not going to the afterlife or at least, that's what Satan always ask whenever they encounter ghosts.

"Nope…we just wanna play." the ghost said.

Yuki thought about it as Grim began to rubbed her face violently. "Hey! Human! Let's get out of here! Use your stupid legs and run away!" but Yuki remained still.

She looked at Grim and pointed at the ghosts. "Hey, Grim…go play tag with them."

"What? No way!" Grim shouted as he cried. "Why would I do that? Do it yourself!

"Aren't you supposed to be a great mage…surely mere ghosts will be a piece of cake for you." Yuki began. "It wouldn't be much fun if an ordinary human like myself would play with them...I can't interact with them physically…"

She then pointed at the ghost and Grim. "Maybe…at least with magic which you surely can use. It would make sure to make them go and surrender."

"Even if I would do that! What would I get out of it! You're stinkin' broke!"

"I don't know…maybe pride, honor and…making it to the student roster as a reward. What about tuna? I'm sure Mr. Crowley would want the ghosts gone. No one wanted their property to be haunted by ghosts after all." She continued with a smile on her face and a playful attitude as she tried to convince Grim to do her bidding. She realized that bribery with is one way to please this cat like everyone does in the case of the greedy demon.

"Aiyah! Really? Then say no more!" Grim said finally convinced. "Tuna! Await for me!"

Yuki chuckled as she let Grim jump down on the floor and began attacking the ghosts. However, he had his eyes closed all the time so he somewhat burned some curtain sheets and furniture when the ghosts dodged. They're just made of smoke after all.

"Aim properly! You're gonna set the place on fire again!" Yuki shouted as she immediately put out the fire on the sheets. "On your left!"

"Myahhh! I'm a damn master sorcerer! I ain't afraid of any dumb ghosts!" Grim convinced himself as motivation and soon followed Yuki's guidance on where the ghosts are at. It wasn't that long but they managed to scare the ghosts away.

"Good evening, in another gesture of kindness from my heart, I have bought you dinner, Yuki!" Crowley suddenly appeared holding a tray of food wrapped in plastic wrap. His head immediately looked over Grim who was shooting fire. "Is that the creature we kicked for causing trouble at orientation? What is the meaning of this?"

"Taking care of your ghostly problem, you're welcome!" Grim said smugly.

"What's the meaning of this Yuki?" Crowley said.

"I'm just cleaning up and ghosts were somehow in the way…" Yuki simply said lazily without giving much information. Crowley recalled the ghost's issues surrounding the dorm and after hearing their collaboration for eradicating said ghosts, he requested to see it for himself.

"No…The human lied about the tuna! So no way! Plus I already handled the job…"

Yuki scratched her head and looked away with a smile on her face.

"I'll give Tuna as well after as pretending to be a ghost and let's see what you can do." Crowley insisted and with the snap of his finger, he transformed into a ghost made out of long puff wearing a dark cape and crow mask.

Yuki found this quite interesting from the usual ghosts she heard rumors about. These ghosts can actually be seen as smoke and not transparent bodies like she's used to.

"I have to work with humans again? That's bull…" Yuki can hear Grim sigh.

"C'mon…think of this like an entrance exam from the head mage haha." Yuki said, teasing nudging Grim on the back.

"Shut up and stop making me hopeful!" Grim whined but still fight off the ghost-version Crowley with Yuki's aid.
