Testament XVI: The Battles Raged (Part I)

(Queue 'UAC Atlantica Combat - Extended Gamerip' by Lord of Diamonds)

CRACK!

The Slayer slammed into the pavement below, sending familiar spindles of web-like cracks through the ground.

He lifted his head, to see the quaint, humble town of Pendleton- only now it was infested with these disgusting demons.

"SCKKKKREEEAAAAAAAHHHH!"

His presence was immediately registered among them, anyhow; They began running, charging, flying towards him with that familiar hostility he had come to know since ancient times.

He stood up, unslinging his Super Shotgun, cracking open the double barrel and shoving in two slugs, before closing it back up with a loud CLICK!

He stared at the horde of demons charging towards him- Revenants were more plentiful than the other aerial targets, so he'd have to focus on dealing with them first.

On the ground, he could see many Pinkies gathering up in groups and steadily making their way towards him, reinforced by a multitude of Imps and Hell Knights.

As they congregated, the Slayer felt rage begin to course through his body- his veins lit ablaze, his muscles quivered with ferocious intensity-

Every single time he set his eyes on these demons, he could hardly hold back the feeling to-

CRACK!

His first move sent him flying into the air, as he propelled himself off the ground, causing another backforce to break the ground he was standing on. He launched towards the nearest Revenant, which seemed thrown off by his speed.

To his own demise-

Schick!

The Revenant screamed in agony as the pincers on the end of the shotgun impaled through its skull-

BANG!

Before the Slayer pulled the trigger, blasting its head into gory bits. Before he could freefall, the Slayer grabbed ahold of the Revenant as its rocket pack sent it flying around randomly.

Much to the Slayer's convenience. Although the corpse was essentially just flying around in the air wildly, the Slayer had used the opportunity to unsheath his chaingun-

BRRRRRRT-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T!

Intuitively calculating the next propulsion of the Revenant's rocket pack, the Slayer unleashed a hail of bullets upon the hordes below him- The bullets ripping through their flesh, tearing them to shreds and sending plumes of red mist into the atmosphere.

The blasts from the chaingun sent the dead Revenant he was holding onto spinning rapidly, flying into another Revenant-

SHICK!

-Only for the Slayer to chop its body in half as he passed by with the shotgun pincers. The Revenant screamed as it crashed into the ground below, exploding into bits. Surveying the battlefield for any other threats, the Slayer was outraged to see the demons begin to retreat- Were these the same demons that'd attacked him mercilessly in his own world?

Unacceptable. Cowardly.

Weak.

The Slayer reached into his personal pocket dimension- pulling out several shaped charges of a high caliber. He'd worked on these prototypes in his downtime.

He planted several of them on the Revenant, looking back down to make sure the demons were still retreating; they were well out of the town now, congregated as a running mass in the distant fields. The Slayer glanced around very quickly, making sure there were no humans or allies within distance.

Then, he aimed the bomb-riddled Revenant he was still grappled towards the mass of retreating demons-

And hopped off. Landing on a four-story building, he merely watched as the Revenant's flailing body flew at high speed towards the mass of demons in the distance. The Slayer considered whether the explosive power of the shaped charges he designed would be enough to take out all of them. But he wasn't particularly worried.

Those charges were essentially miniature nukes.

The Slayer watched idly as the Revenant crashed into the mass of demons-

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM-

In the next second, the distant fields were caught in a giant storm of flame and fury- A ring of violent energy burst out from the sheer size of the explosion, which faintly resembled the iconic mushroom cloud of an atomic bomb- though with none of the radiation.

The shockwave from the explosion slammed against the many buildings of Pendleton- as well as against the Slayer, who stood his ground as the powerful wind forces tried to propel him off his feet.

Gradually, the shockwave dissipated, and in the distance the Slayer could see the smouldering crater where the mass of demons once stood.

For a moment, the Slayer had awaited for VEGA to give him a diagnostic on the demonic presence. However, after a few seconds he realized VEGA had transferred his conscience to that bionic body. It was probably akin from living in a tiny box to having an entire football field to yourself.

Now thinking about VEGA, he remembered the words he'd spoken to him only a few hours ago-

Slayer… I am the Father.

Maddening. And yet… to the Slayer, there was an unnatural familiarity to those words. As if…

As if he'd heard them before.

"SLAYER!"

Within seconds, the Slayer hopped off the roof just as a giant, cross-shaped energy beam obliterated the roof he was standing on- in the same second, he had to twist himself mid-air to avoid the other two beams that attempted to kill him during his sidestep.

He just managed to land on another rooftop, looking back up to see-

All around him, the ground began to quake- and then, all at once, the landscape shook and rumbled subtly; the ground turned into a swamp, becoming marsh-like, with even solid rocks rapidly turning into mud and murky water. Overgrowth of vines and vegetation spread across the buildings and the soil like a living, malicious entity.

The air became fetid, with ghastly stenches of death and decay ruminating in the air alongside a quick-gathering fog; Small fauna and swamp plants popped up all around the town, which had rapidly transformed into a very familiar sight-

The Blood Swamps.

His fists tightened- creating such density within the fist that a temporary gravitational field was generated around him; Small rocks and other insignificant debris orbited around him menacingly as he stared down the Blood Maykr hovering only a few dozen feet away, its crimson staff pointed at him.

"Noooo…. Wroooooooooooonnnnnngggggg oooooonnnnneeeeee."

The Slayer's head spun around, to see pale-white demon emerging from the ground, lying on its back; A black, tarrish liquid oozed from every one of its pores in the skin and spilled onto the ground, causing the dirt to sizzle and killing plant life.

It turned its beady, black eyes upon the Slayer; A wide grin caused its jaw to unhinge unnaturally, revealing rows of razor-sharp fangs, complete with multiple forked tongues lashing out at the air.

"Weeeeeeee neeeeeddddd ttooooooo speeeeeeeeeaaaaakkkkk."
