A Different Future… 8
"I think you're amazing, you're so strong, so smart and beautiful… I think we truly have something between us, something special, so… what… what I am trying to say is…" He held his breath. "Violet Parr, will you please go out with me?" Danny said in a very shy voice.
Violet hesitated for a small moment before answering.
"Y-yes." She said with a small smile.
With that, Danny stood before her and offered his arm. With some hesitancy, Violet took it.
After seeing his encouraging smile, she felt more comfortable as they headed off together.
"Ah, so that's why you asked Luiz here to stay." Deadpool pieced it together. "Neat!"
"Yup, girl number 9 and alternate future number 8 is Violet Parr from the Incredibles… which is getting a third movie." NeoMark nodded.
"I picked Violet because I wanted Danny to be in a double masquerade and I wanted to showcase how the Incredibles and DevTech are faring afterwards." Luiz4200 said. "I hope the third movie shows both.
"Now… since this is a story that did get a spin-off, I felt it was right to work with the original author of that story." NeoMark said.
"Good call." Deadpool sat back with anticipation.
"Time for…" NeoMark gestured for Luiz4200 to continue.
"…What?" Luiz4200 asks.
"… what have I been doing this whole time?" NeoMark asks with an impatient eye rolling.
"… oh! I get it." Luiz4200 said.
"Right…" NeoMark gestures to him. "Time for…"
"More Capcom shilling." Luiz4200 guesses.
"Never mind…" NeoMark says. "Time for… An Incredible Future."
"Oh those names you have been giving… It makes sense." Luiz4200 says.
15 years later
He carried his wife into the house, going through the roof thanks to intangibility. He places her upright on the carpet.
"Told you we'd make it." Danny cheekily said.
"Right…" Violet, still in costume, said with an eye roll.
Danny Phantom's costume, like those seen in all the alternate futures seen, was the same with white streaks and a utility belt, but Violet's was different. She alternated between many identities depending on who she works with.
With her parents, she went by her pseudo-alias of Miss Disappear, but with Danny, she went by different ones over the years. She settled for Ultraviolet, aka Mrs. Phantom and A Forcefield for Justice.
Her outfit has changed as well. She was now wearing a new super suit, also designed by Edna Mode that consists of an athletically-fit black suit with red highlights, along with a crop-top purple hoodie that has the left shoulder exposed from a tear it recently received, showing her suit underneath had no sleeves and what looked to be opera gloves made of the same material as the suit. She retains her mask, and headband. She had the Incredibles logo on her hoodie, representing her familial ties, but it also had the Phantom logo underneath, showing who she was married to.
"So, Vi? Still feeling jealous? I told you, I'm not leaving you for anyone, much less Ember." Danny reminded her yet again.
"I know…" Vi rolled her eyes before groaning. "This is what I get for marrying a hunk."
"H-Hey…" Danny wrapped an arm around her and pulled her in closer. "Well… if it helps, you've grown up pretty well. You're a total fox."
Violet, seeing him being happy and flirty with her, softened up.
"Okay…" She stopped crossing her arms and hugged him back. "So… let's see what kind of chaos the kids caused."
"Right…" Danny looked around to see anything amiss. "Steven?! You and your sister better not be giving your aunt any trouble!"
Jazz stepped out from the kitchen, looking a tad disheveled.
"Thank goodness you're here…" She sighed happily. "Rose was easy because she's 2, but Steven's been using his powers to prank me with random sounds."
Although Danny found that mildly amusing, Violet did not.
"STEVEN!" Violet stomped her foot. "Get your butt down here!"
Appearing upstairs was a small boy who looked very much like Danny at a young age, same hair and eye color, but with Violet's skin tone. His hairstyle was different, though. It wasn't as spiky, the bangs being much like hers.
"Y-Yes, Mom?" Steven awkwardly responds with a nervous smile.
"Get your 5 year old butt down here and apologize to your Aunt Jasmine!" Violet demanded as she took her mask off.
"Do I gotta?" Steven whined, only to go silent when his mother sent him a stern look..
"I-It's fine, Violet." Jazz tried to diffuse the situation, but Violet shook her head.
"No, I want to see him do it." She insisted.
Steven slowly went down the stairs, adopting a more apologetic look on his face.
"Sorry, Aunt Jazz…" Steven apologized.
"It's fine…" Jazz insisted. "He's a growing boy… with superpowers, admittedly."
"Even so, he should know better." Violet crossed her arms before taking a deep breath. "Well… at least that's the only power of his he messes with. Lord knows what kind of crazy he'd do if he unlocks all his ghost powers."
"But all I can do is hover." Steven points out.
"Who knew someone with a Supergene and someone whose powers were born from a lab accident could create something so… super?" Danny couldn't help but say with a smile.
"At least Rose is still little…" Violet sighed in relief as she patted her son's head to soothe him.
"Speaking of, where's our little girl?" Danny asks.
"Kitchen, high chair." Jazz pointed to where she came from.
Danny entered and saw her. A small girl with short hair of the same shade of black as her mother, but with his eye color, skin tone and nose.
"Hey, Rosy?" Danny said as his daughter smiled upon seeing him.
"Dada…" She went happily as Danny now held her in his arms.
"Ah, her older appearance is based on how she looked in Mirrorverse." Deadpool said.
"Yup. Although, the Phantom logo was my idea. She'll sew that tear too, by the way." NeoMark said.
"Nice." Deadpool gave a thumb's up.
"So… what do you think so far?" NeoMark said. "Since we never got their exact ages… I figured I would play with them for the kids. I decided Lily, their third child, isn't born yet."
"So far so good." Luiz4200 said.
"The final chapter of your story ended with a reunion, I could be wrong but you didn't specify how long it had been, I just figured it was 20." NeoMark said.
"Wait up!" Deadpool raised a hand. "You have made a huge error! Considering you spent YEARS obsessing over a simple typo, it can't go unpunished!"
"What mistake did he make? I didn't see anything." Luiz4200 said.
Deadpool takes out a laptop and points to the screen.
"It says here they have their mother's hair, but they both have black hair so that's excusable, but they have GREEN eyes! GREEN! YOU gave them blue eyes!" Deadpool pointed in faux-anger at NeoMark. "How dare you interfere with HER masterpiece!"
"Huh… I don't mind but I'm curious. Why the eye color change?" Luiz4200 asked.
"I'll be honest, I have never really understood why Flower Princess11 gave so many of the kids green eyes of Danny Phantom. Danny's eyes are only green in ghost form. Unless he fathered them in ghost form, I always just saw it as they should only be green when they use those powers, like with Annie." NeoMark explained.
"Plus, this is an alternate universe, so it can go either way." Luiz4200 points out.
"Oh yeah?!" Deadpool noticed a chime on his laptop and laughed. "I just sent her a message about this and it says…" He reads the message. "Since this is technically a different universe from my story, I guess it's okay…" He read with his excitement gone.
Deadpool slammed his head on the table out of disappointment he couldn't use this to mess with NeoMark.
"So… let's continue." NeoMark said.
At the Fenton household
Danny sat on the couch with his son, Steven, as they watched footage of Mr. Incredible taking down Anchor-Man, a villain of his.
"Go, Grandpa!" Steven said with a smile.
"I see Bob still isn't considering retirement…" Danny mused as he sat back with a leg over his knee.
"Dad's always been uninterested in sitting tight." Violet stepped in, having changed into more casual clothes after going to their room. "He's not letting old age stop him."
As Danny has his usual red long-sleeve with jeans, Violet wore a purple sweat atop a pink shirt with black pants. She didn't wear anything in her hair, letting it down.
She always feared people would recognize her and Danny as superheroes, but he was quick to point out how comically inept many people, especially in Amity Park, are when it comes to connecting the dotes on secret identities.
"I kinda respect that." Danny commented as watched Mr. Incredible hand Anchor-Man to the police. "Where exactly do guys like these come from?" He couldn't help but think the idea of a lost anchorman who came back as a supervillain with strength and water manipulation a bit absurd.
"Good question." Violet admitted before sitting alongside her husband and son. "So…Steven?"
"Yes, Mom?" Steven asks.
"You finished your homework?" Violet asks.
"Almost all of it." Steven said. "I just need to finish a math question but… Dad said he'll help me out before dinner."
"Your dad? Who famously was terrible at math?" Violet eyed Danny with a disbelieving look.
"I got better." Danny protested. "...eventually."
"Well… hopefully, the apple will fall a lot farther from the tree when it comes to adding numbers as he gets older." Violet snarked.
"I love you too, Vi." Danny rolled his eyes with a playful smile.
"Even so… outside of math, that's it?" Violet redirected her attention to her first born.
"Yeah, that's it." Steven said.
"Okay. You be sure to finish up before dinner. We're ordering in tonight." Violet said.
"We're not cooking up anything?" Danny asks.
"Nah. I'm exhausted…" Violet said as her shoulders were notably dropped to show she was worn out from all their hero work today.
"Okay." Danny said in a sigh, as he too felt a bit tired. "So… what's on the menu tonight? I'll use DineDash."
"Let's just pick one restaurant this time." Violet said before being more sending a stern look to the others. "And no pizza. Steven's had that for two nights this past week."
"Aww nuts…" Steven muttered.
"So… I'm all for Ramen or Chinese." Danny said.
"Hmm… Chinese. I'll make sure the fried rice and lo mein has more vegetables for Steven." Violet said.
"Ugh… no thanks, Mom…" Steven muttered.
"What was that?" Violet raised an eyebrow.
"I said… thanks, Mom." Steven adopted a fake smile to hide his actual tone.
"Good, good. Be sure to wash up before dinner. And go get your homework out. Your father will help you as soon as I speak with him." Violet pointed outside.
"Okay." Steven said as he got up and headed out of the living room.
Once he was out, Violet sat closer to Danny.
"So?" She asks with a smile growing.
"So?" Danny asks, clueless to what she was talking about.
"What do you think about this for our anniversary? We could take a short trip and stay somewhere, a place that's really scenic like Castaway Resort, and leave the kids with my folks?" Violet suggests.
"Our anniversary isn't for another 6 months. Unlike my dad, I actually bother to remember ours." Danny said with a slight chuckle.
"I know, but I wanna plan ahead of time. Who knows… maybe we'll bring back another souvenir this time?" Violet winked at him.
"You really love to call the kids that, doncha?" Danny mused.
"Kinda…" Violet shrugged in response.
"Well… I guess we could hit up Castaway Resort and get out of the city for a while. I guess taking a break from being Danny Phantom and Ultraviolet is something we can both do." Danny said.
"Darn, I won't get to see you in a skin-tight suit." Violet playfully goes with an eyebrow raised.
"I was gonna say the same about your suit." Danny smirks.
Both of them laughed and shared a quick kiss.
"Hey!" Steven called out from his room. "My homework?!"
"Coming!" Danny said as he got up, Violet winking at him as if to say to hurry up so they can continue being cute together.
"Ultraviolet? For real?" Luiz4200 asks.
"Ultraviolet is the invisible rays that come from the sun. It's a type of radiation that's also used in sunlamps and tanning beds. And her name is Violet." NeoMark said.
"I think so. So, you gave her the hero name of Ultraviolet? Because that reminds me of the TV series Ultraviolet and Black Scorpion." Luiz4200 pointed out.
"Actually…" NeoMark raised his hand. "That's a common idea for her hero name when she gets older. I decided to give it a try."
"Wait." Deadpool spoke up. "You rejected calling her Invisi-girl. You said you didn't like using fan terms, hence why you didn't use it."
"True… but a few factors are in play here. First off… we're nearing the end of the story, I can loosen up a bit." NeoMark said.
"Okay." Luiz4200 nodded.
"Second, I figure she'd be one of those heroes who'd probably adopt a bunch of names as she ages or joins other groups. Remember, she wasn't married to the Miss Disappear name I used. She could totally use that and maybe change it at some point." NeoMark said.
"True." Luiz4200 conceded.
"Third… well, I'll be honest… I never saw anyone call her the name "Invisi-Girl" prior to the original story. I always see people call her Ultraviolet, at least when she grows up. And, personally, I always thought that was a better name to be honest. It fits with both her powers and her real name." NeoMark said.
"Well, if Beast Boy can switch to Changeling. Yeah, it fits." Luiz4200 said and agreed.
"HA!" Deadpool was on his laptop.
"What are you doing now, Wade? Going to another chimichanga fest?" Luiz4200 asks with a tone of malice.
"Nope! I'm letting FP11 know he's changing the name again and using a fan term!" Deadpool said before a ping occurred. "HA! She responded!"
"What'd she say?" NeoMark asks.
"Well, like Neo said, Violet probably had multiple names growing up. So, both names mentioned work for me, especially since she never had an official hero name in her debut..." Deadpool read out loud.
As Deadpool hit his head on the desk again, NeoMark smiled and shook his head.
"Well, normally, this is where we talk about what's different. But…" NeoMark points to Luiz4200. "Since this is the story you picked up, I'm open to what changes you think you'd do if it was set in this specific version."
"I'd have Jack try to make a super suit and Edna, upon seeing the results, would say "at least he's better than Galbaki"." Luiz4200 said.
"So… any changes from this version? Like, what would knowing girls like Marinette, Sakura and Kula affect their lives?" NeoMark asks.
"Marinette could ask for Danny's help against Hawkmoth. Danny might run afoul of another villain from the Street Fighter franchise. I don't know Kula well enough to have any ideas regarding her." Luiz4200 said.
"Cool." NeoMark nodded. "Next…"
Once dinner was done and Steven's homework was finished, Danny sat on the balcony outside the bedroom he shared with his wife.
After the day he's had, the idea of planning a vacation for his anniversary with Violet was something to look forward to.
As the sun fully set, he looked up at the sky in thought.
"Where to…? London? Cancun? Maybe to the countryside for something more rustic?" He asks himself.
"Depends on if being a NASA scientist gives you free time." Violet, having overheard him, stepped onto the balcony.
"Hey… what's up?" Danny asks his wife as she sat next to him.
"Not much. Just made sure Steven took a bath. Don't worry about where we're going for our vacation, we got plenty of time to decide." Violet said.
"That's a relief." Danny said with a smile as he rested an arm around her. "So… I just got a call from my folks. They wanna know if we'll come to their anniversary this weekend."
"I'm cool with that." Violet said.
"Yeah… hopefully we won't have a repeat of Steven using that power to convince them to give him more ice cream…" Danny mused as a thought crossed him. "I figured he might get my powers… but I kind of figured he'd get your powers, or at least one of them like the shields."
"That's not how the Super gene works." Violet says. "Whether or not the inherit a parent's power isn't really a thing because it depends on the biology of the person who gets it. Maybe your DNA played a part?" She suggests.
"Oh? So it's my fault our son can send thoughts into people's heads?" Danny smiled at her faux-accusation.
"Maybe?" Violet shrugged. "I don't know. We have no idea what Rose's powers will be like. For all we know, she'll breathe fire. It's about as random as the outfits I've worn over the years."
"My personal fave is when you had that updated version of the suit you wore as a teen that, when you pressed on the logo, it changed colors." Danny mused.
"I'll save that one for when we have the anniversary of our first date. Course, I don't mind the suit I got now." Violet said.
"Me neither…" Danny said as he adopted a wolfish smile. "Of course, the hoodie makes it hard to see how beautiful and developed your figure is."
"Oh? Are you saying I was just a stick when we met?" Violet's faux-anger was evident by the smile.
"You were always lovely, Vi. That said, it doesn't hurt that you got some one-on-one training with your power, and exercising with your dad. Look at the results." Danny gestures to her.
"Only if I let you see me." Violet says playfully.
Both of them laughed before they started kissing. They held onto each other as they enjoyed the moment of peace and privacy.
Hours later
Rose was being put in bed by her parents, her mother patting her head before kissing it.
"Nighty night, Rose Madeline Fenton." Violet whispered.
"Night…" Rose said happily as she drifted to sleep.
Once that was done, the two smiled. Violet had a thought in her head.
"So, what do you think of a name for another girl? Lily? Daisy? Petunia?" She asks.
"Going for flower puns, my sweet Violet?" Danny asks.
"Well… I happen to think those are cute names for a little girl. Flowers are cute." Violet lightly pushed him as they walked towards their son's room.
As they did, they saw Steven's room still had the walls covered in various papers with drawings of him in different costumes. Some were closer to his mother's various outfits, from being predominantly red and wearing a hoodie, to others closer to his father's, being a mix of black and white.
Unlike Violet, who was more interested in being normal until Syndrome got in the way, Steven was clearly more interested in getting to be a hero.
Steven was already in his pajamas as he saw his parents at the doorway. He was wearing red pajamas based on the suits of the Incredibles.
"Look at what Grandpa Bob and Grandma Helen gave me." He happily presented it, the Incredibles' logo displayed on his chest. "It's too bad it doesn't swap colors when you press the dot on the I like your suit did, Mom…" He pressed said dot as if to demonstrate.
"That's because it'd be a fire hazard." Violet said.
"And you currently don't have fire resistance." Danny added.
Steven huffed in disappointment before shrugging. As he climbed into bed, his mother tucked him in.
"Night, Steven." Violet whispered to him.
"Aww… Mom… I wanna hear you call me by one of my cool sidekick name ideas." Steven went with a pout.
"Okay… Phantom Boy." Violet rolled her eyes with a small hint of amusement before kissing his forehead.
"Night, Son." Danny adds as he gave him a thumb's up.
Steven nodded as he closed his eyes.
"G'night…" He drifted off to sleep.
With that done, Danny and Violet would retire to their bedroom. There, they would soon dress into their own pajamas, Danny in a white shirt and grey pants, Violet in a white nightgown that reached her ankles.
"You know…" She spoke up. "My dad used to say that Syndrome was so obsessed with being his sidekick… that being told no made him snap."
"...I know." Danny questioned her reasoning.
"I know it's weird but… part of me worries that Steven-"
"Stop right there." Danny raised a hand. "Our boy isn't anything like Buddy Pine. For starters, our boy knows the big thing about being a superhero isn't the super part."
"My dad said Syndrome used to worship him almost religiously to the point where he thought he deserved being his ward. But… from the sound of it, his parents were too hands off and he didn't exactly have anyone around to tell him that he wasn't owed anything like that." Violet recalled what she heard of her father's former biggest fan. "Not like how Steven has us."
"Plus, he has actual superheroes as parents keeping an eye on him so he knows right and wrong." Danny reminds her.
"Yeah…" Violet nodded.
Unlike her, her son wanted to be a superhero from the start. His enthusiasm would be admirable if it weren't for the fears of him using his powers of telepathy with the powers he inherited from Danny being used for something beyond little pranks. As a result, she wanted to make sure that their boy didn't go down the wrong path.
"So…" Danny would get in bed. "After Ember, the Underminer, and that out of nowhere alien invasion… I don't mind spending the night with my wife."
"Really? No late night crime fighting to get excited? Like our first month of being married?" Violet teased as she joined him.
"Nah… I had enough of that kind of excitement." Danny raised an arm and pulled her in.
"Good to know…" Violet smiled before kissing him.
From there, the superhero couple went under the covers, still kissing and holding each other passionately.
Thus, another incredible day for this happy couple was over.
"So… let's assume… Lily, the last one, is born like 2 or 3 years later. I figure that the reunion in the final chapter is their 20th high school reunion. Again, I don't think you specified how old the kids were." NeoMark said.
"I didn't." Luiz4200 replied. "I just did my best to follow what FP11 set."
"So, what'd you think?" NeoMark asks.
"I think it's fine." Luiz4200 answers. "I just wonder if you were being ironic when you wrote that line about a girl named Rose being able to breathe fire."
"Awesome…" NeoMark then gestured to Deadpool. "Okay, let them know they can come back."
"Nice." Deadpool said.
"Next girl…" NeoMark said.
Special thanks to Luiz4200, Flower Princess11 and TheWhiteTitan.
