On Thursday, April 11th, the first-year Class 4 at Raizen High School, where Kotori and her friends attended, would have an open class. This event was highly significant as not only the students' guardians but also the superintendent would attend to observe the class.
During the break before the open class, the atmosphere in the classroom was markedly different from usual.
Some students' guardians had already started entering the classroom, among them a stern-looking man who surveyed the surroundings. He was likely the superintendent, and his presence made everyone uneasy. Students cautiously whispered to one another.
"Mm... This man has such a stern face. Just looking at him sends shivers down my spine," murmured Natsumi while observing the superintendent.
"I remember he's Superintendent Kuriu. He also inspected Shido-san's open class last time," Yoshino reminded them.
"Yeah, he's a rigid guy—super strict. Last time, he kept nitpicking at me and never showed a pleasant expression," Natsumi chimed in.
"As long as we do well this time, there shouldn't be any issues," Kotori reassured Natsumi while patting her on the back. "Don't stress too much."
"Kotori is right. Besides, Brother will also be coming, so there's no need to worry."
"Hey, is Kotori-chan's mom coming too?" A curious female voice suddenly piped up.
"Kotori-chan is so pretty; her mom must be gorgeous too."
"Of course! It's all in the genes!"
Kotori looked over at the speakers and recognized Ayame, Mahime, and Mihime, her classmates.
"Um, thank you for the compliment, but my mom is away on a business trip, so she won't be coming. My brother will attend instead," Kotori explained with a smile.
"Oh, I see. So your brother is Itsuka Shido, right?"
"I heard he's a total weirdo who's ensnared countless girls in his clutches."
"Uh, isn't it a bit inappropriate to say that in front of Kotori-chan about her brother?"
Listening to the chatter, Kotori broke into a cold sweat. "No, no, it's fine. Haha…" she replied awkwardly, though internally she was lamenting her brother's embarrassing reputation.
"What about Mukuro-chan's parents? Are they coming?"
"Mm…" Mukuro hesitated, unsure of how to answer.
"Ayame, what are you saying? Don't you remember Mukuro-chan said in her self-introduction that she's an orphan?" Mahime chided.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Mukuro-chan," Ayame quickly grabbed Mukuro's hand. "I shouldn't have asked that."
"It's fine," Mukuro replied calmly. "Nushi-sama has promised to attend the open class today."
"Your Nushi-sama? You mean that store manager?" Mahime recalled that Mukuro referred to the manager of a food store as her "Nushi-sama" the previous day.
"Mm…"
"Yes, that's it," Natsumi interjected hastily when Mukuro fell silent, answering on her behalf.
"Really?" The trio looked on skeptically.
"I say, you…" Kotori shot a glare at Natsumi. If Shido came, the truth would inevitably be revealed.
But for now, since the matter was already concealed, it was best not to complicate things further. They could deal with the aftermath later.
"Brother will also attend as my guardian," Mana quickly shifted the topic.
"It's Itsuka Shido again?"
"The guy who's a super sis-con with two amazing little sisters?"
"Absolutely shameless."
"Ahem!" Mana coughed unhappily, silencing them.
"Ah, sorry, we misspoke," the trio apologized hastily.
"What about Yoshino-chan and Natsumi-chan?" The trio redirected their questions to Yoshino and Natsumi.
"Will you guys stop already?" Natsumi frowned. "Why don't you talk about your guardians instead?"
"Natsumi," Yoshino tugged on her sleeve. "That's a bit rude."
"Uh, sorry," Natsumi realized her tone was too harsh.
"My dad is over there!" Ayame pointed to a man at the back of the classroom.
"Ayame, your dad is here!" A strange-looking man wrapped in black ropes approached them.
"I told you not to come dressed like that!" Ayame complained to her father.
"What are you talking about, Ayame? This is a proud tradition of my organization."
"It's like this," Ayame explained to the girls. "My dad is a senior member of a black magic society. I mentioned this during my self-introduction."
"I see." The girls nodded in understanding.
Just then, a woman in a bondage outfit entered the classroom.
"Mom!" Mahime exclaimed. "Why are you dressed like that?"
"I just got off work and didn't have time to change," the woman replied innocently.
"Is she the queen of an S club?" Kotori observed the woman and somehow thought of someone else who might suit that role.
"Please, separate work from personal matters!" Mahime protested.
At that moment, the girls' eyes widened as a man wielding an M16 rifle appeared at the classroom door. He wore a white suit, his muscular build and sharp gaze intimidating, with eyebrows as fierce as a bird of prey's wings.
"Is that scary guy also here for the open class?" The girls nervously watched the imposing figure.
"Uncle!" Mihime ran up to him. "Why are you carrying that here?"
"I just finished a job and thought I'd drop by for the open class."
Looking at the trio's guardians, the girls all began sweating profusely.
"Everyone, settle down!" A petite woman wearing glasses entered the classroom. "Class is about to start. Students, take your seats, and guardians, please sit with your children."
The students and their guardians all moved to their respective seats.
"Has Shido-san not arrived yet?"
"Shido-kun… He wouldn't forget about this because he's out flirting again, would he?"
Yoshino quickly covered Yoshinon's mouth.
"I think that's quite likely," Natsumi grumbled.
"What is that idiot doing again?" Kotori slammed the desk angrily.
"Have all the guardians arrived?" Tama-chan, the teacher, scanned the classroom and noticed that a few students were without guardians. "Itsuka, Himekawa, Kyouno, Hoshimiya, and Takamiya, are your guardians not coming?"
"Sorry, they'll be here soon," Kotori stood up and answered.
"Is it the same for you all?"
"Yes, the same as Kotori," they replied.
Tama-chan nodded, understanding that "same as Kotori" meant they'd arrive shortly.
Just then, hurried footsteps echoed in the hallway, and a boy with an androgynous face appeared at the classroom door.
"Sorry, everyone, I'm late," he said apologetically.
A/N:
Sorry for the hiatus, everyone. It's been almost two years, time really flies.
I just feel like this story is not good enough to be put here, so I stopped. But seeing you guys asking for updates, it makes me very happy. Thank you and enjoy!
